Professor Cruz thinks she is your only professor. She is very biased and will not approve your topic proposal if you dont agree with her views (even though its an argumentative class). She grades harshly and claims she is the hardest professor in the writing department. She is unprepared for classes and changes dates on assignments last minute.

Professor makes this class harder than it needs to be. She is very disorganized and wont tell you when things are due until 2 days before the due date. The work load is outrageous, you'll have minimal time for your other classes. Criteria for assignments is unclear. There are better professors at UTSA that understand that you take other classes

I took her at a community college, though her main school is UTSA. She constantly shamed the class for our writing skills and said her richer students at UTSA are her favorite students. From day one she assumed and treated us as if we were uneducated and ALWAYS compared us to her Uni. students. Always made everyone feel ashamed of our education.

I jut had her for class and she literally made it impossible. She did not lecture at all but expected us to know what we were supposed to be doing. She is also so terrible at getting things graded. I didn't get a grade for a rough draft until after the Final draft was due. She didn't take into account that we were in a pandemic

Shes very vague and doesnt explain in great detail what she wants from you, and expects a high performance

I do not recommend taking this professor. She does not care that you have other classes and will make you do unnecessary things for grades. She hands out so many grades but doesn't keep up with the grading. Her feedback is borderline rude and condescending.

She is actually just stupid. She creates discussion boards to upload your drafts so people can peer review it then immediately removes the board so you can't even see the review of your papers. Does not contact you back when you try to get help outside of class. The zoom meeting are literally just her reading the instructions to the assignment.

Horrible professor when it comes to explaining things clearly and when you ask questions about stuff she didn't go over she will refer back to what she said and will say you need to pay more attention. Makes no sense what's so ever.

Very condescending to students. Nearly every question our class asked was treated as a stupid question. She wants assignments done a certain way but won't elaborate. Does not practice what she preaches with deadlines-Changed every deadline but expects your stuff in time, otherwise it's an automatic 0. Items graded rarely have constructive feedback.

Literally the worst professor I have EVER HAD. Seriously take anyone else. No one could POSSIBLY be this bad. She is literally rude, stuck up, has NO INTENTION of helping you out, and deducts MAJOR points for the dumbest crap such as BORDER LENGTH. Seriously run. I'm not being dramatic. I am a straight A pre-med student.

This professor is terrible. So unorganized and didn't even create a schedule for assignments. She changes the due date multiple times and makes things due at different times. It is incredibly hard to contact her. She is a tough grader, any little thing and points are deducted. Wish I would've read reviews before I took her class.

Don't take this class. Honestly the work isn't too bad, it's the prof that makes it impossible. She expects so much, yet doesn't specify, leaving us all confused. You can never win with her, there is always something wrong. Then when there is something wrong, its either major deductions or a 0. Also, she's always so rude when giving "feedback".

Always forgets to post dropboxes. Doesn't keep up with her grades. Post discussions to submit rough drafts so you can receive peer reviews then deletes it before you can even see the reviews. Gives no feedback when she gives bad grades, grades super harshly. ANY other prof would be a better choice.

Hid and/or deleted some of my assignments in the class's discussion board that negatively influenced later projects. During lectures, she just reads from the handout for the assignment. Questions that are asked are usually treated as dumb questions or she just refers back to the handout. When asked to clarify, either doesn't respond or sidesteps.

I tried to have an understanding with her but shes literally so miserable; thinks the world revolves around her class. I hope she sees this and changes because MANY students have just had it with her horrible teaching throughout the time being with her. I dont understand why shes even teaching if she has such a stuck up and miserable attitude.

Most difficult class I have taken in my life. Extremely difficult to understand directions for assignments, and when you messed up on a paper or assignment, she'd make you feel stupid about it. Harsh grader - gave me a 50 for adding a single "I" because POV wasn't asked for. By the end of the class, 3/4 of the students had already dropped out.

She assigns so much work and doesn't even grade it until a month after, and when she does, she is such a tough grader and gives no feedback and by the time you get it back you aren't allowed to redo it for a better grade. She claims at the beginning that you can turn things in late within 48 hours but didn't allow that for a single assignment.

