Excellant professor, gets his poing across in a fun and friendly way
great prof
Easy going
not very enjoyable of a time
very nice,great teacher
Good teacher. Very clear. Attend class & you will do fine.
He's very nice, go to class and you'll do well.
This Proff. knows how to teach..the rest of the Math dept. should get a clue.
Rude. Told class who best student was. Daily said "I don't feel like teaching"
Great calculus teacher...bad TRIG teacher. Nice guy though
rude, made rude comments to students and made students feel stupid
Made it so I liked math, I wish everyone could have a prof like this in math
Nice & easy. Just go to class. He is really funny. One of the best I've had.
Easy, open book on tests/quizzes, highly boring, but simple man.
Better choice in stats than ANY other on campus.
Needs to stop talking about his wife's aunt's dog's flea problem and teach math
Great Prof
looks an awful lot like santa claus, which was distracting at times.
nice approach, fair and reasonable
rambles at the beginning of class and crams the rest of the lesson in at the end
every test is open book and strait from the book so expect an A!
Has his favorites & makes it known every class.Assignments can b turned in late
Show up, work hard, and you will do fine, have fun and participate.
excellent teacher, no book, a zillion handouts, fair, some rambling, show up
Open book/open note tests, quizzes, exams, no homework, super easy, nicest guy.
great guy, sometimes i forgot i was in math class, his stories are great.
Open book/notes on anything! Great guy, although at times he lacks social grace.
Very good to have if you are bad at math.
I have a lot of respect for a man who can teach a bunch of math-handicapped students. Great prof.
Very easy class and Very good professor. Everything is open book and open notes, even the final exam. If you hate Math, take this class.
If this is the only math course you have to take, take it from Prof. Klingler. The class was ridiculously easy, but the prof. was great.
Very easy class, covers things many times and allows open note/book quizes. Plus, you can ask other people. Nice guy who really wants to know you and teach you.
Prof. is the best I've had. Really cares about the success of his students. His sense of humor is subtle. Great guy.
Great Prof, class is extremley easy. If you pay attention in class and take well notes you'll do fine on his tests. All tests are open book, open notes and quizes can always be taken w/ a partner! Awesome person to have for a teacher and easy course!
He is very flexible and accomodating for those who need it, he works hard to make things understandable. He doesn't, however, have very good control of the class. He always chatting to continue during his lectures, which is extremely distracting.
Really nice guy, but really learn nothing. Class doesn't prepare for common final making it difficult, and tons of writing assignments.
You couldn't have a better prof! He is THE BEST! SUPER EASY. Everything is open book/note-even the final. Lacks social grace, but makes up for it with an easy A in the class. I wish every prof at GVSU was like him. Couldn't ask for a better professor!
he is so cool. very easy too! has passion for the subject and his students. wants everyone to succeed. i would take every class with him if i could. open book/notes for tests and final. friends can help each other on the quizzes. he is the best. TAKE HIM!
You really don't learn anything new, it is all stuff that you should have gotten in Jr. High. Professor Klingler is very nice and does a good job of presenting material, but that doesn't make up for how boring the course itself is.
BORING! Many writing assignments and hard FINAl exam!
He gives a ton of assignments that are pointless and he doesnt grade them very easy either. Overall he is an ok guy, but boring and very picky grader. Open note test are fairly easy.
He is a good professor overall but needs to not be so tough with his grading. He assigns alot of homework and then grades it as if it were a test. Lots of papers to keep track of and no real review before tests. Reminds me of a middle school teacher because thats how he will treat you.Don't be late.
If you stuggle with math...this is the professor to have. Everything is explained in great detail and he will help you out as much as he can. Good professor.
Surveying his students with a personal questionnaire the first night of class, this instructor won me over! This was the first GVSU instructor I've had in three years who actually seemed to CARE what outside things his students had going on! Much appreciated! Tough with grading tests/projects but always willing to work with his students.A++
He seems really easy at first because you don't have to turn in your homework and the quizes are easy but the tests surprise you! The tests are difficult and you def need to do your homework and study...otherwise the test will blow you away
Great Professor! I struggle with math, but i passed his class with a decent grade. He actually cares about his students and gives a questionaire the first day of class to see what stuff his students have going in their lives. Tests are hard though. Make sure you do your homework
If you have the hots for Santa Claus this is your professor. It's hard to focus on math with such a charming and delightful prof. Makes math easy and enjoyable just like me.
prof klingler is a very decent guy, he always went above and beyond with help and suggestions. when in trouble and need advice with math goto his office and he will go over it until you are clear.. tests, homework and quizzes are all open note, he believes in helping students
Makes Algebra so easy. Will help you out in any way that you need. Take him if you have any trouble with Math at all.
