Alexakis is a great professor, always willing to help students. He keeps the class fun by telling interesting stories and is genuinely caring about his student's progress. I wish he taught more classes.
He was a really good professor. Always helpful and very nice. We took a lot of field trips and he also let us know ahead of time exactly what was on the test. He gave us a copy of the questions to study. I recommend doing them all before the exam. (It's all multiple choice).
He loves to hear himself speak and thinks (and lets it be known) that he finds himself to be the greatest teacher. Really just tells stories and gives tests on things that have nothing to do with what he talks about. He does give a great study guide though, tests are easy if you do the study guide
He is great! Tests are easy, he wants us to focus more on our internships and other classes so he makes his class easy. Great guy to talk to and knows his students on a first name basis. Just bring up anything about food and you won't talk about anything else for about 30 min. He takes the time to listen to his students, but he loves to talk also.
This class is not hard. There are only 3 Learning Opportunities which are 15-20 multiple choice questions. He gives you a study guide and all the questions are the same with some extra. You have to find the answers in the book but other than that there is no reason to get the book. Attendance is most of your grade so SHOW UP!
This professor loves to hear himself talk.. 2 hr and 45 min class and will talk the entire time. Class isn't hard. Lots of group work and one big paper and presentation. Has two learning opportunities, its about 90 questions each and takes about 15-20 from each packet and tests you on it. Answers are all in the book and quilt
Alexakis was not my favorite professor, but his class definitely wasn't difficult. He gives you a study guide with the exact questions that are going to be on the test, only 2 tests all semester. Class is soooooo boring and he makes it last the entire time. Loves to hear himself talk so pretty much the whole class is lecture.
Very understanding, wants you to do well in his class. He helps out students dealing with stress from outside classes by rearranging course material. Very good teacher. Take him!
He is lenient when it comes to helping students out, he listens, always willing to talk to you if you need help or have questions, cracks some jokes, and is super understanding.
Dr. Alexakis cares for his students. As long as you come to class and do your work you will pass the class.
This professor will be your best friend and a great ally if you choose to have him as so.
Professor Alexakis is awesome! He is very helpful and listens to his students. He is willing to give more time for assignments if student need it and most assignments are not hard at all! Attendance is not mandatory, but a grade!
Really awesome professor! He genuinely cares about what he's teaching, and if you were to reach out to him explaining a situation of why you couldn't do an assignment, he's understanding and allows you to make it up. His class is fun, everything he talks about you can use during real life-situations. Attendance is graded, doesn't affect you to much
Overall easy class, respects students and material is not hard.
Professor Alexakis was a great professor. He typically uses Complete/Incomplete grading scale so even if you do poorly on an assignment, if you do it it is considered an A. DONT BOTHER BUYING THE TEXTBOOK. I used it maybe twice and didn't NEED to. He is a great guy and really cares about his students. He was the reason I found a great internship!
This professor really cares about students and the courses that he teaches. He takes into consideration that the students have other classes and will move things around if necessary.
Great Teacher!! Not much homework and the only major assignment is the group project. He will help you with assignments and also has good life advice in general.
Alexakis was one of my favorite professors! He is caring and will always give you more time for assignments if needed. You don't need the textbook but there are two other smaller things that are required. Lecture heavy for sure but I still highly recommend.
This professor is very inspiring and connects real-life information to topics discussed in class. He always uses examples that are easily understood.
He is really nice and wants to see you pass his class.
Alexakis is a great professor who cares for his students. His class is not that hard if you participate and show up to class. I have not met a professor who cares about students more! There are only 2 quite easy exams (he gives you the answers in advance) and a group presentation. His lectures are fun and he loves when everyone gets involved.
Professor Alexakis is a very knowledgeable, inspirational, and hard working professor! He gives few papers, not many tests, or to much homework! He cares and teaches everything he knows to make you a great leader. Do not miss his classes you will lose points. He listens and understands when you have a problem. Listen to him and you will pass!
Dr. Alexakis is very friendly and welcoming and truly wants the best for his students not only in class, but out in the professional field as well. He is very cultured and knowledgeable and is a great resource-especially if you are an RHM major for any field in the major!
Great guy but pointless class. He always talks and tries to engage the class. Hes funny but no real work gets done.
Good professor with a good heart, he genuinely wants all of his students to pass. Lectures can sometimes go for a little long. Best advice: Just do the work, it can seem a little easy and youll put it off to the last minute. But its never super hard so getting it done is easy and will help.
He genuinely cares about whether or not students are learning in the class. He also take time to answer any questions and gives great feedback on assignments. I would and have recommended this professor to other students.
Super sweet, caring professor. You learning is more important than your grade. He is not a tough grader at all. Would definitely take again.
Professor Alexakis cares about his students and making sure they understand the material. He gives great examples of useful information that will help you excel in your career. Great professor and man overall! Also only 2 test that you are extremely prepared for.
Alexakis is a genuine guy. Will attempt to do his part to assure that you are developing in his course.
Dr. Alexakis is very educated. He falls more under the lines of a public speaker. I had him once a week for 3 hours and we would almost always go the entire time. The class was so easy though. Two tests that he gives you the questions before, and a group presentation that takes up like the last 6 weeks of class. Not kidding.
Dr. Alexakis comes off strange at first but he is a very caring person! He gives good feedback and is always accessible outside of class. He does pick favorites and their is a group research paper during his class.
