I don't think she even knows how to speak english. BORING!!!

This is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is intelligent, caring, and challenging. I had to go home after some classes and look up the words she was speaking. The easiest teachers do not make the best teachers. Be prepared to pay attention.

I have this class right now and she is so closed-minded it is unreal!! If she doesn't agree with your writing style, even when it is correct, she will downgrade! If you like to be a brown noser, this class is for you...
she makes stuff up that does not pertain to the book. HUGE EXAMPLE: Hamlet. Shakespeare is not religous and he did not draw upon the Bible. Thats a lie.
Man she hated me when i tried to joke with her and because she hates me she totally down grades my work! She really isnt that good of a teacher.. if you can i'd say stay away
Attendance taken daily, classes usually get out early. Grading was mainly based on four essays that didn't take a lot of time. A pretty easy A or B.
Very close minded. write your papers on her perceptions of the stories-yours will be wrong. also-girls: take the class, guys: try not to
this teacher is the worse english teacher ever. her essays are hard because she wants so much out of it even when you answer the questions correctly. also, this teacher repeats herself over and over everyday and is very boring.
the teacher kept forgetting what we did in previous classes, she never checked her email, she graded based on her opinion, she made errors when correcting our papers, AND she teaches the same syllabus for her 101 and 090 and i believe 102 classes.
Geneva Moore is CRAZY! She has no memory at all, asks what you were learning in her class to get her back on the right page. Her essays are usless and she grades them off of her opnion, not what the outline for the paper was. Avoid her like you would avoid the police!
I swear to god if this woman wasn't high every day she has no excuse. She thinks up the most ridiculous interpretations of a literature and thinks its the only right one. Do good early, I got a b on my first paper and everything after that got a b, no matter how good or crappy, all my firends got the same grade on everything too. Woman is whack.
She is almost always late to class and is very biased. She grades papers differently than what she says she will, by her opinion only. She never could remember what we were doing in class and often got the days mixed up. When we watched movies, she couldn't figure out how to use the T.V., even after she was taught how to turn it to channel 03.
I didn't think she was so bad, but she is a big time feminist, so all u other guys out there should avoid her like the plague. Also, all well written papers will get anywhere from a B to a C, but a badly written paper, that she likes will get an A. If u can read her mind, which is an impossible task, u will probably get an A.
good teacher. Hard and can be a feminist...but I truly enjoyed going to class.
I enjoy Geneva's class very much. I took her for English 101 and made sure I got into her class for 102. She does assign a lot of papers. (4 or 5 a semester) But she goes over the information and is very helpful if you need it.
this teacher is feminist and liberal. make sure you write your papers to what you think she wants in them. do not take the oposite side as her as you will get a D on your final research paper. Dont take this class if you are a guy. also be prepared to be spoon fed some liberal bull(you know what i meant)
On the first day of class we were all terrified but she really grew on us and most of her 101 class took her for 102. Very fair and I feel much better prepared for college writing because of her.
Grades based on 'what she likes' rather than content- as long as you write verbatim what she says, you'll do okay. (the person who sat next to me did this) Otherwise, a useless, confused teacher who as a Women's Studies prof. doesn't know the difference btw gender and sex. Does not help students at all, and is inconsistent.
If you just do what she asks you in the paper assignments, you will be fine. I followed her instructions exactly and got As on all of my papers. You have a few vocabulary tests and watch a lot of videos. I didn't think it was a bad class at all.
She doesn't know what she is doing and if you don't write the papers the exact way she wants them you are screwed. I would not recomend her at all.
DON'T TAKE HER!! She has very UNFAIR grading. I was told I was a good writer and good at english when in high school and once I got to her class I got D's on my papers. She pronounces a lot of words wrong so you'll be confused with what she is trying to say. You read a lot of essays too. SHE IS ALSO VERY RUDE TO STUDENTS.
DON'T take her class!!! I learned nothing from her class at all. If you don't do the papers her way then you get low grades. Yes she is easy, but her class and the readings are pointless and she is late everyday. She doesn't accept late papers, even if you have health problems. DON'T take this class!!!
