Do the homework, show up, pay attention in class, and review the slides. The cumulative final required a LOT of studying as no study guide was provided. Went to office hours for help and professor was condescending, saying "this was covered in class," "do not miss class," etc. Did not like her personally after that, but overall an interesting class
She's really passionate about physics, she set up small experiments before every class and was always so excited to do them. There are four exams, you can drop one and then a final. The material was pretty easy but sometimes her exam questions were tricky. I hated physics but this class wasn't bad at all.
She was a very fun and refreshing teacher to have. Always ready and excited to teach and answer questions, as well as demonstrate concepts through different experiments and set-ups. Her clumsiness and overall quirky personality kept the class, if not interested, at least awake. The tests are pretty clear if you attend class and review the homework.
Puts the power-points online. Only went to class for the 4 tests (she drops the lowest). Lectures are long. If you never touch the book and only review the multiple choice questions and ppts, you'll probably get an A.
Standard deviation grading system. Do average & pass. 3 total exams and homework assignments online. Does not drop any exams but they're fair. She posts reviews and assignments that will help you get an A. Exams consist of 25 questions in which about 19 are conceptual and the rest is math. People complain about her accent but its clear. Passionate.
Power point lectures put on canvas along with long HW packets with answers, that are for test review. Basically, learn the review questions pass the tests, even without attending class. Hint The book does help! Grade is only 3 tests and the exam, lowest test grade is dropped. If you go to class be prepared to not understand much of what is said.
Lectures and test review packets are put online look over and know what you are doing on those and you will pass. She is very passionate about physics and it shows through her in-class demonstrations however she is very difficult to understand. 3 tests, lowest one dropped and the exam is your grade. Hint: Use the book for clarification.
simple, she is not a teacher you want, she is what you call plan z teacher. there is always 100 seats open in her class so no worries if you are late. accent too heavy you probably will not understand her. i thought that oh accent wont be an issue IT IS. you have only two exams and a final. she loves physics but not students. DO NOT TAKE HER
Mastering, 2 exams, 1 cumulative final, & most q's are from her review problems. When I had issues with her review problems, I'd send her a pic of my work & she'd reply promptly. The problem is the whole no formula sheet thing, which makes it very difficult in the class. Don't need to show up but the demos sorta help. I'd take her as a last resort.
If you have never taken physics, don't take this class. Tests are hard and reviews aren't very similar. I'm fairly good in Physics but the way everything is set up really knocks you off. Many people I knew either withdrewfailed. Surprisingly, I would highly recommend calculus based physics, (retook that class and got a B+).
I would definitely take this class again. Lectures didn't help me that much: spoke quickly over difficult concepts (not mandatory). Watch Khan Academy. Homework is minimal through mastering physics (10Qweek). No formula sheet on exams, but the exams were very reasonable! Mostly conceptual: about 70-80% of exam. Extremely helpful one on one.
HORRIBLE. Doesn't teach, just reads slides. E.g's are directly from the book. LAZY! Refuses to do other e.g's when students don't understand. Thinks students should know everything and says everything is easy although she doesn't teach it. Thick Indian accent. Doesn't care about students. Takes out important slides before posting notes. AVOID!!!
Professor Pradhan is boring. She only reads the information from her slides. Getting a good score is easy. You only need to do her homework review questions to pass. However, she is not as helpful outside of class.
VERY thick accent, slides aren't helpful. The mastering physics homework is easy and helps to study for the test, but is graded harshly. Tests are 70-80% conceptual and only 20-25 problems. She is very rude when you ask a question. She loves what she teaches. DO THE PRACTICE PACKETS. A lot of test questions are directly from them.
I love this class. You really do need to study in order to pass though. All of her questions come from the slides and homework packets so make sure you study over and over. she is really nice. I've been to her office hours a couple times and shes always been willing to help. She cares about helping our her students.
She does not do enough practice/example problems in class. For it being very math based, she hardly wrote anything on the board. She expects you to know what she's talking about. Her teaching style is to basically repeat the book, which I happened to learn more from, and to do demonstrations as if that will help you understand calculations.
