Expects a lot but is very fair

My worst nightmare is to grow up someday to be like him.
He'll act fair but he will bite you hard on exams & grades
Worst class that I have ever had!
Horrible
Avoid him at all costs, now I know!!!!
Lots of work, little rewards.

There are teachers who should retire, he is one of them.

horrible, do not take, boring, too much work, hard, tests suck.
HE SUCKS.... He is condescending. He treats you like you're stupid.
Get ready for course forgiveness.
It sucks that we don't have negative numbers to rate this professor :)
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you bull-****ted your way through 201, I suggest you rebuy your book &review!

Worst teacher at SDSU, has no sense of humor or ability to teach. Exams hard
We started with 45+ students, ended with only 15. AVOID AVOID AVOID
The worst teacher EVER!!! He sets you up to fail

Sound like your listening to Dave Shelly and Chainsaw...The National Ba............................ sketball Association.
WORST EVER!!!!!!!!!!! he is terrible! (mean and a bad teacher)

Horrible instructor, He does not explain everything class is very repetitive and you might as well not go on the days w/ no groupwork cause the notes are on the website verbatim. Quite possibly the worst teacher at SDSU AVOID THIS CLASS IF POSSIBLE
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE TEACHER. DOESN'T HELP YOU AT ALL, DO NOT, I REPAEAT, DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE!!!
He is a horrible teacher. I will be taking this class over, because I could not pass, event though I have a 3.7 GPA.His lecture does not help, his homework is impossible to figure out, and his test are even harder! No matter what, take another teacher!

Worse class ever! Don't take!
An outstanding teacher with a thorough knowledge of accounting.

Do not take this guy! He is mean and harsh.
looks forward to seeing half the class fail

HE REALLY DOES ENJOY STUDENTS FAIL. HE'S MEAN. BEST ADVICE IS READ CHAPTER BEFORE LECTURE THEN YOU'LL SOMEWHAT UNDERSTAND. THEN DO HOMEWORK AND KNOW IT WELL, I MEAN WELL. YOU'LL PROBABLY GET A C DOING THAT. BUT ME, I HAVE TO DO COURSE FORGIVE.
hard, took tests with blue books, wish i listened to ratemyprofessors.com, offers meetings, powerpoint presentations, take this course at a community college
LEMON ON A PAPER CUT: Plenty o'busy work in an unproductive environment. Confusing assignments, timed group activities, and homework reviews the day of finals and tests.
He is incredibly awful. He teaches one way and then tests another. I am a 3.5 GPA student and I had to take a fail in his class and retake it next semester!
He is incredibly difficult. Sometimes he is rude with students. I don't recommend this teacher to anyone unless you later want to retake this class. His explanations are worthless.
Do not take this class, even if all the other accounting classes are closed. This teacher is rude and refuse to give a review for tests. Class is based on pop quizes and group work every other day. Exams and finals are done in blue books.
Doesn't clearly explain his methods. Isn't always willing to answer questions. 40% of current class failed the first test 51% failed the second. Somewhat tempermental and rude to others. Group problems and quizzes are too lengthy to solve in time giv
for one his homework is like an exam and the exam is like a midterm that had little to do with the homework. you will be lost even if you read the book and go to class because he brushes over main points. formulas hard to find in book or powerpoints.

Unhelpful, rude, useless even if read chapter SERIOUSLY DO NOT TAKE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE I don't even recommend private tutor. I love accntng but I'm failing. He really shouldn't be teaching. Highest grade in class is B. SDSU SHOULD GET RID OF HIM
Rude, rude, rude. If you register for his class...you have already failed. He rolls his eyes at questions. His exams have only 10 questions. He's tricky. You are only graded on pop quizzes, scary/embarrassing pop group work, and exams.
nice teacher, boring class, but he curves tests. he's approachable and willing to help. i dont know why other ratings say he's rude because he's not. he's one of the easiest acctg teachers.
Must be an expert in Accouting to get an A in this class. He dicusses the basics of the chapter in lecture, then tests on very technical and complex situations. Questions on exams are similar to homework, but still very difficult. Do not take him.
This guy was an easy A... Only idiots and morons fail Grudnitski. If you failed THIS class, I suggest you change your major.
I HATE THIS PROFESSOR! He is the worst and uncaring teacher at SDSU. Dont listen to those random people who say hes not that bad! DO NOT TAKE HIM AT ALL COSTS! He does NOT curve and he fails half the class.
Teacher sucks! tests arent hard if you do the homework though. Classes are useless, but you have to go for quizzes and group problems. If you take him plan on learning the material by reading the book.
"pop" quizzes consistently every other day.hw does not prep u 4 quizzes.must be an acctant to do group quizzes.does not curve tests.found out he was EVIL & UNCOMPROMISING 2nd day.AND i am almost 100% sure that GRUDNITSKI left those "good&qu

