Excellent teacher! Full of wit and humor. His British accent adds spice to the class. It is fairly and you will learn a great deal!
Register for someone else! Only 8 people took his final, out of 22. He will meet with you to "help" you with your essay, you change what he says to, then get your final draft back only to find his criteria has changed! You will learn nothing in
very difficult, competant, take him is your a lit major
The prof is cool. Great Australian accent. He gives you sample exam questions in advance so you know what to expect, and gives you help with papers before you turn them. Use his office hours for extra help.
I would highly recommend someone else. He is not tolerant of different writing styles, nor do you truly learn. Work that would earn an A or B w/ any other instructor will get nowhere with him (unless you write like & have the intellect of a 6th-grader).
Nice guy, but as stated above, changes his grading procedures drastically. One when I went in for him to critique my research paper, he changed things, but I didn't mind. I turned in the research paper w/corrections, yet he penalized for his changes. Hmm.
By all means, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! You don't learn anything by being in class. I learned more doing research on the internet and reading the textbook. No matter how hard you work or how much research you do, it's next to impossible to get an A.
Although I did not gain any new information from him , I did learn a lot of my mistakes that I have done for years. He's funny, nice and helpful when you ask.
The only way to do great in this class is if: 1. You are an English/Literature major or 2. You have a strong interest in literature. Otherwise, this is not the teacher for you. Class feels like it is designed for the English major.
Onlytake a class with him if you are an English major. He is a good teacher but the way he covers the material is very boring; do not take him if you are not intersted in Literature.
okay teacher
This teacher has a cool Austr5alian accent and thats where it ENDS! He is not a good prof. and asks too much of his students. My class of 23 ended up being 4 by the end of the sem. DON'T TAKE PARTRIDGE!!!XXX!!!
Yeah he is a little hard. But that's college. He tells you what is expected, and you fix it.... too easy. You can re-write every paper. I re-wrote all my papers (minor adjustments) the night before deadline and made a B. All you do in class is talk.. Too easy.
Partridge is an exceptional professor. Those who say that he is hard, well you're right. He expects much more out of his students than do other mediocre professors. He is always available to help students who are struggling, and he is incredibly open minded. If you ever get the chance, TAKE HIM!!!
Amazing teacher. Makes you think outside the box about both reading and writing. Encourages large group discussions and all sorts of thinking. If your ready for intense study with a professor who will challenge you, choose him!
He is a very good teacher first person who to make you think out side of the box. Take him! Do not listen to the other people because they just don't know how to pass a class
He is an awesome teacher who doesn't focus on the author of the piece, but acually focuses on the piece itself. He lets his students do their own interpretations instead of shoving his own down your throat. As long as you listen to discussions, you'll do great on tests.
Mr. Partridge is an amazing teacher, though I will agree this is a class directed toward English majors. Those students that have little to no interest in English should probably take another sophomore English class. If you're willing to take the plunge, look forward to in depth discussions.
This was an awesome class! I took pt. I with Partridge, too, but in this class he really shines. He opened my eyes to a number of American authors I'd never considered, and he's Australian! The discussions were amazing and he helps alot with papers. You will easily pass if you come to class and read
his class is super fun, and very debating. he is super helpful and nice. he is a great teacher, the only people who don't like him, are ones who don't like to be challenged. he's fun and informative, and teaches alot! he is really good when writing the essays, cuz you get re-write options! he cares!
Mr Partridge is a cool teacher. He helped me whenever I needed it. One time, we had papers due, but he took all the papers and corrected them, and let all of us turn it in a extra day later. All the people would probably have failed that paper, including my self, but he helped us instead.
Very interesting, and makes class fun to come to. Never expect a straight answer from him, however, because he wants you to think for yourself. That's what college is all about, right? I loved him, and am taking him again for Literary Criticism. Excellent prof for English majors. Really gets you prepared for the tough stuff.
Very critical grader. Easy tests, but grades your essays very harshly. I would not reccomend him. It is hard to understand what he wants from you.