I thought this class was incredibly boring. Pradhan does try to make it more interesting by doing a lot of demonstrations. Her accent is thick. She puts study guides on canvas that test questions are word-for-word from. There are only 4 tests. 3 Exams and 1 Final. The lowest exam grade is dropped.
There are 3 tests and 1 final, and the lowest of the first 3 is dropped. Go to class and take notes on important things. It will be pretty obvious what needs to be written down. Other than that, simply memorize the homework she posts, it is almost verbatim. The first test was hardest because I didn't know about this. The lectures are long but cool.
There were 3 total test, 2 exams and the final. She put plenty of test questions as practice questions for the class but takes those questions out of the slides when she posts the notes online. So if you come to class you'll have an advantage. The homework helps a lot as well. I have never had physics before this class and I got a B.
There is a major language barrier. The speaks very fast and isn't clear. You need to come to class because she deletes PPTs that are helpful for exams. I wouldn't take this teacher due to her heavy accent. She is nice but too hard to understand.
She is a bit hard to understand at first, but once you get used to her accent it isn't an issue. I took the problem solving class with her, which definitely improved my grade. Also, the practice problems posted online are VERY similar to the tests.
3 tests based on T-scores. Accent thick, but you quickly get used to it. Do all practice problems (very similar to tests), and you'll be fine. Got 100, 92, and 96 on tests. Homework on-line very lenient on. Other people in my class, HATED her. For me, easiest class in a long time. Problems with math? Solution - problems and lots of them.
Nice, answers questions, optional homework (though i recommend doing it, as the questions are very close to what's on the quizzes), overall easy course material.
Very nice and you can tell she really does try to make lectures interesting. But the fact is she reads the slides so lectures are pointless. Tests are very easy and she grades based on curve. Best way to ace this class is read the book and finish all the examples at the end of chapters.
Pradhan is the professor you want to take if you have prior physics knowledge either through AP or IB. She doesn't use clicker grades so attendance isn't mandatory, so if you can learn on your own you don't have to go to class at all. There were only 2 tests and 1 final that are worth 90% of your final grade. She uses a T-score curve.
While she is nice, her class is very confusing. It's sometimes hard to understand the point she is trying to get across. She does some practice problems but only on the whiteboard, which is hard to read. Some tips: READ/STUDY THE POWERPOINTS AND THE BOOK! That's how I passed the tests/class
I NEVER rate professors until after Finals' week as a rule of thumb so I can have a wide base of experiences to evaluate. However, I was literally forced to drop this course within the first two days. She is a lovely person but a horrible teacher, I would not learn the alphabet from Dr. Pradhan. Ridicules students, rushes and teaches lazy. Nope.
Attendance is suggested but after the first class, people drop like flies. There are weekly quizzes up for a short period of time (10%) and 4 major tests (90% of grade). Hard to understand material and her accent. She tends to rush through lectures and examples very quickly. Demonstrations in class aren't very helpful. Practice problems are a must.
A Professor who does not help teach the equations which make up the majority of her tests even though she spends most of the class on concepts.
Not a good professor. However, I found the class pretty simple. Just study and do all of her practice problems and you will do well. Her lectures are unnecessary and I did not learn anything from them so I stopped attending lecture after two weeks. Exams are straightforward and not too difficult.
She's really passionate about physics and she has an accent but it's really not that bad. Pay attention in class and you'll pass the tests. Online canvas quizzes and homework are also helpful.
Pradhan was an OK teacher. Didn't really attend class because she really didn't explain the material well and I learned better from the book. 90% of grade is based on three exams (four exams technically, but one is dropped) and 10% online homework. Practice exams are very similar to the actual exams so know those really well and you will pass.
Solid professor for Gen. Physics 1. Class is 90% based on exams, 10% on MasteringPhysics online homework. She wasn't bad. Always available to help/answer questions during office hours before exams. Her homework questions are similar to the exams so review those to do well in the class and make sure all covered concepts are concrete for you
Tests cover way too many chapters. Make sure you study her review questions because many of her questions from the test are pulled directly from them. Two cumulative tests are a cruel and unusual punishment. Tests are T-scored and she won't round grades up. Final isn't mandatory. Her teaching style is hard to follow and she's kind of condescending.
