OMG, this class was boring at first but he made it so interesting!!! Definitely recommend him! Don't bother to buy the book!! If you take notes that's all you need to get an A in the class! Did i mention that his tests are open note? The only thing you have to study for is the final. I learned so much from him!

If you pay attention in class and take notes, one can learn a great deal in his class. He is an intelligent teacher, but he does tend to be very opinionated. Of course, he always states, "Everything you are hearing could be wrong." The best way to communicate with him is through an email. I recommend taking him for Sociology.

If you are in college to learn something-take this course. You also need to know how to take notes, not that he doesnt give you a review sheet!, and listen to his discussions. You leave the class everyday wanting to tell someone what you learned and questioning what you have been conformed to learn in earlier education! Great professor!

Mr Battane is a really different and refreshing teacher. He jumps into subjects like no other class you’ll experience. He loves lots of student opinion and interaction. Take good notes and don’t be a “knuckle-head” and you’ll do fine. One of my all-time favorite classes.

I was in a summer nursing academy for highschool students over the summer. We were told we were going to take a study skills course and I thought 'oh no boring lectures & heavy notes' But I was blown away! He's always crystal clear when it came to getting his point across. You HAVE to be there and awake for his classes! Overall he's truly amazing!

Took this class a few semesters ago and LOVED IT! His lectures really made me think and his tests were so easy because everything on them he'd already talked about in class! the discussions/papers about the JFK conspiracy were my favorite parts of the class, his lectures make you question things, I loved it!

A really good teacher overall. His teaching strategy is a little different but you will learn something you can apply to everyday life. Wow. This class has served to be the single most eye-opening experience I?ve had in my high education pursuit. Gary Battane was an awesome professor. He has many strong beliefs and speaks about them. He is funny and serious, but somehow always finds a way to keep your attention. One of the funnest classes I have ever been in. There are 2 exams throughout the class, and a small paper-not much work at all. I got an A!!

Do NOT buy the textbook! You will not even open it and he does not test from it. Write down what he lectures on & that's exactly what'll be on the test. Obnoxious and opinionated. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!!! He only teaches on the chalkboard and he only goes over whats gonna be on the test. There are 3 tests counting the final and they are all accumulative. The first test is OPEN BOOK. With all the note taking done in this class it was only maybe 15 pages. Take him if you can, but he can be intense at times. It is an easy A.

The coolest Professor that i have ever had by far. He only used the textbook once for the first test. His homework load is pretty much non-existent. Only gives one research paper. Would take him again if he ever decided to teach any other subject.

This professor is the best I have had. He showed us how to have different view points and he created a reat teaching enviroment. Awesome professor, very passionate about politics. Really encourages students to think for themselves and not "drink the kool aid." 3 tests and one 2000 word paper are very straightforward. Great professor. Only 4 grades for this class- 3 exams and term paper. The key to this class is just taking good notes, but he makes that very easy. He will bust your chops for being late or not having a scantron but don't take it personally, it't not meant to be. This professor was definitely one of my favorites. He made every class interesting and ther tests were super easy. There was little to no homework, and definitely an easy A. Don't freak out about the term paper at the end, follow the intructions and you will get an A.

The class was super easy. You have to be trying to fail if you get less than an A. When lecturing, he makes it very clear on what is going to be on the test by telling you exactly what to write down in your notes. He's good at keeping the lecture fun and interesting. My only complaint is we didn't use the book AT ALL, so it was a waste buying it.

Mr. Battane is a great professor! He is very knowledgeable and easy to speak to. He does curse sometimes, which was a shock to me coming straight out of high school. Most high school teachers don't do that. He is open minded, friendly, outgoing, and he makes you question things about our society. I would take this class again if I could.

This teacher opened my mind to new ways of critical thinking. Since I am on the Sociology track, I am definitely looking for more courses taught by him, even if I have to change campuses. Contrary to some recent posts, there is no use of foul language except in context of the subject matter. College students should grow up!

Professor Battane is by far one of the greatest professors I have had at SPC. He is extremely funny, his expectations are clear, and if you show up every day and do everything with effort you will work out with a outstanding grade. I wish there were more professors like Professor Battane on the SPC campus because it would make going to class fun.

Great professor. HILARIOUS! It's not a hard class but it's not a "Show up and get an A" class either. 3 cumulative tests and a paper, that's it. The tests aren't hard just study for half an hour before and you will pass. The paper is long but just try and you will get an A or B. Some times he will give extra credit if you get to class on time.

Prof. Battanea very strong class. Sees you know core concepts, tests you on them again and again. To fully benefit do extra reading in the history of the subject/post class. Emphasizes Marxism but sense of humor about it . Best partpractical drills and sayings based on vast experience in the field. Miss/late classno extra cred. Take notes!!

