very intelligent, but just a lecture, not a discussion
What a jerk. Full of himself. Grading was weird. Class was boring. Ech.

He is the best teacher I have ever had.
He is a great and knowledgable teacher. I highly recommend him.
when i was there, he didn't explain his standards at all. no one had any idea of what his or her grade was, until grades were posted. known for being extremely conservative. i developed into a conservative despite him, not because of him.
He laughs at his own political jokes. I can’t wait until this quarter is over...
A very smart and the best teacher I've ever had. highly recommended.
Blantantly a republican (even if he won't say so - sit through his pro-life lecture) but goes over material throughly and if you do the work and study for tests you should be fine. However, if you ask a question (or ask to commment) he has a great "you're the stupidest person ever" look ...
Gary Bullert is probly the worst prof iv ever had. He is full of himself, yells at students for not takeing notes, even though the notes are for your own study use. He has on mulitple occasions mocked the speach patterns and ideas of an obviously mentally challenged student. He thinks he is a god
Spent most of the classtime talking about things irrelevant to the lesson. Pretty bad.
Ummm I simply just don't like him
He needs to learn how to talk to the class and not the wall. He looks down on his students. I really do not like him.
Very, very far to the right. Once made a comment "Why don't you ACLU members go burn down the Martin Luther king Statue, I don't see any of you liberals doing that". But I respect the guy none the less, because hey, he went to Stanford. Pissed/nervous/condecending in class, nice in office. Easy class overall.
What do you say about him? I don't even know. Stay away.
Difficult to reach. I was never once able to reach him during his office hours, by phone or email.
Bullert is tedious and rather dull in context. His class is essentially a text book on tape. He enjoys hearing hisself and doesn't really care about the opinions of the students. If you want a lecture class with a little bit of homework, he's for you.
Good teacher, very conservative. Probably one of the most intelligent and resourceful professors on campus.
Liberals are heartless whiners. He has many good points. Why don't you graduate, raise a family, and WORK before you decide to side with the socialists and liberals!
Made a subject that I barely know very boring.....He seems like he would make a better politician than a teacher. At least in his classroom he has a political adgenda....
this guy does not know how to teach.
Not helpful and full of spin.

He was a nice guy overall, but not an easy instructor to follow, makes things harder than necessary. Also has a tendancy to try and make you look retarded for having your own opinion.
I really enjoyed his class. I felt I learned a lot and he followed a structured plan that was easy to follow for someone that was working 40 hours weeks and attending night school. I was recommend him!
I really enjoyed his class. I felt I learned a lot and he followed a structured plan that was easy to follow for someone that was working 40 hours weeks and attending night school. I would recommend him!
Very conservative teacher that makes it very obvious during lectures what his beliefs are. Some of his materials are very biased toward conservatism and against liberals. Overall, I disagreed with most of his points but respect him for standing up for his beliefs.

If you read the book you'll pass the class.

This guy is possibly the worst prof i have ever had. He has a tendancy to define words with bigger ones, he says "following" about times a day (11 is the record). His tests are impossible and hislectures will make the Brady Bunch wanna kill Themselves. We started with 45 kids in the class and we are now down to around 20. STAY AWAY!!
Does make you feel like a retard when you answer a question and he doesnt agree with you. Hardcore repbulican that is very biased. If you think the Bush administration is the biggest piece of**** like me then you probably wont get along with him.

Extremely politically biased, he's so far to the right it's not even funny. His lectures consist of boring note-taking thatprepares you little for his tests, as well as put you to sleep.
He knows his subject matter but is arrogant, and unwilling to listen to the opinions of students.
I really like this teacher. He was clear and I learned a LOT.
Well.. he definitely knew what he was talking about. He scared the heck out of me, though. Went a bit too in-depth when talking about****ography and censorship. I didn't have much interest in government before, and I still don't. I did learn things however.
