This is not a difficult class to pass and the amount of work is fair. If you find the material is even mildly interesting you can easily do well. The feedback is substantive and helpful, the workload is consistent and the professor is very nice, and always willing to help. I loved this class.
She was a tough grader The class was ok. she do gives feedback but sometimes some of the topics was really stuff that I would not find interesting so I guess it made me not too motivated to write those papers. I wouldn't mind taking her again. she drop two of the lowest test scores which can harm or help your grade,
Professor Gayle was a great professor! I took her this past semester online. I was enrolled in an accelerated course which went really fast however she gave great feedback and a good road map on how we should tackle the course! Also the material was very interesting and engaging. She posts lots of videos in the modules which is very helpful!
There is an online textbook with videos and "knowledge check points" which made the reading more engaging for me! I thought she was very nice and personable. She would message the class in canvas every week and it was always positive. She seemed to care about us and wished us well for the holidays. Her grading was clear, and she gave good feedback.
She is awesome! She is clear on expectations. And she keeps you excited to learn! She also is willing to help you navigate personal and individual situations to help you succeed!
She is awesome! Clear expectations. Helpful. Exciting.
Incredibly easy class if you take the time to do the work correctly. The course is very clearly laid out, and lots of feedback is given on all assignments.
I took her online class in which she tells us what to expect for the semester and all the hws we have, etc. She is a really good teacher but since I took the 7-week online class. It was just a lot of assignments, readings, and essays, but other than that if you keep up with your work on time and be organized you will do good.
Sociology is a difficult course. The feedback from the teacher helped a lot, she pointed out the mistakes very carefully. I tried hard and this served as an incentive for me to try even better. Minuses: too strict requirements for citations and sources, as well as obtaining ratings takes a long time. I'm glad I chose her to study this course
I found this class very difficult. Especially struggled with terminology. The professor is very strict in her assessment but gives good feedback. A couple of minor extra points assignments (20 out of 900) that don't really affect anything. Late works are accepted at half price
Overall, amazing teacher and class. Free textbook. Everything is laid out super clearly from the modules to what she wants you to write about in the assignments. She gives great feedback, as well. I am very passionate about the subject matter, so it was easy for me, but if you do not care that much, then you may have a more difficult time.
I enjoyed this class. The instructor is friendly and straightforward. Total grade is weighted more in discussion posts than quizzes or tests to show that you understand the material. There is a lot of writing, but isn't bad since the material is interesting. There's 50 pt total extra credit and you can turn in assignment a day late for half credit.
Discussion boards are 75 pts which is where most of your grade comes from, quizzes & tests are less. Lots of writing, but not awful. This class will apply to any field you pursue. It opens your mind to view social problems from different perspectives. Nice extra credit opportunities and turn in work a day late for 1/2 credit. One makeup assignment.
She is a great professor if you keep up with the work every week, read the assigned stuff then you will get a good grade in the class. assignments are easy to understand. She does grade based on the quality of the work so if you write a few sentences she will give you a lower grade than if you took the the time to write a well written response.
The professor is very knowledgeable on the subject and is happy to help you if needed. The class itself is very straightforward, getting a good grade is completely dependent on completing all the writings and quiz's.
She is a friendly professor, and her assignments are simple and straightforward. Don't get behind on work or turn in assignments late because she has a pretty hefty late penalty.
Was cool and nice
Very nice
She's an amazing professor! I enjoyed learning the subject and listening to the group discussions we had during class. Professor Gayle is incredibly sweet and kind. She's passionate about her job, which makes learning even more interesting. The work isn't hard at all. She gives half credit if you turn in late work, but it's better than no credit!
She was a great teacher. Cares about her students and wants them to be successful. Available when needed. A clear understanding of the requirements for the class. There were many papers/essays that needed to be written using a lot of sociology terminology. the overall class was great and can be successful, just ask questions.
Very easy online course and provided the online material that you just needed to pay for.
Prof. D'Andrea made this online course extremely straightforward and definitely encouraged you to not only think about the information provided throughout the course but also to develop and share your own thoughts instead of simply regurgitating information from the readings.
1 of my favorite teachers. Easy quizzes weekly if u do the short readings. No respondus. Gives good feedback and is very responsive. Wish I could take this teacher for every class.
Professor D' Andrea is kind, thorough, and thoughtful in her interactions with students. She engages every writing assignment genuinely and always has responsive and constructive feedback.
Although the class was entirely online, she provides enough information and assignments with vivid detail on their topics that you will still be able to learn effectively. She also provides weekly updates on the assignments that you'll be working on ahead of time as well as extra credit at the end of the semester. Her assignments are fairly easy.
She is a nice professor willing to talk to you about your grade. She offers advice and ideas. The best way to enjoy the class is to try to care about the topic being talked about.
The weekly readings were reasonable, with open book quizzes and discussions about the material. Grades were kept up to date throughout the semester and feedback was provided for written assignments so that you were aware of what to work on for future assignments. This class was very well organized and maintained. Professor was very responsive.
Lots of reading, open book quizzes, discussions about the material and essays. Grades were consistently put in through the semester. Valuable feedback was always provided for discussions and essays.
You will need to read and do a study plan before you come to class every week. One discussion or one assignment each week. You need to put most time and effort into discussions and assignments. She cares about your grammar, sources, and how you define sociology in your example to grade your discussion and assignment.
