Mr. Glaze has been one of the coolest guys at SFCC. He is very good at teaching algebra and making it clear and understandable. He's a pretty cool guy too. EXCEPT........he's a Montana Grizzlies fan :( Go Huskies!
Gary Glaze is fantastic! I wish he taught all the algebra courses. He is fun, funny, does a great job of explaining concepts and making them way more clear than the textbooks do. He obviously enjoys teaching and relates well to all the students. He also expects you to follow directions and work hard. I highly recommend him!!
Very funny interesting instructor, uses real world examples to teach odds/probability. Also convinced me to go to my own graduation the day of...
Great Teacher... cares about his students.
I was taking some classes from the Math Lab when Glaze was in charge of it. He is a totally cool guy and I can see how he would be a great teacher in class. He helped me whenever i had a question. He would try to negotiate with you have you didn't do so
Proofs, proofs, proofs. He loves math and loves teaching. Perfect if you want to be a math major. However, inefficient. He spends to much time on proofs rather than getting a concept and moving on to the next one. It can hinder you when you need it for future classes. Very good prof though
Great teacher! Very helpful and approachable in and outside of class. I hate math, and this was my third try taking Precalc, and I finally started getting it because he took it at such a moderate pace compared to...Hallam and Harras (jeez!) I highly recommend him if you like understanding, funny, intelligent math teachers!
Very good teacher Helpful, funny, great personality. Helps you to understand by having you do problems with him and he walks around, checks and helps if you are on the wrong track.
The best Math teacher I have ever had. I completely understood what he was asking on every test. He doesn't believe in surprising, so everything you see is what he has covered. He explaines everything clearly, and I have never got such a good grade in Math my whole life. I recommend taking Glaze if you want to be well prepared for 99.
Hardest class ever!! I will be very happy with a 2.0 in this class and that will be the lowest grade i have ever had. The most homework I have ever had and he wont tell you whats going to be on the test.
One of the best math teachers out there: very nice, helpful, and is crystal clear on the information. Explains everything in terms that you can really understand. Tests are easy, not a lot of homework. I wish I could take him all the way through calculus.
Glaze is the best professor! I would recommend anybody that feels they need a teacher with patience and one who gives step-by-step instructions in order to pass math, take him! Lots of homework, but to your advantage. Very eager to help you and wants to see you do well. Attendance is critical. Has an awesome personality! Nothing but good things!

Teacher is the all around friendly professor who helps when he can, but his grading schema pretty much requires daily attendance as his randomness and his heavily unbalanced grading structure(He allocates the same amount of points to a spur-of-the-moment 1 easy problem to a two-week set of assignments.). As such, his grades are hardly fair.
Very hard teacher
I loved Glaze!!!! he's awesome!
He is a hard teacher and assigns lots of homework, but he is really nice and explains things really well. I learned a lot in his class even though it was a lot of work. I also enjoyed having a take-home final. One thing to keep in mind: he is big on theory which means lots of proofs! I highly recommend this teacher. (Just don't be late to class!)
Gary is a great instructor who really likes his job. He gets to know his students and calls you by your first name. I beleive he wants his students to do well and is very willing to help you when you need. Very easy to understand and follow gives a reasonable amount of work and his expectations are very clear. I've very much enjoyed his class!
Mr.Glaze is the best math teacher ever. He explains by step by step instruction and tells you what he expects. He wants his students to succeed and is always willing to help. Awesome personality and very handsome too. Outstanding teacher!
Mr. Glaze is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He truely cares about each individual and everyone's success in his classes. If you have the opportunity to take from him, do so.
Glaze is pretty good in class. One on one he is TERRIBLE though. Understandably he expects you to know the material. Unfortunately he has no understanding of degree you may or may not know the material. Funnny but not compassionate. Doesn't wait because "everyone else paid for this class"... well, so did I. Do you care about teaching or not?
He takes the first half of the quarter to teach factoring, and crams the rest of the course into the 2nd half of the quarter. He has no understanding, very fast paced, and assumes everyone already knows the material covered in class. I would suggest taking someone else if your already struggling with math, unless you perfer to your waste time.