I took Physics in high school, so my advice may not be applicable to everyone. I found that going to lectures did not help at all. The way to get an A in this class is simple and clear cut, but tedious: do ALL the practice problems and understand them! very similar to the material on the test, and sometimes she puts on questions from there
horrible! Do not take her class if you are hoping to learn physics . Her lecture slides are from the textbook, she doesnt do enough problems in class. Attending her class is uncessary. her tests have a lot of conceptual problems which I find very annoying. she is very rude and her grading is weird, I got the same grade for all the tests.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Her class is exam heavy, she offers reviews which the exam is based off of but at least half of the answers are wrong causing you to get them wrong on the exam. Language barrier is evident and she gets defensive when you tell her there is a typo or a question is wrong.
So, U can't deal with strong, sometimes harsh personalities or overbearing accents?-Don't take this class. Exams are on pract/lect problems, which is good, but don't expect her to walk through each step. Equations below will help guide you: Love math+barely study This class is 4 u!! :-) Hate math+ability to self-teach+time to studyGood luck!
Four exams, lowest grade will be dropped. Homework assignment every week but overall very easy. She posts her power points where you can study from. She cares that the class passes but her test cover too many chapters. Usual 40% multiple choice questions and 60% short answers. Studyyy if you want to pass.
Hard accent to understand especially in a lecture hall. If you try really hard it's possible to get an A. Her letter grade ranges are much different than normal classes such as 77B
Diff in the beginning but slowed down about midway through the semester after the first couple tests had terrible avgs. You are graded only on HW and tests so do all of them! Lecture is not mandatory but a lot of test mat comes from them! If you go and sign in on the sheets it could help you with your final grade. She wants all to learn and pass!
I had taken this course in the Fall 2016 but needed a B-, so I had to take this course again. Accent is really heavy. So this time, I took her course online which was much easier and self paced. You have a new module each Monday with a HW and a Quiz assignment that is due by Sunday. She does drop the lowest HW and Quiz grade.
Pradhan was not the greatest professor. The class is based on Canvas quizzes and tests, which the lowest test and quiz get dropped. This class is fairly easy and you don't have to show up to the lectures. However, wouldn't recommend just because you do not learn much. However, if you're looking for an easy A then take this class.
If you've never taken a Physics course before, get ready to work. Dr. Pradhan isn't the best lecturer, but she knows her stuff and expects you to do the work outside of class to fill in the gaps.
Granted, this was a VERY easy physics class, but I didn't feel like I took a lot away. Sort of hard to understand sometimes with her accent. Expect 20% of the class to show up most of the time, and then everyone for exam days. 4 exams make up 90% of grade, lowest one dropped. Test questions are straight from study guide, so easy A if you study that
This time I took her class online which was much easier & self paced. Each module start Monday with a HW & Quiz assignment due by Sunday night. She drop the lowest HW & Quiz grade. I would take her online class again not a face to face class. Her accent is very heavy & lectures are long. This was my second attempt. I recommend taking her online.
Take PHY online if your major allows it. I worked at my own pace and the PHET modules were really fun to do. The HW is done in Mastering physics. The module quizzes are easy. The exams are easy and she never had to curve the exams because the class average was high. Exam feedback is available once to review. She responds to discussion questions ++!
Everything you would expect from an online class. If you have never taken a physics course, get ready to read and do your own research. You must fully understand the concepts in the book to do well on the weekly quiz and HW. Most of the times, Dr. Gauri Pradhan posts supplemental videos and lectures as a review before HW.
A very nice person, but not a great professor, she teaches as if she's teaching an upper-level physics class instead of a basic one. Gets off onto 30 minute tangents and then says you don't actually need the info. Tests are all multiple choice, with about 50% being from the study guide. Class is bare until test days, expect a lot of people then.
