Explains material well; reminds me of a high school teacher in defining key terms and breaking down important sections. Highly recommended.

Definately reminds me of high school teacher, he even gets upset when people talk! He is very thorough and clear, and he wants people to do well, but he seems a little fed up with 'kids' sometimes. If you at least go to class, you'll do fine.
i lyke him, i going take him again for econ 131. very clear. not a boring class.
Go to class and its a breeze
Didn't like this class at all
take notes and read the test will be easy.
this guy screwed my grade because I showed him up in front of his class. I would have had an A but some how I ended up with a C even though I was tutoring his students. they got A's
Was always upbeat and enthusiastic and had lots of cool stories to tell us. pretty easy if you just come to the lectures.
Did not get anything this guy said. rambles on about material that doesn't cooralate with whats on the tests. the questions on the test are ambiguous and weren't covered in class,in the book or in the review. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!!
he's pretty interesting... nice guy, one of my best professors! i liked this class... didn't even take 130 still understood everything... just gotta do 3 easy things... go to class, take notes and read the book! easy easy easy!! test is a breeze if you do!!
Well...he was a bit annoying at first, but you kinda get used to him after a while. I think my biggest challenge was staying awake in that class, but once u do listen, you'll understand the material..
He is very nice guy. He is very talktable person.
easy class
The class is super easy. Just pay a little attention in class and the tests will be a breeze. Get your 5 quizzes early on while its easier.
AAAHHH! very boring class. tends to ramble about himself. i rather read the book than go to class. there's 9 pop quizzes scattered in the semester though. just go to class...i guess.

Homework and pop quizzes, but no essays to write. Material was difficult, but the curve gave me an edge. Pretty easy but not one of the more interesting courses I've taken.
Get your rest before and the rest will be fine

He nice but talks too damn much when you go to see him.

He's a really great teacher, very knowledgeable and helpful...PLUS he has no required homework and gives you a ton of chances to succeed. Highly recommended.
super cruise class. just make sure you show up so you dont miss the pop quizzes.
slurs his words too much... one sentence is one syllable to him LOL
Kikuchi is dependent on the overhead, his lectures revolve around it. He covers examples in class and subject matter with graphs. He interacts with the first row and asks if the class has questions. Reading the book is helpful in clarifying.
looks lyk judge ito.. cool guy.. show up to class so u dont miss the pop quizzes.. kinna gotta pay attention.. just take notes.. but yea.. kinna slurs.. jus gotta listen good
midterm tough
He is too reliable on his overhead projector. I had no clue what the hell was going on in class and found that he would be skipping steps and moving on to things not related to econ. I wouldn't recommend his class unless you really like economics and want to give yourself a huge challange.
the class wasn't too hard, just PAY ATTENTION. if you get behind you're screwed. kikuchi got off track sometimes. no required hw but watch out for pop quizzes and hard midterms. study sessions are a waste of time, and use tutoring if u need it, it helps
if you are interested in econ, i recommend that you not take this course. it is a very boring introduction to econ. kikuchi only interacts with the students in the front of the classroom, and he kind of shuts down stupid questions. hes seems like a nice guy and all, but just not a very good teacher.
Generous grading
i hated econ when i took his class. his curve of the grades was the only good thing cause eeeeveryone failed the exams. then he had these dumb pop quizes and watch out for that final exam cause it was HARD and cummulative. his pendmenship sucked too... damn overhead projector.
kikuchi's class was not that bad as some says it is. just go to class and take notes and you'll be fine. i hate econ and dont know anything about it but he teaches in a way in which you'll learn and understand the material.
Very helpful -knows his**** and real world experienced prof with well structured classes but testing was tough. Take the summer courses if you want a class size under 40.
Boring Lecture classes and hard tests but generous grading.
Kind of old school writing notes on overhead projector. Just go to review session and should be okay for exams. Don't really need to do the homework. Kind of boring lectures though.
No real need for textbook. He gives all informatin on the overhead projector. Sort of hard, but real generous grading.
Great Teacher, Interesting guy. Lots of funny things to say, and talks story A LOT