Although I hated her throughout the semester, I still got a decent grade from her. But, I had to write my essay EXACTLY the way SHE wanted. She's not terrible...but she definitely shouldn't be your first choice for an english professor.
Her class started with a horrific transphobic joke and went downhill from there. How she's still got a job is beyond me. Absolutely godawful, if you can avoid taking a class with her, do.
DON'T TAKE HER!!!!! she is a horrible teacher, she is so rude. She is very unfair in every way possible. She grades so unfairly, she is very close minded and only her opinion matters. She should be fired!!!
HORRIBLE TEACHER. THE END! she needs to read what people write about her so she can change otherwise she should not be a teacher. a teacher is someone who is kind and helpful and helps student succeed, she is none of these and should not teach
HORRID!!!! she is the worst teacher i have had at this university! extremely rude and unfair!!!! she is unorganized and doesn't care about her students! she talks down on you in a condescending way! i would avoid her if at all possible! i even am getting a decent grade in the class and still really don't like her!
Terrible teacher. Doesnt understand students questions and is never helpful in answering them, clueless! Very condescending, thinks she knows everything, treats class like 2nd graders, kicks you out if you forget your book, repeats herself day after day, grades unfairly. I would recommend you stay away from this teacher! She should be fired!
Not a good professor. Extremely hard grader. Discriminatory, unreasonable, scatterbrained, unable to answer student's questions... need I continue? I recommend taking anouther proessors course if at all possible. She isn't worth the hassle.
a LOVELY LADY, BUT A LIBERAL AND A FEMINIST. COMES TO CLASS LATE, BUT GIVES THE BEST LECTURES ON THE LITERATURE READ. HARD ESSAY GRADER, THO.
Dr. Geneva Moore is a smart but tough professor who gives lots of reading assignments, but goes over the literature very well in class, even providing students with page numbers of quotations that they can use in their essays. She is a very caring teacher.
Very good instructor. I knew exactly what she expected. Very intelligent. Will help you with any questions you have. I really enjoyed her classes. I took both 101 and 102 with her.
Dr. Moore's classes changed my life. What she gives to students is more than just textbook jargon. She gives us experience and her voice from experience and research. I would encourage anyone to take her.
Geneva Moore is one of the best professors that I have ever had. A leader in her field, she is brilliant and her work is top-notch. Her classes weave culture and history with literary study, making her discussion sections incredibly interesting and enlightening. She is also helpful with improving student writing. TAKE HER CLASSES!
Dr. Moore is an amazing professor. Any student that values their educational experiences should sign up for a class with her. The negative reviews must be by peers unwilling to put forth the effort needed to think analytically. I would take another class with her in a heartbeat!
she is so annoying!! She is such a poor teacher, hard grader...she is all over the place!!!
Professor Moore picks a lot of interesting books and picks hard topics for you to write on.I do like her class but she is a tad strange.
Moore is a pretty easy professor to get along with and she basically tells you what to write in your essay if you want a good grade. She is a little weird and repetative, but she is nice and listens to your opinions.
Geneva really knows her stuff but she is very uninteresting. She gives 4 papers and pretty much tells you exactly what to write so if you write what she tells you, you will get a good grade. if not, she will rip your paper to shreds. forget everything i learned about having my own writing style...
Professor Moore is an outstanding professor. If you want to receive the full educational value from college English, I would recommend taking her class. She is very helpful in explaining her essays and setting you up for success. I highly recommend her. She is by far the best English teacher I have ever had.
I remember her class a lot because a petite blonde returned to her old high school and confronted her old history teacher, as she related to Dr. Moore's Literature class. She told us that she asked her history teacher why he had not taught them "real" history because Dr. Moore teaches historical novels with a lot of history in them. Awesome prof!
Dr Moore is a wonderful teacher. Very informed. Presents material well. Good listener. Enthusiastic. Brings out the best in her students. Encourages participation. Has high expectations. Willing to work with students see them succeed. Passionate about learning, teaching, and giving students analytical reasoning skills. A MUST FOR ANY ENGLISH CLASS!