Professor DAndrea is very engaging and a great lecturer. She promoted some great discussions in class. She is a tough grader but gives great feedback! She assigned a very respectable workload during the semester and helps you when you need it.
She was very sweet and kind. Everything was online so no pop quizzes or tests in class.
Professor Gayle was a clear and fair grader. She gives good feedback and lets you submit late work. This is my second class taking with her, I recommend taking her class!!
I enjoyed the course because it was relevant outside of the class and because her lectures were really good.
Dr. D'Andrea is a wonderful professor. She presents content in a clear concise fashion. The assignments are thought provoking and pertinent to everyday life. She truly seems to enjoy teaching this course. I have learned so much about the practice of sociology from her. This professor comes highly recommended.
Dr. D'Andrea is a wonderful professor. I learned so much about the practice of Sociology. Thank you Dr. D'Andrea for being so well organized in our online course. It helped me to stay on task. I highly recommend this course and this professor.
She is very easy going and she is well-organized. Follow along with the study plan and you should be fine. Also there are quite a few papers to write, but it's not too bad.
Professor D'Andrea is a kind person who clearly cares deeply about her students and what she does. I encountered multiple hiccups in my personal life throughout the semester, and she was always available to help and flexible when I needed it most. As I am someone with multiple "invisible" disabilities, her patience and understanding was invaluable.
Great learning environment and responsible teacher.
It's clear she cares for her students and is always happy to help. I went through some things during the semester that held me back from doing well, but she was understanding and helped me get back on track. Her grading system is very clear and her work is super straight forward, I never had any trouble understanding what needed to be done.
Her class is straightforward, both with the grading and the work that's assigned. She's helpful and very kind; I went through some things this semester that held me back from doing well, but she helped me get back on track and was very understanding. There is lots of reading to do but the material that was assigned was usually pretty interesting.
She is a very nice teacher and gives a lot of leeway with late work. I would definitely taker her class again.
Very easy class, won't learn too much though
Overall, a great professor. She didn't give a lot of homework, but participation 100% matters.
Professor showed great knowledge and the lectures along with the online textbook lined up really well.
She's a great teacher. Don't be afraid to reach out to her she's very understanding.
She great teacher and always willing to help if you reach out to her.
excellent teacher
She is a very caring teacher, that sends constant reminders about due dates. I would definitely take her class again. She is very sweet.
Gayle brought some great and open conversations to the class and made sure we understood what we were learning. It was fun and eye-opening and I'd take her class again.
Such an amazing professor that cares about her students success. She communicates well as she gives constant reminders. I was behind on a few of my assignments due to me giving birth a few weeks ago but she was so understanding that she gave me an extension. We need more Professors like her, I will definitely recommend you take her class.
She answered my questions about all types of things in sociology unbiasedly, which I liked.
I would definitely recommend taking this class. She makes sociology fun and interesting. She provides a clear grading criteria which is really helpful to me when I'm doing an assignment. Also the assignments are straight forward and give good feedback on weekly assignments. We don't have to buy a textbook for this class which is a life saver.
Gayle is super friendly and kind! Her teaching is very straight forward and she makes the content easily digestible. She also goes out of her way to ensure you don't have to buy a textbook which is super dope.
She is very understanding and will work with you! She does grade pretty harshly though, but still fairly.
She's very kind and gives great feed back
Professor Gayle was awesome! She definitely cares for her students and wants you to succeed in her class. She gives great feedback on assignments and discussions boards if you are stuck which I really liked. She also allows for extra credit at the end of the semester. Professor Gayle is a solid 10/10 if you ask me!
This was an online class, very straight forward. Considerate/responsive teacher.
The class was easy, you just have to read and do the work of course but the professor is amazing and very helpful. If I wasn't graduating, I would definitely take her class again.
She was a great professor. Easy class you just need to read and do the work.
A very helpful, and considerate teacher. The class structure was very transparent and easy to follow. Feedback was provided, and they allowed for help on essays prior to submittal.
Good teacher and easy class, but she's the only teacher that counted off for or wouldn't allow late assignments in all of my online classes this semester.
This class was setup with a clear understanding of what to except out of it. You will have to critically think in this class as well as write pretty heavy and read but if you do the work you should be fine. Just keep up and read and you should pass.
She cares about you being successful in her class. She makes it clear with her feedback. She also makes it clear what to look forward and what is required of you in your class and also to pass. I would take her again. Modules were setup nicely.
She cares about you passing, and has a clear syballus on what to except.
Overall a phenomenal teacher. She knows what they are talking about, but is a tough grader.
Very good professor. She is always available outside of class and is willing to help, knows what she is talking about, but is a tough grader.
A very good professor. She was almost always available when you need her, she knows the material very well, but it is a tough grader.
She makes it very clear what to expect. She has everything outlined well and all modules are set up for your success. Lots of reading but it's fun reading and you gain more knowledge about the world. I would definitely take a class from her again. She leaves good feedback as well.
She was ok....
Professor D'Andrea is a very capable and available instructor. The fairness in her policy is wonderful and direct!
Professor D'Andrea has clear and easy to follow along instructions. The best comment I can give is, I would have liked to take this class in-person.
The professor provides quick and helpful feedback! The ability to voice concerns and ask questions elevates Professor D'Andrea to a top tier instructor.
