my advice is not to take this class unless you are proficient in ebonics b/c you will not be able to understand him if you arent. also, you'd think he would atleast be able to pronounce the vocabulary correctly. according to him, certiorari is pronounced sertitchi. he stumbled over it for a few mins
One doesn't need to be fluent in ebonics to understand Mr. Shoats. If you were to simply open your book while he taught, you'd see that he always teaches straight from the chapters you were supposed to have read the night before. He is intelligent and opinionated and still cracks some great jokes during class!~ I believe he loves what he does.
He is a great proffesor, hilariosly funny and provides information that you can relate to your life and experiences. I have really enjoyed his class and his teaching style.
Do not need to know ebonics to understand, but does have a unique way of pronouncing certain words. Context usually explains meaning. Easy class if you read the material and attend lectures. Personal on-the-job stories connect principals to real life. Makes jokes. Tests easy if you read the book and attended class.
He is very funny.i found the exams confusing two of the answers always looked right.the notes basically he reads the book out loud to you.the exams were hard.does not offer extra credit.only 3 exams and a final.his final is a copy & paste from the old exams so i would highlight your notes after the exam to help you.i would not recommend him.
I got a B in his class and probably attended about 70% of the time. He isn't exactly clear about what is going to be on the test so you have to read the book and study. He is very knowledgable about his subject matter. He also uses a lot of profanity which I don't appreciate.
You do not need to take ebonics to understand this professor, but you will need to be able to understad words in context b/c there are many mispronunciations. Overall he reads straight from the book and if you read and follow notes, you will pass. His class is uproariously funny and he relates his experiences in such a way that you will understand
No ebonics prerequisite. But the class is pretty easy if you show up and take notes. The material is straight from the book, but you can always share so you don't really need one. He's willing to work with you if you actually try. Overall the class is an easy A. Oh and he's nice :)
He is a great teacher. He uses his life experience to teach so you can relate. I liked him a lot because I always felt like a better person when I left his class. I now try to treat EVERYONE with dignity. His class was fun and pretty easy if you attend. Sometimes it's hard to tell where he's leading you with a question but I learned a lot.
He is not the best professor but not the worst either. Just avearge, average class and test. He can be a bit rude sometimes but most of the times he is just allrgight
Makes class fun and interesting. Teaches straight from book, so read ahead to understand. Basically: read and you'll go far.
He's hilarious...and easy as long as you come to class....and humor him by simply reading before class b/c he really enjoys class discussions and for everyone to participate.
His class lectures come straight from the book. always read the chapter before class starts, he likes the class to read the material before hand so that he can initiate class discussions. He is very funny, and always makes you think about not judging people based on their appearance or demeanor. I LOVED THIS CLASS...read the book = an A in class
He is definitely funny, but will go on and on and on about anyone who is late and about reading the book. Actually takes a good bit of time away from classes to moan and complain about not reading. Otherwise he is very funny and nice. His tests are tricky and include material that was talked about in class, but u can make a B w/out ever going.
Absolutely god-awful. If you're going to be a lackadaisacal prof, at least be nice! this guy is a DOUCHEBAG. When i took his class, an older male student deservedly cussed him out for being so rude to us. Not to mention his test questions are ambiguous (1/2 the time not even grammatically correct). i made a B all bc the way he words his questions.
easist A ive ever made just take notes in class and listen. funniest guy ever.
ill tell ya one thing, definitely never met a bigger JERK than gary shoats.
Class is easy & fun. He does tell a lot of stories & can come across as offensive to some. His test are another thing. Some of the questions have you questioning yourself on what the answer may be. You feel two answers could be correct not one & the other maybe. Your grade is based on 3 test plus final unless you have A going into the final.
This "easy A" class was not so easy. I barely pulled out a B and i attended regularly, took notes and made study guides. 3 tests, very tricky! Most of class is spent telling pointless stories rather than covering the material. This class made me never want to go into law enforcement or pursue further study in criminal justice.