Horrible professor. Answers questions with questions rather than answers. Rude to students, argumentative. Discourteous and unhelpful if you are able to find him during office hours. Exams are more about math tricks than accounting.
Hard! Hard! Hard!
This guy is about as bad as it gets. DO NOT take this class. He doesn't explain things at all; he is in his own world when he explains things. He is a disgrace to the SDSU college of business.

this guy sucks
A powerpoint professor who loves to read verbatim. Does not expound on lecture material or give any of his own input. Extremely unhelpful and rude. Will not answer questions when asked, and will not comprehensively work problems on the board.
He's the worst professor I've had at State. He has his own idea of what accounting is and expects everyone to understand his tricky math problems.
Does not answer questions...even during office hours. WIll NOT accept doctor's notes...even if it is serious...loves to give bad grades...DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
i have a 3.28 gpa and i got an F in his class
THIS IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. He refuses to answer questions. I have a 3.78 GPA and had to withdraw from his class because I was earning a D by the second exam. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I have 150 units and I have found that the "overall" ratings here are generally accurate; thus, I avoided taking his class. But I had to, and found him not as bad as the reviews painted him. Hard-YES!, Trick questions, fair-YES! Want to learn,

Get help immediately! You will need it!
was my hardest class that semester, oragnized PowerPoints,go2class,payattention,learn,understand material, tests require this.Got A w/ work.only really used book for in class group problems.1x/wk quiz or grp prob, be there.wld try to avoid him, was hard.
Took his class for the summer. Heard horrible things about him, but I believe they aren't accurate at all. Lots of quizzes and problems from the book, but was very fair and helpful if you go to him.
Very difficult, help during office is very hard, I left there with more doubt on the subject than when I was going in. Very confusing. To anyone taking this class, good luck (you will need it).
didn't pass the class, took it 2nd time with diff professor got an A, no joke. AVOID HIM
If I wanted to watch powerpoint presentations for 50 minutes then go home.. wait.. no.. I would never WANT to do that. for the love of God do some teaching! HORRIBLE teacher.. do NOT enroll in his class...
PLZ DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He is so hard, no joke. I got an A in acctg 201 and this is the hardest ever. Doesn't teach, but expects you to know it all, including his deceptive tricks. Tests are hard. Good luck to anyone that takes him!!!!!!!
No communication skills, very dry, does not help student when you ask a question, makes you feel stupid for asking him a question. tests are unfairly structured, likes you to figure out his test puzzles. the semester is not even over yet and im already rating him as very poor.
Someone hurt this man (his mother?) and damaged him so much that he is a total hater. Do not take this man if you have any other options.
Expects a lot from his students but doesn't offer any help in return. Has a way of making students feel stupid for asking questions. Quiz or group problem once a week. Three tests that are pretty tough.
Do what ever you can not to take this guy, he expects you to be a a professional accountant by the end of his lectures. First class i did not pass.
Do the homework! It helps with the quizzes. When I did the homework I did good on the quizzes and the exams.
SAVE YOURSELF NOW!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! TAKE ANDERSON (HEARD HE'S WAY BETTER)

Worst teacher i've ever had. Gives homework and tests on things not even close to what he describes. Pop Quizzes are just as impossible and u do problems in groups that leave u more confused. Makes you feel stupid for askin questions. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, unless u want hell
He wrote on someones paper "if this is the best you can do then you should stop trying." That is a sad comment.
come on kids i missed quite a few quizzes and still came out with a B. college isnt supposed to be a cake walk. this class takes some effort so if you are somewhat above avg. intelligence and actually read the chapters before an exam you will be okay. i will admit though he does lack patience.
had him about long time ago but I remember him well, got an A- (should have gotten an A but oh well)
When I asked a question he said, "If you knew what you were doing, you wouldn't be confused." not very helpful at all. doesn't test on what he teaches. tries to trick you on tests. quizzes are impossible. if you think you did well on a test, you didn't. expect to do poorly.
Easy class taught by a great professor! With just a little effort, you will get an A.
He was by far the worst teacher I have ever had!! I went to his office-during his office hours-to ask a question and he was incredibly rude and unhelpful. He has NO BUSINESS being a teacher!!! This class is incredibly difficult not for the content but for the way he presents it. Don't take this clas
2 chapters each lecture - lot of info - but pay attention and it will pay off! Group problem every other class, so you have to show up. You get to use a "cheat-sheet" for his exams (multiple choice).

