My favorite teacher ever.

THIS PROFESSOR WAS GREAT IF YOU NEED A BIOLOGY CLASS YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH Mr.Dorsa. GREAT TEACHER-GREAT GUY- A REALLY COOL TEACHER YOU WOULDN'T REGRETED.TAKE HIM BEFORE HE RETIRES IF NOT YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Mr. Dorsa is one of my favorite teachers...if not the best. He explains everything fully and uses a lot of visual aids to help you understand the material. Tests were fairly easy (if you really understand the stuff). Easy "A" if you work for it

if you attend lecture and lab, your good as gold. he expects alot from his students but he has a love of the subject thats contagious..

he is an ok teacher if you attend his class take the final and study hard you would probably pass it with a C. I guess he expect you to know everything in that Biology book. The final is somewhat similar but most different from what u study.

make sure you have good memory if you take this class, because you need to know all the bones, muscles, etc by heart for the test and final, but he is a really good teacher

You can so tell that he was a hippie in the 60's! attitude-wise.. He's really cool. I was in his Physiology class in High School. Overfelt students, he uses the same material for Human Biology 020 at EVC! Keep your syllabus!

There's a lot to know in this class but overall DOrsa is a good teacher. You need to study and take time to memorize the material. I recommend taking Dorsa.

i took this class over the summer and there was so much to learn, but he made it fun. He's a good and fun teacher

grading is pretty hard. he teaches REALLY good though. i learned alot in his class. got a C but that's because i kinda slacked off. PREPARE TO DO ALOT OF STUDYING!!!

I took this class twice. The first time I didn't pay attention and I ended up getting an F. The second time, I really worked hard and received an A. A lot of work but a great professor. As long as you study and put in a good effort you will do well. Be prepared to study a lot.

Excellent teacher. Very clear, precise, to the point. No-nonsense teacher. Plays hard. Do your part and he'll do his. Lot of readings and watchings. You have to really put your head and focus on this subject. Attend reviews and you'll be ok. Class is very informative!

I hate science..But Mr Dorsa knows how to make it understandable and interesting. I actually enjoyed his class and the lab was great too

one of the most off the hook teachers i ever had. he makes you bust your ass for a grade but he knows how to teach. you gotta try hard for a good grade but you gotta try harder for a bad grade. One word to describe Dorsa; Awesome. Even his name has something to do w/his subject. His exams are straightfoward &based on the lecture. You don't use the book much, just for a couple of references. If you don't study though, you won't get your grade. No surprises on exams. He'll tell you what to study. So study it.

The class was cool. Each week there is 2 lab quizzes and for the semester there is one paper to do. Overall the class was interesting and i enjoyed it. Its also best to take it with people you know, in order to have some one to study with.

I needed a friend, Mr.Dorsa was there. I'll never forget this man. I wish I could've done better in his class. He had nothing to do with my failure.

Mr. Dorsa, talk about "living" what he teaches. This man has the knowledge and the ability to teach biology. Very polite and professional, easy going, concentrates on all students and is very helpful, and has a humor. Summer class was very hard but it was worth it. He is a great teacher as well as a great person. Highly recommend.

The best teacher I have ever had. He focuses on everyone in the class, and leaves no one out. You can email him any questions and he responds right away. Always there to help. Tests are based on lectures. If you pay attention and remember what he tells you will be on the test, you will do good. He is very funny, too. Loved that class

Mr. Dorsa is one of THE best teachers at EVC! I can not stress how much I hate science, but Mr. Dorsa is the most helpful teacher I know. He really makes it easy for you to learn & ask questions. I took his class over the summer. Everything is very straight forward & easy. Just study directly out of your notes & you should score an A, if not an A+!

Mr. D is the best teacher I have ever taken. He really teaches you. He wants you to learn biology for life not just for a test. He keeps you on your toes with quizzes every week and homework, and a research paper, and 3 large tests. You definately learn from him, and his teaching style is fun.

Dorsa's a great bio teacher. He's incredibly knowledgable. I really learned alot in this class. His weekly quizzes are cake if you read over your notes couple times. Midterms are ok cuz he tells you what you need to know ahead of time. He's one of those teachers that sincerely wants students to succeed in their classes.

Professor Dorsa is a good bio teacher he knows his stuff and will help you succeed. I am still taking the class and currently have a B 81% there is a lot to study if you want a good grade. but he tells you mostly what you need to know to pass

Mr. Dorsa is very passionate about teaching and very knowledgable in his subject. He'll know you by name and he'll help you in anyway he can. There's A LOT of memorization in his class, but almost everything's based on lecture, so TAKE GOOD NOTES. Studying is a must..especially for his weekly quizzes.