What others say is true: he goes above and beyond to help you be successful. He obviously cares a lot about teaching. He teaches entry-level math courses for non math majors, even though that means that a big percent of his students hate math. He prefers to teach those kinds of students because he really enjoys helping people understand something t
Klingler is absolutely phenominal. I got Ds in my h.s. math classes. Now I understand it all. He has these ways of teaching it differently so all students understand. If you are really good in math, I wouldnt take him...youd be bored. But if you struggle youd be crazy not to. He gets so excited about teaching its actually kind of funny. A++++
He's pretty easy..open notes on quizes and tests...slow pace so it gets boring at times..i would recomend him
This class is easy but HORRIBLY BORING! He drones on and on and on and on. It really isnt necessary to find 12 different ways to solve 1 problem, but for some reason he thinks it is! :X Sitting through this class for 2 hours makes me want to kiiiiiiill myself!
Energy level of the professor really rubs off on students that aren't used to being excited about math. His thick, long beard is also not bad to look at (wink, wink, nod, nod...)
i am not a math person but i did very well in his class. his teaching is a little boring, because my class was 2 hours long, but he is VERY helpful, and shows u every possible way to do a problem. he also allows you to use your notes and handouts on all your quizzes and tests, so taking notes is worthwhile. overall great prof
It's really a boring class, but it's really easy. Everything is open note and open book, and quizes are open partner. I would go to class because he uses story problems from class on tests... it's easier if you know the answers and work already. He's nice, and will help you out, get the book, it will help on tests and stuff.
Great professor, he may be a little boring but he cares about your grades and he does everything he can do to help you understand the material.
Excellent professor. Very intuitive, makes sure that you understand the material before moving on. Open book tests. Math is a subject that many people don't like; he understands this, and tries to cultivate an environment that piques interest in the subject. Show up, participate, and share in his enthusiasm, for he deserves this kind of respect.
I have dropped this class three times since starting Grand Valley. This was the first time I'm actually going to FINISH it so that alone tells you something. I think he's a GREAT professor and if I have to take math again, I'll look for him. Everything is open-note, take home tests. Plus, he really explained how to use a graphing calculator!
Tests were very hard even though they were open book/note. He's a good professor and willing to help though.
I have always been really good at math until I took this class. Klingler doesn't ever know what he is talking about. He is constantly asking the class if he did the equations right. The first time I went into his office to ask him if I could see my test he told me he knew he wasn't the best teacher and just wished he could give everyone A's.
Klinger never knows what he is talking about. He knows math just not how to teach it to his students. I found out near the end of semseter that he had let certain students take home their test and make corrections but not others...like me.He will often tell you that your doing something correctly when you get it back you have usually done horrible!
I thought I had seen it all when it came to Math Professors. By far, this one beats them all. He allows you to use your books, notes, etc on all tests and exams but he can't teach to save his life. His final exam in my opinion was an epic fail. Oh did i mention I've gotten As in Math for 12 yrs. He ruined my GPA. You have to be willing to work hard
WORST MATH EVER!! I stronley recommend taking someone else unless you want to teach yourself. I'm really good at math but I was totally clueless. It's sad when you fail open book, open note tests. That's how ridiculous it is. He doesnt even know what he's talking about half the time. Take someone else.
Told the class he didn't care if I got a question wrong because it wasn't important enough for him to teach the class how to do it.
I liked him! He let's the class choose how the grades will be weighted and he genuinely wants everybody to do well in his class. If you don't have a good math background, he might not be the greatest, but he still knows what he's talking about. I would try to take him if you want a good grade.
Professor Klingler is absolutely awesome. I am terrible at math, but ended up with an A- in this class. Tests are open note/book and he even lets you pick how your grade will be determined (values of tests, quizzes, homework etc.) Super nice guy and really funny too. Highly, highly recommend him.
Absolutely love this prof, he's so nice and understanding. Let me turn in all of my late work for full credit, including in class activities. He was very helpful! Even if you're terrible at math he'll help you get an A! He also lets you set the grading scale! Pay attention and contribute, you will want to by then end of the class!
wonderful wonderful wonderful wonderful wonderful professor!! I couldn't say it enough!! I always get C;s in math and took his class when retaking math 110 and i have a 97%! If you are someone who struggles with math, his teaching approach is the way to go. He provides a lot of worksheets for you to work on for a few minutes with people around you
I switched out of his class after the first day. We spent the class period introducing ourselves and he told the entire class about my terrible GPA. He also made sure to inform those with high ACT scores the number and that they could test out of the class. Let's talk about a total invasion of privacy.