Class was boring and filled with personal stories that dont help you learn the actual material. All learning is done on your own time. He also patronizes students for their attire in class because he demands you dress business casual as if you dont have a life outside of his class. All around a cocky and pompous professor.
This mans wastes our time every class talking about himself. He teaches us nothing. Tells us to study 500 questions and chooses 20 random questions to test us on. lets us know that the answers we need to study in the textbook are incorrect and good luck!!! he's really awkward and likes to put students on the spot and ask random questions. weird guy
Professor Alexakis is awesome! Take this class! Honestly I wasn't a fan at first because he is very forward and doesn't have a filter. Simple lectures in class. He's super nice and caring. Study the study guide for the exams!! Questions are straight from the study guide. Assignment due at midnight? He'll literally push it a week back if you ask him
Rude & disorganized. He's clearly OK with being direct when it comes to criticism. But when it comes to giving directions he's vague. Don't bother asking questions because he refuses to help. Class sessions were basically an hour of doing nothing. Completely ruined the colloquium experience for me. Take another prof if you want to enjoy the course.
Took him for Colloquium so I have no idea how his regular classes go, but this was not enjoyable and I had a terrible time, along with many other students in class. Extremely vague with directions, comes off as egotistical, and is disorganized, cannot keep his courses straight. Hour long classes in which I learned nothing I didn't already know.
Professor Alexakis is not someone who I would want to take again under any circumstances. Unorganized and frustrating to try and talk to.
He makes you keep a journal and it is very important to stay on top of it or else you will get behind. He likes to hide some journal assignments in canvas. It all must be handwritten. He grades harder on essays than anything else.
This professor is not hard. Everything he does is meant to be for increasing learning. He does not give busy work, all of his assignments are meant for something.
ok teacher doesnt connect well with students but not to much of a hardo teacher
Easy class if you show up and pay attention
Prof Alexakis is a straightforward guy. For colloquium, he does his best to work through the course. There were a few times where directions were confusing, but it didn't result in anyone in the class getting a poor grade (just frustrated). He's your best bet for the colloquium teachers. I will leave another review at the end of the semester.
The class itself is not hard. I made the mistake of buying the book (that I never opened). When I would ask questions, the answers had an underlying backhandedness to them. I think he meant well, it just didn't come across that way and left a sour taste. Also, he prefers google docs and windows computers. Easy class if you do the work.
Gives needlessly vague and unclear instructions with just about the worst attitude possible. Made no effort to simplify assignments during quarantine either. Not hard but just a bloated class that often felt like it was a waste of time led by a very rude person. Not a good experience at all.
colloquium is a class that is taking by everyone who attends FGCU. For most, students just take it and want to get it over with and others thoroughly enjoy it. I was in between. I enjoyed the topics learned and most of the field trips, however, it should be an easy A. Assignments are graded tougher than needed. Very discussion based learning.
Professor Alexakis is a wonderful professor to have. Taking speed relations with him was a pleasure. Professor Alexakis allows students to do the course material at their own pace. If you are swamped with other work and can not get his done don't sweat it. Get the work done by the end of the course and you will succeed. Highly recommended .
I am not sure where the disconnect is as Dr. A was upfront about what he wanted, was a fair grader, and was accessible. He provides all of your assignments ahead of time, and you can work on them as quickly or slowly as you'd like. Do NOT wait until the last minute or you will not pass. I had an 8 week class, and it was a lot. I knew that going in.
He cares about you learning the information from field experiences, discussions, and materials. Lots of busywork including writing journals and watching videos. Canvas and instructions were a bit confusing at times. The field experiences are interesting and get you out of a classroom for a few hours. Pretty relaxed classroom setting.
This class was my favorite class this semester easy but insightful
Easy class
You have to be at every class or you will fail. Dont recommend for colloquium!!
Professor Alexakis was amazing. He cares about his students and is very passionate about what he teaches. The grading rubric was always clear, he was not a difficult grader. He was involved in class discussion, gave great advice. I would definitely take him again. Attendance is mandatory and graded.
Passionate about the subject and pretty understanding with his students. Attendence will hurt you if you are not present at almost every class. Field trips are fun!
Professor Alexakis truly cares about colloquium and you will to by the end of the course. The course is frontloaded so there is an abnormal amount of work at the beginning but the rest of the course the workload is light. There are three essays and a ton of smaller assignment (all are pretty easy). You will get an A+if you do the work. I recommend.
Really cares about his students. Be prepared for a front loaded class and to participate in a lot of in class discussions. Attendance is worth a surprising amount of your grade.
The professor really cares about his students and the content of the class. He demonstrates his passion for colloquium as well. The class is front-loaded with many assignments. Participation is graded.
I took colloquium with Dr. Alexakis, and I learned a lot. He is engaging and values student participation. He is very understanding that we have busy and stressful lives, and is happy to push back due dates if you ask him to. My only complaint is the course is not set up clearly in canvas and it is very confusing. Kind of a know-it-all though.
He was so easy to take and he was very kind. His lectures taught me more than I think a textbook ever could.
Very easy and kind.
Attendance is very important
Very nice and interesting professor. You can tell he is really passionate about what he does and wants us all to be engaged.