He is good for students that are majoring in English, unlike me. I was not clear of what he expected. In class he would use my essay as an exceptional example and after improving it would turn around and fail the essay. I would not recomend this teacher unless you are really interested in this field.
Not clear about what he wants from you on essays. Extremely critical grader. If you are a professional writer, you might pass with a B. I would NOT take this prof. Drop him if you can!!! Run before you fail!!!
Partridge's class is not an easy A if you are not a good writer to begin with, but he gives you all sorts of opportunity to earn a higher grade. I really appreciated the chance to rewrite essays, especially since I bombed one bad (my fault). The essays were interesting, and he has a sharp sense of humor, too. Take him.
While he is open to classroom discussion, he and the class focused too heavily to English majors. Non-majors would feel out of place and overwhelmed.
I love this guy! All you have to do is read the assigned text and take notes in class. I had to take four classes off in a row and he was very understanding. I studied only the nights before tests and got a B.
There aren't any "late papers" and he allows you to do rewrites on them for a better grade. He helps you along with your paper b/c you do "Swiss Cheese" steps(brings certain parts of the paper to class at different times). Very helpful!!! I'm am taking him again for 1302!!
I learned a lot. almost half the class makes A's on his tests, though he grades essays a little harder (I only made an 88 after making a 98 and 96 on two tests). Great sense of humor too.
Mr. Partridge is an excellent teacher! He prepares you to be able to write a sutiable essay/paper for any class, not just english. With his "no late paper" policy it is easy to fall behind, but as long as you don't get caught up in procratination you should be fine. He is awesome, aussie, and stylin' in his red shoes!! I definalty recommend him!
Slackers beware. Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy ride. Lit Crit is geared towards Eng Majors, and should only be taken otherwise if you are sincerely interested in literature and writing. Writing intensive and discussion is a must. Make time to ask what he wants because if you don't, you will be lost.
I really believe he likes to hear himself talk..boy can he go on and on. If poetry is not your thing dont take this class. Teacher moves rather quickly and do not have a chance to grasp any of the stuff he talks about. Very critical when grading your papers.
This teacher is really hard. On the bright side I came out an excellent writer...no joke. But this class was so hard that it took all of my time. You can make a decent grade because he gives you the chance to revise essays. But make no mistake about it, he grades very hard. You will have to use the tutors.
Mr. Partridge is overall a good teacher. People say hes hard, well, I didnt think I was a great writer and Engl. 1301 and 1302 I had him and passed with a B, I didnt do as much as I should have in the class either. You get a "Re-Do" so to speak on your papers to up your grade. Just go through and fix what he has marked in Red, its not hard.
Great, great professor learned a lot in his class. You must go to class or your not going to pass. periodic quizes on readings. If you want to do go on your tests you must take notes and memorize authors and work titles. Really not that hard if you just read the stories I can't stress that enough.
He is the pied piper of english!! He is awsome and hot and funny and great. He leads you to understanding and helps you reach your potencial before you even realize you are learning something. Wonderful! Take his classes-NOW!
I would recommend not taking this class unless you absolutely have to. Teacher can be unclear about subject matter, yet expects full comprehension from student. Essays at some point are assigned once a week, and there is always reading to do. Overall, this is a course for english majors only, in my opinion.
I am currently in Partridge's Literary Criticism class. You do learn a lot, but the work load is rather extreme at some points when an essay is assigned each week for quite a few weeks. He's very self-contradictory at times.Good instructor, but he needs to stop being so fickle on expectations for papers & ease up on the work load.
I don't like this professor: he's arrogant & boring, but that's MY own opinion. He places too much importance on classroom participation (the same 4 people run their mouths every time, sigh). Tests are stupid--half of the points come from memorizing titles, authors, & speakers--which is no indication of intellectual growth!
If you do most of the reading and show up to class most of the time, prepared, you can pass this class with a high grade easily. He gives practice test questions, and helps you with the thesis and rough drafts, something no other lit i've taken ever has done. I really enjoy listening to the discussion, and I don't feel dumb when I speak up.
