He talks like JR the wrestling announcer and he is okay at teaching. Just remember this one thing, no matter what anyone tells you there are no make up quizzes... none. And you have to buy his syllabus

Nice guy. Lec can be boring at times. Discussions help. Quizzes every so often, but they really help when it comes time for the exams. Not a bad class. I would recommend it.

He is very boring but the material in this course is very interesting. Just try to stay awake and write down what he puts up in his overheads because thats basically all he puts on his tests and quizzes.

just go to class take all the notes on the overhead and study notes for quizzes and tests. Don't buy the textbook, you dont need it but buy the syllabus

Very nice guy. Lecture can get boring but as long as you take notes and do decently on quizzes, you will easily pass. Guest lecturers are much worse than Kamen himself but the course material is generally interesting.

He is hilarious. Hes right out of a cartoon. Hes a good teacher, can be boring and quizzes are very often but they help. Dont need the book at all. You only use it when your studying, so use the book on reserve.

he was a good teacher, very straight forward, everything that he put in his lectures were usually on the tests and quizzes. go to lectures and study your notes, you'll find this to be an easy class.

Gary is the man. He tries to be funny, which is funny in itself. His powerpoints tend to be all over the place, so you have to pay attention in class to really get it, but if you're an athlete, you'll find it interesting anyway.

Class is not that hard, all the notes are online but the are very general, you need to go to class to understand them....you do not need the book and there are no more quizzeshe changed it to take home assignements, Disscussion is very easy and if you do bad on the tests the disscussion points will boost your grade a lot.

Kamen is a nice guy, i felt like the material was difficult to understand tho. his quizes weren't bad but my TA was a tough grader. Just make sure you have a good TA

He's a good teacher as long as you don't expect this class to be easy. Take lots of notes, studing before quizzes are a must! Go to discussions too, they may seem pointless but will boost your grade. Textbook not necessary, maybe 5% of all info not from notes.

This class was very easy, no need for the textbook, quiz almost every week that only has two lectures worth of notes on it. Some information gets boring but then he'll attempt to crack a joke. Lectures aren't mandatory but if u go u'll get an A

don't buy the textbook, its a waste of money. you should try to go to the classes though, everything on the quizzes is from the notes, and they are NOT posted online, however you can go to office hours. the material isnt to hard as long as you have the notes

This class was awful. Best 5 out of 6 quizzes and 2 tests and a final exam. All quizzes and tests were on Friday's so Thursday night is usually spent studying for them. Lectures were just powerpoints and were very boring, but you can go to the office hours and get notes. I found that easier because the TA's are there and will explain everything.

DONT BUY THE BOOK. you don't need it. I found the information interesting so lectures wern't bad. Go to class and discussions, it's a must. Kind of a lot of work but not hard stuff, just time consuming. Second exam much easier than the first. *Go to review sessions in discussion, help a ton for tests.

easy class imo, just go to class and pay attention, all test questions are on the slides, 95% of questions on slides, 5% from the book. final was pretty hard, pulled off a B though, do the extra credit for an easy letter grade boost, wish i did it though.

A true "character", he's got some personality and once reenacted a soldier getting both arms blown off and still fighting which was funny/frightening at the same time. Take this class if you work out cause it makes the material really easy if you have actual experiences to relate to.

a little bit confusing. he jumps around a lot, and even though his key points are on the lecture slides, you may not understand the details. he never talks about doing the readings, but he literally wrote the text book, so reading it does help in studying for exams. this class was harder than i thought it would be, and sometimes boring.

He is funny at times. You must attend class or at least read ALL lecture notes to pass each quiz. The first midterm was simple. The second midterm was annoying, the final was the hardest and longest thing. Must take notes, MUST attend discussions - you will pass with an A. Book NOT necessary one bit.

Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are quizzes every two weeks or so and everything comes out of his lectures, so it's in your best interest to go. Sometimes he can be confusing and he jumps around once in a while, but he knows what he's talking about and you'll learn a lot. He can be funny at times as well.

I enjoyed this class. Attend all the lectures because he only ends up posting about 4 lectures throughout the semester. The quizzes are based solely on your notes. Not multi-choice but not difficult either. The exams seemed a bit tricky like there could be more than one answer. I ended up w/ an A-. Go to ALL discussions!! A MUST.

This professor can be kind of confusing, and the quizzes seem to come from the most obscure parts of your notes. Definitely go to the lectures and all discussions. DON'T BUY THE BOOK!

there is a lot of material to cover and the only way to get it is to go to lectures. You need to study for the quizzes that are like every 2 weeks. the ta's are helpful and are less demanding than him. and DO NOT buy the textbook, he wrote it himself so his lectures cover everything.

