Very clever, but not very creative. He wrote his own book, so he definetly knows the material. Good teacher overall.
good sense of humor and very helpful. he gets annoyed if there's no class participation. Tests are VERY easy; he tells you EXACTLY what will be on them!
He is hilarious, he is all about the students. He is a nice guy. The material is not very fun alone, but with him teaching it, sometimes its a blast... Hot indeed, I am a boy and I think he is sexy! Ya herd!
Very knowledgable, but his lectures are often boring. He refers to his book. He has a sense of humor. He tells you whats on the test but is a bit picky on grading answers.
the lectures are WAY boring. the material he says will be on the test isnt, and its all around a lame class.
this dude is pretty funny. he sounds like he naggs sometimes when he lectures but its cool. he makes jokes about drugs, which i thought was a great testament to his humor. anyone who cant get a decent grade in this class is a lazy moron.
boring class, i mean super boring. went to class everyday and failed it
Jason is very enthusiastic about his subject. Great humour and personality. Lectures are very easy to follow with neat notes and a student handbook he wrote. He gives out lots of easy homework and in-class exercises that replicates the exams questions. I didn't even have to do any reading, just did exercises in class.
Professor Jason is very funny. I was always entertained in his class. He explains everything thoroughly and makes a good effort to make sure everyone understands the topic.
Lectures are a little boring only because there is very little class participation available. Intelligent and clever examples used to aid student understanding. Easy HW assignments aimed to keep student up on the reading. Midterm and Final-easy. Good class.
Great teacher, with great humor. His tests may be a bit long, but are generally very easy. He gives homework, but doesn't collect all of them (and usually will tell you if he is going to collect a homework). Great guy.
Great guy; funny, nice, welcoming. His clarity in lectures is his best quality. Some aspects of the course are dry but he does his best to make them as interesting as possible.
holy crap i love this guy! this class was pretty easy, but i also learned a lot! he's extremely down-to-earth, super helpful, and humorous! There were 3 short answer exams... kinda hard to finish the first one on time, but the 2nd exam and final were much easier! he curves too! yep, i'd take this guy again!!!
Just read and take notes on the essays you read at home, if you dont understand it after reading it, he will explain in great clarity at the next class meeting.
This guy is a great teacher! He is very interesting and makes the subject interesting. his tests are not to bad either. take very good notes ( it's easiest when you look at the review questions in the SSG just anwser the questions as he is lecturing) Overall the class is pretty easy...TAKE HIM!
worst teacher ever.....he thinks hes funny but he is absolutely wack....the tests are pathetic and he says that he doesnt make the tests, the computer does...i busted by butt off and got a c....if you like doing work, then take him, but its not an easy grade....DONT TAKE!!!....plus he thinks hes cool cause he wrote his own book.
must be very devoted to the class. good lectures, but makes you do lots of HW, attend class everday. tests are decent if you study.
only take this professor if you want to do work. attendance is taken every day and he assigns homework. he is very helpful but the subject is very boring.
This guy rates as one of the WORST teachers i have ever taken. The biggest mistake if you take him, i dont care if he is the last available one teacher wait until next semester. DO NOT TAKE HIM! MAKES YOU BUY EX****IVE BOOK, HE WROTE THE BOOK AND IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE JUST LIKE HOW HE DOESNT MAKE SENSE. DOESNT KNOW HOW TO WRITE CLEARLY.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Not only is the class hard, but he teaches as if you've taken a class in philosophy before. His tests are hard. He assigns a lot of homework. He thinks he has a sense of humor and always claims his class is so easy. I say drop the class immediately if you get him.
If you get Gary Jason be ready for a boring class. He takes attendence every day. He gives you one midterm and one final that is 50% of your grade. He claims he wants all of his students to pass and do well but will give you whatever you earn even if you .5% off from a passing. He makes you buy his book which is cost pretty pricy. Take someone else
His class is not that hard. You have HW (sometimes its graded), a project, a midterm, and a final. He uses humor to make what is otherwise a very boring class more interesting. Here's an example of his humor: He once stated "I've never actually poured a glass of bordeaux for a mouse" when talking about arguments.
