Loveliest woman on earth, I swear. Very sweet and not at all pretentious, and very understanding of student workloads. Teaches subject matter well. Loves quotes.

It was her first time teaching the subject, but you wouldn't know it based on how well her class was organized. Very helpful in and out of class. Classes were very naturally discussion based, without any forceful atmosphere of pressure. Lots of readings to do, but the workload is low, 2 test, 3 essays over a year (glad I had her for the whole year)

She's absolutely fantastic!!! if you have the opportunity to take her class, I highly recommend it. She's the sweetest woman in the world and will do anything to help her students. She made me see English and English Pofessors in a whole new light.

Super nice lady, always available and open for questions/extra help - kept in email contact with class for notes etc. which was really helpful! Really cares about her subject and makes the class care about it too. She marks on participation but classes aren't mandatory - still, they're well worth attending :)

Poetry is really not my forte in all honesty just needed an english credit but she is easily one of the best professors i have had in university. clearly enjoys teaching and is unbelievably accommodating! wish more prof were like her. she makes you want to work hard. recommend taking her course even if you have no interest in the subject.

Great teacher, really wants you to understand the material! She's always willing to give extensions, increase grades if you can argue that you deserve a higher mark and she's always happy to make time to answer any questions. Even if you don't like poetry, you should still take the course!

Absolutely fascinating. Chooses very interesting material and is totally open for discussion. The courses she teaches are like a story tale in themselves. Has excellent historical background that lies the foundation for Our language. Personal and very genuine, considerate and too human to be human - Prof T. deserves the University's best attention.

She is only one of the nicest professors I've met. She really tries to get to know you, especially if you're not doing too well. She is a little bit critical when it comes to writing, but it's all constructive criticism, and personally develops you to be a better writer.

Prof T as she likes to be referred to is one of the best profs you will ever have. Very understanding and thorough with each lecture and make sure you get her for the DGD! She is very lenient on due dates and never gives out late penalties if you communicate with her. Course pack was only a few dollars and the essays in it were pretty interesting!

Easily one of my favourite profs. Super sweet, learned everyone`s name, and provided helpful critique. If you go into this class knowing how to write an essay it is beyond easy - I attended 3 lectures over the course of the semester and received an A+.

Prof T. is my amazing! She's the sweetest lady I've ever met, takes the time to know everyone's names and really cares about your success. She gives participation marks, and she's willing to give extra time if you need it!

Doctor T, is incredibly helpful and so sweet. Never strict on deadlines at all, if you can't get a paper in for the given date just let her know and she will gladly give you an extra week or so to get it in. Her lectures were pretty bland but overall she is an amazing teacher. SO understanding

LOL I have to say... Prof T is definitely something.. she wears shorts to class and she's so down to earth. She's very understanding and sooooooo sweet as everyone mentioned. I would send her emails asking for her help at 3am an she would always answer them :') absolutely LOVE her. not big on deadlines and give extensions. TAKE HER CLASS IF U CAN!

Professor Gaye Taylor was the best professor I had this semester. She answers her emails quick and is always willing to help. Not tough on deadlines. Very understanding. Very sweet lady who makes her lectures helpful and engaging. I wish I would have went to class more often.... Give it your all and she awards it. I got 90% and went to class 4x.

She care much about international students, she give us some personal help to get good grade, and her tests are not hard, you can get a good grade easily . She is a very kind and responsible professor, I suggest to choose her courses.

This professor was incredibly helpful. She was always extremely understanding if you missed a class and welcomed you into her office, even if just to chat. She answered emails very quickly and was a total sweetheart. Show that you're making an effort, and you'll be rewarded.

I had Prof T. for an introductory English class and felt lucky to have her as a prof!! She is so kind and really cares about her students. She took the time to learn all her students names and would always give helpful and plentiful feedback. There's nothing good about 8:30 classes, but Prof T. would always be there with a smile.

The course material itself isn't the most interesting by its nature, but she makes it as engaging as possible and is just SO nice. She was super understanding and did her best to help and accommodate students - even went so far as to offer new DGD times for us after administration booked a room that was too small. Take her class if you can!

Good lecture but course content is painfully boring plus Prof Taylor sends power point and her lecture notes word by word.

This prof was hands down the best prof I could ask for. Shes extremely kind and always prepared for her lectures. She takes the time to learn the names of 60+ students and whenever you need the help shes there and is willing to give you extra time :) I would highly recommend taking any of her classes, hoping to have her again in the new few years.

10/10 would recommend, she is one of the best profs I have ever had. She gets to know everyone's name, and she is extremely understanding and accommodating. She is passionate about what she is teaching, marks fair, if you attend class and put in the effort it will not go unnoticed. Midterm and final are fairly easy, essay topics are interesting.