What a joke this guy is
I graduated in 2002. Coming from someone who did get and A in this class, was not an accounting major, and is way more successful than this guy will ever be. This professor has no business teaching kindergarten, let alone college. You could read the boo
Not a very good professor. He's just there to collect a paycheck. I did well (A-), but it was because I stopped going to class. He acts like he is so far above the students at SDSU, but someone should remind him he works at SDSU.
ONE WORD HORRIBLE... WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD... HE DOESNT TEACH HE READS POWER POINTS AND ACTS LIKE YOUR STUPID IF U DONT GET IT RIGHT AWAY.. test are very tricky... he doesnt offer help and doesnt care about students
Grud****niski is the biggest cheesedick at state... the guy is an absolute maggot and cannot teach. Do not waste 3 units by taking his class, because he is the worst teacher u will ever come across
I can't stand him. He is an awful teacher. NEVER take him. I'm in two honors programs w/ a 3.6 GPA and I'm not sure if I'm going to pass this class. He is ridiculous. I hope he gets fired because he doesn't know how to teach. Get ready to teach yourself if you take him.
every other class is lecture, the other classes are split btw either a quiz that is impossible or a group problem where you must participate. 3 exams that are killers! i should have taken anderson, heard he was ridiculously way easier. but at the end grudnitski does tend to bump all the grades up of those who have actually stayed in the class.
he is hard, but i think if i studied more with the book and the homeworks and everything and if i wasn't shy to ask questions, i would have gotten a good grade. there are other students who gets A's.if you like studying a lot, take him. if not, then don't.don't be too mean people. you're the one that makes your grades.
He's the worst teacher I have EVER had in my life. He cannot teach. I can't believe the money I wasted at SDSU for this subject. I thought I'd at least get my momey worth for my education. He's goal is to strass the sudents out and make them fail! 32% of the class is failing at the moment! He also called us"special" as in stupid to our faces!!!!!!!
DO NOT DO IT! if you have to wait a semester to declare upper division..do it, its worth the wait, dont take him. As*****. Horrible horrible horrible, mean, all pwrpt, terrible, The WORST!
Horrible Horrible Horrible. Run as fast as you can from this man. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!he really is a horrible person. has no consideration for anything. does NOT know how to teach. 30% of my class failed although we were mostly honor students in his class. when we aproached him about it, he called us special meaning we were dumb.
Grudnitski is not that bad. Understand, he's not the greatest of instructors, but if you do your work religiously you should be fine.
Awesome professor who likes to challenge students. Take him; you will learn a lot!
If you have any Managerial Accounting aptitude at all, it's really pretty easy. Tests emphasize problems only; no vocabulary.
Professor not good. No help for students who have trouble.
Very easy. Recommended. Enough said.
I am generally uncritical of professors, however I thought I should warn anyone considering Grudnitski, do not take him. He clearly does not enjoy teaching and makes no effort to teach material well, nor help his students. He makes demeaning comments when people ask questions, and does not seem to care if his entire class fails.
The only thing worse than Grudnitski is a ****, this man should be drug into the street and beaten. There is no hope w/ him. Its worth waiting a semester to declare upper div or taking summer school. Reads pp slides verbatim, gets pissed when students ask Q's bec he can't clarify an asset from a liablity. gRUDEnitski!
Unprofessional - won't answer questions via email, gotta go into office hours. Uptight partial credit - tests questions go from 10points (full credit), 5(partial) and 0. Why go to lectures when he copies from book? For a guy who looks like the 6 Flags guy, he really is a jerk.
Grudnitski is the worst professor ever!! He won't help you in class or office hours. he is the biggest jerk in the world. AVOID, AVOID AVOID. Trust me. If you ask a question he'll just look at you and not answer making you feel extremly stupid. hopefully he gets fired because u will have to teach yourself. I learned nothing from him.
Bitter old man who does not like to help out. I consistenly got bad grades on my quizzes, as did everyone else, and he didn't even address them. he'd just go on to the next chapter and confuse the hell out of us once again. during group problems if we didn't understand something he'd get pissed and offer no help whatsoever. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
This class definitely was not as difficult as most people seem to say. The class itself is long at 3 1/2 hours, but I thought it was broken up as well as possible, with the first section being lecture, 2nd section being homework review, and the last being a group problem. Make good use of the 1 page of notes allowed on exams!