Great teacher! I was so scared to take this cl**** but he made it interesting. There was a lot of work, but I learned so much. One of the best teachers at CSUF. Grades fast, and curves REALLY FAIR! The other reviews are just from lazy people. Take his cl**** if you like a challenge. I absolutely loved him! Extermely Intelligent and I got an A
Jason is such a great teacher. His class is not that boring. I know it's philosophy, but he tries his best to make it interesting. Attendance is required, but being there helps alot. His midterms are easy, they are all written and he gives you the questions that he's going to ask you beforehand. So that all you have to do is study it. take him!
Easy homework, hard tests. Homework not worth much compared to tests. Two tests and few people rarely finish. He curves tests but curve varies. It;s based on highest grade in class. I got B, but would have gotten A with the other class' curve. You really need the book. I wouldn't want to retake him, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I did.
Love his class! Grade based on homeword and tests and one extremely easy project. Fair curves on test. Clear and easy to understand, always willing to review. Notes based on his book so easy to follow. Has sense of humor to make class interesting. Will do do great if not lazy. Great tips. Must Take!
read the book, it's easy reading and it's background info. that helps you get participation points, just ask anything. attendance is mandatory, and often you'll wish you brought a pillow, but there are some really great lectures thrown in there. let's you know exactly what he is testing on. and he's a snazzy dresser!
Prof. Jason takes attendance, but gives points for being in class as part of the participation grade. There is one project, which is an easy A. He is always early and answers questions, and gives points for asking them. The material is easy and he explains it so anyone can understand it. People who hate him probably got D's or F's. I got an easy A.
Such a great class. He is able it connect philosophy of ethics into real world examples. Grades fairly on his three exams, and is easy if you follow along and go to all the classes (which are counted). I really loved this class and I hope I can take another class with the same prof again. I would highly recommend for business/prof ethics.
I loved this class! Easy homework, easy everything. I got a C only because I was lazy. I would strongly recommend this teacher!
I absolutely loved this class! He's a great teacher pretty funny so he makes it easy to learn. All around great guy and very helpful. He wrote the book so there's no way to bs your way around it. If you pay attention in class you will be just fine. I got very easy A.
Worst teacher EVER!
excellent teacher, very helpful and considerate. The material was difficult to understand, but just ask him and he'll be more than happy to help you out. Would recommend, good teacher.
This class is easy as long as you pay attention. He's very respectful of the student teacher relationship. He really impressed me on the first day of school when, in his syllabus, he not only had a list of standards for me, but also a list of standards for himself. The only thing that bothered me about him is that he moved really slowly.
He was a good professor. He can be funny at times, he's really patient and helpful. His class is a little boring at times but try to pay attention because it gets confusing at times. Just do your homework and keep up with the lectures in class and it should be an easy A.
PHIL 312 - Bus/Professional Ethics. 3 essay midterms make up 90% of class, 5% participation, and 5% attendance. No homework really, bring large spiral book of article that we discuss in class. Relatively fair grading on tests. Great teacher, very funny!
This class is easy. Show up and pay attention. The professor is great and very helpful. Easy A.
He was okay to say the least, you have to go to class his tests are all written. He is an okay teacher he lectures on things that arent even on the test. Just know the fallacies and your good otherwise you will fail the class
Amazing teacher, I have nothing but respect for him. Well spoken, well dressed, very knowledgeable, and teaches very well. Good real world examples and experience.
very hilarious. He really knows his material and makes sure that students grasp the idea. Beware, he is a salesperson at heart. But taking this course is so worth it. There is no class meeting that I did not laugh. Oh most enjoyable one... take him. seriously.
he is a fun teacher really easy to learn from.. funny and entertaining class.
He rocks my socks. I know right. But he is really fun and you get to learn AND laugh (thats not very common) .
Knows what he's talking about, tries to keep lectures somewhat entertaining. Attendence is mandatory and part of your grade as is participation. You get one term paper and 3 small (easy) papers. Tests are straight forward and he gives you the review questions beforehand. I recommend him.
This was a great class. He is very, very clear as to what is going to be on the tests. He gives review questions, all of which are covered in lecture, and the test questions are word for word from the review. If you pay attention this class is very easy. Don't really need the textbook, but you need the workbook he wrote.
A very good teacher. Teaches a incredibly dull subject and makes it funny and interesting. Attendance mandatory and tests can be hard, but overall I'd reccomend him.
