His teaching is good and has a sense of humor.

Overall, good teacher
Worse math teacher in the dept.... take Dr. Agnew instead
horrible professor; basically failed half the class and the high score was a B
Teaches as bad as he looks!!!

The most unwilling to help teacher that I have had. He only sees things one way--his way. Steer clear of him if at all possible. An i.e. of how A.Retentive he is: not even water is aloud into the classroom. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT grader!
almost the worst teacher at fullerton
You must be a MATURE student (i.e. responsible, dedicated, organized) to benefit from Prof. Arthur's lectures. He will NOT hold your hand throughout the class, but he expects you to work hard in the class. Hard work will pay great dividends!!
He does a good job of presenting the material, however his quizzes and tests are not representational of the material. If a student were to discuss this point with him, he says "this is an upper division college course, not Math 100." Not very
I have taken Mr. Arthur for two semesters in total, he is clear about his material. The only setback I had was that he uses tests from a test bank somewhere and sometimes you have no idea if you actually studied this material, and he grades very hard!
i don't understand why people find him to be a hard teacher. you must understand calculus is TOUGH. he is a good professor and does an excellent job in explaining the material. he does grade very hard, but does ease up towards the end.
Great teacher, always helpful. Much more so than De Land. He grades tests super analy though. Watch out for him asking u to draw things.
His tests are a little hard but if you take notes, do homework and pay attention, you will be fine. If you do such things, you will get a C, probably. He is very helpful. He explains very well and goes personally if you have any problem. He is the best.
The worst teacher I have ever had on the campus.
Great teacher, explains wonderfully. His tests do relate to lectures, he will be there when you need help. I enjoyed him as a teacher, but he is a very hard test grader, so if u have testing anxiety lik me, don't take him.
I thought he was a good teacher. Just make sure to do your homework. It will help a lot on the tests.
His lecture notes are very helpful, so you must take notes in order to understand the topic. As a teacher, he is good. However, as a person, he is a jerk. His tests are very hard and does not give partial credit for a little effort. He is a nightmare.
he is a great teacher! His lectures are very clear and he is always willing to help. His tests may be challenging, but it makes the final that much easier.
Don't take his class coz it will b a huge disaster. His lecture notes are helpful, but the homework is way 2 hard, and so r the tests. The final was extremely hard.He is just as bad as he looks. He's probably the worst.Take Prof. Pierce because his tests and quizzes are way too easy & you'll pass class
Do yourself a favor. Avoid this professor if you want a C or better. He is terrible. The only thing in his class which can be helpful is his lecture notes. Tests are hard. Homework isn't worth a lot of pts. Final is hard, too. Make sure he's not your primary or secondary choice.
Do not take this instructor or you'll fail. This inst does not help students. Whenever students ask questions, he makes them feel really bad by ignoring them or even worse, (you could sort of imagine...) The bottom line is "DON'T TAKE HIM!!"
If u hate suprises, then don't take this class. This professor doesn't review anything before the test, so it's like ur going into a class to take a suprise test on what u've learned... he teaches u new stuff a week before the test. HORRIBLE!!!
Do yourself a favour.Dont bother to take him because you'll fail definitely. If your major is Math or Math related, take somebody else. If you have to take him, take notes everyday because it is the only thing which'll help you throughout seemster, nothing else will.
real fast pace. if you need time in learning this guy will mess you up! dont do it!! trust!! but there are the nerds out there that can handle this guy so you want a challenge!! do it!! do it! i hate school !
Best 150A professor. he is willing to help alot. but only problem with him is that he doesn't give partial credits on the test. his lectures are very clear, you will have no questions in your mind after he goes over the stuff. if class has good hw scores, he will drop the lowest test score.

teacher is good with his style, explains well, and goes over yestrdys lecture in the next day, to make sure u knw it...this class is a hard class to begin with, tried to make it easier, but still a hard class...
This is a hard subject and he did a pretty good job of teaching it. Try not to miss any days because if you try to learn it from the book you will be lost because the book sucks. Good teacher.
Tough grader!
tough grader. exams are hard. final is extremely hard. tend to lecture too fast.
Thinks he's always right. Grades insanly hard. Usualy get A's in math every year, first time in my life i got a B. GRADES UNFAIRLY DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. bad personality too, jokes are horrible. Dont take him for any class.
