He takes an interest that you actually learn the material. He is always willing to stay after class hours to help you with anything that you need. Very easy to talk with, highly recommend!
Gary Arnet is one of the most valuable teachers that Chico State has. I took the class in spring 05' and was just doing it as GE. But Gary is one of the most friendly and helpful teachers any student would be lucky to come across. I would highly reccomend him to anybody. Now I switched my major to Pre-med. Learning about the human body is awesome!
Great guy and awesome professor..really teaches to a level where students can understand.willing to help out and talk to you about anything.very friendly person and overall wants everyone to do well in his class.would definately recommend him to anyone.
Gary is extremely helpful. Don't ever be scared to ask him anything. He not only tells you the info, but he also wants to help you learn it. Get Gary as you teacher.
Incredible teacher! One of the those amazing teachers that can make you learn more in his class than in any other class, and at the same time make the class easy and fun! Wants everyone to get an A, willing to just chat it up with you at anytime, help you with anything. Take him even if you don't need to just to say you had a teacher thisgoodatChic
He is a really nice teacher and he is very understanding. I am not a biology major or even good at biology but I am passing the class with a A-. He does what he can to make the class easier to understand. Be aware that you do have to study in order to pass the test.
great teacher- incredubly cool guy- the guest lectures were so-so, but when he lectures on his subjects, you can tell he knows a vast amout about what he's talking about- this class is pretty cool- i was surprised- i hadn't taken any science for almost four years and it wasn't a real challenge. just don't buy the book you really don't need it
Oh, what a great guy! He is very laid back, very friendly, and helpful! He is legitimate too because he is a retired surgeon. How cool! He is very down to Earth, as well. I am never afraid to ask questions. The class (Anatomy Lab) is very difficult though. Quizzes every week. But if you study, you'll do fine.
AMAZING!!! he is the best teach I have ever had. He is not tough and is there to help his students out whenever. He is one of the smartest people in his field and just knows everything possible about biology...I really recommend him
really wants everyone to do good in his class. he has a good way of explaining things so everyone understands.
BEST teacher I've ever had!! Very passionate about teaching and it clearly shows! I wish all teachers were like him. He's always willing to help you if you're unclear about anything. Subject matter in his classes are well worth learning. I wish he taught more classes! Take him even if you don't need the class.. you'll learn so much!
He is an amazing man. Great teacher
great
Excellent teacher. He knows exactly what he is talking about, and makes the class fun and interesting. He is easy to find in his office and is always willing to help.
He's a great teacher!!! Take him if you get a chance. He really wants you to learn and is just an awesome guy.
Arnet is one of those professors who really loves his job and it shows in the way he teaches and treats his students. He is very clear on what you need to know and how to prepare. He will give you all of the tools and info to be successful. He has limited patience for lazy students or students who aren't willing to put in the time.
He is the best teacher ever...He answer any question you ask...Quizzes are not that hard...so far got 2 take home quizzes...and the best part of the exam is that the sudy guide is exactly the test, but just without the answer...so there isn't that much studing...this class is fun you should take it...it's worth it..
He is a really great teacher and knows what he is talking about. He tells you only the stuff you really need to know and makes it interesting and easy to understand. The quizzes and tests are easy, all the answers are in lecture notes. There was no textbook and guest lecturers are interesting which means you need to go to class or get the notes.
Passionate interested extremely knowledgeable and fair. I?ve never had a better teacher
this is a tough class for anyone but he is very good explaining things in a way that everyone can understand. quiz every lab day but easy if u study the material. i would recommend taking him over any other lab prof.
Great teacher! Very enthusiatic. Everything he teaches in class is on his tests. Study your notes very well and you'll get an A. No outside projects or reading, just attend class and take good notes.
He is an amazing professor, if you are taking anatomy try to get him, if you study for all of the quizzes you will easily ace the class! he made the material that we learned very interesting and made everything super easy to learn!
He is a GREAT teacher. He knows exactly what he is talking about and is extremely helpful. This course is somewhat hard because a lot of studying is involved. Gary makes everything much easier. I recommend him.
Great Teacher! So helpful, passionate, and intelligent. I would not recommend anyone else. But tests are very difficult if you do not study well enough. Go to each class, and start studying at least a week before the exam and you'll do just fine!
great teacher.Just study and attend class you should be fine.Best biology teacher I ever had.I highly recommend him!
