Amazing, informed, and respected teacher--and I got a job offer!!! And I can use what I learned in the class--he is a great mentor-totally recommended!
Ok teacher. Does not give much direction in design tips when working on projects. I probably would not take him again since I really want a professor who interacts more in classroom projects. Likes to leave early, so it's hard to get projects completed if you don't have a flexible schedule.
Another good teacher, very helpful and involved with art and the students too.
Always more concerned about his personal business than his class and students. Leaves early and seems preoccupied with other things.
He's a nice teacher only problem is I hate the class the assignments are pointless also Im having a hard time following and the whole time your zoned out, most of the time it is totally uninteresting and boring. I wouldn't take him again and I have never wanted to just quit a class in the middle of the semester.
Definitely a class worth taking.
I enjoy taking courses with Gary Graves. I have taken him for multiple courses throughout my time at Fullerton College, and he's been a great influence to me. I would recommend taking him for any course he teaches. #FlyAHero
Definitely take this class.
I love the activities that we do in class, and the fact that he helped us prepare for the outside world by helping us build our resume and cover letters
He gave me the drive that I needed to improve my skills as a student and was helpful when I was struggling in the beginning.
He was alot of fun. If you had any questions he was more than willing to answer them and help you as much as possible without giving you the exact answer. He wants YOU to do the work but he will guide you along the way.
Great Class, Great Teacher
He seems like he is very well educated because of his long standing business. I felt like he provided everything for our success. you will walk out of the class feeling well taken care of.
This class is perfect if you are wanting to own your own business one day! I enjoyed creating my business plan; however, I was intimidated by making one. Professor Graves made the process easy and not stressful. As long as you stay on top of his timeline, by the end of the class it will be an easy A. Gives lots of extra credit!! Love that!
A good course with this professor.
I enjoyed his class because he is very clear in the way he explains lectures, as well as gives you good feedback to improve your work which I think is great. I honestly think he is a good professor which I considered taking for another course I will be needing, do to the way he presents class in a manner that involves you in class.
This class was great. Keep up with the assignments don't fall behind and you will be fine. Professor is full of knowledge and is always willing to help. I will definitely take him again.
This class is worth it. Replaces english 100 and great teacher. lenient and tons of extra credit. got a c on a test but did enough extra credit to skip the final.
great teacher
My favorite teacher this semester! He is always willing to help you and he wants his students to succeed. For this class, you have to turn in a complete business plan and present your idea to the class. You have to work for it, but the work is due throughout the semester and Graves is very helpful. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities, too
There is a lot of work, but it is not terribly difficult and will be completely helpful if you are trying to start your own business. Do the work and come to class and you will do well in the class.
Useful information for real-world business
Mr. Graves is extremely fair in his grading. There was a lot of work in both classes but if you stay on track, you will do well. He gave good examples, extra credit and points for participation. I do not test well but was still able to get an A in both classes. Every point matters and will help you at the end.
Had Mr Graves for 2 Classes this semester. BUS111 and BUS180. Learned a lot in both classes. There is a lot of work, but it's not difficult - just takes time. He's one of those teachers that wants to see you do well. Gives extra credit and good examples to follow. If you do your work and participate, you will do well even if you struggle.
He was a great teacher and very fair. Had to speak in front of class - which was difficult but a good experience. Lots of work but stay on track and participate and you will do well. I would highly recommend him to anyone who struggles. He's fair and gives extra credit to help offset tests.
Gary is a great teacher and I would highly recommend him. There are a good number of papers but they are only one page mostly and pretty easy overall. A couple presentations but he isn't hard on you and they only need to be about 5 min at most. Lots of great opportunities in his class to develop your skills. Take Him!
As a re-entry student in my late 40's I'm finding even the basic requirements challenging due to my lack of experience as a classroom student. Professor Graves was easy to work with, appreciable, and a true teacher at heart.
