Find another math100 teacher. All this guy will do is confuse the crap out of you, and make you spend time forgetting what he told you, and trying to find out what you should actually be doing. stay away.
Pretty easy, and overall simple. His teaching style is clear enough to be followed.
Very nice guy! Really wants to help, and does whatever he can to help. Online homework and a quiz once a week on the homework. Go to class because he takes attendance.
Super Awesome teacher! I highly recommend taking him! He is very funny and charming. His quizzes and tests are fair and they will only test you on what you have already seen during class.
Quizzes are weekly and are very straightforward. Tests are not that bad if you do the problems listed online with the book. Easy A, if you put in the work! Definitely would recommend taking this instructor, great guy!
I really didn't enjoy this class at all. The tests weren't too hard if you study from the quizzes and the homework, but I hated his teaching style and he is sort of confusing. I had to teach myself a lot of the material.
I loved him! I'm terrible at math and I have an A in the class. Only homework once a week with easy quizzes and he drops the 2 lowest. Three tests and they're all just quiz and homework questions. He takes random attendance, but he explains everything clearly and he's a really nice guy.
Gene is a really nice guy and wants you to succeed, but I hated his teaching style. It might work for some people, but all it did was confuse me. On the upside, if you understand the material or get a tutor to help you, tests are fair and an A is attainable. Find a different prof if possible though. Not worth the confusion for a core class.
Professor Law was one of my favorites this semester. He actually made Stats interesting and super easy. His lectures are kinda boring but he throws in some group work every once in a while. There's two tests, a couple quizzes and homework due every other week but it's not too bad. Definitely take Prof Law!
Gene Law is quite possibly the nicest man on Earth. Expected this class to be monotonous and awful, but he always made lessons humorous and engaging. He was extremely helpful, joked around, and memorized everyone's names by the 2nd week. Definitely invested in his students. I almost wish I was a math major so I could take more of his courses.
Probably the best math professor I have ever had! He is very clear during lectures and makes sure that everyone understands before continuing. There are small group activities that aid you in your understanding of the material. Tests are not a surprise, all material was covered in class. He even offers help sessions before tests. There is hw!
Mr. Law is a really great guy, but he moves way too fast. I found it impossible to grasp the concepts he was trying to teach on his five second slides. I found his office hours to be minimally beneficial. I'm terrible at math and his class proved to be incredibly challenging for me. I had to drop it. I do not recommend him if you're slow with math.
Great guy, very clear on teachings. Class pace is very quick, but he is very willing to help and answer questions. Only aspect I don't like is that he makes no attempts in learning students' names or getting to know students.
One of the best math professors ever. He is really clear though he goes fast trough the topics. He really willing to help you in his office. He only gives homework once a week. Tests cover easy things that are in homework. Before tests he gives 25 minutes to answers questions if you need help at the last moment. I grasped almost all. English is my
Gene is my by far my favorite professor at Loyola so far. This man is the epitome of what all math teachers should be like. I liked him & his teaching style so much Im taking him again next semester for 131. There is weekly homework but you get more than enough time (a week) to get it done. The tests are as fair as it gets & he is beyond helpful.
I'm taking him for UCWR and i absolutely love his class. He's so helpful and his lectures are so interesting. He's a harsh grader but it's worth it because he makes you a better writer. Be ready to get your writing criticized a lot but also for some really fun lectures and topics.
College level math classes can be hard to teach, but Prof. Law really knows what he's doing. I felt like I really understood even the more difficult concepts because of the way he teaches you to approach any kind of problem. Very reasonable in test/quiz difficulty and grading. Don't plan on doing well if you don't go to class though.
Law is a great calc professor. He explains problems and how to solve them extremely well and always takes his time helping students understand the material. Four tests including the final with a quiz two weeks after each test. He drops the lowest quiz grade. Homework due every friday unless there's a test that week.
Law is a great professor, his lectures are great and his exams are fair. Would highly recommend.
Smart guy and not a bad professor. If you have never taken Calc before, this class is not going to be easy.
Professor Law is great, he has a lot of knowledge in math. He has spent a lot of time teaching math in different parts of the world so he tries to find the best possible way to teach each subject. I was afraid to take Calc but he made it very easy, I'll certainly take Calc 2 with him. His difficulty level is a little more then average.
