The worst professor I have ever had. Very mean to students and has no respect for undergrads. His lectures suck, I had to go to another lecture because he did not cover the material well enough.

Wretched professor. Lectures were unclear and disconnected. There was no sense of organization to the class. Never prepared class well for tests. Arrogant, and obviously at U-M for research, not for teaching. Appalling how tuition money is wasted.

Decent class. Prof. Glick was funny, and mostly interesting. I felt well prepaired for exams, but make sure to do the out of class work or you wont be.

His lectures are not only unclear and disconnected, they contain incorrect information and miss important points which appear on the exams. He does not know what he is teaching. I have to attend the other lecture for correct/detailed information.

Calling him a bad teacher is not enough. He is the worst human being I have ever met. I don't understand why they let him teach. We started off with over three hundred kids in the class. The last day we had twenty attend.

The only professor I've ever had that said "My early morning coffee is more important than your education" and snickered. Not to mention the 10 min segway one day of how he just got a speeding ticket in his new ferarri *cough* *cough* oh so sorry glick. 'nuff said.

I try to be open minded about professors, but everyone here is absolutely correct. He is arrogant, unprofessional, rude, and intolerable. Avoid this man at all costs- I sincerely hope he does not have/receive tenure!

I sat in for one lecture when I had overslept for Nolta's lecture. Wow, it made getting up two hours earlier seem very pleasant when compared to Glick's horrible notes, contempt for students and frequent mistakes. He could not explain anything clearly. Even if it means losing sleep on a Friday morning, take Nolta!

He's a wealthy venture-capitalist researcher. With that said, he's completely arrogant. He does not care if you know the material or not. He will openly make fun of the questions that people ask in class. I was in his lecture for about 3 weeks before switching to Dr. Nolta (truly a godsend) and it seemed that each day the class got smaller.

Worst professor I've had so far at UofM. The stuff he teaches doesn't have anything to do with what you need to do well in the class. Even if you read the book, you still won't understand anything he says. He only cares about himself, his money, his business, and his damn dog, which he brings to class sometimes.

I have a question...why is it the university continues to have professors like this? Why must I have a prof who shows such contempt for students, trys to 'trick' them with odd/irrelevant to the material questions on test, and who doesn't know how to communicate and enhance information to students?

Had Glick for 210 and 211 4 years ago. I can't stop laughing at all these reviews because they are true and just reminded me of the days. He wasn't so so so bad. Okay maybe 1 so. Very frustrating. He tried to do a review for our chem 210 exam and made things more confusing. He is also not clear about how our lab grade will be assigned. His lab lecture is very pointless and at the very last one, only 20 people showed up.

I thought he was entertaining and I enjoyed lecture at first. Then I realized that he barely mentioned the lab experiements. He never told us how to do any of them! I stopped going and used that time to research the lab material on my own. Take him for lab lecture, you won't even feel guilty for not going.

He was entertaining but I didn't learn anything from him. No exams though so the class was a breeze but he was very unclear on telling us what our grade was based off of. His lectures were not very helpful for lab, when his senior grad student taught us though, the directions were relatively clear.

He taught lecture once a week, and if I had to guess, he actually showed up for maybe 4 of them. Most of the time it was some grad student giving the lecture. When he did give lectures, they were fairly entertaining because he would badger students with questions that nobody knew the answer to.

I only went to his lecture twice then realized that it was completely pointless. He doesn't teach you anything but then emails you about 45 minutes worth of instructional videos for the next lab (which I didn't watch). Your grade really depends on your GSI. If you stay organized with your lab notebook and follow directions you will get an A.

Your grade depended mostly on luck rather than the work you did for the lab. If you got a GSI that gave out a lot of check +s, chances are you're doing good. Otherwise, you will be very surprised about your grade (in a bad way).

Glick was useless in teaching us material and had no structure in assigning grades. I had one less check + than a peer and earned a B versus my friend earning an A+. Did not respond to my email on why I got my grade.

This guy was absolutely terrible. Lab lecture started with 200+ people showing up, went down to only about 20 for the last one. Our grades were never explained to us. If you think the professor doesn't make the difference for a lab, think again. It does.

Worst professor ever. I blame him for not being ready for Chem 216. Never taught us anything relevant to the lab so nobody goes to lab lecture. Grades were assigned without structure. Avoid.

Everything said about him is true. I initially thought the professor for lab doesn't matter. Wrong. He does not teach us anything relevant to lab, and had no structure to assigning grades. Your grade is a surprise. You can think that you do the work well, you get an A. Not true. He won't explain to you how you got the grade you got.

Grades were NOT explained clearly. The class isn't hard necessarily, but honestly, if you want to be a professor, you should probably like your students, not cause them to feel inferior to you. He isn't a people person at all. If he is your only option for chem 211, take it later.

This guy will not care until he sees you do. Taking a seminar with Glick is 100% different from an actual class. He is helpful, warm, and will actually remember you later. I had such a good experience in this class and tell everyone to take it. Sometimes it's cancelled bc he's in Paris for Lycera, but he makes up for it in buying the class food :D

Lecture was useless and did not teach anything you couldn't read yourself. Everyone stops going after the first couple. Pretty funny guy though and very intelligent. Grading is whack in this class but everyone knows that. Show up, pretend to do work, get a B+. It's one credit, who cares?

