Best class I've taken at SBCC.

Ms. armstrong's class was one of the best classes I have ever taken in college. Lots of open discussions, and she values your opinion. Be open with your thoughts. Definitely recommend her!!!

The class is very fun class. And Geordie is one of the best and helpful teacher of SBCC. If she has other class, I definitly take her class again. Her map quiz is also fun.

The class is based on three midterms and a paper. If you put in the effort you will be rewarded. Truly an excellent teacher - very bright, and attractive as well.

I LOVED this class. I was a freshman in High School and super nervous to take a city college class. Geordie made my whole experience fun and interesting. Her lectures were hilarious and super helpful for the final. The midterm was based on the books but they were easy to read. TAKE THIS CLASS. :]

I learned so much about the whole world in this class! This is the class that teaches you about all the bad stuff you hear about that is going on in the news, and possible outcomes and ways to fix it. Definitely take this class if you care about our planet. You don't need the text book, just go to class and take notes and you'll kill it!

I had no idea this class was going to be as interesting as it was. Its one of those courses that you learn from and take with you. Shes very understanding; gives all you need to know in her lectures; dont miss class; extra credit given. Not the easiest A because of essays in the midterms but she gives you everything you need to succeed!

had no idea geo would be interesting. she gives 5 mapquiz which are very easy as long as you can memorize. 2 midterms and a final(nultiplechoice+essayquestion) which are discussed in the class. and a critical analysis paper. alot of extra credit.

This class was definitely entertaining. Some lectures were more interesting than others but overall she did her best to keep us interested. She is passionate about her beliefs and incorporates them into her lectures. I like that she formed discussions throughout the lectures. She isnt the easiest grader but there is lots of extra credit which helps

Honestly the most amazing,influential, funny, wonderful professors I've ever had. I took her for summer and her tests were kind of hard but her class was so interesting and informative and she's such an unbelievable teacher! I highly recommend taking any class from her! You will actually learn something and look forward to going to class!

Awesome, take good notes and review throughly before tests. The tests were not easy but if you do the extra credit you can get an A. She even took us hiking twice for extra credit. Very nice person, very inspiring. One of my favorite professors ever.

Liked her first days, then hated her because she targets the smart alecs (though I got the majority of her questions right) but then grew to like her after seeing her passion for humanity and environmental change and then she finally opened up half way through, class was much more enjoyable. Overall a very enlightening and interesting class!

She's a very good teacher, passionate about the subject. Nevertheless it will be hard earning an A. Quizzes are extremely easy, Exams however were very difficult 40 multiple choice questions and 2 short essays. Only way to nail the essays is to repeat what she says on class, don't add your own views it won't work, you'll get 60-80% for that.

She is honeslty one of my favorite teachers. Her classes are very entertaining and if you don't mind her hippie bias, this is a great class. However, be warned, that her midterm and final are very hard and if you don't study and take good notes during her lectures, you'll be screwed.

Life is complex. Understanding the landscape we play our life out in is fundamental. Geordie takes us into a place beyond autism where everything is connected. Some may find that challenging but that's life. She is an excellent guide but like wilderness hiking you still have to do your own walking.

Attendance is not mandatory, but you will want to go. Geog 102 is by far the most interesting class at SBCC, and if you go to every class, there is no reason to ever need the main textbook. Best class ever.

I honestly believe everybody should take her Cultural Geography class. Beyond just the content being so fantastic and relevant- Geordie is super fun! Amazingly helpful if you approach her, although typically the content is very easy to grasp, and very interesting on top of that. She's extremely understanding, and it's impossible to offend her.

70% of your grade is off of 3 tests. 30% of your grade is off 4 map quizzes. Make sure you get 100% on all the map quizzes. Tests are pretty tough but she offers a lot of extra credit so do it all and it will save your grade. She's very funny and tries to make lectures as relatable as possible.

Geordie is one of the best profs at SBCC. This class was Geography of California and I was never bored in class. Super interesting and informative. Fair grader, lots of opportunities to get a good grade. Prof loves what she does and it shows. Lectures are really good and it is beneficial to go to every class. Study well and you should be fine.

She is a good teacher and knows what she is talking about but be prepared to spend A LOT of money on books. I took this class as an elective and was not aware that I was about to be spending 200$ on books. If your a geography major you have no choice but if you are thinking of talking this class for IGETC or for filling up units I wouldn't do it.

