Mr. D is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is always willing to help, especially out of class. His tests are not impossible and he gives small assignments everyday to make sure you are understanding the lesson. Offers extra credit when asked.
The class itself is kind of difficult, but he is always there for his office hours and is more than willing to help-Sometimes he teaches some areas a little too quickl and its not understood-but he loves it when you come in. and extra credit is offered :)
are you two kidding? He barly gets through the lecture with out the class fixing his mistakes. I would never take another class of his again. the tests suck his problems are unfair, and you can't use a calculator on exams. the homework is really lon

He really means well, but he moves too fast, doesn't really answer questions, and you have a lot of homework. He likes math way too much, and expects everyone to know as much as he does.
He is a very good teacher. Class could be difficult if math isn't your thing, but he is always open for helping and before or after class he is always hanging around to help. Outside of class he is more helpful, because he has to keep the class moving.
He can be confusing at times, but he is always enthusiastic about what he is teaching. He offers help, you just have to make it very clear about what you are asking about. You should be fine if do your homework and do some extra credit (he offers a lot).
One of the only teachers that I've had that actually wants me to succeed. I'm not good at math, but he's helping me get through it.
Mr. D is a great teacher. He really wants his students to do well, and it shows. He collects homework at random and gives pop quizzes, though. Make sure to do your homework, and you'll do well in the class.
If you do the extra things (come in before/after class) to prove to him that you want to pass, he WILL get you through. Do your home work, study a bit for the tests and good things will happen...Trust me! What a cool old guy! Mr.D ROCKS!!
willing to put in extra time, but his tests are really biased...the forms are never equal. he gives a lot of homework and doesnt leave room for you to make mistakes. i wouldn't take his class again.
randomly corrects homework and grades it, doesn't understand you need practice. doesnt teach thoroughly, gets nitpicky. class was boring.
super funny, collects homework sometimes, but lets you retake tests if you failed. is always willing to give extra help, but coming to class is necessary!
GRETAT TEACHER, I got a 96, 97, 72, 97 on my first four tests. He explains well and gives hints as to when we will be having a quiz, i have one today. Also he tries to only collect hw when it was easy or we had alot of time to get help on it.
he's a sweet little old man and he incorporates a lot of life stories into his math class, so it makes it interesting. i enjoy going to class just to hear his stories. he's always got a smile on his face and he is usually pretty lenient with the homework
Explains things really well. Always be prepared for anything, though...he collects homework at random and will call on you out of the blue if you look like you're not listening! Always warns you when you have a quiz coming. Has great sense of humor!
Not to Shabby, class isn't tough, and he is a fair person. Make sure to go to class, he checks...and do homework he will call you out if you look like you are behind!
he talks to you like you are stupid and singles kids out in class. His wife was there for over half the term. A very degrading teaching
Do not take this teacher unless you like kissing butt. He has obvious favorites and watch out if you aren't one of them. He also likes to accuse people of cheating with no reason to do so. Very unfair, take anyone else!
Great professor-so nice and helpful. If you are struggling go in for extra help; it helps a lot. Good number of quizzes and tests. It takes work but if you go to class, study, and do your homework every night you will do well. Explains things very well, good examples. I highly recommend him.
Mr. D. is a great teacher! I'm definitely not a fan of Math but Mr. D. makes it understandable. Go to class, do your homework, study and you'll be alright!
Mr. D is top notch. Hard class, but he makes it a lot easier than it could be. If you have a pulse, then you can pass this class.
lets you retake tests, would spend hours helping you if you needed it, easy to understand. (does NOT have favorites, just likes to call on students who do their homework, his wife was in the exam room because he broke his leg and was in a wheelchair) GREAT TEACHER
Mr. D is awesome! he explains everything so well. he's super sweet and funny. if you arent good at math, take him, he'll help you! he's a great professor, i strongly recommend him to everyone
Mr. D is so nice! He wants everyone to succeed. If you care, you can do well. Allows retakes on all exams except the final. Extra credit available. If you're not big on math, he's a good one to take.
Gotta love Mr. D, he's a great guy and professor. He incorporates a lot of personal stories into his math lectures that keep you awake. Go in for help, he's always more than willing to help and it helps you out a lot too.
Well its Mr. D, if you go in for help early, he will get you through, he knows what he is doing, he likes to help you and likes to chat too, he is an awsome guy with funny stories too. I hate math and i am terrible at Algebra, but he pulled me through the tough stuff and got me to pass. he cares too
Mr. D is by far the best teacher I have had so far. He teaches you what you need to know, but keeps everyone interested at the same time. You can't help but like his sense of humor. He's a sweet man, and a great teacher....these don't come along too often in college---I highly recommend him. Just do the assigned work, and you will do great.