This class requires A LOT of note taking so beware. Some of his lecture notes are available online though. If your not interested in a politics, his class can easily become boring. Make sure to stay focused on ALL his lecture note and ALL assignments because he uses both of them in large sections in his tests. Spend lots of time on HW and reading!
Very opinionated and uses his lectures as a way to tell everyone his opinions ( which are very obviously anti-liberal). If you have to do a presentation and say your opinion on an issue, be prepared because if he doesn't agree with you he will argue with you. If he agrees with you, he'll leave you alone.
His class is difficult and he makes you feel retarded when you answer or ask a question. He always says "the following" and its pretty funny and he makes funny facial expressions. his record that i have is 27 times saying "the following" in one class period. His tests are ok, he gives teh short answers to you the weekend before to study
Great professor who keeps you awake by rapid note taking. I have never learned so much from one class so you get your money's worth. He is very willing to answer all of your questions during his office hours and loves it when you show interest in the topics. All of his classes will require plenty of studying and hard work so get ready to learn.

Loved his classes, hard but very clear expectations.
Super awesome teacher! is not hard at all, unless you are incapable of following instructions, I have heard he uses big words, but not true, he uses college level vocab, so it isn't his fault that some students are sub par on the vocab usage. Learned tons of info, great teacher!
Good teacher, he's very into his subject matter and knows his stuff. If you aren't willing to work hard, you will absolutely hate his class, and he will hate you. His tests are kind of ridiculous, they are extremely specific questions for T/F and MC that sometimes you don't even cover in class, but if you're good at writing you'll do fine.
This is the most ridiculous class I have ever taken in my entire life. It is impossible to do good on the tests unless you have a masters degree in political science. My friends father has a masters in political science and agreed that this class is absurd. This class is like a level of 200 or more when it is only supposed to be a level 100 class
Complicated and impossible to do well in. Uber boring
International Relations and American Governement, both really boring. He gives the short answers and essays that will be on the tests ahead of time so you can look up the answers, and if youre not sure they are right you can show him what you got and he will give you the write answers. I got c's and b's on tests and still got a 3.8 overall
This class is ridiculously hard for an entry level class that is required for graduation. First test was 30 T/F, 20 MC, 15 short answer, AND an essay...all to be done within an HOUR! And the difficulty of the tests only went up. This guy is off the scale when it comes to difficulty. Would NOT recommend.
this guy sux dont take him, not hard just hard to pay attention unless ur really into politics
This teacher is by far the best teacher I've taken in the political science field. He is a wealth of information, and if you think he is hard then you must be lazy because if you just give even 80 percent you will do fine. Follow instructions, and show interest and you will walk away with nothing less than a 3.0!
Dr. Bullert is professional, punctual and extremely knowledgeable of his subject matter. He will answer questions you have in class, and he is nice and helpfull when ever he is available, not just office hour. I took philosophy and learned about many intringing people and theories, it really makes you think. Awesome class!
Don't Ever Take A Class From Him!... You Will Fail Miserably And Shoot Yourself In The Face.
The worst teacher I have had! You take notes the whole hour. Avoid his class if posible
He's horrible! and what the hell is "Dirty Harry"?? he always talks about it. he says "the following" a million times, talks to the wall, has horrible handwriting, laughs at his own jokes, and doesn't let you know what grade you have. i studied for 16 hours on the midterm and only got 53% i wouldn't reccomend him unless you don't have a life
The guy is a freaking genius....as incredibly hard as the class is, I am still amazed at all the stuff he knows!
He's a hard teacher, but is extremely knowledgeable in the field of political science. He's sympathizes with certain political views, but teaches from two points of view. If you ask his opinion, HE will give you his opinion. Very brilliant and interesting subject, wouldn't recommend this to someone that isn't interested in politics though.
He keeps you awake by rapid note-taking, but talks to the wall behind the students a lot. Laughs at students when they propose a question or comment, and yells at others for not taking notes or even chatting amongst themselves quietly about a film. Sort of infuriating, and sometimes unclear about due dates for assignments. Talks fast.
