He's quirky but gets the job done. Better than other Calc teachers.
argh! one of many teachers who cant teach beyond whats in their notes!
very good teacher. would take him again if i had to.
the guy is terrible i had to DROp. hE IS NEVER WILLING TO HELP AND IS A DUPA. OR SHOULD I SAY A COOLO!!!
He does teach everything based off his notes, but he does knows how to solve the problems. He's not the greatest teacher to approach, but if you persist you'll get it. He is kind of cool by trying to make class a bit fun as well.
jeoff is the man, makes the subject very interesting and fun. yes, he might not be the best teachers to get a hold of, but he explains really clearly I think. would take him again defenetely
he sucks!!!!
This guy is soooo rude, he is extremely ignorant and assumes that you should know everything without any help. He is NOT helpful, understanding, nor does he know how to teach a damn thing. Clearly HE SUCKSSSS!!!! Stay AWAY!!!!

he teached very well but his homework projets and eaxms are some different than he teaches.
he is very helpful and very organized.
A really good teacher. One of the best math teacher I had at Harper. He is not very easy, but he actually teach you something, and is really easy to understand. I would for sure take him again.
great teacher, make sure you study for his test, i would take him again if i had the chance
i think he is a great teacher and explains things very well. easy to understand and keeps you interested in what he is doing. i would definitely recommend him and i will take him again for sure. easy class.
Mr. Durian was a great teacher! Yes, his tests and quizzes are challenging, but I took MTH 201 even though I didn't need it just because he was teaching it. He is fair, but he will make you work. I'd take him again anytime.
Exceptional math teacher. he explains things ina very step by step concise method and his lectures are fun. Tests are not easy but by doing the homework assignments he gives (2 per test), you'll be fine. He's very approachable and easy going. He can recognize talent and effort. If you're a no effort spoiled kid, you'll get the grade you deserve.
He explained everything. He also gave you a lot of opprotunities to gain points back with homeowork projects.... not really any extra credit but he is very easy to follow
He is very helpful. If I don't understand something he will go over it with me until I get it. He makes math fun and easy. I have never felt that way about math before.
Hate math with a passion- but he seems like he'll help out and be able to help me pass the course ;) Really nice so far.
durian rocks /m/ best math teacher I've ever had and definitely inspired me to tutor math/physics while I was attending harper. if you can take math with mr. durian do it!!!
So the semester is almost over, and because of him I have a B, and it's been solid since the beginning of the year. This guy is awesome- and highly recommended.
He is the best teacher I have ever had for math, his notes are awsome and explains things over and over. Very recommended!
The best teacher I ever had at Harper. I wasted a lot of time and money in the math department and Mr. Durian was by far the best. He really likes to teach and that shows.
AWESOME teacher! He explains the material in class very clear and uses several examples to help you.
He is one of the few professors in the math/science department that speaks clear, concise English. His class is out of 1000 points, which is good for students. Not much extra credit. His final is very basic, not tricky at all. I enjoyed this class a great deal. I wish I would've had him for Calc II instead of the woman I got.
Awsome teacher! I was going for an A but got like a 88.9, he doesnt give hand outs but he will help you whenever you ask for help. I would take him again
awesome teacher! really clear and helpful!
Really boring and talks as if he's teaching kindergarten. Pay attention in class and take notes, definately do the homework and show up to class. If you're gonna miss a class, e-mail him cus he's a stickler about that. Overall, not too bad.
This guy sucks! He teaches like he's teaching 4th grade. He gives you all easy examples in class then puts completely diffrent examples on the tests and homework projects. He's not very helpull either and gives no ec.
I have him for Math 134. Really good teacher. Go to class because it makes the tests much easier. his lectures are really pretty good. He is pretty funny.
Best Calc 2 teacher.
