Pros: Makes every lecture interesting, really easy to understand and explains concepts really well, helpful if you don't understand something, actually cares about the material he's teaching. Cons: (Mostly) weekly homework assignments

To me the exams felt quite hard and the class seemed to go into more depth than probably necessary. Mosfets and such especially in the beginning.

His test's do not test you over what you have learned or studied for. The material is fairly easy, so he likes to word the questions so they are all impossible to read or comprehend.

Professor Adam's is one of the best professor's I've had at Purdue. He comes from a ECE background and is a hardware guy so expect more detail in that regard than necessary. But his lectures are interesting and you can tell he cares about what he teaches. It's not a easy class at all but keep up and it will be a class where you learn a ton.

He's not a good teacher at all. Lecture is boring. Lab is absurd. Too much homework. Exam material is not on HW or lab or textbook. You literally need be able to connect with God to know where to study. There also $40 textbook that looks like crap.

Really passionate about what he teaches, but because of his EE background, he goes way too in-depth on topics and rambles a lot during class. Exams are extremely hard even if you study and class has over 1000 slides for the final exam. Too much material crammed into one course imo which makes retaining knowledge on what was taught difficult.

Professor Admas is a good lecturer, he is always willing to help and teach you new things, but he always leaves tons of formidable slides and readings for you to read and study. Exams are not that easy.

Amazing person and burningly passionate for the subject he teaches, but unfortunately just does not teach the material very well. I know he tries so hard to make the lectures interesting as he floods with enthusiasm, but he doesn't do a good job of hinting what exactly you'll need to study and not which sucks cause there's so much material thrown

He's a decent professor. I really like his passion for teaching and he is very helpful and enthusiastic. However, the lectures do get a little boring sometimes and his lecture slides are crammed with lots and lots of text.

CS250 was a hard class. Adams is very enthusiastic and expects you to know a lot. On exams, he tested on things he only mentioned once. Labs and homeworks do take a good amount of time as well.

His lectures are phenomenal and he explains topics very well. His questions are often very specific and tricky, to the point where the are unhelpful and do not accurately test the student's knowledge. He is fun-loving and will drop dry humor throughout lecture. If you argue for points using logic and the textbook, he will reward you.

Adams is a great guy. He had an insane number of office hours, and is willing to go off syllabus to help you succeed if you ask nicely. He makes things clear. He's really proud of that book, you're going to have to read every assigned page twice and study the diagrams. He speaks slowly. If you decide to watch lectures online, make sure to keep up.

Very enthusiastic, great professor overall. Ignoring the class, he is a great guy. You'll find that in class he is a nerd, during office hours he is overall interesting. The class itself is tough, it isn't the professor. He's always there and I've found that even at 11 p.m., he still is helping. If you need to take this class, GBA is the way to go.

Phenomenal, often humorous lectures. In-depth, easy to understand explanation of content. Labs and homework are challenging, but force you to actually learn. Thorough feedback is returned. Listens to the students and is available 24/7. Exams are reasonably difficult. Adams is a superhero among men. Only con is that his questions can be very vague.

Adams is probably the best professor I've ever had. I've never met someone so willing to help--he holds a crazy number of office hours and answers questions on Piazza almost instantaneously. His lectures are really lively and he's a really funny guy--def worth going to office hours to get to know him. Not an easy class, but super worth it with him.

Great professor. He's great at explaining things clearly and entertaining while doing so. Holds a ton of office hours and is very accessible outside of class. The class is difficult, but it's graded fairly and if you work hard you'll do fine. All in all, easily the best professor I've had at Purdue.

This guy is awesome. He is very enthusiastic. Cs250 is hard. If you pay attention and read the textbook, you would not have any problem. He posts slides. You do not have to take notes. Exams are not straight forward. He is always available to answer your question.

Prof. Adams is a fantastic, passionate lecturer and devotes a lot of time outside of class to holding office hours and helping students. He's an expert in the material and explains it very well at an introductory level, and he's very approachable. His tests and homeworks are quite tough, but he curves fairly.