Overall great experience in colloquium led by professor Alexakis. It's apparent that he cares about the subject which leads to engaging classes and interesting discussions. Class is a bit heavy at the beginning but the workload is totally manageable. If you have him as a choice and are looking for an interesting experience choose Alexakis!
He gives vague directions and then doesn't give you any feedback. How are you supposed to learn? I appreciate his willingness to help when you reach out to him. However, I don't think I should have to reach out to ask for what the assignment is about. I also shouldn't have to ask for details regarding feedback.
This was the best professor I have had at FGCU. Ive been here for 3 years and he was the first ive had that actually cared for his students and if the learned the material or not. He is NOT here JUST for the paycheck like the other professors on this campus. I highly recommend taking this class.
This professor was inspirational at his worst. Absolutely inspiring and took my breath away each lecture. I learned so much and had so much fun, especially during the field experiences we took every Friday. I highly recommend taking Colloquium with professor George Alexakis!
Amazing professor. Actually cares about what he is teaching. I had him for entrepreneurship and he did a great job. Average amount of work but he cares about students and is lenient when grading. Is fine with late assignments but attendance is very important in this course.
Highly recommend this professor!! There is a lot of work but he does allow late work to be accepted. Front Loaded class.
he's really great, and very forgiving if your having issues
I would recommend taking this course in the summer. This way you can enjoy the class without worrying about other assignments.
Professor Alexakis is great, if you show up and care he will work with you on late assignments and grades. He truly cares about his students success
If you looked up awesome in the dictionary, you'd find this guy
Great Professor and caring to students
Recommend this class for anyone looking. If you show effort you get a good grade, he is very understanding and doe-sent want you to fail I would imagine it would be very hard to fail this class as he is very open with making up assignments as long as you want to put in the work
Professor Alexakis is a great professor who kept it entertaining in the classroom and has a passion for encouraging students to be free-thinking individuals. He definitely gave me more confidence in my abilities and ideas.
Professor Alexakis is a great professor who cares about his students. He is a very passionate about being creative and thinking outside of the box. He will also work with students and classes about making the class work around both schedules. Great professor-Highly recommended him!
Be prepared to record yourself for assignments. I'm okay with zoom but do not like recording myself for others to go back and watch.
Dr. Alexakis is very passionate and incorporates a lot of his experiences to tie together course concepts. Participation is a big part of his style
Awesome professor, some work can be tedious, but would be worth taking the class with him. He will give you great insights and give you some slack on late work.
Dr.Alexakis really cares about getting you prepared for the workforce when it comes to communication. His assignments are meaningful without being difficult. He is not a harsh grader, just follow the instructions. I have taken two classes with this professor and got As in both and liked them both.
This professor really cares about what you are learning. He is great with working with students to get their work done and engaging with them to make sure that they understand the course material.
Very forgiving in terms of deadlines as well as course content. Try your best and if you get behind he will help you out! Just don't be afraid to participate and reach out.
Dr. Alexakis is a very kind professor. He really cares if his students learn and will help you in any way he can.
Professor is easy and accommodating
Dr. Alexakis is truly a great teacher. All assignments that are given are clear and concise, some are given alternatives if you don't like the one assigned. The online class is all laid out, and easy to follow. There are multiple discussions, they are useful and not difficult. All activities that are assigned are beneficial to the real world.
The professor genuinely cares about your learning and urges strongly to complete assignments. He's very nice and knowledgable and an easy grader. I would definitely recommend him!
This was an online class with at-most 3 assignments a week. The content was light and so was the workload. Very easy and understanding professor.
Professor Alexakis is a good professor. There are a few written assignments, but other than that he's great.
Issues in Culture and Society was a great class. Professor Alexakis exceeded in every possible way to make our learning fun and comprehendible. Participation and turning in assignments on time are a must. Professor usually responds quickly via email and can go a step further (phone call) if you're not understanding an assignment.
This class was great and the professor was even better. I was very engaged in every lecture and class. The assignments were clear and he was very understanding when grading. 10/10
Everything is very clear in the class and the grading is not harsh. As long as you attend and turn in assignments on time you should be good.
Easiest class I've ever taken and coolest professor.
He is awesome, very understanding and caring. He really only wants the best for his students and for them to succeed
Great Professor who makes class fun and engaging. You get to know your peers a lot with the collaboration in class. Few homework assignments, maybe like 1 a week.
the colloquium course with this professor overall was not hard. At the beginning of the semester he fills you up with assignments that are not hard to do, but they do take time. As the semester passes there are fewer assignments. This class does require field experience, so be ready for that! oh, and they also do wet walks.
Professor Alexakis is very engaging and clearly cares about the topic he is teaching. I learned a lot from this class and he truly made a required course actually enjoyable for myself. The course is front loaded which turned out to be a great choice because it saved me time later on in the semester. I highly recommend taking him.
He approaches his classrooms differently than other professors. He keeps you engaged with the concepts and makes the material easy to follow. No test/quizzes. Attendance is mandatory for field experiences.
Truly a fantastic professor. He laid out to course very well with short easy assignments that are to the point and in the video presentations he provides. One thing I have to say is be prepared to make a few video presentation submissions, they are not long or difficult but if you aren't used to the camera it may be a little harder.
Great Professor! If you make a mistake he will let you fix it without taking out points. Not a hard class at all. Would take it again. You will learn career-helping traits.