Not too hard. The tests are exactly like the hw, but the group problems are very difficult. Please do the hw so that you can help your group. Other students didn't seem to do too well on the tests. Just do the hw a million times and you'll do well. Don't bother studying the book, but you will need it for class.
This class is difficult and the professor is not nice. He's about as stiff and unhelpful as they come. Unfortunately, he's the only one teaching this class and unfortunately he hasn't retired.
The secret to his class: work hard at it. He won't sympathize at all with your distress, but he will answer your SPECIFIC questions during office hours. In my tests, I got: A,D+,A-. I improved by doing: all hmwk problems, a cheat card for each quiz, redo of quizzes, extras: like-lecture book problems and the book's web quiz. He curves final grade
RUN AWAY. This is the worst class that you will probablly ever have in your life. He makes you life a living hell. I felt physically sick in his class. There is no way you can understand what he is saying and if you ask him a question he just answers with another question. Avoid at all costs.
Can't stand him!! He doesn't care about his students or how poorly the whole class is doing. Horrible at explaining things and if you ask him a question he gets angry.
The class itself is not too difficult, but the prof doesn't help much. He glides through PPTs and expects you to get it right away. He is not very helpful and a bit of a jerk. If you challenge him on anything, be prepared to back it up as he will go on the attack. Just make sure you know how to do the HWs and you will be fine on the exams.
This class was the easiest I have ever had. Absolutely no need for private accounting tutoring.
This guy just sucks!
This class is crazy hard! At least half the students are failing. I work with a private accounting tutor regularly, and he is the reason I am doing well. Good luck if you try to get through this on your own.
This teacher sucks! Quiz every week on each chapter. Makes you feel dumb if you try and ask a question.
Class is hard...as in crazy, nutty hard. Prof. has a bit of an undeserved bad rap; he's tough, and not great in office hours, but he will answer any and all questions in class...so ask them! Almost nothing can prepare you for the 1st exam...just study 5x as much as you think you need to, and you'll be ok. Seriously...maybe 10x. Good luck!
Avoid this prof. unless you really enjoy accounting. Ridiculously hard class, teaches like everyone in class is an acctg major. Quiz every week and the most ridiculously hard exams. He knows the material and is pretty nice, but unless you plan to spend the semester at his office hours avoid taking him.
This is a tough class, but I made it through with an "A" by seeing A. Tutor consistently. He was a huge help! Professor Grudnitski's quizzes and exams are very challenging. You need to know the material very well if you expect to get through his class.
I attended for two classes and was done! I've talked to someone that's great in accounting who barely got a B-. He's a nice guy from what I observed but he moves too quickly over concepts and lets the accounting nerds set the pace of the class.
This class is quite difficult and the professor is about as useless as they come. He seems to derive pleasure from students struggling to comprehend his material. Very aggressive in answering questions in class. Avoid if at all possible.
honestly this class isnt as bad as people say. Yea, it takes hard work but prof is willing to help. if you read the book and keep up with the assign then youll be fine. im not very good in accounting, worked hard, and past with a B. U cant slack off but u really cant in any accg 202 class. office hours r good to go to.
The teacher has an unfair reputation. He's actually a good teacher and willing to help when needed. You get a notecard for EVERY quiz and the WHOLE large blue book inside cover cheat sheet for all the exams. 3 exams overall, no final exam. Use office hours, even if it's just to ask a minor question.
Difficult class, great teacher. Always willing to help in office hours and before tests. Quiz every week, test about once a month. Just follow with notes, do ALL the homework and you'll do fine. If I studied right, coulda got an A, but I kinda slacked and got a B.
He only teach 80% of the exam. Where is the other 20%? I don't know!!! And the exam is kind of hard, so if you can get 80% what he told during the class, you can get 64% for your exam, which you might get an "C" or even lower... The way he taught is not so fun. He is not hlepful, too.
great teacher just go to class and youll get it. do the assignments to study for exams. no need for the book i didnt even buy it and i got an A.
DO NOT TAKE! this is the hardest lower division class EVER! i studied for 20 hrs and A+ Review for every test, and i got a D. he doesnt help at all. i wish i never took his class. i've never had such a horrible teacher. the quizzes (every thurs) are so hard and the exams are 10x harder than that. good luck if u stay in his class
worst professor ever! His lectures make sense and so does the homework but I failed each quiz (weekly) and every midterm (3 of them) He isn't very helpful when you have questions and doesn't really care whether or not you understand or are doing well. He also has NO curve....DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
