I got an A in his class, which is likely unlikable because Im soo bad at it. He's easy on the grades, because he curves and you get part. points, which really help, if u come to class and do the homework. I would defintely recommend him.

HE is lenient on the grading and the essays were annoying, but sometimes I did not get what he was asking for. I didn't like his class but I made an "A". There is HW in the handbook, and usually let us leave 30 minutes early.I thought he was boring and he does seem a bit on the gay side, even though hes married

Nice and helpful teacher. Lets you leave early sometimes. Explains things clearly. Takes attendence. I thought it was too much work. I dropped it cuz I got caught behind. He does seem a little fruity but he's really nice. He seems like a bia bia but he's not. Recommended!

His assignments seem a little hard but they aren't anything he doesnt go over a million times and he offers every oppurtunity to help you. He's not for immature people. He makes you think and challenges you and thats not for everyone. Which probably explains some of the negative comments

He is not as easy as everyone said he was. I did pretty good in english before I took this class. The only thing I liked about his class was that he would curve the grades a little. He grades papers really hard!

Great teacher. Great class concept (gothic horror). Most say that he's anal about grading papers, he's not. Just follow the directions. Participate in class. If he sees you participating and knows you understand the material, he'll grade less harshly. If you don't understand, talk to him after class and he'll explain.

This guy grades pretty hard, but if you study and complete assignments you can get an A. If your failing or worried about your grade he will help you just have to ask him.

I took his summer class and I made an A... there were 4 essays and mini quizzes everyday but i was late almost everyday and missed most of those... alot of what we did in class was just buzy work... for the most part i recommend him cuz it's very easy to get an A.

He is helpful, he is a nice guy. But if you are not a detail oriented individual you can kiss your good grade good bye. Grading system is extremely hard. Deducts points for any minor mistake. Boot Camp Sytle.

He is awesome!! he knows what he's talking about and makes it very easy for u to understand if you don't get it the first time. You do four essays and the final itself is an essay, and mini quizzes which were a piece of cake. Those who don't like him just aren't willing to work hard! Awesome TEACHER!! I wish I would of had him for 1301 he is VERY clear & helpful. He grades very hard,(his system can be confusing but it works & it's VERY FAIR)if u do ur work and study u will not have a problem. U also get lots of chances to bring the grade up due to the amount of quizzes he gives (he drops some too) take him & u would enjoy CompI&II. HAVE FUN!!!!!

He explains things well and gives you ample time to work on papers assigned. Very respectful to students. Attendance is important-he gives participation grades based on your attendance. Good instructor, nice person.

Dr. Schulz is a great professor. He is very clear and explains in detail so that everyone can understand. Very nice and helpful. He wants to see students succeed. His lectures are very thourough.

Very picky about mistakes made on papers. Will hand paper back if it has more than 2 errors and takes off 10 points each time it happens.

The class was pretty hard for me. Very picky about mistakes. Takes short quizes in the begining of the class, so don't be late.(quizes open book, NOT hard). as i said, to my mind class is kinda hard....

Pretty good teacher if you actually want to learn. Explains assignments pretty clearly you have 3 major assignments, gives you about a month do a paper, final research paper is based off the first paper you write. Fairly strict on grammar allows for 13 mistakes per page if you have more than than he gives you the paper back to fix grammar mistakes.

I took his class in the summer. Pretty straight forward and explains the things he expects to see in the essays. 2 short essays, research paper is based on essay # 1 and final is an easy in class essay. He is particular about grammar, but gives you chance to make up. Open book quizzes daily. Very easy!! Recommend him.

Prof Gavin is just okay. he gives enough time to complete your essays but at the same time he is a very hard grader. you get your essay back with all red marks. it is also hard to tell what he is looking for in the essay. some of his lectures does not even go with the topic. oh ya..his quizez are easy.overall he is okay but write your essay well

He is a very easy professor in a sense. He tell u what to do. If u listen ur at a B and add ur efforts and ur at an A. If u dont listen and do ur stuff last minute like me ur at a C. I still dont know how I managed to pull of a B.

I had him for 1302 and I should say that he is a reasonable teacher. He gives students second chances to improve their work and he will explain what problems you have in your essay if you ask. If you are the type who can't take an honest criticism think twice because 1302 makes you work hard. Just listen to his advice and you'll do just fine.

I believe he's a really great professor. He's very clear on what he expects to see on the essays. He gave us outlines on how to write. He is very picky about grammar, but he's also very understandable & if you approach him, he will help you out.