Great teacher! There were six tests and 12 homework assignments (2 per chapter). The hw is hard compared to the tests; I got an A on 5/6 of the tests but got a B in the class. So put some effort into the hw! He's an entertaining guy; tells random corny jokes constantly. Explained the material very well. One of the best math teachers I've had.
Excellent Professor. You won't regret taking this class. Geoffrey Durian is intelligent, humorous, helpful and most importantly available to his students.
He's a good teacher. I'll warn you though, you'll fall asleep. He's kind of old so he tends to repeat his stories. He's got corky jokes which are funny for the first time, but afterwards it just gets old. Otherwise he's alright.
Mr.Durian is awesome!!! Best teacher ever. Explains everything as if you were a two year old. Very clear and helpful.
Explains everything VERY clearly and thoroughly and is helpful outside of class. He's a great teacher, I'd highly recommend him.
He is awesome teacher... he is the best teacher EVER.. I would say if you wanna take ANY of MATH class. plz take him and you will feel that you are the only one who knows Math.... he is soooooo good.. belive me .... if you wanna take MATH i would say just take Mr Durian ... he is so good and not even B but you will get an A+ for sure....
I took him for both 060, 080. Hes a really good teacher, if you hate math take him. In math 060 you need to buy the book. For 080 you don't need the book at all. Really gooood teacher
He is the best Math teacher ever. You will have fun in his class. He is very understanding. He makes sure that his students underdstand the material before moving on. I took math 060 and 080 with him, and each course was eight weeks. I passed both courses with an A" Take him, I highly recomend him.
Best professor ever for math. I would sugggest everyone to take his class.
I loved taking MR Durian. Best math teacher period. I go to another 4 year school took calc in the summer. He is better than any teacher at my other school. You have to take him for Calculus.
Took Mth200 this summer and passed whoot! I am selling my Calculus book - early Transcendentals Single Variable (8th Edition) for $30. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested. I be more then happy to meet you at Harper and we trade. :) Cheers!
Sure Prof. Durian is a nice guy and he makes the material easy to understand and learn but when you get the homework, the problems are rediculously hard and when you ask questions in class its barely of help. I would suggest the math tutor or else you'll be struggling to get an A on most of the homework worksheets.
He is a very cool teacher with excellent patience to help the whole class.
Best teacher ever. I did not find better than him.He made me love Math.Thnak you Durian:))))
Took Durian for Calc 1. Pretty funny guy. used like 5 different color markers on problems on the board. make it really easy to tell what he was doing. great at giving examples that apply to homework and tests. wish he was teaching calc 2 next semester. easy guy to talk to and ask questions.
this guy is cool. hes funny. he uses real life examples and makes things easy ton understand on the board so you can follow what hes doing. hes always equipped with his markers :] good teacher overall.
Good guy, tries to make the class fun and overall he is pretty good at making sure his students know the material. He won't really discuss the ideas behind the math much and he does keep things very simple. He barely uses the book, overall the easiest Math teacher I've take thus far. Take his class you won't regret it just know he's always late.
cool teacher took him in summer he will make the class real intresting also makes the class real ez u will want him as a teacher
Great teacher. Makes Calc 1 very easy to understand, funny as hell, fair grader, pretty straightforward, gives extensions on HW and pushes back tests every once in a while. I took him twice and enjoyed the class both times. If you need help, he'll stay after class. Attendance is NOT mandatory and he's almost always late haha.
Overall, great teacher. He knows how to explain concepts in the simplest way. Lecture really helps and he will sometimes do problems that help with the hw. He is late almost everyday by at least 15mins but doesn't test you on material that he doesn't cover.
This guy is amazing he may seem like a hard ass cuz he is the football coach but this man is truly a mathematician he is one if not the most nicest professors here, and he is really helpful, sometimes hes not good at responding to e-mails, but overall amazing. Hes a great guy and an amazing professor. He actually teaches and we learn.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. His explanation of concepts is clear and simple. Tests are fair. ALWAYS late to class (15-30 min), rarely responsive to emails - but his excellent approach in the classroom more than makes up for it. He's funny as hell and always checking to make sure the class was following the lecture.