He knows his math. I had him spring quarter of 08-09. I did all the homework, which is a reasonable amount. Has you turn them in as packets on test day. I probably wouldn't take him again. He humors the weaker students with antics and gestures. If you understand the homework alone you should get a B, I studied for tests, got a 4.0. Easy!
Great teacher, had a good time in class. He keeps it interesting and keeps you involved in the process. He does expect attendance and for you to complete ALL assignments. You earn your grade and he grades hard, but he is fair and detailed in what he expects.
read sections before class, and be prepared to answer questions whether you raise your hand or not.
Gary was a funny guy! He was nice and made class fun. I found it hard to learn with is teaching style but he always offered additional help
Yeah, not my favorite. Picks on students, treats you like you're in high school and his idea of helping you understand the material is telling you to go home and do it. Or assign problems and just leave the room while you flounder. A quarter with him is a nightmare.
I love this teacher! I wish he was teaching Math 98 in the Fall! He is very helpful, was always super nice, & honestly tries to help you succeed. He tries not to make anyone feel dumb in class & will keep trying until you understand the material. Best math teacher at the Falls.
Thinks he is fair. He is fair only in the sense of not favoring particular students-unfair in expecting comm. college students to use brand new concepts in the same time frame as graduate students. Doesn't answer questions-if you ask a question, his response is ?did you read the book?. His heart is not in teaching, but in his own personal hobbies.
Mr. Glaze is a really, really tough teacher. His expectation is that you are going to master the material. He goes pretty fast through the material in his lectures and gives quizzes the very next day. Is always available outside of class to help. Very helpful, but very demanding..got the lowest math grade ever in his class.
This guy is without a doubt, the worst teacher I have ever had the misfortune of having. He does nothing but proofs, you never learn how to use the math. When you have qustions, guess what, he doesn't have office hours and doesn't check his email. He is flakey outside of class and the tests are near impossible. you will fail.
He makes lots of mistakes in class. He didn't correct or collect homework before a test, so you will have no clue what he expects. If you answer a test question correctly, but not quoting exactly what he said in class, he will mark you wrong. He got a little better after I complained to the Dean of SFCC about him. Bad Teacher!
Linear Algebra was tough. Glaze is more interested in proofs and special cases than applying linear algebra to solve problems. He has a totalitarian grading scheme and way of grading exams that is difficult to decipher. There is an hour a day of HWK that he barely looks at. If you speak "geek math" you'll be fine. if not... god help you
I loved this teacher. I thought he was great and remains one of my favorites. He assigns a lot of homework and the material is a pretty fast pace but he makes the class fun. He even gives nicknames. I love his teaching style as well. Unlike others he still does the old-fashioned chalkboard style teaching so it's easy to take notes. I love it :)
I really enjoyed having Glaze as a teacher. Definitely would choose to take another from him if I had to take another math class. He's fun and is clear in his teaching style.
Professor Gary Glaze is the single most funny teacher to ever grace the presence of a class room. Although the work is very challenging and often times makes me want to throw my math book out of the window out of frustration, sir Gary Glaze makes it easy to go to class and try again the next day.
Mr. Glaze is the best teacher. He is patient. He will answer questions, is willing to help out, and teaches in a way anyone can understand math. He is caring and wants to see students succeed in math. I will be taking all of my math classes with him!
I have a very strong base in calculus because I learned it from this guy. He is also the kind of guy I would want to have a beer with(ie he's just super cool). Does a great job at keeping the class engaged and motivated.
Glaze is an awesome teacher. He is by far one of the best math teachers I have ever had and will take him for any all math classes I can. He is one of those teachers that really care for his students and your success in his class. He will help you EVERY TIME you need help! He also makes class fun, he is very funny.
Glaze is one of my fav. teachers at SFCC. I've had him for 2 classes and I was terrible at math till I had him. His class isn't easy but you will learn A LOT. if you do the homework and work hard in general he will do anything he can to help you. BUT if you don't attend class, do the work, etc he WILL notice; he's more available to students who do.
He's very funny guy and good at teaching. But there is a lot of homework. It's a little hard.