I would not recommend this professor. He has 2 midterms and a final, also quizzes every Thursday. If you fall behind for even a week, you will have a very hard time catching up. Not very lenient on grades, and does not the material clearly. I felt like the quizzes and homework had nothing at all to do with the lecture.
This is the hardest class i have ever taken. I was so close to failing, ive never gotten any grade below a B, and this class was my first C. His grading structure is favorable, thats why i passed but for a non accounting major, your screwed.if u get stuck in this class, read the book, do the quizzes and review them after you fail them. A+ review
very good professor. Explains everything thoroughly in class so if you REALLY want to do well, all you have to do is pay attention. Most of these people who say there is a problem with the prof got to realize accounting is not easy and so far because I listen in class I have an A.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! He is soo HARD to understand. I have never felt so dumb in my life. I studied for days before the tests, read the book and went to A+ and still barely passed with a C. It was terrible but you have no choice so good luck A+ will save you!!!
go to A plus!!!!
Barely went to the lecture and small section. Failed every test, and still got a C. Dipset all day.
Worst professor ever! Never been happier in my life to squeak by with a C. I was literally jumping up and down because I didn't have to take this class again.
By far the hardest teacher I have had at state. If it weren't for my small lecture teacher I probably would not have learned a thing. Go to A plus review because it really helps to clarify everything. A plus is the only reason I actually learned ANYTHING about accounting.
Horrible. Tried my hardest and got a c . If you can avoid taking him then you should
WORST CLASS EVER! I had a 3.7 GPA before this class and got a C and i have never worked or studied so hard. good luck youll need it with this guy
Terrible teacher. Knows what he is talking about, but can't relay that to students. So confusing. If not for my TA, i wouldn't have passed. He laughs when no one gets clicker points right, and doesn't explain them after. Tests were so hard. about 30 M/C and 4 short answer. Avoid him at all costs, but if you must, Get a fine line pen for a notecard
There is nothing wrong with Grudnitski. This was a good class and I learned a lot. If you want to be successful you must go to lecture and read the book. Accounting courses are not easy, but this class was easier than the same class I took at Mesa College (Hours of written homework everyday)! All of the whiners in the other posts got off easy!
GAH! horrible class. everyone fails and one huge curve at the end. Impossible to do well. Went to all a plus reviews and still got a c! try to avoid if u can!! just a warning
Everyone says he is a bad teacher, but he is not that bad. The subject is really hard, so you have to study your butt off. The TA's for the class really determine how well you do in the class. Large lecture is pointless, read the textbook COVER TO COVER and do practice problems. Class is curved at the end, it was 10% for my class.
Acct 201 is HARD. he does an alright job teaching it but there is A LOT of info. The book is ESSENTIAL for success. I went to A+ review and i benefited mostly from the first.. as soon as ACCT clicks u'll do fine, it doesnt click for many. attend all lectures for clicker points. if u are a good student u can get an A, but it takes a lot of effort.
Grudnitski is not hard at all. Read the chapter before lecture, go to lecture for the clicker points, go to section, do the homework(it's only available over weekends which sucks) and go to A+. It's simple. I earned an A my first time taking it. I highly suggest A+ for this class though.
RUN RUN RUN, if you make it out of this class alive everyone else will be freaking out during Acct 321 and youll be like "whats the problem at least its not Grudnitski"
I'm going to take my 2nd test today and I think I am going to fail. His test are so hard. I got a 51/100 on my first test:(((((((((((I feel so sad. I never failed a class in my life:( I might have to take this class again!! Oh bummer!!!
I would NEVER recommend him to anyone taking classes at San Diego State.
This guy was a horrible professor that did not give any redeeming qualities in regards to accounting. Dont bother going to lecture you wont learn anything. Go to A+ and you will do fine.
DO NOT TAKE AT STATE, we need to show the school that the way they have set up this class/chosen this professor is destroying kids, average test scores are in the 50s, and until state starts to lose money off of them, they aren't going to change it. Start the revolution don't take this ridiculous LOWER division class.
Class is alright. It takes a little bit of work to do well in this course. Must read the chapter before going to large lecture in order to understand material. Go to class, read the chapters, go to A+ for the tests, and put in a little bit of effort and there should be no reason not to get at least a B. Every1 else on here that is whining is weak