One of the greatest teachers to grace the world of teaching. He is incredibly smart...if you have a question, he KNOWS the answer. He really sparked my interest in the field of philosophy, and he appreciates students who actually try, he is also a really nice guy. I consider myself luck to have had such a great teacher!
Seriously I don't reccommend taking him. He's quite rude. Makes you feel small, insecure, & stupid. Blah. Can't wait till I'm out.
worst teacher I have ever had. wha he expexts out of his tests is ridiculous. When he gives lectures it's as if he is yelling, I leave his class every day with a headache.
This is a class that is not really hard, but good note taking skills are a must. If you follow his standards you'll be fine!
Bullert is kind of an ass , but he is worth it to take because the guy is a genius!!
Bullert seems to genuinely care about his students, unlike a lot of college professors. (He personally kept track of the students who missed the midterm & gave them a chance to take it.)The homework isn't hard at all, just slightly tedious. The class really helps you understand politics well enough to vote wisely according to your beliefs.
Tests are hard and everything is graded off what he says, not what the book says. I recommend just taking this class online.
Like it's been said many times before, he grades based on opinion. He also teaches with an extreme bias and doesn't bother to even out the opinions he presents.
I pretty much agree with most of the other comments here. He's tough, slightly vague, likes to lecture to the wall, and says "okay" and "the following" A LOT. The guy is an absolute genius, but also pretty bad in his people skills. Will do my best to avoid him in the future.
Worst class I've ever taken. He expects way too much out of you. I feel like I need to have taken a class just to prep me for this one. The study guides (Homework) are like trick questions and the tests are impossible not to fail. Don't take it if you don't have too!
Dr. Bullert is a hard but fair teacher. Not taking skills are 100% required, as well as some sort of interest in what he is talking about. This class IS NOT for people who are going to just be lazy and expect to be handed a good grade. Read the book, take notes, and listen in class. Doing these three will earn you a great grade!
Bullert's class isn't easy, I'll give you that, but at the same time if you stay up on your reading and homework (most of the test questions come off the homework) and stay awake in class you'll do fine! He grades on a HUGE curve. You may think you got 70% on your test, but really it's more of a 90%.
Great teacher. I took his class over 16 years ago when I was at JC and still think of his class favorably. I went on to get my undergraduate degree in Poly Sci and his class gave me a solid foundation for the undergraduate level. Comes off arrogant, but isn't. Make sure you know your "buisness" when you raise a point, you will be taken to task.
Horrible professor. Doesn't answer any of your questions. Makes you feel stupid. He lost four of my assignments. Not approachable at all. His quizes and tests are ridiculous.
He is the worst teacher I have had in my life. He treats most people like crap, makes you feel like a brainless idiot. To top it all of his study guides will not help you on your tests at all. I would never recommend him to anyone.
Great professor. I learned alot in this class, if you are lazy and don't like a challenge don't take this class. He will give you both sides of the argument. Highly intelligent. If you like politics you will like this class. I came in everyday ready to learn something new.
"DOCTOR" bullert is rude and arrogant! For me that just started the class off on a bad level. Then even though I did not want to give him a chance, but he is the only gov teacher at the time at CBC. He gets his test questions from thin air and worries more about what his students are wearing to class than if they are learning.
Not approachable at all. When answering questions with direct quotes it's still not right. Very smart but not fit to teach. For an entry level class this is ridiculous. Uptight about his views and yes, he pulls his answers out of a place no one knows about. If you take the class you'll see...
Don't pay attention to any of the negative reviews, these people probably didn't take notes in class. Homework consists of 25-50 multiple choice questions each week and 3 or 4 written assignments. He gives you the short answer and essay questions to you a couple days before each test, so just spend time studying! If you do this, you can get a 4.0
Bullert is what a real college professor teaching at a university is like. Strict and expects you to do your own work. He is good at what he does. You will not like him if you are a slacker, fall alseep in class or don't do your own work. Otherwise, you can learn a lot from him.