I am so glad that I never have used this web site to choose a teach for college. I have had Dr. Moore for at least 3 classes and think the world of the woman. I seriously dont know what all these people are talking about. Maybe they didnt study. Maybe it's personal issues with themselves. Rock on Dr. Moore.
Puts people down without trying to. Very one-sided opinions so don't bother arguing with her. Class is not hard but papers are graded pretty tough.
Professor Moore's American Minority Women Writers class was extraordinary. She picked great books to review and provided clear ideas and examples of said books. There were two midpapers answering questions that we had previously discussed in class. It is important to take notes but class was not too difficult. Would recommend her.
Very articulate and knowledgeable prof. She spends a lot of time going over assignments and giving instructions/resources to aid students in completing them. The only disclaimer that I would give is that some of the texts she uses can have graphic/disturbing historical facts. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and would take it again.
Dr. Moore is a very sincere woman who cares deeply about her students and the materials that she is teaching them. I'm a senior and an English major, and IMO, Dr. Moore is the best lecturer in the English Dept. I always looked forward to her class. As long as you do the reading and listen to her instructions, it is easy to do well in her class.
She is a very nice professor who loves what she teaches. The only problem is that the books that you read are very boring and old. Classes are extremely boring and you do not get a lot done in them.
She is a good teacher and I learned a lot aboug writing essays. She teaches only classic literature in this class. We read the works of Homer, Dante, and Shakespeare and some American authors. Make up your mind to study hard because she has very high expectations! Seriously.
She was an amazing professor. She was passionate and extremely educated about our class topic. I will definitely be taking more of her classes.
Geneva is one of the sweetest ladies I have had the pleasure of encountering. As a teacher though, not a fan. She doesn't hear well at all so when the class asks questions she rarely answers the question that was asked. on the positive side She lays out what she wants for your papers so if you do what she says you will get a decent grade.
She is a sweet lady. rather old though and hard of hearing so it is difficult to get questions answered. overall though she lays out exactly what she wants. do it and you will be fine.
She often calls people out in front of the class when she corrects your paper, which makes class somewhat awkward sometimes. She is a sweet lady, although she has a hard time hearing sometimes. She takes attendance and often her classes are boring, but they are not overly difficult to pass.
Geneva is a pretty sweet lady, but she is not a very good teacher. She's hard of hearing, so when you answer or ask a question, she completely ignores you. It's very frustrating. Her essays are pretty easy and she lets you rewrite one of them at the end of the semester. No final exam.
Such a sweet lady. If you show up and do your work (not a lot given) you will do fine. Each paper (4 total) are 20% of your grade. But they are easy to write about. Class is most of the time let out early. I loved her and recommend her.
Class got out early most of the time, and there weren't any tests; only papers. When she corrects your papers, she often calls you out in front of the class. It is easy to get a decent grade in her class if you do you work, (even if you always do it the night before like I did).
A fine person does not make a fine teacher. Her lectures are boring, as she tends to ramble on and on about seemingly redundant topics. She seems to use a lot of big words with seemingly little connection, which makes her expectations muddled and confusing.
She rambled and repeated herself. If you didn't write her comments word for word, you will not do well on the two papers she assigns, as her opinion is the only right opinion.
Dr. Moore is the best English professor I have ever had. I took her for 101 and enjoyed her class very much so I took her for 202 and both of her classes were a great experience. Dr. Moore is very passionate about teaching and her selection of books is great. She is extremely helpful and I would encourage anyone to take any of her classes.
I took Dr.Moore 'American Minority Women Writers 'class which brought a level of insight, experience and passion that completely captivated me. Generating my intellect and stimulation to dig deep into the psyches of the characters in all of the novels that were assigned. Excellent class and Excellent Professor.
I don't ever "rate" my professors, but it's only midterm and Prof. Moore is driving me nuts. She never answers anyone's questions and doesn't clarify what she wants in assignments. I would never recommend her classes to anyone.
