Canham is a very helpful proff. He takes the time to make sure you understand the material. I would recommend anyone who is interested in taking a chemistry course at Grenfell to try and get Canham to teach the course. He is the best!!!

I had Jeff over four years ago and he is still the best teacher I have ever had. I am pretty sure that he is retired this year but for all those that never had him when they had the chance you were missing out on a very good teacher.

Writes notes according to sections in book, which is VERY helpful! A great prof!

The man's a genious. He turned a potentially horrible course into one where I learned the info and kinda liked it. The notes were concise and to the point and examples given were very interesting. Bravo to you!

I have him for a variety of courses and he really do care about how you do in the them. he is one of the nicest people that you will every meet.

By far the best prof I've ever had. There aren't many teachers who really care about how their students are doing. He makes Chemistry interesting because he knows so damn much! I'd never want to play Trivial Pursuit against him. He'd kick anyone's ass.

I've had Rayner-Canham for six courses in my degree!! Very approachable and you will never have a professor who cares about his student's progress more than he does! Definately, the best prof around!!

Dr. GRC is, and this term was, an awesome professor. He is quite funny, obviously keen on his students and their progress, and has an amazing wealth of knowledge pertaining to all things chemistry. I would definetly recommend any first year students thinking about doing a science degree take a chem course with him.

the best prof I've had. RC makes me look fordward to gonig to class. He seems to actually care about his students. He really prepares you for the exam. He's quite demanding of his students, but it pays off. I would reccomend him over any other prof.

Dr.R-C is the bestest prof I had in my three years at Grenfell! He is really amusing, cares about his students and is a really fair marker. I would take him over any other prof in the whole school!

Dr. GRC was hard to get used to because he uses strategy and relationship for some problems. It was easy to adjust and although his tests are hard the final was much better and very fair. Know the notes! Any info in the notes is fair game for the test no matter how important you think it is. Overall he was awesome, especially with the class detours

Obviously deserving of whatever award he was in the paper for a while back! Interesting random stories on the side. The strategy-relationship thingie was a bit hard to get the hang of at first but is great now.

Dr. Rayner-Canham is an amazing professor. I love the way in which he makes chemistry interesting by relating it to things we know in every day life, and by telling very funny and amuzing stories. He is great!

I really enjoyed his class. He made it fun and was actually hilarious. He was always available and willing to help and encouraged us to come see him if we had any questions. He always said hello in the hall ways. I thoroughly enjoyed every one of his classes!

Excellent Women Studies Professor

He's very funny, has lots of interesting stories and stuff in class (so class is usually really interesting), unjudgemental, helpful (in class time or after class), he also has a work book that's good for studying for tests. Very friendly; and he's also feminist, which is kinda cool. I'd recomend him as a prof to anyone.

This man is an amazing professor. He is funny, brilliant, nonjudgmental, and holds some of the most interesting classes I have attended in any discipline. He relates chemistry to real life, making it tangible and comprehensible, and you learn a wealth of information not restricted to what is in the textbook. I highly recommend him to everyone.

He is an excellent prof he seemed to care about the progress of his students and was in his office and would answer any questions. If your doing chem I recommend you try and get this prof! :)

Dr. Rayner-Canham is an awesome chemistry teacher. He holds an extremely interesting class, with plenty of stores, and lots of real-life chemistry examples. His tests are a little bit hard, but this guy definitly improves your chemistry skills. Would recommend Dr. Rayner-Canham to anyone!

Very good prof. Interesting lectures and made class worth going to. He had little random "asides" that always related the material to real life examples which made it easier to understand. I would say attendance is mandatory just so you get all the notes because anything covered in class is fair game for tests/exams.His tests are average difficulty

A funny guy with a lot to teach. Crazy about spelling but great at keeping class interesting. Wonderfully understanding and helpful. A fantastic prof but a hard and critical marker.

Great Prof! Helps you understand Chemistry by relating it with the stories he tells. Class is very interesting, but you have to keep on top of material! Strongly recommend!

I hated chemistry, but liked rayner-canham. He's a very direct and meticulous man. His teaching and the textbooks he's written (used throughout the world in many languages)are grade A. He has a big heart, is fair and genuine. If I have to take nasty medicine, I'd prefer it delivered his way.

Great! He's very clear on exactly what you should know for tests and his tests aren't difficult, (if you know your spelling & study the notes and examples from class)! He's also super enthusiastic about chemistry and a really nice person! His classes are also really enjoyable, (even if chemistry isn't exactly your favourite course, like myself)!