Don't get the book, you won't use it, and the lab manual is online. Just show up to class and take notes on the lecture. Don't do readings. Study for the quizzes, especially if you have a hard TA. Go to discussions, it helps your grade. This course is tough for a 100 level. Study and you should be ok.

Do not buy the boook!!! This class is very interesting and cool learning about exercise science and stuff. The test is all on the notes! You must go to class to get a good grade. Quizes are the hardest but make sure to study because they are short response quizes.

I didn't know anything about kinesiology, but I felt like I actually learned throughout the semester. GO TO DISCUSSION. Don't need to go to class. He reads literally directly from the slides. Quizzes require you to MEMORIZE your notes from the lectures, which are on the computer anyway. Exams require some intense studying.

he is soooo boring....the mic is always to low, no one listens, the info is common sense, there are quizzes every week and a discussion with TAs who think they are gods gift to earth. not a bad class just not great especially if you are not a j=kin major. tests are easy and there are quizzes all the time. no major paper, just little labs

I really enjoyed this class and felt like I learned alot. He's such a cute old man and is unintentionally funny sometimes. He knows his stuff though- just pay close attnetion to his lectures and you'll be okay. Quizzes require 1-2 hours of memorization. If you study hard for the quizzes then the tests are a piece of cake.

It was impossible not to fall asleep every time I went to Lecture. Discussion section pretty good and easy. Some interesting material. Tests and quizzes ridiculous. Questions on the smallest least important concepts instead of the things you actually learn in the class. Stupid, wouldn't recommend.

Gary, put perfectly, is unintentionally funny. His lectures are so-so... sometimes boring but other times real neat. He uses examples a lot to help you remember material. Still, you must study to get a good grade. The part I hated was that the exams and weekly quizzes are filled with nonimportant details, so it's annoying sometimes.

Doctor Kamen is probably one of the funnier profs on campus. his class is not terribly hard provided you do not get a red headed psycopath for your discussion TA. The class is all notes with a decent amount of work in disc. All in all its a good class

Hes a very intense professor who is unintentionally funny. His erratic hand gestures cause people to pay more attention then they would but hes very strict/severe. The Tas know this and will do everything they can to help you out. All in all if you go to every class, take good notes and are semi-intelligent then an A is very doable

Way too hard for a 100 level course. Assumes everyone is a kin major when most people are taking it for a gen ed. The discussion work is easy, but the quizzes and tests are ridiculously specific.

the topics covered in this class are very general. you have to go to class to get notes b/c he only posts the slides with complicated graphs. even if you have someone's notes from a previous year, he does switch it up the order a bit occasionally. overall not a particularly difficult class. if you're worried there's an ex cr paper worth 20 points.

pay attention in lecture and you will do fine. He explains everything very clearly. You do need to study for the exams and quizzes, but your studying will pay off.

He's so excited to teach the class! Reminds me of Santa Claus a little bit. The material is not hard, you will most likely get a kick a** TA who will give you a study guide for each test or tell you the answers :D READ THE BOOK!

I love this guy! He makes coming to class enjoyable because he is so enthusiastic with his teachings. He keeps your attention. If you missed a lecture, he does not put the slides online, but the textbook (which he wrote!) pretty much covers every bit of material he goes over in class.

Must get notes from class. Fast paced class with many assignments, and one of the harder courses in KIN. Do not take if not a kin major. Take kin 110. Discussion is mandatory. To get an A you need to do very well on the tests and quizzes which is very tough. The scale is very tough as well. out of 620 points only 20 separates an A from a B.

Dr. Kamen is always excited about everything he's teaching. Attendance is optional at the lectures, except for 7 quizzes throughout the semester, two of which are dropped. Discussion section attendance is mandatory. The exams, however, are very challenging. Studying from the textbook AND lecture material is necessary for optimal performance

Kamen is very interested in the material he is teaching, yet his lectures are boring and cause confusion. In order to do well in the class you must attend lecture and discussion (mandatory), as well as thoroughly read the book. His exams are much more difficult than anticipated. If you aren't a Kin major then I would not recommend this class.

Dr. Kamen is an interesting fellow. His lectures run very dry; slides are just white text on a blue background. I'd take him again.

Absolutly horrid lecture style. Seeminly imcomprehensible. Quizzes are fairly easy, but the exams focused entirely on small details and stats ,which were barely mentioned in class. He was the only teacher for this required class when I took it, and I would not take a lecture of his again willingly. Textbook doesn't help with comprehension.

Kamen is a quirky man! He is fun to watch during lectures, which are pretty plain but the guy has a ton of material to cover in one semester. His style of teaching wasn't confusing, he was very clear, and would explain if you were lost. I'd recommend him for this class, he really knows what he's talking about.

you will only pass if you go to this class. if you take good notes and follow along his lectures, you will do fine. he gives quizzes (7) but he drops the lowest 2. discussions are mandatory. the class is good but you have to work and study. dont bother even buying the textbook. his lectures are interesting though. i don't regret taking it.