She has an Indian accent but not hard to understand. She's very passionate about physics but the lectures were painful to sit through. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK! especially if you plan to go to most classes. Go over the study guide and have a basic understanding of the concepts and you'll be fine.
Seems like this professor has an understanding in physics but absolutely has terrible teaching skills! She treats the class as if we are in high school. She spends way too much time going over tedious things and less time on more difficult concepts. I think she has the mindset of a high school teacher and should teach that level instead.
Physics with Prof. Pradhan is one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. She is terrible at explaining. Exams are ok if you study her review problems, however, everything else she uploads to Canvas is useless. Exams are 90% of your final grade, and homework is 10%. No extra credit at all.
Physics is a hard subject in general but her exams are exactly like the problems that you do in class. Her lectures are clear and her accent is easy to understand. She's sassy and is nice to her students. She drops your lowest exam grade and the only other assignments are online homework. I'm taking her again PHY 2054.
Lectures are all online in powerpoint form. The grades include about 10 short online quizzes (10% of your grade, multiple attempts, very easy), and four exams (including the final exam). Lowest quiz and exam grade gets dropped at the end of the semester. Tests are easy, just review the powerpoints and got to the test reviews. Easy A if you study.
Not the best teacher, but she cares a lot about her students. Her class is challenging but not impossible to pass. Honestly, I found it more helpful to read the textbook than to go to her lectures. PHY2053 consists of weekly homework, 4 curved exams(including final)- lowest exam grade gets dropped, No extra credit and final grades are not rounded.
Someone recommended I take her class, and I'm glad I did. Physics is a challenging subject, but Dr. Pradhan makes sure you know exactly what to expect on exams. Some questions are directly from class or practice problems. If you're looking for the grade, take her; however, if you want to learn, perhaps choose someone else.
I never went to class. Her tests are not bad, they're alright. You can prepare by doing the worksheets posted online and reviewing her lecture notes. I took AP Physics in high school, but if you don't have any physics experience, go to class and see if her lectures are beneficial. Tests are worth 90% of your grade and mastering physics hw are 10%.
for 2053 she gave a BIBLE STACK of practice questions and amongst them, she would pick for the exams. didnt go to class all the time but got an A bc I literallly did every single question she uploaded on canvas. doing ALL questions was grueling but it works to get an A, youll understand too once doing questions. online hw not bad
Pradhan was not the best professor. Even though I got an A in the course, it was very test heavy. She does however drop the lowest exam score so that helps. Her teaching style can be confusing as she often assumes we already know how to do the problem. Other than that, you can get a good grade is you study and prepare for the test.
She's a nice lady, really, Physics 1 is just hard. I cried every day because of this class. She does her best to explain things but after test 1 and 2 I realized going to class was just useless. She posts practice questions and those are what saved me. PLEASE DO THE PRACTICE QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Also, PLEASE READ THE BOOK.
Dr. Pradhan expects you to be able to immediately apply the knowledge she presented in class, and understand every single concept on the spot. If you show any level of confusion, she doesn't understand why and thinks the concepts are too easy not to understand. If a better physics professor exists take them.
She's one of the most dedicated professors I've seen, and she very clearly cares about physics and about her students' understanding. However, she assumes her students to have a higher comprehension level than they do, and she expects a lot with not much explanation.
Does not post any test reviews. Lectures go as such; regurgitates what is on the powerpoint, does pratice problem, yells at kids for not understanding it RIGHT AWAY. Says being in class is not mandatory but will do reviews on certain days in class which are quite helpful but will not post them to re-read and practice for later.
Doesn't explain the material during lectures, she reads directly from the slides and is confusing. She skips steps when doing problems on the board. She jumps around as if there is no plan laid out on what we are doing that day. The homework is almost unrelated from the tests. Only 3 exams and homework (10 points) contribute to your grade.