The only down-side is Dr. Rayner-Canham's thick English accent. After two months you get used to it though, and realize that he is the best Prof in the history of North America. So yeah, take him and you will love you life ... and Chemistry too !

Cutest man on earth with the cutest accent. Saved me for chemistry. Was very clear in explaining and his notes were impeccable. Only flaw was the asides... I'm not one to want to listen to "interesting" information if it won't be tested. All in all, one of the best at Grenfell.

Was not sure how I felt about Chemistry before taking this class. But this prof made me fall in love with it, and always kept the class entertaining and interesting. Such an adorable man and truly amazing.

I LOVE Doctor Rayner-Chanham! He's the cutest little old man ever and he really knows his stuff. He cracks the littlest jokes in class that aren't really funny but you just got to laugh at them because its the sweetest little things ever. He clearly loves any bit of interesting knowledge wherever he can find it. 40th anniversary- what a champ!

Geoff Rayner-Canham is my favorite!! He is a very good professor who makes class interesting and fun. He gives "mini-quizzes" often, which help learn and are not difficult for the most part. I would take him again anytime and he teaches the material is an effective way

Dr. Rayner-Canham was an absolute delight. He clearly outlined what he expected of you and never tested anything that wasn't covered. The quizzes at the end of most classes were extremely helpful. If you didn't do well in them, it was because you didn't know the material and had bad notes. There was no "surprise" about them.

Great class. I am an older student who took Chemistry in high school over 20 years ago. You can take this class with zero background and get an A. Just don't skip classes. Text book isn't needed, his notes he posts online are fine.

Dr. Rayner Canham is the best prof that I have had so far at Grenfell! His lectures are amazing and he makes all the topics so interesting to learn about! His miniquizzes that he has his students complete are a good way to boost your average in the course! He is very particular about spelling and proper formulas but overall a fair grader!

Dr. Rayner-Canham was amazing!! Such a funny, down to earth guy. His lectures are so interesting and he is always able to answer questions if you don't quite understand a topic. He gives pop quizzes during most classes but they are a great indicator to him for whether or not he is explaining a topic well enough. Easy A if you study hard!!!

Amazing prof that looks at the interest of students before himself. If you want a teacher that is clear in exam format, tests and daily quizzes, while having a fun class with useful information, this is the teacher for you! Could not recommend enough.

As someone who does terribly in the field of science and requires accommodations at the blundon centre, Dr. Rayner-Canham was absolutely great. His topics were super interesting and used real life materials to get you to relate the course content to everyday things. Would definitely take his class again.

Best professor I've had. I have taken chem1810 and chem1900, Both courses were easy to understand and very organized. both courses consisted of a weekly straight forward, fun lab and short quiz and discussion post. Can't say enough good things. Will be taking chem3261 with him next semester.

Geoff was a professor I had during the coronavirus, and he was really good to answer any questions I had. For his Chem 1810 course, it was quite a breeze, because the lecture material was so easy to understand and find the answer you need.

This course was such a delight to take... The teaching is shared between two professors and they were both incredible. I was astonished at how much the profs actually cared. They were so supportive throughout the year and just a pleasure to learn from to be honest.

Love love love! My favourite prof at MUN by a far! Very caring and kind. Very willing to help when you may need it! Great about extensions! I accidentally missed a quiz and he opened the quiz for me for an extra 3 days without me even asking!

If you need a science credit, take this course! Dr. Rayner-Canham and Debbie Wheeler are amazing, super responsive and always accommodating! There are weekly quizzes, assignments and discussion posts, but if you read the lectures and do the work you will have no problem with them! Would definitely recommend taking this course.

BEST. COURSE. EVER. This course counts as a science elective. You will learn about the inequality many women went through when they entered the science field in the past. I am in my last year at Grenfell and this is my favourite course! There are 3 journals, weekly quizzes online, discussion posts, and final exam. It is such an interesting course

Professor Rayner-Canham is very helpful and easy to access through email if you have any questions or if you need help. I was never a big fan of chemistry, but this course was really good. It was awesome because the examples were so interesting and relatable! You will also learn how Inuit culture/people have relevance to chemistry!

I loved gndr 2001 with ms wheeler & dr rayner-canham! Super interesting course with clear grading criteria and amazing and caring instructors. dr r-c seemed very kind and accommodating :) Totally recommend this course for anyone!!

I studied with Dr. Rayner-Canham in 2011. I'm still teaching lessons he taught me to people I meet. He was not only kind, a great professor, inspirational, and easy to learn from, but he brought out the best in me and left a mark on the course I took in life. I care more about the environment because of him. He is an incredible teacher - the best!