Worst professor you will ever have. Take at a junior college. But if you must take it here, go to A+ Review. Wanted to be an accountant before this class and he ruined it for me. Impossible tests and pointless weekly quizzes and clicker questions. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Hard class. You can read the chapters, do homework, and answer clicker questions all you want but it won't help. Good thing I'm not interested in acctg, this class would put me into deep depression. I thought things would be different for me, they weren't. You can make it through as long as you try, ie do all the work you can.
HARD class, lets face it most of us HAVE to take it so here are some tips: 1)Read the chapter before you go to lecture, TRUST ME 2)STUDY the chapter before section because you will be quizzed EVERY TIME 3)A+ is a must for this class, his test are ridiculously impossible 4) For exams, study the quizzes you took in section, posted on BB. GOOD LUCK!
Honestly speaking, this is not a hard class. The professor is not great so teach yourself. If you're smart and get the hang of the material weekly, then it's a walk in the park. I always got in the 90s and I couldn't understand when students complain. It is just that this course needs more than average study time
HARD CLASS, never learned anything out of lecture. If you choose to take it with this guy, be ready to spend 65$ for every test for A+ review.(ACCT 201)
like everyone said, take it at community college. lecture is pretty useless except for clicker points, hw helps your grade a little so make sure you do it, and quizzes are HARD. i've never felt the need to go to A+ for any other class, but i went to it for all three exams AND got extra tutoring, i'm pretty sure i wouldn't have passed otherwise.
Terrible prof. He doesn't teach you anything but rather tells it to you. Go to A+ review. He does allow you to have a notecard with you during the test AND the class is really curved at the end. 55% is a C from what I recall. You have to take him as a business major, so brace yourself.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! but if you are bestowed with the misfortune of having his lecture, just don't go. Or go. Doesn't matter at all. Clicker points hardly count for anything anyways. GO TO A+ to survive!
One word...sucks. Its like he thinks you already know the subject and is just reminding you. His examples are without explanation and if you happen to be in his AM class....good luck staying awake. Consider yourself EXTREMELY motivated if you go to even half the lectures. I wish I would have taken this class at a community college.
RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK!!!!! IF YOU CAN AVOID TAKING THIS CLASS PLEASE DO!!! I have a 3.8 GPA and this guy made it impossible to maintain that. He seems like he would make a great personal accountant, but as a teacher, for lack of a better word sucks.
Bad class, due to it's structure. His lectures are useless, and discussion section with the TA's are rigorous. You just do group work for a grade and take a quiz that you'll usually fail. Tests are worth most of your grade, quizzes, clicker points, and group work are minimal. You study a lot, but you will probably get a C even if you put in hours.
I don't know what's wrong with everyone! This is not the class to take if you want an easy A. If thats what you want, waste your time at a CC. If you do what you are told, you will get at least a C. If you are lazy, you will fail. PERIOD. Clicker, HW, quizzes and exercises might be a small percentage individually, but together they are 25%.
After taking the class, all I can say is that it's not as bad as people say it is. Its a difficult class but if you put in the effort you will get a good grade. For me the key was to read the chapter before going to lecture. I didnt have to go to the A+ review sessions tio get an A.
Professor Grudnitski isn't that bad, but you basically have to read the textbook and teach yourself. Luckily we had an amazing TA which got our class through this course, but you really have to read the text to do well.
Gary is not a bad prof, its annoying 2 see that every1 complains about his class when those people are just looking for an easy class.it is college and you have to put in work to get something out of it. hes the only teacher for Acct201 so,you have to take him, which means basically all the business majors have to take him.take him if u want to learn
This class made me and all my friends change majors.
Professor's lecture section presents a lot of information, but said information is presented far too quickly to be of much use on its own. I had to refer to the textbook after every class to be able to understand anything presented in the class. Also the test times are brutal to say the least. My section had our tests at 8 o'clock on Saturdays.
Gary isn't that bad of a professor, he just gives you the information and expects you to be able to learn on your own a little bit. This being said his tests are hard but the class is curved so dont worry too much about that.
The class almost sets you up to make it harder on you - it's Thrusday nights at 7pm, tests are on saturday mornings, and he teaches in way too bigof a lecture class. He isn't helpful. For this type of class, someone needs to be more understand and he is not. However, accounting just sucks in general so hopefully you get a good TA to help you out.
