Way too much work for one class. Very hard to focus on other classes
TOO MUCH WORK
No Comments
Very Rude, Gives little or no instruction
Although this was a hard course, I felt that it was a very beneficial class
he i stoo full of himself to be a teacher..i did NOT enjoy his class at all..
While it is good to be challenged, don't take him if you don't like stress!
rude, selfish.Don't take this class. it is a waste of money and time
No Comments
Ignorant and has a demeaning attitude towards others.
Very Condescending! DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. His is the poster child of someone who is full of themself.
Be prepared to work your tail off. And if your not liked or social you will not receive a good grade for your hard work. He has his "favorites". Hopefully you are one of them.
Class is challenging but the teacher is Rude, yes, with a capital "R." At some point, must have sat down upon a rather long and pointed stick. Or maybe it's a sword. Which he sometimes pulls out to prod at his students.
Very diffrent approach to teaching. Learned the most in this class than any other college course. Hate lectures you will love this class.
Senior class...supposed to be a fun and enjoying class....guy was rude, selfish and just plain nasty to almost everyone in my class. He should be given leave at SVSU. The man does not deserve a teaching position.
Dr. Clark is more than helpful! He is only intimidating to those who take him the wrong way. He wants the best for all his students, and teaches them the real-world approach...not like any other class you will take!
His class is very demanding for doing a lot of useless projects, which is very unprofessional. If you have had exprience in this field, you would feel it. It's wast of money because, in the end, you still don't know the basic concepts about marketing.
This class is very challenging but if you are planning to go into business, it's probably the best class you can take. I got more out of this class that any other class I ever had. He gives you an great opportunity to make something you'll use in the future and helps you with anything you need.
Just a plain jerk. He must have self asteem issues, because he talks down to his students to make himself feel superior. Avoid him if at all possible!

Dr. Clark is very rude to the students. He trys to humiliate them from the first day of class until the end of the semester if you are not his favorite. Very mean- do not take his class!

Very unprofessional and disrespectful
Jerk, I had to file discimination on Clark, and Grievenced my grade, I won the Grievence, heard he changed his sylabus because of me. very degrading if he doesnt like you, told the class not to help me out, got kicked out of my group on week 13, still beat his system with a B

Has very high expectations, but students learn a great amount from the work. Very rewarding class. I followed all requirements and had no problems doing so - earned an A. Anyone can do it!
Dr. Clark is, by far, the hardest professor I have ever had, and I took him as a second degree student. He will expect a lot of you and expect nothing but your best work. However, if you really want to learn marketing, this is the guy to take. You'll work your butt off, but come out knowing much more than any other class. Word of advice = VOLUNTEER
An absolute jerk, I have nothing else to say about him. He has no standard of teaching, one day he wants this, and the next day he wants something else. He creates the daily agenda on a KFC napkin! That's how good he is.
He expects the students to do everything. He will let you do the assignment however you want to. When you let him look it over he makes fun of you in front of the whole class and makes you feel really stupid. Would recommend not to take him if u can.
Who does he think he is talking to people like that! He is rude and very unapproachable. I dont think he has anything better to do than to make students lives a pure living hell.
he was very hard. but you ACTUALLY learn something there
Nice guy. He just means business, you learn more in his class than you would in any other class here at SVSU.

Class was a ton of work, you will learn a lot. He can be a bit intimidating, but its just a front, he is actually a really nice guy.
Dr. Clark is a very very good professor. He can be a bit intimidating, but dont let him bother you, he really is a nice guy. Just do your work and do a good job and you will have a great semester. You will learn a ton and the class is not difficult, but it is time consuming. Dont be slacker. We got pizza about every class. I would take him again.
The class is very easy to get an A in. He is very tough and expects a lot from you but it is all things that will be very important in the future. Dr. Clark gets his students ready for the future. He can be an **** about things but you have to understand that he is doing it because he wants the very best out of you. He is also a great person
He is avery tough teacher that expects alot out of his students, but the main reason why he expects so much from his students is because he wants to see them succeed. Make sure you do the work that is assigned to you and do you best like you would do for a job and everything will be fine......p.s. Get as many CPP points as you can.
If you treat the class like a job, you will do well. The best parts about this course is you make good friends, usually eat pizza, and the 4 hours goes by fast.