Great teacher, it was a pleasure to be in his class. Just attend class, do the homework and all tests are based on that. Take him, you won't feel sorry!
Great teacher, it was a pleasure to be in his class. Just attend class, do the homework and all tests are based on that. Take him, you won't feel sorry!
I liked mr durian. He speaks very loudly & clear so u'll pay attention. Not an easy class bt he went through examples. Doesn't give e.c. Bt let's u use notes in exams. U have 2 do hw. He was always 15 min late 2 class since he is a coach @ Harper
amazing teacher! hes so helpful and is always willing to go over information until you understand. comes late to class almost every day but is able to laugh at himself for it. for such a hottie its pretty funny the amount of colors he uses on the board. Take his class!
Awsome...Frickin Hilarious. Really enjoyed his class. Teaches very well and has a real edgy sense of humor. Learned a lot.
He is a great professor but he is always really late to class. Not one day hes on time..
He explains the material well and will answer any questions until you understand it. Homework and tests are kind of hard. My only problem with him is that he is ALWAYS late. Usually 15 min and often he has been 20-30 min late for a 50 min class. Not fun waiting at 8am when I could be sleeping! Good teacher compared to others teaching this class.
Harper should charge 1/4th the going rate for his class, because you only get 1/4 the value. He is always late, never answers emails on time, holds no office hours (he posts them, but is never there), rarely gets homework/solutions back in time (I have taken tests without ever getting a single assignment back). If you want to learn calc, avoid him
Best Calculus teacher at Harper.
Great teacher, but is always late.. highly recommended if you want to understand calc 2
First day: seems energetic and will get me going so early in the morning! Excited to have him as my teacher this semester
Too easy. Doesn't teach you all the required material. If you need to go into higher math, don't take him. You learn nothing. Easy A. I regret taking him.
Prof.D. is very nice, and explains everything very well, but he is always late, cancels the class often, and falls behind in grading homework! Whenever he says that he will have your stuff graded on a certain day you can be sure he will not! He is full of excuses! However he explains the material clearly and makes it easy to understand.
He's overall a good teacher, explains things well and will nicely help you outside of class but do yourself a favour by try avoiding taking his 8am classes AT ALL COSTS. He's always at least 12 mins late, cancels classes 7x a semester and doesn't have things graded on time, not a man of his word. He makes things seem easy but his test&hw are tough
BEST teacher ever ... his class is easy if you do the homework...all the exercises that he gives for homework are in the test but easier. cool teacher!!!!!
Horrible Professor. Had him over the summer and he was ALWAYS LATE. Like 15-30 min late. Explained lessons very thoroughly though and gave easy examples but tests and homework assignments were much more difficult and often did not cover what we learned in class. Does not curve. Does not respond to emails or phone calls. Was late for final exam.
Teacher was always late always which was good and actually cancled class 6 times in the course, which was also very good . But he always explains his material and i really liked him
HE IS ONE OF THE BEST TEACHER EVER, EASY TEST AND ESAY A
HE IS SO LAZY!!!!!!!!!!!
LAZY AS CAN BE DIDNT UPDATE FINAL GRADES. DOES NOT ROUND, WILL NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS.
Loved his class. Explains everything very well. Very funny and approachable. Always there to help you in office hours. Will not give you anything. You must earn it.
If you have any once of Calc knowledge, do not take his class. He grades homework stricter than tests and amends the directions to his provided homework during class but only says it once and thats it. He expects work on homework that looks like it's copied from the board. Hard for a student who has to take it again.
I Love Mr Durian. Only think is that he is a tough grader. I took him him in the Summer and I had to work for my B. However I do not think I could have gotten a B without him. Other thing is that is is very hard to sign up for his class. He is one of the most popular teachers in the school
If you want to see the board, stay on the right side of the room.