Garys class is pretty boring. He reads directly from the ppt, which is directly from the book.. I could just read the information on my own but attendance is required because we get points for "PE" questions. It's a hard class, so hope you get a good TA cause he's the only professor for it... He does have a quirkiness about him that can be funny.
Gary is monotonous. His class is mind-numbing. His style is wearisome. Move on.
Kinda bland, needs to really help students think through the processes more. Hard to ask questions and get a solid answer.
He gets most of his Poll Everywhere questions from the textbook so make sure you read the chapter. The powerpoints help a lot but his lectures and examples don't help. Take advantage of having a TA because that is the only chance you have in getting help in the class.
I like this professor. He teaches very clearly and I can understand easily through his lecture. Accounting is not easy, but he can teach that in a easy way. Really good
I didn't attend the second half of the semester mostly because what was on his powerpoints was in the book. you really need to read for this class. What really matters is your TA, DJ BERNIE is the best!!
I think this is the hardest class I've taken at state so far and the first that I have not done so well. He doesn't really teach and there is no point in going to his lectures except for the Poll Everywhere questions. My TA wasn't that helpful either.
The only advice I will give you is if you can, take this with another professor. Last semester he was the only 201 prof. He has an awful grading system. I know some people who had Ds before the curve and ended up with an As in the class. I, on the other hand, had a C before the curve and a C after. Avoid at all costs.
After spending at least 3-5 hours a week studying for this class, doing practice problems, doing homework, and praying to the curve I still didn't pass. Since I didn't do too well on the exams I attended office hours many times and he was condescending and not helpful. This class is much more difficult that it needs to be. Grading is subjective.
Don't waste your $ on A+ Review it's a joke. This class is hard and the professor gets a bad rap for that. You have to actually read the text book and attempt to answer all the question on the pearsonmylab.I spent about tens hour per lecture hour studying and pulled a C for the summer class. This class takes work, its like learning a new language!
This professor is the worst professor I've ever encountered. He is unhelpful, uninteresting, and completely ridiculous in his grading. If you can DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HIM. Biggest mistake yet.
absolute worst professor ever. take at community college. avoid at all costs. i learned absolutely nothing. i learned everything (which wasn't much) from the book.
He is obviously just getting burnt out. Just suck it up and try your hardest. It is possible to pass without A+ Review. (There is a huge curve.) It is a struggle, but just go to your TA for help (they are there for it). I made appointments with my TA and he helped me understand the material in order to at least pass. Oh and open the book!
Just to clarify, this class has no curve, but a C is anywhere between a 60%-79%. Professor and TAs are unhelpful and don't actually teach anything.
Key: Actually UNDERSTAND the material. Understand the relations between ideas and concepts stated in the book/PPT slides. Then PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE exercises and multiple choice questions. Reading the book all night the night before the exam won't magically make you understand everything that will be tested on it.
Very dry subjct. Lectures go over things on the ppt posted on BB. Makes u do PollEverywhere ?s, so u have to go to class. Every1 knows acctg is hard & Garyis useless but try to actually read & understand ppts he gives u. Unless u plan on wasting ur $$ on A+ to do well u have to read & practice stuff from Lab class.
Those that say this class is hard are not lying- but it isn't Professor Grudnitski. This course is difficult, but that is because the material is difficult. You must spend time studying and take advantage of the TA's that are provided as they are very helpful if you give effort. Getting a good grade is entirely possible, but you must work for it.
dont worry, youll pass and get a C, but good luck getting anything else. Set up of class is backwards. small section should be teaching, large section should be testing but of course they do it opposite and it screws you over. A+ is the only hope
This guy is not helpful at all and doesn't know how to structure his class to help his students. The material is pretty hard itself, but the way he has his class structured and his uselessness just makes the class that much harder. He just reads the material off the power points and doesn't teach the material so you have to teach it to yourself.
The material you learn is NOT hard, if you have the correct person teaching it. I cannot believe SDSU actually lets this man teach because ironically he helps no one further their knowledge. I got a B, purely from outside help. The way this class is structured is horrid.
Avoid him at all costs! Worst class/spent all my $ at A+ and still only got a C! Go to the community college and take accounting if you can!