Dr. Arnet is a wonderful professor and has the experience to answer almost all questions you might have about anatomy. It is a reasonably difficult class, but if you pay attention, have good attendance and study you will do well. Attending SI with Denny also really helps.
AMAZING professor, made a difficult anatomy class crystal clear and so relevant. Made me want to come to class. Great at explaining in detail and not just "telling" you the information. Best professor I have ever had.
Fabulous teacher! He's got a great personality and takes a great interest in his students. The class itself is quite easy as long as you just sit down and memorize the terms.
Dr. Arnet is one of the nicest people you will ever meet that is very passionate about teaching. He really strives to help students receive the grades they want and learn study skills to succeed. His tests are hard, but that is only because this class has a lot of material and requires a lot of time for studying. The most influential instructor.
Awesome professor!! Learned so much in this class. This class requires a lot of studying because but its all worth it at the end.
This is one of the best classes I have taken. He is an awesome professor. If you attend class and study you will do just fine. I would recommend getting a tutor or attending SI it helps a lot. Overall it was a very fun an interesting class!
Arnet it probably the best professor i've had in Chico. His classes are really hard, but he keeps you interested and makes you want to learn the material. I had him for both anatomy and biology of cancer. If you are struggling he will only help you. He is truly brilliant, and very very nice!
Excellent instructor. Very student friendly and offers a very positive learning opportunity. Very clear instruction and offers helpful learning tools.
I personally thought he was very difficult. He made me dread exams after long hours of study. I also thought that he read off of his slides too much and turned something that is very interesting into something that was dry. He was tough and I would not recommend him. While I learned a lot, I think he could have put forth a little more effort.
Gary Arnet..."I don't normally post lab study guides online.....but when I do.....I make sure they are not labeled"
This class has a lot of material to cover so it's pretty difficult, especially if you don't keep up each week. However, Arnet makes it simple by telling you exactly what information you should know, so be sure to go to lecture and take notes! I also recommend going to SI and getting a tutor.
Arnet is an awesome professor. I absolutely loved his class and his style of teaching. He went above and beyond and really made things easy to comprehend. A lot of had work is involved but it is possible and the payoff is there. I received an A but I worked for it. Attend SI, get a tutor, attend open lab, and study! Taking him again for BIO 345!
Aren't is AWESOME. Very helpful and very clear. You don't NEED to attend lecture as long as someone can get the fil in the blank spots on his notes. He is a great teacher though and very funny. Very passionate about teaching and understands that anatomy is a hard subject. GO TO TUTORING and the tutoring review sessions. They'll save you.
Dr. Arnet is such a nice guy! He actually cares how his students do, if you take the time to ask questions. Lab practicals can get pretty difficult, so make sure to go to open lab. Getting a tutor is a great idea for his class.
I was wrongly advised to take this course simply to complete the life science credit , and it killed me. Only take this class if you live and breathe anatomy. It's nothing but the rote memorization of facts, and such is Arnet's teaching - reading them off a powerpoint. If you need it, go ahead. Otherwise, run away screaming.
This is an easy course to get a C or B in, but it's kind of difficult to get an A. He doesn't curve, so you have to consistently study, attend lectures, and test well to earn an A. The course is about cancer, epidemiology, nutrition, and other common diseases like diabetes and heart diseases.
Very good instructor. He is clear and direct. He isn't afraid to tell anyone to back off if they aren't doing what they are suppose to be doing, but he is mostly easy going and nice. Do exactly what he tells you. VERBATIM!! You will pass. It comes down to him helping more than what you think.
Dr. Arnet keeps class interesting so lectures are not boring at all. Attendance is mandatory if you want to ace the course. Tests are based almost purely on lecture material. Online quizzes are based on book reading, but these points are minimal compared to points for the test. I recommend filling in his slides and objectives as you listen in class
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR GE at all costs! This is a 300 level course. Be prepared to memorize and stress over this class for the whole semester. All memorization, all useless things you will forget a week later. The class structure is horrible & fast, there is too much expectations for just a 100 level course. I repeat, AVOID ANATOMY AT ALL COSTS
Let's be real DO NOT take this class if you're just taking it for a GE. Worst mistake of my life! The tests are completely hard! This class should be called Anatomy of disease! You are expected to know more about anatomy than diseases! Don't get me wrong Arnet is a good guy but hard professor. Teaches as if you plan on being a future doctor.