This is the best English class I have ever taken. I'm not even an English major (communications). The class teaches you different ways of reading and of solving problems. He requires 5 mini essays, that he grades easy, just so long as your idea is good. The reading is easy, and you're on the honor system. Take this class if you like to think.
There were 21 students in class (out of 25 at the start of the semester) on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. That says a lot about how many will pass. There were only 6 in my history class the same day.
Partridge is great! awesome! I don't like english at all. But his lectures is so interesting and wonderful. i love to going to his class. He is helpful and respects everyone. He make the class fun. Jokes a lot, funny & sarcastic but not in a mean way, more ironic. He is Excellent teacher!! Extremely recommend!
He chose the cheapest text available, that says alot. he does expect you to read, but gives few really easy pop quizzes. Some of the readings are hard, but I always understand them better after class. he leads the class to understanding, and doesn't simply lecture at us. funny and great Australian accent. Good class if you have to take lit.
HE IS GOOD! He is a little on the hard side but is willing to help out as much as he can. I am not an english person and he helped me through!
this class was by far the most interesting class i had last semester. he isnt easy but theres no reason to not pass his class.he answers all your questions and works with you when you need help.i would recommend him to anyone
He is very nice, and funny. He has a strong Australian accent and when he reads from the book it keeps your interest just because of that! He encourages student participation, the tests are fair he doesn't put trick questions, and you go in there knowing what to expect. I do recommend him.
This is the third time I've taken this class. I failed the first 2 times because I didnt understand what the prof wanted, but Partridge explains everything, and gives practice test questions in advance. I'll make an A now.I had to swap books cause the other profs used a differnt book, but I got $ back because he uses the cheapest book. great class
Took this prof. for Technical Writing. He is a great teacher. Gives a lot of chances to get good grades. No paper is ever "late", he just grades a little more harshly when you don't get the assignment in on time. I would definitely take this prof. again. You will need the book to take his quizzes.
Technical Writing was the class I most dreaded prior to the start of the semester but it turned out to be my most fun class. Even the tests were fun. I even got a free dinner doing one of the assignments. If you have to take technical writing, take this guy.
I didn't like his teaching style, He plays favorites and came off as rude. I worked as hard as i could with mym papers, and still couldn't get a passing grade, yet when I would ask him for help...still didn't clarify enough or added too much to the assignment.
I have never made better than a C in English class, but after rewrites should make a B in his class. Class is fun. He doesn't spoonfeed you, but helps you thnk and learn. He also struck deal with bookstore so that we get more money back for our textbook. Cool guy, and funny too.
quite innovative: uses group activities to ensure student interaction (which greatly increases his work load). largest complaint: he's an australian and, therefore, talks funny.
Most fun class I have taken in a long time. The readings are mostly short, and some of them tedious, but he makes the class fun and funny. I learned a lot, more than in most classes.
Great class. Tests are easy because he gives practice questions and encourages study group. Just take good notes. You have a choice of about 15 one page mini essays, and long essay was a personal response to readings--easy too. LEctures are interesting because he is funny and ironic.
great professor. you'll actually learn something. class is interesting he's a professor who actually has a personality.
Best class I have taken in a long time. Everyone who started the class passed; hardly anybody dropped. One of those rare profs who actually motivate you to do the work, try hard, and learn--and you look forward to class. And the gut is funny too.
I enjoyed his class a lot. I am one who is not a writer but he helps you out if you ask for it. His tests are not hard but there not easy ether. You will do a lot of writing in the class, and class is mandatory for a passing grade for he goes over what will be on the test as you read. Take notes do the papers and read and you should pass
He is a great professor so far ijust started his class 1 week ago. I love his british accent and he is looking hot! He makes a fantastic professor.
I forgot to add that he is very helpful.
This may be the best class outside my major I have ever taken. Most literature classes are boring, but Partridge taught us different ways of answering problems. By the end I was using concepts I learned from him in my other classes. Class is fun and interactive, not just some prof yammering on and on endlessly.
He is a very good professor. He explains all the material well and makes it virtualy impossible to fail his class. Attend, listen, take notes and do the assignments and you are sure to, at the very least, pass. He does, however, make EVERY reading about sex! He made American Lit fun and interesting!