This class is a good one if you do the work. Make-up exams are given, points for homework, extra credit is there. He lays out everything for you. Explains things well and has plenty of stories. Always willing to help the students!!! Great professor!
Awesome professor. Knows what hes doing. Willing to help! Has stories which have NOTHING to do with lessons(they're funny). Collects assignments randomly so...DO YOUR HW! Loves to pick on students...allows make up exams...sometimes notecards...and calculator. Highly recommended....although I didn't do as well as I expected...was worth taking.
He's a good professor. He wants to help his students succeed. He gives make-up tests (max of 79%) and he gives extra credit assignments. He's always willing to help students if they have questions.
Its obvious he used to be a highschool teacher. My advice, go to his office hours. He is there for you almost all day and will stay longer if you ask. Do you homework, study for the tests and you will done fine. If you put in the effort, so will he. Just a really nice teacher.
Good guy. He is obviously there for the students which you don't find anywhere. Spontaneous homework checks kind of stink but otherwise I would reccomend.
Mr. D is a good guy but he doesnt teach math very well. His tests are usually hard and he treats you like you are 11. Dont take him unless you have to.
Mr. D is a great guy. He is always there to help you out in his office hours and encourages you to go to them. The tests were semi-hard but if you do the homework, which you pretty much have to because he collects it randomly, you will do just fine. Mr. D is a farmer on the side so he likes talking about tractors.
Mr. D is a really nice guy. He tells fun stories in class sometimes to break up the math. Always willing to help, will stay in his office with you for as long as you need to. Tests were hard. Homework is collected randomly but is usually worth a good amount of points so that your grade isn't only based off of tests. Make-up tests are offered.
Used to teach high schoolers and treats you like one. Will call on you, even if you're not raising your hand. Tests are hard, very unfair with "notecard" system, and retake tests can only get you a C+. Rude to you if you're not a suck-up. Very much High School style, so only take him if you like being treated like you're a 13 yr old moron.
Mr. D is awesome. Yes, he "teaches like he's teaching high school," but he is so straightforward. If you have any questions, he's always willing to help. Being called on randomly is a bit intimidating @ first, but not so bad as the sem. goes on. Tests are easy....if do the review problems and get help when you need it, you'll do fine.
the notes that he gives you in class are nothing like what the homework or test will be like.
Mr. D wants to see you suceed. He is available in the afternoons to help you out. Allows makeup tests and collects homework randomly and has quizes. This really helps your score if your sucky at test taking. This is the second time I had to take the class and he was much better than the last professor I had.
He was rude and not understanding. Is available after school but not very helpful. Tests are hard, quiz's not so bad. Do all your homework the points will add up and help. If your a suck up this is the class for you. Calls on you randomly but thats not to bad. Over all I felt he didnt know how to teach.
Really good.
Mandatory Attendance, Daily Assignments, etc. The only thing that really bothered me about this class was the teacher. Mr. Dickinson is a very creepy man. He needs to realize that his students are in college. My advice: wait for an opening in a different class.
I've only had him for the first day and I already know the quality of teaching he offers is not good. He admits he has no doctorate, and that he makes class hard to run the numbers down in the classroom. Yelled at me for using my book in class to help me answer a question I did not know, and insists that calculators will not be used on tests.RUDE
Willing to help you if you see him during his office hours. Sometimes tells a story during class on a good day. Wants to see you succeed.
Mr. D is a really good guy, he wants all his students to do well in the class. For a math teacher he's good he covers the material well and will ansewer any questions and he's always in his office to help. I found his in class stories very ammusing. Overall he's a good funny math teacher.
Mr. D isn't the sharpest you'll ever see. He used to teach HS math and still thinks he's teaching to a bunch of kids who don't have anything outside his class. Daily assignments, calls you out all the time in class, gives you problems for homework and when you ask in class he can't even do them and has to ask another professor... Take someone else!
Take Mr. D. He is a really great guy and he wants to see you do well. He is always willing to give his tie outside of class if you have any problems. He never makes you feel like you should understand something if you don't. Plus, he does a great job of explaining things in class. Take him if you aren't too good with math.
he was an okay teacher..the only thing that i didnt like of him was that he called on his students alot..so those who do not like to talk in class--like me--maybe he isnt the teacher to take. you know though, i didnt regret taking his class too..gosh, i have mixed feelings now..
Mr. D is an awesome teacher! He is very clear about what he wants you to know and as long as you do the homework youll do great! Also he is always always available for help and never gets sick of helping. Take him!!
