Good professor in explaining theories and concepts, he does help you a lot, I wish he went more over problems because the exams were part theory and problem solving. Not the easiest nor the hardest, but you must earn your grade.
Moves very fast. Reads directly off the power point. You must use your book because he skips a lot of concepts during lectures. But overall, good communicator and always willing to help.
Frey is the most helpful professor you'll ever meet at CCNY. His classes aren't cakewalks & you'll have to earn your grade, but at the end of the class you'll actually learn something. As long as you look at slides and do the reading you'll be fine. If you want to major in Finance & be prepared for the real world of finance, I suggest taking him.
Very helpful professor. I enjoyed his class mostly because we discussed real life situations, which were relatable to me. The ongoing discussions in his class were very amusing and interesting. He gives take home quizzes and a midterm and final. He gave no homework and his powerpoints correlated with the textbook. I would recommend him.
Great professor
Professor Frey really opened my eyes to Money and Banking. He used the class to not only teach us course material but related everything we spoke about to current real-life situations to help us get a grasp of what it is we were actually learning. You have to study the material. Professor Frey was easily accessible for help outside of class hours.
Dude is chill as ish. Will curve. Overall funny dude who understands the subject and doesn't get too off topic. I recommend taking him, dudes a G.
DO NOT TAKE THIS SUMMER CLASS WITH FREY! Miss 2 classes you will fail! Won't get above a C unless do 2-3 hours of work between each class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN! This is not a class you want to take in the summer. I am taking it this semester and barely surviving. Save it for the fall! Way too much material. Teacher rushes, tests do not match up with material taught in class. FIND A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR! Gives a 2-3 point curve, CANT GET AN A OR A-
someone just asked me if they should take Frey in the summer? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! you will barely pass this class most probably with a D or C. Took last summer 1 kid out of 30 got A or A-. 5 Bs. 10 Cs. Rest Ds or fail. Has a negative curve! do not take frey. tests have ZERO TO DO WITH WHAT HE TEACHES
I didn't even get that great grades and I got an A in this class. You have to be very dumb to get a bad grade (under an A) in this class or do absolutely no work. Overall, Frey is a pretty cool dude and he is mucho caliente.
Frey is a professional and knows his stuff. I took him over the summer and it was an amazing class. He helps his students and he expects them to work hard for his class. Definitely take him if you can. He is a CFO on a full time basis and teaches part time so he knows what the real world is looking for in students. Take him!
Prof. Frey was a great professor. He went over the content of the course thoroughly and incorporated his own experiences into what we were learning as well. He worked hard to make sure every student knew what they were doing in his class and he wanted us to succeed. He was great and made a tough class very understandable.
Opting for this class was one of the biggest mistake of my life. I am sure that this is the worst class at CCNY. The course is very poorly organized, in fact everything about this course and the instructor is not right. TA's are fine but they can't help you much. Save your GPA and avoid his class at all costs. Take another class or Professor.
His class is very hard and unfairly challenging. Do not take him, you will regret it. I learned it the hard way and I hope that you will not learn it the hard way. So AVOID HIM! Take another class to satisfy your general education requirement. Please!
Professor Frey is very knowledgeable but he goes over the lectures way too fast. He just reads off from the powerpoint slides and he even uploads them on blackboard. Participation matters because it actually counts 10% towards your overall grade so must attend lecture and recitation. He exams are easy if you just study! It all multiple choice!
This class is interesting, however, the professor does not teach, he reads off of the powerpoint that are given to us! The only positive thing about this class would be the TAs. I have Ali and he is very helpful and tries his best to make sure all his students pass. There are 3 exams and online hws for each chapter.
Microeconomic is more like commom sense. If you are rational in your life, you know what to do. You need to read textbooks and do HWs, since the professor only reads the powerpoint. Go to the recitation for that 10% of your grade. This is an relatively easy class. If you wish to come to class and do nothing outside of class, dont take it.
The professor him self did not do a great job teaching Microeconomics. On the other hand, the TA's were outstanding. I had Chris as my TA and he did a great job teaching what he can in a short period of time. Do the homework assigned and read the textbook. It's essential to passing the class
This guy read from a powerpoint. The powerpoint was all information found in the book. He did not have office hours. The TA's were decent but they still didn't know their stuff a 100%. I had to read the entire textbook and ask a friend to tutor me.
I will agree with the negative comments. Gary is basically an adjunct and he is also an executive at a firm. So he does not have a lot to loose even if he has to leave the teaching profession. For that reason he does not care at all regarding the students. He reads off the slides and expects you to somehow understand the microeconomic theories. Bad
This is the hardest class to me and I am econ major :'(. He flies through power points and I don't understand what the hell I learned. I have to rush to learn everything my self after class my self... no office hours. Im truly thinking about changing from econ seriously !!!