He is a great professor, who cares about the student, and provides great professional and personal examples to the topics we discuss in class.
For ENT2000 he was an amazing professor, easy class and good subject. Always was interacting with students and engaging in what his lesson plan was.
Professor George Alexakis is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory. Easy grader if you show up to class you will pass the class. Very understanding if you miss work or class easy to communicate with outside of class.
Alexakis was big on public speaking and giving presentations. He was more concerned with the student learning than any other professor I have had
He does take attendance every day, but the class is worth going too. He really gets involved with each topic and provides real-life examples to help you better understand. He is very understanding and will help you out when needed.
Best teacher and class ever. This class provided me with a better outlook on life and how to network with people. I strongly recommend this course for everyone regardless of your major.
Alexakis is the opposite of the typical boring monotone lecture type of professor. He actively walks around the classroom during his lectures, asking us questions, and we ask questions back. He is undoubtedly the most engaging and interactive out of any of the professors I've had so far at this school.
Dr. Alexakis is very nice and cares about his students. He also provides really good lectures and assignments that will help you.
Dr. Alexakis was a great professor who really cared about the student. Not only will he help you academically, but personally as well, which really helped me discover who I want to be in the future.
Grades attendance. Conveys the material clearly and assigns lots of little quizzes on it, but they have multiple attempts.
This online course was really fun. He does easy and engaging assignments and discussions. The only thing that was kind of hard was the research paper but he gives you two weeks to finish it and it only has to be 3-5 pages long.
Great professor, straight forward, and actually learn.
This professor was great! The assignments were easy and the quizzes were short and educational. The professor contacts everyone throughout the course to make sure they are on the right path. 10 / 10 recommend.
I recommend this course and this professor to other students. This man is brilliant!
Dr. Alexakis was a great professor! I learned many tangible, practical skills that I find myself using every day in IDS 3332. Purposeful assignments.
Only Good Things to say
Good teacher. Gets excited about everything especially talking about food and overall talks a lot.
Dr. George Alexakis excels in communication, and engaging teaching style significantly impacting students' learning experience, and promoting a positive classroom environment.
Overall, great professor. Super understanding, allowed late work and made the class more discussion base. However, at times he can tend to talk A LOT about things not pertaining to the course. Doesn't let class out early, and cares about attendance. Take during the summer, the course load could be pretty intense.
Professor Alexakis is knowledgeable on many subjects which makes him relatable. He is also more concerned with you learning than he is about your grade and will allow for you to make up and resubmit work after giving his feedback. He is going to challenge you to get out of your comport zone because he wants you to grow.
Professor Alexis is a fun professor who truly wants everyone to succeed. He's motivating and his class is one of the few I don't mind attending.
Professor Alexakis wants all of his students to succeed. His main consensus is wanting students to complete assignments properly and take their time. I would definitely take another class with him.
wonderful professor! easy to communicate with if you need help with something!
The professor was very caring and he responds quickly to any emails questions you have.
He is very thorough and expects the your absolute best!
Busy work
Dr. Alexakis was a great professor! I recommend this course and this professor to other students. He has a very clear grading criteria and a couple discussion posts that you have to respond to. Overall an easy class!
Easy class. The professor is very understanding. I would take it again 100%
Good class, A few videos of yourself
he's so silly and such a good professor. definitely would take him again. he's very down to earth and very real.
Cares about your education especially in this course.
made a required course interactable and easy
Alexakis is a great professor that cares about his students. I would recommend his class to anyone taking Colloquium!
How he front loads the beginning of the semester can be helpful, especially to students who are on top of their work/not going through crazy life experiences. Very kind, understanding, all assignments are due for full credit by the end of the semester.
Dr. Alexakis is a great teacher for Colloquium. He is engaging in lectures, covers a wide variety of topics, and has really interesting field experiences planned for students. He is determined to help his students succeed and responds quickly to messages. If you're looking for a teacher to take Colloquium with, you can't go wrong with Alexakis.
I think Professor Alexakis is an amazing professor. He is very knowledgeable in every aspect of entrepreneurship and wants you to do your best in every day possible.
The class was easy and the work was quick. The lectures were interesting and engaging.
The professor demonstrated a strong ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and understandable manner, contributing significantly to a positive learning experience.
He's a great teacher
This professor is great at lecturing, but the flipped method is not working for this class. The lessons done outside of class aren't a great reflection of what is done inside of class. I would've appreciated more connection between the lessons and the lecture. He's a great person and a great teacher- just needs more organization in my opinion.
Professor Alexakis is a great professor he is very helpful. He provides real life examples and they are very interesting to listen to. I would take him again his class was great and very easy.
Assignments were easy and material was taught well. Many opportunities and resources are given in this class.
super chill course. helps you enjoy coming to class
Prof. Alexakis is a wonderful instructor. The class has an online part, where you learn the course content, and an in-class part, where you apply the content. The Learning Opportunities are helpful and easy to get a good score. It is a fairly easy course but still requires some effort outside of class to complete assignments and 2 lessons a week.
The professor brings in great guest speakers and helps students find opportunities to grow their businesses and ideas.
The profesor is very easy going. He speak well and is very easy to understand. He convey the materials well. He has all the module assignment posted on canvas ready to complete whenever you want. They do have do dates but you can still submit after the due date (for the module quizzes, not in class ones). He goes over lectures and plays videos.
