Dr Rose is the best damn teacher in SHU!!!!!!!!!! There should be more like him in other departments!!

Also transfered from SHU after freshman year but Dr. Rose not only remembered me 5 years later but returned a call, to San Diego, and chatted with me for 45 minutes. Outstanding teacher, excellent advisor and overall great person.

dr. rose is the most amazing guy you could ever ask to teach a course. he truly cares about his students and will remeber you long after your classes are over. he is always there to help and talk to you. i love this guy

Dr. Rose is an unbelievable professor with such a passion for what he teaches. He brings that passion on you -- in a fun, meaningful, you'll never forget it kind of way! The tests can be intimidating -- but it's all worth it!! TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

Dr. Rose is awesome !!! He demands a lot and is a tough grader. However, he is nice and you learn a lot in his classes. I did not my best in his classes but I took them because he is that great !!!

GREAT professor. I had taken two courses in government prior to this summer and I didn't get a thing out of them. I have had four classes with Professor Rose so far, and I've learned more in 4 classes than I did the previous two semesters.

He is the greatest teacher, I came in not knowing anything and feel like I really learned so much, I was barely bored - 2 tests one paper and presentation, very casual environment - such a nice guy - take him!

He is a great guy, but he grades the tests relatively tough. The tests ARE 100% of your grade but he gives extra-credit presentations sometimes. If you follow the political news on tv and already have preknowledge of the material you will definetely do better than those who do not- current event ?s

Never liked government or have no interest in it? Well Dr. Rose actually gets you interested and gets the class into heated debates. He's very helpful and has a CLA who's fantastic help if you need him. Make sure you read and the class will be a breeze. Great class and a great teacher... FINALLY!

one of the most caring professors@SHU-guy reminds me of an oracle. has a never ending source of information and loves to get into debates about issues but never presses his isssues on you-a major plus! i would take him even if you have no interest in the subject. since its required - take Dr. Rose!

One of the best teachers I have ever had, he seems to love teaching and the material. He makes you question the way you think and although his tests are not easy he is an incredibly fair grader, your time at SHU will not be complete if you dont take one of his classes (his book is good too!).

Best professor at Sacred Heart.

His exams were difficult; however he gave several opportunities for Extra Credit, one of them i think involved listening to and then writing about a presentation. And if you pay attention to the news this should help you a bit on the tests too. But make sure to read the chapter!! He requires you to work, but he is a cool guy

The Best Professor @ Sacred Heart. His personality draws you into his classes and his enthusiasm is second to none. He consistently goes above and beyond both in and out of the class room. I highly encourage undergrads to keep in touch with him after college. The lessons you learn in his classes can be applied to all disciplines. A wonderful mentor.

What a great teacher. He is interesting and intergrates current issues to his classes. He likes to get the class in debate and listen to it unfold. He has a specific direction with his lectures and his clarity and enthusiasm is second to none!

Dr. Rose is awesome! I always look forward to going to his class. Tests, however, are extremely difficult. Just make sure you pay close attention while reading the assigned chapters in the book he wrote. Other than that - classes are great. One of the best profs at SHU! After taking his class I changed my major to poli. sci. He is extremely intelligent, accomplished, and nice too! He is exactly what you imagine a perfect "college professor" to be. It's obvious he loves to teach, and is really interested in what you have to say! Take his class! You won't regret it!

Dr. Rose is con****uously confident in his teaching style, charismatic to a fault, and extremely knowledgeable about American politics. He's fair and great fun, but very tough, so don't try to get by on sloppy work if he knows you can do better.

My favorite prof at SHU. I dont read at all in his class, so its not that bad! If you pay attention and engage yourself, take comprehensive notes and study the night before, you should be getting at least 85's on all his tests, Ive had him for 6 classes now and Ive got between 86-95 on all his tests. You will learn so much and Dr Rose makes it fun!

Dr. Rose is the man and really does a great job of teaching you the material. As long as you read the weekly assignments and take good notes in class, you should do fine on his tests. I learned so much about American Politics in my PO 121 class and he did a great job of teaching it!