Professor Dorsa has a passion and it shows. He cares about his students and the subject he teaches. He makes sure that everyone knows what's going on rather than just going over it and moving on. He's a great guy and an amazing teacher! I highly recommend him for Biology!

Mr. Dorsa is a great professor at EVC. He is very well organized, has excellent teaching methods, and he has passionate towards teaching his students. If you stick with him towards the end, he will help you succeed in his class. I had Dorsa for Sping 09 and he is the best science teacher that I have ever had. Lastly, Party not hearty.

Mr. Dorsa is one of the few teachers at evergreen that I actually enjoyed studying hard for. He knows what hes teaching and has a sense of humor, he moves quick so be sure to write fast. Dont miss class, each lecture has lots of info and be sure to study for the weekly quizes. Having study groups is a big plus. Study hard n u'll get a good grade.

Mr Dorsie is a FANTASTIC teacher!His quizes and midterms are hard but that's why you need to STUDY!! if you don't study in this class you will not pass.. TRUST ME! you defenitly need the text book and you have to be in class everyday or else you will miss out alot. Dorsie is a cool teacher i HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. (i call him dorsie for a nickbname)

Mr. Dorsa has got to be my favorite teacher of all time. He makes the class very interesting. Attendance is mandatory. If you miss one class then you won't do good on the weekly quiz.

I loooved being a student in his class. It is hard and there is alot of memorization, but he makes it fun and interesting. One of my top favorite teachers ever. Great prof... Has good humor!!! Lots of quizzes, two midterms and final (hard), BUT literally pin points the answers during review. Gives lots of extra credits to help slackers like myself to boost our grade. I'm very bad w/science, but passed with a B... I highly recommend this prof!

Great teacher!!! A little strict, but organized, funny, & keeps class interesting. I didn't like science but passes with an A. Just attend lectures, do homework, and study for quizzes, there's one every week, but he gives good outlines on what will be on each quiz & test.Lots of room for points and even extra credit. You might even learn something!

Love Mr. Dorsa!!! He's the best teacher ever and is very helpful!!! Makes me want to learn more about the human body and always keeps the class fun!!! I reccomend him to anyone who wants to have fun while learning.

Prof. Dorsa is by far one of the best teachers I've ever encountered in my years of study. Greatest professor I have ever had!!!! This professor makes sure you know your stuff. It was a lot of studying but up to this day I remember everything he taught me and I am so grateful. He is supper funny and a cool guy to talk to. Don't ever miss class because tests are based on his lectures. Study that and you'll do fine.

Best professor in CA, I am not at all a good student, but mr Dorsa mad ethis class so easy to follow, all the info comes across crystal clear! If your taking BIO take Dorsa you will not regret it

He is the greatest teacher I have ever encountered, ever! I was highly disappointed when the semester was over. I wish he were teaching more subjects. He is AWESOME and I recommend him. However, he is extremely hard and you can't miss class on tests or days you turn in homework. I busted my ass and barely got an A. He's good though.

Truly the best professor i have ever had. He has a great passion for teaching and he is extremely helpful. He is a nice man and explains everything in a way where it is easy to understand. Quizzes everyday but if you study you should have no trouble passing them all. I really did learn a lot in his Biology Class.

Mr. Gene Dorsa. Ma dawg! haha but for real though. This guy is an awesome teacher. I wasn't really into science until I took his Biology class. It was leegit, nd funny. The work load is tuff, but he'll guide you along the way. As long as you stay on top of your game, you'll be set! LOTTA memorizing of terms and stuff, but relatively easy going.

#1. You have a quiz every week (to ensure you have a basic understanding of previous lecture) #2. You'll need access to the textbook to turn in weekly hw #3. There are NO notes for tests/quizzes or 1/2 credit for assignments. So, that means that you ACTUALLY have to study, learn by asking questions, and complete your work on time. He is GREAT!

Mr. Dorsa is such a sweetheart! he makes it a point to help you to pass his class. you can even ask him ?s during the test and he'll give you hints! its a hard class lots of memorization, but with the help of a good study group and a great teacher you'll pass with flying colors! thx dorsa

He is a great teacher! His test are hard and they are fill-in the blank. You only need the book for the homework, which is due every week. You have to keep up with the lectures and it goes by fast. He has weekly quizzes. Overall, Dorsa is great teacher and I highly recommend him. I would def take another class if it was available.