Nice, fair, and funny. Might as well go to class everyday because there are pop quizzes. He curves the grades and wants you to do well. Take him!
Big lecture class. Even though attendance is not mandatory, he goes over A LOT of graphs, and complex theories - more in depth than what the book will tell you. Try not to fall asleep. He is kinda boring. Attend the review sessions and use the study guides to your advantage.
I seriously can take a midterm about his life. he talks way too much about himself.
If you get F on the first midterm, don't worry, you can still get an A for that class. He kinda talk a lot but if you listen to all the lectures, you'll be fine. I didn't even buy the textbook for that class.
ECON 140... he is an ok kinda guy... but teaching is another story... his examples go way into detail.. and you miss the important part.. after a while.. you tune him out and miss everything..
This guy is absolutely ridiculous, don't take this guy. His tests aren't anywhere near what he teaches in class, and if you were able to stay awake and actually listen to him all you would hear is his stories about his family and his college life. You dont get much out of him really, dont take this class
SAVE YOURSELF! I am not a bad student, and this teacher made me feel like i knew NOTHING. He gives NO STUDY GUIDES, his tests are CUMALITIVE, and his lectures are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I even tried to read the book to teach myself but it did no good because his exams are about anything and everything other than what he says is important.
I found this class very VERY VERY difficult. I tried so hard to understand by reading but it was no use. The text is important only because there's a disc you need to download to do homework.
If it weren't for my sched i wouldn't take his class. the free study guide is pretty useful and sums up some parts. His study guide he has for download sucks! (it's too easy compared to the exams) watch out for the second midterm! He's not helpful @office hrs, he'll just say "did you read the book thoroughly? read it again then come back, i'm busy
Omg. So boring. BUTTTT he did curve ALOT.
with kikuchi he makes everything seem interesting & everything totally clicks. But then we go to do the homework & study, & I'm sitting scratching my head wondering what I've learned the past semester. the exams, I got a 15 out of 30 & that was a C! The curve though it worked to my advantage. That should not be a C! Something is wrong here. econ
Kikuchi was not very helpful. The tests were curved, and the quizzes were popped. Attendance not mandatory. Take this class purely because he was easy on the eyes. If only I could run my hands through his beard.
He did not help me learn anything. I went to class and realized what a waste of time it was. If u don't need this class, don't take it
Go to class, he gives out pop quizzes throughout the semester, 9 of them total. HW is done online and there are deadlines so be sure you do them before the deadline or else you cant finish it. His exams are a little funky and don't really reflect what he goes over in lectures, so be sure you read the book! His stories are funny and entertaining.
i didn't think he was a great teacher my first time taking econ, but after i took econ 131 with another prof, i wish i could have taken kikuchi again. curved tests helped, quizzes (3 multiple choice questions) were easy as long as u read the chapter before coming to class, and his TA was super helpful.
i loved econ in high school. i was super pumped to get to econ. he was horrible. super boing. bad teacher. butchers econ.however the curve is amazing.
I first took ECON 120 over summer and absolutely loved him so I signed up for 130, 131 and I still love him but his stories get a little repetitive. He is very easy, funny, and easy to talk to. Basically, everything is multiple choice.
I don't understand the material at all, but I get decent grades because of the curves. If you have to take him, he isn't all that bad.
Not too dreadful but sometimes its boring. Just need to do good on one midterm and final then you should be okay. Grade Curve is great!
Seems to enjoy what he does and knows the material very well. Very nice and enthusiastic. The material can get mind numbing and confusing but the curve helps a lot. The online homework is required but isn't compatible with macs which is a real inconvenience.
64% total grade gave me a B
The best teacher!! he challenges you so that way you will do well in the final. I'm currently taking ECON 131 and the proff. sucks. I miss having kikuchi because, he's fair, keeps the class fun and helpful.