Overall a good professor. I appreciated that the textbook was online and you didn't need to pay for it, huge savings. Some of the questions that were posed for the essays seemed a bit provocative (geared towards racism and sexuality) and appeared to try to get you into an argumentative standpoint. However feedback was good.

Professor D'Andrea had clear assignments based on each module. I took a self-passed course, it was easy to follow and keep up with work. Every week there's always a reading, a quiz, and either a discussion board or an assignment. Overall it went smoothly.

This professor was great during the semester. She gave a good amount of extra credit options and kept grading simple. There was a group project in this class and she gave us lots of time to work in those groups at the end of each week. There were a few papers but they were relatively. I enjoyed the way this class was set up and would take it again.
Professor Gayle is super reachable, you can always ask her any question and she is more than willing to answer. Very respectful and easy going. It was a pleasure to be in her class!
Great professor, amazing listener, easy going, very respectful, willing to help, super easy to talk with. It was a very interesting class and definitely taking her again as a professor if there is another chance.
Gayle was great! A heads up is there is A LOT of reading and notes required and the class is pretty extensive so if you want an easy A this is NOT the class you want to take, but if you actually want to learn and gain a ton of knowledge it's a great class and she's pretty clear on everything she asks. no gray areas which is nice.
She was great, I had no issues and the clarity was great.Lots of reading but id expect nothing less when thats the type of course this is.
Great professor, willing to help and caring!
She teaches very well. She makes online courses very simple for students to use.
Thanks to this awesome professor, this class is an easy A! Only easy if you just put the work in. The quizzes are open note. There are discussion post each week, now if you read the chapter and answer the post as asked you will get a good grade. Gayle gives you the chapter readings and additional resources. She is also a email away! No Tests!
The Lectures are very thought provoking on the topic sociology, being able to understand and participate in lectures will help complete the assignment and other works for the class.
Very clear on what is expected but will work with you if you need help.
She is a tough grader especially on homework, but a nice person. She gives pretty decent lectures, and I like that we did a group project through out the year. If I just had to listen to a lecture the whole time ide prolly be really bored. Would recommend to take if you need the credit.
Dr. D'Andrea is amazing. She is very clear of her expectations. However, she is also caring and understanding of life and situations. She works hard to get your grades back to you in a timely manner. She is also available to answer any questions. My advice is if you need to take a Sociology class take her class. You will grow as a student.
Dr. D'Andrea is amazing! She is very clear of expectations regarding what you must do to pass her class. However, she is caring and understanding. She will work with you as long as you communicate. If you need a class for Sociology, take her class. You will grow as student.
Professor D'Andrea was wonderful! She expects you to put in the work, but if you do, you'll succeed. Her feedback is timely and very valuable.
She teaches very well and makes online courses very simple to complete for students.
Professor D'Andrea was one of the best professors I have had so far. I enjoyed this class. Constructive criticism I give is to limit the required words in DBs because, with the kind of learner I am, I feel I can better answer the prompt with quality instead of quantity; I felt that sometimes I was using fillers which in turn lowered my scores.
Professor D'Andrea was one of the best professors I had. I enjoyed this class. Constructive criticism I give is to lower required words in DBs because, being the learner I am, it is easier to focus on quality or quantity. I felt I had to use fillers sometimes which in turn lowered my grade on these assignments.
Her class is very interesting and assignments are easy. Lot of group work and some simple homework. She's great!
-grading criteria is based more on the professor's opinions rather than the explicit rubric which makes it hard to earn excellent grades since you don't know what exactly you're being graded on (you can follow the rubric and still get lower grades) -professor added good comments/replies on the assignments
rubrics were given for all assignments, but grades were based more on the professor's opinion rather than whether you followed the rubric-I could meet all word count requirements and answer each question fully but still didn't get full credit for most assignments unless I went extremely overboard. the professor gave good feedback and comments
I really enjoyed her class. Her assignments are relevant to real-world issues and so is the reading material. The discussions are fun and easy as long as you read the material and watch the videos she provides for you. This professor always responds to emails in a timely manner. She is fun, kind, and very enthusiastic about what she is teaching.
I really enjoyed her class. The reading material is interesting and very in-depth. The discussions are fun, interesting, and easy as long as you read the material. She responds quickly to emails and cares about her students.
Ms. Gayle is a kind and patient instructor. although I missed two appointments with her she never act differently that why I missed the appointment. anytime I sent an email she replied very soon on that day. Thank you, Ms. Gayle,
Ms. Gayle, is a kind and patient instructor. I missed two appointments with her. She never shows upset mode.
Ms. Gayle is a patient and kind instructor. She helped me a lot in my studies. also, answered my emails in close business days.
The Professor was very nice, caring and helpful instructor. She helps you to learn from your mistakes with giving you feedbacks. I would defiantly take her class again in future.
The Professor was very nice, helpful and caring. She was very nice when she was teaching us. The Professor will help you to learn from your mistakes by giving you feedbacks. I will recommend her for anyone who is taking Sociology classes.
Very fair and accessible teaching. Solid class as an intro to Sociology. Not too difficult but can be thought provoking.
Very fair and accessible teacher. A few papers but very flexible on format as long as you answer the prompts.
Really good professor that cares about her students!
Great professor! Really cares about her students success
I like the information. Just make a dictionary for the online book.
Good lectures.