Great professor, extremely funny. This had to be one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. You cannot fail this class if you read and take notes. He is helpful when it comes to taking test and answering questions. Overall, he makes the class fun. I took it over the Summer but the workload was extremely light. fun and easy A
Great Professor. Show up to class and take notes. Group discussions. He expects respect just like everyone else does.
i loved this class. if you have an 'a' you exempt the final which is easy to do. he does not take attendance so most of the class stopped showing up. dont grip about a great class is youre too lazy to go. he also gives extra credit and he is hilarious. if i get the chance i will take him again.
This professor is not the best. But, it depends on who you are. Sometimes I would ask questions because I did not understand what he said and he would act as though I was insulting him personally. He also spent a good amount of class time complaining how people don't read the book.
Very funny guy & knows his CJ. Attendance not mandatory, but he notices when people are out & will call you out on it. Tells you not to buy book if you wont use it but spends about 10 mins each class complaining/joking around bc no one read. I would buy the book. Majority of ppl who had it made A's. He makes the class fun. Definitely take him.
Very good professor! If you do not get an A in the class it is 100% your fault. Go to class, read the book, and always attend the class before the test. He gives you enough information in the review to get around a 70 on the test and you are responsible for the rest. My lowest grade was a 94. Funny guy and always kept my attention!
Great teacher, easy class. All you have to do is attend and take notes and you should at least get a B. Actually read the book, you'll get an A. A C or less is your own fault. He makes lectures interesting, engaging, and he's a funny guy. Definitely take his class.
His class is very easy. It's almost hard to do poorly. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend you go at least one time for every 3 classes. READ THE BOOK and you will be fine. There are only 4 tests including the final and those are the only grades so make sure you study but overall, easy A!
Not really easy. You MUST read, he will make class really uneasy if you don't read and may call you out. Tests require more than just reading and you should go to at least 75% of the classes. Classes may vary from being informative to telling stories and going off subject. Not my favorite class but I'm glad I'm done with him.
Decent guy, but does not go off of his own notes for the class. Only grades for class are exams. Does not use georgiavista. Whether you pass or not is on you. Pretty much need to teach yourself out of the book instead of his power points. I would pick another professor if I had to do it again.
Really a fairly simple class. Problem is the only grades are the 3 tests then the final. Your grade is up to you. Use the book more, his powerpoints do suck. Pay attention when he changes the time of the final! I went with whats on the KSU website and it was wrong. He chewed me out and almost wouldn't let me take the final.
Professor Shoats is hilarious and made going to class fun. The person complaining about almost missing the final obviously doesn't pay attention b/c Shoats clearly stated what time the final was at. Class notes come directly from the book. Just SHOW UP to class and pay attention. Try to participate in class discussions.
This class was AMAZING! He was very knowledgeable. If you attend class, he tells you what's on the test. I attended every class without reading the book much and made a B. If you put a little studying into what he teaches, you would make an easy A. 3 exams is your grade. He's laid back and if I were a CJ major, I'd take him for ALL my classes.
Good teacher. Basically reads the power points which are mostly from the book. Grade is your average of 4 tests and if you have a 90 by the last one you can exempt the final. Very laid back and cool, just not an amazing teacher.
Very funny and relatable guy! Attendance is not mandatory, but definitely helpful. You can follow his lectures along with the book. Study your notes and vocabulary for tests! 3 exams and an optional final if you have an A in the class. If you out forth the necessary effort, it will be easy and enjoyable. I loved him.
Great teacher. He kept information relatable to current events. He incur ages class discussions & respects all point of view. Book was not mandatory, but attending class & taking notes is YOUR BEST IDEA! Very enjoyable class.
Cool teacher i recommend you take him during the summer he is fair and understanding that it is summer break. Made a B because i totally forgot about a test, my fault not his but i enjoyed learn. Previously worked in Criminal Justice so he knows his stuff. Easy A if you do not forget a test lol.
He is an awesome teacher and keeps students engaged. You can tell he wants his readers to learn. He gets mad when people are on their phones, so don't try texting. He's funny and nice. The 3 tests you have are super easy. Class isn't mandatory, but I recommend going. It's not boring and he hints what's on the test in the notes he gives during class
Easy A. Notes come straight from the book. If you have an A average at the end of the class, you're exempt from the finals. He expects people to read the book and gets upset when they don't. Ex law enforcement so he knows his stuff. Nice & Funny guy. Also be aware of whats going on in the news. He relates that to the class as well.