Instead of teaching she assigns many papers and expects us to get it perfect immediately. For some assignments she told us we're all guaranteed 50! For a while she refused to have a due date time of 11:59 pm because she doesn't want to stay up late... You cannot miss a class because she creates assignments and makes them due DURING CLASS

I have never hated a professor more in my entire life. Not only is she an entitled brat, but she thinks that the her class is superior to any other class you are taking. Seriously, drop out if you get her as a professor. Working at McDonalds is probably 100x better than having to deal with her. I could write a book on how awful of a prof she is.

She isn't understanding of your situation. She doesn't explain anything well at all, she isn't the nicest person when grading, doesn't give any second chances. She is very rude and not nice at all.

DON'T RECOMMEND. As a freshman, this class was quite difficult. I was also treated unfairly by this professor. Class doesn't seem to be about the betterment of students writing than just random group projects and the professor's personal stories. We were required to buy $135 worth of books, as struggling college freshmen, that we NEVER even used.

She spent the majority of the class time telling stories, leaving no class time to work on the numerous assignments and papers. Thought she was so funny at the sametime.

I do not recommend at all taking a course with Professor Cruz, she is very mean and an extremely tough grader. She doesn't give feedback for anything till once it has already been due and graded and she won't get back to you via email. She makes her students feel dumb and gives out so much work without accepting late submissions or excuses.

I HIGHLY advise you to NOT take this class, this professor is a very tough grader and expects you to be perfect right out the gate, also be prepared for an excessive amount of homework that will almost make no time for your other classes. I'm not joking when I say she assigned homework over Thanksgiving break, YOUVE BEEN WARNED!

Horrible teacher, surprised she doesn't have a 1 star rating. Very immature teacher and very unorganized. Most of her class doesn't even want to show up due to her being a horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER, it will be a nightmare. She belittles you and doesn't give clear advise. She will tell you "expand more" but meaning something else.

Trust me this Professor gets off topic very often and gives you very little time to finish! Please I am trying to save yall. Vindictive against absent students, ruthless with amount of hw assignments, will give you a group project that makes you want to rip your eyes out because she chooses the topic and then assigns you to work with a random section of the class who might be useless, requires so much of your time out of class just to even comprehend her prompt for asgnt

Her class was nothing but tons of assignments that require so much yet has a weird rubric on what to do, especially when it comes time to do the group project. Harsh grader, will deduct a lot of points if you don't do things her way. Doesn't grade assignments until weeks later after they're due. AVOID TAKING HER CLASSES!

Professor barely graded at all, was a very tough grader, and barely communicated assignments to students.

DO NOT TAKE! Unless you want to fail and have a mental breakdown, do not take this course. She never grades papers it's the end of the semester and she hasn't graded our first essay that was due in September. She's very harsh with grading however there are a few completion assignments. She's very contradictory with her feedback and her rubrics.

She was so bad I wanted to give her a zero but that isn't possible, so I give her a one. She's very interesting to understand during her lectures. She rambles through most of the class about either her personal life or uses examples that don't really applied to her assignments. All you have to do is follow what she wants, and you won't fail.

This class was the only reason I actually cried this semester, she'll talk in circles about what you've done wrong on an assignment without being helpful in improving the assignment. This being said the only useful educators in the class is your peers and the writing center(THEY ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND HER). Good luck

This professor will expect you to know everything she teaches in this class by one lecture. Her opinion on you will be determined on where you sit in her class, so be ready when she hates you because you sit in the back row.

Please do NOT take this professor. She drowns you with busywork and calls it a day. She is uncompromising on attendance and then wastes all of class rambling or going over useless information. Her instructions are vague and she grades harshly with little to no feedback. She is unprofessional and rude to her students. I would not take her again.

Biggest thing was the confusing grading criteria. Stressing over how to write something to her standards is not worth it and a total dead end. You can't go wrong with picking anybody else over her especially if you are an incoming freshman. You will regret your choice of continuing your education. You will spend all your time on her assignments.

Words cannot express how burnt out this class made me at the end of semester. She makes you do four completed essays you would think you're done right. WRONG!! She makes you do a WHOLE portfolio and then gives you a day in a half to finish an essay. You could be in the hospital, and she would still expect you to do your work. PLEASE AVIOD HER

does not give clear guidelines at all. Wont tell you when exactly assignments are due. for me it's currently finals week and i still have over twenty ungraded assignments. Even when I've gone to the writing center other professors have told me that most assignments don't make sense and are not right in there eyes

do not take her. she does not give clear guidelines, yes she is an okay person but as a professor no. she grades everything LAST MINUTE. you can ask her a question in person one day then ask her the same one another day and you will get a completely different answer. i could go on and on, but if u get stuck and if u do the work u will be fine.