He was an awesome professor
Very straight up with students and reasonable. The homework is minimal but class participation is a major part of the course. Lectured heavily on basics of entrepreneurship but sprinkles in personal experiences and pieces of advice that make class worth while. Did great at informing us on the opportunities and tools we were able to utilize for free
as long as you show up and apply yourself the class should be easy!
He was very chill, genuinely wanted us to learn. Not many test, if there are you should be prepared for them.
Class based more on class discussions and group work rather than quizzes and tests. I appreciate that as someone who isn't great with tests. But only take this class if your willing to participate, otherwise it would be boring for you.
Great professor. Easy course yet worth paying for. Taught me a lot and made me think more out of the box. Professor Alexakis truly cares for his students. Would def recommend.
This class was very easy but the elevator pitch at the end isn't fun and most people won't like doing it.
Great class! Definitely recommend Professor Alexakis. The class was fun and interactive.
Really enjoyed this class! Would recommend.
Very good teacher, he is very outgoing and loves to tell share about his story about how he became an business man.
Very good professor, cares about his student and assignments are super easy.
The lectures are in video form. There is a written journaling component for the class that is due at the end of the semester, so make sure you do that as you go instead of leaving it for the end. As long as you actively participate in the assignments, you will do fine.
Professor Alexakis was an easy going professor and the class is online with discussion boards due every week.
Dr. Alexakis provides an organized and thoughtful curriculum. He considers how to engage virtual students with various methods and understands that students learn differently. While nothing is overly difficult in the class it is clear that he wants students to be able to use the content he is teaching for real-life scenarios to help them succeed.
I dreaded taking this class at first but I really did learn a lot and it pushed me out of my comfort zone which I don't do much! Dr.Alexakis is very understanding and knows students take more than just one class! I highly recommend taking his class for University Colloquium.
No swamp walk. There are 3 essays and journal entries, make sure not to wait last minute to complete the journal. Assignments are heavy at start of semester but lessen each week. Attendance is graded
Professor Alexakis was one of the best professors I have ever taken for a course. He is very engaging and interacting with his students and cares about his student's wellbeing. He planned fun field trips for this course that tie in with the main concepts that we learned in lectures.
He is a passionate environmentalist and has a wealth of resources; ask him any questions you have related to you projects or career, he may be able to give you some great connections.
Really great guy! Doesn't really teach directly from the lessons/homework that he puts on canvas but he has valuable stories and connections!
Professor Alexakis was a very good professor that I would take again. He made the assignments very easy to understand and very easy to pass the class as long as work is done.
Some assignments may be awkward if you're not good on camera, but all assignments are pretty easy and he is super understanding and lenient with late work!
Very good professor.
Easy to follow curriculum and online opportunities made this class very accessible. Professor Alexakis is available when need be and fair grader.
Professor is very fair & reasonable given it is an Online Course. Pretty cut & dry. I did not know ahead of time that the entire course only ran for 2 months, which meant a lot of busy work often. Do the work, pass the class.
The class was easy. It was only a half semester course, and while the workload looked difficult, it was easy. Mainly watched videos and took quizzes based on those videos and had unlimited attempts, so you always got 100's.
Professor Alexakis made this class very easy to understand. Since this is an asynchronous course all of the material was online. However, he explained everything so clearly I never had to email him for any questions. He explained everything in detail and never left out any piece of information. I also learned so much about the tourism industry.
Dr. Alexakis is very helpful, responds quickly and is always willing to confer during office hours. His content is presented in an engaging way and is though provoking. I would take another of his classes.
Great class for integrated studies majors.
Professor Alexakis makes the due dates and instructions very clear to understand and makes sure that it follows the syllabus exactly. I suggest to be ready to have multiple of quizzes per week(2 or 3 times) but do not worry. Everything is open notes and the resources given before taking the quizzes are clear and steers you in the right direction.
Dr. Alexakis provided clear instructions for every assignment and provided examples when applicable. I never felt unsure of what was required of me and never had to contact the instructor with questions. The course content was engaging and interesting and I would gladly take another course he taught!
Great course!
Great professor! You just have to check in everyday for homework, but it's fast and easy.
The class was very interesting and everything for the course was available online.
Sometimes had a hard time reaching him through email but the coarse was interesting and enjoyable.
Very easy to communicate with
Professor Alexakis provides all the material that is needed to be successful in the course.
The flexibility of the course is life saving!
Lots of field trips and group discussions. As long as you come to class and participate you'll get an A. Make sure to do your work at the beginning of the semester, he front loads the course making every thing available with clear instructions. You have to try hard to fail this class!!
Dr. Alexakis, is so passionate about colloquium and wants everyone to pass. He is flexible and willing to work with you to make sure you understand the concepts.
Alot of work
Great teacher
Professor Alexakis goes above and beyond. He teaches in a unique way and all he wants out of the class is for you as the student to learn. He understands that everyone learns in a different way and he is very accommodating.
Great time in this class. Very simple and easy grade if you do the work!
Really enjoyed learning and seeing the passion he has for the class.
Dr. Alezakis is a good teacher. Grades pretty standard but you can redo a lot of the homework which makes it a lot less stressful of a class.
Dr.Alexakis is a good professor and his intro ENT class was easy and fun.
I am possibly one of the worst students academically to be at this school, and still found the time to get a good grade in this class. I Highly recommend for anyone curious about pursuing a major or minor in entrepreneurship.