I don't ever rate my professors, but she is terrible. No break or getting out early and she lectures the whole time, rarely asking if there are questions. Hard to pay attention. Hard to follow her and writes notes wherever she can find room on the board. Don't take her if at all possible.
I completely disagree with the former statements. Prof Moore is an extremely good teacher, very knowledgeable, and always asks for questions. Gives clear assignments, and provides handouts on how to answer those assignments. Anyone saying she doesn't for this class doesn't pay any attention. I highly recommend her as a Professor to take!
She does not make much sense and is very forgetful and rude. I wish I had a better professor
did not enjoy this class at all!
Basically spells out what she wants you to write about No exams. A few papers. 2 vocab quizzes. Very nice professor but she is hard of hearing. Easy grader and will correct your rough draft if you give it to her. Can only miss class 3 times. I liked her and got an A.
Whitewater is fortune to have Dr. Moore teaching. Dr. Moore is clear, passionate, organized and willing to proof-read papers. I absolutely recommend Dr. Moore.
INSPIRING. I even took her for a night class and I still loved it. I have taken her before and I will always regard her as the best professor I have ever had at UWW. Whole class is papers but she spells them out for you. It's all lecture but it's interesting and insightful. Nicest lady ever too. I wish I wasn't graduating so I could retake her.
Take notes on what she tells you to write about for your papers. She's not necessarily a picky grader, but if you stray too far from what she's looking for, she'll grade harshly. She is extremely knowledgable & loves showing it off so her class is more of a lecture format than a discussion.
Dr. Moore is very passionate about the literature she teaches in class and is very willing to help students understand the material. Dr. Moore also offers students opportunities to win writing awards from the English Department and the university for essays written in her class. I would highly recommend taking Dr. Moore as an instructor.
Dr. Moore is very passionate about the literature she teaches in class and is very willing to help students understand the material. I would highly recommend taking Dr. Moore as an instructor.
Professor Moore got a little unorganized in Literary Abolitionist Women, but there's a lot of material to cover and it all overlaps. Overall, she's a pretty easy going professor and I enjoyed being in her class. This was a 400 level class, so obviously the work load was higher.
She is well liked, but still a tough grader; however, her class is very interesting. I loved the history part of the books
I enjoyed her Eng 368 class! Her opinions were not shoved down anyone's throat, but were the appropriate interpretations one would gather from the assigned reading material. The two take home exams were a lot of work, but she gave us more than enough material to get a good grade. Getting a good grade is not hard if you're not an idiot.
I relish this opportunity to discuss Prof. Geneva Moore and her instructional style and competence. She is a very intelligent person and is ready to impart her knowledge to those students in her classes. In order to achieve the most success in those classes though, one must be receptive in class and involved in the discussions. She will always listen to well supported arguments that are contrary to what she has stated about the books under discussion. Prof. Moore will never belittle anyone nor will she make a student feel uncomfortable because of a difference in opinion. She will explain the interpretations of the novels to her fullest. I have had her for two classes and will utiize the knowledge learned from her in my career.
This class wasn't too bad. Prof Moore is hard of hearing but is a good instructor. You can miss class 3 times without punishment. Only 2 quizzes (easy) and a few papers but not a crazy amount of reading. I would recommend Dr. Moore to anyone.
Moore is very knowledgeable about her criteria. She gives very long lectures, be prepared to take notes. If you are not a note taker, do NOT take the class. I took notes every class and it helped immensely in my papers. The homework in class is READINGyou turn in 3 papers total(range from 6-12pgspaper). Worth it if you research and READ.
Professor is very professional and I would definitely take her class again! Students should be expected to come to class every day; she only allows up to 3 absenses before a lowering of your grade. She talks a lot-very lecture oriented; but, her letures can be interesting, and she's very passionate about certain topics. There are 4 papers total.
I don't recommend Dr. Moore. Her lectures for African American Lit were long and unorganized, and to get good grades, you are essentially expected to regurgitate everything she has told you in class, word-for-word. There is no real thought involved in the work. She even has you read papers she's written in class! Egotist to the max.