The absolute BEST professor I've taken at Kennesaw. Really down-to-earth guy. Makes class fun and keeps everyone entertained. Basically gives you every question that is on the test before you take it. Has a lot of real world experience in the criminal justice field. Attendance not mandatory but he is so cool, he makes you want to come to class. A+
This class was the easiest and most entertaining class I've taken so far. The professor makes the class enjoyable because he is hilarious, but he also knows his stuff. Only grades are 3 tests but he gives answers to most of the questions on the test prior to it. You can exempt final with an A. Great class, and easy A. I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed taking this class. Professor Shoats was nice and made it very clear what to expect on exams. If you get a 90 or above on 3 test average your exempt from the final.
Professor Shoats is a great professor. His stories from his previous work in law enforcement helps make the class more interesting and helps you connect the ideas. His class is extremely easy to get an A in as long as you attend. There are only 3 tests and final which you can exempt if you have a 90+ average after the third test. He is a great guy.
Easy if you come to class. Tests come straight from the notes. Exempt the final with a 90. I enjoyed this class; he makes learning fun.
Super easy! Attendance NOT MANDATORY! Class consists of notes and discussion mainly by him! 4 tests including the final. Can exempt final if have A average at the end of three tests. Will round up if you talk to him and you in the A/B grade category. Gives you tests ? in notes and test review. reads the tests ? class before the test. Easy content!
Awesome teacher if you pay attention and participate! Makes clear notes.
easy A! you have 3 tests and 1 final. you can exempt the final if you have an A average. no need to buy the book, he goes through the notes and tells you what questions he will ask on the test. the day before test day, he reads you the questions AND answers to the test. EASY A!!!!
Awesome professor. He tells great stories that go along with the class. He's very good at applying real world situations to the class. Very fuinny, too. He doesn't take attendance, but if you show up & take notes, you don't even have to buy the book. If you have an A average after the first 3 tests, you get an A in the class.
Professor Shoats is absolutely awesome, he literally tells you what will be on the test every day. And the day before the test he gives you like 15 answers from the test. If you show up every day you will get an A, If you only show up the day before the test and the day of the test you get a B. Didn't like his viewpoints but he's a great teacher!
Shoats was a funny professor. I enjoyed going to his class. Everyday would consist of power points to take notes from. We talked about a lot of current events and it was just an interesting class. Tests were kind of tough for me but I did not study as I should have. He does give out plenty of tests questions. Not all but a good amount.
Mr. Shoats is awesome! His lectures are always hilarious, but you do write (or type) a lot! If you attend class, you will pass. He loves to communicate with people and have fun, so I recommend this class to everyone! Class was NEVER boring!!
Professor Shoats has many real life stories that help relate to the course material. He talks to the class not at them. He is energetic, and makes learning current events enjoyable. I love going to his class. It is more like a coffer break every morning with a wealth of information. Never a dull moment in class. He engages with the entire class!
Probably my favorite professor at Kennesaw. He's super funny, relates the material to situations happening today, and make you WANT to come to class. I've never said "ugh time to go to criminal justice." He makes you want to learn more and participate in class and answers any questions you ask him.
Professor Shoats is one of the best professors I have ever had. He engages with the class, answers questions for clarity, tells real life stories and current events to relate to each topic! If you get the opportunity take him, you will not regret it! You will enjoy going to class, you leave every class refreshed, he makes learning fun!!
Best college professor I have had so far! He might seem intimidating, but is honestly the most helpful and informative professor I have had. You will definitely enjoy going to class and he is very generous with grades. Take him!!
BEST professor by far! He makes his lectures very interesting and engages his students. You're exempt from the final if you have an A average in the class. Tests aren't hard if you study since they come straight from his lectures and PowerPoint. Definitely would take him again if I could.
Very easy professor. Lets you exempt class. He makes you wait until everyone is done to get your tests back and does not put anything in the grade book. He degrades your opinion if it is different from his. If you can put up with his ignorance, easy A+.
Professor Shoats is the bomb. His lectures are awesome because he is hilarious. He gives 3 tests and if you have an A average on them you don't have to take the final. He also tells you when something will be on the test so you should already know about half the answers before you even receive the test. He also knows his stuff, he used to be a cop
Professor Shoats is probably my favorite professor so far. If you go to class and take good notes, you should have no problem getting an A. If you have an A average before the final, you don't have to take it. He is hilarious and knows what he's talking about. He also talks about current events too which makes the class more interesting.