Awesome teacher, easy class if you study moderately. Funny/interesting teacher with little homework all semester. He tells you exactly what to do and exactly what he expects.
Wow, what a guy! Had lunch with him recently. Anyway, really enjoyed the class. Content isn't ridiculously inspiring but he makes it enjoyable and injects an amazing sense of humor to it if your smart enough to catch. He wrote the book himself and has a study guide that outlines chapters and tests. Responds to e-mails and makes himself available.
As long as you study for the 3 exams you will pass.
My favorite professor EVER. He basically tells you what is on the exam. The study guide is pretty much the exam so USE IT. Never had another professor that was so clear on what he expected from you. You can only fail if you put in NO EFFORT. Seriously, TAKE HIM!
He's very entertaining! Makes such a dull subject so interesting and cracks jokes in the middle of his lectures. I wish I could take this professor again for any other Philosophy classes he teaches. Just study the questions from the anthology book he wrote and you will do fine.
He is a nice guy. He is funny. But he isn't fair. Doesn't bump your grade even if you're a point away. His test are extremely tricky. He does have a questions in the book, and he does answers questions in class, but they're off the top of his head. If you have a full load don't take this class.
Pretty funny guy, helpful, but difficult tests because the subject can be dull and wordy, but if you memorize the review questions and be sure to memorize the labels, then you should do well.
Funny professor. He tries to keep the subject as interesting as possible. I would definitely recommend him.
great teacher. clearly great lecturer. 6 short paper (easy to do) out which he picks 3. One term paper. 3 test gives you the questions (answers the question in class.) BUT tests are very tricky. there are 3 similar answers pick the best one. attendance is mandatory. one missed class you lose 6 points. OVERALL RECOMMENDED TO TAKE
Super easy class. He's super funny keeps you entertained. I barley had to give any effort and got an A-.
He is very helpful and really wants you to succeed. The course was pretty dull but he made it interesting. Take him!
hes a nice and funny guy dont get me wrong but hes boring gives out a study guide and seems like the test matches it but read carefully because they are all reworded to get u. i went to every class and participated thought i was going to get a B to A- ended up with a C+ :[ because of his trick questions
Great teacher. A smart guy who makes a boring subject interesting. Study guides pretty much matched the tests. If you show up and study as you go along you will be fine. Pretty funny guy too.
Extremely dull and boring. He is very rude if you ask him questions and he is very PICKY. If you are trying to finish the required GE, take psychology 110 or something else...
I thought critical thinking was common sense that everyone had but my class proves I could be wrong. He does a pretty good job teaching and clearly knows what he's talking about but sometimes his examples aren't the best.
Avoid. The class semester is almost over and I can't wait for it to end. His class is boring and pointless. This class is not common sense, it's more opinionated. He is very arrogant and picky. Sorry mr. jason, this was the worst class I've taken in my 2 years at CSUF.
Cool guy. The subject could be dull but he does his best to make it fun by giving some interesting funny relatable examples. Do yourself a favor and do exactly what he tells you to do if you want to pass his class. Nice classy guy. Easy B
Easiest class I've taken at Fullerton by far. I haven't studied much and I have an easy A in the class. No possibility to fail or even struggle at all if you have basic common sense.
It was an alright class. The subject matter is boring. He is a nice guy but I regret taking this course because it was too much work for a GE class and his grading scale is just a hassle. Alot of memorization so if you are into being a memorization zombie, this class is for you. Easy C or B if you put in 75% effort.
Gary is Awsome! Very funny guy at times. 1 term paper. 3 essays. miderm. 1 final. Get the anthology. that is our study guide.
Its not a normal philosophy class. Only has his opinion and another author. His answers to review questions are vague, he can give you the generic answer or an indepth answer and expect you to know the indepth answer for the test. Avoid him if you can
Very helpful and when it comes to grading, he is very fair.
Gary Jason is a nice professor. He goes over the concepts quite fast, however for the exams there are already 70 pre-made questions for each, which would be your study guide, the only thing you have to do is find the answer from the book and study. There are tree short papers and a term paper at least 5 pages.