USE HER OFFICE HOURS. Went in before paper was due and she edited it right there for you like she was grading it. Bumped me up a letter grade each time. Very confusing regarding what she wants for her essays. Kind of scattered brained. If English isn't your strong suit I suggest taking someone else.
She expects us to read a 200 page book (not too bad) but also write not only one but two essays in the span of like two weeks.
This is the most awful professor I've ever had. It's literature, but if you even dare to suggest a meaning that she doesn't agree with, she'll flat out tell you that you're wrong. She's obviously very passionate about minority authors, especially women authors, but she goes so overboard with correcting any opinion that doesn't align with hers.
Dr. Moore is obviously very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter of the class. Her enthusiasm for the literature comes through in the way in which she addresses the class. I wish I could take another class with her. It was very enjoyable and educational. I loved the theme and will definitely read more by the authors studied.
She is the worst teacher in the world! Her papers she assigns has to be written how she wnats them to be and how she thinks of the book. You can't have your own opinions or voice them. To her you are wrong. And you have to buy a lot of english books.
She is a very tough grader that is often unclear of what is expected beforehand. Her grading system makes no sense, when you get papers back there are multiple grades on it such as A-/B+. She is very opinionated and if your ideas don't match her get ready for a bad grade. Overall she was one of the worst professors that I have had here.
Mrs. Moore, has been my favorite professor here at Whitewater. She is upbeat, inspirational, helpful and cheerful. What Mrs. Moore teaches you is so much more than English. She teaches you how to think, how to recognize connections and how to understand the bigger picture. Take English 101 with her, you'll learn more than you thought possible.
English 102 is a tough subject to teach, but Mrs. Moore does a great job of it! She's like your grandma: sweet, caring and lovable. Mrs. Moore will go out of her way to help you if you ask. She's a highly intelligent woman who knows her stuff and loves to share information. I highly recommend taking English 102 with her. She's an awesome professor!
The breadth of information taught in this class (African American Lit) was eye-opening. I really enjoyed when class discussions leaned toward those authors from 100 years ago (or more) and how they were speaking directly to us today. Dr. Moore's comments on my papers were thoughtful. This class is a LOT of reading and writing, but VERY worth it.
3 essays and 2 quizzes along with 1 short group presentation. very simple and easy. highly recommend taking it. can miss up to 3 classes in the semester before you lose points or get dropped from the class.
Honestly, did not enjoy her as a teacher whatsoever. She doesn't let you ask a question without making you feel stupid about it. Although slavery is an important topic to discuss, her entire ENGLISH class is basically a history lesson on slavery. She will often sit in front of the class and just stare instead of letting us leave a few minutes early
The majority of your grade for the class is three five-paragraph essays written throughout the semester. You don't do much in-class, but she does take attendance and is known to call on random students for answers to the discussion at any given time. She also occasionally assigns grammar packets and has vocal quizzes. I would recommend her.
Dr. Moore is a very nice lady, however, her teaching skills could use slight fine-tuning. Her lectures are (literally) all over the board. She is also hard of hearing, so be sure to be clear and loud when talking. There are 3 5-paragraph essays (1 rewrite) and a 10 paragraph research paper and a couple vocab quizzes. Write exactly like she wants.
Dr. Moore is a very intelligent, driven lady. She expects you to be thorough and analytically thoughtful in the papers and reading. If you want a good grade on a paper, make sure you take detailed notes on what her analysis of the reading is. She's not one of those fun, easy and loveable teachers, but you can learn a lot from her.
She is honestly the worst teacher I've ever almost had. Dropped her class within 2 weeks. She literally, not an exaggeration, has her notes in chicken writing all over the board, they have no organization, and she isn't clear at all when she gives her lectures. I hope you find a way out of taking this professor, good luck to you all.
Truly the worst professor I have had her at Whitewater. She does not accept your evaluation of the book if it doesn't reflect her ideas exactly. She is an extremely hard grader and offers little to no help. AVOID HER
Not clear on directions. Expects you to have a 500 page book done in a week. Not my favorite professor.
3 easy essays, given multiple weeks to complete. 2 quizzes which are very easy and then 1 term paper which is assigned months before its due and she pretty much tells you what to write so it makes it easy. Only allowed 3 absenses though before you lose points.
