Come to class and you will do well in the class
loved this guy he's awesome
Question? Skip him and go straight to his secretary.
Awesome teacher!!!! Nice and sincere guy!!!

He knows his stuff, told interesting stories. My 3 hour class flew by.
He definately knows what he's doing. 3 hour classes don't seem bad at all with him up front.
He is very good looking. He knows his stuff. He is a great teacher and very nice. He cares about his students.
good note giver
HOT!!! this old man is on fire!!! he was really hard to follow sometimes because he thought everyone knew his terms.
can never find him, doesn't give straight answers.
Hottie!!! Great teacher, gives good examples. Can get him off subject very easily.
EASY EASY EASY teacher and very nice. Easy to listen to and tests are easy easy easy. Very funny.
Prof. Ebels is super nice, but after the first test he made each progressive one harder and harder. He did not keep a consistent format, and it was hard to tell what each test would be on.
He is a great teacher, test dont get harder and harder. People just don't study for them. He is a great teacher, only thing you need to do is pay attention and read the book. The test don't get harder. Some people just start to slack
Mr Ebels is a great teacher. He has lots of knowledge about the cj system and is very helpful with student questions. No reason not to get a good grade from him!
Ohhhhhhh man he is SUCH a fun teacher - always with police stories and instances he's been through. REALLY interesting class - if your for the CJ degree do not hesitate on taking him -- hes awesome
Ebels is a really awesome guy, and his class is always entertaining.
One of the best professors I have had! He makes class interesting and has great stories! I highly reccomend him!
he's a fun teacher. I enjoyed listening to all his police stories. He's pretty funny too. Just make sure you're able to learn by simply reading a chapter.
just make you sure like reading... a lot. I'd also reccomend being a good test-taker. We only had five assignments; two tests, two article reviews, and the final exam.
Ebels is a great teacher. Yes you have to read but this is college. Also the test are real easy if you do your homework. No reason NOT to get a good grade in his class!
good teacher
He is an awesome teacher. Really easy and keeps the class interesting.
Good Teacher overall. A lot of reading, but he gives all the notes on blackboard, kinda pointless to sit through class and lectures, it's all the same info. I didn't like that there was only five assignments, kinda makes it a little tough. Knows what he's talking about and kept class interesting with police stories. I'd recommend him as a teacher.
Mr. Ebels was a great teacher. He kept the class interesting with police stories and videos. The assignments weren't bad either.
Very good professor. Gets the whole class laughing.
If you can take this class as a gen ed, take it. Ebels will teach you the basics of criminal justice, and make you a better criminal with his sweet stories. His use of Blackboard makes the class easy and helpful. As a retired Wyoming police officer he is a great teacher for the class.
He is a great teacher. Students can learn a lot from him.
good class, sometimes book material wasn't very reviewed
Great teacher. Well experienced and fun. He will keep your attention with fun stories and great information. His sense of humor is priceless too. Ebel's use of blackboard makes the class great.
easy, easy easy
enjoyable stories, great guy, not so great of a teacher. 0% helpful, real particular about formats, etc., and quite anal-retentive. could definitely be making more of an effort to be more receptive to and available for students who need help. take class w/ someone else if possible.
listen to the notes
Best class this semester. Really enjoy Ebels class !!!
Online class was great! test were helpful and about the chapter, Final was not hard either. Learned a lot!
Great Teacher very knowledgable
Ebels is my favorite teacher at C.C. so far! He made class really fun and learning was easy with him. I loved how helpful he was on helping us study for quizzes and tests. Great guy, definitely recommend taking his class.
Easy class. Nice guy. Actually wants you to do well in the class. Taken at GRCC in the summer. Not a lot of homework, and basically gives you all of the test answers in the practice tests. Even gives extra time if you accidentally miss an assignment. Awesome guy. Interesting too.
Very interesting class and easy if you did the reading and work. He was very precise in expectations and very accessible. Good communicator for an on line class. Highly recommend.
I took this class online. He didn't care if you used the textbook on the tests and you could take the pre-test multiple times. We had two fairly easy papers during the term and no final, so the class wasn't too challenging. I'd definitely recommend taking it.
Awesome teacher, class is fun, and you learn a lot. There is a lot of reading for the tests, but you can take the practice tests as many times as you want. I would definitely reccomend this class!
Hes the BOMB! So funny.
Tests are really easy. Really just a memorization game. Practice tests include questions on every test, including Final (take them multiple times and you will pass every test). This eliminates the usefulness of the textbook. More of a online teacher than classroom teacher. Has great stories to tell in person. Class is an really easy A.
A great professor to learn about real life experiences in Criminal Justice
Best teacher I've had in college so far. Gave really good real life examples that pertained to the topics of the class. Made every class fun and entertaining. This was one class I enjoyed going to because of Mr. Ebels
Very easy class. All of the test questions and answers are given to you weeks prior to the test. Its really just a memorization game. Teacher is great. nothing bad to say
funny guy, kept the class interesting, wasn't hard at all. The test and quizzes were posted on black board to practice, i learned a lot.