Professor D'Andrea is amazing, it is up to the students if they want to pass honestly, since she gives so many opportunity for missed or low quiz grades.
I appreciated the spread out of assignments, as it was not overwhelming/ hard to complete. I always received good feedback about my discussions/ critical advice. I enjoyed taking the class.
The professor was very organized and presented the class curriculum in a understanding way.
I had a great semester in this class and appreciated the professor's feedback on my assignments.
Professor D'Andrea's class was structured at a pace that was very manageable which made learning the course content extremely pleasant. She gave detailed feedback on all assignments from week one through the end of the semester. She also offers an optional makeup assignment that can be the difference between letter grades.
I appreciated the fairness in professor D'Andrea's grading and feedback. It made me want to do better each week.
The professor does a good job of explaining what there needs to be read and done to complete the course.
The professor is very kind and makes the online course easy to follow.
I enjoyed the online course as it was well organized.
She is the best teacher. Give us the easy way to do.
Professor Gayle will always listen to you. She doesn't like laptops during her lectures, so I would recommend bringing a pencil and paper to lectures in case she says something you want to remember. Her heavy-point assignments are 500-word essays, but they are easier than they sound, and there is one group project you work on throughout the year.

I enjoyed her class and learned a lot from her class. She gets back to you at as soon as possible, and she is very helpful. Something I really liked that she did was send out reminders about homework or study plans due, it helped me a lot through the semester since I had a lot of other work.
I really enjoyed this class! Attendance is important on days we did our group project but I thought the way it was set up made it actually enjoyable. The class is not difficult if you do your work. Such a great professor for this class and I would definitely take one of her classes again!
Prof. D'Andrea is a great professor! I took this class asynchronously but she was informative and gave great feedback on assignments with great detail. You can tell she's passionate about what she does, and she's very considerate of others. She gives out weekly updates to keep you on top of assignments, and I appreciated that. Great instructor!
I would recommend taking Professor D'Andrea. She is quick to grade assignments and gives great feedback.
I would recommend Professor D'Andrea for anyone who needs to take a Sociology class. Professor D'Andrea is very helpful, knowledgeable, and leaves great feedback. I enjoyed her class very much.
She is a great professor, there is a good amount of reading to do, but it isn't hard. She gives a good amount of extra credit and grades fairly with good feedback. The Neworld meetings and presentation at the end were great, our group was amazing and the class was enjoyable. I would take her again as a professor without question.
The professor herself was really nice and I appreciated her emails reminding us about assignments as most professors let you manage that yourself. However, the units themselves were entirely on the textbook. I would have appreciated some form of notes or a power point with the information conveyed in a different style than textbook writings.
Great teacher! Lots of work, but very manageable.
I have taken Professor D'Andrea's classes twice and each time it was super simple, easy to understand, and I genuinely learned a lot.
I have been in Professor D'Andrea's class twice, and each time it was simple, easy to understand, and I genuinely learned a lot. Its truly not hard to pass or get an A, as long as you do the work.
My second class with Dr.D'Andrea, and I can confirm that she's an amazing professor who both cares a lot about her students and the material she's teaching. One of the best professors at Reynolds without a doubt.
This is my second course with Dr.D'Andrea and I can confirm that she's absolutely delightful and passionate about her work and teaching others!
Overall, this professor was amazing and such a gem to work with! From her super sweet motivational emails all the way to her grading system. You can tell she knows exactly what she is talking about. I have absolutely no complaints with this class and I have genuinely learned and retained so much.
This professor is such a sweetheart and she gives excellent critiques on your assignments! Would definitely take again.
I really liked taking SOC 211 with Professor D'Andrea. She is clear with instruction and grading. The class content is actually applicable to real life, which I enjoyed.
Very good professor, Be there for her group project or you will lose points, not the group.
Make sure that you show up to the group project days or you lose points. Great professor though, with good lectures.
Pace of the class was nice. The material was easy to digest. There was clear communication weekly on expectations and grading was fair. This was an online course and I would take it again.
She make the course somewhat easy to understand and i really no interest or much knowledge on the subject. She is very forgiving on the study plans so don't sweat to much if you forget some of them. I would recommend her to anyone who needs an elective course for their degree.
Her lectures were engaging and she comes to class prepared with articles, photos, and handouts of real-world examples to help relate the material. Just keep up a good routine with the study plans, quizzes, discussions, and writing assignments and you'll do fine.
Stay on top of the weekly study plans and quizzes!! Don't forget about the writing assignments either, they're worth a bunch. Take it from me, DON'T procrastinate. The class is easy if you are on top of your assignments.
I wasn't exactly taught I was just given the material and and instructions than graded according to how good or bad my work was. I still enjoyed the content but the grading was a bit strict for having to write over 700 words for some assignments.
Class was properly managed and easy to learn, all assignments were laid out clearly and were graded well. Provided help and suggestions for written assignments.
The course is easy to follow, and the teacher lists all the tasks on the calendar, which is very useful. However, I lost some marks due to submitting assignments a few minutes late, so managing time efficiently is essential. On the bright side, the professor provided extra credit, which helped me to achieve an A for the semester.
Rather not explain.
I wasn't taught about anything. I was just given the material and instructions then was graded according to how good or bad my work was in a sense. I still found the content informative, but the grading was a bit strict for having to write a large number of words for a decent grade. Other than that, I enjoyed the class.