Here's the thing, this class was actually okay online. However, Dr. Pradhan will not interact with you at all, nor will she milk your grade whatsoever. She is a very kind lady in person and knows (obviously) a lot about physics. She's a horrible communicator, and no, it's not because of her accent. if you want to learn, dont take this class online
Pradhan's Physics 2 class is the literal definition of "teach myself a class that I paid for". Her lectures consist of digressing into irrelevant material not pertaining to the exams. Grading goes as 90% Exams (2 exams and the FINAL), 10% HW. She posts millions of practice questions which she uses as a test bank for her exams, so study those...
Seems to understand physics but cant translate that into teaching, jumps over important concepts expecting you to already know it before introduced, doesnt solve any problems in class fully, gets angry when asked to repeat a concept description for any reason, and so much more. Even if she is your last option, DO NOT TAKE.
Very educated in Physics but does not know how to teach. Lectures are trash, jumps around the material a lot and makes zero sense. The homework site, sapling is also terrible and gives no useable feedback. Would not take this class with this teacher again. Avoid at all costs if you have other options.
useless to go to lecture. reads off powerpoints and expects students to know material weeks before its taught. Only graded on 2 exams and a final. mastering physics due every monday. her tests are pulled from practice problems. take someone else if you can . easy to pass but hard to get an A
Only take if you have prior experience in physics. This was my first physics class and I was lost. When I did catch up, we had moved on. She ried to cram a ton of information in a short amount of time. Do the practice problems posted online because mandatory homework is no help on tests. Grade consists of homework (10%) and 3 tests (each 30%).
If you do the practice problems, you'll pass the tests. The majority of the test is the practice problems. The concepts are pretty easy if you pay attention in class. If you go to class you won't need the textbook at all.
She was okay. I would go to her class but I feel like I really didnt learn anything from going so you can honestly skip if you wanted to. The study guides are basically the tests.
I think she's a great teacher who really tries her best. The people giving negative comments are the ones who can't pass her exams so they take it out on her. She gives every resource, examples in class, and loads of practice problems.
She makes the class very easy. She posts every lecture's presentation online and only uses the presentations as materials for tests and exams.
I took conceptual physics online with Dr. Pradhan and found it to be not that bad. I would definitely recommend taking the class online rather than in person from what Ive heard from other students. She is very kind and you can tell she cares about the subject she teaches. Online lectures with weekly homework and quizzes. Do the work, get an A.
Shes cares about her subject and is a good teacher but i had a pretty hard time understanding her during lectures due to her accent. Her tests are the same problems from her review questions packet.
10/10 recommend
Super easy class and honestly it's not even worth it to go to the lectures. The lectures are boring and you will fall asleep, she posts the presentations online anyways. The exams are just the study guides. Her mood changes super quick so beware of that.
Yes, her accent can be hard to understand (sometimes). Tbh, I showed up to maybe 6 lectures the entire semester. You could teach yourself everything at home just based off her PowerPoints and learn about the same as you would in class. Just use Google for help instead of the textbook. Only grades are 6 online quizzes and three exams + the final.
Don't take her. She is not clear and hard to understand. She only reads off powerpoint slides. For tests you are told to use a test review that with topics and formulas she hasn't even taught us. She says you are given a formula sheet on the exam, but she doesn't put them all down. Her test reviews only help for about 10 questions on the exam.
Energy and Humanity was a very simple and seemingly interesting class but she managed to make seem unenjoyable with the endless lectures. She tried to incorporate cool experiment type things into the class however it was ineffective and not relevant to the lecture topic. She incorporated too much physics into an environment and humanity class
Test reviews help for half of the exam. To do well you have to go through hundreds of ppt slides, read several chapters that are are 100pg long each. Just for 40 questions! You need to learn off youtube and google the formulas. Because she doesn't tell which ones you need or teach how to use them. Don't take her. Nobody understands her w/her accent
Awful professor. She expects you to already understand physics. She makes you feel stupid just for asking questions. She makes things harder than what they need to be. I feel bad for anyone who didn't take physics in highschool and hopes to learn from her. She doesn't even teach the formulas behind these topics or give good examples. Waste of time
Lectures are very repetitive. She posts the slides so you can teach yourself them at home. Most questions on the tests are straight from the study guide. Its an easy course if you have taken physics before, if not good luck. She moves very quickly and is hard to understand. She is very fair with tests as she lets you omit 3 questions on every test
it's not hard to get an A
Don't buy the text, you can get the pdf online. I don't understand all the bad reviews. An accent is not an excuse to rate a professor badly. Her lectures are SUPER fun and informative she uses a lot of Physical demonstration to explain the various concepts making it easier to understand! Test questions are repeated from the test review she gives.