Professor Shoats's class is great! Class isn't mandatory and you can pass without showing up IF YOU READ the textbook. If you come to class everyday you don't need the textbook. Tests are not difficult. There are 3 tests and a final but if you have an A you can exempt the final. Don't bother emailing him about anything because he wont respond. EVER
COME TO CLASS! BE ON TIME! (Literally just do it!) He's a great professor who is very entertaining all while assuring you understand the material! He gives tons of real life examples in which makes his lectures even more clear! Don't be afraid to ask questions... He enjoys that!
Take his class if you can, one of the greatest teachers/professors I have ever had. Just show up to class and pass.
I love Mr. Shoats class! He's HILARIOUS and he tells a ton of stories from his days as a cop. If you're a criminal justice major, I HIGHLY recommend him. His class is so easy and if you have an A by the time the final comes, you don't have to take it!
There are only 3 tests all semester long and if you average above a 90 on all three you don't have to take the final. Attendance isn't mandatory but helpful because he will explain all test material. Textbook is required but do not purchase if you don't plan on reading outside class. Interesting lectures, funny, would take again
favorite professor so far. he's hilarious! gives great lectures and tells lots of interesting stories.
favorite professor so far. he's hilarious and his lectures are always very interesting. attendance isn't mandatory but i recommend showing up because all the information is given in class.
Easy A. 3 test, if you have a A after the 3rd year you don't have to take the final. Grammar on test is awful and sometimes confusing. But, he basically tells you what's on the test. Attendance isn't mandatory but he doesn't put anything online. Either show up to class or have someone who will send you good notes and you'll ace it. Crazy easy.
Best professor! He is super entertaining and loves to teach the class. No way you cant get an A. 3 Test and if you have an A average then you don't have to take the final. He literally gives you answers to half the tests. Attendance is not mandatory but GO TO CLASS. All test questions come from the notes so the textbook isn't necessary. Super easy!
An easy A if you go to class and take notes. Professor Shoats is hilarious and makes the class very interesting. I would take him for more classes if I could!
By far my favorite professor this past semester! Go to every class or have someone send you notes. Notes are not posted to D2l to it is a motivation to go to class and take notes from his powerpoints. 50 multiple choice easy questions. I got a B in the class but it is definitely an easy A. HIGHLY recommend
Four exams (only 3 if you have an A average or better by the time for the 4th test), very funny makes you look at situations differently. He is open to others opinions and even encourages questioning him. All in all he is a great prof. and i would 100% take him again. You'd be dumb to miss out on an easy A
If you have an A then you don't have to take the final/ come to class after the 3rd test. hilarious, engaging, super helpful. gives you many answers to questions before the tests. If you show up and pay attention then review notes it is an easy A. He hates when people don't talk. Don't buy the book it isn't helpful. tests are straight from lecture.
Professor Shoats class is extremely easy as long as you show up to class, he basically gives you the answers to the test before hand. Funny guy, only complaint is that he can be very very politically liberal at times, seemingly unaware of what state he lives in. Oh and don't buy the book you won't need it.
Favorite teacher hands down, didn't have to take the final after the third test. You're missing out if you don't sign up for his class. Don't buy the book - test questions come from lecture. Doesn't take attendance, but make sure to stay the entire class time before a test because he gives out answers!
CRJU2105: An amazing Professor! I would take him again very easy doesn't try to make material difficult to learn like some professors, he wants you to understand and succeed. There are 4 multiple choice tests but you only have to take 3 if you get a 90% or better on the first 3. There is no way u can fail. EASY, EASY, EASY!!
Awesome awesome professor. Used to be a police officer and has some amazing and hilarious stories. Im a CRJU major so i have to take this class anyways, but Im so glad i signed up for his class. He makes class super interesting. 4 tests, if you have an A you dont have to take the 4th test. teaches off powerpoints but makes the lectures interesting
Literally the best teacher at KSU. Mr shoats is hilarious, and makes the class so fun with his stories. if you show upto class, there is no way you can get below a B. he pretty much gives you all the test answers, and if you have an A on every test before the final you do not have to take it. NO QUIZZES, NO PROJECTS, NO HOMEWORK. best class ever.