She made an 8:30 am Friday morning lecture fun and exciting. The course pack is a selection of articles and essays, and I enjoyed reading them all and discussing them in class. She clearly explains essay structure, grammar, etc., and her exam was super fun to read and analyze! She's super nice and tries to remember everyone's name! Will miss her!!

Truly a professor that universities and colleges can use more of! The name of the course initially made it seem hard but she was the reason I stuck with it! Attendance wasn't mandatory but I'd highly recommend it as lectures were always fun and she's quite hilarious to boot. Hope I have her again, Prof T deserves a teaching award if you ask me :)

Professor Taylor is by far the best teacher I have ever had, and the best prof I've met so far at uOttawa. She is more than fair, so willing to help you with anything you need, and flexible- if you are passionate about a topic, she will let you write an essay on it. I never thought I would read about Flappy Bird and the Pope in the same class. She picks things to read and tries to stay relevant to the time. If you have her for the evening, she is a bit tired though. She tries to learn everyone's names and pick essay topics that apply to people's majors and interests.

Best prof ever! She is extremely clear on expectations, super sweet and very chill. She makes 8:30 classes bearable. Easy A class. She posts lecture notes online but go to class anyway because sometimes you need to hand in in-class exercise (that's how she takes attendance) which is marked based on effort. Take this course with her if you're ESL.

Essay writing is a class I need for my major and I was dreading it. Prof T made this class my favourite to attend even though it was 5:30-8:30 (including dgd). I learned the most in the class and became such a better writer because of her. She genuinely cares for her students and their success and eventually learns everybody's name.

This prof really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. If you're struggling in the course, talk to her and ask what you can do to improve and she will do everything in her power to ensure you improve. Gets to know her students and puts names to faces by the end of the class so it feels like you're talking to a friend than a prof

Prof T. is the most engaging and kind-hearted professor I have ever had. She is the only prof I've had (and will ever have) that learned the names over every person in the large first-year lecture. Do yourself a favour and take Prof T.'s course, she makes English accessible to everyone.

Prof T was wonderful. She took a 7 to 10 class and made it tolerable. She's very kind, passionate and funny. She's also very understanding, extends deadlines no questions asked. She encourages her students and obviously wants them to do well. Take a class with her if you get the chance! She makes you feel like you belong :)

She tries to get to know each of her students on a personal level and tries to make the course as easy as possible. The midterm this year is open book and there's no need to even study for it since there's no content to study for (all we're doing is evaluating essays). If you need an extension on an assignment, it's granted.

I absolutely loved prof Taylor! She is very sweet and caring, and gives excellent feedback on essays. There is a bit of reading to do in her course pack, but she makes class interesting (even if she is technologically troubled at times). Wonderful to visit during office hours, she will show full interest in your essay and she helped me a lot.

Prof T is such a sweetheart and really wants you to do well, she's willing to do what ever it takes to help you and gives extra time if needed. Lectures can be a bit boring but that's just because the material is so dry, she tries her hardest to make it interesting and chooses essays that appeal to the class's interests. I was dreading this class so much, but she honestly made the subject matter tolerable. She tries so hard to make some pretty dull subject matter interesting, and generally speaking succeeded. I had some problems during the semester that made it hard to meet deadlines and she was so kind to me about it. My favourite prof so far.

Prof. T. is one of the most caring teachers I've ever had. She really wants you to pass and is a fair grader. She's a little awkward and nervous when in front of the entire class, but is super nice and great one-on-one. The only thing I didn't like about this class was that the TA got to mark my essays instead of her.

She made the component as small as she could, let's you hand in things late. She is very reassuring for first year students!

This woman is an angel!this is an easy A class. She is loving and cares deeply about the success of her student. Tells you exactly what she expects to see in the exam and research papers. When you write your essays and research paper, send them to her to correct before submitting finally. Take her if you can! Run to her class if you are not there!

Prof T is a blessing you need. She is so understanding and willing to work with you and your struggles. She is flexible but yet has clear expectations. Gaye is bar none the best professor I have had at uOttawa. She makes course material interesting and interactive and is extremely caring and attentive to her students. Can't say enough good things. I was in her class over a year ago and she still remembers my name and says hi to me on campus even though she has undoubtedly taught hundreds.

Super fun lecturer, even though the content gets a bit repetitive. Provides excellent feedback on papers. She had, like, 300 students when I had her, and she still seemed to know the names of everyone in my class (of 75).

You can tell she's really passionate about writing and she has some good tips to improve your essay writing. She gives great feedback. I found she also wasn't too hard of a marker. Really cares about her students.

Such a sweet, kind lady. Her course content is quite modern and relevant and her lectures are more so discussions. She really cares about the success of her students and will even grant you an extension if you truly need one. An easy A if you put in even a little bit of effort.
