This class was a great introductory to sociology. It helped students open up honest conversations about perspective, and encouraged new ways at looking at society differently. The tests and essays were challenging, but if you attend class and study there should be no problem! Geoffe's energetic approach to teaching helps students share and learn.

Geoffrey is an EXCELLENT instructor. As a student returning back to college, I was so impressed with his clear, thorough, and entertaining lectures. His slides are extremely helpful for exams, and he genuinely cares about making sure students succeed. Was always available for office hours for meetings. I would take him again if I were a SOC major.

He is ethusiastict with teaching. He is also very charming and funny, making the class way less boring than I thought. He genuinly cares about how to help his students to be succeed.

Definitely the best teacher in NSCC. Very helpful and responsive in emails. He is energetic and makes the class way fun. What/How he teaches is really interesting. The exams are not simple but if you attend his classes regularly and review sessions, you will do pretty well and powerpoint slides are uploaded everyday. I'd definitely take him again.

BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER.

He's SUPER enthusiastic and willing to help you when you have questions in or after class. He uses clickers in class to take attendance and has extras sometimes if some people hadn't already borrowed one for the day. You should be able to get a really good grade if you pay attention to what he's saying in class or do the readings.

He's very entertaining so you'll stay awake. Read what he tells you to read because you will get daily "quizzes". You're sure to get a good grade as long as you follow his instructions. It won't matter where you sit in class- he will have at least 3 chats with you throughout the quarter and will make you feel appreciated.

He is very helpful and approachable in class, office hours and even through email. You learn so much in just 50 mins of class. This was my second time taking his class (SOC215 is the very first Criminology course taught at NSC!) so it was an interesting first. Some of the readings were from SOC101 which was a bit repetitive but he still made sure everyone was taught the material. Very energetic and fun, making learning easy but tests were on the harder side!

I LOVED Geoff! He was really fantastic and made a lasting impression which can be hard when taking online classes. He was really great, gave me lots of opportunities for extra credit for things as little as pointing out broken links. I didn't like sociology itself but Geoff made it engaging. He's very fair and a great instructor.

His lecture was really interesting and fun. I have to say the exams were the hardest I've ever had in college so far but it's doable. Definitely need to spend extra times for preparing.

Literally the single best teacher or professor I have ever had in any subject. Lectures are super detailed and pretty long but he makes them engaging because he cares SO much about the subject material. The tests are hard and the papers are demanding but he's super helpful with feedback and he dedicates at least two days in-class to review material

3 years later and I still vividly remember how amazing Palmer's lecture's were. He is the most engaging, caring and passionate professor I've ever had. I have moved on from NSC and am about to enter my final quarter at UW, and I still have not had a professor that I enjoyed more than Geoff. Do yourselves a favor and take this class.

Geoff is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. Ever. I have never felt more genuinely respected and cared about by a teacher before. He makes a point to greet each person at the beginning of class everyday. He CARES about what he teaches, and the people he's teaching it to.

I'm still not done with this course, but it has got to be the most engaging online class I have taken yet! Professor Palmer is extremely passionate about sociology. Even though I have never met him and just contacted him through email, I feel like he cares about my learning. You do have to study for the exams, but the coursework is manageable.

Proffessor Palmer is an amazing educator, I am still in the process of taking his course, but he definitely makes learning fun. I was a little hesitant with the workload, but as long as you pace yourself and time manage you should be good!

I was becoming so unmotivated to continue my education and then I took one of Geoff's classes as an elective and loved it so much I took another the following quarter for an elective!

Geoffrey is so far the best teacher I've had at north. He loves his class and students if you are someone who is thinking about taking this class even if you have no interest in it please take it. Every day is a new fun lecture that perfectly explains the concepts. I love this class and this teacher and I engorge more people to take this class.

all the classes are lectures and there are readings and videos for group activities or in class, aside from the reading and the three depth of knowledge tests, with multiple choice and short answer all work is done in class, expect about 1-2 textbook chapters and 1-2 short essays to read before class every 3~ weeks. also he's really sweet.

this class is mostly lectures, but also expect 1~ chapter of textbook and 1~ short reading every 2~ weeks. those will be gone over in a group or part of the depth of knowledge tests, which have multiple choice and short answer questions. in my class we also wrote out labs. he is a really great teacher super fun to be around and know

Geoff was a very fun instructor to have. Despite being online, his lectures were still engaging and helpful in breaking down course materials. Geoff is also very communicative with students, both with assignment feedback and through email. Just make sure to keep up with course work or you might take a big hit on your grade.

I 100% recommend Geoffrey. The structure and material of the course is well made, thought of, and accessible. Geoffrey likes what he teaches and ultimately wants to help you succeed as a student (and person). This course does require participation and work but even if this is difficult for some, I believe that Geoffrey makes it easy and enjoyable.

I've taken SOC 101 and 215 with Geoff, only taking 215 because of how incredible of a teacher he is. His expectations are very reasonable, especially balanced with the amount of help, care, and attention he gives students. He is an amazing person to connect with even outside of the classroom, and how much he cares about his work is very evident.

Professor Palmer genuinely cares about his students and is willing to help them them understand the topic. He is passionate about sociology and has great energy. Watch out for DOKOs. They are extremely hard and requires a lot of studying. Expect a low grade on the 1st one. Don't freak out over a bad grade on the 1st Doko. He allows 1 retake/quarter

Honestly wasn't interested in the subject but Geoffrey is amazing person and great teacher. Would strongly recomend.

Geoff is really good at connecting with students and really understood my integrity as a student even through my weaknesses. I've been stuck on assignments but have been able to work on them together with him and it was really helpful to be supported and respected from someone who isn't required to do so.