This is a very straightforward, easy class. There is little hw. Only 3 m/c exams (or short response if you want) and he drops the lowest. You must attend class because you need a code, but once you're there you could do other work. You have access to the powerpoints and textbook, so you don't need to take notes. Idk how someone could get an A-.
Anyone who says that this is easy A class is outright lying. This is the hardest class I have taken at CCNY until now. It is not that the material is hard but the Professor does not teach well. He simply reads off the slides and expects you to become well versed in microeconomic theories. The biggest con is that you don't know what to study. BAD.
Could not figure out what to exactly study. The material tested is very general. Professor is an adjunct so does not care much. If you need this class then take it thru e permit and save your GPA. My GPA went to trash after this class.
This Professor should be fired. He doesn't care at all you pass or fail. Material is hard, tests are hard and teaching is absolute zero. He is here only to get the dollars. This class is a pile of trash. CCNY admin. take notice of Frey!
3 Tests and thats it. No teaching at all. Expects you to study o your own and then ace the tests own your own. No help. Stay away.
Typically just reads off his PowerPoint slides for 50 minutes straight and offers zero practical connections to what he is teaching. Plus, he is oftentimes goes on a tangent on something completely unrelated. The content is pretty easy to pick up, however, so your best bet is to just read the slides he conveniently posts online and teach yourself.
The semester was going fine till the final. He gave us reviews for final and it was NOTHING like review questions not even 1%. When I saw the final I knew it was the end !!! This is worse final I ever took in CCNY. He's just horrible just don't take him.
His lectures make the text more digestible. I thought his lectures did nothing for me but there was a contrast in the rate (and depth) of which I understood the text when I wasn't present for lectures.
What a useless pog this guy is. Not only are his lectures boring as hell, he reads out of the textbook that he leaves accessible online. Just talk to your TA and do not bother with this clown. Lecture is optional as well as your TA will repeat the same things Frey-lock says but in much more detailed, organized fashion.
Horrible lectures and gives very difficult test.
We used an online system called Aplia for assignments. Attendance is not mandatory for lectures and even though he put aside time to practice for the exams, some of the questions or topics are not on the actual exam. Also, I feel like you have to learn most of these topics on your own or with the help of your TAs during recitation.
Focus on Memorizing the slides he gives and you'll do good. Go to the reviews as well, 5-10 questions will be similar to the one on the review. Review recitation notes! Textbook is not needed but helpful as well. His tests are generally easy if you do these things, Aplia hw is quite hard though but it's worth 20% so u can't skip it!
plz, do his homework in the cengage. and take his class little seriously. very good proffesor
Professor Frey was fantastic, I would highly recommend students take him if they need to take a Micro or Macroeconomics course. He communicates with students who have question and explains the material very well.
you should only take this class if you are an economics major. It is considered a liberal arts course but honestly, it shouldn't be. It is a difficult class. Khan Academy does help a little if you are taking this class but honestly, don't take it unless it is a requirement for your major.
He's a nice guy who does seem to care a lot about his students, he's pretty accessible outside of class and via email and you don't need to buy a textbook because he uploads it. However, you do have to do a lot of reading and practice in your spare time if you want a good grade because all he does is read off a powerpoint.
He doesnt really teach . He reads off of the slides in lecture. I learned more from the TA honestly. The textbook is not mandatory, but i bought it just because i wasnt learning anything from the class persay. Hes average.
He is a great lecturer, nice person, has great skin and hates trump which is a huge bonus. DO YOUR APLIA HMWRK! Attend recitation, use all your sources and also look online for help (Khan Acad. , ACDC ECON). Sit in the front or middle during lecture. Study for tests, there's only 3...
Frey is a great lecturer, considering the class size. he does his best to answer question & explain throughly. The material is not difficult but requires some studying and reading. No need to buy a textbook since the TA provided it lots of homework but also provides lots of practice problems for exams and final. TA was also very helpful.
He just reads word for word from slides, which makes it really hard to learn especially if you can't grasp the concepts.
Only take this class if you have to. It isn't that bad but you have to read a lot and teach yourself because the slides are not enough. Go to class, read the textbook and do the Aplia assignments and you will be fine. Ask questions he will always answer and his curves on exams are very generous
Honestly this professor is fine. Everything is straight forwarding the micro class. You don't really need to go to class cause you can learn everything from the slides. Tests are multiple choice and its pretty easy to cheat in a big lecture hall. I'm glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews here and took the class.
only take this class if necessary. I took this class because I was interested, but the lectures are useless and I had to teach myself through the heavy readings and homework. He seems like a good guy but I wouldn't recommend. He gives only 3 tests, and the rest is just homework (60+ questions & chapter readings each week.)