Literally just finished the final for this class. & I can honestly say Graves is one of my favorite professors at Fullerton College. If you want to start a business I would recommend taking his class. He's very knowledgeable; the class is concise and informative. Tests are simple if you've done the homework. Expect to submit presentations.
Professor Graves is one of the BEST teachers I have taken. He really cares about his students and helps you if you need it. Loved his class and the way he teaches. DEFINITELY take him for any business class.
You will need the textbook to do the online open book quizzes that are due each week. Presenting in class is a requirement so if you don't like public speaking I would not recommend taking his class. Overall professor Graves is super easy and laid back, if you have any questions he is more than glad to help you with anything.
Class is easy if you have a clear business idea. Class is designed to help out students who know what they want to start up, but just need the information to help them get there. The homework is due every sunday, and is online, online quizzes are part of the weekly homework too (easy). Class time is just to review what you read during the weekend.
Very organized. A lot of busy work but manageable if you stick to the schedule.
Great class with current info. Tests on line. Homework consistent. Projects spaced throughout semester
If you miss any classes it isn't the end of the world but you might be missing some good information. A lot of the days are work days. He plans out nice slides for lectures and gives good business feedback.
I took Mr. Graves' course BUS 111 this semester. I enjoyed the lectures very much. Professor is highly qualified and competent. He always supports his lectures with real life examples which is very valuable for people pursuing business majors. Moreover, I registered for one of his courses for next semester, and look forward to it
Professor Graves is the best teacher I had this semester, he make the class interesting and funny that want you to go back to class every time. We need more teachers like professor Graves.
Graves provides good tips for real life. However, he's a lazy professor and relies too much on MindTap. All of his lectures come directly from MindTap. Half of your grade is dependent on MindTap's automated grading which tends to be inaccurate for writing assignments and provides no feedback. Slow at grading the other half of assignments submitted.
The course is straight forward. Do all the work, and you should be able to pass. Here are some key points regarding his course: ^ Mindtap assignments due every week ^ Lots of extra credit opportunity ^ Unlimited notes for the exams (only hand written) ^ Lecture can get boring ^ Grammarly
This is a great class. Learned a lot of things that I thought I knew. I would take Prof. Graves' class again. He's easy going and motivated. He gives students chances to improve their grades by giving homework/classwork and volunteering for extra credits.
Awesome professor who loves helping students reach any and all of their business goals. Very respectful and knowledgeable person.
Easy to follow class. Professor pretty flexible inside class. Online work follows a good schedule. End of class report not too overwhelming.
BUS170 was a good class to learn the basics of e-commerce and develope a proto-type of a website. Feedback was excellent but I wish we had more time to test other systems instead of using just one system to create the website. Prof. Graves is insightful and helpful and provides good, practical information that can be used in my career.
Took his BUS170,131,186 and MKT103. He provides great insight for real life applications. The grading is simple. He is easily approachable and is willing to work with students. He runs his own businesses and can helps students understand how a business runs. Up to date with technology. Great professor all around, very helpful. Highly recommended.
DON'T ever take online class with him! ONLY take the in-class version! TOO MUCH HOMEWORK for online, LESS in-class. He just fails to understand the amount of time, trouble for work in online versions. I failed the online but got A for in-class version! Worthwhile classes but he needs to be more consistent, not punish online students! Business major
I learn a lot in this class!
There is no class where you don't have to work if you want to get an A. Mr. Graves is a great professor and a very patient individual. He explains every detail that you need to know about the business world. Listen to his lectures, do your homework, and you will succeed. He gives many extra credit assignments that can help improve grades if needed.
Easy class. Easy A. Easy grader. You can easily sleep in the class and still get an A.
Professor Graves was great. Responds well to emails, very informative, makes clear of expectations and rules. Took this class in the summer and its A LOT of work. Just had to manage time and assignments. Was a great class and very interesting. Professor graves was a great help when I needed him for questions and is there for continued support.
Professor Graves gives a lot of homework, but it is really easy, and as long as you do the work and what he is asking for, you will get an easy A. Not a lot of effort to pass. When you ask him a question, he gets right down to the point of the issue.
