Very easy or very fun, depends on the student. The learning experience is what you make of it. He has a loose struture, at least for Group discussion, which means you'll get to do lots of learning by experience. Or you can not learn at all, it's really up to the student.

You will learn if you take this class, and not even know it. He seems a little unclear sometimes, but he does it on purpose; wants you to figure it out yourself. I definately recommend this class.

A very fair teacher. He's a great teacher, and he loves his job. His midterm is easy and overall class is easy. Yes, he does talk alot and looks like Santa. He motivates students and makes us think for ourself. He assigns no homework, just 4 speeches. Class is fun and u meet a lot of people.

Makes students feel comfortable when they are doing their speech

Goes on tagents, hard to keep focus when it seems that he just talks about everything but the subject. He is very intellegent and great if you want more of an abstract class.

The class is pretty easy. He gives good advice to those who feel uncomfortable speaking in front of others. He does go off on crazy tangents, but I think it is just because he loves to hear himself talk.

This guy is great. He understands interpersonal relationships and the communication required very well. Brilliant teacher. Hes friendly,approachable like a big teddy bear! This will be your easiest class, just listen to what he has to say and work at doing your speeches, no matter how scared you are

he has the best disposition and his teaching style flows so well that sometimes you forget what time it is and become really late to your next class.

Very unconventional, creative way of teaching a class. I learned a lot (although maybe not necessarily about speaking formally). Lots of communication between classmates and between class and professor in this class. Entire class gets to know each other pretty well. We never did open up our books, haha!

His class is not easy, but the way he teaches and expects us to do work is cool. He makes it very helpful. If you won't do your work, you will fail. He gives you a lot of time to do an assigment which is very helpful. He makes things easy although they are not. I would refer him to anybody. He is COOL

overall i like hime but sometimes he go on my nerves when he would do most of of talking instead of the students. there were times when we would be scheduled to gives speeches and he spent the majority of the class talking about himsef can probably miss a class a week and still get an easy B.

Easy class, easy A. Only problem was a group paper. Make sure to pick your group well. There is a lot of work involved and don't let it get stuck all on you like what happened to me. :(

I feel that he is one of the best professors in public speaking. He is very smart and easy going to the students. Also he is very helpful in responding to the students questions.

His a very interesting guy. He doesn't really have strict rules, but hey, don't be missing his class often. He's pretty much open-minded, and understand you well. He's grading is easy. I recommend this class to anyone.

you can basically fail the midterm and still get an A. he grades pretty easily and you have a lot of room to make mistakes. i highly reccomend this class to anyone. he has interesting stories and gets the class involved.

Awesome teacher! This was the best comm class I've taken. No lectures and no notes--it was like a discussion group. The students really get to know each other and the prof. Very intelligent man. He does NOT penalize students for political views, but if you state something as fact you'd better be able to back it up.

well this teacher is very easy...all you have to do is say how you feel in three super easy reaction papers that take a second to write, one mid term one final, go to class every time talk and go.....you just have to have patients for his ambiguity. He tells a lot of stories but they all have relevence to just hang on!

This tecaher is exceptional. I walked away from the class fuller as a person rather then just blurting out a few speeches and moving on with life. In-class debates and discussions are amazing and remind me of why I'm in college. Class is on easy side but don't think you can get away with being unprepared. Best teacher I've had thus far.

A great class and this teacher is amazingly brilliant. To the untrained eye (or student) the class seems a little chaotic. He doesn't structure the class like every other boring class you've taken. It's an amazing opportunity to grow as a person and expand your knowledge. If you struggle at first meet with him one on one and just talk with him.

Enabling one to learn from themselves and their peers is much more valuable than copying it from a book or taking repetitive notes. Can it be done? Try a class with Stockdale, it's the best chance you have to survive in this crazy world. But be prepared to support anything you have to offer ;)......the student has become the teacher!!

This teacher is the bomb! he's more of a hands on practice rather than memorizing the whole book! we still had to read the whole book, as he suggested, primary expectation is for you to know how to work in and as a group, so if you got that, you'll pass!!! he's simply just great!

at first i thought this class was a joke! he rambles on about himself like no other, but by the end of the semester i realized that i actually learned a lot. his teaching skills are different, but really come in handy!

Not only the best teacher, hailing from a poetic background and a family of feuding, he is an extremely well educated man, trustworthy, and above this normal teacher crap. Easily the most brilliant professor I've ever had. The way he taught his class is unorthodox, but I felt I walked out of that room knowing exactly what he wanted me to know without a single traditional lecture. He encourages everyone to participate, even those who don't normally speak up, and the only prof. that has succeeded in that respect.

Stockdale is a great teacher. You don't have to show up to class b/c he doesn't take role. Barely use the book and you just have 1 research paper(which you do w/ your group), a mid-term, a final, and 2 reaction papers. He's very nice and has some crazy stories! Easy A!!!!