Class can be confusing but the homework is relatively easy. attendance is not mandatory but he does give quiz that affect your grade. He is a nice guy and tries to meet everyones standards.
I can tell that he cares for us to really understand the subject but sometimes it just seems impossible. There are times when i have no idea what he's talking about because i get so bored! there's online hwk like once or twice a week. curve is pretty damn good.
The quality of Kikuchi's lectures are mediocre at best if you can pay attention during them. His hand writing is like chicken scratches. Worst, his exams do not follow the book or his lectures. His TA is friendly but is not at all helpful. The only advantage to this class is that there is a large curve. I'd recommend Kikuchi to my worst enemy
Kikuchi was the best! Teaches you patiently and has vast knowledge of what he is teaching. I wouldn't recommend this class if you cannot keep up with attending. His lectures will GREATLY reduce the amount of studying needed. Plus his beard is the best, many men wish they could have it like that!
He undoubtedly has a lot of knowledge of the subject. however, he goes off on tangents all the time, the lesson gets lost in those tangents, and his class drags on FOREVER. His TA isn't very useful. His accent is very heavy and you can't understand a word he says.
Best choice for econ. teacher. Going to class helps a lot if you dont fully understand whats going on. Econ. in general was hard for me but I passed with a B. Tests were a little hard for me but if you fully understand this stuff then you should be fine. Kikuchi is a good teacher, take his class.
ugh...just try avoid him if possible...he just will put you to sleep in his lectures
Not very helpful outside of class.
He is pretty decent as a teacher, I think he is one of the better ones in the UH system. He does give a lot of help. For example the homework that is given is designed not to punish you but to help you.He is also very easy to approach after class and ask clarification from the material. If you are having trouble see him for help because he cares!!!
Really hard teacher... what he teaches in class, has nothing to do with how the book describes anything, which has nothing to do with the homework and it just gets really confusing on what to study. Going to class makes the material more confusing. not a fun class or easy at all
I dreaded going to this class. He had a monotone voice, but he did know his stuff. He used a lot of examples based on his experience which was really good. The only part that got me though his class was the super easy weekly homework, and his curves. He curves the exams really good, if not I would have failed.
I took Econ 130 with him, so I already knew how he teaches the class. He's not a bad teacher, he knows his stuff, but he is boring. I would sometimes fall asleep in class, which I usually rarely do. Homework and curves are awesome.
In a nutshell, try to avoid him unless you absolutely love econ. He's knowledgeable but he tries to convey too much material in a short time span. Only reason why im passing is because of the TA. Use the TA as much as possible. Lectures sucks and he gives random quizzes for attendance. Don't fall behind or you're done
I really didn't enjoy this class despite the fact that I was quite interested in the subject matter. Kikuchi is very knowledgeable but is sometimes hard to understand and the class can drag on like a day without bread. You definitely need a caffeine fix for his class...
One of the worst teachers i have ever had. The lectures were boring and kikuchi is extremely difficult to understand. homework is helpful but doesn't reflect the test material. the curve is really good though since the class average on tests was low. i would definitely not recommend taking kikuchi's class.
The homework was helpful, although having a thorough understanding of it wasn't enough to get you through the exams, you still HAVE to read the book!! The class time did seem to drag on, even with his examples relating econ to real life, which i thought was nice. quizzes make up attendance
He seems nice. But doesn't email back fast and when he does, doesn't help you understand. Homework is NOT like the exams or quizzes!! Class material is hard itself, but kikuchi doesn't make it any clearer. I would not recommend him. His curve is pretty good, he curves everything, but its impossible to know ur grade til the end.
SUPER UNORGANIZED! He mumbles and jumbles a lot.
Kikuchi is a really nice guy, but honestly I didn't enjoy the lectures. Spent too much time on some things and not a lot on others. If you read the textbook and keep up with powerpoint notes (in back of book) you'll do fine. Barely any homework.