The class was straight forward and concepts were easy to grasp after he finished a section. I took him during the summer session and I really enjoyed the class. He has a good sense of humor and really cares about his student's success.
Gene Law is a great teacher and is very reasonable with his tests and quizzes and there is nothing unexpected. He cares for his students and really wants them to do well, so much that he set up his own tutoring program. There is a good amount of homework, but it's online and there's unlimited attempts. He's also a very funny dude. Would recommend
I hate math, always have, and have always been bad at it, but Professor Law actually had me enjoy it and work for my grade! He is very caring about students learning and doing well in the class, gives good feedback on exams/quizzes/hw & is easy to access outside of class! Hate math, but if I had him as my teacher again, I would take another class.
Professor Law is amazing. He truly wants you to succeed and is available outside class whenever you need him. He reviews quizzes, tests, and any homework problems you didn't understand before he hands out the weekly quiz. You won't regret taking him.
He is truly an amazing professor. He made understanding the math so easy! He is very organized and explains everything in a way that anyone can understand. He breaks it down step by step. His exams are exactly what you do in class and for homework. I wish I could take every math class with him as my professor. The best at Loyola hands down.
Dr. Gene Law is simply an amazing professsor. He makes the class martial easy to understand and does not assume you already know something. He makes sure you understand the concepts and not just memorize formulas. His exams are exactly like the quizzes which are based off the homework. Easy class if you pay attention and do the homework.
I am a PLSC major, so I dont do math... lol He is a really good prof! Really explains things well! Very glad to have taken him!
He really helps students understand and always answering questions. He really gets that non math majors are taking his class. You defiantly need the textbook and sometimes the homework can be long, but it helps to teach the material. All the problems are just like the exams.
I normally hate math, but Prof. Law made it really easy to understand! The class is lecture heavy, (unless you want to teach yourself) but he gives a lot of examples and a chance for you to work through them in groups. There were 3 main tests and homework quizzes every week - drops 2 lowest quiz grades
I loved professor Law! His lectures are concise and comprehensive. His exams are fair, he's not trying to trick you. He bumps up your grade for good attendance. Also his TA held review sessions before each exam which was super helpful.
I took Stats in high school and did my work, but got an A every semester. The way Professor Law teaches the course makes material I already learned even more complicated and the web assigns do not correlate with the tests. This class is not easy and you definitely have to put in the time and effort to end with an average grade.
Professor Law is simply amazing! If you do the homework and the quizzes you should be able to do well on his tests. He is also always available when you have questions. Take him, he's probably the best math teacher I have ever had!
Love how he lectures the material at the beginning but the other half of class we work in groups for the problems! He explains each problems clearly and answers questions before a quiz!
He teaches in a way that makes the subject more understandable, even for someone who has no knowledge of the subject. He does have a quiz every week but that way, you know your material and are basically prepared for the final. Would highly recommend him.
Get ready for WebAssign. The homework is extensive and difficult, but the tests and quizzes are much easier and more like problems from class
Overall, good professor. Homework and quiz every week, test after about every 3 chapters. Quizzes and tests are similar to homework questions. Takes attendance every week. Sometimes not the best at explaining things, but gives lots of examples to help. Goes through the material quickly.
This professor was highly recommended by Math 131 students. We've just ocmpleted the first exam and I can honestly say, after devoting 20+ hours to study for the exam, after going over EVERY homework problem and the handout he gave, his exam was NOTHING like the homework or handout or his in class examples. NOT SURE WHAT changed but hes crazy hard!
Unless you were AP calc in high school and remember it well, this class is designed for you to fail. Prof. Law won't go out of his way to help you unless you already have a pretty good grasp of the content and there is absolutely no time devoted to mastering integrals before moving on to the next subject. Math tutoring resources are very limited
He's a great professor especially if you have not taken a calculus class before. Exams are like hw and quizzes. Lots of quizzes, but 2 are dropped and they are easy points. If you pay attention in class and study/review you'll be fine. Lectures can be a little boring for people that have taken calc before, but an easy A if effort is put in
FANTASTIC TAKE HIM! He makes everything really easy to understand even if you have no previous knowledge of calc. He has quizzes every week but drops 2. Web assign and its hard but the exams are never as difficult. Gives extra credit for good attendance. Has available office hours and is always available to answer questions. honestly amazing.