Took his online 170 Class. Was a little all over the place, but by the end of the course he only requires a certain amount of points in the course for an A. I didn't do 2 of the 3 exams and I still got a solid A. 3 discussion posts, 2 assignments and 1 quiz per week.
Prof Graves provides a lot of materials in his class. As a new entrepreneur, I walked away from the class with new knowledge and insight. He seems to care about his students and is available by text or email when you have questions. Offer good insight and advice.
There is a lot of assignments each week but many are discussions and you can learn a lot from other students by reading them. You need to have a working knowledge of spreadsheets too.
I found Prof. Graves on his Fullerton College website. He provides a lot of information and steps through the process of building a building. I never thought I would be interested in starting my own business until I took this class. Homework and online discussion every week but worth it.
Professor Graves is great! I truly enjoyed his class and hope to take him again! He made class fun and was intentional about making sure all of his students understood what was going on with every module. He is generous with his time and goes above and beyond!
Took this class in Summer of 2020. There is a lots of homework in this class. whenever I had trouble he is there for you
Professor Graves genuinely cares about his students, grades assignments quickly & fairly. Weekly quizzes that are easy, with unlimited time & 3 attempts. He provides you with all the resources & tools to complete your speeches. His class is not hard, you just have to do your assignments. He allowed us to submit missing assignments, he's the best!
Professor Graves is a Jedi Master. You won't see what his purpose is in the beginning, however, if you take in every lecture, video, slide and do every assignment, you will be amazed at how much you learned and how far you traveled. I'm so thankful for what I'm taking away from his class. Looking forward to building my new e-commerce site.
Professors need to TEACH, even if its a weekly video lecture. This was an online Speech class and he never once gave a lecture to let us know his point of view, or how he would do things, or to give examples. Depended completely on the horrible text book, YouTube, and peer feedback which was useless for the most part. Completely unorganized.
Honestly, one of the goated professors at Fullerton. He really teaches you a lot about business and how to manage one. Class really wasnt that hard its just 2 discussions per week
Would gladly take more classes taught by him in the future! * Willingness to help: Very kind human being who is willing to work with you when you communicate your needs. * He is clear and direct. * FYI: Make sure you pay attention to grading percentage scale. 92.5% and higher is considered an A. * Do your work, and you'll really learn a lot.
There was lots of inspirational and informative material given by the instructor to read. This class was very flexible with my work schedule, I was able to study and turn in assignments when completed. We used "PitchVantage" as a tool to practice our speeches which was pretty amazing!
Honestly I don't even know where to start. Even if I ignore the fact that he doesn't check emails and doesn't care about students, the class was still terrible and so so so unorganized. If you decide to take his class, please try in person classes instead of online. Projects are posted with little to no explanation and discussions are self taught.
Prof. Graves helped me to better understand the world of business and I can't wait to start my own business. While there is work due every week, it was worth the time to read, participate and complete the assignments. He did give feedback on business plan components and I would have liked more feedback but I have the confidence I need to start.
BUS 185 - Assigns lots of homework so manage your time wisely or you will fall behind. The lectures are packed & assignments are due twice a week. As long as you're participating in the discussions & doing the homework, you'll pass. The final project is worth 200 points so prepare wisely. Overall, a good class. Graves was nice and also offers EC.
This is public speaking so you must talk a lot. Before taking this class, I had a fear of it but the professor and my classmate helps me have more confidence. He always gives me detail and encourages feedback in every speech I take. You will have a lot of work to do, a week have 1-3 assignments that need to do.
Good professor but very disorganized. I found myself wanting to drop out of frustration at how disorganized his class was but unfortunately I'm stubborn and his class wants that hard once I weeded out the unnecessary material.
If you do all of your assignments and turn them in on the due date- you should not have any problems passing with an A. However, I do advise that you e-mail professor Graves if an unfortunate complication happens such as out-of-town matters or technical issues. Professor Graves is understanding and lets you turn in late assignments.