He is very engaging and forgiving with assignments.
Helpful outside of class hours, accepts late work, and does a great job explaining course content. If you show up to class and do the assignments it is impossible to fail. Highly recommend to anybody who is an Entrepreneurship major/minor.
Overall great professor, from lectures to the assignments and videos watched in class. Not only do you learn a lot about entrepreneurship, but he also is very inspiring about the mindsets one would need to be successful!
Very knowledgable about many things
Very passionate about what he does and it shows in his teaching. Makes learning enjoyable without the boring mono tone and death by power points and textbooks. I really enjoyed my class with him and he provides a great atmosphere while teaching something that may not corresponded personal. I would definitely take another class of his if given.
The professor is full of knowledge and you should definitely take him. I'm in my senior year and found him to be very helpful when you ask him anything. He truly wants you to learn and makes the class easy to understand. He is flexible and understanding and integrates time in class for you to complete assignments and gives you on the spot feedback
The best entrepreneurship professor I have had. Very easy course load , does not take off points for late work . Great lectures . Highly recommend
This is my third class I have taken with Dr. Alexakis and each have gone great. I really appreciate and enjoy his teaching style along with how he teaches you things in your day to day life!
If you want to show up to a class and have a fun learning environment that makes you think he is your guy. He is willing to work with you and help resumbit assignment no late deduction.
He was a good professor but the journaling assignments were consuming. He doesn't take points off for submitting assignments late, however, it would be best to try and do all the assignments ahead of time so you don't get behind. He loves to talk about Greece and he knows his foods. He is a great professor overall and you won't regret taking him.
The professor was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining the concepts in the course. He is a very easy grader, making it impossible to fail the class. He uses discussion boards, real-life experiences, and his expertise to create a great presentation of sustainability.
Great professor a good professor to take in the fall
Professor Alexakis creates a fun, engaging learning environment. He's flexible, understanding, and truly wants you to succeed. For study prep, tools like unstuck study alongside the free textbook were super helpful. Recommended for any Entrepreneurship major or minor.
In my experience, Professor Alexakis was an engaging professor that provided a perfect amount of guidance and teacher-student connection, even in a fully online course wherein you get no facetime with your professor or fellow students.
Very good professor! Communicates and allows you to make up past assignments. 100% would take again
Professor Alexakis did an excellent job of being flexible and articulating key concepts regarding tourism. He is very understanding and does his best to ensure that you as an individual understand the core values of tourism.
Professor Alexakis was a great professor! It was an interesting class about the issues in tourism. His course was very organized and he provided great resources. The instructions for the assignments were very clear and detailed. He also accepted late work, which was greatly appreciated! I would take another course with him.
Overall great experience!
He was chill he lowkey gets in a bad mood sometimes though
100% RECOMMEND
. . . . . .........
Good proffesor keeps u engaged
Good guy who wants to help u
Homework was always straightforward and tests in class were given multiple attempts. A bit of public speaking required.
informative class
Dr. Alexakis was my favorite professor this semester super fun class learned a lot super easy
I absolutely loved professor Alexakis! He genuinely cares so much about his students and what he teaches is extremely valuable, even to those who are not going into entrepreneurship. You can do the assignments at your own pace, meaning you can actually sit down and learn the content without having to rush to meet a deadline. Highly reccommend!
I highly recommend this professor because he is inspirational, an experienced entrepreneur, great person, and lets you complete assignments with little to no penalty after the due date. I am taking his online class next semester and am excited to learn more from such a wonderful professor.
Dr. Alexakis is inspirational and gives really helpful career-readiness advice in a non-threatening way. He likes his students to use him as a resource, especially for public speaking, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and business consulting. One of my favorite classes and highly recommended even if you're not an entrepreneurship major.
Is a very nice professor with a fun and engaging class. Grades homework pretty harshly but the work itself is extremely easy. Doesn't care about late assignments as like as they get submitted.
Professor Alexakis is an good teacher and attendance is mandatory. Sometimes the lectures are a little drawn out but the class is very easy and if you do the homework it is an easy A or at least a B.
Professor Alexakis is awesome. He's a very engaged professor who cares about getting you to learn the content instead of just getting you to memorize information for a test. Course is loaded in the beginning with assignments but the work isn't hard and it means the end of the semester has less work, great for finals week. Absolutely recommend!
Professor Alexakis gave us a lot of resources in order to actually understand the information instead of just memorize. I left this class with knowledge that could actually be used in the real world. He also understood that students have lives outside of the classroom and kept assignments available throughout the course to make up!!
Likes to use real world examples to help demonstrate or explain every day activities/courses in the materials.
He's patient, understanding and always available.
this professor is really nice & will let you make up work if you complete it wrong. 10/10 recommend.
He is very informative, and easy to understand. He teaches a variety of topics, and yet makes them all relate. He is very caring about making sure you succeed in his class.
Professor Alexakis is super easy to talk to, gives great lectures and teaches real world skills. There's no ‘real' midterm or final. The final is a short elevator pitch. His grading criteria is well laid out but the assignments are very easy. Just put effort into this class and it's an easy A and you'll leave having learned actual helpful skills.
Kinda confusing but the class was easy as long as you participated.
This class was super easy and clear.