Gives you no guidance on assignments and then shreds you in front of everyone when you don't do it exactly as he would have. Gives you a MGT book and then wastes all your time with a huge MKT project. I could've bought a MGT book myself and learned for all the good he did. Only thing I learned was never take him ever again.
Dr. Clark is one of the best. I was also scared of him because of all the bad feedback from some students. However, after taking him I realized that those student are just slackers. Clarks classes are fun! I looked forward to going to his classes and now that I graduated, I can say that his classes made the biggest impact on me.
Dr. Clark is hard, but if you do YOUR job and keep with it, his classes will be the most valueable experience you can have at SVSU. Get on his good side and he will like you, and give you an A. And work your ass off. You'll have a great report to show job interviewers and a good GPA.
Comments reflect atypical student who try to sound professional or intelligent. This teacher is a bully and caused most in his class to drop, dread school, or become very discouraged. Unorganized, condensending and self centered. History of continued disregard for student well being. I too got an "A" and would never retake him as my time is muc
Dr. Clark is simply the best. Yes, he is hard, but trust me, if you work hard it will pay off and his classes will be the most worthwhile ones you ever take!!!! Anyone who says he "bullies" and "scares" students is just lazy and unwilling to pull their share of the work. The more you stand up to him, the more he will respect you. GREAT teacher!
very challenging be prepared to work
dr clark's class is pretty tough. however, his class is one of the best at SVSU and i would recommend him to anyone who wants to better themselves. his class will take most of your time and can be quite stressful.
Worst teacher ever! STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!! I think stutents that actually like this teacher will end up just like him, a jerk.
Do not take any class from Clark...Way too much work!! Group project would have been acceptable for a more advanced MKT class, but for Intro to marketing we should be learning marketing concepts, not putting a stupid binder together. I learned NOTHING.
He's tough. He's serious, but you can get on his "good" side by being dedicated to the class. I was regularly turned off by his attitude and comments toward students; I felt he was disrespectful.
Yes his class it hard! Yes, he doesn't tell you what to do and is vague about instructions on how to do something. Thats because you should think for yourself. He can seem unfair but do you really think that the real world isn't. Some say he's a jerk, they didn't understand what he was trying to do for them an if they didn't thats their fault!
At first he was intimidating, and yes you are required to put in a lot of time and effort, but this class I felt challenged everyone intellectually, which was great. It is not true about failing the class or getting a lower grade if you are not social, you just need to stay with it and do the work that is asked. Overall great teacher.
HARD and a LOT of work!! I think he solicits the project sponsors so he can have money and a reason to drink beer with his students. But, get on his good side and you are Grade A bound... To get on his good side you should be an attractive female and/or work EXTREMELY HARD and BE SMART!! I only took him for 2 classes and avoided him if possible
I cannot believe half the idiots on here. Dr. Clark is the best marketing professor in the world. I learned so much more from him in my 2 marketing classes than I have my whole school careeer. Sorry if you are a slacker and sit on your butt. The whole point is he makes you prepare for the real world. Great teacher and much knowledge, I learned a lo
I honestly enjoyed going to Clark's class. Yeah, it was a lot of work.. Yeah, I was stressed towards the end of the semester.. but I was glad that we weren't just sitting in a classroom taking notes. I actually learned in this class, unlike many of my other classes at SVSU. Clark's a good guy.. just talk to him, get to know him, and tease him back!
Dr. clark is a great teacher i had im for a 6 pm to 10 and the time flew by yes its a ton of work but if you get a good group and have good sense of humor you will love him
Youll HATE or LOVE is teaching method... can be rude but its only because he expects a lot from his students. For all those saying he's an ass, go back to highschool, this is COLLEGE and this is a 300 level class...
Yeah this is college, where you have the right to be an ass. Afterfall, how else could you help someone?
Took all of his classes. I grad. 4 yrs ago& still to this day Dr. Clark was the best professor that I have had @ SVSU. You work hard but it pays off & you learn a lot that you can use in the "real world" & in your career. I heard he was an ass but walked out of that class with a different perspective & a lot of useful knowledge. Thank you Dr. Clark
If you are a weak minded, lazy and stupid individual do not take this class. He does not suffer fools, neither does the real world! If you do not have a need for business sense do not take this class. However if you can absorb information and use some guidance for the real world take this class!!! Best money spent on undergrad.