Dorsa is the coolest teacher. He really loves his subject and he's so knowledgeable it's almost scary! But you HAVE to study for his quizzes and midterms or you won't pass! Its a lot to memorize and I'm used to not having to study and still getting an A so it was a real challenge for me. But it was a very enjoyable class because Dorsa made it that way.

Terrific teacher! Take really good notes and study hard and you'll do well. In no way is this class a cake walk. Although, he goes out of his way to make things easier to learn. You can learn a lot from the class if you really apply yourself. I highly recommend professor Dorsa.

Dora is great professor who really cares for his students to succeed in class. This class can be challenging because of weekly quizzes and assignments, but it is still manageable for students to pass IF you study really hard and attend classes regularly.

I have his class this semmester. It is very hard. Two textbooks. 1 research paper. 3 big examts. Final will be comprehensive. You have to learn everything, and you need to put them into your long-term memory. Homeworks and Quizzes are due every week. He is cool, and he has the will to help you if you ask him. Not easy at all. Think twice.

By far the best teacher i've had at evergreen college. Just keep up with the homework (which isn't even that hard, just defining some terms from the book), and make sure you attend his class, you will learn everything you need to learn in class and answer however many questions you may have. Makes a hard topic easy and enjoyable.

I can honestly say out of all the professors at EVC, Mr.Dorsa was by far the best. This is a 4 unit class so it's a good amount of work and the material can get heavy, but as long as you listen to Mr. Dorsa's lectures and study, your good. I was fearful of taking Bio, my last class to graduate, but Dorsa's humor and teaching abililty shines.

Yes, his class can be a lot work where you have to constantly study for his class with the quizzes each week during the semester. However, Dorsa is very helpful and cares about his students success in the class.

Very-VERY intense class. You have to continually STUDY for quizzes and 3 midterms - if you don't study you won't get a good grade. This class is LOT of work. Weekly chapter review answers and quiz, lab homework...A lot of work for this lecture and lab, otherwise very interesting to learn almost everything in this class.

Biology is definitely not easy but if you got to class, take really good notes, STUDY, ask questions if needed.. You should be fine! Hard work compare to other class, but much easier than I thought for the Bio course. As long as you take good notes and follow his lead, you will have fun and good grade. First couple weeks may be tense but once you got to know his requirements, it was getting much easier.

If you like to study and practice on lab, just follow his requirements, you will love to be in his class,he cares for his students.

Mr. Gene Dorsa is a former ESUHSD Teacher of the Year. He lives up to that title. His lectures are clear, interesting and informative. Although, even he admits that he does not draw well. So, it is important to study diagrams from the textbook when he tells you to. His labs are interesting as well and complement his lectures. GREAT TEACHER!

Best professor at EVC hands down. You have to work hard for your grade but he makes the lab and lectures interesting. The final paper was graded fairly easy. He's nice but not a pushover. If you miss a quiz, don't expect a make up quiz. He drops the lowest quiz. There's a lot.

You will have weekly tests, chapter homework's, and a research term paper. I have learned so much from Mr. Dorsa that I have ever learned from any teacher. Mr. Dorsa is an amazing instructor! His class was interesting even for a science hater. This wasn't a course of dull lectures I feared. It is a tough class but Mr. Dorsa does all he can to help each student succeed. You won't find a better professor he is the Master at teaching human biology!

Professor Dorsa is definitely my favorite professor at EVC. Though challenging, the course taught me a lot; his teaching style is impeccable, and he really helped me understand biology (and that's with science being my worst subject)! Had him for one of my science class. The points layout are clear cut, and you can view your grades anytime since he updates it on a website. I never got an A in Science before, but he answers my questions and everything just got really interesting. G. Dorsa is a very experienced professor.

Hands down Dorsa is one of the best college professors! He cares about his students and is very passionate about teaching. He his extremely helpful to all of his students. I only wish he was teaching Chemistry too! I would take him again!!!

Professor Dorsa was the best professor I've ever had. His instructions, lectures and exams are super clear. There is a lot of work that you have to put in this class but it's worth it. He inspired me to go into the biology/medical field. He never hesitates to answer student's questions until they have their answer. Study and you'll do great!

Before taking his class I didn't enjoy science but when I took his class, it was the only class that I looked forward to come to. He cares about students learning rather than just focusing on the grade. This is a 4 unit course, indubitably it will be arduous. The method Prof. Dorsa instructs will form clarity. He is one of the rarest professors who interacts with their pupils through email, which he notifies his students what is due the next day and caters acknowledgement to any inquiry. He analyzes what will be on the quiz/exams to help you pass!