TAKE MR.D! The first couple weeks may be scary and intimidating but you will be fine by the end of the semester as long as you go to his office hours when you don't get something and do your homework regularly. Not doing your homework will cost you however!!! Otherwise he is a funny and knowlegable guy.
Very nice teacher. Really Funny and always willing to help out.
Very good teacher. Funny and likes to joke around, but always willing to help you out
Really nice guy, always willing to help whenever he can. Seems to get lost in his equations sometimes but overall a good professor!
TAKE MR D! Although at points he can be really sarcastic and a hard grader, most of the time, he tries his best to help
This is a hard class, but not impossible, and Mr. D has been very helpful and available outside of class. I am terrible at math, but I actually understand the material thanks to his patience. He gives extra credit, and a second chance to take every test which is really nice, even if you can only get a C+. I recommend this teacher highly.
Loved this teacher!!! He teaches it to you step by step, reminded me of high school. I waited three years of college to take math and i understood it fine... He is ALWAYS available outside of class. Great teacher! take him. he has different grading options, grade is based on either hw and exams....or just exams, you choose & tell him
He loves algebra. [Don't be fooled]- the first few weeks are very consuming and pretty hard..he says its to find out who really wants to be there.. after that its pretty good! Would take him again!
You can go in and see him during his hours, but more likely than not someone else will be there, and he devotes all his time and attention to them and will leave you hanging until they understand. I did pretty well because i knew everything from high school but if i didnt his teachings would have been hard to follow
Take ****inson for 150. Had Young first semester and had to drop the class. He is helpful and you can do extra credit to achieve 100% in the homework category. Doesnt let you use your calculator much but a great teacher!
Amazing teacher. He's so helpful, and is very jolly. as long as you do your homework for your own good, and you'll receive a good grade. I'd take Mr. D again if I could, but unfortunately he doesn't teach stats :( try to get into his class, you won't regret it.
Great professor! He makes you work very hard, and his sense of humor can seem cruel. Hang in there, he grows on you!
He expects you to do your work, homework and all. He's more than willing to help and has a great teaching technique to help you understand. I loved this class and if I ever had a problem, he was always there to help. I highly recommend taking this class!
Mr. D is very condescending to students. His notes are nothing like the homework. He DOESN'T let you use a calculator on most tests and quizzes. On a more positive note he is always in his office if you need help but you feel like you need to go in there atleast twice a week. I would not recommend him.
I HATE math, but Mr. D makes it enjoyable and pretty easy. As long as he knows your name and knows you are trying hard, he will be a fair grader. Utilize his office hours and he will give you extra credit. Tests and quizzes were tough if you didn't do the homework.
i had little algebra experience before his class but he was a very good teacher at helping you understand the material an d concepts. also, he has long office hours to help you, (if you can stand waiting in line). very funny guy. he offers lots of points and even extra credit if you ask!
Mr. D is an awesome teacher! He loves math so he takes the time to make sure you understand the material. He is very helpful if you visit his office hours. He makes math fun and is very entertaining. Amazing teacher, nice guy, TAKE HIM! I wish he taught more classes so I could take him again.
Two words: Take. Him. He is THE best professor I have had a UW-L so far!!
TAKE HIM! Awesome professor. He answers all of your questions and is very helpful. He makes math class fun and I looked forward to going to it everyday. Favorite professor at UWL.
Mr. D was amazing! Hilarious old man that will always make your day, i loved coming to his class. Answers all your questions with ease, clearly loves math. This man is the reason i made it through this class, im usually terrible at math. Lets you make up tests and office hours are very helpful. I loved Mr. D, so many memories =)
Mr. D was an okay. He teaches the class like a high school math class, but doesn't explain things very well, and expects you to know what you're doing without giving lessons. However, he does allow you to do extra credit to get your homework points to 100%. Final cumulative exam is HARD!
His notes were mixed and mashed. I didn't miss a class the entire semester, went in for help, and did extra credit and still ended up with a C. The pop quizzes and daily homework are not hard, but the exams have questions that are COMPLETELY different than the material. Unless you do extra credit everyday, it will be a tough class to ace.Very Rude
DIckinson was a pretty good teacher overall. The course was challenging, but it not get to a point where I thought I had to give up. He always encouraged us and allowed us to make up for past mistakes on our tests, quizes, and homework. He was very encouraging as well and he had a very personable attitude which made him easy to talk to. He atte
He encouraged us & allowed us to make up for past mistakes on tests, quizes, and homework. He was encouraging as well as personable. He attempted to make us laugh while in class.I wish he would assign odd problems instead of all evens because you can't check your work. I was with a tutor every day. One thing I liked was his suspenders :)
Overall, a DECENT teacher. Notes are of poor quality; don't help with homework much. Is somewhat rude, and will sometimes make you feel dumb. Quizzes and tests are hard, almost different from what you are learning. Would not reccomend. Take Olson if possible.