I really enjoyed taking this course, especially the novels, Woman Warrior and Love Medicine. The class is mostly lecture with one midterm and one final essay take home exam. I was entered into two writing contents for my essay exams because the structure lent itself so well to great writing. Professor was very helpful and encouraging.
She is a very smart lady and really knows what she is talking about. However, your papers have to be structured exactly how she wants them. You don't get any freedom in your writing. If you go to class and pay attention to what she wants, you should end up with at least a B in the class.
I was fully prepared to enjoy this class and was very disappointed. I despise Moore's teaching style, and am not sure that I've actually learned anything other than how to regurgitate information. She'll ask a question and then interrupt with the answer that she wanted. There is no room for class discussion or any opinions other than hers. Avoid.
Does not have class available on D2L
The class was basically a few papers and watching a lot of documentaries. The only downside is that she can be pretty unclear with directions and doesn't seem to have a real grading system
I have never been scared to go to a class before this professor. Truely treats everybody like they are stupid and VERY unclear on directions . She is very intelligent though and opened my eyes to different works of literature.
Professor Moore's class is very easy as long as you read the novels, and show improvement throughout essays. Class is usually to discuss novels watch documentaries. She is very unclear as to what she wants in essays, however if you take notes, its not too hard to figure out. She also gives easier assignments for this course compared to others
Dr. Moore gives three you three essays that have clear questions, but her lectures in class will confuse the hell out of you. She has not had a clear answer on anybody's questions. In class discussions she often expects the students to know the answer and disapproves of you if you get the answer wrong
Unless you don't want to be treated like a human take a class with her. She expects respect but won't respect others in return, she is not technologically advanced so you don't know what grade you get in the class, she's just overall one of the worst teachers I have ever had.
Dr. Moore gives you every opportunity to succeed. Your grade is based on the scores of your papers, and she gives you EVERYTHING you need to be successful to write a good paper in class. If you have that and pay close attention to what she says in lecture, you will have all the content you need to write every paper she assigns you.
Professor Moore has high expectations for her students because she knows that we are capable of producing quality work. She expects us to keep up with the readings and participate in discussions. She is available to provide feedback and is very open about what she is looking for. E-mails back quickly. I have taken two of her courses.
Dr. Moore is a very educated person, but I would NOT take a class with her again. Her English 101 has great material, but your only grades in the class are for 4 essays. She is a very tough grader, but gives little to no specific feedback. I felt intimidated to ask her questions, and would often feel belittled once I did. Wouldn't recommend.
Geneva Moore was one of the toughest instructors I've ever had. Lectures were heavy, and didn't necessarily help with the subject on hand. Her grading is tough, and based on criteria that was never taught during high school. Only 4 essay assignments, and a vocabulary test. Wouldn't and will not take again.
Absolutely rude. I can handle a professor grading hard, but treating me like an idiot? I absolutely hated that. I'm not going to try and pull a "she didn't like my writing style", but I didn't deserve the grade I got. With few writing errors, I always got docked points for content but wouldn't explain why.
You have to read and write MANY THINGS. We only had one "test" the whole semester and that was on vocabulary words. You have to rent out two books and buy two books, we only used one of the rented books. BRING THE BOOK YOU ARE READING FOR CLASS AND WRITE DOWN EVERYTING SHE SAYS OR WRITES DOWN, THIS SAVED ME. Good luck 3/10
Some of her lectures were kind of hard to follow, but if you took notes and did the readings she set up all of your papers for you. She would give you the outline, and a bunch of quotes all you had to do was put it together. She's really nice, but DON'T skip her class. SHE WILL FAIL YOU.
This professor is ver unreasonable. Little to no contact after class, doesnt read emails or barely in office hours. Very rude and does not listen well. Quick to change syllabus during the semester. I do not recommend this professor.
Very hard grader and grammar is very important to her. Will call on you in front of the class and ask difficult questions.