I agree with the post below. If you think you are going to just skate by, this is not the case. This class will challenge you. He will challenge you. If he gives you attitude, just give it right back. He loves it. Just make sure you know that when he takes the class out to eat he can drink like a manbearpig. GREAT CLASS! The best MKT at SV!
great prof.
What a complete waste of time and money. This is basically an independent study course, with a drill instructor over your shoulder. Nitpicks about the smallest, inane things and really adds nothing to the educational value of the course. Incredibly rude, arrogant, and completely full of himself. If you want to learn material, find another prof
Doesn't like it when people disagree, even with supporting evidence. He routinely belittles students in front of others. Our group had one slacker; Clark actually mocked us by making crying noises in front of the class in response when we complained. Very unprofessional overall; avoid him if you have any choice.
I went into this class with an open mind because i heard he was a horrible teacher, and everyone is right. He is always changing his mind on what he wants and expects students to be 100% organized even though he is not at all. Although i did good in his class, it was the biggest waste of time! He is such a jerk and should not be teaching!!!!!!!!!
He is the best Marketing professor at SVSU.He gives you tools that you can ACTUALLY USE in the REAL WORLD! He depends on the students to be organized and to make their own decisions. He doesn't do it for you. This is a hard class and it might be frustrating at times, but it is well worth it. If you put a lot in it, you'll get alot out.
He is tough, and his class is a GPA dropper, but everyone walks in with a fair chance. He doesn't pre-judge, but he doesn't take crap. You are either a good student, or a lazy student. His assignments may be tough and his directions unclear, but if you ask for clarity, he will give it to you. I guarantee you, you will learn so much in his classes.
I took this class because I heard he was the best marketing professor at SVSU. To say he's demanding is an understatement. He expects your best 150% of the time. I cried after every class from being so frustrated with the work and with him. This is not for the weak, lazy or for those without a thick skin.
First, don't bother buying the book, he doesn't use it. It's all about his client-finance projects. I had him for three classes and the binders sound like a great idea, but you don't learn anything. I even took my binder on a job interview and they didn't look at it. They wondered why wasted so much paper.
in my opinion he's not as bad as people make him out to be. Yes he's hard core and is constantly changing his mind on assignments, but all we did was a client project which was real easy. plus we had pizza every day. just keep up with your cpps and work on project and you'll do fine.
May not use the book. Class is intended as more of hands-on. This class is a real world job like simulation. Dr. Clark is your boss and everything he asks of you you had better get it done. It does help you in the long run too. I am very thankful to have taken this class because I feel like I learned a lot more then if the class were lecture.
Ok, I had him for MGT 321 and MKT 331. It's the same project we had to do (although different client). I'm confused, though, since should the two classes have different material? One's a management class. The other is a marketing class. Both were just these stupid binders.
The only reason anyone complains that his class is difficult is because most other instructors do not prepare students well enough for real expectations. If you have coasted through anything in your life you know exactly what I mean. This bothers Clark and I think it should bother more people.
Dr. Clark is not very clear on what he wants and is always changing his mind. However, you're expected to know everything anyway. The grades aren't calculated very fairly either- you work on completing a binder/book with your group for the whole semester, but your grade isn't based on the book at all. You won't know your grade until the last day.
I must admit I was intimidated on the first day of class. After a few classes I got used to him being hard core and calling us idiots whenever we turned in poor quality work. Yes, he's hard core & a down right "butt" hole, BUT I'm telling you, once you turn in that project, you will feel relieved. Just speak up for yourself & you'll be fine.
This class was a breeze! Was entrepreneurship and if you've had him for any other class, then you know exactly what he wants from you. Another binder! Exact same format! Pizza parties! Class was pretty easy and didn't really have to put much thought into it. Easy A!
I have taken Dr. Clark for 5 classes. I think back to that first day when I thought about dropping his class & how different my academic life would be if I would have dropped. He teaches you a lot if you are willing to listen and work. He expects a lot, but he has seriously changed my academic career & has given me skills for the real world.