Gary is funny and very knowledgeable. 3 1-2pg papers, 1 5pg paper, 3 tests. Anthology has all review ?'s. Takes attendance. Grades very fast. Helpful. I was hesitant on taking a philosophy course but got an A!
Very easy class. He does his best to try and make it interesting. He's very willing to help if you ask, he likes if you participate. He's lenient when it comes to test answers and it's weighted.
he is a really easy teacher just do do papers and u will pass
Very good prof. I will take next phil class with him.
It seems that it is hard to find unambiguous teachers at business school. Gary is the only professor I respect. The reason is simple, He respects you. To be honest I am angry that I am paying this much for tuition and not all the teachers are like Gary. He is a funny guy, is fair and LETS YOU KNOW WHAT HE EXPECTS. Hard tests, not impossible.
This class is extremely boring and he tells you that the tests are pretty easy, but in reality they're not as easy as he claims. If you like memorizing things and falling asleep in class then take this class
Interesting lectures and he throws a few jokes in. When studying for tests make sure you do the study guide, the same exact questions are on the test (3). Professor Jason is very helpful, but don't get discouraged if he doesn't sound like the warmest of people. When it comes to the papers (4) USE FOOTNOTES. Attendance affects your grade!
Tough but a good professor.
At first, I thought business ethics class would be hard, but it's not. Buy ONLY the Anthology, the Desjardin book isn't really needed. Anthology has all the answers to the study guides. Tough grader for papers. Participation is toughcompetitive. Couldn't tell if teacher is sarcastic or not. But he's warm and funny guy.
Grades attendance and requires a minimum of 10 questions per student during class. ONLY BUY HIS BOOK, the anthology, it has all the exam questions. Don't buy Desjardan or whatever, it stayed in my closet all semester.
I loved this class. He treats the students with respect and really wants them to understand. There is some homework but it only takes like 10 mins. If you pay attention and participate the class should be pretty easy. There are 3 test, which are curved, and a project. Definitely recommend, he is entertaining and helpful.
Honestly, this class my favorite class out of all the classes I've ever taken at CSUF! It is a genuinely fun class. If you are generally critically adept, you will BREEZE through this class. I got an A+ in this class and had a blast each class period. If you struggle with this class, you may need to develop your sense of critical thinking.
Definitely one of my favorite CSUF professors so far. This was my first philosophy class and Dr. Jason's sense of humor made it much more interesting to learn. It is a very easy class, just make sure to study the review questions for his tests. Barely any homework. 2 tests, participation, and a simple project make up your grade.
This was a very good class. Jason kept it interesting and funny while covering the subject material. He has 2 books that are necessary for the class ( Main Text and Student Study Guide). Memorize the review questions and this will help you out on the exams. Not much homework fallacies, sales tricks, and political tricks are covered/covered on test
Best professor I have ever had! He makes class exciting and is always willing to help you out. Attendance matters but trust me you won't mind going to his class. Highly recommend!!
This is the most different class I have ever taken and it's one of those you either get it or you don't. He's a really great professor though and super helpful. Participation and attendance are mandatory and the books are required and used daily. Gives 1 or 2 hw assignments and three tests and 1 easy project.
I love prof Jason. He's the best prof I have taken so far. He's really funny, and I love listening to his lectures because the things he says make so much sense. Now I feel like I understand so much more about the word around me. I loved this class so much, I would take his class again if I ever get a chance to. TAKE HIS CLASS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT
no reason you can't pass! Tests are exactly what he lists on the study guide, will answer study guide qestions before class so be early! No surprises throughout the course. Assigns hw do it for your own good of practice for the test, but he won't collect much. 3 tests 1 easy project. Lecture material dry but his humor makes up for it
probably one of the best teachers I've had. you have to buy the book he wrote himself but its all the notes, a couple fill in the blank. show up to class- easy points to earn and to lose if you don't show. study guide exactly whats on the test. goes over everything. very blunt/ straightforward and to the point. no reason not to pass
I had no exception to like this class but I loved it! Professor Jason is the author of the books you're required to get for the class and explains his material effectively. He gives you the layout of the test and as long as you study it, you will pass. The material isn't hard as long as you attend and pay attention. Easy A!