Geoffrey Durian is a solid professor. His homework is harder than the test, so if you study hard and learn from your mistakes on the homework, the tests should not be too difficult for you. He lectures clearly, answer questions, and replies to emails. He is often about 5 minutes late for class, but never super late. Take him if you have the chance.
His lectures are very interesting, and he gives clear examples. Homework is hard, but if you do them exams are going to be easy. Doesn't give extra credits but round up grades.
Wolf is definitely an easy teacher so if your trying to pass then your in the clear. Although, Wolf is impatient with students and can come off very rude. When Paul explains the material its confusing at times. I personally didn't like him as a teacher or as a person.
HOMEWORK is completely different from what we do in class. Gives you easy problems in class and he gives hardest problems on homework.
Funny teacher. His excuses for not gradong homework are halirious. Please take him! Champ and a half!
Really like the class. Very organized and funny lectures.
Mr. Durian's teaching style is very easy to follow, and class is very enjoyable. Homework, however is tough and will take you a while. Tests are about 1 level of difficulty down from the homework. Show up to class, do your homework, and you will succeed.
Great teacher! Homework is difficult but will prepare you for the test. Take him if you can!
I was so scared to take calculus, but after taking it with professor Durian I can honestly say that he made calculus simple. Calculus will never be an easy class, but Durian's lectures are very clear and to the point. He did miss a lot of days and he did mess up a lot of the problems in class. Pay attention, and you will do great! No book needed!
Tough grader on hw. tests are easy as long as ur very familiar with the hw and know what ur doing. Maybe its because that the average grades in chapter tests r too high so it made him give us hard problems on the final exam. I was so nervous after taking the final, it was way harder than his normal tests! lectures r clear, great teacher.
He is a wonderful professor. His classes always fill up fast because he is that good. Durian will teach you everything you need to know about Calc I and you will like it. Although he doesn't take attendance, he knows when you are missing and you wanna be in class to learn all his material. Homework is very tough but tests are a bit easier Goodluck
He's pretty chill. Football coach teaching calc, about what you'd expect; fun and over explained
While your are taking test, he might be sleeping (even snoring) which kind of bothers sometimes
Loved Mr Durian's class this summer. I suck at math but he made calculus easy and interesting. I fialed this course at my regular school. Wish we have more professors like MR Durian at my school
Previously having to drop this class because I was nearly failing with another professor, Im glad I retook it with Mr. Durian. His explanations are clear to the point. He does make a lot of mistakes here and there, but if you pay close attention its no big deal. Honestly, he's the best Calc teacher at Harper, highly recommend.
Took Mr Durian over the summer and I must say, it was the easiest calc class ever! He gave us no homework, which made the class less stressful. He did, however, provided us with packets to study at home and some of those problems were similar to those in the exams. Overall, he made the class fun, enjoyable, and stress-free. I passed with A !
Explains very well. Also very funny
5 Chapter Tests - 50% 12 homeworks - 25% Final - 25%
Best math teacher I've ever had. Very clear lectures, great color coded whiteboard examples. He makes a difficult class simple.
He makes everything easy and clear. This class is not too difficult to get an A. Just show up and take notes. You don't need to buy a textbook or any codes. The best thing I liked was he put every grades on online, so you can know where you are. Highly recommend him!
Good personality. Very knowledgeable and knows the material like the back of his hand. He uses real world experience (His personal and work) to help teach the material. Very enthusiastic about what he teaches. Take him, you will start to think things differently.
He's unapproachable and never in his office during office hours. I have spent the whole semester getting help from the tutoring center since when I asked him questions he told me I should know how to do it. He gives a packet of homework every week and his tests are long for the amount of time we have to take them. Uses same examples over and over.