Great professor, he was the first professor I met on the first day of college and he certainly made an impact. The class is fun with what possible topics are available to have your speech be about. As well as helpful criticism that doesn't feel like negatives but feels like helpful notes to do better for the next one. Great for bettering talking
This class gets you more comfortable with public speaking. Professor Graves is very chill and helpful. The freedom of choosing certain topics for speeches helps a lot, and you will definitely notice improvement after every speech if you put in the work. Only bad side is he is very unorganized on Canvas, it may get a little stressful in that sense.
provides irrelevant articles so as to avoid teaching, incapable of encouraging participation, not 1 group project, laughable grading criteria, nonexistent feedback, discouragingly soul crushing, no tests, lack of sympathy, undignified, enjoyed us lecturing, impossible to contact, incompetent of most basic online setup offered EC by plugging his IG
Professor Graves truly stands out as an outstanding teacher of Small Business Management! When I enrolled with minimal knowledge of entrepreneurship, his teaching style sparked my enthusiasm and provided me with invaluable skills. I am now confident and excited to embark on my business venture. Thank you exceptional guidance and inspiration!
Fun class, very informative and can teach you a lot about operating and owning a business. There is a lot of work, but it didn't take long to complete most of the time. If you complete the final, which part of it is a video of you pitching a business, he will grade it and let you know how to improve your grade and resubmit. A bit unorganized.
This professor has students prepare themselves to open a business. And students creates presentations of what their business is.
Graves is an outstanding professor who really tries his best with students! His modules are relatively simple to follow but if you miss one, it will be a little difficult to regroup. Otherwise, a 10/10!
BUS170 was a good class, and we built a website and mobile app for our online business. While the professor is available, he does like students to try and figure things out first. I will also take his BUS180 course, which will complement the skills I just learned. Grads2Be students can benefit from his knowledge of starting a business.
I took BUS180 to learn how to turn my hobby into a real business. I loved how the instructor encouraged us to use our cultural background to enhance our target market and build an authentic business that customers want to buy from. He also encouraged us to take an internship course to gain more experience which I might do next semester,
Professor Graves is incredible! His classes are engaging, well-organized, and packed with real-world applications. He's supportive, approachable, and always encourages creativity. If you want a professor who truly cares about your success, take his class. Highly recommend!
Professor Graves is very respected and clear in what is needed to pass his courses. I've taken most of my business courses with him and most follow the same structure. Online material is heavy but week assignments allow for flexibility. Participation matters but extra credit opportunities help. Responds quickly to your inquiries. I'd recommend.
Professor Graves is an outstanding educator with a clear, engaging teaching style. He simplifies complex business concepts with real-world examples and fosters an inclusive, supportive learning environment. His organized lectures, timely feedback, and dedication to student success make his class a rewarding experience.
Professor Graves is an inspiring, dynamic educator who blends real-world experience with cutting-edge trends like AI and entrepreneurship. His lectures are engaging, and he truly cares about student success. Challenging yet fair, his courses prepare you for real-world opportunities. Take his class if you want to learn, grow, and use future tools!
Professor Gary is an amazing instructor! He makes the material engaging and easy to understand, even when the topics are complex. His teaching style is organized, clear, and full of practical examples, which makes it easier to apply what you've learned. He's also very approachable and supportive.
I took BUS 170 with Professor Graves and highly recommend it. He clearly explains what's needed to succeed. The online material is detailed, but weekly assignments are flexible. Participation matters, but extra credit helps. He responds quickly and is very supportive.
Professor Graves is an excellent instructor who clearly outlines expectations and provides thoughtful guidance throughout the course. He encourages students to think critically about the type of business they would like to own one day, fostering creativity and practical application.
Professor Graves made this class engaging and welcoming through great materials and discussions. I enjoyed sharing my creativity, learning from others, and giving feedback. I'll carry the lessons and thinking strategies with me throughout my life. He's professional, kind, and fair. Thank you for an amazing experience! Good luck and take care.