He is a bit strict on grammar but he is a PHD english prof. he wrote a book what do you expect? This is 1302 guys not 6th grade english. There are only 4 papers to write... very easy, got an A :)

He is a good teacher, maybe not the BEST but he's not bad at all. He is VERY specific on what he wants on an essay and he gives all kinds of examples to make it clear for you, so that makes it easier. He is kinda harsh on grammar, so watch out for that, however, he does give you the chance to correct your paper :D

OMG! He is best teacher ever!! He is clear about what he wants from his students. He tells you step by step what he wants on the essays. First and second essays he will give you second chance to improve your grade but on the research paper he does not. He is very fair teacher and he will help you if you have any questions.

He is a very clear teacher. The way he grades your paper is very strange but gives you room to make mistakes. He gives lots of time to write your paper and there are open book quizzes about every week which would really help your grade if you suck at essays. I'm not very good at essays but I still got an A in the class.

This is not a class where you can just slack off and expect to get an A. He is extremely crucial with grammar when grading your essays, but does give you chances to revise them. His sessions are mainly about how you can improve the next essay assigned. Overall, he is a good professor but you HAVE to do your work to maintain a good grade.

I was a student that didn't care for ENGL classes at all. In fact I dreaded it. But Schulz is a good teacher. Follow his EXACT instructions, don't be lazy, and ask questions and you will make an A. He responds back daily. He gives extra points if you follow his instructions. Give your best effort and you will pass.

2 essays, 1 research paper, 1 take home final, about online homework every week. 2 peer evaluation, brain storm exercises. He has strict rules for essays and research paper, but he gives bonus if you don't make mistakes like citation format and plagiarism. The bonus can make your grade from 60 to 80. Very nice and willing to help.

You only have to attend some lectures because the way he likes his essays can get pretty specific but overall very easy. I don't want to say he "curves" essays but the way he grades them you'll get around 20-25 bonus points every time- I got 100+'s on all of my essays because of this. There are a few online assignments but they're simple. LOVE IT.

Took him during summer at HCC. Had taken the class within the month after graduating High school, and was scared to take the class. He was really easy and explained everything. Even went over essays with you. But if something was graded he didn't help to be fair. Did have homework, but if you keep track you will pass.

I took Gothic Literature with him and he was one of the best professors I've had for english. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. Granted, we had a quiz every class but they were only 4 questions! Super easy if you read the story, and even if you didn't, he left time to discuss the stories beforehand.

I took him for engl 1302. He gives you 3 big essays throughout the semester which aren't hard if you actually read the story's and apply yourself. The prompts aren't so exiting but that's all you do in his class write big essays and you're done. He grades hard but gives you long deadlines to turn in a good paper.

I took this class online in the Spring. Dr. Schulz is very specific in his lectures and requirements. After you submit your essay he will let you know what corrections are needed and allows you the opportunity to correct it before the final grade. Read his lectures and follow his instructions and there will be no problem passing the course.

I've got to be honest, if you're not comfortable or not having any interests in writing, you wouldn't want to take his class. Otherwise, he is an amazing instructor. He will be specific of what he wants you to do, and at the same time, more than willing to help if you really want to make progress in writing. I'm taking another one of his classes.

I took Dr. Schulz's online English 1302 class hoping to boost my GPA. This is definitely a no BS class. Every assignment revolves around the 3 papers you write throughout the semester. He is a tough grader, but if you put in the work and do the smaller assignments you'll do well. He always responds to emails and is very clear about everything!

I took this class online. The workload is a little tedious. There are two 900 word essays, a 1800 word research paper, and several homework assignments throughout the semester. The level of difficulty was above average, but he was a good professor. He makes you work for it. Easy B, difficult A.

All lectures are easy to understand. No textbooks needed. 3 essays, 1 Final essay, a few easy quizzes. He replies back fast to emails. Your papers will be based off of online readings. You will be challenged to become better in your writing technique and overall presentation of your essay. He will make you write using different formats like MLA,etc

Dr. Schulz is a phenomenal instructor! If you want to improve your writing skills, then take his class! He gives very detailed feedback on every assignment, which is very beneficial. He was really nice and a straight forth teacher. We weren't given much work throughout the course. 3 Essays, a Final Essay, 3 discussion boards, and 3 short quizzes. I would just say read the lectures so you know what he is grading for and to turn in all assignments on time and you'll be good.