Bullert is entertaining, to say the least. My learning style was not compatible with his teaching style. He yells at the class instead of taling with them.
This teacher is the worst of all teachers ever! I do my homework and study hard, i pay attention and was in class everyday. Yet he sucks at teaching! Must hate students acts like he hates his job! Is a HUGE JERK to everyone needs to be fired! Talks to the ceiling instead of students. Tries to make students fail! Really is a complete ass!Never take!
The only people who will enjoy one of Bullert's classes are his type of people; close-minded conservatives. His lectures are incredibly dry and he's an ass to everyone. He has no personality and doesn't even try to keep things interesting. Oh, and his class is totally biased. He should be fired.
One of may alltime favorite teachers. He is brilliant, I'm sure most of the negative comments are manufacturing excuses for their own laziness. I hated politics before I took the first class, then I started to like it. I love politics now, if you do your homework, listen and study, you will do good. He is a glimpse of what to expect in a university
Homework consists of 25-50 multiple choice questions each week and 3 or 4 written assignments. He gives you the short answer and essay questions to you a couple days before each test.
I've always been a 4.0 student but this guy broke me of that. This guy just loves to hear himself talk and ramble on about EVERYTHING. His tests are rediculous and unless you already know everything about Government and History, expect to fail. I hope never to have a teacher like this guy, again. He may be a Dr. by title, but he sure can't teach!
I have no idea what this guy is talking about half the time.. he's so loud I'm afraid my ears are going to bleed! You can tell he's interested in what he's teaching though, thats the only positive thing I have to say about him.
If you are lazy do not take this class. Most of these reviews seem like some whiny high school head start program wrote them. His class takes a lot of work but so do a lot of other colleges classes. Put in the effort and the grade is easy to obtain. If you read each chapter and answer the questions your golden. EFFORT is the key word. =)
Mr. Bullert is quite the character. I have heard from multiple people that do not fancy him, but I have to disagree with their feelings. Sure... you must work hard in order to fit into his curriculum. But that is it. One side note is that he isn't the most approachable character... but that's part of his character! I have learned so much!
Not a good professer. Very loud and never speaks to you (looks at the back wall). You must share his oppioins to do well in his class. he also stops the class to yell at people not taking notes and going to the restroom. talk about distracting!!!! This man is a horse's a**.
Professor Bullert has an agenda. A Christian Conservative Anti-Evolutionist agenda. It's sad that he resorts to illogical arguments for his positions which he shamelessly builds his class around. He'll continue pushing for irreducible complexity, the cosmological argument, or that Hitler was an Atheist despite these being false or fallacious.
This Teacher is very smart when it comes to politics but is HORRIBLE at teaching. He rambles on about EVERYTHING and expects students to remember every last detail. This was an over-whelming class and I can say I learned absolutely NOTHING from it. I hope to God that I never take another class from this guy! HORRIBLE!
very conservative teacher, which was a refreshing change at first, now its just annoying. Very condescending, always talking down to students. yells at people who don't take notes. grades on a curve, which is stressing me out. I think I'm above average, but he has yet to show us the mean of the last few tests, so idk. his lectures are interesting.
I hate this professor more than any other professor I've ever had in my 2 years of community college. He called me stupid in front of the entire class, humiliated me for 5 minutes straight, and made multiple **** and religious jabs. I know multiple other students who feel the same.
I take good notes and do well on all of the assignments. The tests are the hardest things so far. He is horrible to listen to though, yelling, talking to walls, oh and saying all gay want to promote sexual relations with your boys. Unless you really like the subject and won't talk back this class is not for you.
I really enjoyed learning from Dr. Buller, he really knew his stuff and taught in a that showed why we should care about all the different theories. Tests are extremely difficult but he tells exactly what is going to be on them with plenty of time to prepare. Go to class, pay attention, and take notes and you can learn a lot and do well!