There wasn't much teaching involve but I'm sure it's just an online school thing. I don't learn much without really hearing or seeing it. It was hard to get a perfect score on assignments that were written. So many word requirements, I think without the requirements I wouldn't have scored so low, but I was so concerned about what I should add next.
She was a nice person in general and allowed for time to talk things through and go over material if need be. She was honest when emailing and helped solve grading issues. The course was more self paced with weekly due dates. Make sure you adhere to these due dates because late work is not really accepted.
Attendance and participation are required in this class, including effort. If you choose not to attend class, then your grades will show otherwise.
Attendance and participation are required in this class, including effort. If students, choose not to attend class then their grades will show otherwise.
she's a great professor but to be honest I didn't like the subject only took this class because i need it for my major.
This professor is very detailed and thorough when it comes to assignments. She is willing to work with you if any technical or personal issues come about. Hope that you enjoy the class as much as I did!!!!!
She is a great professor and the material is easy to understand. I have taken two courses with Professor D' Andrea, and I can attest that she is a wonderful instructor.
Overall, she is a great professor and the course is easy to follow.
Online teaching kind of gives way for a disconnect between students and the material but she's done a great job with setting it up, been an extremely positive energy, and made the class very easy to follow. Would absolutely take again!
Professor D'Andrea is the best! This was my second semester with her and to say she is one of my favorite Professor's would be an understatement. She gives great advice and is willing to help her students be very successful. At the end of the course she does offer extra credit so do not forget about that.
She is a good professor but you have to do your assignments on time otherwise you will lose 50% points.
I took her SOC211 class. She is a great professor.
Extremely receptive and gives good feedback, provides good readings and interesting prompts for writings that provide good discussion.
Professor D'Andrea is a great professor. She gives great feedback and is super helpful. Easy class, I got an F in this course because of my failure to turn in assignments so that is all on me.
Very good teacher, took an online class from her and everything went smoothly. Would recommend to others.
The format and guidelines of the course were straightforward and easy to follow. I loved her structure. She also responded to emails in a timely manner.
I found Prof. D'Andrea to be very thorough and offers great feedback on assignments. I also found her to be easily accessible outside of normal class hours.
Professor D'Andrea was really great and always supportive/encouraging. I am not a sociology major but the content was really interesting and I could apply a lot of the information I learned to my personal life. She was very responsive to emails when sent. (Even when it was last minute about an assignment, or on a weekend).
Gives very helpful reminders and is a prompt email responder
This Professor does have a textbook for class, but no need to purchase as she provides everything you need with each module. There is a good amount of reading, great lectures, and extra resources, and the amount of homework per week is definitely manageable if you stay on top of it, and its easier to get it done earlier in the week if your able to.
Professor Gayle was excellent. Response time was faster than others, and she was always willing to help.
very clear expectations and well organized class
Pretty easy class there are 4/6 written assignments you have to complete which are 600 word minimums
She was nice and willing to help. There was a lot of writing to me in the short period of time. She was a good Professor. She did not mind if you reached out if you had any problems.
The expectations for grading are presented at the start of the semester and should been kept in mind if you are looking to earn all points possible on an assignment.
I enjoyed the class. very sweet and always responded to emails. took during summer I enjoyed the far moving class
One of the best professors I've had so far. She gives lots of feedback on assignments (good&bad), and is always willing to help in areas you may be weak in. You can tell she really cares about her students success in & outside of her classroom. Textbooks are in canvas and the chapters aren't to long. As long as you do the reading it's an easy A.
This was a very well-structured class. She gives you options on what major assignments to complete and the amount of work is more than reasonable. She is very kind and responds quickly to emails, she genuinely wants the students to succeed. Excellent experience overall, highly recommend taking this class.
Ms. D'Andrea is a great SOC 200 professor, She checks in on our canvas app reminding her students about due dates and ways to succeed in the class even when she doesn't have to. Class layout is up to date and weekly study plans and quizzes are easy to cooperate with. Mid/end semester DB's are composed of summarizing what you have learned, nice lady
Always helpful will listen and give great feedback.
Professor D'Andrea was very professional and informative.
While I wasn't looking forward to taking this class, I ended up learning a good amount and enjoyed not having to commute to campus. Professor D'Andrea is friendly, knowledgeable, and easily accessible when you have questions. Discussions are a part of your assignments and you also have to write 3 short essay/research papers during the semester.
Very kind and understanding and accepting
I would recommend this class for anyone who needs to take SOC 211. Professor D'Andrea uses a free online textbook, which is nice. Fair grading and professor D'Andrea leaves helpful feedback.
Easy work the online text we used was super easy to follow. We did have a few writing assignments but overall my favorite class to date.
Professor D'Andrea is a top notch professional and a credit to her field and her school. She is also an awesome advisor. We used free materials and her assignments are original and are applicable to the course of study. She knows how to utilize Canvas and also responds to email communication very quickly. The class was challenging but realistic.
This is my second class with this professor and both times have been good. Everything is very clearly explained and you have constant reminders of when things are due.
The material is easy to follow and she gives amazing feedback on the written assignments by far my favorite class!
If you want to fall in love with Cultural Anthropology this is your class. This professor is heaven sent, I would take this again!