Extremely knowledgeable professor. Know's his field extremely well. Nice guy cares about your success but he's a no BS kinda teacher. If you know the material you'll pass the class if you dont then you won't that simple.
Very hard class that requires lot of work. Arnet is a very helpful and nice guy. He does not curve grades at all. Do not take this class unless it is mandatory for your major. This class requires the same amount of work as two classes because of the lab and lecture.
Arnet is an amazing instructor. He expects a lot from you, but his classes are completely manageable with a little effort. He is funny and always makes the class worthwhile. I'm an English major and got an A in both Health and Lifestyle Disease and Human Anatomy with him. Love Arnet!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR GE CREDIT PLEASE!! You'll be pulling your hair out all week trying to cram all the information into your head. Arnet himself is sweet but the amount of material you need to learn in the amount of time they give you is absurd. Only take this class when you are beyond prepared to work for it.
Every Chico State student should take BIOL 345. It covers a great wealth of material that will help you stay healthy and live longer. Most of your grade comes from exams, so be prepared to study a little. The exams are not too difficult as long as you take good notes and review them. Dr. Arnet is wonderful, btw.
Dr. Arnet is an awesome person and professor. Makes you work for it but loves his students.
He sets high expectations, but provides students with plenty of resources to take advantage of including, open-lab, tutors, group-studies (free), office hours, etc. He explains very thoroughly and always helps out with confusion. Best professor I've had in all 5 years of college.
By far the best anatomy teacher you can ask for. He is clear, concise, and expectations are reasonable. There are a plethora of resources to help you succeed and one only needs to approach him for clarification and guidance. He is a retired successful oral surgeon and his approach to anatomy is practical and inspiring.
Arnet is an amazing professor. Both courses are information intensive and it's really important to stay on top of the material. He wants you to do well and sets you up for success. DO THE STUDY GUIDES and go to class. If you do your part you're sure to get a good grade.
I have the utmost respect for Dr. Arnet. He is a very successful man in all things he is involved with and an excellent professor. His lectures are interesting and easy to follow. If you complete study guides for exams and study them you will do fine in the class. It is A LOT of studying though so be serious about it.
Dr. Arnet is by far the best professor I've had for a science class. He is not only super passionate about the topic, but makes it very clear what is expected to do well in the class. He is very good at giving you exactly what you will need to succeed and the class is very well organized. I loved this class and would take it again with him!
Arnet is an awesome anatomy teacher, its the hardest class you'll ever take because there is just so much material. If you fail the class, it's not because of the professor
Arnet is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. He is intelligent, easily approachable and really cares for his students' success. He also tells relevant stories in his lecture and his great attitude is always uplifting. Highly recommend!
Dr. Arnet is a wonderful professor. His lectures are always very interesting and you learn so much within one lecture. This course was enjoyable and I would take it again.
I took this class first semester of my freshman year and that was a big mistake. I failed because there was ton of memorization and you need to spend A LOT of time studying. I could've passed but didn't put forth the time.
This should be an upper division class. WAY too much information is attempted to be given in one semester. Make certain you have a light load with your other classes AND personal obligations in your personal life when you take this class.
Horrible at the skill of teaching.
Dr. Arnet is very nice and approachable, provides all the information you need for the class. Unfortunately, the class itself is really hard. It is a ton of information you need to learn and/or memorize! Lecture tests are really tough, lots of studying to do. He is willing to help and provides extra credit on tests though. Book is needed!
This professor THINKS he is clear, but he is not. He is helpful to those that are deemed "worthy" which is specifically based on how high your grade is. It's assumed that one is a poor student or half-assing the class if you don't have a high grade . That just isn't true. Personally I put in a TON of time and effort and am irritated.