People who reviewed her badly DID NOT TRY. Her lectures are entertaining as she uses demonstrations, as a visual learner this helped a lot. Test questions are repeated from the test review she gives and the few questions that don't repeat are common sense, usually. You can get the pdf book online.
Go in with an open mind. She can't help her accent, and if you are not IGNORANT you will be fine. Her accent isn't that bad. Overall easy class. She does a great job with the basics.
She's super cool and genuinely wants her students to succeed. If you read the textbook and listen to the lectures you'll do fine but if you want to get an A you really have to take good notes and read the textbook chapters at least twice.
Can't go wrong taking this class online. Very clear criteria.
Not much work, easy quizzes, and assignments. You write a few quick essays, you do decent on the midterm and final, and you've got an A. However, if you do poorly on the midterm or final, prepare for a "B" in the class.
I would 100% recommend taking this class online. The workload is easy if you know what you're doing.
One MC homework, one MC timed quiz, one discussion, and one reflection each week. Must read assigned chapters in order to understand material for the week. No live lectures, which would have been helpful in this class. Final is MC as well. Professor did not have assigned office hours and didn't actively interact.
While Professor Pradhan is definitely passionate about physics and wants her students to learn, her lectures are insanely boring and you won't want to go to class after the first 2 weeks of school. All of her assignments and exams can be easily done and studied for by reading the textbook.
I struggled at the beginning of the semester but once I understood the structure, it became much easier. We had week long deadlines and the textbook was written excellently and helped me to learn in as many ways as possible especially since I'm not strong science student. Her HW and quizzes are lecture based and the optional vids are v interesting!
I literally do not even know her. The class was 100% asynchronous with little to no help from her. I couldve done the class completely on my own. Every week you read a chapter, do hw, quiz, and a DB on 3 things you learned, 2 questions you have, and 1 thing you found interesting. I just didnt learn...
As someone who did not take physics in high school, I found this course to be very challenging. However, Pradhan was very helpful and even posted the extra powerpoint lectures into canvas for me even though she usually only provides them for the in-person classes. Quizzes are only 25 questions, which makes missing just a few questions problematic.
Professor Pradhan is nice and she does care about her students though this class is not easy. She never does live lectures online either. As long as you read the chapters you will do fine on the quizzes. There is weekly homework assignments as well per week. The final exam is the hardest overall.
She does not know how to teach, overexplaining and overcomplicating the simplest of concepts. Of course any class takes effort and active listening to learn, but her explanations are nonsensical and will leave you frustrated. Reading the chapters and completing the homework has been more helpful than attending her lectures.
A very good professor in my eyes, as long as you take the class right. Be sure to read the book she assigns, as it is very useful, even if you don't like reading. She has a strong Indian accent, but its not bad in my eyes. I'm willing to bet 90% of the bad reviews are people who didn't read the book.
This was the first physics class of my college career and well it was a disappointment. The lectures were super boring and the tests were harder than expected. I used the questions from the setlists and struggled a lot on the mid-term and especially the final. Quizzes have two attempts which is nice so definitely use the second attempt to get a 100
Shes nice, I guess. But she literally just reads off of the powerpoint and makes the lectures absolutely unbearable. Shes just not a very good teacher. If you want to get a good grade in this class you have to teach yourself.
Dr. Pradhan, In my experience was the best physics instructor Ive ever had. She encourages students to come up with questions and provides additional material for people who are curious to learn more. She shows us a demonstration in almost every lecture to make the lessons fun.