This guy likes to think he's teaching us about "the real world." But, seriously, the only thing I learned in this class was how to deal with arrogant, abrasive and condescending people who think they can teach. Still haven't a clue how the project ties into marketing, either.
He is my favorite professor at SVSU. If you have a good work ethic then you won't have a problem acing this class.
Dr. Clark is scary as hell, but you will learn SO much from his class. I almost dropped after the first day, but I'm glad I didn't. If you LISTEN and DO YOUR WORK you will do perfectly fine. If you're lazy, steer clear! He won't let you get away with it. He seems unapproachable at first...but once you get to know him, you'll get more comfortable.
Best Professor at Saginaw Valley. His courses prepare you for the real business world. This guy scares many off at first but has a good heart and actually wants you to succeed if you care to succeed yourself.
The best of the best if he doesn't scare you so much the first week that you drop the course. This class takes up as much time out of class as a part time job but is worth it and prepared you for life after college. if you like to take chances, TAKE GARY CLARK!
Very strict and easy to piss off and usually only is helpful if you are directly talking out of class to his face. Anything said in class is either him complaining about students or giving confusing directions. Never gives clear instructions and expects you to already know even without clear directions or example of what he wants.
I have taken Dr. Clark for 5 classes. If you are passionate about business, I would recommend taking 2 classes per semester. The start can be overwhelming, but you can apply work for one class to the other fairly easily. He likes students in multiple classes- which is a good thing. Think for yourself & come up with new ideas- you wont regret it!
strange personalty, but great professor. I learned the most in that class but a lot of work.
I learned quite a bit in this class. If you are willing to try and work hard, he is willing to help you get extra points to boost up your grade later in the semester. I highly recommend him as a professor.
Really doesn't expose students to marketing terminology or knowledge. He designs all his classes around group work and real work experiences so basically you will learn how to deal with a confusing boss (clark, work in groups, and write long reports. Your group binder and 200 CPP points are the majority of your grade.
Awesome professor, you will lear Sooooooo much but be prepared to work for it.
Gives you real world experience as in gives you no real clear directions and assigns a due date. He is extremely confusingdisorganized most of the time and gets of topic consistently in class and grades on his opinions . All of his classes are the same so once you take one you can master all the rest of his classes easily.
The class is a real world simulation. And Dr. Clark is pretty hard core. He doesn't tolerate slackers and is not afraid to call students out when they are doing something wrong. Although it was the hardest, it was the most rewarding class I have ever taken and I learned so much. But if you want to succeed in his class, get ready to work for it!!
Good old Gary Clark is a real peach. He makes you work for every single point you earn in his class but he does it in a way that makes you feel so rewarded at the end of the semester. SHOW UP. WORK HARD. PARTICIPATE IN YOUR GROUP. GET CPPs EARLY. BE ACCURATE. You'll be fine. He's a blunt and does not tolerate laziness but I love him for it.
Clark is one of the hardest yet best professors at SV. On the 1st day of class, he will try his very best to scare you to get you to drop. You'll be assigned to a consulting team in which you'll work with all semester on a client project. It's a lot of work, but I promise you that you'll learn more from him than any other professor!
Very tough old school teacher. Seems like an ass at first but he's probably just joking around. He won't hesitate to call out a student but in all fairness, he won't be offended if you call him out on someone. Not a class to take if you're looking for an easy grade but a great one to get you ready for the real world
If you miss class you will fail. Attendance is mandatory. He's extremely sexist and rude, swears often, and talks poorly about others. His class is hard, lots of time commitment. The first class is terrifying but once you understand he's just completely rude, offensive, & insensitive then you'll be alright. Tough class, but I learned a lot.
Dr. Clark is not the nicest professor, but definitely worth choosing. You will learn the most in his classes than any other professor. You will be assigned into groups on the first day, and will spend the whole semester working on the main client project. Your grade is determined by the team project, CPP assignments, quizzes, and peer evaluations.
Dr. Clark was extremely intimidating on the first night of class, but he only does that to get the lazy people to drop the class. If you aren't willing to work for it, don't take the class. I learned more in Dr. Clark's course than I have in ANY other course at SVSU. I'd highly recommend taking his class if you're a business or marketing major.
Clark is one of the best professors at SVSU. Get past his initial "intimidation lecture" and you will taking one of the best courses of your college career.