If you come to class, you can make an A. Sometimes he is rude and although, he says he wants discussion, he always deems h is right at the end. Don't come late to class because he will lock you out of the room.
Gary Shoats is hilarious and such a great teacher! He is very clear on what is on the test and if you study your notes you'll pass the class. There is no homework and attendance is not mandatory but this class is really enjoyable to go too. I would definitely take this class again. Don't show up late to class though, either go or don't.
Best teacher, hands down.
I loved this class. It was an 8am, but it was completely worth it and I wouldn't have missed it! He makes all the material relatable and he truely cares and takes time to make sure everything is understood. He also reads his reviews on here, so hi Professor Shoats! I wish he taught more classes I needed!
You only have 4 tests. No extra credit. He only goes over the lectures in class but does not put them on D2L. He asks for your opinion on current events but tells you your opinion is wrong.
He was awesome! He totally gets that 1101 is a gen ed class, but also teaches the class in a way that makes it fun to learn new things! Love it. Would take it again.
Professor Shoats is one of my top professors! He is really respectful to his students but he expects respect back. Go to his lectures, they are filled with a lot of important and good things to know! I have taken him twice now and he grades very very fairly and wants all of his students to succeed.
He doesn't require you to go to class, but his exams are based on the lectures he does in class (no textbook). His exams are also very straightforward, doesn't try to trick you. He is hilarious, and really allows everyone to discuss their opinions. Your grade is 3 exams and a final which can be exempt if you have an A in the class. Great teacher!
I had him for intro to criminal justice and this class was the most fun class of my college career. he makes all lectures interesting and funny, because he is always making jokes. You don't have to read the textbook unless you want to better understand the topics. There was a total of 4 tests and thats it, so if you study for them it is an easy A.
He is one of the best prof Ive had not only does he makes the material relatable and easy to understand but he also did not give out essays or hmwk. If you go to class and study you can get an easy A. Class is not mandatory but if you dont go you will need read the book.
Professor Shoats makes the class relatable and has a wake to make you engage. In Police in America there was never a dull moment, one 5 page paper and a midterm & final. If you show up to class and listen to lectures you will pass. Plus he's hilarious but if you're conservative you may not agree with his views as he's more liberal. Easy A/B class.
Professor Shoats is a funny guy and a great professor. The class was really easy and fun, and I'd take it again. You learn a lot in his class as long as you show up and jot down a few notes. He's very clear about what you will need to know for the class. I never opened my textbook. I never wrote a paper. I never studied for longer than 2 hrs. 10/10
Very funny, great professor, wish he taught more classes would take again. Class is very easy just show up, pay attention, and take a couple notes. Clear on what you need to know and what is expected. 0 complaints, 10/10 recommend
Overall, a good professor. He will often move tests and is slightly unorganized, but if you show up, take notes and review for tests, there's no reason why you shouldn't AT LEAST get a B. Also, you have virtually no hope of getting an email returned, but he is very approachable in person.
Professor Shoats is truly an amazing professor. As a former police officer, he knows the criminal justice system and has so many interesting stories about his experiences as a cop that really add to the class. There were 3 tests and a final, if you had an A after the 3 tests, you didn't have to take the final! EASY if you pay attention!!
His class was super easy. The only grades were 3 easy tests. We took notes off a PowerPoint every single day. You don't need to buy the textbook because the PowerPoints are straight from the book. A lot of the times, he told us exactly what to write and what was gonna be a test question. He's a super cool and funny guy. My favorite professor so far
Professor Shoats is absolutely hilarious. I managed to have him in a smaller class, and he really tries to make sure you understand the material. His test are super easy, during class hell tell you This will be on the test which is awesome. Skipping isnt recommended, most people that skipped did poorly on tests. Dont really need the book.
3 tests and a final are the only grades. Show up to class and take notes and you won't have to do anything else. The class before every test, he tells you what 75% of the test's questions. Just go over your notes and it's an easy A on top of getting to learn some great tips about the police. He keeps you interested while in class, great teacher.
