He is an adjuct professor who has a passion for teaching and really makes the class interesting. I would highly recommend taking him if you want to enjoy this GE.
a nifty fellow
George was the best professor I ever had! The first time I took Philosophy, I got a D. When I had him, he explained everything and really got everyone to think. He was so easy to approach, we lucked out because he wasn't supposed to be our professor.
He really knows his stuff. I would tell people to take this course with him.
If you are a quiet student and you miss a test from being sick he doesnt care and will make you take it when HE WANTS TO GIVE IT!!

This professor is awesome, enthusiatic and is passionate about what he teaches. If you're lazy and don't want to use your brain - take something else! He's terrific and makes you THINK about your life.
He is very enthusiastic. The only thing that he expects from everyone is to open their minds. He also handles ignorant, disruptive students very well, in a quiet manner. I recommend taking him as long as you are willing to be open-minded.
good teacher and wants his students to really get the concept
He is a awesome teacher!! He really explains well.He also makes his tests clear if you do the reading. On one of my essays although I misunderstood the question he really gave me the benefit of the doubt and a good grade.Definatley recommend him!!
He is the worst teacher that I have ever had. He is rude and thinks that other people are distrubing his class when really its him making the big deal about it. He is rude towards students and doesn't do a good job explaining anything at all.
I dont know who is writing this stuff about the teacher, but you guys need to grow up!!! If you are going to say something bad about the teacher you should own up to what you say.The teacher does not date students!! He is a good teacher!!!
there's only 4 tests and no papers.if you study I garuntee that you'll get an 85 or above on the tests. he doesn't try to confuse his students and helps in any way he can. He explains things very well.and he's a nice guy.I'm not that smart and got a B+
Either you love him or loathe him. Personally, I loved him and cant wait to take another class of his. He knows his stuff, presents it in an enjoyable way, and is easy to reach when you need help. Take notes and do the work and you'll do fine.
He is an awesome teacher, and makes you open your mind to new concepts and ideas. Whoever thinks this guy is an A@#H*&e better think again. He is very clear in his lectures and well understood. I am going to miss this class.
besides being a great teacher...he is pleasant eye candy as well:)

Professor Abaunza is an excellent teacher. He knows his material and conveys it to you in such a way so that you understand it. He is enthusiastic and very insightful with all materials covered that you actually feel you got something out of his class.
he was alright. weird, but ok. his attitude it a bit off at times. he has his days.
He's a great teacher. He makes you think and open your mind. there's only 4 tests and are easy. hes a nice guy except when taking tests, he likes things to go just the way he wants.
Great Professor! He was very clear in his lectures, his tests are straight to the point, he usually stresses things that may be on a test! Great Person as well, very approachable, easy to talk to and as another mentioned... not that bad to look! :-)

He teaches Plato,Hume,Marx, and Sarte in intro class. I thought his class was really fun and interesting. Some thought he was difficult. He does make you take essay tests, but if you find it interesting, its not hard. If you hate philosophy, there are easier teachers to take. If not take Abaunza.
LOL @ 11/10/04 comment, take off the tin foil hat dood. Abaunza is good, we have some pretty interesting discussions in class. Plus, he's actually funny.
Had him 1 yr. ago. Great teacher, and cute. Stuff I learned about life here, still applying it today. Life is good and so is he. Just review and ask questions. Try to understand and participate in his class. He really, really helped me. I will always remember his as my best teacher

all i have to say is that he was very pleasant to the eye...i sat in the front a year ago and wouldn't miss a class. very smart, very helpful....very cute
What a HOTTIE! But - has absolutely no faith in his students-he's convinced everyone cheats and treats you like 3rd graders when you take a test (can only sit in every other row). Tough class. If you hate philosophy - he's very tough. Gives the appearance of being oh-so-cool but believe me - he'
first off, he's REALLY hot...hes an awesome guy but hes kind of a jerk as a teacher. he's very particular during class, ALWAYS keeps u up to or after full class time, etc. really easy to talk to outside of class, & pretty helpful, but if u hate phil/dont understand it this is NOT the guy for u
Cool guy, but we rushed thru this since it was a summer session. Its ALOT of reading but the tests are easy as long as you understand what the class discussions are about. Easy to talk to but expects you to take the class seriously and be prepared. Overall a very good teacher.
Class is easy. Just do some reading and some preparation for the tests. Better than most philosophy teachers. Pay attention in class here and there and you will do fine.
Abaunza does a good job presenting the material and he is passionate about his teaching. Why do you people keep saying hes hot? I find it odd.
I took it Summer 2 with him. He's a good professor and the material is presented well. Just do the readings and look over notes and you'll do fine
Hot!! but way too into the whole philosophy thing. Just pretty much repeat what he says in lecture on the test with a lil twist of personality and you'll ace 'em.
He was really into it and incredibly awesome. Although, he never let us out early, and it was a 7-9:40 class on Monday nights.
He was ok. Not hard to understand, just a weird guy. Way to into what he does which is good and bad. He tends to be opinionated. When you get to Tolsoy and Satre the class starts to make sense. He reminds me of Greg from Dharma & Greg which was annoying cos I hate that show....