Hard class though he did try to help make it easier to understand. The tests and exams became harder as the term progressed.
Too tough of a class to take over summer. Fair teacher. The final was harder than anticipated.
professor is very hard, grades the way he teaches you; if you dont knw it exactly and dont do the problems excact, then u r pretty much screwed. makes questions tht are 20 points each...DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS U REALLLYYY WANT TO !
mr. arthur's probably one of the best math lecturers i ever had; however, this guy has zero people skills. he's a very tough grader, and even if you come up with the right answers you can still get deductions for not doing it "his" way.
I'm barley on my 6th week with this prof and it is really difficult. Teaches too fast. Good luck if you take him.
the class is too hard, his tests are too hard..and yeh, he lectures too fast..
This guy is unbelieveable. His grading is very incosistant. Overall he is a bad teacher. Very arrogant and in one word, a ****.
alright, pretty much one of the hardest classes i've ever taken. I'm a freshman, and i passed the calculus ab & bc test, thats why i'm in 250A... and god damn this class is hard. the book is seriously a piece of****. mr. arthur lectures very well, but his tests are just too hard. its pretty much 5 problems, 20 points each... good luck

horrible person who hates non majors. only take him if you are good at math because if you're not he will make you feel incredibly stupid for asking any question. he only wants to stroke his ego... i think that's why he's a prof. DON'T TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRED THE CLASS!
This class is super hard!!! Great teacher, willing to help but watch out for final. Final is super difficult, much harder than tests!!!
cake....this class was easy..u just gotta put in the time and stop ****in like everyone else..test's are straight from the homework..same kinds of problems...spend atleast an hour a day doing this stuff and you will do good on the final like i did...
hard class...dont take this class if you passed calc ab in high school...too hard..plus it is his way or the high way...you must do the problem just like he likes it...final is hard...too much memorzing facts and crap...if your strong at math take a shot...i thought i was but i guess not.
class was hard but he's a good professor... he explains the stuff so the students understand it clearly...and all of the tests were hard...
Not my favorite
Very kool professor. Had him for 150B and now taking 250A. Very clear lectures, great class notes, very helpfull. Tests are fair, but when it comes to grading, he is a little.....
i think he's great. clear lectures. take him
I love this guy, I took him for 150B and now for 250 A and I wish he taught 250B. He is very clear and his tests are very fair. You have to study and do the homework but you will learn calculus from him.
This class is hard, but Prof. Arthur is an excellent teacher, probably one of the best at CSUF. I took him for 150B and 250A and wished he taught more math classes. Tests are fair, final is a bit tough. Don't take the class unless you want to work.
i really like his teaching. he tends to go a little fast tho (mayeb cuz we're behind) but overall really good professor. take him
I agree with the comments about him being arrogant. Told me that I should not be in that class. Not helpful at all in office hours.
Very fair teacher. Have to study though. Very clear explanations of subject. No quizzes. HW is average amount. Good teacher overall. I would recommend him.
#1: This guy is a very tedious grader. He's quite the stickler on stupid little points and it may effect your grade. He makes his own tests and puts questions on there that make sure you understand the concept. #2: He is a jerk! He's arrogant and definately impatient with people who aren't quick/good at math. Comments about his big ego are true!
His grading policy is freakin' horrible, and doesn't curve at all. But you'll definitely learn math from him if you are eager to participate in the class..i recommend him..
in response to the other comments... i don't think he's arrogant at all. he's VERY friendly with me and EVERYONE else in the class, and i'm not even a math major. he'll always answer any questions, and he'll do anything to help you. his lectures are very clear. he introduced the material very well, and you'll get great notes from him. GREAT PROF
Tough teacher yes. But you will learn math like no other. Go to class, take notes and study and you will be fine. Take him if you are serious about math! Calculus ISN'T EASY STUFF!!!
This professor is awesome, yes he is tough but you learn math like no other teacher...all you need to do is go to class, take good notes, and study for exams...do all your homework because they are easy points...overall great professor because he knows what he is doing and has a good understanding of math...
SSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO bad not worth taking his class unless you want to fail so just take professor Lewis the best you could ever have.