Three tests and quizzes every Thursday. He drops the lowest two quizzes. Hw is through webassign and an 80% counts as 100% for hw. His tests literally have the exact types of problems that are on the quizzes and in the hw. If you know how to do hw & quiz questions the tests are NOT difficult. His lectures consists of examples that are from hw.
For calculus 2 this teacher gives insanely complex quizzes. Most of your grade relies on exams, which he purposely makes very difficult and unintelligible. His lectures are monotone. His office hours make you feel more like a burden to him more than a student looking for help. No curve, makes you do calc 3 in a calc 2 class.
I've never been good at math, but Gene made it a good grade so attainable. He is clear when he lectures and is great during his office hours. If math scares you, take him! I'm so glad I did.
Prof Law is definitely one of the best professors I have had for math. Hes straight too the point and very clear and detailed in his explanations. His class is easy as long as you do the homework and take good notes, I only used the textbook when I was unsure about a concept, which wasnt often. Definitely take him if you have the option to!
Would not recommend this class to anyone who struggles with math. I would try going to his office hours for help and he was always sooo condescending and would get mad when you didn't understand something.
Professor Law made calculus doable for me when I was not strong in math whatsoever. The work for the class can get a bit tedious at times (weekly WebAssign problems and quizzes), but if you complete and understand the WebAssign his quizzes are a breeze. For his exams, understand the quizzes (you keep) and you'll be fine.
This class was mainly group work which made it difficult to do as well as I would've wanted. He gives weekly quizzes and theres 1 homework assignment due each week. Sometimes his answers to questions are unclear and seem to make things more difficult. Attending the SI sessions 1-2 times per week helped a lot though.
An overall nice guy. Spends first half of class lecturing and the last half splitting people up into groups to work on problems. Quizzes or tests every Wednesday, homework is also due that day. Do the work and show up and you won't be surprised about your grade.
I dont like math however professor Law was a great teacher! He goes a little fast but if you go to his office hours he helps a lot!! I would definitely recommend him if you are not strong at math. He was the first math teacher I had that I actually enjoyed! Take him!!!
Professor Law is a pretty good professor that grades pretty lenient. He does have a quiz every week with 5 exams, so you have to go to class!
Best stat professor. Clearly introduces topics no matter how confusing they are. Gives tons of examples and group work during lecture to make sure you understand the material. Exams are easy as long as you go over the webassign the night before. The only thing I don't like are quizzes every Thursday.
I once went to his office hours with a problem I had been struggling with. His response to me was I have discussion hours all day so after repeating myself on some of the same problems over and over it gets pretty exhausting for me. Maybe you can get help from some of the students next to you. I think that sums him up as a person/teacher
Super nice guy! The class isn't very hard itself but he does a good job of teaching the material. Quiz every thursday, but they are based on what we do in class that previous tuesday so they aren't very hard. 3 exams that reflect all notes and quizzes and a final. As long as you show up and pay attention you will do well in the class.
if you want to pass math or even get a C literally dont take this class, he flys through lectures with no time to answer questions. terrible teacher. i would not tie my shoes when walking to his class so i had a better chance of tripping down some stairs.
He barely lectures for even 10-15 mins and then makes us do group work for the rest of class. Since, his lectures are really short it is difficult to understand the concepts. Also, there is quizzes and H.W every Thursday. The in-class problems don't help when studying for exams. I had to teach myself most of the time as his teaching is unclear.
Gene law was one my top math profs, he explains the sections for around 15 minutes and solves 2-3 examples and then puts us into groups and gives us a worksheet to solve together then goes over them. i personally found his way really helpful. his exam can be long but he gives partial credit.
Honestly, a great dude and a great teacher. I did take stats before this, so I had a headstart, but he makes the material very understandable. Pay attention to lectures and do the homework (leave time for it!) and you'll be good! Lots of group work, which is nice. Just make sure someone in your group understands. He really wants kids to get it.
Overall a really good professor! Sometimes there were problems on the homework that we didn't talk about in class, but absolutely 100% of quizzes and tests are based on lectures. He's always open to answering questions. 50% of class time is lecture and 50% is group work, which is really nice!
Professor does not prefer to assist students in office hours and encourages SI sessions. Has quizzes every week with 3 exams plus the final. Assigns a lot of homework and with the switch to online classes, he makes exams/quizzes harder than expected. Overall would not take if you don't have good preknowledge of precalc.