The class itself is difficult but very interesting. Lectures are clear but dry and exam questions are straight from lecture. The only complaint I have is his attitude. He claims to be a nice approachable guy, but when you ask a question he will ask you a different one first. If you're right, he's a sweet man. If you are unsure he will eat you alive
Do not take this teacher unless you have to! Worst class I've ever taken and completely unhelpful on how to succeed in office hours. Test are pretty much all of your grade and the small online quizzes don't weight in for much. Beware.
no attendance is taken but you have to show up. many tutoring options are available, go to all of them. Lots of information, study is recommended 6-7 hours per week. Plus the lab section is hard too. Its difficult to balance lab and lecture studying. this class has a 50% pass rate you either get an A or an F. The teachers scares you out of it
You don't really need to show up to lecture, because he just reads of the ppt. His tests are long, but as long as you master his study guides, you should do well. The grading is pretty straight-forward but there is just a lot of material which is what makes it difficult. Overall, he seems like a nice guy. He used to be a surgeon!
Professor Arnet is the best professor I've ever had, anatomy was pretty difficult but Arnet makes the class entertaining. He keeps things light and understands how overwhelmed students can get. He's aways willing to help students, to him there are no stupid questions you can ask. He will help you pass if you're willing to work hard for it.
Arnet is an amazing professor. He is a retired surgeon, giving students the upper hand learning from a professor who has actually put what he's teaching you to use in the medical field. Yes his lectures are lengthy and very dense, definitely need to put in the work to pass. Such an interesting and intelligent man. Very organized. Highly recommend
Dr. Arnet is an incredible lecture professor. He really knows what he is teaching. You have to put in the work to pass his class, but it is a science class so that is to be expected. Take advantage of the free time you have in lab and really study the cadavers while you have the opportunity. Use his office hours!!!
You will definitely need to work for your grade. It's very time consuming but studying will get you an A. There are tons of extra credit opportunities, you can get three with every lab quiz and 5 for every lecture exam. He is very wise and cares about the students who put effort into the class so don't be afraid to ask him any questions.
Dr. Arnet is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He has clear expectations and gives you everything you need to succeed in his class. He even personally emails you if you do well on the exams. Go to SI, tutoring, and open lab! You have to put in the work to get an A, but it's definitely possible!
If you don't have to take this class , DON'T! I've taken anatomy twice already and failed both times. Even with open lab, SI and studying everyday, I still can't get above a D. The lab quizzes and exams are nearly impossible to pass and effect your grade so much because they are not multiple choice and spelling matters.
Arnet is one of the best professors ever!! He cares a lot about his students. This class requires hard work and dedication, youll learn so much about the human body! I loved this class and lab was fun for me. Be prepared to study just about everyday and with that you will do great. Anatomy is fun!
Love Dr. Arnet. BIO 345 is really interesting. Tests are online, except the in-class cumulative final. Tests aren't hard, just show up and pay attention in lecture. Study for the final and you'll pass the class
He's a nice guy. But he is a terrible lecturer. He has created a "lecture learning guide" which is a binder full of pictures and confusing and awkwardly placed headings. Sometimes you fill it out and sometimes you don't. He regularly skips pages of his guide, but his guide is where he pulls questions from. He will casually glaze over crucial info.
Arnet is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I have never studied so much in my life for Anatomy, BUT if you are taking this class you are planning to be in the medical field. So don't expect an easy A class. You have to put in a good amount of time for lab and lecture, but it is so rewarding. I got an A in the class. IT IS POSSIBLE.
Worst class ever, made me hate anatomy so much. He skips over soooo much important information and upon studying you'll be so lost. 4 lecture exams and 3 lab exams, all are 80/85 questions. Really don't think he actually teaches anatomy, focuses more on diseases having to do with parts of body, but what he leaves out is on the test. Don't take.
Absolutely loved this class, but it was NOT easy. You have to work hard, study for hours and hours, and ask questions in this class. It is memorization heavy, but ways to help remember this tough content is to apply it to yourself. People don't realize how much points matter in this class, so try and get every extra credit point you can get!!
take this class else where you have to really have the time for this class it will suck the soul out of you you'll hate science after this class the lab exams are the worst exams you'll ever have to take i don't know what giving birth feels like but i rather do that or jump off a cliff than take this class again with him
You have to purchase an $80 learning guide that he goes over during lecture BUT his lectures don't even match the guide. It was frustrating taking this course because I have to take this class for my major but he mostly focuses on nursing and kine tips. He spends half of lecture time speaking about things they need to know rather than lecture.