GREAT PROFESSOR! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. He transformed complex concepts into something so simple. You will definately learn in his class. Attend the lecture, take good notes, and do homework assignment and you will be golden.
I would not recommend this teacher at all. Lectures don't explain much on how to actually do the problems and marks off problems on exams for every little error, even you get the right answer. I dread this class everyday, and I've never had a problem with math before. I would avoid this guy
I highly recomond this teacher if you really want to learn and understand. This was my second time taking him. It's a class you really need to be willing to put some time into.He really knows his stuff and does a very good job explaining very hard concepts. If you show up take good notes and do all the homework you can pass the class
Ok teacher. Marks of ridiculous amount of points on exams if you do something HE doesn't like even though it' has little to do with math. Online HW and Quizzes are pretty easy and kind of fun. He is reluctant to show how to do something in any other way besides his own. Would not recommend.
Mr.Arthur is a decent teacher. He'll try to find different ways to explain a specific topic if you don't understand. However, he is very picky on grading-He will dock off points & prefers his method of solving problems. Homework on WileyPlus are decent;quizzes are easy. Not an easy teacher but you can learn from him.
The class was pretty difficult in the beginning of the semester. His tests and the hw were different formats, but he was a pretty good teacher. Great examples, ended up softening up and curving the class grades, which helped tremendously. This class took effort, but it was manageable.
This guy only likes Math majors so tell him you are one if you want to do well. He does a good job of explaining the material but his tests (esp the final) are REALLY hard and he doesn't give a lot of partial credit. Even if you attend every class and do every hw assignment, you're not guaranteed a good grade.
This professor explains everything extremely well. Honestly, I am not the best at math but his explanations make everything make sense. Another thing, he grades every single detail. Make sure you show your work (preferably the way he teaches) or else you will lose points! I definitely recommend taking his class if you can.
This guy knows his stuff. His lectures are very well structured in such a way that the material makes sense. My only complaint would be that he marks off a lot of points on test. On one test I didn't get a single wrong answer and I still got a 90 for work related marks.
Hands down the best teacher for calculus. He goes straight to business and doesn't go on wild tangents that much. While other teachers would ignore noisy students and people outside the classroom, Arthur would actually do something about the problem. He had taught me so well in 150A that I am doing well in 150B because of him.
Explains material very throughly & makes sure students understand it before moving on, which caused him to play catch up all semester & rush through some topics. HW was online & tests were pretty hard & the final was ridiculously hard. He's really nice & passionate about the subject & enjoys interacting with the students. Very articulate notes.
The Guy gives clear and concise notes, but grades extremely hard. He also isnt all that great at his office hours. Arthur preps his lecture in his office hours which is usually an hour before class.... so you cant ask him to many questions.
Hands down best Calc teacher. Gives great notes and goes really in depth so you know the reason why. office hours are ehh but if u do the workshop 151A u are guaranteed an A or B! Just make sure u listen to how he wants u to write things onthe test
He is an AMAZING teacher. His lectures are very clear and he does several examples. His tests aren't tricky and while the problems themselves aren't difficult, he's a very picky grader. He tells you what he expects on exams, so do the math the way he teaches and you'll be fine. Great prof, definitely recommend him.
He is a "no nonsense" kind of teacher, once class begins, there is no talking or anything. The online homework never really helped me a lot. By the end of the semester I was doing better because I got used to him, but it was too late for my grade. Good teacher, hard class design.
Very straight forward teacher, and teaches you everything you'll need from the class. He'll seem boring but I guarantee you it's just the nature of math/calculus. Besides the important stuff though, make sure to study EVERYTHING. He'll have questions on the more discrete parts on the test worth two letter grades and missing those hurt like hell.
Excellent teacher who teaches clearly, provides sufficient examples, and answers questions(if he's not trying to make a point in lecture). Most hw is online, but there is a bit of book work. Of course, this class is hard because it's calculus. It's a good idea to ask how he would want math problems to be done on the tests. Had his 10AM class!
This guy always asks if the entire class understands after a short burst of lecturing. He also expects someone to place some input into his lectures. When no one bothers to say anything, he will look at the entire class in disgust. So I suggest participating at every moment possible. This class is very easy if homework is completed after lecture.