I usually hate English but I loved this class. I learnd a lot. He had us write a science report about throwing paper planes and we threw paperplanes around in class one day. He was great about telling to put information in mypapers where it should of been. I just wish the class was longer so I could of learned more.
hes awesome, funny and a great teacher. His class is easy if you just do the work and put in effort.
Great professor. Very funny and articulates ideas well. He is always available to his students, and perfectly willing to assist and make time for you if he knows you are trying in his class. Makes class enjoyable and I hate to miss. My favorite teacher so far at SAC. And for all the comments saying he is British- he's NOT. He's Australian.
He had a great class outlined setup that interaction classmates and with the teacher. I would highly recommend Garry Partridge as an instructor. Good interaction with the students. This guy is a HOOT!
He makes class fun, and makes sure that you understand the material. stuck to due dates and very willing to help. He always returned my calls or emails! Mr. Partridge also give good feedback and keeps up to date on your progress and grades. I'm taking him for another class
ok, class is not fun. Class is full of pretentious english majors who think a little too highly of themselves (professor included). Maybe I'm just in the wrong area of study... Anyways, everyone else likes the guy but I thought he was a little too sarcastic and rude but he does respond to your emails rather quickly :)
The class was challengin would only take it if im an english major took it part of a Engl Lit Reqmt. The class is taught straight out of the textbook so be willin to read alot i do agree with the comment that only selected few do participate. Started out the class with like 25 only finished with about a handful 10.
Professor teaches from his perspective he does think highly of himself, sarcastic at times grades based on(2 exams),students show no real improvement and will only favor certain student who he feels are qaulified to pass his class(some of these other ppls comments are balony!)very egocentric and should be teaching elsewhere. TAKE at your own RISK.
One of the best classes I have ever taken at SAC and certainly the best English class I have ever taken. Everything is spelled out at the start of the semester and he gives practice test questions so that you know what to expect and how to study. I learned more in this class that in my 3 other English classes combined. The class was funny too.
The class is interesting. Only a few people in class participate so class can get boring. But the readings were decent. I hated poetry and ended up liking it toward the end. The class is not hard just do your work. the tests are easy you have to be an idiot to fail. He doesnt grade that hard in your essays as well. so people who complain are lazy.
I think the person who posted 2x on 5/20 was the guy who sat behind me, when he was in class. He didn't buy the book and hardly showd up, and still expected to pass the class. lol. Class was easy, and the readings started kind of boring with the puritans but got good by the end. Professor made the class funny and easily passable if you simply try
The best teacher I've ever had in college. His teaching style is very engaging, he is hesitant to offer any of his personal interpretation of the literature, and is very quick to help. I just signed up for my third class with him and I wish he taught more than those three classes. You will not regret taking his class.
I'm paying a lot of money to go to Baylor during the regular semesters and thought I would pick up a summer class at SAC for cheap. This class and professor is as good or better than any core class I took at Baylor. Discussion is enlightening, the prof is funny, and tests are easy if you study (and prof gave practice test questions). Recommend.
Funny, scarastic professor from austriala. His tests are based from the stories/poems in the book. I would def. take him again. He requires one long essay due at the end of the semester and 5 small mini essays due throughout. he assigns 12 so you choose 5 out of those.
Fabulous class. I learned a lot. One of the best classes I have taken in college. No tests, except the final, which is open book. Grading is based on easy mini-essays, longer essays that are from your best mini-essays, and participation. Highly recommend. Funny too
Very hard, but I took him because I wanted to learn about Amer Lit & considering taking other half of Amer Lit with him. Writting iclude 5 of 15 "Mini-Essays" & 1 "Long-Essay". Note grades hard, but writes comments on improving. Final not comprehensive. Total of 3 tests (including final). Tests are not essay format. Answer questions about qoute.
Best English class ever taken because he provides instructions for everything. We had practice test questions in advance, a practice mini-essay that he graded and a rough draft of long essay. First A that I ever made in English.