If you take this class hoping for an easy A--you're wrong. Yes, he does give you extra credit opportunities --tells you exactly whats on the exams/quizzes. But don't expect to pass this class w/o putting in work. STUDY!!!!! Don't let the amount of work scare you, he is the best professor for this course-- he makes what you're learning enjoyable.

Gene Dorsa is one of my favorite teachers! Gives good lectures. he's very funny. You have to study, attend, and stay on top of things in order to pass. Hard class but very fun.

STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! It won't be an easy A, but Dorsa is definitely one of the best professors at EVC. He genuinely cares for his students and makes an effort to know them. There are quizzes every single week, but he lets you know what to expect. Take him if you can! You won't regret it.

Only used textbook a few times not really necessary

hes a really great teacher and goes over everything that is need for midterms and quizzes so you have to take good notes. he gives chances for extra bonuses on midterms. his quizzes are oral but easy if you study the material. you only have a couple of homework assignments that are in the book and a research paper due at the end of the semester.

Dorsa is an awesome professor & cares very much if you pass or not. Everything written on the board is on the tests and quizzes so take notes during lecture. He has quizzes every week in lab but if you go to every lecture and study they arent hard at all. If you miss even one lecture you can easily fall behind but he helps you catch up if you ask

Mr. Dorsa is such a wonderful biology teacher! I learned so much from his lecture and he is so helpful. At the end of each lectures he will email you with updates and he tells you want you need to study for! He is a wonderful teacher and I would recommend him to whoever is taking Biology!

He is seriously the best bio teacher ever! He is very kind, funny, and helpful. If you study and do the little bit of hw he gives you will be fine. He will tell you what will be in the quizzes and the test during lecture and will send quiz tips through the email. He reallly cares for his students and you will definitely learn.

Dorsa is literally the best teacher at EVC. Ive never had a teacher that cared so much about their students and their education. Upon taking his class, I HATED biology and now I wouldn't say I love it but I learned so much and appreciate all the time he puts in in helping his students. Proferssor Dorsa is a great teacher, he is someone who was made to teach. Even though this class was tough and you DEFINITELY need to study it was still one of the best classes i've taken. Take him, you wont regret it!

Professor Dorsa is an amazing teacher, he is very caring of his students and he is very clear on how to pass the class, he is a very fun instructor. Very enjoyable class and make sure to study and put in effort to pass.

Pt 1: Mr. Dorsa was a phenomenal instructor! He is very caring and does his best to help his students pass the class. There are weekly quizzes which help you stay on top of the material so when the midterm/final comes along we are better prepared. He gives quiz tips+extra credit and he will give you the point if he sees youre on the right track

Pt 2: The lectures will keep you interested and busy the entire duration of the class. Many visuals are provided to help with memorizing and being prepared for tests. This class requires effort (worth it) but I would take this class any day rather than taking a class with any of the other traditional biology professors. Mr. D is very passionate.

Dorsa was one of my favorite professors at Evergreen, he really wants you to succeed in class. He supplies you with the necessary tools but you also have to work for it. I would take his class again if I could but I transferred already. If he reads this then hopefully he remembers the punnet squares and HOW UNNECESSARY THEY WERE (kidding Dorsa)

I came into this class knowing nothing, but came out with my brain full of knowledge on genetics, bones, skins, and etc... His love for teaching and engaging with students made the learning fun. If you put in the work to listen to the lectures and study, then itll be a breeze.

Best professor I've had but also the hardest class of my life. Its a lot of hard work but engaging and possible to push through, I did. Weekly quizzes keep you on top. pay attention to lectures! They're what you need to study for the quizzes/tests. Generous with extra credit! Responds to emails! I promise you won't regret taking his class. STUDY!

Dorsa is probably my fav teacher at EVC so far. He gives you all the info you need to be successful in his class, its up to you to remember it all. Hes very understanding and keep lectures interesting, and labs are fun and I was usually done an hour early. Hes a great teacher and I highly recommend. If you put in the work, youll pass with ease.

Hes super nice and you will have fun in his class. U only need the wrkbk but not the textbook. class is very quiz and test heavy. Theres a quiz every week, make sure you study Bc it is oral. He doesnt have a lot of multiple choice tests, but if you do all the extra credit he gives, and youll be fine. All the hw he gives out is on quizlet.

Dorsa is my favorite professor! You can tell how much he loves teaching and how much he cares for his students. Dorsa has made a huge impact on my decision to finalizing my switch to a science major. He is very responsive to emails, helps out and continuously checks up on you, and makes lectures fun. I highly recommend taking him!

