Gary is the best math teacher that I have ever encountered. He works hard to make sure that you have every opportunity to succeed. He is sensitive to those who do not pick up math quickly and is always ready with a smile.

This guy is the guy you want to take if you are not a math major. One of the only professors who is capable of understanding that math does not come easily to every1 and therefore teaches in a style that lets you understand the material first instead of pushing more onto you b4 you are ready for it

This teacher is awesome. I hated math last semester and got a D-, but this semester with Gary I got a B+ average. He is so helpful and understanding. He is an excellent teacher and very funny. he doesnt give extra credit but nobody really needs it since homework and exams are a piece of cake.

Assigns lots of work but worth it.

Gary IS the best math teacher I've ever had. I hated math when I was young, and now I look forward to it. He explains algebra in ways that you can actually grasp. I took him for math095 last semester, and am taking him again for the fall. He is very patient, clear and understanding with his students. I wish he taught everything through calculus.

Gary is a great teacher I took 095 last semester with and this semester I am taking 100. Gary takes the tiem to answer all students questions, he makes math fun. As others have said I wish he taught other math classes. Yes he does give lots of homework and if you do teh homework it makes the test a lot easier. Pratice makes perfect.

Gary is a great teacher. If math is not your best subject I highly reccomend him. He has an awesome personality, is funny and is very patient when you do not understand something.I used to HATE math, but now it is bearable.

GREAT TEACHER!!!!!!! He's very nice and a great guy, however, if you HATE using the STUPID my math lab... dont take this class. he uses it all through out his class and it sucks. Orlando is awesome and a great teacher, probably one of the best at scsu!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is the best math teacher southern has to offer. Southern is known to have a really bad math department but this guy knows his stuff. He is very nice, and teaches very clear!!! There is alot of homework but it only helps you do better in the class. I always got help from him! I am not good in math at all but Im getting a B+! Take his class!!!!!!

Profeesor Orlando is an excellent teacher. The class goes at a very reasonable pace, and if you don't understand something, he'll make sure you do before moving on. If you're looking for a professor that will look out for your best interests, motivate you to want to learn, and actually care that you understand the material, he is the one.

Gary is a great professor from a family of great scholars. In fact, one of the buildings at SCSU is named after his family. I have never been good at math, and this was the hardest course I have ever taken at SCSU. I credit Gary with getting me through my Math anxiety, and on to getting my degree. Gary is awesome. Gary is such a nice guy. He really goes above and beyond to help all his students in mastering math concepts. I strongly dislike math, but Gary made it less intimidating and easier to understand. He answers all questions and takes time to go over homework every class. Anyone taking MAT 100 should DEFINITELY take Gary Orlando!

By far the best math teacher I ever had. He is extremely clear of what he expects & teaches you everything you need to know to pass. Just do the online work & most of the homework to get an idea of what you don't understand so you can ask ?'s and you'll be fine. HE SPEAKS ENGLISH unlike a lot of other SCSU professors. Take him you won't regret it.

Professor Orlando is a decent teacher. Definitely one of those teachers who will go out of his way to try and help you with a problem, even if it is during a test! At times before class he would give little tips about life or whatever, which was cool. Sometimes he seemed to get a bit too political for my taste seeing as I disagreed with his views.

garys a great guy with a good sense of humor. very good teacher which i need because i am horrible at math. doesnt collect book homework, just mathzone. tests are fair and dont try to trick you and gives 10 point quizzes which are good to boost your grade and show you if you really get the material.

Always there to help when a question is needed to be answered. Enforces you to ask questions and do well. Breaks his heart if you fail, he won't let you, but he makes it known that its up to you to do well. Alot of hard work involved. Awesome professor, if I could I'd take him again!

He is so understanding, caring, and helpful! He gives you homework, and then quizzes like every other class. I didn't need this class, but got through it with a C. I enjoyed going to his class. Pay attention, do your homework, and study. If you need your math credit, I highly recommend him.

He is an amazing teacher! The only time I have ever understood math is when he was teaching it! His classes are easy enough, just pay attention, do the homework, and you'll be perfectly ok. Wish he taught MAT 100!

Great teacher! I failed Intermediate math 3 times with other professors. With Orlando I understood everything he taught. He is understanding and available to help any time. All my work was "A" work. because he is a great instructor. Hint, Mid term and final exams are question from the semester exams. Highly recommend!

Professor Orlando was extremely helpful and made the subject easy to understand. I have always disliked math, but usually I have done pretty well. Orlando made the subject clear, gave regular hw, quizzes, and tests, but all in all I learned many things I had failed to learned in previous Algebra classes.

Absolutely Loved Professor Orlando! The book was used for homework mostly. He always showed us each lesson in his own way, which made it so much easier to understand. He always makes time for extra help, and will go over things whenever it is not understood. If math is not your easy for you, take his class - he's great!

He makes sure that everyone is on the same track but still doesnt pressure anyone to complete the homework or come to class..he leaves it up to the student to choose their path. Gary is one of the greatest professors I've ever had. He has helped me so much with Math and makes Math so clear for everyone to understand. Math is not my favorite subject, but having Gary as a professor changed that. If you do all of your work and really pay attention, you will have no problem passing this course. Professor Orlando was one of the best teachers I ever had. I honestly believe he could teach a chimpanzee Algebra if he can teach me to a B+. I had Professor Orlando for the Spring 2015 Semester. He made the concepts much simpler in class than the book made them. He understands why students aren't wild about math and tries to make it a bit more interesting with his own dry sense of humor. He's a perfectly reasonable guy and an A+ teacher.

Professor Orlando is an INCREDIBLE teacher. If you hate math, take him! He makes sure his students understand what they are learning and always goes the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied with your grade. He helps on test, quizzes and reopens the online math assignments at the end of the course. You will pass if you put in an honest effort.

Gary is an incredible prof. If you're reading this review, STOP AND JUST REGISTER FOR HIM! I took MAT100 with Emmett Dennis and failed. I took Orlando's MAT100 class (not remembering anything ) and passed. It's hard work, and he knows this, but he breaks it down and teaches at a comfortable pace to make sure everyone learns. Would take again!!

The best math teacher. He actually cares about student success. He went to the department board to try and show them how ALEKS is hurting students rather than helping. So he actual cares how well you do. And he will be happy to help you if you don't understand. The actual math you do is stuff from high school so it is very easy.

Literally one of the best professors I had this far. He is seriously one of the teachers that wants you to succeed and will help you do so. He gives out little 1 question quizzes from the material learned last class to help you remember the subject. If he taught another math class besides this one I would take him again!

Easily the best prof/ teacher i've ever had. There isn't that much work and the tests were very passable. I'm an awful math student yet I did so well in this class because he takes the time to make sure everyone understands each topic. He cares about every student and will teach important life lessons that go beyond math. Highly recommend!!!!

Honestly, Im terrible at math. This is my third time taking this course with all different professors, and he is the first and only professor I passed it with. Hes very caring, and wants his students to succeed, hes very eager to answer your questions, or w.e youre unclear about. I only didnt like the Aleks HW system the school has.

Prof. Orlando makes math simple to understand. I like when he integrates that which is happening or has happened in the world with math. When he teaches he involves his students in the conversation, he listens and doesn't act as if your opinion doesn't matter. He's always available to speak with you regarding an assignment before or after class.