Law spends 10 minutes on a vague lecture and leaves the rest to group time. If you didn't understand the material, he will tell you to avoid office hours and go to SI. he assigns the most homework out of any math class I've taken. transitioning to zoom, he made exams and quizzes extra hard despite being even less available.
Took professor law during the summer and he spends such little time giving a lecture then puts all of us into a group work thats all. His lectures are completely different than the test and quizzes he gives out. Spends time on raiser example and doesnt work through any hard problems. I wouldnt recommend taking him if the class is online
I took this class online over the summer. Professor Law did not spent enough time explaining his lectures and just made us do group work. He assigned us homework from Wileyplus and most of the material we had to do for hw was much more difficult than the class and he did not teach us it. I do not recommend taking him especially online.
Professor Law is an overall good professor and knows how to teach complex topics but do not take if you're not a math buff.
Prof Law bases his class mainly on group work. Given the pandemic, and the fact that I had him for class via zoom, he would review notes for 10-15 minutes, then put his students in small groups to work on examples. We all had a very difficult time, as his notes were very vague. His class was tough, I either taught it to myself or in office hours.
I am really enjoying his class so far. He gives us a lesson a the beginning then sends us into break out rooms to do work with other students. It is one of the only classes I have made friends in because he gives us this time to work on things, but also to talk with our group and get to know them. He also jumps in to answer any questions we have.
A lot of people complain about his short lectures and group work but I liked it. The lectures were clear and concise, and the group work was all about reinforcing concepts through practice. He explains things in several ways for understanding, and offers a lot of office hours, plus SI sessions. Easy to pass if you work for it.
I went into this class knowing nothing about pre-calc so I wasn't prepared for it in the slightest. The lectures are short but I didn't feel like he went into enough detail to help me understand. I put in an anonymous complaint about how he runs class hoping he'd adjust even just a little bit but he didn't. 100% would not take again.
Mr. Law is a dope professor, you have a quiz every week and there are 4 exams, but the frequent tests/quizzes will keep you attentive and up to date. Homework isnt quite needed (5% of your grade) but through Wiley thats an easy 5% and its easy to review before quizzes. If youre taking 131, try and get Mr. Law as your professor.
He teaches conceptually, meaning he'll give you 1 or 2 examples of notes for a whole section and expects you to figure the rest out yourself. Which is a lot, there's 50-60 hw questions a week and a quiz each week. Also, will never give you a direct answer when you ask him for help. If you are a math wiz you'll be okay but most will struggle w/ him.
I would never recommend this professor. Most homework I have ever had in a math class, when he really only lectured for 20 minutes and the rest of the class was group work. The homework never reflected what we "learned" in class. Even some stuff on the exam we never really went over. Quizzes every week even if he barely taught that week.
I took AP calc last year which has helped a ton, so i 1000% recommended taking him if you took AP calc. He gives a quiz every Wednesday, homework is easy and due every Wednesday and hell give you full credit if you have an 80% or above. Also, if its close, and you show up to class a lot, hell round you to the next letter grade
I wouldn't recommend this professor to anyone. He is a tough grader and is very specific, so if you make dumb, little mistakes I would not take him. He goes over each new topic for like 10 minutes and then expects you to do a worksheet with your group and it barely relates to what he did on the board. The homework is nothing like quizzes and tests.
He is a nice person. He gives weekly quizzes. The content in these quizzes is what is confusing as you don't have a clear idea what they are on and the same problem with the tests. The homework is WIleyPlus but it isn't worth a lot. Decent class, but there are better professors out there.
Weekly quizzes and when you don't have quizzes its one of three exams or the final. He never skips a day and uses every bit of class. Between his lectures, the homework, and his thoroughness in teaching it makes calculus manageable. Not an easy subject, but he does a really nice job.
One of the best math professors I have ever taken.
Take him if you can!! He's very good at explaining concepts thoroughly. Lots of group work and lots of working out problems with the class.
Here is the deal with Pr. Law. He knows his stuff, that much can not be challenged. Be warned though, he does not hold your hand. He introduces a topic, explains what it means mathematically, and runs through a practice problem. Then, he makes you work through multiple in small groups. If your group isn't mathematically inclined it can be tough.
Prof Law is a very good professor, the quizzes and tests are exactly what he teaches in class. You have to pay attention in class, his lectures are to the point and he never wastes time. The lectures last about 20 minutes. It is an easy A!