I did physics in high school and that helped me a lot. She has your best interest at heart but teaching through PowerPoint was probably not the best way to teach a science class. She goes over the same material a lot mostly to ensure you understand it but she also struggles to deliver some content. Quizlet and the textbook are your best friends.
Reads powerpoint slides. Just read the textbook and youll pass by a longshot.
Being an online class, it was heavily reliant on the textbook, however the homework was a good supplement to prepare for the quizzes at the end of each module.
It was great everything is based on whats in the textbook. Quizzes and homework are easy. Even if you don't do well on the midterm and final. You can still get a B if you get 100% on all hw and quizzes. Recommend this professor especially for online class.
Her class is not too difficult, but she likes calling people out during class and it gets annoying. Her lectures are so boring and she prefers quantity of material over quality.
she was a sweet woman and an easy A. literally never went to her lectures and still pulled off an A. take her but beware the class is kind of boring.
study, memorize every test, quiz & review ?? but if you aren't a physicist by end of semester, be wary that you will pass incredibly weighted cumulative final exam.100/100 on my index cards but this professor tricks&twists the words to the problems in ways you won't have seen. Avg grade on final for class was around 70%. lost my magna cum laude.
Honestly, I think the class is bad, not the professor. She lists all assignments and when they are due the first week of school, which is appreciated. The textbook is not great, but she gives additional resources that are helpful. The online class is the better option, in my opinion.
1 quiz, homework, and discussion due every week. Not hard. notes and quizlet are your best friends. dont miss due dates, wont allow you to redo it. Gave professor a 2 because it was online there wasnt communication needed. very easy once u get in the flow of allowing time to finish the assignments once a week. took physics in highschool that helped.
This professor claims that ice can form from boiling water
She is not respectful towards her students at all. I asked her for help because I was struggling in the class, and she would rush me out of her office hours and laugh at me for not understanding. You get graded on weekly quizzes that are 45% of your final grade, the midterm and final exam which are both 25% of your final grade.
Professor Pradhan really does care about physics and getting you prepared for general physics. The only gripe I had with her was how she did her lectures, for somebody with ADHD like myself a 30-50 slide PowerPoint with minimal demonstrations is not the best for my attention span, other than that she is a fantastic professor.
At the beginning, I was not the biggest fan of Dr. Pradhan, but she is definitely one of the better physics teachers at USF. Her lectures are useful and she gives a lot of practice questions which are very similar to the exams. Her exams are pretty fair. Do practice problems!. For homework, she just assigns weekly Achieve which you do have to buy.
I actually didn't have a terrible experience in this class. Physics still sucks but Dr. Pradhan's lectures aren't too hard to understand and she gives lots of extra practice problems that are useful. She is also helpful outside of class. Happy to say I never have to take physics again but this class was not quite as painful as I had anticipated.
I could go on beyond the 350-word limit but here we are. I had an A all semester, went to lectures, and performed well on my midterm, and overall the class was great. But on the final exam, I got a 70 and brought my A down to a low B. Why such a low grade? Cause I went to her study sessions where she told us to study the wrong things, so RIP.
She gives massive reviews for each test and many of the questions are pulled. I did those and studied the textbook. Went to about 10% of the lectures, because they weren't that useful.
Very, very boring. Showing up to class does not matter and you'll do well if you get a decent grade on the midterm and the papers. She gives next to no feedback on any of the papers. I can't say this enough: showing up to class is a waste of time. She's boring and monotonous and teaches more physics than energy and humanities. Just don't take her.
Pros: Clear assignment schedule Provides multiple outlets to understand a subject (simulations, videos, textbook readings, etc.) Responds fairly quickly Cons: Bland Boring Uninteresting Doesn't provide extensions
This professor is very accessible outside of class. I recommend the book tbh for learning. Her lectures are reading off powerpoint and explaining. Quizzes are easy, just study the papers she posts for midterm and final. Difficult to understand in lectures sadly
Wish there were more demonstrations rather than reading and listening. Not everything on the quizzes are on the posted lecture slides, so you must read the textbook. Use her reviews for mid term and final though and you'll be fine !
lectures were boring and hard to understand. learning the content on my own time was more beneficial than going to class. one open book quiz (45% of grade) and one virtual lab simulation due every week (5% of grade). exams are honorlock, closed book (25% of grade each). the good thing is that quizzes and exams were all multiple choice.