Horrible teacher, this class ended up being the one of my hardest class to get an A in. She has a consistent record of giving horrible and unclear instructions, assigned assignments to be due on Saturdays, and I ended the semester with over 50 assignment in the grade book for which she put procrastinates to the end of the semester.

UTSA needs to fire her. Unacceptable.

Not a great teacher if you really want to improve your writing abilities. The best bet is to take advantage of other available resources to help with your writing on campus or avoid her completely.

She waits to grade until the end of the semester which makes it difficult to improve not knowing what needs improvement. Do not take her! Although this class has 4 papers and no test, this professor should not be taken. Her guidelines for class assignments are always unclear and cryptic. If you ask for help, has more than one time, became upset and yelled. Take another professor.

Super confusing, and when I asked for clarification, she didn't answer. Seems like a nice person, but can be a little passive aggressive at times. An A is achievable but takes a lot of effort with extra credit.

I'll say this, as a senior now I like to look back on my sub par professors and hope to one day provide a younger student the best advice possible to succeed and one day graduate. First thing I would say is NEVER EVER take a class with Prof Cruz. Yes I did become a better writer, but at what cost. My mental sanity? My self worth? That is all.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE TO! Your grade is dependent on three major essays and if you miss one, it's difficult to make up the grade difference. There is NO LATE WORK allowed and very little feedback on assignments. This class will take up a majority of your time if you wish to pass.

She's a generally awful teacher, who spends at least half of any given lecture talking about how amazing she is. In reality, her class has nothing of substance to offer, and the grading criteria actively tries to screw you. I actually enjoy writing, but this class drained my love for literature.

Her project directions are super confusing, and you have to reread them multiple times to understand. Deadlines for one assignment are all over the place—something might be due before class, and another part by the end of the day. When there's a lot due in her class, it's easy to lose track because it feels so scattered.

Very disorganized! Gives a lot of assignments with so little time to do them. Her deadlines are all over the place and it takes extreme focus and discipline to stay caught up. Attendance is mandatory. She does give a lot of extra credit tho.

Incredibly disorganized, unclear, and unfair. Her "rubrics" consisted of a few short, unclear, and mispelled sentences that basically boil down to "write about this topic," yet she will grade you poorly if you don't inclue things she did not ask for. also likes to assign multiple different parts of different assignments at once, all due within days

You should take this class if you have nothing going on outside of school. She will assign assignments before the last assignment is due/turned in, and on top of that, she will grade you extremely harshly. You can follow the rubric and still not satisfy her. Don't take the class if you're not Shakespeare or Jane Austen.

Bragged that our assignment was harder than other classes, we were forced to survey people around campus while other classes tracked their sleep. She said it was more "real world," but this class is needed for all fields and I will never have to do this after this year. Senior roommate said papers were worse than the ones he has and had to write.

Incoming freshmen, do not take this professor. She is difficult to contact outside of class hours and does not care if you have a life outside of school. She gives very little feedback which makes it harder to improve on future papers.

I've had mean teachers and professors before but she really takes the cake. The way she treats others is genuinely unprofessional. She will constantly throw shade at you if she does not like you and constantly pick on you. She needs a board review.

This is the worst teaching instructor I've ever had. Very disrespectful and very unprofessional. This class has caused me more stress than any of my upper-level courses. She is very unorganized with her assignments and expects her students to balance multiple projects simultaneously, while grading harder than I've seen any professor grade.

I respect her as a person, but her as a teacher it's draining. I understand that it's a lot of work, but that is not the issue. The problem is her attitude, she is just super passive aggressive and it is hard to satisfy her. Mind you, this is freshman composition 1, so obviously we are not going to be perfect. Do not take this class.

I learned one thing from this professor - listen to ratings on here when signing up for classes. Most of her class time is spent talking about how great she believes she is. She's so deluded that she speaks as if her students admire her. I didn't hear a single classmate say anything positive about her, ever. She will make you loathe writing.

For the love of good sweet god, do not take WRC1013 with Professor Cruz... Only low grade I ever had my freshman year, not only does she grade tough, but she grades vague. Once you realize you got a low grade, have fun trying to decipher why. She certainly won't tell you. Oh, and never let her know her score on here or she crashes out. I was there.