This professor is utterly terrible. He had a near death experience and said that it changed his view on the world and he had lightened up a bit. I can tell you this, I would have hated to see him before the accident. He knows his stuff but is incapable of teaching anyone. I have 2 weeks left and I have gained nothing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
This class taught by Dr. Bullart is not easy you have to do all the book reading along with any of the hand outs. The tests are composed of 1 essay question that has to be an essay and several short answers. He gives you prior to the exam so you can find the answers and study. The multiple choice are from the chapter tests. His a legit professor!
EXTEMELY! boring. You will get hand cramps in this class so many notes to take. Gives plenty extra credit adn assignments so even though the test are hard if u do the hw and EC u should do fine. also test are graded on a sliding scale. So not to bad.Gives answers for some of the ?'s on the test. Go to class take notes & study. Boring but passable
This teacher is hard yes, but his class is passable. He is an ass, he does put you on the spot for not taking notes or anything of the sort. To most it will seem like he is humiliating the person. I am not a note taker, at all, and he did put me on the spot once even argued with me when I said I don't do notes. I passed his class with a 3.4 gpa
He doesnt really teach you. Its more about attending the class for the grade. He doesnt explain and you have to keep up on the bookwork to pass the tests and quizzes.
If I were to redue my life, I would never take this class. This class made me less of a man. I would suggest to never take this professor. Everything he teaches is out of date and I feel lucky if it's material from the same decade. He uses an overhead projector.
Very boring. Class is difficult. If I could go back, I would never take this class.
Dr. Bullert knows his material & can be condescending. The class is hard, attendance mandatory to pass. Extensive lecturing/note-taking. I record class lectures and re-listen to brush up my notes to study for tests. Tests are HARD, not all test material is even covered. A good grade is possible if you really listen, take good notes and study A LOT.
Dr. Bullert has been one of the best teachers I have ever had. What he taught me three decades ago in a high school comparative religions course is still meaningful today. A great teacher who helped introduce a very interesting field to me. Thank you Dr. Bullert.
Not a very good professor; and no, it's not because I got a bad grade, I did fine in his class. Super condescending and arrogant like you wouldn't believe. Thinks that "political scientists" like himself are better than everyone else. Tests are hard, homework is plentiful. And when he says to take notes on the videos, he means it! Do NOT recommend.
Although well educated, Dr. Bullert's teaching skills are dismal. He is arrogant, intimidating, and non responsive to students. He is incapable of dialoging with students. You get the sense that questions are an irritation. As a result he relies on lectures and dated videos. In Religion he builds a case for his own religious views. Avoid him.
You know, nobody really likes his class, and I could see why, most of them are running start students who are forced to take his class. I'm a running start student myself and I found his class to be rather interesting though. Yes, he's an extremely hard grader, the 4 unit tests are incredibly long and difficult. But it's not impossible to pass. I got a 3.9.
I won't lie, the class was really hard. I spent hours studying for each test. The professor is hard to understand and gives tons of notes (at a rapid pace.) But I did learn a lot, and passed with a 4.0. If you work really hard you will do well in the class.
Everyone who wants to go and say how horrible and arrogant he is, really didn't dig deep to find out the man Dr. Bullert is. He's highly intelligent and makes some of the funniest remarks. He makes you think and that's what a great professor does. I've had him 3 times, this quarter being the third and he's really grown on me. Good man. Thank you!
The class itself is possible. Dr. Bullert, however, tends to make things more complicated than they need to be and he comes off as very arrogant and has an "I'm better than you" attitude. He grades harshly but don't be discouraged if you don't get a good test grade. Just make sure to turn in all the study guides; they're multiple choice.
Dr. Bullert is a highly intelligent individual. His class is not easy because he wants to challenge people to become educated and not look for a free pass ( handout) I highly recommend taking any of his classes. He gives plenty of opportunities to earn a good grade. Just be ready to put your game face on. Slackers beware !