This professor was very active in the online course. She provided excellent feedback. 3/5 100 point assignments were required, very nice for those with busy schedules. Grading was quick and feedback was excellent. Appropriate amount of reading, each module was appropriately heavy with coursework.
Professor D'Andrea was very understanding when it came to me having things come up that were out of my control in my personal life. She allowed us to make up work. There was a lot of reading involved, but the layout of the material made it easier to understand. I loved the way she checked in with us and gave us reminders when things were due.
Extremely well-organized & cares about students. I'm disappointed I won't have her again.
This professor was a great professor
she was patient, understanding, class was overall simple.
Professor D'Andrea teaches well. I enjoyed the course and learned a lot. I think she cares about her students and wants them to succeed, but she's a fair grader, so you have to work hard to get a high mark.
She's a really good professor, she is really understanding!
Would take again! She's a great professor.
Would take again!
Would take again! She's a great professor
Ms. D'Andrea is an amazing teacher that will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and knowledgeable about the work she is giving out. I could email her on a weekend about any question and she will get back to me on that day or either the day after. She will give you great feedback on essays to assist with further essays.
Gayle was amazing from the start! And yes, that is what she told us to call her. If you are a busy, working student yet still looking for a class to open your mind and invest in yourself- this is it! She posted everything in advance, gave in depth, attentive detail and gave supportive resources along with textbook assignments weekly.
An amazing and understanding professor.
Clear Objectives, Organized and Structured Content. Very hard-working professor.
She is very nice and understanding.
I took Professor D'Andrea's summer sociology course and although it was not fun for over the summer, the course in general was pretty easy if you took notes and did the study plans.
The class is really easy. All assignments are known and available from the start. Reading materials are free and uploaded by the Professor. Many opportunities to improve your grade. Assignments are very flexible, concise, and easy to complete. Just have time management when doing the readings and you should succeed.
professor was good. But I felt that I need more clarification on assignment instructions.
She's amazing and a great communicator
Professor Andrea is very respected person. She was very nice to me. She explain every things if you ask. I would recommend 100% to take her class.
I am taking Gayle's sociology 200 online 7-week class. I would definitely recommend it. It does take a few hours a week to complete the work but its an easy A in my opinion. Read two chapters a week, take two open book quizzes a week and 3 essays total.
She was a good professor
This class basically addresses social issues. Overall, very interesting and I would take again.
Very helpful and always grades fast!
teaches a lot about social issues, would take this class again
This professor is amazing at giving feedback and examples on different topics.
Ms. Andrea is so nice and gives lots of options to boost your grade; extra credit and options to drop your lowest grades. It's a lot of reading with a lot of videos, not too bad. 1 quiz per module. No tests, just two discussion boards (middle & end of sem). HOWEVER, unless you need to, avoid taking the 7 week class - it was a lot of work.
Great professor! very caring and understanding, and also a fast grader. She prepares you with all the material that is needed for class. Would recommend her for any class.
While I took the course in it's online variant, I thought the teacher was very helpful and insightful and even when at the start of the year I explained I'm not very good at keeping up with online classes, they helped meet me halfway at times and kept me in the know. I'm appreciative of her class and would take a follow up if the opportunity arose.
She is seriously awesome. I feel I've become a better writer because of her insightful feedback on all assignments. The writing assignments helped me learn the materiel. I would take her again 100%.
Best online class I have ever taken. Generous late work policy and not too many assignments. Readings and associated writing assignments were interesting and actually helpful for learning and understanding the material. Overall great professor and class.
She's very nice I recommend communicating with her outside of just the class because she's very kind and interesting to talk to. You can also tell she really enjoys the material because she replies to every assignment talking about the subject.
Professor Andrea is one of the best teachers in Reynolds. I like the way she explains in context. I also enjoy to study plan which are really useful for quiz and assignments. The more you read, the more you understand.Thee additional sources are comprehensive. I would recommend you to take her class and you will not regret about that.
Mrs Andrea is an excellent instructor she is always available and responds back to any questions or concerns. She put up the course work before to which gave us the opportunity to get ahead if we wanted the opportunity. I think she is an awesome instructor communication was Excellent!!The course work is not hard and there is extra credit opportunit
First and foremost I would like to say this wS a great class which we had an excellent instructor who communicate very effectively always there if you need help or have concerns respond back quickly gave extra credit opportunity. I give her a a+. Very good professor who I believe loves what she does. Semester went smooth she made it clear.
Professor D'Andrea really cares and wants you to succeed.
This professor is one of the easier teachers I had to deal with during my entire Reynolds career. She gives good feedback on assignments, she gives extensions if you miss an assignment. I would highly recommend this teacher for any student looking to take sociology.
Ms. D'Andrea is absolutely wonderful. Online courses can be difficult but she is present, attentive and considerate. She has tons of extra information on each lecture to make sure we understand the material. She is great at responding to emails. Would take again :)
This professor makes learning about sociology enjoyable. She makes class entertaining and it isn't just her speaking a bunch of facts and terms, she connects sociology to things that we will understand and recognize. Differently recommend this professor to anyone wanting to take sociology.
This class was by far my favorite class this semester. She makes all her lectures enjoyable and interesting as well as applicable to current events. I really liked that the rubrics for each written assignment were straightforward too.
Prof. Gayle is one of the best professors I have ever had. I LOVED her class, she's so funny and super nice. She'll be there for you when you have any questions/concerns. She actually cares about students and each class you always learn something new! You never get bored in class. She's the best!
