This is the coolest guy ever! Take this class!

I took the online class from this old guy and cheated like any thing. At the end I got B+. he does not mention wheter we can open book while taking online exam at home.

Great guy. Take this class credit/no credit, print out the practice exams, memorize them with your life, and go in and take the exam. It's that simple. He won't fail anyone. Curves the exams so that no one will have below 60%.

can't get any better than online classes. i think i've seen the guy twice this whole semester. exam questions are straight from the practice tests included on the cd.

Is an easy pass or B as an online course. I just memorized the test questions that are exactly the same on the exams and only studied the nights before the 4 exams, class is cake, didn't cause any stress, is actually a nice guy if you speak with him.

Great teacher... very clear and he knows his crap... He is a very fair guy and tells it like it is!

Easy Class...take the online course. Study the practice exams with your life for the tests. The tests are on Saturdays but you only think about the class 4 times in a semester. No book either instead you just buy the cdrom from Girty for 3 bucks.

Awesome, first teacher I ever had as a college student...I walked in and he told us to return our book, buy his $3 CD and that we never had to show up on Fridays because he wouldn't be there. His lectures are very clear, practice exams on CD are just like tests.

This class is easy if you can memorize things however fairly difficult test becuase they are all fill in the blank. Usually a curve unless the class does well on the tests. Would reccomend though if you do not like to put that much effort in you can still probably get a B. Doesnt give out +/-.

This guy is crazy and full of energy at 9 in the morning If you memorize the practise tests and know them well you can get an B in the class easy But you are used to getting A's in school take this class for credit no credit so the B wont pull your GPA down If you want and A go to class & study test

He is the most awesome and understanding teahcer in the world. Took him ofr online course. IT wsa great. Study alot before tests form practice exams and you're good!

He is the most patient, and kind teacher I have ever had. I HIGHLY reccomend this teacher to anyone who loves geology/geography, who is a slow learner, or who just wants to enjoy a class and earn a good grade. The practice tests are a BIG hint to the exams.

I took the webclass and it was so0o easy! just study the practice exams..memorize them exactly--no need to look at the material. he doesnt let anyone get below a C- on a test so they're always curved. make sure to look at the diagrams in the lectures tho..sometimes one can sneak in there--good luck:)

took online. if u take it. take it for credit no credit. He wasnts everyone to do well. But if u r a procrastinator, definitely go CR/NC. Memorize practice exams. He replaces different words. 4 exams, all fill in the blank. F if u don't study

Take the internet class. Know the practice exams backwards and forwards. Go see him if you need help because he's one of the nicest, most helpful profs at SDSU!! Totally COOL!!

the online course is easy, but study the practice exams; the exams are almost identical. i got a c because i had to work on one exam day; if you show up, youre basically guaranteed a b.

This guy is really easy. Always cuts class short and tells you EXACTLY what will be on the exams. Lectures are totally optional. No homework, 4 exams. If you memorize the practice exams and go to the lecture before the test you will know EVERYTHING! Easiest A at this school!

Really cool guy. Material is a little difficult but he gives you practices exams online which have the questions nad answers similar to the exams. Take online class and you never have to go to a class, just read material online at your own schedule. Overall a really laid back guy who helps you out.

The teacher is super laid back and a really nice guy. Lectures are optional, but on some of the more difficult chapters it helps a lot to go to class. Tests were fairly easy, but there is a small amt of math and chemistry (semi hard). Overall, pretty easy and a relaxed class. Can copy notes from CDROM he made, dont necessarily need to go to class.

easiest class ever. no homework. lecture optional. the book is a CD that cost 13 dollars. The test questions are the ones on the practice tests on the CD. If you go to the class before the test he asks you questions straight from the exam. Easy extra credit on the exam like what is his first name.

I took the online class, in which you do nothing for the class whatsoever...just make flash cards of his practice exam questions and study them and you are guaranteed an A in the class.

can describe how easy the class is...if you can memorize. take the online class and memorize the test questions backwards and forwards. there is a study session before each test when he gives extra topics you need to know...know them and you will most def get an A....not mention there is always extra credit or a curve on the test. TAKE IT

Great teacher who wants you to pass class - took it online bought cd studied practice exams for a couple hours night before test got a B - very simple if u read the practice tests multiple times

I personally find geology boring but he did have some good stories to tell. His love for the subject made it interesting when he was lecturing.

Gary is the man. His love for the subject helps to keep you interested during the lectures. He is really nice has a great attitude. I like geology so I didn't go to class and read on my own and got an A-. The tests are all memorization.

One of the easiest classes and yet some people couldnt get an A/B?!? He tells u the first day, exam qs based off practice exams, so make sure you know them. Just don't memorize only the answer as i assume lots of ppl did, its fill in the blanke at diff spots. Easy EC pts too cuz he wants u to get an A. Not hard to get over 100 on all exams.