Lectures are monotonous and highly subjective with a conservative catholic overtone. He is incapable of interfacing with students politely. Large portions of the test material are arbitrary, based on his interpretations and opinions, not the text. Thankfully he's retiring soon.
Dr. Bullert is by no means an easy class, and at the same time is not remotely difficult if you are a full-time, dedicated student. His lectures contain religious and political overtones, but nothing that is overwhelming or unbearable. Expect daily grunt work of text skimming and mult choice pools. All Test answers are easily predictable.
You must study lecture notes to earn a good grade in this class. If you go into his office hours, your will earn a better grade. Not the best class, you must work hard. Be prepared to study a lot. and DO NOT say you're a running start student
worst class i have ever taken. His lectures have nothing to do with the test and his handwriting is so horrible that you cant read it. he is very rude and does not like running start studens!!
Honestly after reading some of the review about Dr. Bullert I was very skeptical about his class, but I am glad I stuck through because he is an extremely intelligent person. Yes, he may be a tough shell to crack but he is here to make you learn not hand out 4.0 His class was challenging but if you attend everyday you will do fine and study!
This class was the hardest class I have ever taken. But you do learn a lot and you can get an A if you pay attention take notes and study for the tests. Don''t be afraid to ask or answer questions Dr. Bullert may be tough but he definitely knows what he is talking about I would definitely suggest this class if you want to challenge yourself
Horrible grader. I'd never failed an essay before in my life. I'm a writer. I've never passed his essays. His "study guides" are long. He jolted a girl roughly. He's rude, says "according to the following" a lot, makes no sense, his writing is terrible and he takes teachers pet. Do NOT take this class. Don't do it. For your sanity, don't.
If you like sitting in a room with a lot of students and taking notes the whole time, then this is the class for you. If not beware!!! We had to use numbers on our assignments not our names (makes you feel super important). A lot of the info he uses is old and he uses an old overhead to show you things.
14 chapters. quizzes over 3-4 of them. 4 quizzes 50 multiple choicetrue or false 30 short answer (1-2 sentence) and an essay that's his choice on of four prompts they suck. You get an hour to do them if you have a class during the other hour or have to skip. you NEED to take full notes. His handwriting is and his 50 year old overhead is blurry.
I'm not going to lie. This class has a huge work load, but honestly it's not impossible to do well. Yes, he lectures.... a lot. However, he knows what he's talking about. He presents both sides to a lot of issues and hardly gives his opinion. I recommend taking him if you are wanting to learn, just be prepared to work.
Looking back from the tail end of the quarter, I'd say I should have dropped at the beginning. He grades on a crazy curve, so you'd better know what you're talking about during the tests. He also switches between notes and supplementary graphs and such very often. If you miss lecture, you will fail. You can't coast through this class.
Overall, if you're a hard worker and always show up to class, you'll pass. Bullert tells you exactly what will be on the next test which was helpful, as long as you do flashcards and have a study group you will do fine. Essays he was a hard grader but all the homework was pretty easy. He's a nice guy but hated that he didn't post grades.
I dont understand some of the very negative reviews. Yes, the lectures are boring and long, but they aren't too biased. Yes, tests are long, but they are predictable and you can get a good grade while almost neglecting the essay portion. Only homework is scantrons and he gives out extra credit occasionally. Study and work hardish you will do fine.
He's a good teacher (not great) he does have an attitude and he might intimidate you sometimes but ask him for help!! PLEASE DO!! if you want to pass. His lectures can be long but sometimes interesting. Expect an old projector screen with marker and clear pages. Read the book! it WILL help you for his tests! take good notes! expect a VCR for videos
Very hard teacher.
Alright look, Prof. Bullert is an intense teacher but he's not here to impress you. His lectures are long, but interesting nonetheless. TAKE NOTES. NOTES WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND. Also, make friends w/ your classmates, compare tests/notes! If you can get past him saying "incidentally" more than 5 times and more than 2 pages of notes you'll be fine.