Durian is the man. While the class content is not very easy he is very good at explaining the material. Some people think he is unapproachable but half the time Durian just jokes ariund. He uses many different color markers to make things more clear. Homework is more difficult than the tests which is helpful. Great professor for a hard class
I had him for an online class this past semester and in my opinion he has been very lenient with missing test and quizzes. A few times he has let me go back in to do make ups. Easily approachable through email. All in all he's a nice guy who cares about his students who are willing to put in the effort. I would take one of his classes again!
Take someone else. I'm an honors student and even I could not stand him. The entire left side of the classroom could not see the board as he wrote stuff. Once he finally moved enough so we can see, he erased it. Very anal grader. Half the class cheats because he never changes the tests/homework from previous years. Very intimidating teacher.
The best calculus professor in harper. I took his class in fall'16 and spring'17 for calc1 and calc2. had a great experience. he makes calculus easy and more understandable. i would've taken him for calc3 but unfortunately he is not teaching calc3. Take him.
He is a really good teacher, the only thing I didn't like was that we never actually went over the homework assignments, he would just move on after giving them back.
Clear and color coded lectures which I found very helpful. Homework is hard and takes a lot of time. But his grading is a joke, he is not tolerant and cuts off points for every little mistake (saw him cutting points from not starting with an equal sign) Make sure you double check your work and show every step.
His lectures are super clear because he uses a billion different color markers on the board. Homework will take you a long time because it's very difficult. He's super picky about grading the homework and will take points off for every tiny mistake. This makes tests a breeze, though. You'll never have a test q like some of the super hard hw q's
The best teacher you will ever have
I took Mr. Durian's online course & although I didn't have much interaction with him (all coursework was done on a third-party module), I did like that I could work at my own pace, could view problem solution examples, & had unlimited attempts at homework in order to always earn a perfect score. It's impossible to fail Mr. Durian's online course.
Free Online book never need it, homeworks are hard but test are easy. Great teach goes over slowly. I didn't take math for 5 years and jumped right into calc 1 and got an A make sure you do alittle math everyday. Don't make any small mistakes will doc points but always gives you some credit. Great guy.
Great guy. Make sure you pay attention in class. Homeworks are hard;however, tests are easy.
Ive had Durian for calc 1 and 2 and both classes have been great. Probably one of the best calc professors at Harper! Notes are thorough, but homework is much harder, so you really gotta put in work- BUT this makes tests seem easier! He explains things really well and at a decent pace. Also a funny guy and quite reasonable. TAKE HIS CLASS
Be prepared to spend over 3-4 hours on each assignment and still struggle to understand the material. He does not know how to run an online course and assigns homework that is only minimally helpful for quizzes and tests. He's even acknowledged himself he doesn't give enough time on tests. Oh, and the final is cumulative and no notes are allowed.
Really good teacher who would give clear explanations to complex issues. Responded quickly.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Each sections has a total of 60+ questions. totals about 200+ math problems a week. on top of a 40 question quiz and 80 question test per week. If you have an A in the class but fail the final you fail the final you fail the class. Would not recommend taking this teacher.
Awesome teacher! Hard to get into his class
DO ANYTHING you can to NOT take this professor. I have never taken a class so difficult and demanding in my life (online college algebra class). I spend 40+ hours a week on the 200+ HW problems/quizzes/tests and was nowhere close to being successful and he refuses to respond to my emails pleading for help. I had to drop his class TWICE. Do not take
Way too independent. He leaves you on your own and doesn't reach out to you. Asked him questions and he STILL has NOT responded. I had to drop his class. Listen to these reviews and DO NOT TAKE HIM. Guess it doesn't matter, he still gets his paycheck. Definitely, not a class you want, even as a self learner myself, there is no support on his end.
I love durian. Im going to take him next year for calc. He is so prepared compared to other professors and actually cares about doing his job well.
This class is extremely hard. Only take Durian if you CAN put in 2-3 daily hours into calculus. This class is not for you if: you work, are taking other hard classes, have other responsibilities. He does give you many opportunities to make mistakes, but then soils any chances of excelling by grading everything extremely rigorously.