Funny scarastic professor from Austraila. The tests were a little hard because he writes quotes/lines from a story and you have to tell the meaning of the quote/story lines. Also must know author and title. 5 mini essays due which are like two pages and one long essay due at the end of the semester. I would take him again.
Prof. Partridge was an incredibly positive professor. If you answered a question in class you were often showered in his accolades, laughter, and smile. Grading was just the right balance of challenge to keep you doing the work, but easy enough to get an A for effort. If I have a choice, I'll be sure to take his class again.
The class is really easy. At first the stories can be a little confusing but he goes over them in class and helps to clarify them. If you are someone who does not like to talk I do not recommend this professor because if no one is participating he will choose random people to give their perspective of the story.
I knew I was not going to like this guy the minute I walked into class. He seemed arrogant and a bit withdrawn but I had to swallow his presence for at least a semester since Intro Lit/Literary Criticism is a requirement for English majors and he happens to be the only professor teaching it.
The amount of work he assigns is pretty unreasonable. One mini-essay a week, three major essays, large amounts of reading. I wish he could remember that students have other classes. I understand that this is college, but this amount of assignments really is too much. This coming from an English major.
READ READ READ and WRITE WRITE WRITE!!! Reading and participating in class is very important to pass this class. If you don't participate you will get a low participation grade. Also, make sure you DO YOUR ESSAYS!!! I didn't do the minimum amount and I got a C. His tests are pretty challenging as well so make sure you READ!!!
Readings are mostly short, with a few longer ones, and pop quizzes are super easy. He assignes only 1 long essay and 5 one-page miniessays. His test are easy if you go to class and listen, and he gives lots of practice test questions. I am going to make my first A ever in English. Take him.
Professor Partridge is a great instructor, but his class is not easy. He will challenge you, get you to think outside the box, and he WILL make you a better writer. Do not take Literary Criticism unless you want to write! 6 mini essays, 3 large essays, and a final that's all comprehensive writing. If you're an English Major, this is the guy to take
Very good professor. He does a great job in explaining every literature, and gives out questions to make us think. He gives extra credit by simply participating in class discussions. You must read all assigned stories in order to understand his lectures and to pass tests. Tests are pretty easy, just make sure you read the assigned stories.
After three different courses, I can report that Mr. Partridge is a highly skilled instructor. His class discussions are interesting, and he possesses a favorable, laid-back attitude (as long as you do the reading). He offers help and takes class participation into consideration. Take his classes.
Taking American Literature in the summer so that I don't have to retake it at Baylor. At Baylor, the class was too hard, but this guy makes it interesteing and do-able. Practice test questions and short essays which you choose which ones to do. Easy quizzes. Recommend
post reading online . speak up in class and know what the reading is about .I Found The Tests to be hard . because of significance of the story !
I heard a radio ad today that said people are 50% more likely to tell others about bad experiences than about good experiences with businesses. Same applies here; Partridge is getting only 2-3 reviews are year because there's nothing bad to complain about. It's a good class. 24 students took the final meaning only 3 dropped-and we all learned alot
personal level found him annoying. asked a lot of open ended questions which were followed by long pauses. had to wright mini essays about once a week but there graded more on your understanding of the concept then the overall quality of work although it is factored into the grading. final is open book and very intrinsic
No text book saved me about $100-he posts all the readings online. Most readings were easy, fairly short, and fun. I did well on the tests because he gave us practice test questions in advance, so you knew what to study. Even the essays were easy if you did them. nearly everyone who started the semester took the final, so that says alot.
Very insightful! For tests, you must read and memorize. It isn't too bad though when you actually read because you will remember especially from lectures. In class, mainly discuss readings the whole time. Occasional pop quiz. Fair grader. You get what you deserve. A bit of a smart aleck, but funny guy. I am taking him again next semester!
Okay so Mr. Partridge in a Pear Tree is so remarkably smart & if you stick through it, it's worth it. Yeah, you probably won't get the grade you want but the skills you learn in technical writing will help you in so many classes. You won't be happy with your grades, but there aren't any tests! Everything is real-world applicable, and I loved it.
