The most God-awful, disgraceful professor I have ever had in my entire life.
Almost the entire class dropped out of her class. She's an awful professor, one who probably finds pleasure in failing students and seeing her students perform miserably on tests.
Makes Ivan the Terrible look like Ivan the Wonderful.
Her lecture is boring and test are hard but it fairly easy to get a good grade in her class even if u get bad grades on test.
Tough with a very structured syllabus. Worth it if you really want to learn about biology.
If you really wanted to learn about Biology, you wouldn't be taking BSC1005, which is Biology for non-science majors, a required class for graduation. This teacher teaches the class as if we're all science majors; everyone failed tests, she didn't care.

Terrible professor; her lectures are confusing because they are information overload. And she wonders why students do so freaking poorly on her tests. Don't take her, unless you already know a lot about Biology.
I'd rather have the runs for 2 weeks than suffer through this heartless wench's class again.

Dr. Chung is an excellent teacher. She is not easy. You have to study a lot and put effort into her class. Make sure you do all the extra credit in her class and never miss a session!

Very hard teacher, so hard to understand her cause she thinks we know everything already. her tests are extremely hard, the whole class was failing. Her lectures are in powerpoint, she doesn't explain everything, you basically have the learn the whole book by heart.
she is moody and picky she enphacizes certain material in class and it is never tested, while the tests are made up of the most obscure things that you're she doesn't even know herself. She cannot answer any questions. I have never gotten lower than a B in any Science and I got a D with her.
She says her notes are optional, but "highly recommends" them. If you don't purchase them, you will not be able to take notes because she goes through the work very quickly. She doesn't teach, just reads her notes with you. So,in order to have ortake notes,you must spend more $ to buy her notes.
Chung makes a hard class even harder. Her tests are the the most difficult tests I have ever taken. She reads directly from her notes. If you want to make a decent grade, expect to study the entire book. The only extra credit option is a powerpoint presentation.

Took her class for biology 1. She hated me because all I had to do was read the book to past the tests; never did the assignments and never took notes. WAS ONE POINT away from an A and the heiffer wouldnt give it to me. AND not very helpful to students who are having trouble.

Her test are the hardest. BIOLOGY IS HARD ALREADY and she manages to make it harder!!... only teaches from her notes so you better study from her notes and book. if you are trying to challange yourself take her otherwise DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!
Chung was a decent teacher in general, she is passionate about the subject, so if you aren't interested in it, I suggest you find another teacher. Her tests are VERY hard. I did her notes and read the book, but I can't remember everything and therefore skimmed with C's. Trust me, 98% of the class was happy to even get a C.
This poor excuse of a professor is the reason why immigration laws should be stricter! Prof. Chung takes pleasure in spreading her venom and making the class MISERABLE. She thinks she is an ivy leaguer, but if you look at her credentials she is lucky she's a professor @ a community college. Bitter woman. I pity those that live under her roof!!

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!! hardest class EVER!! she can't teach all she does is read of her slides from power point and doesnt teach. you have to read a lot which still doesn't help.
When you first start it may seem like she's giving you wayyy too much work but not really. Just make sure to do ALL your homework, it will make a huge difference at the end of the semester.
Very rude woman. Her tests are off topic from her lectures and have many "trick" questions. Don't ever complain to her or about her methods, because she'll just smile and say "I have tenure. I'm not going anywhere." She's been there like 15 years or something, she's not lying (which means she's there to stay) Simply avoid her.
How can anyone have anything bad to say about a professor who lets you have a clue sheet? What other science teacher do you know that gives a student such an advantage. If you dont do well in her class it is because you didn't really try. I hate science but I was blessed when I got this professor.
When people complain about Dr.Chung all I can do is shake my head. Yes, I have to admit, her tests are a little diffult but your allowed to bring a one-page clue sheet. The truth is it's science, which by itself is diffult. The final exam is optional if you have a "B" average which isnt so hard to get. I would recommend her.
um ok. dr. chung is really nice and her class is seriously NOT THAT HARD. her tests are really difficult, but she lets you have a clue sheet. ok? so if you're not retarded, you'll pass. the only homework the whole semester is the study guides and they're really easy to do. i got an A without too much effort. plus she's even kinda funny. ok? ok.