Professor Law is a great teacher. The only thing I had a problem with was that we did group work every single class and I tend to work alone. There are weekly quizzes or if there's not a quiz it's the exam. The exam are exactly like what you learn in class and they're fairly easy.
This class was slightly difficult as I had no background in calculus and spent a lot of time understanding the content. If you put in the time it is definitely doable. It is helpful to not only go to si but the tutoring center to get wiley done. Prof law is very accessible outside of class. There are quizzes every week, 3 exams, hw and a final.
Doesn't answer questions well, skips over some of the steps, and assumes you know all the small things he's automatically doing without showing. If you've taken a calc class before you should be fine, but if not, I would not take a class with Prof. Law. Also uses WileyPlus, but openly dislikes Wiley, which is irritating for homework grades.
Prof. Law is a good professor for MATH 131. Definitely knows what he's talking about & explains most things well, but doesn't emphasize/focus on the more difficult parts of class enough. WILEY homework and takes ~2 hours a problem set. SI sessions are very helpful, so got them. Prof. Law is pretty accessible outside of class too. Good prof for 131!
Prof. Law is very knowledgeable and is a kind person, but I did not enjoy his class at all. His teaching style confused me and he breezed through the topics. We worked in groups every day for most of the class and that was a mess. The problems we worked on barely related to what we discussed and I had to teach myself at home. I don't recommend him.
not a good teacher, confusing, so much homework which didn't connect to his lectures. It was a bad class I do not recommend.
Don't take him if you haven't taken Calc before. His lectures consist on basically a 15 minute lecture, and the rest of the time group work. He goes way too fast and assumes that everyone knows the little details. He is a nice person, but I would not recommend him for Calculus.
I could not keep up. I suck at math, but the homework was so overwhelming for a core class. Group work every day and quiz every Wednesday. Avoid at all costs if math is not your strong suit.
Professor Law doesn't have many online materials so attending lectures is VERY important! He gives a lot of group discussion problems, so how much you contribute will reflect. He doesn't like to have long-winded lectures. The grade is based on three tests, the final and the weekly quizzes but he drops the lowest two.
Class is about 20min of lecture, rest is groupwork. There are weekly quizzes which I actually like bc I would know how well I know the material. He drops 2 lowest quizzes. 3 exams and a cumulative final. He lectures kinda fast so be sure to utilize WebAssign to learn/teach yourself. There is a lot to learn/keep up with. DONT SKIP CLASS and do ur HW
If you typically perform well in Math courses, this class is probably good for you. Those whose strong suit is not math, I would not recommend this class to. He teaches as though everyone has a strong foundational understanding in Math and does not explain in depth the steps he takes in solving the problems. Needed to hire a tutor.
If you know calc then you'll probably be fine with him. He expects that you know some calc and does go fast. Quiz every week, homework is harder than what you learn in class and a bunch of group work. Exams are also always scheduled after long breaks which is super inconvenient.
The absolute worst prof. Ive had at luc, super inconsiderate. His lectures move very fast and the hw is much more complicated than what your tested on. Quizzes are individual unlike every other math prof. I've had and he doesnt allow makeups. Exams are scheduled right after spring and Easter break avoid at all costs if you haven't taken calc before
Absolutely love this professor. Lectures are helpful and engaging. Group work is super helpful is well. there is a very small quiz every Thursday meaning attendance on Thursdays is very very important but as long as you pay attention to lectures and try on the homework i promise you will succeed
The class structure is very organized and predictable. Every week there's a lecture, group work, wiley assignments, and a short quiz. If you stay on top of it and go to class you'll be prepared for the tests. You always know what to expect and he teaches in a way that makes sense. He's nice and funny. Just don't skip class and you'll be fine.
I loved this class. It is all math that you could actually use in real life. There are weekly quizzes that can't be made up, but he drops the 2 lowest, so it is okay. All exams and quizzes are similar to the homework, but it is not mandatory. Was probably one of the easiest classes I have taken. Take Prof. Law if you can!
Prof Law lectures most of class and allows some time at the end for group work. The class isn't terribly challenging but some concepts are confusing. Overall, he's a good teacher but sometimes can't stop lecturing and can speed through his lectures. Still, a good choice for a math credit. Weekly quizzes which aren't bad, 3 midterms, and final.