Professor Alexakis (Ale-zack-kiss) is a very in-depth professor. This was my first semester at FGCU and I found that his Intro to Entrepreneurship course was easy, engaging, and very understandable. He touches on topics in class, but there are usually 3-4 assignments per week that need to be completed online that will actually teach you lessons.
Great guy, talks alot though
Prof. Alexakis seeks lots of positive participation. Course material is easy, just need to put the effort forward to do them. Loves to have questions asked and gives good life experience type scenarios. Overall good intro course.
If you are looking to learn a lot about entrepreneurship this is the class for you.
great professor!!
Great teacher overall! Never once was a class boring. He is caring as long as you show you care.
Great professor
Great intro class and very relaxed environment. Super helpful that Professor Alexakis posts the assignments ahead of time, so you can get it done and work ahead. He was super understanding and let assignments be early and late, as long as it was complete it was given credit. Attendance is mandatory, but a great class overall I would recommend!
Alexakis is a very in-depth professor. This was my first semester at FGCU and I found that his Intro to Entrepreneurship course was easy, engaging, and very understandable. He touches on topics in class, but there are usually 3-4 assignments per week that need to be completed online that will actually teach you the course material (very important).
I felt that this class talked about a lot of important topics that are useful and important inorder to increase your chances to become successful.
Apparently his Colloquium course is way more involved than other ones, so I feel like I wasted a lot of time. But also he doesn't consider anything late until the week before finals, which is nice.
Easy class. Definitely likely to recommend this class to others. Attendance is very mandatory, but all in class work is easy. Mostly in class lectures and out of class work.
Professor Alexakis was honestly one of the best professors I've had at fgcu, his assignments were never too difficult and he gave a lot of examples for what you should have. The rubric for assignments were very clear and as long as you follow them, you will get an A.
Dr. Alexakis's effectiveness in presenting course materials. He is the best professor I have had in my years at FGCU," noting his great humor and teaching skills. His classes are never boring and that he provides good feedback, indicating his ability to make complex subjects accessible and engaging.
Easiest class. Let students submit assignments late without affecting the grade. Overall, interesting and easy class.
Professor Alexakis is a great Professor, his assignments were fun and never too difficult. He provided examples and rubric for assignments. As long as you follow the rubric (which was very clear) that he provided, you will get a good grade in this course. I appreciated that he grades late work, but don't take it for granted.
I have taken an online and in person course and would much rather take the in person course because the online one was asynchronous and there was not a single video of him. In person is a totally different experience and he is organized, experienced, and very clear in his assignments which makes completing them that much better. No %⬇️for late work
Great professor, would take again uses an interactive approach and makes online learning engaging.
I needed this class in order to graduate. Professor answers on time and class assignments were very easy. There is a lot of writing.
Super easy class. It was a lot of writing but the assignments were so easy
Dr.Alexakis was an amazing professor, he really cares about his students and wants them to succeed, he worked with me on due dates and worked around absences as well. He's very intelligent and makes the content easily understandable.
He's great
The class was very easygoing, you will not be burdened with material or assignments. The class is front loaded, in that most of the material is assigned at the beginning of the semester, and it eases off as the class goes on. The field experiences are lots of fun, also. He's also greek, and he won't let you forget it! :D 11/10 teacher.
Professor Alexakis truly cares about his students. He cares more about your understanding and application of the materials than he does about assignment completions. He is very accommodating and made this course very fun. Colloquium was one of my favorite classes that I have ever taken at this school and that is mainly because of this professor.
This lesson begins challenging but becomes simpler as it goes along, thanks to the excellent professor. Keep your journal up to date because this is a writing class.
The professor was great. He was very passionate about the course which was very admirable. The last is very easy to past as long as you go to class and the field experiences. It was a fun and exciting experience to take this course with Professor Alexakis! I learned a lot with him and gained more of a love for nature through him and this course.
He's nice and personable, he talks a lot. There aren't very clear instructions for some assignments, but for others there's two pages of instructions. KEEP UP WITH YOUR JOURNAL! It's a big part of the grade and it's super important.
The professor gives a lot of work; it is a tedious amount of assignments that you must do for your journal, which must be 25 pages+. Attendance is mandatory, and if he does not like your reasoning, he will question you and still not fix your grade for attendance.
He often seemed unsure of the material and talked off-topic a lot. He was disrespectful and didn't listen to students. Once, after being corrected by a worker, he said she “needed to have sex to fix her attitude.” Incredibly inappropriate. Do not take his class
I took Colloquium with Prof. Alexakis, and for that course, he was very patient and understanding when it came to me personally because I had a few things going on, and it was my 1st mini course. His work was also fair and always came with great instructions, examples, and resources. Definitely would take a course with him again.
This professor was super caring and really understanding throughout the semester. You can tell he genuinely cares about what he teaches. The assignments were actually fun and made sense, nothing felt like busy work. I learned a lot and enjoyed the class way more than I expected. Highly recommend!
He was an extremely meticulous, tedious, hard grader. It is super frustrating when assignments are done correctly, he puts a 0, then asks what the problem was, and is told to refer to the rubric. Then, referring to the rubric, which assures everything was done perfectly, submitting that same paper and getting 90 %+. But he takes late work so cool
Lots of variety with the types of assignments, refreshing to take a class that isn't a bunch of discussion posts all the time. Is a little particular grading wise but as long as you do all the work on time you'll do well. the professor truly cares. It also nice that there's no textbook required. Overall a solid class and professor choice.