I love Gary Shoats! Definitely made me feel more confident in my major and I am always excited to show up. He is hilarious and really helps you think from other perspectives. Show up, take notes, and he basically tells you what will be on the test. I love him, and I am so sad I can't take this class again!
He's an amazing professor. He uses a lot of powerpoints, however he relates it to his experiences and real world situations. If you have the chance to take him I highly reccomend it!
Best professor Ive ever had, he does PowerPoints for every chapter but you have to come to class to get the information on them, but its worth it. Going to his class will determine if you pass or not, he gives real life examples and can really relate to everyone
Such an amazing teacher he uses Power Points only, so make sure you go to class to get all the information. He tells you what is going to be on the test, and gives life examples to help you understand the material more. I love him, and wish I could take him for my other classes. Such an amazing teacher!
Literally so freaking awesome, amazing guy - amazing teacher. HIGHLY recommend
Great class. Very interesting and I was always was looking forward to going. He teaches all the material needed for the test.
he's a super cool and chill guy. makes criminal justice easy and uses analogies for young people to understand. everything you need to know is in the power points (but he doesn't post them online). has a couple of pop quizzes, but they're just for extra credit. if you put the notes in a Quizlet and master that, you're fine on the tests.
TAKE HIM!!! he is the funnest teacher& WOKEEE!! his lectures are easy to understand by giving real story examples when he was once a police officer. He doesn't post notes on D2L so dont skip, but i honestly go just for fun because his class is amazing even though he was my 9am! No homework, tests are super easy if you quizlet study.
Gary Shoats is a good professor. He starts class by discussing current events, then shows powerpoints and tells personal stories that relate to them. He's very funny and energetic, which keeps class interesting. Doesn't use D2L and the only grades are the 3 exams + Final, which you only have to take if you don't have an A.
Prof. Shoats is great!! Funny and applies real life scenarios to his lectures! Respects and treats you like an adult. Tells you test questions and gives you review he is very honest. Grade is only test so go to class or make sure you have notes!
Professor Shoats is by far my favorite professor at KSU! Hes lectures are amazing and hes super considerate!
Easily my best prof ive ever had. We went online cause of COVID, and he made a hard time easier. 4 tests, if you have an A average on first 3 you're exempted from the final. Need to be in class, or get notes. If you're there, you'll get an A. checks in on us, and could not ask for a better professor. If you gt the chance- take him!! Book online
Gary Shoats is a really caring professor! He makes class engaging and is really nice! Even though I had him at 8am, this professor was worth it. I would recommend showing up to class and studying the material, obviously. If you get an average of an A on all three tests, you get exempt from the final.
Inspiring lectures, great stories/advice, solid teaching method. Would definitely recommend.
We only did four exams, but if you had an A in the class he exempted you from the final. No other assignments period! I got the book but didn't open it once. He goes through PowerPoint lectures and will literally say "This will be on the test". He is open to student suggestions and loves participation. (This course was taken during the pandemic)
There is a lot of material for this class but the teacher is very educated and cares about his students. He makes the class easy and only grades by tests. All the tests were open notes so not passing the class is very hard to do.
This was probably one of the easiest classes I've taken. All you have to do is make sure you take notes and do good on the tests. There are 3 tests and a final but if you have an A in the class, you are exempted from the final. Dr. Shoats himself is a very chill and laid back professor but also hilarious.
Professor Shoats is a cool professor. In his lectures, he makes them engaging by use of humor. If youre looking for an easy A, take his class! All we had to do was take notes and take tests. The tests are pretty easy but sometimes when he makes the tests the answers may not be accurate. Also, he does not respond to his emails.
Easy A, he is less focused on grades and more focused on you taking something important away from the class. He engages with the class and lectures are filled with his experiences in the field. A very intelligent and kind professor!
Professor Shoats is a good teacher, very respectful of everyone's opinions. He is an African-American ex-cop, which gave me a different perspective on the CJ system. There is no textbook. I took this class at KSU Marietta, due to RMP. It was so worth the drive, I enjoyed this class so much. He won't test you on material you haven't seen.
Might be the easiest and most entertaining gen ed in existence. Professor Shoats quite literally tells you the answers to the test during lectures. All you have to do is show up to class. Professor Shoats is also really funny and understanding. There is never a dull moment :D.