Professor Law is a kind person. He is prone to help if you seek him out, however, his class is not easy. I am not a mathematically inclined person, so the weekly homework assignments took me anywhere from 2-5 hours. To add on, 80% of the class is group work, so be aware of this. Weekly quizzes don't really help either. Not an easy starting class...
Gene was a very fast-paced professor. He gave weekly quizzes which weren't too hard. The grade is based mostly off of 3 midterm exams and the final. Gene cares about student success, but the class was not easy, coming from someone who took calculus in highschool.
Lectures consist of him doing examples on the board and then group work. Weekly quizzes that are at most 4 questions. HW due every Wednesday. The HW is harder than the examples in class. The exams have easier problems than the HW.
Professor Law is a nice person but if you are a person who has never taken any form of calculus or just aren't pretty good at math, don't take him. His lectures go SO fast he brushes over difficult concepts and assumes everyone knows what's going on. I also really dislike how his class is 10 minutes lecture and the rest is just group work.
Fantastic professor, the first math professor to ever make math easy for me. He does a great job explaining topics in an easy way and emphasizes only what is key to understand. Usually is generous with partial credit on quizzes and exam. Very kind and understanding guy, would recommend.
To be honest, if you show up to class and actually do the work/group work, you will pass and be fine. I'm not a super big fan of his teaching style, mostly because many of us here are taking math we took in highschool, and i learned it differently before. His office hours are a great resource, but generally - dont skip class, weekly quizzes.
mid. don't get me wrong, he is nice, but not a great professor. homework does not reflect lecture/group work much. exams are fairly straightforward but he has thrown a few curveballs on them. homework for every section but its only worth 5% of your final grade. exams make up most of your grade.
His lectures move pretty quick but he's good at explaining things/breaking down big concepts so it wasn't too difficult to keep up, and he's always willing to stop and answer questions. Attendance wasn't technically mandatory but don't skip or you will fall behind quickly. Homework was usually much harder than the exams which made them feel easy.
he's a good professor who actually wants you to succeed. i had only taken pre-calc before and still did good. if you go to classes and pay attention, you'll probably end up with a good grade. homework isn't really the same as tests but they're good practice and only count for 5%.
Professor Law wants his students to do well, but that doesn't mean the class is easy. He teaches at a very fast pace and does not review concepts until the day of the weekly quizzes or if you go to his office hours. The class is do-able if you're not mathematically talented, but I found myself struggling to keep up at parts even with extra help.
You have to keep up with the class.
I don't know why he's rated so low but Professor Law is a great teacher and made me love math! His lectures are great so if you go to class you'll do well. He's super nice and grades fairly. He makes everything seem easy and is super encouraging.
Loved him! Only thing I did not enjoy was all of the group work, but that is just a personal preference. My biggest advice is to go to his office hours, he is rather unwilling to help you while in class, and I feel I got the best connection with him by going to office hours! Also very fast-paced, helpful to take MATH 118 beforehand.
The class style isn't going to be for everyone (lots of group work), but I found Prof. Law to be incredibly smart and caring. If you are struggling GO TO OFFICE HOURS, I feel like a lot of the lower ratings of Prof. Law are for people who didn't understand the content but didn't reach out for help. I'm not a "math person",but one of my fav profs!
Overall Law was a good prof. He wants you to succeed and encourages you to go to his office hours if you need help. Lots of group work which may not be the greatest for some. Going into the class I had no background in stats, but I was able to follow along his lectures. Make sure to pay attention and take good notes and you'll succeed.
HIGHLEY REC! As a non-math person, a good math teacher is rare but Professor Law falls into that category. His classes are a mix of lecturing and group work that makes the class go by fast and helps you understand the new content. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't show up you won't likely do well.
So amaze. He is great at teaching the material and making sure its understandable for everyone. Half the class is lecture and the other half is group-work where he answers all your questions. Quizzes every other class but they are not too difficult if you pay attention. He grades all quizzes/exams very quickly and hands them back by next class.
Awesome professor! There is a quiz every week, and because of this, I knew the content very well. It helped very well the way his class was structured.
Great class. Office hours arent helpful but its pretty easy, nice guy, gives you everything you need, easy to pass, relatively easy to get an A
Law is a really great professor, his lecture slides are very simple and he posts the slides to Sakai, he also knows how to teach stats as he's been doing it for years now, he's also a very kind guy, there are weekly quizzes but they are very straightforward and helpful in letting you see if you understand what is going to be on the tests
Amazing professor. Makes expectations very clear and doesn't hide what he wants you to learn. What is on the slides in class and in the homework is exactly what is on the test. Come to class and you will pass. One quiz every week however it is basically exactly what you learned from the class before.