Not the professor for someone with a learning disability. He was not much help when I came to him with trouble spelling and reading. It is sad because I liked him at first. :(
Mr Ebels is awesome, a great teacher very informal. Always there to help and answer questions. He is so handsome to me, loved his class
I had him for the online class. AWESOME professor. This was a great class.
By far my favorite criminal justice professor so far. I would highly recommend him for anyone going into the criminal justice field.
If you want a teacher that actually communicates with student outside of class. He is not the one, never responded a single e-mail, or answered questions clearly. As long as you show up to class and know how to use blackboard you should be golden.
He was very easy. He tells you exactly what to study and puts the tests right on blackboard for you to reveiw before the test. If your really good at memorizing and common sence, this class is for you.
test are right on blackboard! failing this class should literally be impossible. He gives you all the info you need to know and as long as you remember that material you are guaranteed an A. He is a retired police officer so he knows a lot of useful info. He would be a great guy to be friends with because he could probably get you out of trouble!
He gives you all the answers to every test. If you do the practice tests, the questions come right from there. Very funny guy. We never used the book in class. You really don't need to buy it, just the cj connect access card.
This guy knows what he is talking about! Great teacher who uses real life experiences. Gives answers to tests you just need to study the practice tests!
Awesome professor! He definitely knows what he is talking about. I learned a lot about the criminal justice world from him. Tests are all based off blackboard pretests, very easy. I recommend him!
Professor Ebels gave clear instructions and kind reminders for assignments and tests. He cares about his students! He really wants you to learn and is very fun to listen to. Put in the effort and you'll get an A in this class.
absolutely loved him. had him all summer long and had a lot of fun. he was a police officer and has all sorts of experience. he tells stories from his past and keeps up with current stories in the news. very much enjoyed his classes. just watch out for his sarcastic personality!! Loved it!!
Great prof. This class is WAY better in seat than online. He covers everything you need to know for the tests in his lectures which he does very well. He's a retired cop. Knows it all. Really funny too. Super easy class and you even learn some useful things.
This is the second course I've had with him. He is an amazing instructor and definitely knows what he is talking about. Most of the class focus on writing a resume and cover letter, preparing a portfolio, and job interviewing. This is a much needed skill. He is always a great resource.
This class is super easy because he gives you the test questions so all you have to do is memorize them. However, if you would actually like to learn about criminal justice I would not suggest this class because he has turned it more into a life lesson class. 95% of the class is him teaching you his life lessons, 5% actually about criminal justice.
I have taken 2 different classes with him, and I am not going for a 3rd! He talks and talks about his life experiences. He gives you all the questions that will be on his tests, all you have to do is memorize them. DO NOT miss the day before and after a test ! If you take his class more than once, prepare to hear the same things over and over.
The majority of our exams are straight from the chapter quizzes he posts on blackboard for us to study. His assignments are relatively easy and fun. Come to class, especially the day after an exam, shows a video and from that video a huge chunk of questions will be asked on the next exam. His reward for students showing up to class.
Gary Ebels was by far the best professor I had at GRCC. You get practice tests before the actual test which are extraordinarily similar so that you'll always get a good grade if you take the practice tests. Also there isn't any homework assignments.
Before you go to the bookstore, do NOT buy the book. I have an A in this class and haven't touched my book. Instead, buy the online access code, you will need this. The tests in this class are multiple choice with a few fill in the blanks on one of them. The multiple choice is all practicable on BB. The fill-in part he covers about 10X in classes.
Love love love this professor. Easy grader. Give chances. Funny. Great stories. Gives "dollar of the day" i earned $2 in one day cause im good like that ;) i definitely recommend. He gives pre test questions online and for your final he gives the exact same questions as the final exam... in a different order. Easy A people
He's an awesome professor. He won't tell you any EC over blackboard so make sure you show up. He even gives you all the answers to the tests so if you study and do the homework you'll pass no problem.
you will learn a lot of info that will help you for the rest of your life. he's clear with what he wants, and it wasn't a hard class as long as you show up to every lecture, and he rewards you by giving you the answers to the extra credit. tests are long, but Q's are taken directly from the quizzes online. you need the book w online code!
One of the most helpful professors I've ever had. Not only does he make class interesting, he will help guide you in the right direction educationally.
Loved this class! Best professor I had yet! Take him if you can!
Gary Ebels, what a guy! He is such an interesting professor. If students fall asleep in class, he will make them stand up, or kick them out if they don't listen to him. Interesting stories to share as he was a police officer for many years. He pushes students to reach for the stars and create higher goals for themselves educationally.
He is an amazing class. I changed my major but I am still glad that I took his class. He was funny and always interesting. I was never bored in his class. The test are really easy. At the end of the semester if he notices that you are close to the next grade up and thinks you deserve it he will give it to you.
Professor Ebels is by far the best teacher I've ever had. He is the funniest guy. He is also very passionate about what he does. He was an MP in the airforce, police officer for Wyoming PD, Paramedic, and was Police Chief of GRCC. The tests are the same exact thing as the online practice tests(they aren't graded but do them!) Excellent Professor.