He's very cute. He's also a very understanding person. He makes the class as interesting as he can. He tries to get us involved and makes us laugh. He's very sweet and a very good professor.
GREAT teacher! Very good looking, but besides that...knows his stuff! Not boring at all, and makes class fun to be in. Not a bird course, need to read and know your information and if you do, you're golden! I would recommend him for any class and any student willing to learn and do their part in class! GREAT TEACHER!!!!
an exellent professor.
class is interesting; if you want a different way to look at your life then take it. The teacher is very good and passionate about philosophy, which makes the whole process easier. Take him, he is really good...(and girls, also easy on the eyes)
Just an awesome professor, totally the reason I am now atheist...
VERY GOOD professor... he is helpful and really really student oriented. He not only teaches the class, but if you're interested in some other aspect of philosophy, he'll talk with you about that too! I'd definitely take him again, just wish he taught more at WPU.
He is a great teacher.. very helpful.. its not an easy class but he trys to make everyone understand as much as possible. If you have to take philosophy.. take him!
Class was very easy and at times the professor would just go off on tangents about Cuba or random books he's read. Pretty interesting class and he's not too bad to look at haha :)
Great, friendly professor who gets you interested in learning about the subject on an easy-to-understand level and has some fun stories. It's a very easy class if you have him, pay attention, and try to engage in discussion. He wants you to really learn and not memorize.

He's a great professor, sexy too =x he's real into philosophy and loves to talk. I personally adore him and I wish he taught more classes at willy p
If every you want to take a 2hrs and 45mins class and not fall asleep this is your guy. keeps sessions interesting. lessons in class keeps you well prepared for exams. Abaunza is definitely a winner. He is among my top 5 professors of all time.
He is a good teacher but he degrades god in his own philosophical ways. He is also full of himself.
Very interesting class but he keeps you there the WHOLE 2 Hours and 40 minutes and sometimes more....I would highly reccommend him...Also not bad to look at for 2 hours and 40 minutes =0)
i had failed this class with a different prof before and have no interest in philosophy what-so-ever, but Abaunza made it interesting and i actually learned. he's a GREAT professor, you should definitely try to take him.
I think that philosophy class is really boring but he makes it real interesting because of his jokes which is not bad at all.. Tests are based on hand-outs and discussions..but beware because he keeps his class for the whole 2 hours and 30min..however, not bad to stare at for 2hours :)
This guy is a GREAT teacher if you like the subject. Makes the subject interesting, he can answer ALL questions... Funny at times... The tests weren't TOO bad, you have to study.
He makes philosophy really easy and interesting! He also makes SURE everyone knows what he's talking about!!
goog professor, just be open to discussion
Abaunza is a great professor. Just turn off you cell phone and read the books.
I loved this class even though it was hard to stay focused because he looks so hot.
worst teacher i have ever had he is conceded and rude to his students and his test are impossible his mother should teach him ethics and manors towards other people...
Well, I have just started taking his class, and have had one class so far with him. The thing that I like about him is that he knows his material. Often times, esp. at WPU we are stuck with Profs. who aren't really into the subject and can't teach for the life of them. I didn't get arrogance from this prof; rather, passionate about his subject.
HE IS SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR. HE CAPTURES YOUR ATTENTION, AND MAKES US ENGAGE IN THE DISCUSSIONS. YOU MUST COME TO CLASS OR HE WILL EMBARASS YOU IN FRONT OF CLASS. HE IS FUNNY. MAKE YOU FORMULATE YOUR OWN OPINIONS. FOR A PHIL TEACHER,U CANT TELL IF HE BELIEVES IN GOD OR NOT. WHICH IS GREAT. HE MAKE YOU THINK FOR YOURSELF. READ THE BOOKS, STUDY.
He's helpful and very good. His test are extremely easy if you read the books. Most of the questions are give aways.
he is ok. he kind of puts down students a little at times. and he is totally against the use of cell phones.he doesnt really explain what to study for the exams. but kinda sucks that all your grade is based on is the exams. he is really into what he does though and knows his stuff