Not mandatory
Buy the Anthology. All test questions are included. Must attend class for fill in notes. Fair teacher. Participation counts, and he reminds students they still need points. Knows his material. Tough grader for papers. Definitely able to pass with effort.
This guy is a legend. You only need the textbook he wrote. 3 1 pg papers, 1 5 pg paper, and 3 tests. The class is incredibly simple and straightforward. Participation counts, but you only need to ask 10 questions during the semester, and he helps you out if you're struggling. He curves the tests so you just need to worry about the papers.
I am going to miss having his class and hearing about "Baldie's Burgers". He's a great professor that is always willing to help. Definitely take him! AND he replies to emails so quickly!!!
3 exams, 3 short papers, 1 term paper, participation, & attendance goes towards your grade. Don't need to get the book by Desjardins, just the anthology. Class is very passable. Jason has his own website for you to check his grades, but it does not show the overall score of your grade just separate scores of each assignment. Overall okay class.
Such an amazing professor. The homework he assigns is very helpful & isn't super time-consuming. He makes you buy 2 books (both of which he wrote) but they aren't super expensive and they will help you a lot because his lectures are based on them. He's very funny and nice. Be sure to participate for a good grade. There will be a lot of chances to.
Gary is a little hard to get used to, but is a pretty good professor! You have to buy two books due to the lectures revolving around them. There is homework, but it usually slows down halfway through the semester. The tests are easy, participation matters, and there is a project at the end of the semester that is graded on a pass/fail.
Very difficult to pay attention in class due to his monotone lectures, but when you do pay attention it's actually pretty interesting. He gives good examples for each topic and he writes his own material(student studyguide and critical thinking txtbk) so he knows how to teach it. Homework is online and given every class, not hard but easy to forget
Really enjoyed this class. I am a psychology major and just took this class as an elective and its probably my favorite class Ive taken. I learned so much and the way his class is structured makes it easy to study and learn the material. All professors should take note of his teaching style
Okay class
Simply amazing professor! You only need the anthology. He couldn't make this class any easier for you - all your exam questions are given and if you follow along with the lectures you will pick up the answers quickly. He is very easy to get in contact with and is very understanding and flexible. Three short papers, one term paper and three exams.
2 midterms and one final. need to buy his two textbooks to follow along in class and to study off of. as long as you go to class, listen to lectures, study from the student study guide, you will easily pass. there is participation but it's really easy to earn! prof jason is super chill and makes lectures interesting!
There are 2 Midterms, 1 Final Exam, 1 Project (which is so easy since you basically film yourself reading off an argumentative essay), and participation and homework. Homework slows down in the middle of the semester and participation is so easy. The exams are multiple choice and the study guide book you need gives exams breakdown which help a lot!
The best professor you will come across! He makes it very easy to obtain an A in his class. He shows up early and will answer any study guide questions you have (which he gives you in the book) so you will only need the anthology. Three short writings and a term paper on a topic of your choosing (with great feedback). He really wants you to excel!
This guy is amazing, but don't let that fool you into thinking this is a no-brainer kind of class. He grades very fairly and lets you ask any questions you want in order to be super well prepared for his tests. I would honestly take all of his classes if I could just sit there and enjoy his lectures. All the classes were thought-provoking and fun!
This class was so boring. The material is easy but class is really boring because he makes you buy his own book and reads off word per word during his lectures. There are two tests and a final, 6 short answers papers, no homework. He gives the questions for the test beforehand and answers them but the test is hard because the options are all same.
DONT take Phil120 with him. He makes you a total of 3 books. One of those books being one be published. You essentially are paying for his lectures and the review questions for his tests. If you dont buy his book youre not getting the lecture notes or his review questions. Its pretty ridiculous.
Very kind professor! He wants his students to pass and succeed in life. He has given many opportunities for us to get a higher grade, such as making up papers we didn't do. Participation graded, easy questions. Short papers are easy! Lectures are boring. Tests were hard for me, gives answers to review questions BUT the options are very difficult.
2 tests and a cumulative final (all MC) which are worth 65% of your grade. There are 3 short papers (easy 2 pages) and a term paper (4-6 pages). Lectures are interesting and he gives great examples. You have to buy his textbook (cheap) which has questions that you answer and use as a study guide. Overall, interesting and pretty easy if you study.