Very Easy. textbook is a $13 CD. Test questions come from the CD's practice exams. Go to the review before the test and he asks you questions off the exam. Extra Credit on every exam. Super Easy A.

If you don't get an A in this class... you don't deserve to be in college. All you have to do is study the practice exams at the end of each chapter. Those are the tesst! He curves the test scores too: my lowest score on the tests was a %98.5. Take this class. EASY A.

This class is the EASIEST class I have taken at State. If you want an EASY GE class take Geology 100 with Girty. Class is REALLY interesting and very easy. You dont really have to go to class, but I went everytime. Has a review session before every test where he tells you what you need to know. EASY CLASS!!!

Such a simple Class. Don't have to show to class except for review sessions were he basically reads out the answers to the exam. Just Memorize the practice exams and your basically gauranteed an a. He's pretty chill. Best Class ever!!

I took the online class and read/took notes on my own about 2 weeks before each exam....cake walk!!!!! He gives practice exams which are basically replicas of the real tests. Easy class and can be interesting.

Girty is the man! his online class was so easy, all you have are a couple cram sessions where you need to study for tests. Theres no textbook and you never have to go to class, the tests are on saturday mornings though, that is the only downfall to his class, the only one!

He gives you the information...it is up to you to study for the tests. If you study you will pass

Teacher is a little wierd but is still a nice guy. Tests are not too bad but you need to study the reviews a lot or you wont get a good grade. People say its an easy class but I think that it's not. I had to work really hard for my B+. It was much harder than I thought it would be.

I think some people missed the part where he said to study the practice exams. I dont get how people failed the tests when the actual tests are pretty much similar to the practice ones. If you study those you should be fine. Wasnt the most exciting class in the world but it was interesting at times.

This professor was easy to understand his lectures. Attendance is not mandatory. There is no book, just buy the lecture CD for $15. I don't recommend you buy it because he has a free internet site with all the lecture notes, same as CD. I recommend you study the STUDY EXAMS and he gives re-take exams. I studied hard core and his FINAL is very hard!

dont have to go to class ever. just study the online practice tests before the exam and you will do fine. no need to buy the cd he tells you to because its online for free. the final is kind of hard but if you do well on the first three tests then the final doesnt even matter. easy A

I love Girty! He's the sweetest, nicest teacher in the whole world! Take his class over summer because there are only 4 tests and its easy! He gives lots of extra credit but there is lots of memorizing to do! He wants to make sure everyone does well and get a good grade Girty rocks!

Jeezzz! This professor honestly ROCKED, without his help I wouldn't never had graduated. He is not only great professor and very intelligent, but he is the greatest human being. Check the rest of his ratings, they're objective and reliable.

He is the nicest guy, class is not manditory.. and STUDY THE PRACTICE EXAMS or you won't pass... The lectures are online too which is helpful. I hate science and i passed which really says something.

Take him! His class is really easy and is generous with extra credit points so take advantage of it! Study the practice exams and you should be fine. Did I mention you don't have to go to class? But it helps to go once in a while. He covers some extra credit answers in class.

I really liked him. We didnt have to buy a book only a 15$ cd that i didnt even use. I got a 104% in the class. 4 tests 10 extra credit points on each. I guess I did well in this class because I'm a geology engineering major... but hes great to take

RIDICULOUSLY EASY CLASS! you get every answer online to study at your own pace. I screwed up and was very lazy n pulled all nighters before each test n got a B in the class. dont recommend watching the lecture because his voice is tiring, just rewrite practice tests as notes n you have yourself an easy class.

you never have to go to class!! Because his tests are his are the exact same as his practice exams just take the practice exams and put each question on notecards and memorize the QUESTION & ANSWER because sometimes he changes where the blanks are in the questions!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Really boring but all test questions come straight from the study guide so if you study them you can get an A all 4 tests (one is dropped). and you dont have to bother going to class, just study the study guides and get an A or B

I got an A+++. I got 108/100 average on all of his tests..... Well... I am a geology major. Hes a little old. I want to become a professor one day and hes not really want I call an exciting guy. But hes not bad at all. Take him.

I took the online class. No textbook necessary, tests Saturday mornings. I did nothing for this class until the night before and passed. if you are good at memorizing definitely take this class with a letter grade, if not, do it pass/fail. he gives extra credit on the exams, and was really friendly the few times i saw him.

Material is dry but he tried his best to share only the important info.No need to buy the CD unless you want to print the examples, his book is online. It was helpful to take geo101 along with it but not necessary.Study from the study guides.4tests with extra credit.

Dr. Girty's online class is the most well-organized online class I've ever taken. The content is very detailed, but necessarily so. If you make use of the helpful on-line materials (text, video introductions, practice texts, test review videos) with the appropriate amount of studying and effort, students can excel in the class. Interesting, too!