Professor Gayle was a great professor. I feel like I learned a lot from this course and it was interesting. There was a normal amount of work, maybe a little more on the heavy side but that is what is expected from higher level classes. She was very nice and seemed to care a lot about my grades and how to improve.
Professor Gayle D' Andrea was such a breath of fresh air for me in so many ways. As an adult going back to school it was a mix of emotions. She has excellent communication skills, her grading system is very flexible, and she gives pure non bias and genuine feedback she truly does care for her students, and she is passionate about what she teaches.
Gayle is a great professor. The assignments require lots of reading but it has opened my eyes and was pretty enjoyable. The work is pretty straight forward but she does grade a bit tough- not terrible, she seems understanding . Would recommend this professor to anyone looking to learn the information without being worried about hefty work load.
make sure you attend the classes and keep up with the work, if you have problems she will work with you.
Good lectures and good assignment layout, would take again.
I really enjoyed having Professor D'Andrea! Although the grading can be tough, she is very personable with her students and understands when there is some struggle. My best advice is to read each assignments instructions and rubric very carefully and follow the guidelines exactly as stated in order to receive the highest number of points.
Tough grader on papers.
Great online class. Ability to work ahead. Lots of reminders to get work done on time and easily accessible coursework.
I like how she sends weekly reminders. She is available and responds quickly. Upbeat personality. clear syllabus.
weekly reminders. Clear grading criteria. Upbeat personality.
I took this class as a co-req for VCU. Overall I learned a lot and the material and information needed to pass this class was easily accessible. She's a very responsive instructor and gives great feedback on written assignments.
The teacher was able to clearly state the facts and material being taught. The teacher reworded the material multiple time in order to allow the students to understand the material. Overall, a great class to take and would take it again.
Great experience all in all. Would for sure take her class again. There is a clear expectation set in place and if you do the work, it is not hard to achieve.
This was my second time having Professor D'Andrea; it was a great experience! She graded assignments promptly, responded quickly to Canvas messages and emails, and had everything on Canvas organized neatly! I will say she can be a tough grader. It's not a class where you can quickly do an assignment and get an A. Overall, she is great!
wont recommend
Very good professor. A lot of readings but easy assignments. Tough with grading.
This professor is amazing. She is so kind and so lovely. There were always opportunities to improve grades and extra credit. She was also very flexible outside the classroom, I always was able to receive help if needed. Most likely you won't even need extra help as her class is set up as super simple and easy. Could not recommend her more!!!
She is a very effective instructor who knows the material well and whose lectures break down the material wonderfully.
Very nice and cares about her students. Tries to engage conversation in the classroom. No projects, but a couple major assignments that are super easy. Drops lowest quiz at end of semester. 10/10 recommend. No test.
She gives good feedback, but I often lacked clarity on where I needed to improve with certain assignments. Her class is very well organized and I would absolutely recommend her class.
She is very nice. She always tells students what they're supposed to do. The quizzes and study plans are easy. If you have problems with something she will help. I felt like this course was interesting.
Really good job overall, but I was frustrated by how she graded. Took off points for things that she hadn't said we needed to do. Example: assigned an essay about our favorite things we'd learned. I wrote about lots of things from my favorite week of class. Took off points because I didn't include things from other weeks. She didn't say to do that!
She is obviously very interested in the things she teaches. I love when a teacher is excited to help students learn and participate. This course taught me so many insightful things about society and myself.
The actions and feedback from her support the success of students.
i had to take a 7 week course with professor Gayle. if i were to have been able to take a regular 12 week course with her and had more time for her assignments i feel like i would've gotten a better grade. don't take her 7 week class if you don't have time to put in the effort, because she wants you to be very detailed and its a lot for only 7 week
I think she did really amazing overall as a teacher. She definitely tried to get everyone involved and interested in the material as well as the in-class lectures. She always had such a positive attitude and was very understanding. The workload wasn't too hard and she made the guidelines and deadlines easily attainable.
Gayle was an amazing teacher, her class was very simple. The only thing I'll say is that the lectures take the entire class, most of the time it was just her lecturing for an hour and a half. She was very kind and understanding :)
Gayle was a great professor and her work was easy. It was insightful and education and not just busy work. I learned a lot in this class and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn about sociology.
She gives extra credit and is very nice. The work is easy to follow. The only somewhat difficult part of the class is the short essays. Overall, I would recommend this class.
I took Professor D'Andrea's 7-week accelerated class. Because this was an accelerated class, there were quite a few assignments, however, late assignments were accepted throughout the entire semester for every single mandatory assignment that was due. Flexible. Respectful.Inclusive.Highly educated.Encouraged group discussion.Informative.
The assignments given are not too bad as long as you take good notes from the chapters. They give good feedback on the assignments so you can learn and grow from it.
Overall good professor and I liked that she gives you plenty of time to get any assignment/quizzes completed.
Mrs. D'Andrea is a excellent teacher, kind, caring and is always open to reach. I would recommend taking her class.
I had a wonderful time in her class this is my first course that i've taken at any community college and my first year at Reynolds and professor Gayle is a great teacher to start off with. When you need helps she offers assistance on how you could improve providing understanding of the assignment and this class was fairly easy to keep track with.