This guy is awesome. The class is as straight forward as possible. You have to buy his book and participate in class for some credit. Besides that, tests are easy and the class is great.
Really cool guy that wants his students to do well. The topics learned in class are pretty interesting, but his lectures can get boring sometimes. Participation was 10% of the grade. I never participated and I didn't turn in one of the six papers. Still ended with a B. Tests are straight forward, just study the review questions
Even though his lectures can get boring, the material is pretty interesting and he was passionate about it. There are 6 papers and I would suggest starting on those ASAP because the reading sections can be tough to follow. There are 3 tests based on review questions, my only advice is to study them because some multiple choice answers are similar.
Great professor! Can get boring if youre not interested, but he tries to make it good for everyone. 5 papers, but no hw other than that. Couple of tests that are open book. Attendance not mandatory as the lessons are recorded. Do good on the tests for a good grade. Funny guy and no annoying breakout rooms. Replies quickly to emails!
Even with online, this was a really good class. Participation during lecture is extra credit after you've participated enough times. He uses lots of examples for key concepts. Very funny. 2 midterms, 1 final, 1 argumentative short paper. He records and posts the lectures. Study how he says to study and you'll do fine on the HW and tests.
2 midterms, 1 final, 1 short argumentative paper. Participate in class for extra credit. Study how he tells you to study to do well on exams. Stay on top of the HW (short online quizzes). He teaches from a textbook he wrote specifically for this class and it has all the tools you'll need. Really funny, wish I could have taken this in-person.
Professor Jason is a cool professor. He is big on participation and all you have to do is just speak 10 times and you have a 100% in participation. He assigns 3 short papers, which are just questions that you answer on a separate doc (min 1.5 pages) and a term paper (min 5 pages). Tests are on canvas and no proctored tests!
He's got a quirky sense of humor and seemed like a laid-back kind of guy. Makes us use his books and his contents are kind of confusing. Make sure you listen to his lectures cuz that's the only way you're going to get a good grade on the exams.
This class was pretty straightforward, although sometimes the reading content that was for the papers was confusing. Communicating with other classmates for the paper is super helpful. The tests (including final and midterm) are all based on the review questions in the book necessary for the class (Anthology). Overall, a super good professor.
Prof Jason presents content in a very concise, methodical way. There is a clear path to success. There is a research paper to be written. Use flashcards/quizlet for best results on exams.
Their are 5 short term papers based on readings and gives about a week in advance which is nice but they are confusing readings i suggest getting it done early to ask him questions in class. Tests are confusing because of the wording but they are all based on the questions he has in the book so its all memorization.
Attendance and participation are mandatory. The homework is mostly quizzes that are there to help you with the final test. You will need to buy his books in order to understand the lectures. He is very passionate when it comes to his teaching and makes lectures enjoyable and fun. If you have any questions, he is there to answer any concerns.
He is very funny and is really caring. You just need to email him beforehand. In order to pass his test, you will need to buy his two books. These books are very beneficial and important in order to pass this class. He gives out participation points that are necessary to raise your grade and shares them fairly.
Dr. Jason was a good professor. He has a funny and caring personality, but his lectures sometimes were dry. There was a lot of homework, but it prepared you well for his tests. He tells you clearly what to expect on the tests and memorizes the review questions. All in all, tests make up most of your grade, so do well on the tests!
Class is basically a lecture but he's a funny guy and he gives several examples and explains thoroughly. If you have any questions MAKE SURE to ask them; participation is important and he's a nice guy who will answer you in class. His class is pretty easy if you keep up with the hw assignments and pay attention in class (mandatory attendance).
Absolutely the funniest professor I ever had and anyone who disagrees is just bad at the class
Cool teacher that makes lectures intresting. The course isn't that hard if you keep up just give it some effort. Weekly homework but has tutorials. 3 exams but gives good prep plus curve. Participation is required but not much and show up to class on time. Would def take again and no + or - scale. He's not out to fail you.
I absolutely loved taking critical thinking. The tests are tedious, but they're curved and if you just do the homework and listen in class, you will definitely to get a good grade. He's really good at explaining concepts, and taking notes helps a lot too. He's super funny too, and does a good job keeping everyone engaged.