I've never worked so hard in a class before. It is possible to do well in anatomy as long as you push through and study. Dr. Arnet is willing to help you. He likes to interact with his students before lecture which I thought that was great of him to do. His lectures are interesting and I ended up learning a lot and enjoying anatomy because of him.
I had to take BIO103 (Anatomy) twice. IT IS NOT AN EASY CLASS. I solely blame my low grade (the first time I took it) on myself for not taking advantage of SI and tutoring. Gary is a great guy, is passionate about his class, and is always willing to help. Anatomy requires a LOT of studying, but the tutoring helped me get a B second time around.
Gary is an amazing person and teacher. His lectures contain a lot of information that is important to succeeding in the class. It is really easy to get an A, but only if you work for it. You can't be mad at him for your own study habits. He's also a really caring person that is easy to talk to. Take advantage of the free tutoring the school offers.
Dr. Arnet is definitely a "tough love" professor. He challenges you to work, but it makes you stronger. His class was hard, and I wasn't one of his favorite students during the course. However, he played a large role in me finding my way after graduation. I know from my own experience that he is sincerely invested in his students succeeding.
He is kind of known as a kind of guy who will only let you show his slides once and never again I am very disappointed that he does not post his presentations on his black board like any other teacher that has common sense. I had also noticed that some of the questions on the study guide is not on the exam. He goes through his slides way to quickly
I advise do not take him unless you have to, I took this class for more fun.I spoke to him about a family death and as a professor I wished he show a bit more sympathy. The subject is great but the quizzes was what hurt me so don't miss any. Lectures. he goes way to fast and I used the book and still couldn't find some answers.
This class is not easy but he knows this. If you study and go to SI it is completely doable. There are lots of extra credit points built into quizzes and tests. You need the lab manual and all the tests are based on the lecture learning guide, don't need the textbook. MAKE LOTS OF FLASHCARDS!!
Dr. Arnet is absolutely amazing, but his anatomy class is the hardest thing I've taken in my life. He really does set you up for success. He has his own note taking guide which helps a lot. You really need to complete everything to pass. I highly recommend open lab as well. This class practically killed me, but Dr. Arnet wants people to succeed.
Dr. Arnet is the most wonderful professor I have ever met! He is a retired surgeon who teaches anatomy as a hobby. He really cares about the subject and wants you to learn the information, not just memorize it. The class isn't hard, it's just a lot of work, but is certainly doable! Dr. Arnet and his class has changed my life. 1000% recommend!!!
As a person, hes great. As a professor, hes horrible. Gary has the mindset of you either know it or you dont, there is no room for error. I understand that this is true in medicine, but by grading students so hard and by making lecture exams that are incredibly difficult he is only making student feel defeated which makes many feel like quitting
Gary is a great guy. He starts every lecture with a slideshow of his hikes which is great and overall he is a great lecturer. His lectures are easy to follow and is very clear and straightforward. He provides everything you need to get a good grade in the class as long as you pay attention and use quizlet.
Dr. Arnet is by far my favorite professors so far. He is very knowledgeable of the material and increased my interest in anatomy. Though the tests were somewhat difficult, take advantage of SI and tutoring. There's lots of information to retain, didn't have much of a life aside from this course.
Not only was this class one of the hardest things Ive ever taken, Gary seemed condescending to those of us who were taking it as a simple GE course. He doesnt post his slides on blackboard, rarely follows the lecture guide, and tests on material we havent learned. He also doesnt use diagrams on his tests, although we learn on diagrams.
After taking anatomy with him I was so shocked at how easy this class was. Exams and quizzes online, and he cancels class all the time just for fun. His lectures are a little boring, but you have to pay attention b/c he says stuff verbally a lot. Quizzes every week, but you get two attempts and the answers are straight up in the lecture.
I've known Dr. Arnet since my freshman year and just graduated extremely thankful to have met him. Anyone giving him a bad review is doing so because he is teaching anatomy, a memorization dense course. If you don't put in the time then obviously you'll fail, that's not his fault. He loves his students and is an amazing professor.
Gary is an amazing person. Honestly. He knows what he's saying and presents it with such confidence. His exams/ lectures?? heavy. very heavy. He wants you to have the mindset of whether you know it or not. that's it. I understand because you can't make mistakes in medicine but yeah he's tough. He didn't care about my depression but i still respect.