This was my first community college class and am glad to have had professor Gayle for my Sociology class she was fair and always warned students of upcoming assignments and due dates and offered assistance if you asked for it. She made the class fairly easy to keep up with and there was never a dull day in class.
there is a lot of writing.
Professor D'Andrea was a very well-spoken, engaging professor. She did a great job at getting the class involved but never forced classroom participation. You can tell she is passionate about what she does and it is refreshing to see.
There is a good amount of writing and thinking involved. You will have to be required to read modules to complete the tasks.
This is a great example of a class that is engaging and informative without being too difficult for no reason. I feel like I absorbed a lot of important information and nuance without a lot of stress. She grades very quickly while also providing thoughtful and engaging feedback for every large assignment.
This was an engaging and informative class that wasn't too difficult to get through. The assignments were interesting and are designed to make you think about your own surroundings and choices.
She was one of my favorite professors I have had so far in college. The class uses an online textbook where you'll complete reading modules and quizzes. As long as you put the time in, you should receive a good grade.
This is a good sociology class to learn from. You learn all the necessary material you need to and can do the work online.
everything ok just wayyyyy too many papers.
I've had this professor twice now, I really loved her the first time but this year felt a little different. Despite my own person experiences, she's very kind and extremely helpful.
The class was easy and informative, I forgot to do one mandatory assignment and still got a B.
The Class is great and Fun! Professor is very lenient and kind.
This professor is great and informative but get ready to work!
Very good teacher, caring, kind, respectful and fair. The readings assigned each week are very informative and interesting. I think what was a little difficult were the short essays, but the readings and quizzes are easy. Overall, I think everyone can take is class even if you are or not interesting in sociology.
She gives very detailed feedback on papers you write, several comments and critiques, grades them in a nitpicky way, but doesn't deduct an insane number of points for this. Large writing assignments weekly w/ several detailed questions on the reading, not just repeating what you learned, time consuming, but it does help the student actually learn.
Class is super interesting. Professor is very fair and precise with grading. Detailed syllabus and weekly assignments.
Professor Andrea gives good feedback on assignments. The class materials were interesting with a good amount of discussion from the class attendees. She is very fair and accommodating giving partial credit for late work.
The class is super interesting and the professor is very fair and precise with grading. The syllabus and weekly assignments are detailed well.
They were very helpful and a good listener. Definitely read up on your study guides and you will be good.
Gayle was fantastic! I would 1000 % recommend her.
She is great with feedback on assignments and there is not an overwhelming amount of work.
I think that this class was easy but it was a tonnnn of reading. The only sort of difficult parts were the writings given during the week but even that wasn't very difficult and could be completed in a day if you paid attention to the readings.
Professor Gayle D' Andrea was honestly the most understanding professor for SOC 200. The class was straightforward and pretty easy as long as you stay on top of your assignments. She uploads any handouts or PowerPoints she used in class onto Canvas for her students to use to help with other assignments or to study with.
Professor Gayle is an awesome Sociology teacher. You will do a lot of work, so be careful if you are taking the 7-week class instead of the 15-week class. I should have taken the 15 week version to avoid two chapters, two quizzes, and heavy writing each week. I would give this advice for almost any class though tbh. Take 15 week classes.
This structure for this class makes it very easy to understand what is expected and I found the online text to be very easy to navigate. I enjoyed learning with the modules and the discussion posts made it actually fun to communicate with other students. I recommend this course to anyone looking to get into sociology.
Professor Gayle D'Andrea syllabus is straight forward. She is easy to reach out. I took a 7 week course so the class was rapid. There was a lot of reading, but this was manageable if you stay consistent with the work. There are sort quizzes after reading each module. Which reflect on what you have read. Overall, I enjoy this course.
She is such a kind lady who helped everyone to succeed. She really cares about what she does and all of the students. I would definitely recommend everyone to have her as a professor. I believe the class is perfectly designed how it is. The current format allows everyone to succeed if they just do the work and hand it in on time.
I took the 7-week course, and even though there was a lot of writing that could be tough at times each assignment is thought-provoking and interesting. She grades fairly and gives good feedback, and its really clear that she cares for her students and helping them improve.
Doesn't offer zoom calls to my knowledge or records class sessions in case of absence.
If you take a seven-week course for this class, make sure you complete all your work in time for full credit. It was a good course overall.
She was a great teacher and gave amazing feedback on every assignment you completed which was always a 600-word essay about that module. It sounds rough at first but it gets easier and more understandable with each one. Overall, it was a pretty simple/straightforward class and I would definitely take her again.
Prof D'Andrea is freaking awesome and she is very clear about grading, expectations, and communication for the class. She is also a likeable person and very understanding and supportive.
Professor Gayle D'Andrea runs an organized and manageable class. The workload is reasonable as long as you stay on top of the assignments. She is understanding and makes the material accessible to students.
Professor Gayle is a kind, understanding instructor who makes the class straightforward and manageable. The online materials and modules are easy to navigate, and unstuckstudy ai can be a helpful study tool alongside the free textbook.
Great class!
A wonderful prof. Provides great & critical feedback. I wouldn't say she's an easy grader but she's fair. Clear course outline, expectations & deadlines. It's a 10 module course, but does not require completion of all 10. She keeps 4 reflections you did well & 2 of 3 assignments. If you do well through the semester, she may not require a final.
I loved this class, Gayle is so well versed on sociology and I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn more about the subject.