Professor Jason is the perfect example of a "firm yet fair" class. The notebook you buy for the class not only has all the letcures in it, but also all the exam questions as well. It is just a matter of learning the answers from coming to class and then memorizing them.
He is really nice and the work is easy, we have a participation grade but you only need to answer a handful of times to get 100%, but you do have to buy his textbook.
The easiest class you will ever take. He goes of on tangents in lectures to talk about politics. The Homework is easy. The test are a little difficult if you don't study.
I love Gary class so much. Everything is plan and simply. He very funny and caring professor. His homework are not that difficult if you go over the tutorials he provides for you to prepare for the tests, you'll be good. His class environment is often times boring but fun cuz he cracks funny jokes as he teaches. And always ask questions! It counts!
He is kind of old, but he is a fun guy. He explains his examples well. If you read carefully, his examples are humourous
Probably one of the few classes that I actually learned good things from. Prof Jason writes his own textbook and exam and has very thorough study guides for his exams. He is very funny and kind despite his tough Grandpa look.
The textbooks he uses in class are the book he wrote and the student study guide that goes with it. He provides access to the student study guide through google doc but you do need to rent/buy his book. Take notes, go to class, and do all the homework and you'll do great. He provides tutorials for the homework and for the test to help prepare.
The professor is funny but his lectures could be boring. His tests aren't too difficult just make sure you study. The only annoying thing was the paper, it was easy but we had to submit it in four different ways (Canvas, Turnitin, in person, and asked for a video)
Does give out a decent amount of homework but gives you a whole week to do it. Plus gives you tutorials to help with the actual hw and you can use it to review before an exam. You do need to participate but only a couple of time to get full credit. Lectures can get a bit boring but he tells jokes to make it less boring. Is a good teacher overall.
Loved Dr. Jason's PHIL105 class! This is mostly a "learn it then apply it" class, and the tutorials are very helpful for when doing the homework. His lectures are sometimes boring but he tries to lighten them with jokes! Participation is VERY encouraged because it can give you points. Overall, Dr. Jason did a good job teaching this class!!! :)
Grade based on weekly homework (use the tutorials as practice since hw is only one attempt), attendance, participation, and three exams. Exams are curved. I personally found every lecture interesting, never boring. He's very funny and always relates concepts to real life. My favorite class this semester! Thank you Professor Jason
Gary was awesome. His class has a lot of little hw online quizzes, but his lectures are super helpful. He gives you a "study guide" that is basically all of his notes on a doc. And you just have to fill in the blanks during his lectures. Super thorough study guides for tests. Tests are cumulative. His is super funny and kept the class entertaining.
Most of the class is him lecturing, and participation is mandatory but you can collect points quickly and he doesn't mind questions or repeating something to better understand the concepts. Super funny and has resources to help students both in and out of class about various topics. Main key for his class is to use facts and logic with HW and tests
Prof Jason was amazing! His class consists mainly of lectures, so it can get dry at times but he likes to make jokes to break up all the material. Participation and attendance are required, but the points are very easy to get. The tests are just like the homework and tutorial questions, he gives you all materials needed to do well in the class.
Professor Jason's PHIL105 is an engaging class - his lectures are entertaining, and the assignments, while requiring effort, are manageable. The textbook is helpful, and Unstuck study proved useful for studying. Overall, a worthwhile course.
Professor Jason was a great teacher, funny guy. Lecture heavy however, the whole class he lectures the entire time. Participation, homework, and attendance mean little in this class. The large majority of your grade will be determined by your test scores (He grades on a curve). Overall good class and good teacher.
You won't pass without attending the lectures or doing the homework. He's very rude and does not care if you pass.
If you're an international student or English is not your first language, stay away from this class. There's too much homework and too much talking. You need to participate in class for points, and attendance is important. The quizzes are frequent, and the workload is overwhelming. If this class isn't mandatory, it's best to avoid it.
This is a very easy course. Attendance is mandatory and participation is graded but despite this, he is a very funny professor. Exam and Final are relatively easy if you just study the study guide he gives which is basically all the same questions in the text. I would definitely take this course again.
He's a good person, his exams are fair.
I recommend this professor. There are many many homework assignments due, maybe 50 throughout the semester. 2 midterms and 1 final, each worth 50 points. There is also a two page paper due at the end of the semester, but it was easy. Attendance and participation is graded and does affect your grade. He is a very kind, caring, passionate professor.