His lectures are entertaining. He's very good at casting doubt on what you think you know on the test. The homeworks/labs make you work for your grade. He has lots to share on computer architecture so if you get the chance to ask him about his work, do so!

Adams is one of the best lecturers I have had at Purdue. However, the test are truly insane. Be prepared to study like crazy for weeks for the faintest chance of getting a 60. You just gotta do your best and pray for a curve.

By far the most overrated professor at Purdue. Don't understand why so many people like him. Only his delivery is good, his content and exams suck. He doesn't slow down at all and his lectures are quite frankly hard to understand. He assumes that everyone is as passionate as him and thinks everyone understands hardware the same way he does.

Professor Adams has an almost tangible enthusiasm for computer hardware and is up to date with all hardware happenings. He once explained the difference in cpu speed and # of cycles to retrieve memory from disk. CPU being 10^6 times as fast is like a jet travelling 1k m/sec waiting on a snail at 1m/hour. Will have to read the textbook to pass well.

Took CS250 in s18 and worked for him as a TA for the next three semesters. Adams is a fantastic lecturer, and a genuinely nice guy. Shows a lot of passion for the topics. He expects a lot out of hist students. Exams are difficult, homeworks are difficult, a couple labs are hard. Homeworks are taken straight from the textbook.

I dropped out of CS because I was bad at it and unmotivated. The lecturers felt dead and the material was hard and I wasn't interested at all. Adams was the exception. He loved teaching and inspired me to learn more about the subject. I'll remember him as an amazing person in CS.

Prof. Adams was the best professor I had in Purdue CS, and his class was the most difficult I took. If you actually want to learn, his lectures are incredible and he goes out of his way to help students succeed. Really knowledgeable and had fair exams.

For CS182, Adams explains things concisely and in an easy to understand manner. I do not think he does the same for CS250. He is obviously passionate about hardware, but it is difficult to understand his lectures where he seems to skim over everything and provide little detail. His exams and HW are also not representatives of lectures.

Amazing lecturer. Labs were okay, the TA's for my lab were really bad so that kind of ruined my experience. Exams are a crapshoot. In office hours, he sometimes he gets his own past exam questions wrong because they are worded so vaguely.

Don't get me wrong he's an amazing lecturer and seems very passionate about the class in general. However, his exams are worded horrendously. There are a consistent amount of students who simply get the question wrong because of the wording in the question. This class should fulfill our English requirement for the college of science.

Lectures fine, but the wordings on his assignments and tests are bizarre that he even admitted his class is a low-key English class. He always asserts himself to be right and is unwilling to compromise whenever he makes mistakes, such as when people get something wrong on the homework because of an error in the lecture slides. Avoid if possible.

Worst professor ever. If you think Turkstra is bad, wait till you get George. Extremely unfair with grading. He can never admit that he's wrong. He literally changed the grading distribution 3/4's into the semester, making us do and long and tedious assignment that ended up not counting for our grade.

One of the most organized and caring professors in the CS department. Spends a lot of time responding to student questions and making quality lecture videos. His style each semester is making brutally hard exams, but making up for it with a thick curve at the very end.

This class was definitely one of the hardest out of the core CS classes. As others have said, his lectures are pretty good for the most part, but they can still be boring at times. The homeworks/labs/mini-exams weren't easy and part of the reason for that was a lack of clear concise wording. The final exam was terribly hard, but he did curve well.

This is frustrating. Prof Adams is a stellar lecturer, however, his exams have a penchant for bizarre, counter-intuitive readings used which often result in a low exam average. This is often (partially) offset by a generous curve at the end of the semester, but it's frustrating enough to merit the score given.

This class was a bit of a mess. I will admit, I think Professor Adams is a great lecturer. It's just the way he writes his questions that makes the course crazy hard. The material itself is not that bad, but rather trying to figure out how he would expect us to answer a question. I didn't get an A from studying, but rather luck.