Funny professor, he is heavy on the slides and lecture. He reads off the slides and posts them online. Attendance is not taken, but you miss a day and youll be lost, unless you know someone with really good notes. Two exams, if you study really hard, its difficult to get a great mark, but he curves. Just ask questions if youre lost
Shows up 30 minutes late to recitations The TopHat online platform / eTextbook is practically a useless resources The text is extremely confusing due to its structural incongruity His lectures are random opinionated shpeels completely irrelevant to the test questions Homework questions dont help with the test questions Rude, smug, unhelpful
Professor Frey uses Top Hat to take attendance and teach the class. Overall, he was a good, down to earth teacher. He responded to emails very quickly. His tests were not that hard at all, and he curved the crap out of easy exams(I am not a genius, i have a 2.5 GPA) I am not sure why his reviews are so bad, but he really is a great professor.
If you're not dumb then this class is pretty easy. Just so you know micro does have math and thats why most people don't like the class. but the professor is good and tests are in lecture halls so its easy to cheat as well if you need
If you don't like accounting this class will make you pass with ease. Literally that simple.
GradeTopHat attendance+hw, 2 exams, 1 final. Lecture is boring as he just reads off the slides so you really have to teach yourself everything. If you cant do that well it will be difficult. But, he curves a lot and is a genuinely nice guy to talk to and is understanding. Hes a good prof but the size of the class is the problem, otherwise its ok
He's a funny professor who also knows what he's talking about. Do the HW and go to class because those are a easy 10 points. He also curves ALOT and he gives review sessions and post practice exams. If you dont pass, then you never put the work. A TON of information available ( including his slides) that helps you pass the class.
This is my second time taking this professor and he is very good. He makes the content very easy to understand. I still don't understand why people don't like him. His classes are the easiest when it comes to economics. I'm taking him again next semester. Hw, midterm, final. EASY
Hes not the BEST but hes not the worst. His lectures are powerpoint based. He reads directly off of the powerpoint so I didn't feel like I learned much, however he curves his tests if its necessary and he can be super helpful. He doesn't assign much homework. Maybe one homework every 5-6 chapters and about 3 tests the entire semester.
This is my 3rd time taking him. He is easy going and straight forward. Homework in online and not hard. Can find all answers online. Lots to learn in this class. If you wanna learn about investing in the stock market then its a great class.
Professor Frey gives amazing lectures. Starts the classes with real life global event discussions and then proceeds to start the lesson. He gave reviews for every test and the homework assigned was fairly easy if you did your part. Totally recommend!
A very knowledgeable guy. Focus on his lectures and his test sample materials and you should be fine.
This class was a lot of work. Recommend if you are an Econ major otherwise you will be studying a lot for an elective class. Lectures dont help since he reads PowerPoint but he does know what he is talking about. This is a self study course.
Handled the COVID-19 pandemic the best out of all of my professors. He genuinely cares about his students!
If anyone is taking Microeconomics 10250, get Gary Frey, he doesn't take attendance, and while the hw is a lot, he always extends the deadline if requested. Very nice guy, although his classes are kind of boring and repetitive since they are just simplified textbook material which you already learn via the hw, but he does explain concepts very well
Gary is a great professor. Homework through Cengage and 2 tests. He is caring and respectful. Take this class.
This guy is knowledgeable and he knows what he does. He is a fair grader especially with homework deadline extensions. Don't be too happy with hem, do them because he's giving time to help you learn
He used mindtap. It give you three tries to get full point. If you don't get full point on first try the point lower. The hw on mindtap are hard. you can really do that well on it. if Hw are hard then exam are too. Don't believe the student comment on this page about him be a good professor . The struggle is real for this class . Avoid at all cost
He used Mindtap. It give you three tries to get full point. If you don't get full point on first try the point lower. The hw on mindtap are hard. When i said hard i mean it very much. You can finish one hw unless you sit down for hours and do the work. He is also really unorganized. You can't find the answer online bc mindtap has their own one.
It is composed of two exam , a final exam and one research paper. He use mindtap for hw and exam and final too. Lot of reading and calculation. The hw is a lot of work that you need to put in time to do it every weekly. Don't take if you don't like to do math. It is not a easy class that you can take easily. Class meet on zoom every Tuesday.
