He is an only child, so it is "All About Him", but he is very funny, clear and concise. His rules at the beginning are tough, but he is a **** cat. This is an entertaining class.

By no means does this class deserve a "5" rating for ease...this is one tough course. You will learn so much though, and by the end of the course, you'll have a lot less anxiety about giving a speech. I'd recommend him for serious students ONLY.

He's awesome! he nderstands that people get nervous and gives you a good grade as long as he notices you're improving!

This guy is the man. He's totally down to earth, you can talk to him about anything. He teaches fairly and grades you on your improvement more than anything else, so as long as you do better at the end, you will definitely not have a problem passing.

Fun class. Grades on how much you improve. No tests, just weekly speeches. He does a good job at helping kids become comforable infront of the class. I guss in the end thats whats it is all about.

This teacher spends much of his teaching time as a public forum to discuss his difficult chilhood and life. He is an average teacher, but did reduce the stress of public speaking.

if u have other hard classes take his speech class. he doesnt burden u with alot of homework, u never stay the whole class time. the class overall was easy all u have to do is go to class and present the speeches, he is NOT a tough grader

Seriously though, I took him over the summer and he made it as painless as possible. strict attend. pol. but very clear on all his asign. I would recommend him to anyone just dont piss him off. The guy loves to talk about his favorite subject, himself! If you can sit through it, You will do fine. This guy has a very high opinion of himself and wont let you ever forget it. He is a nice person but his stories are too self absorbing.

Awesome Teacher! this was the only class i looked foward to going to. i never wanted to miss it. The very first day he breaks the ice and gets you comfortable with the people in the class. This is a great idea because it completely gets rid of the nerves and gets you comfortable with eachother. take this class and you wont regret it!!!

He is a very nice guy and fun class to go to. He makes sure you get to know everyone in the class from the first day. As long as he sees that your trying, youll do well. Just dont buy the textbook!!! He never used it once, was a total waste.

Great teacher. He gets you comfortable with everyone from day 1. The longest speech you have to make is 4.5-5 min which isn't bad. no hw or tests. just make sure u dont miss a lot of classes and you should do fine. Overall, very easy class!

Prof. Serlin is great! From day one, his ability to get everyone comfortable and in the mood to learn is superb. He is a great prof. The class is always fun. At first, I'm afraid of speaking in front of class, but after I took this class, I don't mind speaking in public anymore. He's an easy prof. He is such a funny professor. From the first day of class, I knew it was going to be a fun semester. Out of all my classes, I always looked forward to attending his class. No tests, just some easy five minute speeches to do with powerpoint presentations. Don't come in late, be respectful, do the easy work, and you'll get an "A". He's a must take!

Great class took online. The hardest thing is to get the audience together. Keep up with deadlines. Try to have work submitted before due date and you should be fine.

Very helpful and very nice. Class was really hard to do online, I suggest taking this class at the college. Got a B, but this grade doesn't reflect the professor. I would definitely recommend him.

This was my first online class and once you get your way around the syllabus and you know where to find your assignments, its a breeze! It was tough getting audience members together but it's all about an open schedule and he is very lenient with grading. he does NOT accept late work but he is very helpful if you need it! I recommend!

He is very funny tells you about his experiences which you can learn from. Come to class on time and pay attention you will learn. Never start you speech with "I am about to talk about" poor starting. Great professor took him class setting.

I would definitely recommend! Easy A, and an easier grader. 3 speeches, several discussions and quizzes and a group project. Earned a B because I didn't do the last speech. That's fine.

Online Class: 3 Recorded Speeches in front of 8 people. This is probrably the most dificult part of the class. Don't forget to do your discussions and feed back, if you forget your grade does drop a bit. Just Keep up with assignments and youll be ok.

If you do all the work , this class is an easy A. He responds to emails within 24 hours and he's laid-back. The quizzes are OK, you just need to read the free textbook he puts online. There is a group project at the end. The only hard part was finding 8 people to record your speech with. No final or midterm!

The hardest part of this class is finding 6 people to give your speeches too. Despite "definite improvement" in my speeches (professor's feedback), I was given the same grade for each one. Like most online profs., he doesn't really care. There are discussions and quizzes, plus a final group PowerPoint (easy if you collaborate using OneDrive).

Professor Serlin is very fair. It is important to follow his syllabus, or you will lose points. There are no finals, so you must do all of the discussions and speechless. Very easy A if you make sure to do the work.

He is very kind, answers emails very fast. Very understanding. But there is a contract of rules and you have to follow them.

Professor Serlin is a gem. He gives great feedback and really wants to see you pass. He levels with his students and talks to them like human beings. I ignored the syllabus and his many "no exception" announcements about our final, screwed it up and got a zero. He still let me redo it because he didn't want me to fail. He saved my GPA. Take him!

He has a very specific sense of humor that not everyone likes, but he has good intentions and if you give him respect he will move mountains for you. Took him fall of 2018 and he made our class such a relaxing place. I learned a lot from professor Gary.

Professor Serlin is very patient and easy. He made a public speaking class a breeze. Just make sure you have six people to give your final speech in front of, if you take him online.

I had Professor Serlin for my online SPC1024 class and he was amazing! He was very generous when grading the three speeches and the speech outlines and reaction papers. There were about 5 quizzes and discussions but they were all very easy and his class is an easy A in my opinion. He was very generous, especially since we are dealing with the virus

Professor Serlin was the only professor who took into account that we are living through a pandemic, he was very helpful and even offered his time to talk to students if they need someone at the moment. Besides that the class in itself is pretty straight forward, do the assignments which are pretty simple & submit your speeches and youll get an A

Professor Serlin is a very sweet Porfessor and very understanding. I took this class during COIVD-19 and it was one of the easiest classes. Don't listen to the negative comments on here. Easy A! If you do the work you are guaranteed to pass. I took this online class in fall 2020. Our first assignment was an introductory speech. Second assignment is a group project for an informative speech. Third assignment is persuasive speech. Speeches must be recorded and uploaded online. Rest of the classwork are easy quizzes. Submit on time.

Follow the rubrics/syllabus & you will be successful. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit large video sizes for assignments as it may take hours to upload, which may cause missing deadlines. However, you can upload videos to youtube and submit the link for review, which helped me submit my final speech video before the deadline

Professor Serlin was a pleasure to have. If you are not dedicated to his clear and concise expectations on the syllabus, do not take his class. The majority of your grade is on 3 rough drafts and final filmed speeches. The final speech requires an audience of 6 adults with no exceptions or he will fail you. He emails back quick & extremely kind!

Loved this teacher. Everything was straightforward and easy. I would definitely take him as a teacher. His about me was also very funny. Seems like a great professor to have in person. Super easy workload, don't procrastinate on the speeches, there are only 3 of them in the year, they have to be recorded, and for two of them you need an audience.