My third time taking him because he teaches many english courses so I took them all. He is so insightful & he can be tough on grading, but what you learn is going to last a lifetime. He gets the class to talk & think outside the box. Your writing will improve in this class. Best teacher at SAC by far. Wish I could take him for more courses.
Mr. Partridge is a real teacher. I have taken him a couple times now, and my writing has greatly improved. His classes involve a lot of essays, but to me, that is the point. Highly recommended.
I took Professor Partridge for Lit Crit and learned a lot more than I thought I would, he is very helpful and although he makes you work for your grade (what do you expect) his class is very fun. I like to think I have become a better writer because of him. Would recommend and will be taking again.
I took ENGL2311, Technical Writing, with this professor. While he was very helpful when needed, he also gave very difficult tests and often wasn't clear about assignments (but that in part was probably due to the students). The class as a whole though was very beneficial to me.
I made a D in Freshman Composition, but made B in Technical Writing with Partridge. He allows rewrites which helped a lot. Most assigments are only one page. Follow the instructions in the text and follow his in-class instructions, and the class is easy enough. 21 students started the class and 18 were still there for the final--says a lot
In the last 2 semesters I have taken him for 4 classes. I learned more with him than any other class, and I also noticed the other students who were in 2 or more classes with me learned the most and performed the best in his class. Follow instructions and the class is very doable with a good grade. My almost 3.0 gpa is because of the A's I made
Great Professor for some.
Readings are on Canvas so u don't have to pay. Class participation is a grade based on your attendance and inclass discussion. 5 mini essays(500 words or under) and 1 long essay(1000-1500words). 3Tests make sense if you go to class. One of the best profs I've ever had at SAC or otherwise. He actually promotes thought. Def taking him again
You will learn a lot in this class. He loves participation, so give out your ideas and tell him what you think. There's a lot of writing but he isn't a harsh grader. I received an A and I am no way a great writer. Just show up, participate, and do all your papers that are assigned. I will really miss this class!
You will learn alot in his class, but be ready to figure out everything by your self. He offers himself after or during the class to answer any questions you may have, but he will be extremely rude and sarcastic. Overall, he won't help you at all. Just go to writing center and ask them all the questions you need. They will help you alot.
He grades very fairly and helps you so well to succeed his class.
you'll learn more in English lab more than his class,"He offers himself after or during the class to answer any questions you may have, but he will be extremely rude and sarcastic." and it's so true. Also, he grades unfairly.
He is rude and not useful at all, you have to figure out everything by yourself or in the lab. if he likes you you'll get good grades from essays!!!!
NEVER takes his class!unless you absolutely have to.
He's not so helpful, he's sarcastic in a rude way, he gives feedback but its always as a general way not directed toward you or your paper. He offers himself during office hours and after class but even at that he is not helpful whatsoever. If anything I wouldn't recommend taking his class.
great lectures, gets the point across, gives great feedback
The class is designed so that if U do the work, and come to class with mostly easy homework done, there is no way you can get less than a B. I made a B without really trying, and coulda made an A if I simply didn't skip that much. Do the rewrites based on the profs good feedback and your set.
took Maymester E#NGL 1302 Composition 2. No textbook, all the readings were from the internet, so saved $100. Three essays with rewrite options. I did the rewrites and somehow made an A in the class, never did that before.
Fabulous class. Learned more than I ever thought I would or ever thought I wanted to
Great class. Assignments were clear, with good examples, good feed back, and re write options. Am taking him again for American Literature
27 students started the class and only 2 have dropped, so that shows how well the class is going. Most assignments are short, and he allows rewrites on low grades to improve your grade.
Perhaps the best class I have ever taken. The class was supposed to be for English majors but about 50%of us were there just for humanities credit. I learned so much. He leads you thru all of the major assignments so that u know what to expect and how to get a good grade. I barely made C- in previous English classes but almost made an A with him
Fabulous. Learn a lot. and the whole class is making at least a B, two-thirds are making an A
He shows you exactly what he wants, so if your smart enough to follow simple instructions you can easily make an A, and learn something in the process
great class
Very good critical-thinking class. Claas is discussion based mostly teaching you how to think about different writing styles and theories. And then the little essays become the tests of how well you learned it AFTER learning it (and not before like many essays I wrote in the past.