Very laid back, relatively friendly. I wouldn't say it's that hard to get a good grade as long as you participate and show him you're doing so. Only criticism is that he completely lacks structure. No due dates, hardly any tests...students never knew how to gadge their grade.

My father passed away suddenly at the age of 59 half way through the semester. I lost a lot of classtime and missed a couple of tests...Professor Stockdale is a human and he was wonderful when he helped me through the class. I thought I would fail, yet he assured me that I would do fine if I put my mind to it. Thanks Professor Stockdale!

This class is designed to help you learn to create the structure, hence the perceived lack of it. It's a very different experience, one that all college students should be required to experience. He doesn't really care about how you say/write things, but what you bring, your thoughts/opinions/etc.

HE IS THE BOMB! You dont really have to attend class that much. Just enough to know when you should start working on your next speech. If you got a class buddy just get the info from that person and just come when you need to do your speech. THIS IS THE EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. Just be natural and you will get an A. I DID!

Easy class. No work or effort needed. Don't buy the book or read it, waste of time and money. No attendance, so you can skip most of the time. Just ask classmates when the next speeches are. BS your speech and pass. If you want a A then go to class, participate, and be friend him. Prof has interesting topics and insights, very brilliant man.

Stockdale scared me on the first day of class.. I even thought about dropping. But I'm so glad I didn't drop afterall because he's one of the best professors I've had. A rare experience; mind expanding, sometimes less than believable. Geoffery will challenge your thinking and push your buttons. If you let him, he will open you up to being "real". Another student said it best by saying, "It's what you bring, not how you bring it." Take the adventure, take his class. BTW he really does think he is a genius. :)

This guy is incredibly funny. Makes public speaking a blast! You can even eat in class if you want to! Very generous in grading. Almost a guaranteed "A"! Says he hates giving out any other grade. Classes are always fun to attend, although attendance isn't mandatory. Class is very involved, but only if you want to join in the fun & conversation.

Best teacher at ARC. No BS, keeps you enganged and full of knowledge about life and how to approach it. He teaches through personal experiences and does it with humor. Pay close attention and you will succeed.

There were a lot of paper to write, but it was a very fun class. I love this class and his teaching method. Its basically self-taught class. You learn from working with your group; and the study guide straight from the text. He's very nice and funny. I learned a lot just from his sotries; you gotta listen with an open mind & learn from them.

i didnt really enjoy this class mainly because my class timing was random and in the middle of the day but overall this was an easy class, it was more like a hangout you do 5 easy speechs and the midterm which is a written test.

A staunch believer in the Socratic method of teaching, Prof. Stockdale is one of the few who requires his students to think for themselves, to cultivate said thoughts, and then refine them into speeches, papers, or dialogs depending on the class. He will invest as much into you as you are willing to invest into yourself. This is an "A+" professor.

Prof Stockdale makes the classroom very comfortable, which is helpful for those of us who hate getting up to speak in front of people... Do your speeches early!!! He'll let you procrastinate and those who did regreted it. I enjoy the Prof as a person, and he is very knowledgable so know your facts before getting up. Fun class!

Don't think you can just sit and not participate, he's not that easy. His midterm required actual studying-OMG! But he tells you what you need to study. So if you show up to class, contribute to the discussion, do your speeches WELL, know current and past events, learn from his critiques, and aren't a moron, then an A is very easy to get.

If you have problems talking in groups this course will help you to open your walls. Geoffry keeps its real. I learned more in this class than I expected. Sometimes we would get off topic, however, the nature of conversation was rich and in depth. He is one of those teachers you will remember ten years from now.

Geoff is a really amazing person. At first I didn't like this class, but now I see what he was doing ...making us think for ourselves. This is a communication class and no one will talk Geoff does. He is straight forward and treats everyone like adults. There are only 4 speeches and he gets everyone to be friends, I love Geoff like he is family.

Stockdale is great. He's not too particular, mostly just wants you to "get real." He's pretty lenient with attendance and fair about deadlines. I would give the class a few weeks before dropping, if you're thinking about it. Got an A and had a nice potluck in the end. Planning to take group discussion with him as well.

I am so happy I took this class! I was TERRIFIED of public speaking, but he cured me. At first it seems like he's just running his mouth, but it will all make sense. He keeps an open dialog in the class which we all thought was great this summer, it really relaxes you. We had a blast, and I already want to take it again. Stockdale is the bomb baby!

great teacher, cancels a good 25% of classes; I never bought or even know what the book looks like, even though he says you need it, you really don't. interesting character, VERY superfluous and particular in the way he speaks. mostly group work, no presentations of any sort. the whole semester was a group paper; if u go to class, u get an A.

I didn't learn much about public speaking from Stockdale, but I have improved a lot. Instead I learned important things about myself and appreciating other people and their stories. Odd but great class. Stockdale is a good man.

I took Stockdale a few years ago. Still one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. Don't be fooled! He knows what he is doing. Giving a speech in this class is a breeze if you don't mess around! He is a wise man. I wish I could go back in time to take his class again. You will be happy always to have taken his class.