There are 3 quizzes the whole sem, homework due every week, everything is graded from canvas. lectures sometimes don't make sense, and he doesn't explain topics well but are important when studying. One big project due at the end of the semester. Attendance and participation is graded and is a decent part of your grade.
This is definitely a great course to take if you wanna knock out GEs! Attendance and participation will matter if you wanna maintain a high grade. Exams and finals are easy as long as you review textbook questions, HW, and tutorials (PLEASE make sure you do these before the homework first!!!). Lectures are long, but his humor makes it entertaining!
Interesting lectures just long very mid teacher overall jack of all trades I guess. Difficult class but manageable if you put in some effort.
Interesting class, but nothing special. Can't go wrong by taking it but it isn't as exciting as another Critical Thinking course may be.
One of the greatest instructors I've ever had. Hilarious. Absolutely amazing lectures and it is so easy to pay attention. Homework is fairly easy and genuinely helpful. Pay attention and you will have a good time. I was never bored or tired in this class. Great speaker that is amazing at keeping your attention. Has a textbook that is a bit pricey.
The class was very lecture heavy and could not keep my attention; really have to study the material to understand it. Participation matters but you just have to answer a question and get it correct about 5 times the entire class to receive full credit. There are 3 exams all multiple choice and pretty easy. Weekly homework but manageable
Gary is a great professor I didn't care for the class itself but he made it manageable. DO THE HOMEWORK the homework is key for passing the exams I have never really been the one to make flashcards and such but I did for this class. Biggest advice is pay attention in class, participate when you can I seriously helps.
Overall, this course was amazing. I would take this class again. His lectures are very informative and notes are provided in the course just need to fill in the blank. Excellent grading and very well taught lectures.
he is a funny guy and his lectures could be entertaining. there is a decent amount of hw but they really help you to do well on the tests. attendance & in-class participation are very important so i wouldnt recommend him if you cant commit to that; otherwise id say take him
Professor Gary is such a cool person but you won't really realize until halfway through the semester. You could honestly get by w/o purchasing his book, but it is useful to have when you need to look back on the notes. His lectures go by pretty quick, so pay attention! Participation and attendance are 100% graded. Exams can get tricky but simple :)
Professor Gary is the GOAT! By far the best instructor I have had in college so far, Prof. Gary's lectures were always entertaining; he and I have the same humor, so I found myself cracking up often- the rest of the class was a tough crowd- relax, have a laugh, and do yourself a favor and take Prof. Gary Jason. If you want to succeed, just listen.
Super understanding and his lectures are great. Sneaks in jokes when giving lectures and it honestly helps with remembering material. Overall nice guy. Would take him again!
Professor Gary Jason is one of the best professors at CSUF in my opinion- entertaining lectures, clear guidelines, quick responses. He's also hilarious- very respectable and intelligent individual.
A very cool and chill professor, admittedly his lectures can get pretty boring but he makes up for it with his humor. You get homework nearly every week but they're pretty easy if you actually pay attention, same goes for the exams which are 3 in total. 2 midterms and then the final. Just listen and fill out the guide he gives and you'll be fine.
Ended up dropping the class because of the sheer difficulty of the class, but to very little fault of the professor. Professor Jason was very funny, and was clearly fluent in his knowledge and tried his best to explain everything. Lots of at-home studying and practice is required, and its very time consuming, so be prepared. Be prepared to work.
Literally made you buy the textbook he made, and homework was just online quizzes. His lectures were so boring I could barely stay awake. There's two exams and one ge writing requirement, but like he never checked if you were cheating...
The class is lecture heavy and attendance is VERY important if you miss class your grade is affected drastically. His personal textbook is required by him but I did fine without it! Overall, it's an okay class. Only thing that was confusing is he infers subjects using examples of political events and if you're not into that you can find it boring.
HW is 15 q mc quizzes but a LOT per week. 3 exams, all 50 q mc that are exactly like the hw. Choices r very similar and confusing somehow all answers sound right. But there are practice problems (tutorials). Must buy his textbook, he does practice problems from them. Others who have taken the same course aren't learning the same things I am. Curves