Realy easy especaly for math. All the quizes were open note and group and all the test were open book/note. Lectures get boring but its worth take the class its easy
He sometimes invades privacy by saying people's GPA's and ACT scores, but his tests are open book, quizzes are open partner and everything is easy.
Easy class. Great teacher and will help you with anything, just ask. He is really easy going. I struggle in math and I received a 99% in the class. Take him!!
easy to pass the class. talks way to much about absolutely nothing. talks about students grades openly in front of the entire class. everything is open book/open note.
Great professor. Looks like santa clause. I got a 103% in the class, and learned so much while not putting too much work into the class. Take him!
His tests are open book/open note- MAJOR plus. If you go to his office hours, he is extremely helpful, and will tell you pretty much exactly what to expect on his tests. Be careful not to ignore the seemingly pointless worksheets, though- it'll pull your grade down, if you don't turn them in.
He was really easy and I had not problem passing. A lot of the time he was very rude and treated his students like children. I felt I was not respected and felt he often mocked me. If you want someone easy go ahead and take him but I would not recommend him to anyone.
Treated us like we were in elementary school. Attendance counts towards grade which i thought was stupid, as well as participation. Easy class but you'd learn more yourself from him
LOVED this teacher. He is older so he has stories he likes to tell but he explains the math in such an easy way you don't struggle! NO book needed, it's online. Tests are open book/notes, quizzes can be worked in groups. Easy class but you also learn. I love math now because of this prof!
He is very nice. Sometimes he talks a little too much, but his stories are mostly interesting. I learned in the class and I liked it.
He's one of the best professors I've had so far. He gives A LOT of extra credit questions. He also give very helpful handouts that could lead you to getting a very good grade in the course. His quizzes and exams are all open book which is an advantage. He tells interesting stories about his life. I would definitely take this professor again!
Great Professor! Not a difficult class. He will give out study guides for tests as well as extra credit. Very nice as well.
Klingler is very kind and caring, always eager to help his students. His work was all online with tutorials on how to do the problem which were very beneficial. He's very generous with points and is always trying to help students succeed and make class enjoyable. He's a fair teacher and easy-grader. He also let us use notes on quizes and exams.
only thing about this class that was annoying was the fact that I bought the textbook, which we didn't use all year. so don't buy it! really nice guy and is helpful and appreciates being asked questions after class/during office hours. sometimes is a little rude and talks about students grades in front of the class, but not in a mean way.
GREAT prof! He is very helpful and all his exams (including the final) you get to use your notes. Also, you get to work with others on quizzes. Attend class and you will be fine.
Super easy prof! Definitely recommend him to anyone! Talks a bit much and doesn't deal with disrespectful students. Tests/final are open notes and quizzes you can work with other people on them. Gives out a ton of extra credit opportunities. Great prof!
If you struggle with math don't take professor klingler. I really struggled with math and he did not make the class interesting or easy to understand for me. However, if you do not struggle with math this class will be an easy A.
gives a lot of extra credit. not very good at teaching. many small quizzes, all take home, can work on with other people. his homework he gives out is much harder than in class tests. everything, including final is open book open note. easily gets off topic. cant read his handwriting. handouts that are done in class are helpful while taking tests
I loved this class and this professor. You must to show up to class because he gives attendance points and participation points. He is very good about giving out extra credit and posting stuff that he does in class in case you miss something you can just get it off blackboard. He was very good about extending homework if needed. Highly recommend.
Quizzes you can work together on, tests are open note. Lots of homework but it's easy and you go over it every week. He sometimes talks about other students when they're absent but not in a mean way.
Makes you do webwork. However, every quiz is open note plus can be worked on with partners. Every test is also open note but test are completed by yourself. Im not very good at math and I still received an A. He is kind of boring to listen to but very nice. He offers extra credit too(a lot) and his grading scale is to the students advantage.
All of his stuff is open note open partner besides the tests which are just open note. He is a very sarcastic guy and if you can't handle that don't take him. You do have to go to class for a small portion of your grade. Overall I highly recommend
Great Professor, which I could have Dr Klingler for every Math Class
Prof Klingler is a teacher who cares about his students learning and development. His excitement for math got his students excited. Need more like prof Klingler.