All these other reviews are SOOOO wrong!!! Please do not take her, for botany that is. You shouldn't be taken botany anyways, but if you MUST take someone else or DROP OUTTA SCHOOL, thats better than sitting through her stupid classes. She reads from powerpoints and lets you use a "cheat-sheet" that won't help anyways.
She's actually very nice, caring, & understanding, but tough. I guess one thing I got out of this class is a challenge, which some of my other classes have failed to give me. Botany's just really BORING.Tests are almost impossible, especially if you're not into Botany-cheat sheets help only a little. Just do all the other assignments.
while many other commenters will speak ill of the professor, i admit they are merited to a degree. however, the truth of the matter is that the course does require time and effort to pass. i used a little of each and a 10 year old textbook to get by and the grade was deserved. for those who complain, ride it out to the end and she has you covered.
This lady is totally unrealistic with the work load she gives to students. Her tests are next to impossible and the cheat sheet will do absolutely nothing. She becomes very defensive when you question her class and ask if students are doing well in her class. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS!!!
Professor Chung is a great person. She is fun but no nonsense. Her lecture and lab classes on Mon and Wed were interesting. I especially liked open discussions on the subject of course. If you don;t want to put forth effort then don;t take her class. She is very fair. I enjoyed her alot.
SHES A STRAIGHT TEACHER...JUST TAKE THE NOTES GET HER TO TALK OFF TOPIC A LIL TO KEEP IT INTERESTING. ALWAYS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE "CHEAT SHEET"!! SHES UNDERSTANDING AND HELPFUL BUT THE TESTS ARE HARD AND YOU HAVE TO EARN YOUR GRADE.
This class is not easy, but it is also not difficult if you just do what she says. The tests are the hardest part, but if you care enough to make a "clue sheet" you'll do fine. She is a nice person that is easy to talk to.
this class was very easy if you took it seriously and studied, and did what she told you. whoever didnt pass her class did not try hard enough. Very cool teacher
She is by no means a hard teacher. The course itself covers a lot of information, but I think she does a very good job at teaching it. Her lectures are very detailed and she even lets you use a clue sheet on your tests. If you can put in even minimal effort you can easily pass this class with a B or better.
I am warning you do not take this teacher. She is a nice lady, but is not meant for teaching! her test are way too hard and she told me I should read the books chapters 4 times thru!! cuz i was not understanding the stuff, take an easier teacher.
This teacher is very smart and know her stuff. If you pay attention, copy all her notes, and study you will do fine. If you have at least at B before the final you are exempt from taking it. I highly recommend her, you will definately learn a lot.

She is very tough. Don't take her if your not willing to read each chapter 4 times. This is not an easy course don't take it if you don't need to. There is no one on campus that can help you with Bot 2010.
VERY SMART TEACHER!..explains very clear but it is a really hard class, there is a lot of material to cover and you have to study a lot to pass the exams. I recommend her, she makes the class very interesting but you do have to give it your best. It is not an easy grade.
Could not stand this class, especially when she singles you out in front of the whole class when you ask a question and makes a fool of you. What kind of teacher answers sarcastically when students need help? How dare she call herself a teacher. How dare those people at BC hire her. I did not find this instructor interesting and she was able to make what i thought would be a fun class like botany uninteresting and unbearable. I recommend dropping this class. Not a pleasant experience at all.
She is very hard and doesn't explain anything to you. If you want to pass this class read the chapters, She uses PP but the information in her PP is in the back of book after each chapter. Her tests include info from both the notes & book.
The most arrogant professor I've ever had. Will purposely humiliate students who have relevant questions. Defies the quote, "never a dumb question". Very bright lady. But being bright and well educated was never synonymous for being a great educator. I would never recommend this professor to anyone. HORRIBLE
The class was really interesting but its really hard. She doesn't review before tests and there's no way of knowing whats going to be on it. She lets you use a cheat sheet. Shes a nice teacher but its easy to get lost if you miss classes. I suggest making flash cards, i did and still only got a C and I studied my butt off!
She is very nice. Lets you use cheat sheet on tests. Goes over material quickly easier to review notes & book. Projects are super easy. Uses points to grade...keep track of your points...mistakes have occurred.
She is the most useless teacher you will ever meet. Cheat sheets are allowed on tests but not like it helps you much. The tests are only 25 questions and on 20 different chapters and the questions won't even always be what she talks about. I study my butt off and it doesn't reflect on my grade.
Worst professor at BCC. She seems like she hates teaching and she will never answer a question. She will act condescending even if you ask an appropriate question. I am a science major and I enjoy takng science classes but this was the worst. Just drop this class, its not worth it.

To any student who takes this class, keep in mind this will be your new Religion! Forget about everything else and READ your book/chapters like it's a book by Nicolas Sparks or something. Not too helpful she will say go get a tutor. Good Luck if you take it!