Best math teacher I ever had in my life, hated math until I took him and he made it so I could understand it. Specifically took a summer math just to get him as the teacher. He is helpful, wants so see you succeed and very personable. Answers all q's and NEVER makes you feel dumb no matter the question. Best professor at this school
This guy truly wants to help students learn and he enjoys his job. It was a great experience to have him as a teacher. You have to work hard to earn a good grade but Mr. Glaze will work hard to help you.
By far one of the best math instructors I've ever had. His method of teaching is great, and he's always willing to help. Managed an A in his class when I generally get a C in math. Be prepared to do your homework and participate in class, but you will learn.
Very hard and strict. Gives homework like his is the only class we got!
Glaze is tough. He grades his homework like a test, not like practice. I will work for 3+ hours for his written homework, and I will get 1/10. His tests are fair, but the amount and rigor of the homework is ridiculous.
sometimes has a dry sense of humor
Great at teaching and helping everyone to understand the material. He has regular office hours and is willing to work through material that you are struggling with. Tests are very difficult, and worth the majority of points, so it is hard to make up for any lost ground. Even though I didn't do well in the class, I enjoyed having him as a teacher.
Best math teacher at the Falls. He gives hard work, but is clear with what he wants from you, and the test material is communicated well through the homework. He is always willing to help. However, if you don't like handwritten homework, don't take his class.
Cool guy, makes class interesting. He likes to ask questions you cannot answer to see who's got the upper hand. He's stringent but fair, if you show work he'll award participation. His homework is easy, though his tests are what gets ya. Id recomend GareBear.
This was by far the most difficult class I've ever taken. He does not allow graphing calculators on exams,so you must truly understand the material. He is always willing to help, though. He even let me take the final a couple days late because I fell ill, and let us take as many breaks as we needed during the final. Truly wishes for our success!
He is an excellent teacher who keeps students engaged and really cares to help you understand the material. Make sure to read each section before class to get the most out of his lectures. He has homework every day of the week, but works with you if there is a problem.
Class is hard but if u pass it you know how to do everything well
He was great. I wish I could take more classes from him
I lied about the easyness scale to trick people into taking him cause it is so good for you. Yea he's hard but he is a master of his art, you'll fail glazes class knowing more that 4.0ing an average teacher. SHOW UP ON TIME, PUT YOUR ALL INTO IT, DON"T GIVE UP, IT BE A SERIES OF MIND ALTERING EXPIRIENCES!!!!!!!!!!
If you maintain a 93% and above by the final exam you don't have to take the final and you pass the class with a 4.0. Gary can seem mean at first if you aren't used to teachers messing with the students, but he acts weird to keep the students attentive. He doesn't like if you use different math even if you get the sane answer.
Gary is a good teacher. I would highly recommend him.
Glaze is the best math teacher I've ever had (I HATED math prior) but get ready to work. Read the chapters and do the homework. He pulls test questions straight from hw and reading. If you fall behind, he's more than willing to help but if you are not showing you're working hard, he won't respect you. Only math class in which I got higher than a C
If you are ever stuck on anything at all or just want to talk, he makes himself very available and really wants you to succeed.
Gary Glaze is hard but a brilliant explainer of mathematical concepts
Awful office hours, tests are really all that counts towards your grade so study study study or you will not pass. Goes through topics fast and will put a question on the tests that you didn't even go over in class and he will expect you to know it. Worst teacher I have ever had! BEWARE
Second class I've had with him. He makes you work, but he works with those who show effort, even (and especially) if they don't have an aptitude for math. Previous reviewer said his tests are all that matters and they have questions that aren't covered. I don't think that person was paying attention to hmwrk and lecture. It's all there.
Tough class, but if you
Prof Glaze is truly the best teacher I've had. He made me wish I had 3 hours of math class everyday.
Not the greatest teacher. He could use the class time to actually teach and stop using not enough time as a excuse. Hard to follow sometimes and makes students feel uncomfortable. He is a nice guy and will always be willing to help.
Glaze was a great teacher! Once I got past his horrible handwriting and fast pace, he easily became my favorite. Tough grader but he wants to see you know your stuff. Homework daily but its not due until test day. He's hilarious in his lectures and very accessible during office hours. If you have a 4.0 at time of final you don't have to take it.