There's nobody quite like Professor Battane. He is full of character, humor, and VERY memorable quotes. So memorable I use them in conversations! While studying is needed to insure a good grade on tests, I didn't need to study much because his lectures are absolutely brilliant. Easy class and well deserving of that chili pepper rating.

Not a lot of homework. Everything that is on the exams is on the review sheets you do in class. The tests are cumulative! Great discussions with students who have opposing view points. Be ready to learn about the JFK conspiracy. Critical thinking is pushed on the students daily. Overall, this class was enjoyable. 10/10 would take again.

Professor Battane is a fantastic teacher/ person. He really cares for his students and engages with them through conversational classes. He comes off a little strong politically but that doesn't impact the way he teaches or the way you learn even if you have stark political differences (Like myself). If you show up and pay attention, you'll pass.

I just stepped out of my Final exam in this class and I almost cried. The familial environment he urges for his classes is something I'll never forget. If I could take this class again I would. Coming from someone with very different political takes than him, if you have an open mind you don't have to worry about being swayed from your ideas.

Only around 4 grades, 3 test and a final essay but the test are based on everything you've learned at that point so not too hard. Showing up early gets you 3 extra points on the test.

He is a nice professor and cares about the students and Sociology. The only thing I do not like about his lectures is he is a very biased professor and promotes communism, which i believe a college/School should stay unbiased. Fun class though and very easy homework assignments.

NO HOMEWORK! 2 big test and a Term paper. He keeps you engaged and interested with the lecture. I believe he wants to push us to become informed citizens. He has a very strong attitude and challenges your emotions, and provokes critical thinking. I would ABSOLUTELY take him again and Recommend him to EVERYONE.

He is a passionate, fun, kind old man whose lectures are fun and easy going. You'll remember the material just from the way he teaches it. It's interesting. He requires very few things basically just show up. I loved his class.

Easily my favorite professor I've ever had, and trust me I've had a lot of gems. His lectures are super engaging, and even though there's no homework and no use of the textbook at all, I still learned a lot! Lots of fun class activities, one big term paper at the end and a few tests. Do yourself a favor and take his class!

Absolutely an amazing professor. He knows the material and give it to you very efficiently. So nice, funny, knowledgeable. If you pick any professor over him you made a huge mistake.

He is great at lectures and gets you involved in class. I wish he taught all my classes, he is down to earth and full of information.

Usually, I just rate and leave but, just want to clear up that I don't think he is biased. He just clearly points out the flaws that our government has then looks into what other forms of government do to solve the said issue. Not biased just educated. Taking this class actually made me double major in sociology.

Professor Battane is amazing!! He is incredibly passionate about Sociology and its implications and will make sure you know every piece of material well. The inclass discussions are ones to look forward to and he always keeps things interesting. He teaches in a way I havent had before and would 10/10 recommend

Best professor I've had. Although it is only graded on 2 exams, a term paper, and a final, he prepares you for everything and it is simple to get an A. I put attendance as mandatory because if you show up, take notes, and study the review, you will pass.

One of the funest classes I've taken during my time getting my associates. Everything for the test is covered in the lectures which are very fun, memorable, and inspirational; I simply studied by reviewing my notes and easily got A's on the tests and had to turn in a term paper at the end. My interest in the material made this class easy for me.

This class is so easy. Yes your grade only depends on 3 test and a term paper but the professor gives you the answers to everything and even does in depth reviews before test days so I felt that made the class a walk in the park. His lectures were also so fun everyone in the class enjoyed joking around. Hands down the best class I have taken.

Mr. Battane's class was very easy while remaining intriguing and stimulating. He made sure that we knew the material before every test by doing in depth reviews. Cares so much about the success of his students and is very flexible. He is also hilarious. I could go on forever about how much I loved his class. Do yourself a favor and just take it.

Awesome professor, as long as you show up and listen to his lectures you'll be fine. There are 3 tests through out the semester and one paper at the end. Easy grader on paper, test are everything he taught in the class.

Keep up with the study guides he provides because that's EXACTLY what he tests on. There are 3 tests and a paper, that's it for the semester. As long as you pay attention in class and write down the things he tells you to you'll pass. His personality can be a little overwhelming and he can come across as somewhat abrasive, but he's very passionate.

'Intro Sociology.' Prof. Battane's is on-point, stimulating. Draws on years of experience in the trenches. Material is difficult but he makes learning easy. He urges you to read other texts but focuses on 100 or so key concepts useful across fields of students--education, social work, business, etc. Pre-test in-depth reviews. Took his other class!

Professor B is so hilarious really great at what he does, and he's a great guy! His lectures were fun, entertaining, energetic and always left me with a great feeling! He always makes such funny jokes that keep everyone paying attention and engaged which is great especially for my adhd. I learned a lot and had fun doing so!