Mindtap hw is hard. Most of it is math calculation. Some are chart on demand and supply where you need to move it. This class is a joke when it comes to saying that it is a hard class. You can't get a decent grade on hw. For people that take him. Just don't ever take him unless you want lot of work. Each chapter of hw are the long one and no help.
Mindtap hw is hard. Most of it is math calculation. Some are chart on demand and supply where you need to move it. This class is a joke when it comes to saying that it is a hard class. After one your grade will drop dramatically if you don't do well. Hw is worth 25%. I don't know why he made it so hard to do. the class is a struggle to take.
Professor Frey is awesome! Easy class as long as you do the work! His lectures are really interesting also! He's fantastic, he really is.
Mindtap Hw is hard. Most of it is math calculation. Some are chart on demand and supply where you need to move it. This class is a joke when it comes to saying that it is a hard class. During exam he make his own question so that you can't cheat. The Hw he would give is three chapter to due per week . Some chapter are easy and also hard one .
He assigns hw on mindtap which isnt the best platform but the answers are in the textbook and the math is minimal. He gives a fair amount of time to complete it and if you email him he will give an extension. Grade consists of hw, midterm, final and a paper but the class did so well on midterm he got rid of the paper.
He assigns hw on mindtap which isn't the best platform but the answers are in the textbook and the math is minimal. There are 24 chapter together. he like to joke around that he like to make the final harder than midterm. The only problem i would say is that he assign more work even when class are over. There is like three chapter every week.
Gary Frey is a very comprehensible professor whose lectures are very engaging. He sometimes would make a formal little joke to get the students participate. Mr. Frey makes it very easy. I highly recommend taking the Accounting class with him especially online.
he uses mindtap for hw and exams, he's very lenient with due dates. he's a pretty chill professor.
MY MAN GARY! THE FREY-SAMA, THE GOAT! HW and exam on MindTap, not the best way to learn but it's alright. The guy is very nice and kind, he extend the assignment a lot. Class time period kinda short. You want a good grade? Do what you gotta do, don't be lazy on homework because it's a lot.
"What do you want to tell Gary Frey right now?" You're the best and most chill Professor I've had this semester. Keep it up! So nice and is totally willing to extend assignments if you ask him. BING BONG! He's a King!
he is literally the most nicest prof ive had so far. the hw is a lot but he always extends it and his lectures were engaging to me. prof gary if u seeing this u the best fr <3
He's a very nice professor. Pretty lenient and he actually cares about all his students. The only thing I dislike is the sheer amount of Mindtap work/assignments.
Gary's great. He reads off of slides all the time, so it gets a bit boring sometimes. Great guy, but, LOADS of assignments via the dreaded Mindtap. He extends things a lot of the time, so its great if you want to do everything at a pace you like. Homework is the most important thing.
Gary is a very good prof in economics he knows his stuff. For this class in specific he reads off his slides and gives many examples and explanations. He uses MinTap in which he will give a lot of assignments to do which are very doable. Especially since he is so caring to his students that he extends time for the assignments if you ask for it.
He is an amazing teacher that is understandable. If you have any questions or concerns he is happy to help.
Professor is very helping and caring. MindTap was time consuming and he extended homework many times as we requested to extend it.
Overall, he's a great professor. Takes his time to explain concepts and when you ask for extensions on assignments, he gives it. The only bad thing about this class is Mindtap. The assignments are a lot and the homework? Get prepared to spend at least four hours on a chapter but overall the class was good for me.
Had him for microeconomics. Best professor ever!! The homework on mind tap was a lot, but as long as you do most of it, you'll be fine. I only completed like 65-70% of the mind tap assignments. So caring and thoughtful, he always extends deadlines. The midterm and finals are mostly based on the mind tap assignments. Take his class!!
You don't need to attend lectures in person. There is option to attend and option to go online. Attendance is not mandatory. Just make sure you join a discord server with classmates. Usually there are A LOT of students (mine had like 300+) so if you do go in person be quick to grab a seat the first few weeks. The hw is easy, email him for extension
Professor Frey is one of the best teachers I've had by far. He uses the textbook to teach, and there are a lot of example problems, so it is good practice for the assessments. There were only 2 assessments in the semester, the midterm and final. There was a lot of homework, but if you asked for an extension, he always gave one. Take him!
Excellent Professor. Not only did he make class very interesting and intriguing, but he was also very understanding if you needed an extension. I would highly recommend taking him.
Professor Frey uses the online textbook and gives out a lot of homework but if you ask for extensions, he gives it to you. Attending the lectures isn't mandatory but recitation is. Only big projects was a critical thinking assignment, the midterm and the final exam.