His lectures are very good, he explains things very clearly and is very engaging to listen to. However, everything else in the course is anything but. Many homework questions make no sense. If you ask him a question he will always reply sarcastically and never give an actual answer. Quizzes and exams are intentionally worded confusingly.

The content of this class isn't actually that hard, but they way he explains everything is terrible. He speaks in an overcomplicated way during lectures, gives useless non-answers to even the simplest of questions, and accepts no feedback on anything. Homework problems end up being simple after taking hours to decipher the confusing language.

He's sarcastic and makes you more confused when you ask him questions. He's not a bad lecturer but the way he conducts class is simply arrogant and does not inspire passion in what is being taught. Furthermore, his language when asking questions in homework is simply bizarre, so much so that native English speakers are confused.

Terrible professor, avoid at all costs. He refuses to help students out when they have questions, and when he does answer them, Adams will make you more confused or even guide you in the wrong direction. Also, if you go to office hours for help, he will turn you away, saying he is too busy.

First I would like to say that this professor knows his information like the back of his hand. However, if you have a question for this class don't bother asking unless you want to decode the answer. Every answer to a question is either another question or a form of the answer that is worded in a way that makes you somehow more confused.

Avoid at all costs. He never answers questions from students in a clear way, always answering with something cryptic, and you can never negotiate with him about anything. If he makes a mistake on a quiz/exam, he will just get defensive and try his best to gaslight you into thinking you were the one who made a mistake. Please avoid I'm begging you.

His grade is exetremly tough. Less than three percent got A thus semester cut off for A is ninety-four, while no one got more than ninety five percent. There was less than one percent curve if you are not in C range. He is good lecturer, but I highly recommend to take with other professor since you will get better grade with less workload.

One of the best people in the CS dept hands-down. Very fun to talk to, incredibly active either on Campuswire or in his numerous office hours, and very willing to help. However, has some of the toughest, most cryptic, and easily misinterpreted questions I ever saw. It mostly feels like RNG when I am solving quizzes. Not to mention a ton of reading.

Our average for this semester was lower than previous semesters and he did not give us any curve even though previous semesters had such a good curve. Also, he does not know how to teach for his life, in his lectures he will go off on random tangents and talk about INTEL or DELL or some random stuff that's not related to the lecture at all.

Adams gives great lectures with energy and examples, and I found that I learned much, much more in his class than the other CS250 sections. However, he is not very good at answering questions, he is stubborn about regrading, and his homework and exam questions are worded with the intent to confuse. The curve was about a full letter grade.

He is indeed a good lecturer and enthusiastic to teach you. I appreciate this side of him. However, the grading for 101 class is insane. A starts from 94 for no reason He never truly admits his mistake. Exams are just insanely tricky; even though you have studied, he will find a way to let you down if you are looking for a grade.

Let me preface this by saying that he's an enthusiastic prof. who's passionate about what he's teaching. However, his lectures are incredibly confusing with too many points crammed into one slide. He's quite proud of his ability to rewrite his exams from scratch each year, regardless of how badly he words each question or doesn't provide his students a way to study for his exams. In addition, too many of the exam questions are so badly written that there are often > two interpretations available, which are too easy to confuse.

People complaining are crybabies in CS who cannot survive themselves and need a pack. Enrolling in a course does not guarantee you won't fail. Instead of barking on discord and being radical, try attending townhalls arranged by USB. Mere high school graduates pumped to rally and write a letter to the HOD and not following a complaint hierarchy.

Enthusiastic lecturer and knows a lot of about comp arch. However, his homework are written in the very confusing terms, and when we ask on discussion forum, he replies with passive aggressive answers. MC/FR exam requires you to memorize terms mentioned orally in the lecture. Decided on no curve with 57% exam avg then changed mind last minute.

Prof. Adams has an often vague way of asking questions on homeworks and exams which cause unnecessary confusion. He also does a little trolling. However, he is a passionate and available professor and has a sense of humor. I'd advise anyone taking 250 with him to read the textbook often: that ended up helping me keep up / prepare for exams.