Do not take this class. Even though the actual class is somewhat entertaining, the course is horrible. His tests are really hard, and come from both the textbook and classnotes, which is a pain because he never uses the textbook in class at all. Dont take him unless youre looking for a challenging class that will probably leave you with a D or a C.

GRose is hands down my favorite professor at SHU. He is by no means easy and dont try to go off prior knowledge even if your good at polisci. Hes not the professor for you if you dont care about politics and the USA govt. Brilliant professor. Favorite professor at SHU. His tests can be hard, but he gives you the exact information that is on each of them. Each class is engaging and he is always bringing up debates and interesting topics that make class fly by.

Professor Rose is really cool. The class can tend to be a bore considering he lectures a majority of the time, but he can really make things interesting and the conversations that come about can get intense but fun. Only about 3-4 tests and a paper, but make sure you listen to his lectures as some of the answers to the tests are from them.

Professor Rose is a great instructor. He is very clear during his lectures and doesn't make them boring. Government is not one of my greatest interests but he made me want to pay attention. If you read the text and take notes during class time, you will pass no doubt. He tries to make his lectures engaging and asks the students their opinions.

Love him! He gives "homework" but its read the textbook. He just lectures and just listen and show up and you'll be fine. He is nice and doesn't care if you look at your phone for a minute or two. Really sweet professor, but the tests and quizzes are challenging. Textbook quizzes every week. Lectures go off topic and get boring. I was worried I was going to fail the class in the beginning, but he helped get my grade up when I reached out. One paper for the semester. Study, especially if political science is not your area of expertise!!!

This is my second time taking Dr. Rose. The class was about The American Presidency and he always made class enjoyable. Make sure you take notes, pay attention, participate, study for the exams, and do not wait until the last minute to do the paper. Overall, good class.

Professor Rose isn't someone you should be scared of, if you or if you don't have an idea of how politics work then no worries, he goes over it, let's you use the power points before the 4 tests he assigns the entire semester. The quizzes on the online textbook might be tricky, but if you read carefully you'll do well. Assigns one essay.

This is such a great class. Not difficult at all. Dr. Rose is outstanding. Definitely a must take.

Dr. Rose is outstanding both in and out of the classroom. He likes to hear from all his students so make sure to participate. This class consisted of four exams but if you show positive trends he will boost your grade up. Put your all into his class and really study for the exams. If you do that, you will be fine.

I loved Prof. Rose, if you like to debate this class is for you. The Quizzes are annoying but he really wants his students to do well. If you participate he will boost your final grade by an entire letter sometimes. It is really important. The exams are hard or easy depending on the exam but you need to know you're stuff. Take his class!!

I credit Prof. Rose to really turning a student like myself into a more dedicated and committed student and person. This professor wanted to see you do well and gave you all of the tools to do so, you just have to want to succeed and put in LOTS of work. It will pay off with him. Always enjoy courses with Dr. Rose. He wants his students to voice their thoughts about topics in class. Make sure to put the effort into reviewing notes as well as the textbook (some questions are drawn from readings) and do not wait until the last minute to do the term paper.

I loved having Professor Rose as a teacher. In the beginning of the semester, I was anxious throughout the whole class because he calls on every student rigorously. I usually hate being called on, but Professor Rose helps you through it is you're struggling. He really cares about his students and we all say he reminds us of our grandpas.

great teacher i just didnt understand the class he does makeup tests and is very understanding and is on your side to help you andhes lectures are always hilarious

He is very passionate which makes the class more interesting. His tests are hard but there are study groups and if you nate notes on the chapters you will be fine. No homework besides chapters, lecture heavy, and he moves a little fast but a great class.

I LOVE HIM. Super nice and very funny and entertaining. His lectures are always interesting and sometimes out of pocket. The only grades are exams but if you actually take notes in class, read the textbook and study you will be good to go.

I really enjoyed my time in Professor Rose's class. You can see his passion for the subject matter while he lectures. He does cold calls sometimes, so be aware of that. I feel like I left this class having learned a lot and looked forward to the class.