Professor Partridge, was by far the worst teacher I had. He didn't help me or benefit me at all in his class. He is very strict on how he grades his assignments, unless you know English fairly well and don't need any help or guidance then his class is perfect for you. If you struggle with English a little I'd recommend a different teacher. 4/10 rec
he is tough and doesn't respect his students. not recommended
Does not provide adequate information for the students on Essays/assignments, but expects us to have done them in a certain manner and also he didn't respond to any of my Emails. If I had to choose between taking this professor again, and waiting until the next semester for a different professor, I would wait
I took his class as a (5-wk) summer course because it was a requirement. We were required to write 3 essays in order to get an A. However, we spent so much time on the 1st essay (almost 2.5 weeks) that it was nearly impossible to get a good grade on the other 2. He also had to assign the other 2 and never got around to it. would chose other prof.
I don't recommend Gary Partridge to anybody unforchantly, because I hardly learned anything from him. When he talks to his students he is very vague, and confusing. I was failing his class for most of the semester, but it was a miracle that I passed his class last semester. Good luck.
Took American Lit. No Textbook required, all the readings were online. His tests were easy, 80% of the class made a B or better on every test, but beware that test question all come from class discussion. He does ask for 5 mini-essays (easy) and one longer paper, but it's a personal opinion paper so not hard. Good Class
This guy is awesome!! If you get offended by honest feedback don't take his class, he is very honest and won't hesitate to tell you what needs to be fixed. I've learned so much in the course and highly recommend. He provides re-writes for 3/4 papers and is very involved with the class!! I'm taking him again for English composition 2.
Learned a lot. He allows rewrites until you get the grade you want. No textbook. am gonna take him for Comp 2
I tried taking this class 3 times before and dropped each time because I wasn't passing. And then I took the class with Partridge. He gives so many ways of passing, all you have to do is do the work, sometimes multiple times, but he shows you how to pass. I made a B
Took this professor for Comp 2 Maymester after taking his comp 1 course. Maymester was the best decision I've ever made! It is VERY fast paced but if you're willing to put in the work its an easy A. Allowed a rewrite on 2/3 essays and you got to chose your final topic. He is also hilarious, 100% recommend him!!!
Happy that I took American Lit. to get my Humanities credit. No text book--all the readings are in CANVAS. The tests were easy, he gives practice test questions and half the class made an A. He does ask for mini-essays, but you get to choose the topics your write about. I ended up with my best English class grade I ever got.
I just scored a perfect 100 on his american literature test, and so did 2 others. I have never scored a 100 before, ever. He gives practice tests, and allows you to make up mini essays. Class is fun and funny and if you pay attention you can work out what will be on the test. And you dont have to buy a textbook.
Technical Writing was the most useful class I have taken out of my major, more useful than most classes in my major. Partridge really focusses on what the writing should do for each reader. I learned more in this class than all English classes I have ever taken. We did 8 papers, but 6 were only one page or less. I did rewrites for extra credit
Great class. Great proff. Learned alot.
He's not always easy to deal with, and can come off dismissive and kind of rude. There are quizzes every week or every other week, and you have to read the chapters on your own. Every class you're working on an assignment. He's super picky and a tough grader, but I got an A surprisingly. His humor is dry, but he isn't that bad.
One of the hardest classes Ive had!!! He doesnt respond to emails and he is not respectful.
So, when the coronavirus shut everthing down, the class went online, and then everything got changed. Class became quizzes (really easy), online discussions (just post alot), and 2 essays. He gave good clear examples, read and commented on everyone's drafts with clear instructions and grades were good.
I took the Maysemester 3wk course, it was very hard because he is such a strict grader when it comes to essays. He hates receiving emails and would respond very dismissive so try to avoid emailing him if you can so you can stay on his good side. When it comes to him teaching the subject of English he is very great. A lot of writing.