Online study material very well organized. Pay attention to the videos and MEMORIZE the practice quizzes: the questions in the three exams were very similar - if not equal. Three essays: use your immagination, do not waste your time "googleing" the topics, they are easy.

hes the HEAD OF THE GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT. He obviously knows his stuff. Class was EZ. Gives 10% extra credit on each of the 4 tests. i studied the night before each and got 103/100, 105/100, 101/100, 108/100.

He's not easy. Don't believe what other people say. His online class has a lot of material, but you need to read, study and memorize a lot. His exams are not easy. Unless you are a geology major/fanatic, you will find this course hard. He's a nice guy, but he's not an easy lecturer. Don't take it online or you will fail. LOTS TO REMEMBER.

i studied the night before everytime(online class)..and i somehow managed to get a b in the class... never did good on the tests...but he gives a lot of extra credit.. tests are on saturdays..A LOT of reading needed for this test but if you do the practice exams, you will pass this class

Took his online class with tests taken in person on Saturdays (4 tests). Everything is on his website (readings, videos, practice tests, etc). Doesn't take much to read his stuff, watch the videos and do practice exams. Easy A. I would recommend watching the video in the morning before you take the exam...worked for me!

At first, Dr. Girty is intimidating, but once you take an interest in the subject, he's helpful and easy going. He needs to know you're serious about learning. The material is tough, and extremely challenging. 1/2 field, 1/2 lecture. It was one of the most rewarding classes I've ever taken. Not a class to 'just get the grade' in.

This is a great class. You get what you put into it. Since the exams are VERY similar to the practice quizzes, make sure you study those. The class is NOT that hard. Yes you have to memorize a bunch of wacky terms and rules they have, but its no different from any other class. 5 stars from me.

He's a sexy dumbledore character :] LOVES, LOVES, LOVES his subject. Explains more in class but attendance isn't madatory, just watch the online videos. memorize teh study guide's, word-for-word and do the extra credit, you'll get an A forsure.

Great class, everyone should take him, he is a genuine human being who honestly cares about what the students have to say. His class is extremely straight forward, study the study guide which is very similar to the tests, and watch the videos. Take the lab along with it as well.

Take this class. Great teacher who loves his job. Offers tons of extra credit. Memorize the sample tests and watch the video reviews and you can't go wrong.

Girty is the most brilliant professor I have ever had. He has ALL of the text, study guides, and practice exams for FREE on his website. Just go over and over the online materials before the exams and you can get 100%+ in the class. Great class, highly recommended!

Girty is straight to the point. Goes over detailed lecture slides with a lot of information. Has a good sense of humor. I would take him if you are trying to avoid the annoyance of crashing other classes and getting physical sciences ge out of the way. Lots of memorization. Class is accumulated out of 4 exams. Got an A- by studying his sample tests

Great online class...only had to go onto campus 4 times a semester to take tests. All lectures and reading material are online. If you study and memorize the Practice tests and watch his Exam lectures you will know what he will test on. He grades on 4 tests along with 4 essays that you type and bring with you to the test. Not easy...but doable.

Still love this guy, but be forewarned- Natural Disasters (geol303) is A LOT more difficult than his 101 class! I recommend printing out the practice tests and making notecards for each question at least a week before the exam because there is a ton of information that you need to memorize to get at least a B!

Girty is the Top of the line professor. I have had 2 classes with him Geology 101 and Structural Geology. For you imbeciles who fail a natrual disasters class- your pretty sad. You really shouldnt even be or have been accepted into a 4 year university. Maybe you should go back to community college. GIRTY IS THE BEST

I took this class online during the summer. I didn't take it seriously because I am a math major and have no interest in Natural Disasters. However, this class is easy because 90% of his exam questions comes from the practice exams he posts. It just can't get any easier than that. 4 exams, 4 double spaced, one-page essays.

Not bad for an online class at all. Started studying 2 days before each test and got an A. He gives you practice tests which are really close to the actual test. However you do need to REALLY study and just put a ton of info about rocks into the essays. But ultimately I thought about this for 8 days out of the entire semester and got an A.

Online is cake!materials online.If you studdy the week of the test you'll be ok. Study the Lectures he has for each chapters and MEMORIZE the practice exams, exactly like test,only 4 tests. Make sure to do the extra credit before the test and MEMORIZE it so you can get an easy 10pts right off the bat. I did that for every test, got 99% on the final

SO EASY!!!! Read the 8-10 page "book", watch 15-30 min lecture and do practice quiz a few days before the exam and you will ACE it! Make flash cards and memorize the practice exams. Ended up with an A... so easy its crazy!

This class is CAKE! I took his 100 course too & its the exact same but you just write a 1page essay that you bring on test day and its 5 points. The KEY to getting a good grade in this class is MEMORIZE the practice exams/watch the online lectures/video exam reviews. This class is not only easy but you learn a lot of interesting things!all online!

I took his online class and as long as I stayed on his suggested schedule for watching the lectures and took notes, I was fine. A bit dry but I didn't really need to read the book since the lectures had a lot of information. The practice exams are very similar to the tests so be sure to go through them!