Mr Durian helped me out a ton with this on-line class. Answered everyone of my emails and met with me during office hours. Really cool guy
I took Durian for MTH103 & calc. He is a great teacher & his teaching style is very easy to understand. He cares a lot about his students & relates calc to science. The homework is harder than the tests & prepares you very well. He is very organized & if you need help he is always willing. Easily one of the best at Harper!100% recommend hes a blast
Dont take his online class! Its one of the most time consuming classes I have ever taken. I spent over 40 hours a week trying to keep up with the assignment each unit is around 400 problems plus you have to take a quizzes which take hours to do. He gives you a schedule to follow so you dont get behind it barely helps since everything takes long.
Best Calculus Teacher at Harper
Professor Durian is clear at everything. His notes are really fun to take. As long as you keep up with homework, you will do great on tests.
Great Teacher, Lots of HW, but if u do them you will be good to go for the test
Durian is amazing. This is my third semester with him and he has made me fall in love with math again. He explains things well and if you miss class AND THEN GO IN FOR OFFICE HOURS TO CATCH UP he respects you and will do everything he can to help you succeed. Mind you, if you dont put in the effort to do so, thats on you ( _ )
I loved Mr Durian. Too bad we had to go on-line halfway through the semester due to COVID 19. I loved his lectures and going to his office for help. He really tried hard to duplicate that same thing on line and was available on-line for help.
Mr Durian was great this summer. I had to take the course on-line and we was so accessible. I could meet with him everyday on BLACKBOARD zoom. He really cares about his students and enjoyed being in the on-line study groups each day.
This class was harder than I was expecting. I've taken a few math classes and often times the professor would definitely takes questions out of the e-homework. He leaves ALL 50+ questions in the homework. His midterms and finals are absurd to. He uses the more obscure niche questions.
Took Math134 in the summer online. First off, ANY Math class in the summer is going to require a ton of work- so be prepared. That being said, there is a lot of homework but it prepares you well for the test. Tests took me about 4 hours to do (paper tests) but class was totally online, so you could review material. Work hard and youll get an A.
Homework is 25% of the grade and tends to be tough, but there's usually only 1 worksheet per week. The tests tend to be easier than the HW. If you keep up with assignments, you'll have no problem doing well on tests. Grading never felt unfair. There were no online lectures, but he was accessible by email. Would definitely recommend for Calc II.
Great teacher for this class. Very clear on what needs to be down and very accessible if you need extra help. I would recommend to take the class in person though.
get ready to sit on connect math for 6 hours a day everyday because I had more help from the explanations on there than him the one thing I will say is he does grade the tests in the students favor like if a good amount of your work is correct then you will get like 3/5 or 4/5
Professor Durian is a well respected professor. He hosts one on one meetings for those who have trouble with assignments, he has a simple clear grading criteria, complete assignments to pass. The only problem with him is that there is a lot of assignments in his classes so I wouldn't recommend to taking him with a loaded schedule.
Professor Durian was fine for college algebra, which I took this summer online. An online summer course especially for math is going to be a lot of work, but it's over pretty quick which makes it worth it. It's all on ConnectMath, except tests which are printed out He responded to emails pretty quick and was willing to help with any questions I had
Class is set up very well. On-line but requires a lot of work. Homework is hard but makes taking the tests easier
Be prepared to do homework. Very organized!
Professor Durian is a good teacher. He gives a lot of homework, but it's worth it for the tests. His class is very organized and clear.
I took Professor Durian's asynchronous business calc class, and it was pretty simple, but not that easy. Honestly, I didn't look at a single lecture he posted and ended up learning everything on my own through the Pearson website. For somebody who's never taken calc before, this class may be a bit difficult for you, but otherwise it wasn't bad!!
Other than the amount of homework that I had in the class Mr.Durian was chill. If you ever needed help with anything he was usually available by email or zoom. His pretests are very similar to his actual tests so DO THEM. Definitely would take again.