Professor Dorsa is so amazing! I would take his class again. The subject is pretty hard, but he is very nice and easy going if you need more help. He really cares about his classes. Lab wasn't too hard, just study for tests as much as possible. Quizlet really helped me

I took Mr. Dorsa for Sp '20. Amazing professor. Lectures/assignments are focused around the material he wants you to learn. Gives you tips on what to study and is available by email (since covid-19). Class and labs are fun, get ready to partner up in lab, this is helpful tho! Put in the effort and you'll pass. SSA- you'll learn what this means ).

Really enjoyed taking BIO61 this semester. Kind of sad we went online though bc of covid. However homework was pretty easy but tests and quizzes were hard if you don't study! Always attend lecture and partner up during lab. It will help a lot, trust me. Also you only need the lab manual and not the textbook. (He provides lecture guides instead)

I really enjoyed this course! Although it was a lot of studying and you had to put in the work, Dorsa was always supportive and will try his best to help you get on the road to success. For the Spring 2020 sem, we had a 95% retention rate! (students who stayed). Dorsa will teach you the importance of double-highlighting and creating diagrams. :)

Dorsa is my favorite professor at EVC. His lectures are so engaging and fun! In order to get a good grade you must put in the work by studying and reviewing lectures. Everything that is on the tests he covers very well in class. The weekly quizzes really help you prepare for the exams. Also make friends in lab so you can help each other out.

I took his class in spring 2020 and he was seriously one of the best professors I've ever had. He doesn't just read off the textbooks like some professors and lectures well-explained. A lot of studying but he tells you exactly what's going to be on the tests/quizzes. Almost every student stayed in his class and passed with a good grade.

Dorsa was a great professor to have during these tough times. Although the lectures are filled with a lot of information, he does a great job explaining and answering as many questions as possible. As a person who does not do too well with science, I would definitely want him as my professor again because he made it much more understandable.

He's really a very caring professor. He's very passionate about teaching and will literally help with anything that you need. My advice to you is that you attend his class, keep up with the work given to you, and DO STUDY for his quizzes and exams. You'll thank me LOL :)

One of the best professors I've ever had. He makes the class fun, and he really cares about what he's teaching and the students' success. For our online class, we only had homework for the first couple weeks. Each week there is a quiz and a lab, make sure to study for the quizzes. If you're willing to put in a bit of work, this class is awesome.

BIO 12 @Gavilan/online. Professor has made Biology enjoyable and interesting. Quick responses to emails and encourages questions/conversations. Not an easy A (no multiple choice quest, quizzes done orally, tests through powerpoint-open ended). Highly recommend this Professor if you want to learn the subject.

BEST TEACHER EVER! He always provides resources and never leaves "you hanging" as he likes to say. You'll randomly hear him make a loud yelling like noise in the middle of lecture, due to being frustrated at technology. It is hilarious and I've rewound the recording since it makes me laugh so much. Great at teaching! Clear lectures!

I'm finishing my semester of Bio 12 @ Gavilan with Dorsa annnnddd 10/10 recommend you take his course! The quizzes each week are oral through zoom, 3 bigger exams that are done thru a timed powerpoint and the labs aren't difficult at all ***as long*** as you do the reading and work you should be fine.

Simple and easy class as long as you keep up with the work. There are many assignments to do a week but they are helpful on preparing you for the tests and quizzes. Lectures are easy to understand.

Mr.Dorsa is an amazing teacher I have enjoyed his class so much he is so helpful if needed and he is also very fast at responding to your emails. His lectures are always fun as he makes them always interesting

You MUST view his lectures, it's essential. They are long but he throws some comedic relief in there which makes it more tolerable. His lecture guides are also very useful, and he does help with labs as long as he sees people are truly understanding it and providing answers to him. His quizzes and tests are done in lecture.

Online BIO 12 Human Biology course at Gavilan. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Stay with his lecture guide and lab. Attend every class and participate. He is an awesome professor! Such an amazing professor! Provides everything you need to do well on tests and will even tell you what questions will be on it. His lectures are long but never too boring because of his funny personality and explains everything well. He's always willing to answer any questions and is easily accessible outside of class.

Took Mr. D's Bio 12 course Online at Gavilan College over the summer. It was a tough course only because everything was squeezed into a short semester. He basically gives all the info you need during labs and lecture videos. He is quick at responding to questions and will work with you if you communicate. Very good instructor!