Its very possible to pass the class by just studying the book and not going to lectures. She does give a lot of review questions for tests which help a lot.
Professor Pradhan's class can be manageable with dedication. The lectures can be dull, but the textbook and practice materials are helpful. Unstuck study was a game-changer for studying and prep.
There is literally no point having a professor if you take this class online. Everything you learn is from reading a textbook, so it's 100% self taught. But, the material is not too hard since it's conceptual physics. 1 hw, 1 quiz, 1 disc post, 1 lab due each week. 1 of each is dropped at end of sem. Review questions before exams are v helpful
Never went to lectures the information is easy to learn on your own. Every test quiz and assignment is online.
She was using her presentations. Her teaching was easy for me.
Easy enough class if you actually read the textbook, although you can definitely get away with not reading it since she provides review questions for both the midterm and final. Workload is pretty reading intensive and you'll have three to four assignments a week, but if you're focused you can get it all done in a few hours.
She is a great teacher and is very passionate about teaching physics to her students. She goes into depth about each subject and provides real life examples by doing little experiments in class. She is always smiling and seems happy when people ask questions. All the exams are on honor lock and the final exam is comprehensive. She responds fast.
Dr. Pradhan is by far my favorite Physics professor at USF. That isn't to say her class is easy, but I don't think that anybody else could have taught me physics quite as well. I took a risk in taking her upper level class despite doing poorly in Physics 1, but the way she explained everything and consistently offered to help made everything click.
She is a caring and wonderful professor. The course is very interactive and engaging. Her exams are very forgiving, and you will have a good time in the course as long as you are engaged. She likes to post articles relevant to the course content being taught that week, and it is pretty interesting to read, even if some of it goes over my head.
It's hard to understand her, and she isn't helpful through email, even if it's the first week of school. I had trouble with the online textbook, and she gave no grace; instead, she told me I could've done the work without the book, "like she said", except she never said you could do the quiz without the book. She will drop a quiz...just one.
This professor is fun and interactive, her lectures are a joy and I easily understand what she teaches. However, the lectures do not match up with assigned work, quizzes, or exams, so at-home studying is a must. In the same note, the textbook does not teach the concepts as you are expected to know on the coursework.
Her accent makes it a little bit hard to understand her sometimes. She only reads from the slides so class feels really pointless sometimes and she doesn't do it in a fun way, it's monotone and boring. Her class is fine like its not that hard its just really boring.
Only reads off lecture slides and does not care if you're having trouble inside or outside of class. Can easily pass class without attending
Honestly wouldnt recommend, she reads off the slides so there is no point in attending lectures. her accent is SOOOO hard to understand and always give a bunch of information to then say "you dont need this for the test". this class uses honorlock only for the midterm and the final, I basically taught myself this course...
Online not honor locked. If your just looking for an easy A this is it but your prob not gonna learn much. I mean its conceptual Physics what'd you expect. Never talked to the prof. 3 assignments a week
Lectures are posted on Canvas, coming to class feels pointless because she reads off of them, it is a bit hard to understand what she is saying. She does random attendance every now and then. There are 2 exams, they are both online on Honor Lock. Very easy to do well in the class without listening to anything she says or paying attention in class.
Lectures are very boring, quiz and short assignment every week. She reads off the slides verbatim so there's no point in showing up. Occasional attendance sheets but I don't this she actually checks. I wouldn't take this class unless I had no other choice. Had very for both conceptual physics and Energy and Humanity. Did not learn a thing in either
She is a very nice lady, but her lectures were very boring. It was very difficult to pay attention. Your grade is mainly determined by the mid-term, final, and a paper you have to write. The exams were multiple choice but the questions were very specific and mainly based on memorization. I studied for weeks for the final and got a D on it.