He is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He is accessible and explains everything clearly. I look forward to math every day.
This class was awful. I typically enjoy math but this professor was horrible. He is no help and expects you to learn just from reading the textbook and he doesn't teach anything. When I do ask him questions the reply is rude. When taking the test, the questions are ones that we've never gone over in the assignments making it very hard to pass tests
Great Math teacher. He responds really quick to messages. Pushes you to learn the math, course has a unique twist, he adds in written assignments that you need to email him. Definitely would take him again, he is a teacher with lots of experience and wisdom.
Professor Glaze may be an excellent teacher... in person. Online though, he was a ghost except for grading. Everything I learned in this class was a result of reading the math textbook (dry is an understatement) and watching Youtube videos. It's possible to pass, but don't expect any actual instruction. Best sharpen your self-sufficiency skills.
Awful, just awful. Get ready to teach yourself pre-calc & to spend time in the tutoring center, since class is just to listen to him talk about Montana & fishing. He'll go over stuff you should already know, but fails to show you how to integrate that into what you are now learning. He says he's retiring, I'm guessing he has already checked out.
Gary Glaze is terrific teacher! In taking his class I felt that I had never understood math better. He values concepts more than solving, which makes his class rewarding and challenging. It is a quite a bit of homework, but if you stay ontop of it its not too bad. He made me a better student and taught me a lot. Overall, great experience!
First two weeks, Calculus was my favorite class. I was so excited to learn it. After that, this class slowly became my least favorite. I do all the homework and got 90-100% on every assignment, never missed a day of class, I spent 5+ hours a day studying and I felt like I understood the material. Yet I failed every exam. Choose another professor.
I have never been so frustrated with a math teacher. Once, he gave a quiz that we only had 1 minute to do. Everyone got it wrong, and then he refused to teach us what the correct answer was. Said, "I trust you all to research it and figure it out."
If I could retake his class, I would. Prof. Glaze is by far one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He does very of explaining things, and unlike many teachers, he actually makes an effort for each student (you must go and talk to him on your own time). Besides being a great teacher, he's a funny man. Make the right choice, go for Glaze!
The worst math professor I've taken at SFCC. I do not recommend him one bit.
Gary Glaze is one of the best teachers Ive ever had. Anyone who complains about him simply isnt trying. If he can tell that youre putting the effort in, Gary is MORE than willing to help, and will go above & beyond to help you. I have gone to his office multiple times this quarter and he NEVER said he didnt have time. Cant recommend him enough
There was an issue with my midterm that I had tried to work out with him, but he refused to cooperate with me and I got a zero on it. If it weren't for that I would have passed the class. I've heard that if you put in the effort, he will help you, but in my experience he was unwilling to help an error outside of my control.
I would give him negative stars if I could. I would never take his class again. Hes unprofessional, rude, and makes everything all your fault if you messed up. Hes not understanding at all, dont waste your time and money on this old man.
Would rather kms than have his class again
He is the most uncooperative and unhelpful professor at SFCC. He tries to make jokes in class and ends up wasting class time with non relevant lectures that have NOTHING to do with the tests he gives out. If you don't want to murder your GPA, AVOID HIM! Gary, if you're reading this, no one cares that you went to Montana State University ;we get it.
Professor Glaze is my favorite teacher that Ive ever had and it makes me sad that I cant take him for a third time. He values people who want to learn and people who respect him. Ever since his class Ive never had as great of a teacher.
He's a great professor! He cares about his students and he's very understanding. He can be tough but that's because he wants you to learn and pass. I would recommend him.
I failed to complete the first assignment BEFORE the due date because of my full time job, so I was dropped from the class due to inactivity despite being active on the first day and I spent $80 on a website he requires. He was not willing to work with me at all to fix this and lied saying it was a school policy, yet the school says its his choice.
Don't bother asking questions because he is just going to make you feel stupid for not learning it yourself. I took this class 2 years ago and I can't believe he is still allowed to work here.
do not take this class if its online. im sure hes a great professor for in person classes, but he was my only option for an online class, and it is the worst class ive ever taken. he does not teach at all, just gives you homework, quizzes, and exams, and puts out the occasional helpful video for a section. please find someone elses online class