Do not take unless you are required to!! Prof. Bullert was extremely rude and threw temper tantrums (grunting loudly and sighing even louder and getting angry because he could not work the projector) about once a week. He offered no help when i asked questions and acted as if i was trash. Went to his office for help multiple times and he would not
Sr. Bullert drove me nuts. He demands respect but had no respect for his students in return. Become familiar with quizlet, take good notes, and use flashcards. His tests are overwhelming, but it's not hard to memorize the multiple choice, and make sure you write your essay in exactly the format he gives. Do ALL the extra credit!
The tests are long and he is rude to student! Don't recommend him.
He is very condescending and doesn't like running start students. His lectures are confusing and he is lowkey petty. His homwork is easy but he doesn't give enough warning before exams. Exams are pretty big usually about 50 multiple choice, 20 True/False, 20 short answers and an essay.
It would be nice if Bullert used canvas just like the rest of the teachers because there is like, no way of checking your grade. Decent lectures but harsh guy and the material is interesting but be prepared to take an intense amount of notes during lectures. He gives you a study guide so be sure to write it down and make friends w/students in class
He rambles during lectures, makes it difficult to ask questions or get feedback, is condescending, turned a class that should be interesting into a storytime of his own opinions. He grades, not only badly, but never even tells you what your grade is. There's a difference between a challenging class and one that's impossible to pass.
Guys. He's literally a robot. That's why he lectures and shows videos without hardly ever interfacing with the students. That's why he looks at the back wall whenever he talks. Why his hand writing sucks (limited mobility). Why he repeats "okay" and "the following" constantly. They just switch him on before class. I smell a conspiracy.
I have no clue what my grade is and we're halfway through this class. He doesn't put anything on the papers he hands back, and since he doesn't use Canvas, there's literally no way of monitoring your grade unless you talk to him during his office hours -- but, of course, I have classes then. He makes things unnecessarily difficult.
He made us take a bunch of notes but his handwriting was really bad and he went to fast. Then he says the tests are based off the notes and if we took good notes we would pass. That's kind of hard when you spend most of the time trying to decipher what he even wrote. I suggest taking pics of it so you can try and dicipher it later. I barely passed!
Taking Prof. Bullert's Pol&101 class was an really interesting experience . He definitely knows what he is talking about and demands absolute respect. But the class is practically mandatory for graduation, so just stick it out. Be respectful, study your brains out, act like you know what you are talking about and use quizlet like nobody's business.
This was one of the worst classes I have ever taken! He gives 25 true false 25 multiple choice around 20 short answer questions and an impossible essay question on every test. The true false are from his dreadfully long and boring lectures so those questions are a nightmare and as for the essay question the highest I got was 24/50.
Dr. Bullert was an okay teacher. The content was interesting, but he made me hate the class. He severely needs an update to both his material and his methods, and he will tell you straight-up that he doesn't have time for you. He has office hours, but when he's not lecturing, he's completely unfriendly and makes you feel dumb for having questions.
Professor Bullert does not encourage a democratic critical mindset in his classroom, enforces his personal opinion, and does not allow questions on his teaching. He kicked me out several times without reason and attempted to fail me on the course until I went to Dr. Hansen. Do not take this class.
While his delivery is "old school," Dr. B is extremely knowledgeable and expects students to earn their grades - nothing wrong with that. Attend and apply yourself - you will be successful in his classes and you will learn.
I honestly don't know how CBC hasn't found someone who can actually teach a core class like Government. Oh.. because it's CBC. This guy is so ancient. He doesn't use technology, so you can just guess your grade until they're due at the end of the qtr. He doesn't tell you his full grading criteria until after the test. 350 characters is not enough..
He takes attendance into account, but starts class five minutes early when nobody's there. Hands out attendance sheet and gets mad when people have to sign it at the end of class. On tests, essay means just that. Write perfect essay or F. Gives you test questions in advance, but later tells you you're wrong because you didn't use the "key word(s)".