Worse Prof ever, if you want to call her a prof. Makes you READ chapters and if you cant understand sends you to tutors; her chapters exams are multiple choice with a cheat sheet but only unless you really understood all material would u be able to answer the questions correctly. she uses the class time for lecture but impossible to take notes
She extremely nice and very helpful if you show interest. This class is VERY hard in order to pass you MUST study and understand material. She will allow a cheat sheet but it's honestly useless if you didn't study.
Worst Professor ever encountered. If you want to learn to hate science, this is the class for you. Will not answer most questions and sends to tutor on different schedule. Worst EVER. Reads from powerpoint which is in book and you sit and write as fast as possible. No reviews. Lab is even worse
I overall enjoyed her class and learned alot! She is friendly if you ask her questions but is very hard, i studied and read all the chapters for her test and always got a B. She does allow a clue sheet but there is ALOT of info for the tests, include scientific names of plants. Not a class to take if your not serious about it and make the effort
I never went to class because it was so boring. She doesn't really teach, just reads word for word off the powerpoints. I taught myself from the book and did all her hw (there's a lot) and got A's on all the tests. She lets you use a one page front and back cheat sheet and if you have an A or a B you can exempt the final. Pretty easy class
I took Botany twice with Chung and for whatever reason failed twice. I did homework, passed labs, & took lots of notes. I actually still understand the material, but failed every test. She is very strict, but explains things well. Very hands on. Will take walks around campus to show you plants. Extra credit available.
I think she should have better reviews and not spend so much time writing different versions of the test. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. Choose another teacher.
There's online hw due every week, then review for the exam, then the exam which you can use a "clue sheet" for. I learned a lot from her. You just have to put effort into the homework and reading the chapter because everything is literally there and when she goes over the PowerPoint, it's basically review. Definitely recommend her.
I took her biology class and being mostly a straight A student i found this class quite difficult. You do 3 hours worth of online homework and only receive 5 points for the work which is the same amount of points on 2 questions for a test. The tests are somewhat difficult but she does give you a clue sheet. Questions on the test can be confusing.
PLEASE DON'T TAKE HER CLASS! Tests are really hard and even though you can use a clue sheet, it won't help much. She likes giving stupid in-class group tasks (a lot!!).Her lectures are RIDICULOUSLY boring and you ain't learn sh** from her, be prepared to teach yourself biology. Homework is online. I honestly regret taking this class It's gonna ruin my GPA . Overall I am a good student but there is no hope for me with her. Her lectures are pointless the info is too much her test are soo broad all over the place. As a teacher it would have helped if she broke it down to the important parts but she didn't. DOnt take her I'm warning you DOnt!
This professor managed to make this the most difficult class for non science majors. Pop quizzes, sarcastic responses when you need help, made us trade phone numbers with classmates to ask them the questions she'd deny answering. Test are so difficult,the time making a clue sheet is worthless, never used it when I had it.
I am a non science major so I expected the class to be a general take on bio. It was very tough. About half of students withdraw from the first day. Four exams with 50 questions. You will need to focus very hard on this course. however she does drop your lowest test grade and her grading scale can help you pass. DO the online homework.
She has clear criteria, if you follow everything there's no reason why you shouldn't get a good grade. Do the exam preps, read the chapters, & study the powerpoints. Tests are fine - if you study you're good. She's very unapproachable, even in her office hours. If you're independent & study well you'll be just fine. She's a good teacher.
Does not give lectures If you can teach yourself then this is the class for you, don't except to learn the material in class. Except a lot of homework and don't get comfortable ... just work work work.
We had an assignment for five points after the first test. I COMPLETED the assignment but she didnt feel like putting it in. I needed 3 points to earn a B in her class but she refused to put in the COMPLETED assignment because of my absences. All she does in class is put us in groups and have us discuss the chapters. Why would I show up for that?

only grades are from exam and project. in the beginning there are like 2-3 assignments worth 5 points . she will give you study guides but refuse to go over them or count them as a grade when our whole class was failing. everything is in the syllabus so don't try asking any questions. index cards wont help. lecture and study guide isnt on test
Worst professor I've ever had, doesn't explain course material well at all, her grade point system is flawed, if you want to pass you have to ace all 4, 50 point exams and 20 point quizzes, seeing that weekly hw is only 5 points. Please spare yourself, your gpa, and don't take her.
If you have another option than to take her class, please do so, she plays videos and barely discusses what is in the videos. I truly wished i had came here prior to taking her class, it was have save my GPA and my money.
This lady does not even deserve 1 star. All she does is lecture word-for-word off power points and if you ask a question, she rolls her eyes and yells at you making you feel stupid. She acts like this is Biology I when really this is non-majors biology. The only reason I passed this class is because I had my own private tutor and studied everyday.
If you're a person who actually studies and does the homework you'll pass. Its an easy A. I didn't get a better grade because I didn't put enough effort. She's approachable and answers all questions. A very nice person, when you read the syllabus it doesn't seem so, because she sounds uncompromising, but she's really sweet and funny. I recommend