He didn't show up to class half the time, and the sub was more helpful than him. He often talked about random things without explaining what to do in the lab. He is generally arrogant and an arse-hole to students. Grades are given fairly arbitrarily- the vast majority of people get a B+. By the end of the semester about 5% of the class went to lec.

He is very unclear in what he expects for the final exam and the Labs are graded, Good (70%), Very Good (85%), Excellent (100%), so cross your fingers that your GSI is helpful/lenient.

This guy just sucks. His lectures teach you nothing you can't learn from literally reading over your lab course pack before lab begins. His humor is lame and drawn out, and he has a very condescending way of carrying himself. I'd be hard pressed to find a single student who enjoyed having him this semester. Skip this guy, he's a joke.

The day before the final, he sent an email saying he would not answer any questions regarding the final. On top of that, he posted no review materials, held no review sessions, no practice tests, etc. Our only source of review are his vague lecture slides. Way to make a 1 credit class more work than some of my 4 credit classes.

I'm a senior taking this class. This is the worst prof I've had at UM. That should say something. At least in other bad classes, the prof usually makes an effort, to some extent. He genuinely does not care - he doesn't even show up to class sometimes! To top it off I've seen him talk to my peers very condescendingly in lab. AVOID HIM.

I am currently 'studying' for the final with NO IDEA what I should even be looking at because he has given us no information on how to prepare or what to study.

Please avoid taking this class with Glick. There is an arbitrary grading scale for the labs and an exam of unknown content at the end. Hold it off for a semester if you can and take orgo 1 lab with a different prof.

It is highly GSI dependent.5 lab reports. My GSI asked me to turn in the last one by the end of the class, but another GSI said the due date was the end of the week at his office hour. For the first two , I got the grading sheets, but for the last three, he only circled two or three places and gave me "Very Good" (B) without grading sheets.

He made a hard exam. He said in his announcement the days before the final exam, "During each of the two last lectures, I discussed what would be on the final exam, what to study for, and how to study. Neither Tyler or I will respond to such questions by email. If you are confused, please look back at your notes from the last lectures."

Go through EVERY detail in the lab coursepack. Circle the unnoticeable words. Even if it asks you to die in an extremely small font, do it! Have a VERY good relationship with your GSI who may pick on you when grading your lab reports. Love him or her if possible! Seek help or you will make many mistakes. It's even harder than chem 210 with Nolta!

Harder than the orgo lecture. He does not care at all, expects his students to magically know information and is very condescending and rude. The final he gave was ridiculous testing non- orgo related concepts and even the orgo related concepts that he tested are not from orgo 1! your better off deferring a semester of lab than taking it with him.

You are better off deferring a semester than taking it with him. The final tested non-orgo concepts and was ridiculous.

This is the worst prof I will hopefully ever have. Never said what was on the final exam and expected us to remember concepts from AP chem. I really don't even know how he is a professor. I felt like a 1st grader with his grading scale of good, very good, or excellent. DO NOT TAKE THIS WITH GLICK.

This is the worst teacher I've ever had. This man knows nothing about teaching whatsoever. I had perfects on all the labs but when it came to the final he made it ridiculously hard. Avoid any class that he may teach. The guys worth millions and couldn't care less about anyone other than himself.

Although this class was very frustrating due to the unclear grading scale/expectations, I don't think Glick is a hard grader. The final was pretty odd in that there were probably 10 questions that we never learned specifically, but I don't think anyone got them so the curve was pretty steep. A lot of your grade comes down to your GSI's lab scores.

Even if you do well in the lab and average on the final, you won't get a good grade. No clear information on what grades are based on. Only get a few graded labs back & if you try to calculate a final grade based on that and the score on the final, you get a different (lower) grade than what you should get based on the grading scale they send out.

Worthless professor who is only teaching to ensure his company will continue to receive university funding. So unhelpful and arrogant. The actual lab isn't hard but the lectures are useless and the exam was pointless given that more than a few questions on it was material that wasn't ever actually covered. Avoid him!

Worst class ever. Wanna think that you did well in the class but then get a much lower grade than you expect? That's Glick. Your grade for this lab was all dependent on your GSI as well as who else was in your lab. Your lab reports were given a check+, check, or check-, which didn't really have any meaning.

Please take this class with a good GSI. Or you will get frustrated each time you get your graded lab report returned to you. Writing lab reports require skills, and Glick made it difficult to master them. Glick + bad GSI cause chem 211 = PE + Technical Writing. Take it with Nolta. She does not give a final exam and makes it really interesting.

This lab was not enjoyable. First lecture: 200+ people, last lecture: 20 people showed up. Lab reports were merely graded as check+, check, check-. No rubric for grading either. Professor Glick was always really helpful and had high expectations for the class. He always brought food to class and would always let you know exactly where you stood, no bs.

Might be good for a seminar course, but not for a legit chem course. Wrote some irrelevant exam. How grading is done is NOT clear at all - your final grade is either hit or miss. Your experience will depend greatly on your GSI. Clearly shows that he has no desire to be there.

Would take again

Dr. Glick is super nice. He is lecture heavy, but they were never boring and made class go by fast for me. Make sure you study for his exams though or you won't do well. I would take him again if I could, also I made quizlets for all the test so use them they worked really well for me. Each of them have his name and exam number in the title!