Mr. D was one of my favorite teachers, he's an old funny nerd! Go in for his office hours and he will explain things more clearly. Do your homework and make sure its all right because that's what can kill your grade. You have to study for this class too so it's not super easy.
Mr. D is a funny guy, definitely will make you laugh! His class is a difficult one though, do ALL of your homework! you won't regret it. No calculators on tests. Watch out for the tests though...hard! he is very helpful though & will make sure you get the grade you deserve. I recommend!! Quiz and tests about once a week, so tons of points! :D
Hes a great guy! He makes math actually pretty fun to learn. He makes some funny comments which always makes the class go by quick. He expects a lot of work, but its a math class, so of course you will have hw.
Seems to enjoy stressing students out. HW everyday, quiz or a test at least once a week. Tests are hard & different from notes which was very frustrating. Very hard grader and hardly gives partial credit when deserved. I worked hard in this class and went into office hours but still felt that his grading was unfair. I do not recommend taking him!!
Mr. D is awesome! He makes the class go by so fast. If you do your homework and study a little before the quizzes/tests, its not hard at all. I love the guy and thinks he's hilarious. He has a corky sense of humor but everyone seems to love it. Hes like the grandpa you never had almost. Go to class, do your homework and you'll be fine. (:
He's a great guy! He tries really hard, the class is tough. Write down everything! do the homework.
class is not hard if you show up and do your homework. Mr D is hilarious and makes class enjoyable to go to. i would recommend him for math 150!
Mr. D is a great professor-one of my favorites at UW-L. Super funny, sweet little old man, and is always willing to help you to make sure you really understand the material. As long as you go to class, do your homework, and study, you'll do fine. He is extremely helpful. I loved having him as a professor, take him! :)
Very knowledgeable and knows how to teach in a way that is understood by the students. Very willing to help outside of class. Would recommend him.
Great guy, but not so great of a teacher. He often gives you notes that don't correspond with the quizzes and tests. The quizzes and tests are very HARD. I wouldn't recommend him if you want a professor that teaches you the information that you will be tested on.
I hated how he calls on random people during class. I absolutely despise being put on the spot. What we learn in class is often much easier than what is on the test. My biggest problem with him is when I got 5 out of 6 points taken off my test for my answer of 4/10 when the correct was 2/5. However, he is very willing to help which was nice.
He is one of the worst math teachers I have ever had. He makes you learn on your own and if you don't understand something you have to go see him on your own terms. he gives retakes if you dont miss any class but they are alot harder then the first tests. i would say take a different teacher if you can
Mr. D is awesome! As long as you go to class, you won't fall behind. I did my homework everyday right before class (takes 20 min.) and studied for an hour before each test/quiz and left with an a in the class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
One of the best math professors i have ever had. He is willing to help and wants everyone to succeed.
he helps a ton if you ever have questions or need help with anything. He sometimes makes mistakes during notes, but he was an overall quality teacher.
He helped alot and lets you take makeup quizzes/exams to boost your grade. He wants everyone in his class to pass and tries hard to help the class understand homework assignments and lectures
Super great guy. Is willing to do anything to help his students. Math isn't an easy subject in college, but he does a great job making it very painless. Work hard-you will be rewarded.
Gary is a great guy, and has that "old-person" humor that you just can't help but to love. The material is somewhat challenging, but he explains it decently enough. My only gripe is that he'll assign homework on material that he hasn't yet taught sometimes, which can be frustrating, but he never will grade it before he teaches it.
Great guy. Genuinely cares about each and every student in regards to their success in his class. It's like having your grandpa as a teacher but in a good way. Great sense of humor.
Mr. D is such a nice guy, he really will keep you laughing throughout class. He's such a great person. However, his tests are extremely hard. Sometimes when he teaches it's unclear and different from the homework…. and then the review questions never match up to the test and you're left dumb-founded but he will help you if you come in for it.
Best math teacher I have had. Really gives students every opportunity to get good grades. Tests and everything is easy as long as you do the homework. TAKE MR. D!!!
He was a decent guy but graded homework extremely hard!! Tests were not very similar to the examples he gave in class for notes. I would not recommend him!
Extremely helpful and such a nice guy! Algebra isn't too bad, but just make sure to go to class often and do the homework! He gives great examples!