This is my favorite/easiest class I've ever taken. There are 3 tests which are online and open note. The questions come word for word from the notes. If you have an A average you exempt the final. No homework. The prof is super entertaining.
Amazing class. Discussion heavy class. Best part of class was the debates on current events (they can get heavy.) Class comprised of 3 tests and a final (Youre exempt from the final if you have a 90 avg or above.) Very funny professor and respects everyones opinion but wont fail to voice his own. Has a problem with cutting people off though.
he is definitely my favorite professor. his lectures are good and not only does he teach us but he also helps us with life and gives great advice. if u want an easy A, take him fasho
He is an amazing professor. His class is extremely easy and there is only 3 exams, if you have an A after those 3 exams the final is optional. He likes to have discussions and debates so don't be shy to express your opinions to him. There were many classes where we would almost debate the entire class instead of doing lecture. He is a great profess
Professor Shoats is such a great professor! He always includes the class in his lecture and he gives you everything you need for the test. Just go to lecture and you will have an A.
I learned a lot & easy A. I went to all of his lectures because they're very enjoyable and definitely help with the tests. He wants to share his stories and connect with the students more than making you work for a grade. Typos on every test that "we should've just known what he meant." I would miss questions because of them so that was annoying.
Professor Shoats is a great professor, he's incredibly knowledgeable in his field, as he is a former police officer. His class is graded on three exams and he allowed students who had a 90 or above average exempt the final. He also awards points on weekly reflections via discussions on D2L.
Such an interesting professor! Class was always so fun to attend, as he made sure we were all engaged, and understanding of the material. 3 tests and a final, but if you get an average of 270 points before the final you're exempt. Such a funny professor who is very knowledgeable about the things he talks about from experience.
Professor Shoats is a Great Professor. His class was very east only 3 tests and a final. Class is not mandatory but you do need to take the notes and no he does not post them on D2L you would have to go to class. Very funny and uses real Life examples from his past experience as a police Officer. Would definitely recommend!
TAKE HIM! He is my favorite professor! He keeps things real and gives amazing personal experiences. The class is super easy, just go to class and take notes, (he goes over the entire textbook so don't buy it).The class is only graded on 3 tests that are online and open note. If you have an average 90 after the 3 tests you don't take the final.
all the tests are open note. didn't show up to class after the first week and still got an A, however, he is a little unprofessional and does not answer emails. the class was super easy though
Amazing Professor
Kind person, retired cop, knows what he's talking about
Mr. Shoats was amazing! Funniest professor I have ever had, and his lectures are a lot of fun. Definitely take him!
Professor Shoats is one of the best professors at KSU. He is a great person and wants you to understand the topic instead of memorizing it. I highly recommend his class.
grades consist of 3 test and a final. No lockdown/webcam. Great professor and easy A.
Great professor, doesn't make the class very hard.
Sent the syllabus over email, 2 weeks into the semester (aka past the add-drop period). Never communicates, impossible to get ahold of, doesn't post ANYTHING, no rubrics or grading criteria... Absolutely sucks.
Engaging lectures and easy A. Professor Shoats makes the class fun with his stories and discussions. Unstuckstudy was a great study tool alongside the lecture slides.
Professor Shoats was great! Take this class if you like laid back professors, his stories about his experiences made the content relatable and digestible. No homework, 3 exams and if you had an A average after those 3 you were exempt from the final.
This class was very fun and easy. You have to read the textbook/go to lectures to get an A in this class. Grading is three exams, a final, and an essay, but if you have an A average by the end of the third exam, you get to opt out of the final and the essay. He does not respond to emails, so if you have a question you need to go to class.
I took his 4000 CRJU class. This class was super easy and he did not take attendance. You were only graded on four exams that were all online with no lockdown. I would for sure take this professor again!
LOVE LOVE LOVVEE!!! This man is so funny!!! Your grade is made up of 4 easy exams and thats it!! TAKE HIM!!!!!
your entire grade is based on three tests throughout the semester, but he prepares you well and the questions are very clear. he's super funny and engaging with stories (he's a retired cop) and anecdotes!! attendance isn't mandatory but he notices when you show up and it's just notes every class