Pretty easy class. Do the discussion boards and you'll be fine. The test was moderately easy. Very little homework and quizzes compared to my other GRCC online classes.
He's a pretty cool guy. Very interesting to speak to. But he talks a lot and goes on tangents and honestly its annoying when you're trying to pass his class. But he will tell you that everything you need to know for tests and quizzes will be used in every lecture and its TRUE. pay attention, and do ALL OF YOUR ASSIGNED HOMEWORK.
Mr Ebels is a very very easy teacher. Text book is not needed and will never use in class, but you need mindtap, the online tool. He tells you question that will be on the tests and as long as you study, you will be good. I also learned a lot throughout the semester.
Doesn't really reflect on the chapters, talks about life and situations but none of its on the test.
He's just okay. He has a weird set up for his classes and doesn't spend a whole lot of time teaching about criminal justice. He likes to go off on other subjects that don't relate to the class. I didn't really learn anything new from this class about criminal justice. He teaches the very basics in class. He also has a weird grading system.
This professor doesn't teaches anything on the test, but the extra credit. Everything is online based and feels just like an online class. Facts that have nothing to do with his class more for the future I guess. Do not take him if you actually want to get interested in CJ. Thats why I took him class feels like a drag. Enjoys calling out people.
Lectures were very boring and very unorganized. He rarely talked about anything that was relevant to the class, just about random things. He doesn't outline his expectations for assignments very clearly. Did not use the book. He does factor attendance into your grade. Tests were take home tests. Overall a very boring class but an extremely easy A.
If you want a professor who will grade your papers, and not communicate anything else to you about why you didn't get a better grade, he's the one! He will grade your papers as if you have already passed his class, and instead of teaching you and communicating where you are lacking, he will simply do the bare min. Grade you and move on to the next.
Funny guy that does not teach much in class, but will tell you everything that will be on the tests. You get out early almost every day!!! I'd take him again any day!!
He was rude from the beginning and he was rude till the end. He gave me zeros for assignments that I did. The article review makes no sense because I turned the same paper in for a different class and got 100% in the other class and he gave me a 0/100??? dropped my grade 10 points. I email him and ask him to check everything now before I turn it in
Humorous, clear, inspirational professor. If you are looking at a career in Law Enforcement, this professor will be great for you.
Professor Ebels was my favorite teacher this semester. His sarcasm was on point and super funny. His class can be easy but, it is extremely helpful to go to his classes because depending on the day, he will give answers to the extra credit on the test. Take the practice test, those questions are on the test and if you study it enough, you will pass
very easy class very good teacher, just make sure you show up to class.
GREAT PROFESSOR AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO LAW
This professor doesn't teach. If you are good at teaching yourself thing then he's perfect for you. The article review is worth as much as the exam and it doesn't make any sense. Don't study your notes for the tests, but do the practice tests. Your notes don't benefit you at all. Also, he doesn't post any announcements on blackboard.
Professor Ebels is a great professor and understands peoples limitations when it comes to online class. As long as you do the work and participate in discussion questions you will be fine. Also responds to emails quickly
I enjoyed him in my online class. He has a good sense of humor. I wish I wouldve taken an In Person class with him because I really enjoyed his pre recorded lectures. Would take again!
Seems like a decent teacher. For an online class I would have liked some recorded lectures or any kind of interaction really. You watch some YouTube videos, read some of the book, post to your classmates, and write a bunch of papers. That's about the whole class. He is VERY particular on how you submit and name things.
He isn't the worse teacher but he isn't exactly the best. I think my papers I wrote for his class were the most enjoyable thing since he actually has you use the textbook. But, his discussion boards weren't the greatest and how he graded them did not make the most sense to me.
Roughly three times more homework than my other classes. Can grade the entire class down because of not understanding an assignment and you all get a grade lower than just adjusting his methods. Point is for him taking so much of our time with meaningless assignments, homework, and reading, learned very little scholastically about the subject.
Great professor. I will just say make sure you do all of your work and discussion board. He is really big on participation in the course. I would take this course again, simply because the course is informative.
Super super lazy, all his posts on blackboard say "uploaded 8 years ago" I had a problem submitting a paper and emailed him, by the time he responded it was past the deadline and he wouldnt help me or allow me to submit because "its now past the deadline and I dont allow late work" So boring, you dont even learn anything its just reading and typing
Yikes.
Good professor overall. Takes a few days to respond to emails sometimes. It is easy to start falling behind in this course because of the weekly workload with homework and biweekly case studies. Just stay on top of things, be consistent, and you will do well.
Professor Ebels can be hit or miss - his sarcasm is entertaining, but his grading and communication can be frustrating. Use study tools like unstuck ai to stay on top of the material and succeed in this class.
Straight up rude, I didn't exactly understand an assignment and embarrassed me in front of the class claiming I was drunk, also got a call from my sergeants and he claimed that I didn't need to answer it when I clearly did saying that isn't my priority, honestly he is just very rude and doesn't teach his subject well goes on about random things