I am a KIN major so I loved Kin100 and found it really interesting. His lectures are very clear and there is no homework. He has in-class quizzes and drops the lowest 2 grades. He also has 2 exams and a final. I found the exams super easy and all I did was go through my notes (I had read the book weeks before). I recommend!!!

If you have the option to take another professor, do it. Gary is a nice guy he's a goof and jokes around but he has a horrible stutter and never remembers what he is saying half way through a sentence. He gives quizzes almost every week which are pretty easy but his tests are hard and no one ever gets as good of a grade as they expect..

Fairly Diffcult for a 100 level course, Exams are multiple choice and questions stem from topics in lecture. Undergraduate TAs are awful, do not even understand the basic concepts of kinesiology that the course teaches and is shown as they grade your quizzes and discussion projects

Kamen is the man. Don't bother with the textbook, you will never use it. Just go to lectures, take notes, pay attention, and do all the discussion work. Other than that, there is no homework. Pretty awesome class. Wouldn't recommend it as a GenEd, but it's really cool if you're an athlete.

Gary is a little strange, but exams are multiple choice and not that difficult. As long as you go to class and take notes you'll do fine. The TAs are terrible though.

This class was tough, wayyyy too much work for a 100 level course. The tests are hard, very specific and difficult to prepare for. In class quizzes are OK, he drops two. TAs are ineffectual. Dr. Kamen moves VERY fast in lecture. Bottom line, you better be able to teach yourself material if you don't absorb lectures immediately.

Kamen is difficult. I went to every class took good notes despite the fact that he goes through his slides pretty fast, did almost all the readings and spent entire nights before quizzes going over my notes and the chapters, and weeks reviewing before exams and I still got a C. You are going to have to do a lot of work to get a B in this class

Really hard class especially for a 1st semester freshman. The work required is far above anything else for other classes and you need to know the material covered in class as well as the book. Exams were relatively straight forward however which was good.

I really liked Professor Kamen. He clearly had a passion for the subject and did a good job of communicating his knowledge. I took the course because I wanted to learn more about physical health; I took a lot out of the course and apply it to my everyday life. Professor Kamen reminds me a little bit of Boston's Santa Clause (in a good way).

The quizzes are fairly easy if you read the the notes and book. The exams have a lot of detail but if you study notes and the book they're not too bad. Discussions are important. As for Gary, he's crazy. He goes on these insane unclear rants for like half the class.I suggest to use the book ALOT for the quizzes, exams, and before lecture. GOOD LUCK

Way too hard for a 100 level class. The fact that there is never any type of study guide for the amount of material he cover in such a short time is ridiculous. The weekly quizzes are annoying, they can make or break your grade. I just think that its way too hard for a lower level course.

Entertaining, but ineffective lectures. Powerpoints aren't much help and he wrote the textbook that you buy & NEVER use. Quizzes are moderately difficult and exams are worse. He gives no study guide and you are lost to try & study what. Discussions (mandatory) are easy points. For a 100 level course it is way more difficult than it should be.

the class is way harder than it should be for a 100 leveled course. TAs are your saviors but that depends on the TA you get. Some are generally easy, others are not. The professor grades the quizzes on whether or not you use a certain word. So you could get explanation right but if you didn't use "cytoplasm" for example, you get the whole ? wrong

Lots of work for just an intro class. Tough exams but there are so many other easy assignments that can make up for a bad test grade. Discussion is a grade booster. 8 in class quizzes can be tough if you don't study. Go to class, take good notes, and study for the 3 exams.

Extremely interested in what he is teaching. His enthusiasm makes it easy to listen and stay engaged. Provides opportunity for extra credit and only counts 57 quizzes.

Kamen is so engaging during his lectures, but if you are not interested in the material, I would not recommend his class. A lot of tests and quizzes and discussion work. But, extra credit is offered very frequently.

Very hard for 100-level. Would not recommend unless required for major. You don't need the textbook, all the tests and quizzes are based on lecture. Quizzes are easy but exams are really tough. Take good notes!! Avoid skipping as much as possible, if at all. His slides are NOT helpful unless you go to lecture. You're set if your TA is an EZ grader.

Kamen's class was by far my favorite in the fall. The material he presents is really interesting. You do have to attend lecture to fully understand material though as anything on quizzes and exams will be said in lecture. You can make up for lost lectures by doing the reading though seeing that he wrote the course textbook. Otherwise, pretty easy A

I had the head TA as my TA and she was a tough grader. Even if I got the answer right, she would find some way to deduct points. The professor was always really interesting and had a passion for the topic he was teaching. This class isn't an "easy A" though. Go to class, do the assignments, study for the tests, and you'll be fine.