A great professor who if you don't know something, he's willing to take extra time one-on-one to explain the concept. He's homework heavy but if you keep ontop of the assignments you have a good chance of getting an easy A.
I'm really bad at math and had to take a summer course with Mr.D. I'm happy I chose this teacher because he created a very easy to follow class. The class was very well organized online and the grading was also weighted well so it wasn't the end of the world if you missed a quiz or hw assignment. I'm taking another class with Mr.D this fall.
Mr.Durian breaks down his lessons so they're easy to follow, however there are times when the lessons feel slow paced. He has plenty of time dedicated to office hours and can meet up with students outside of those hours if you make appointments. He allowed an extension on a quiz I wasn't going to finish by the due date. Overall I'd take him again.
Math is a nightmare for me, but this class is manageable once you've processed that you have to spend a couple of hours a day doing homework. Since I took this online, I could start future assignments ahead of time which I really liked. Durian also communicates well, but some assignments are going to have to be printed and later scanned.
Professor Durian is a great CALC II professor, he made this class easy to take. In case you're wondering, there are 19 Homework Projects, a bunch of XYZ online homework assignments, three exams, and a final. This may sound like a lot for a 16-week course, but is pretty straightforward. Don't hesitate to take him! It's worth the time and money.
explains things thoroughly and does lots of examples during class. homework and notes really help you prep for tests. his jokes are the bad-funny kind. he's nice but sometimes sounds condescending when answering questions. homework can be kind of time-consuming but it's good practice, especially since it tends to be harder than the tests.
Prof. Durian is good! He makes you work for your grade. He offers XYZ homework, homework projects, 4 chapter tests, and final. He'll replace your worst chapter test grade if you score higher on final. Lectures weren't too bad. Some stuff might not be discussed in lecture, but you'll be fine. Overall, a fair professor and you'll understand content.
cool teacher, kinda funny sometimes. lectures and blackboard are organized, material is explained in a way that is fairly easy to understand. very helpful during office hours. lots of hw but it's good practice. only major complaint is that he tends to make a lot of mistakes during class and sometimes takes a lot of points off for silly mistakes.
Professor Durian's MTH201 class is challenging but fair. The workload is manageable with a mix of XYZ homework, projects, and exams. Lectures are organized, and he's helpful during office hours. unstuck AI proved a valuable study tool alongside the free textbook.
Great teacher, very straightforward, and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. The homework he provides is helpful in preparing for exams. He is usually available outside of class, very helpful during office hours.
Really good guy who is easy to talk to. Very funny
An abundance of homework
Took the summer class for calc 1 and it was pretty good. The professor gives a lot of homework so get ready to work. The homework is harder than the actual test.
I had him for my summer class for calc 1 and he was nice. I enjoyed his lecture videos and it was somewhat simple to follow. THE TESTS MATTER. Study before taking the test it will save your life.
Be prepared to lose points over the dumbest things you could think of. Tests are the most tedious 3 hours you will have to sit through 5 times over the semester. At least the tests are just homework problems with different numbers. The free response portion will take 5x as much time as the multiple choice yet they are weighted the same.
as someone who got 5 on ap calc bc and A+ in calc 3 in hs, i can say his calc 1 online class is harder than both of those just from how strictly he grades
Horrible teacher, do not take online. Half the lectures are not auxiliary to the notes he gives so he just makes you teach yourself and watch some random youtube video.
Professor Durian is a perfect professor for math in general I would 100% recommend! His grading system is on the heavier side for the homework's and unit test. but he is a very fun and helpful professor in and out of class.
Lecture videos are 180px64p, its so blurry you cant see, hear, or understand anything. You can also email him, but he avoids every question. You can email him about math and he will respond with, "try harder." "Did you see my lecture?" "Did you try solving the question?" Its like he rolls a dice and response based on where it lands.
I really enjoyed his class. I am not great at math in general but he really makes concepts very simple.