3. He has a tendency to call on the "skinny girls"; and avoids contact with the others. His exams aren't hard, you just have to read it carefully. I read half of each book and took extensive notes in class, and got an A- on the midterm. All-in-all, I thought he was a good teacher. He just needs to work on a few personality aspects.
he isnt "hot", he tends to be sarcastic at all times. you must show up to class to take notes. interesting class, but too much information you need to know. test are ok, just make sure you read the handouts. oh yea, DO NOT take out your cell phone in class, he will put you on the spot.
He's pretty funny. I mean yeah he does talk alot and forget where we stoped off, but he also makes pretty valed points bout life and comparringLife. 1 of the funniesst things that he said was when he was talking about this website and he made eyecontact wit one of the girls in da class, as if she made the comment on rmp---hehehe if he only knew---
he is the best professor I have ever had!!!! I actually look forward to going to his night class, because the class actually makes a conversation all together. he's very helpfull and will explain you anything you dont understand.I dont know why people say mean things about him all i see is a man who loves his job and we need more teachers like this
Pretty interesting.....however, some days were very boring....his tests aren't plain english! they are...philosophical!!!!!!! some books to read, some easy...some...very hard
You have a final, midterm, and a section of the midterm worth 20 percent of ur grade... attendence is 10 percent. I sit in fron all the time. Its not that he keeps u forever.. sometimes he lets u out early. We take the midterm tomorrow.. hopefully he does not word it oddly.
Abaunza was very knowledgeable in all areas of philosophy and he really loves what he does. But he has an arrogance about him that makes going to class painful.
I have him this semester - i think he is a great teacher. He is very passionate about his subject and i find that encourages the class to participate.
very passionate teacher. knows what he is talkin about. 1 paper 2 tests. doesn't give review you must ask questions. likes to talk alot, kinda boring if you don't do your reading. a bit sarcastic and absolutely no cell phones- he'll call you out! I'd recommend him.
great professor! you can tell he loves his field of work. extremely knowledgeable. funny guy, makes class fun. helpful in and out of class. if you go to class and read it is an easy class. 2 small essays and 2 tests. very personable and easy to converse with. class discussions are interesting. would love to take him again! highly recommended!
Prof George is the one of the coolest teachers EVER!!! I never missed a class becuz it was so interesting. Prof George is mega smart but really down to earth & alot of what we talk about really gets you thinking. The class discussions are amazing! Take him if you can!
DR.Abaunza is very passionate about phil. and also knows his stuff.i thought sitting in a 3hour fri night class is going to be a nightmare but i must admit i was wrong. He speaks and writes very well and kinda expects every1 to do the same. "Making Artists of Us All" is written by him i highly recommend it good stuff. luved his class, take him IT'S
Prof. Abaunza is great, cool and intelligent he loves teaching and he is not boring and very nice to all of us.I recommend him 100 %
guys awsome and halarious and reletivly simple to get an a in class hes very smart and enjoys teaching highly recomend just hates when people take their phone out cause he wants you to learn
awsome guy and class intrested in getting you to learn but doesnt make things hard keeps it simple and effective
This guy is passionate about what he does, he loves talking...after all he teaches Philosophy.....Just attend the class and you'll start taking note automatically cuz he makes it so interesting!! You just have be in the class doesn't matter if you're interacting in discussions or not....he teaches in a way that you wouldn't want miss any of his lec
I was not looking forward to taking philosophy until I took his class. He makes it interesting and fun. If you study the review sheets he gives out for each philosopher you will do well. I didn't miss a single class, and he's nice to look at too. ;) If you need to take philosophy, take it with him!
This guy is extremely nice. I was thinking that I won't mmake philosophy but the way he taught, made me see it as the easiest course so far!
Good teacher, makes a 3 hour class not that bad. Loves Philosophy and gets really into it which helps make it interesting. Tests arent bad if you take good notes during class. Midterm & Final, plus one short paper. Totally hates cell phones and will call you out.
Awesome class. Prof Abaunza tries to get the class involved as much as possible. Do the readings and you'll do just fine. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS OFF, NOT VIBRATE!LOL