Lectures and homework are based off the textbook. Lecture attendance is not mandatory, but his lectures are humorous. Recitation attendance depends on the TA. I did not go to any of his classes or recitations besides at the beginning and the end of the semester. Did all the homework, and got good grades on the online midterm and final. Got an A.
Lectures are literally pointless. Everything needed is provided by webassign.
Amazing Professor, clear criteria Grading, and he's humorous, the presentations are well made! and the understanding and speaking clear every moment and asking for opinions makes him a awesome professor 10/10 would take him again!
As an experienced professor in the field of economics, Professor Frey has an impressive knowledge base and is able to effectively communicate complex economic concepts to his students. His lectures are engaging, and he provides real-world examples that make the material come alive.
Professor Frey was very understanding, and respectable when it came to his students asking for extensions. He would even curve the exams we took, if he saw that majority of the class didn't do so well. His class is mostly on Cengage, and there is weekly assignments on there. Cengage is annoying, but Professor Frey makes it fair to pass his class.
this professor made me wanna drop his class over 100 times. I'm a freshmen i came in thought why notntake this as my elective thought it would be fun turned out to be harder then all my other classes 4 of my friens dropped it
Frey-sannn! You are a lovely, amazing professor. Seriously. This man goes out of his way to make sure his students are able to do & finish their work on time. Want an extension? He'll give it to you. Extra help? You got it! A lot of work on Mindtap, though. He's very chill. I love him.
Frey is a pretty good teacher. Presents lessons clearly & in a easy to understand manner. Pushes deadlines back frequently for students.
He a very good professor and understanding when we would email him about extensions or if the exams on mindtap wouldn't work.
A very great teacher to learn about economics, very respectful and a lots to learn from him. I would definitely take another course with this professor again!
A very great Professor absolutely was a great pleasure to have taken a course with him.
Did not like his politics. Very mainstream liberal and not in a good way. As for the class, it was a bit boring, but the hw was not difficult. The tests and final were a bit harder, but they were online. Going to recitation was helpful.
I didn't like the class. The professor had very traditional and unoriginal ideas. The textbook assignments were complicated, and the exams were quite difficult. Additionally, the support staff didn't contribute much; it felt like they were getting paid for nothing since they rarely explained things well and frequently canceled classes.
Frey is an incredible professor definitely enjoy having lecture with him...
listen im only taking this class because i have to but this class is honestly a joke if you dont know much about economics. Everything is online and that makes it worse because he's not actaully going over anything in class besides the slides given to him by mindtap (our online platform) that he rushes through btw. a lot of hw, and only 3 exams.
hes a good professor, but his way of teaching is just not it. he teaches through slides, and made us buy the online book for 100 bucks, this is also where we do our homework, which might i add, grades unfairly. we only get 3 attempts, and if you get one wrong your already screwed. basically, you have to teach yourself the course.
Professor seems like a chill, great guy, but his teaching isn't effective. Many lectures are just him reading slides, the homework website is unbearable, and the class was full with many students dropping. You'll mostly have to teach yourself, which is tough given how complex the subject is
I would say just stay on top of your work and you should be ay okay because honestly it is a lot of work and it is not for the weak but he is a good teacher. You also gotta spend like 100 dollars to do the homework itself and the reading is super long. Although he does just does reads off the slides like 70% of the time, he also explains things ok.
Professor Frey is an amazing and understanding professor, definitely one of the coolest ones in the business department. Super lenient with homework due dates, extends everything and anything as long as you ask nicely with a please. There's lowkey a lot of homework, but that's not even him really, more so just how the course was (via mind tap)
He's a chill guy just keep doing your work. He will give you the whole semester to finish your assignments.
He is a very kind and understanding professor. He always extends the deadline on assignments and homework ensuring that you have enough time to complete it. He also goes out of his way to offer makeup exams for those who couldn't make it. I have never had a professor offer makeup for a final exam.
Professor Gary is very chill. Although the work is challenging, he's very lenient and gives ample time to get assignments done. This class should be an easy pass.
although i appreciate his leniency, his style of teaching isn't fit for all students. he teaches through slide shows and doesn't do any practice problems with us. i've seen other professors teach better. you gotta teach yourself this course.
i wish i could slime him out but i cant, if you want eye bags that are big enough to carry your groceries then take this. i cannot emphasize how much hair ive pulled out from stress from this course. im now bald.every test day i wish the campus bus took me out. someone messed up the feng shui of the final exam by throwing up and gary did nothing
Overall, Gray is a really chill and is by far one of the most understanding professor that I have known. He gives a lot of extension on homework, as well as curves on your exam so you shouldn't be worrying too much about it. The class itself can be a little bit challenging but it's still doable, and it's still an easy pass.