Astounding professor! Some reviews might say she goes off topic; those students were clearly not paying attention. Her "tangents" are meticulously intercorrelated with the meaning of the lecture. If you miss something, ask her! She is very accommodating. Every class is captivating, so I don't recommend skipping or coming late.

I love Geordie! Her tests were a little difficult because we didn't always go over everything we were tested on. However, she always answered last minute questions that always helped. She is really amazing though and SUPER inspiring, my life changed for the better after taking her class.

Funny, caring, and knowledgeable. Overall, I really enjoyed the class, and Geordie is great, BUT the material could definitely have been better. We spent about 5 minutes talking about arguably the most important subject in human geography (language) and over a week talking about sexuality/gender. Some topics felt forced due to their #trendiness.

Geordie is my favorite professor at SBCC, she is astonishing, inspirational and respectful. A variety of information from different perspectives has been provided in class so be ready for shocks and arguments. Although she seldom roll calls but going to classes is strongly recommended. Extra credits are offered to boost your grade so just do them.

With this being said, Geordie is by far one of the best and most competent professors I've had the privilege of taking. She's a real gem amongst the ES building. I took this class in the summer section 2 and it was supposed to be in person but since there is COVID it went online. She did not have any zoom meetings so everything was at your own pace. There are weekly quizzes based on the videos that you are supposed to watch that whole week. 100% recommend to do the extra credit, they are really easy to do.

I'm so happy I got the chance to take this class loved the lectures because the teacher made them understandable and not boring. The jokes she would mention while teaching made me laugh. The class was super easy and straightforward but if you want to do better do all the extra credit that is provided trust me it helps you.

Professor Armstrong is awesome! I took her class over the summer, so there was a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time. However, all of the lectures and videos she assigned were genuinely interesting and thought-provoking, and overall I found it to be one of the best classes I've taken at SBCC.

I took this class during summer 1 and it was very interesting. Geordie definitely knew what she was talking about and she made her lectures very interesting. There were a lot of videos to watch per week, but it was doable. Although this was an online class I can tell that Geordie cares a LOT about her students. She gives TONS of extra credit!

I took this course over summer online, there's a lot of material that has to be covered but is very doable! Besides the lecture videos, I found the supplemental videos and documentaries are super interesting and this class is nowhere near my major. As long as you pay attention to the videos you'll do just fine. Weekly extra credit is available.

Though there is txtbook, I never opened the shrink wrap and did fine. She was clear from the beginning of the class what the expectations were each week, allowed for planning ahead. The grade is based on few assignments but she offers extra credit every week. She is straight to the point on uncomfortable topics, makes it accessible and refreshing.

I loved this class and professor! There is so much incredible information and thought provoking content! I am a returning student after serving in the military and convalescing after an injury. I was scared to come back in the classroom, but she was so welcoming and helpful, gave me the confidence to keep going!

My favorite out of all the classes I've taken at SBCC. I've taken GEOG 101 and 102 with her because she is so amazing! Her subject material is so entertaining. She's extremely well travelled and is so interesting to learn from.If you're looking for a fun easy elective where you'll learn so much, this is the class to take.

Geordie is an incredibly hard working teacher and it shows. She goes against the teacher norms and teaches how she wants. Make sure you take advantage of the extra credit because you are only graded on tests and quizzes. Easy class if you show up to class and study. Get ready for some funny stories and raunchy jokes. I believe that she truly cares about her students and wants all of them to do well in her class. It was such a pleasure having her for an instructor.

Cares about students academically and personally. Tells funny stories that may seem irrelevant, but connect to course marital in a meaningful way. Tests are easy but structured to ensure you grok the material, and is very willing to answer questions inside and outside of class. Very passionate about her topics and her students!

Super interesting topics and I feel like I learned a lot! Tests are completely based on what she says you need to know at the beginning of the module, so take notes on that because tests are open note! Prof Armstrong is fun to listen to and I loved that the modules are in 2.5 week chunks so you can work wayy ahead. Great class!

I LOVED this class! Geordie is so knowledgable and clearly loves her job. Each section has a lot of videos to watch and then a discussion, quiz, and often a documentary+quiz for it. You have two weeks for each section, so plenty of time and she accepts late work with little markdown. I learned SO much from this class and recommend it 100%.

Took over summer. Watch ~20 TED/YouTube vids + her 1.5-2hr lecture vids + discussion post & quiz PER section/week. Some weeks, you had to watch a movie and take a quiz on it. Offered EC where you watch a specific movie/show and write an analysis about it that referenced the class material. Only graded by: discussion post, section quiz + movie quiz.