Adams is very passionate about his subject and you can definitely see it in his lectures. But be prepared to put in hours towards his class. His labs get hard fast, and doing them helps you understand certain aspects of the course in depth, but still be wary of his exams. You just need to memorize everything to do well on his exams.

Prof. Adams is clearly passionate about CompA! But, be sure to DEFINITELY attend lectures since his slides aren't easy to understand without lecture context. Also, his exams are memorization-heavy, so study ALOT and know the content extremely well (use office hours!). Only 2 midterms + 1 final so do really well. Don't rely too much on a curve. GL

Questions that read more like riddles than actual questions, awful homeworks, extremely poorly designed tests are all components of this course. While I think that the professor is genuinely passionate about the material, he ruins it entirely by how he assesses knowledge. Condescending and unhelpful replies do not help either.

Great at lecturing and brings a lot of energy to the lessons, and overall is very clear in his explanations of the topics. However, he cannot write good exam questions to save his life. Often, the questions are just unclear or poorly written and he does not respond well to criticism on that front (Reluctant to change his mind, but not impossible).

Adams definitely knows the subject well and is passionate about it. His tests are pretty much just memorization but the homeworks aren't that bad. Reading the book helps a lot. The wording of questions is pretty bad though: They are worded so confusingly for no reason. His lectures are pretty good though they can sometimes be boring.

I'm in Prof. Adams's GenEd class, CS101. He's clearly upset that he teaches an easy class, and tries so hard to make it difficult. His questions on tests are like riddles: he does not care if you know the material, he just likes to trick students in his questions and take points off. I have an A, and he refused my homework that was 15 minutes late.

Professor Adams teaches a difficult course that is difficult to fully master. He understands that topics are difficult and unfamiliar and while he does not decrease the difficulty of his exams, he does give a fair grade that reflects the effort you put in.

Rude. In a regrade request (i verified my answer with an IDE so I know I was correct), I said "i believe my answer is correct," and this snarky, rude man replies: "Algorithms are not evaluated on anyone's belief. Extremely passive aggressive in class discussions. Is clearly unleashing some internal issues on students. So far the rudest professor I've had, seriously needs to spend some time learning how to treat people with respect. Loves reminding everyone that he knows the topics and they don't. I learned more from youtube videos than from his lectures.

Dude hasn't matured since high school. Doesn't have an ounce of respect in his body, talks to students like pests. I don't understand why he doesn't quit his job, he clearly hates what he does. Honestly, I'm not really sure why he gets so much hate. I honestly thought that he was fine. CS 25000 is lecture heavy, and as long as if you go to class and pay attention and take good notes, you should be fine. He also gave us more than a 10 percent curve for the Spring 2023 semester, so that's even better.

The slides were there, he happily answered any questions, and people comfortably responded to his questions in class. The worst professor I've ever had. Horrible at lecturing & goes off about random topics, super vague about what is going to be tested until the last minute. Always behind on releasing stuff. The worst is that he answers questions (specifically on Ed) with backhanded & rude comments, ignoring the actual question and refusing to tell the answer.

If you did the labs and HWs you basically got a free 40% in the class. Meaning your grade was entirely based on how you did on the 60% that were exams. Exams were hard but overall fairly graded. Adams was open to regrades if justified. His lectures were some of the best I have had at Purdue. The course itself is just hard.

Professor George B. Adams writes the tests for the course based on trivia and trick questions, rather than testing on the material taught in lecture. All study content provided for the exams is completely unrelated to the form the exams take. He seems to lack a comprehensive vision for the way the course is ran, and the students are left to suffer.

Instead of being tested on our mastery of computer architecture concepts, exam questions were merely poorly-worded trivia. Sometimes rude/unhelpful on Ed Discussion. Several questions worded poorly, don't properly test understanding. Accepts question appeals once in a blue moon. By far the worst professor I've had at Purdue. The labs for the majority of the class were answering questions on Word docs. Instructions were confusingly worded and unclear.
