Fabulous class if you're a good note-taker. I'm not. He's hilarious. Tests come from his notes and you get a study guide so you can look stuff up online if you miss a day (not always accurate though!) I didn't buy the book and neither should you.

I adore that man. He's hilarious and he teaches. The content of the class is confusing, but he finds a way to get the message across. He's an amazing man and I strongly suggest taking this class. It was the best experience of my college career.

The best art lecture class ever. Ge was interesting, helpful, and understanding. Turned written quizzes into fun take home art projects. Makes you laugh and think, and really gets his point across.

He's a little wierd sometimes, but a very good teacher. There is no attendence policy, but he does let out early for most every class. And the tests are sooo easy as long as you have notes from all the classes. All in all a great class.

I love this class and this guy because he teaches from the heart. He obviously knows and loves what he teaches and can get QUITE into his lectures...sometimes kinda whoa, but pretty funny. Will compromise with tests because he just wants you to rock!

He's nuts! He has clear, concise lesson plans and it's very easy to take notes and know what's important. Tests are a piece of cake as long as you take notes and pay attention!

really cool and craaaazy. sometimes i didn't get his grading though. you have to have exactly what he wants in order to get an A. if you're missing a word or two, he'll take like 5 points off everything. overall, he's awesome though.

This is a very exciting class. Ge Baas is cool and is one of a kind with his personality. He is picky on answers though. You will be fine as long as you answer the question in complete detail. I highly recommend this class to others.

Take him! He's a wonderful man. He's very worldly and seems to know everything about anything u want to know. No attendance policy. No homework EVER. Just 2 take home tests and one in class test. Doesn't care if you come in late or leave early. The funny thing is that everyone came every day anyway!

You would be dumb to pass along this class. There is no homework and there are only 2 tests (both take home). The final isn't take home, but it is only on one section. He will help you out with anything (even the tests) and he my be one of the coolest people i have ever met! TAKE THIS CLASS!

If I could take this class all year I would. 2 take home tests that are based on some notes you take...he is very interesting in how he teaches his lessons-I sat and talked to him once and he is the coolest guy ever. No homework-you get out 1/2 hour early every day. TAKE THIS CLASS

Very good teacher, excellent at explaining concepts, nice guy in general. Beware the grading system though, there are no curves or extra credit assignments so make sure you do well on the tests! Definitely reccomended.

This is guy is the man. Lets you out abput 40 minutes early every class. Only two take home tests all essay format. Hes picky when grading them and you can't argue because he grades upon what he thinks is right. Philosophy is such a B.S. course anyway, might a well take it with G Baas. E-Z A-/B+

Ge is freakin man! Wisdom, Intelligence, Cultures....hes got em. Dude is insightful as hell, chill as they come, and is just down right interesting! 3 take home tests...that make you think though. Oh and ask him to show you some ancient Tao studies and he'll blow your mind man, cool stuff.

Ge is a different type of professor. He is a good teacher and his lectures are incredibly interesting and interactive. Don't take his tests lightly though, I've seen people get horrible grades because they blew them off. Grades strictly on tests so go to class and take notes! Always lets out early.

He's an odd man, but I like him all the same. Pretty chill and very helpful. Uses great examples for some abstract stuff. 3 tests, 2 are take-home. It's an interesting fun class and an A is pretty easy to come by if you don't completely blow the class off.

awesome professor- he is very easy to understand if you have intelligence in areas like psych, philosophy, english, etc. (analytical types of areas)- he is hard to understand for people of other types of intelligence- luckily, it doesn't matter for the most part b/c the tests are completely based off of notes, but you do need to somewhat grasp it

i took the guy twice becuase he was so awesome. people actually went to class for a TTH at 5. If you need to take a philosophy class, this guy is the way to go.

Awesome. People who think he's hard must be dumb as bricks. I took notes and owned the exam with a 97. No need to get the book, no homework, take-home tests. I had him for GHUM and pretty much the same deal except tests were in class. They're short answer/short essay. 3 for the semester, and the last one is scheduled before exam week.

Crazy man, not very hard to understand but an extremely picky grader so you have to write down every word he says.

Great teacher. quirky, yes and a picky grader but very easy to understand. 3 tests in class your grade depends entirely on the tests. if you pay attention and take notes the class is simple

All in all, he's a pretty good professor. He knows what he's talking about, copy him down word for word and memorize it for the test. 3 tests, all essays. Go to class everyday or get a friend who takes really good notes and you should come out with a B

CRAZIEST GUY EVER!!! Not a bad class, though. The only grades are test. They are hard, but listening and just taking notes in class helps, although his grading is "if you don't word it exactly how I want, you lose points!" Otherwise, a smart guy and a pretty good class, very entertaining!

This class is very interesting... But as long as you take good notes and read book = easy. 3 tests know stuff word for word, as Ge Baas says"It isn't me that wants the answer it is the ancient philosophers." Pass 1 of the 3 tests and he passes you!

This was by far my favorite class at JMU. The people who hate it don't go to class and do bad on the tests. Go to class! it's so interesting and Ge really knows his stuff. Cool guy, a bit eccentric, but thats what makes it so fun!

Greatest teacher I've ever had. He takes concepts of eastern religions and basically teaches you things that can take even the most educated people years to learn. Classes always fun. Cancels class quite a bit. Take good notes. Tests are free response and he looks for his exact words. Bottom line, take this class

this was the easiest class i took at JMU. I have a 3.4 ... yet somehow I managed to get a C with this guy.. go figure.

Love him! He is so enthusiastic and relates the facts to stories we understand. I will say that even though he doesn't take attendance, you NEED to go to class or you will fail the take-home tests. Take notes on EVERYTHING he writes on the board and things he focuses on in his lecture and you'll be fine. I'll be taking another of his classes!

Ge Baas is a really cool professor and interesting guy. Class consists of reading the book, and discussing it. No work outside of class aside from 2 take home tests in which you basically re-write your notes.

Ge Baas is awesome. He loves everything he teaches and that shows in his lectures. I actually wanted to go to his class a lot of the time. Final grade is the three tests so study hard for them. Tests are on everything from the lecture. For tests, do an outline and memorize everything and you'll be good. Not the easiest Gen Ed but still take him!