He's racist (he thinks Japanese internment camps aren't racist), hypocritical (claims to show both sides of an argument but only does so when it supports his side) and a liar (repeated false information about said Japanese internment camps), he doesn't use Canvas to keep students updated. He uses outdated sources, etc. Please don't take him.
You could probably go throughout the semester and not use the textbook because quizlit is your friend. Also most answers can be found online. His lectures are so boring and monotone so take the class with a friend if you must. Tests are worth alot of points and are based on lectures, so dont skip.
Bullert lectures every single day. If you have a short attention span beware. You must take good notes in this class, because the tests are worth almost 300 points each. Oh and essay questions on tests? He means an essays, nolt the 3 paragraphs you do on a usual essay question. Five paragraphs or more. This class is passible, but it is HARD.
People don't give Dr. Bullert enough credit. He is an extremely brilliant teacher and prepares you for other rigorous courses. He provides all the materials you need for class as well as supplementary materials like skeletonized outlines to make your life easier. Go to office hours, he is very knowledgeable and helpful!
People expect the professors to hold their hand. Dr. Bullert is a sophisticated scholar that prepares students for college. He literally gives you the questions to the exams and people still expect him to be more helpful? Dr. Bullert tries his best to help the students. Visit his office hours when you have questions and hell help!
Let me start off by saying this was one of the most difficult classes I've taken. But, I studied like crazy for the tests, and I ended up getting an A! He supplies you with questions that will be on the tests, and he gives you outlines for taking notes in class. He knows what he's talking about, and if you put in the work you'll get a great grade!
Just don't do it. You will regret.
Boring lectures daily. 2 Chapter assignments a week. Each test is 300+ points, with essay questions that have to be 4-6 paragraphs long. Hes not a nice guy, but wont tell you anything if you simply take several notes during lectures. Attendance is highly required, as he hands out outlines and homework almost everyday it seems. Real tough class.
He is a tough grader but in chapter tests he gives you questions that will be on the Unit tests. He also hands out a lot of extra credit so you can get your grade up. He talks a lot and fast so you better be taking notes quickly.
tests are difficult, but he gives out some of the questions beforehand, so if you take good notes you should be fine. He lectures every day for the whole period, so be prepared to be bored a lot of the time. He also talks very fast, so get good at taking fast notes. He does give extra credit near the end of the quarter which is nice.
If you have the chance to take his class, don't. He belittles anybody who asks questions, is not helpful outside of class, has no clear grading rubrik, is very one sided and oppinionated, doesn't use canvas, and has not updated his lecture material since 2002 (You won't be able to read most of it anyways). Test prep that's provided is appreciated
Hes heavy on lectures weird grading
His grading system is extremely weird. Parts of the tests are nothing that have to do with his lectures. never wants to join me and my group for dennys for deliberation outside of the classroom.
I took International Politics, and the class covers a lot of material over a short time. The only thing is how he grades is based on very little one assignment per chapter and unit tests and never posts grades online. The extra credit assignments are needed to take up on when he offers, and helps to raise the grade up. He knows a lot about politics
This professor is difficult. His exams cover at least 3 chapters, and consist of 25 true or false questions, 25 multiple choice questions, around 27 short answer questions, and then t an essay question. He doesn't use canvas, or any newer technology. He uses an overhead projector with the see through sheets. I almost fall asleep ever class.
Dr. Bullert is definitely an old school professor. He is cut and dry and honestly can be a bit rude. However, If you work hard and prove yourself to him he will change his attitude a bit. If you do well in the class you will know you earned it and will be proud. I wasn't a fan of his in the beginning but now I respect and appreciate his class.
His class is very straight forward, if you do all his work you will pass.
Bullert class was the hardest he was rude and his lectures were so cut and dry, but later through the quarter he decided to retire.
His stuff is outdated and hard to read. He's also extremely rude and horrible at teaching.