Took this over the summer and truly made every topic understandable, he would take questions before quizzes and tests which helped. Homework and groupwork were quite similar to that of tests and quizzes. He was great!
I had a concussion and he wouldn't let me reschedule my exam. It's an easy class but he isn't very understanding or accommodating and constantly tries to catch you in a lie, even when you have a valid excuse.
I took him over the summer! He was a great professor, he likes what he does and made us work on group worksheets and the homework really well reflected quizzes and exams. Very approachable and allowed us to have a quick review of our questions before exams which really helped me calm my nerves and feel prepared! Review quizlets of vocab to help!!
The class consists of working in a group to work on worksheets on the content quickly covered in class. There are weekly quizzes on Wednesdays that cover the material from Friday and Monday. The exams are very similar to the quizzes so there arent any surprises. He holds office hours that are helpful but isnt very helpful on questions during exam.
Prof Law was not my fav prof because he spent a lot of the time lecturing and giving very easy example problems and then giving insanely hard homework problems that will make you cry. Not a lot of practice other than group work problems that he doesn't post the answer key to. He isn't horrible but he isn't great if you can get a diff prof do.
Prof. Law is very nice, a little odd but nice. His lectures go by kind of quickly, but during office hours I found he was very patient and helpful. Easy workload, and lenient grading, he doesn't want you to fail, and understands most people in his class are there for a core req, he drops the 2 lowest test scores too. Nice guy and good professor!
Professor Law makes math enjoyable with his engaging lectures and fair grading. Attending class is key, and using resources like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can really help. Overall, a great professor who wants students to succeed.
He is actually a great math teacher and easy to follow his lectures I would highly recommend. One thing is that he goes fast but that's just because there's a lot of content. If you've taken calculus before it'll be a breeze. He does quizzes and HW every Wednesday but they're not tricky at all. Also he likes to do groupwork in class.
This is my second time taking calc (took AP in high school) but for me he was the perfect professor to refresh my skills that I had honed in high school. His lectures go by quick but if you have prior experience with calculus he goes over the perfect amount to jog your memory. Also his exam questions don't stray far from problems he does in class.
Prof. Law was a great professor that was kind and truly wanted everyone in the class to succeed. There were weekly homework that could sometimes be difficult, but nothing snapchat AI couldn't solve. Weekly quizzes, 1 of which is dropped, and 3 exams and a final. not to difficult of a course as long as you pay attention in class you will be fine.
Class is impossible. You learn nothing important and he gives quizzes or exams EVERY week. Also he's very awkward and weird. Nice guy tho
Lectures and examples are very fast. I took AP Calculus and have learned a lot of concepts before so the speed is not too bad, but might be difficult if you have never learned it before. However, there is time in class and office hours to ask questions so it is not unmanageable. Quizzes/exams + 2-3 homework assignments weekly but not super hard.
i found this class to be very easy, but i did come into it with prior math experience. he gives weekly quizzes and 3 exams which are easy as long as you study. he takes attendance but i don't think there's any penalty for not showing up. the required textbook website is $100 tho so keep that in mind. homework is on it so you can't get away w a pdf
He's a nice guy who cares, easy enough for a math class, one quiz per week, one homework assignment per week, 2 lowest quizzes dropped, 3 exams plus the final, material is easy to understand if you go to class!!
Really nice guy. Weekly quizzes, 3 exams, and a final. He makes his expectations clear, and gives formulas on exams. This class is a lot of work, but if you keep up with homework and readings, you'll do well. Textbook is $100, and homework is attached, so you have to buy it.
Very easy class. Participation matters via answering questions or actively working in groups. You work in groups almost daily. There are quizzes every Wednesday, very easy always like 2-3 quick questions. Very easy, professor is great at explaining and offers plenty of in and outside of class help.
He is a very sweet man but does not teach you anything. The whole class is just group work on what he "taught" the first 15 minutes of class. Weekly quizzes and 3 exams taken in class. Final which is half the material you learn. Homework given weekly online to do before quiz day. Basically, you teach yourself, I would not recommend but good luck!