I took this course online for semester B of spring. It was very fast paced with multiple assignments being due a week. The assignments weren't difficult, but there were a lot of them. One thing that you should prepare yourself for is all assignments being due at 9:00pm so if you work a job, I do not recommend taking him. Otherwise, he's good.
I would've enjoyed the class more if i had more hours in the day and it wasn't a half a semester long, but he was great, if you are complete all the assignments you will pass. I would recommend this professor but you do write a fair bit and it is time consuming but you can get through it, I've had much worse professors at FGCU, this is a good one.
Good professor gives feedback on some papers and seems fair in grading.
Really good professor. Easy to talk to and understand the material.
Pretty chill professor to take the class online with. I took the class in a spring B session and did not struggle at all. couse work is spread out nicely unlike other online professors. Really no complaints.
Professor Alexakis is kind and truly cares about his students' success. The class is writing-intensive, so be ready to put in the work, but the material is thought provoking and relevant to real life, which keeps it engaging. Concepts clearly explained & helpful feedback. I didnt enjoy the video aspect but appreciated his supportive teaching style.
10/10 Recommend very good professor.
Professor Alexakis is an okay professor. If you miss one prompt on an assignment, he will give you a zero then tell you to redo it, but with little feedback on what you need to fix. He does reply to messages quickly though. I took colloquium in the summer so the workload was pretty heavy for 6 weeks.
He was such a great professor, I learned so much in this class and he helped when I needed it. Highly recommend!
Great professor, lots of work, particular about grading, but won't penalize you for fixing it or turning it in late.
Amazing teacher. I took University Colloquium online. The course was fun and felt important. I cannot stress enough DO NOT take university colloquium during an accelerated semester if you have even one other class that requires a brain. Normal duration semester, sure, but beware the accelerated if you are in other classes. No late points though.
Great professor! I only took this class for Fall A, so the workload was a bit heavy. Individual assignments can be a bit heavy as well, but really do help you learn the material. If you are going to take this class, definitely do take it with this professor!!!
I've had professor George Alexakis a couple times now and he is the best, I would definitely take other classes he teaches if needed too. Very direct and makes learning interesting. If you are taking a course in issues in environment this professor is your guy! You wont be disappointed.
As someone who works full time, the class is pretty writing intensive, and while the due dates are kinda odd being at 8:59pm, the professor doesn't take away points for late work, so it actually feels that while the work load is heavy, it isn't just meant to give you a number/percentage grade, he really wants you to engage in each assignment!
The class wasn't hard. I got sick halfway into the semester, and he was very understanding and gave me a grace period to finish up everything I needed to get done!
communicated with the professor, he care more about your learning than the grade.
Great professor, and is super understanding. You just have to do the work!
The professor demonstrated strong professional abilities throughout the course. Their teaching style was organized, clear, and supportive, which made the material easy to follow even in an online format. The professor also communicated expectations well and provided thoughtful explanations that connected the lessons to real-world examples.
This class was the most unique class I have taken. The professor was very understanding of submitting assignments late since most assignments were due at 8:59PM. The class was a lot of work at first but it gets a lot easier after the first month and as long as you do your work you will be fine. Only complaint is the hand written journal was a pain.
I enjoyed taking this course with Dr. Alexakis. However, it is very coursework heavy including having to do “field experiences” on your own time. This class is good for those who do not work full time outside of school. However if you do, it'll be tough.
The professor provided a lot of information in Canvas that made the course very easy to follow and understand. Would recommend Dr. Alexakis to other students.
Professor Alexakis has to be one of the most understanding professors ever. He allows for late work, understanding there is a dense work load at the start of the semester. Outside of classwork, he is also understanding of situations and circumstances with life. Very reasonable grader and would recommend to anyone.
great professor who cares about his students. as long as you follow his grading criteria you'll pass the class because of how simple it is.
The professor demonstrates strong professional abilities and a clear understanding of the course material. Their teaching style is engaging and well-organized, which makes complex concepts easier to understand. They provide relevant examples that help students connect theory to practical applications.
The class was well executed well and was designed to be progressive learning experience where each lessons builds off the last. This is an awesome professor who is flexible when scheduling appointments or phone calls to discuss the class assignments.
Dr. Alexakis's course was pretty demanding, but his grading criteria and directions were very thorough. It is a front loaded, dense course, so establish good habits early on. He was very understanding and allows late submissions. It's doable to get an A in this class, so long as you put in the work. Start your journal early! It's handwritten.
This professor is very good but lots of work. You have to go on field trips that are mandatory.
Great class just make sure you read the assignments carefully and complete them!
Professor Alexakis is passionate about what he does and his course is set up well. It is a lot of work condensed into 8 weeks. The assignments are relevant to any career as it helps you set up your LinkedIn and consider future career plans. Just prepare to have to record yourself on video doing pitches and speeches.
Easy to communicate with. Doesn't make the class too hard.
Great professor, and lets you submit late assignments for full credit. Would recommend.
He conveyed the material well with videos, excerises, and powerpoint slides.
He is one of the professors who makes you feel like your learning actually matters. I would definitely recommend taking him.
Great proff.
As it is a mini term, there are assignments due most days.
Super chill about late assignments!