he's an amazing professor. always keeps the class interesting, very funny and charismatic, and is completely realistic and fair. tries to get to know all his students. does not like lateness or cell phones going off at all. probably the best professor i've had since i've been here.
i love this guy he makes a 2 hour and 40 minute class a breeze. is hilarious.
Prof. Abaunza makes a rather complicated subject, very interesting throughout the entire 2 hrs and 40 min. I really like his energy and how he shows passion for teaching and Philosophy. He listens to your comments and questions. Just don?t be late And do not use your cell phone. I recommend his class 100%.
Funny, charismatic, helpful. Makes really tough comments really easy to comprehend. 2 reaction papers, and 2 tests. Reading is the homework, but I didn't do it and still got an A because he explains everything you read in class. Don't be late, don't use cell phone, and he doesn't let out early.
This professor is courageous. He is very passionate about philosophy and would not pass any point until he makes sure you get it. Everytime I get out of his class I rethink about my life and surroundings. Take his class and you will never forget it all your life.
A refutation to the grammatically-challenged comment below: Dr. Abaunza is passionate and is capable of breaking down complex, theoretical ideas into concepts even the most inept should understand. If one's grade is suffering in his class, it is due to lack of concentration and effort; neither of which are on his part. Put away the phone and learn!
Great professor. I strongly recommend taking his class. You will love philosophy and gain a great deal of knowledge ....thumbs up!
Professor Abaunza has been, thus far, the best professor I have had the pleasure to work with. He is very serious and passionate about Philosophy. If you take this class seriously, you will, without a doubt, question many things in your life. Take him if you want to really understand Philosophy and do NOT use your phone in his class. Good luck.
Very easy. Show up to class, pay attention. Note taking and reading the books isn't necessary whatsoever. Two very easy reaction papers. He talks a lot, participation isn't required, mostly just sit and listen to him. Watch a few videos. Genuinely cool dude.
Seriously cool dude, very understanding, very passionate about the subject. Literally all you have to do is show up to class and listen to him talk. Try to stay awake. He can talk forever. He gives a midterm and final, as well as two papers that are very easy if you pay attention.
Pretty awesome, he has a sense of humor, and he is passionate about philosophy, like seriously, no extraggerating. In this class we had 4 tests in total, no midterm or final. As long as you know whats going on in class, you should pass. Tests: multiple choice, T&F, and short essays.
One of the only classes I was excited to go to. Just shut your face for a second and listen to what this guy has to say, and think about it. Then he'll ask you some true-false questions to make sure you were listening and you'll pass! Seriously take this guy's class. I'm trying to find him for other classes too! Very interesting class.
good teacher. kind of all over the place with lessons but over good.
Professor Abaunza is a fantastic guy. He is unbelievably passionate about philosophy which makes the course amazing. All you have to do is READ the assignments. Some are long but they are VERY worth it. Read, attend class, do good on the tests and you will get an A. I would take this course over again if I could.
Dr. Abaunza is by far one of the most brilliant thinkers I've ever met in my college career yet. I took this class at night which can be a drag but Dr. Abaunza made it enjoyable. Attendance is mandatory to passing. He gives creative examples to better understand the material which can at times be challenging. Responds to emails quickly. Take him!
This man is possibly one of the best professors I have ever had throughout my college experience. He has some of the most involved, and thought provoking lectures. You need to definitely read the assigned work to pass. He has a lot of energy and he brings that with him to class and makes it as fun as he can. Very easy class.
He has a really smart mouth and is very sarcastic
He's a great person. Very smart, snappy, with it, fun, all the best things to find in a person especially a professor. Watch your grammar, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute! I took a 2:30hr night class until 9pm, I loved this class, learned a lot!
It would be an easy class if you read text that he post. Make sure you participate in his class once in awhile
He is a really nice teacher, as he connects philosophy with some events that happen in his life. In his test just make sure to be aware of your grammar mistakes, that could harm your test score.
Full of himself. Thinks he is better than all his students and other professors who he talks bad about.
He's at Caldwell university now. Flynn is better than him. that's sayin a lot.