Never looked forward to this class. Her lectures are all over the place, and she is not afraid to call out students. Strays away from any use of technology, including D2L. She is CRAZY about grammar, and if you don't agree with her opinion be prepared to get deducted points on essays. It's her way or the highway.
Dr. Moore is a great teacher, who really cares about her students. Yes, her lectures can be all other the place and sometimes doesn't answer questions in an understandable way, but she really does try. If you reach out to her, she will be more than willing to help. There are 4/5 papers in her class, but if you try you'll be fine. Go to class.
This course is intended for students who have a background or intense interest in English and AA history. This class requires proficient analytical skills and is not meant for students who want an easy A or aren't committed to do the work. Just because it fulfills a diversity credit doesn't mean its easy.
You are assigned readings and class consists of lectures. Her lectures tend to be disorganized. For this course, she assumes students have an above average level of understanding and analyzing abilities. If you don't have an interest or background in English, this class isn't for you.
Be prepared to put the time and effort into this class. This course focuses on writing skills and emphasizes attention to detail and grammar. There is one quiz, one power point presentation, and several papers (which make up the majority of your grade) If you go to class, take notes, and put forth effort in your writing, you will do just fine.
English 345 was a thought-provoking course because it discusses the history of African-Americans through literature written by African-Americans as well as literature written by the Abolitionists. This course teaches things that you don't learn in HS. However, it is both a lecture and reading heavy course.
She is a great teacher, who really knows what she is talking about. If you do the work for her class and put in the effort it is an easy class. She is always open to questions. However, beware- sometimes she thinks she answers them but she doesn't and she then changes the topic. If you don't know the answer in class, she will give it to you.
The worst teacher Ive ever had. Expects you to know everything and never teaches
I had no problem with this professor. As long as you do the readings and know how to write essays you should be fine
She is an incredible professor who is admirably passionate about what she teaches. As long as you pay attention and actually try, the class will not be a problem for you. APPRECIATE HER.
Doesn't see things from a student's perspective. Expects everyone to already know everything and then will look at you like you're dumb if you ask a question. Very inconsistent grader. Had 4 essays and got a D+, A+, A, B and I felt all of them were of the same quality. Get on her good side
I was terrified because of her reviews, but she is not that bad at all. Make sure you write everything she talks about down and your essays will practically write themselves.
Expect lots of arguing if you want to clearly understand anything. She asks for things that contradict her own guidelines for papers, making things very confusing. It doesn't help that everything in class just happens, as an example one day we talk about Hamlet and the next is suddenly about a Mexican revolution!?
Do not recommend
Worst professor Ive ever taken. If your not on her good side you wont get good grades. She tells the class what she wants in a paper and what should be referenced and then who you should mention so papers will be different but, similar. She said I cheated on a paper because me and another student had similar ideas. Explaining, leads to arguments.
Youre expected to read an entire book in a matter of days, no matter how busy your schedule. She doesnt answer questions and instead changes the topic. She is incredible picky with grammar and it seems to be almost impossible to give her a paper she feels is decent. I wouldnt recommend her to my worst enemy.
Excellent Professor! Most students at Whitewater are lazy and dont want to work. I am transferring out of this nowhere school to Madison.
It's clear Ms. Moore is smart and passionate about what she teaches, but lectures can be challenging to follow. As long as you pay attention, take good notes, and put what you learn from the lectures into your papers (which there are only 2 of, 10 pg), you'll get a good grade. Work also includes two presentations, which we later found were ex cred.
This course is not difficult as long as you do the readings, which isn't hard because the material is interesting. Professor Moore teaches the material in a way that connects the readings to each other and to life outside of class because for many students this is the last English course they will take. It may seem like a lot but stick with it.
Personally I would not recommend. I found that every class when we discuss the books we read she gets off track very easy and talks about things that have nothing to do with the book. Very unclear with essays and the criteria for the essays.
Professor Moore is extremely nice and understanding. However, she is the toughest grader I've ever had and will make you work for it. The lectures are important as she basically tells you what to write. If you're willing to spend the money on Grammarly premium take her, if not try to find someone else if getting a C is upsetting to you.