Avoid this teacher. His teaching style made it nearly impossible to understand anything. You have to teach yourself the whole course and are expected to know the entire book for the exams. A very hard class to pass.
This Professor was excellent. He teaches the material in a manner which engages you into his lecture and the material. It was not the easiest class, but I am amazed at all of the bad reviews for him because I received perfect scores on all of the exams, received an A+ in the class, and would definitely choose this Professor again.
This class is super hard but not horrible, I guess. To get at least B in this class, actually UNDERSTAND the material. also, cutting line for C is 60% so, it's not too bad. Just study and you'll pass.
The class is useless but unfortunately he's the only one that teaches it. 60% is a C but getting any thing other than that is difficult unless you're really good at accounting.
I love this class!! Gary is such a great teacher; I would recommend to any incoming students!
literally the worst class i have taken at state. the T.A.'s aren't allowed to help us at session breakout, and no explanation or clarity was ever given.
He was the worst teacher I have ever had throughout my education. He goes through the large lecture slides so fast, does a horrible job explaining them, and is really unhelpful. His tests are extremely difficult, he WILL take points off for every small detail I had a great T.A. for my small class, he taught me everything I learned. STAY AWAY.
Despite all the bad reviews for Grudnitski, this class wasn't horrible. If you read the chapters before class, the lectures are actually helpful and make sense. Passing this class is a no brainer as long as you read.
I took ACCTG 201 + 202 with him. Honestly, ACCTG 201 is okay as long as you read. The main problem with Grudnitzki is the way he asks the questions. AVOID Andy for TA. I got C in 201. Meanwhile, for 202, he is way much better. I got a B for 202.
Not only is he completely terrible at teaching, he is inconsiderate and unsympathetic toward the students he teaches. He could care less about how we are doing, which is shown in that he doesn't actually teach. It is not surprising that this is the most failed class here. I've never had a worse teacher before and the situation is disappointing.
Horrible. Confusing lecture every week and small section where you take a group and individual quiz. No teaching is going on and everything is graded, participation points and hw included. No other option for accounting so you just have to pray that you can pass.
This subject is a hard subject to begin with and Grudnitski does NOT help make it easier whatsoever. The only reason I got a B was from private tutoring, A+ Review, and lot's of practice! My TA was pretty useless as well. Take it elsewhere!!!
Accounting sucks, and Gary didn't make it any easier. Good luck to all of you who have to take his class!
Very difficult class!!! Gary's lectures are very dry yet fast paced. Go to A+ review if you want any chance at passing, they saved my grade. Go to lecture cause there are clicker points and there are quizes everyweek in the lab section. Be prepared to teach yourself!
Class sucks but is mandatory. put in effort and you'll pass with a C, don't expect much more
His class is very easy. The exams could not have been any easier. His lectures are actually quite helpful if you take the time to read the material beforehand. Overall, this class was an easy A.
Hard class, and a huge curve (58% was the cut off for a C this semester). It is nearly impossible to find a good teacher, since this is a tough subject. I feel like I didn't learn much.
Professor Grudnitski is a good professor.Acct201 is not the toughest class.Yes it does require to do some work, however it's really manageable.Read/skim over the chapter before the lecture. He does explain things well if you seat upfrontand listen.Do all the homework in time.I didn't like how the quizzes were given but they are only 5%.Normal class!
Quizzes are impossible and the tests are hard too. Lecture is boring and somehow I got a B. Good luck.
Worst professor hands down I have has at SDSU. Does not care at all about his students and is not helpful at all if you ask questions. TA's are pretty useless too. Didn't learn anything in this class. Failed every test and still passed the class...... AVOID THIS PROFESSOR
Big lecture, boring, not clear and he is not helpful at all. TA's don't do a very good job at explaining either. TESTS AND QUIZZES harrrdddd! Passed the class getting 78% 37% and 42% on midterms and the final. Do all the homework, it helps your grade! GOODLUCK!
Gary is a very clear, organized, and helpful guy. Accounting, to begin with, is a difficult subject. I think he did a pretty good job in being clear. What I didn't like was the small sections because the T.A.s are absolutely useless and my specific T.A. was disrespectful would bluntly tell me he could not help.
He tries to make things as easy/clear as possible. There are PE points for going to class, but he drops 2 lowest. Drops lowest hw. Drops 2 lowest quiz scores (which are DIFFICULT!) All you need to do is STUDY the old quizzes & group exercises and getting a B shouldn't be that difficult. There is a generous curve. This class wasn't too bad.