Arthur is a great professor, he really knows his stuff and can teach it very well, this class is difficult in the sense that the concepts are difficult but the math is easy. i would take him again, try to take an afternoon class rather than a morning class with him; he's more lively in the afternoon. his exams are VERY fair, and no quizzes.
His lectures are straight forward. Homework was done online. His exams are straight forward. I never needed to go to office hours but he would always answers questions in class.
He's an extremely fast lecturer, and his lectures become confusing even when preparing before. 3 exams and a final, each exam is %20 of the grades and the final is %23. No extra credit. Attendance isn't mandatory, if you miss the entire semester and just attend the 3 exams and final and do the online HW you can get an A. no quizes also.
He goes wayyy to fast. he def. knows wgat he is talking about but grades wayyyyyy to hard. take someone alse if you want a good grade. take him if you actually want to learn but will get a bad grade.
Dr. Arthur really knows his stuff. However, when he lectures he goes too fast and at times will not stop to to explain some of the work he has done which can be confusing when you want to know how he got the answer. Weekly homework, one page research paper, but majority percentage of grade are the 4 exams and the final.
Great professor. His lectures are straight forward and very detailed. If you are a slow learner, then do not take this class. Exams are tough, but as long as you do the exact format of how he solves problems in class, then you'll do fine. It isn't impossible to get an A in the class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to pass, go to class.
He's the toughest professor I have ever taken. I've never had a problem wmath before, he makes it hard whis confusing & extremely fast lectures. He's EXTREMELY HARD GRADER. Three tests and one final. No quizzes and no extra credit.
Like the other people have said, Professor Arthur is a really tough professor! He marks you off for the most smallest thing ever on the exams. In the end, those tiny points that you lost could add up. + professor Arthur expects you to solve problem his way on the exam, if you don't solve problems his way, you get marked off.
This course consists of WebAssign homework, 3 exams, and 1 final exam Students have plenty of time to complete the WebAssign homework. The 3 exams consists of the simplest questions from the assigned homework. The final exam review helps students know what exactly to study. Built in curve (A 100% - 87%). George Arthur is a wonderful professor!
George Arthur is great! He really knows his stuff and is accessible for help during office hours. Go to him for help, really try, and he will like you. He is a fair professor. He won't mark an entire problem wrong for one mathematical error. Bring questions to class to. The two or three minutes before class he always answers homework problems.
You have to work for the grade you want. I struggled very hard but by asking questions and developing study groups I passed. Make sure you manage your time wisely on exams or it could hurt you in the long run. His class has a set curve which he lowered a bit but not a lot and he will not lower it drastically so keep an eye on your grade.
He's honestly a really great professor. His lectures may be fast paced depending on the person, but he gives lots of examples to make up for it. He can be quite a tough grader as he wants you to do the work the way he does it, so you'll do well if you can do that.
Specific in his lectures! Gives a lot of examples that are really close to what he would put on the exams. Make sure you do homework when it's assigned.
I don't recommend anyone to take this class here's why. Their is only 1 midterm and 1 final. Also his class is very difficult compared to other professors I taken. In fact the class average for the first exam scores in the spring semester when I took it was 55%. Next he is very picky in his exams. If you don't write out all steps you get an 0.
Okay, so for 50 minutes, he does as much as he can. Most professors that teach 50 minute courses streamline the lecture notes in downloadable files, he does not. He really knows his stuff, and spends all class writing on the board. Effectively, there is almost no time for questions during class, and the homework is assigned online. Good luck!
He is so far the best math professor I have had at CSUF. He really understands what he is doing and almost always teaches w/out looking at notes. His exam problems are always very similar to class examples and homework. He was very kind and did not put any hard integration into his exams such as trig sub. Go to class or else you will struggle later
Bro taking calc3 with this professor was really bad idea. I took it because I got transferred late, so I didnt have any choice. Although, my grade was B in calc 2 I got C because of the terrible teaching method. He writes to fast and you barely understand what he is saying and very strict at grading. Really terrible professor. Dont do my mistake.
There's a lot of material in this class. The calculus series are difficult but having him as a professor really makes this class tough. He is really thorough and speedy in lectures. The HW is easy but the exams are extremely hard! The final is based off of EVERYTHING. You can be really smart but lose lots of points on the exam. I wouldn't suggest
Taken during Covid-19 pandemic. There are no quizzes in his classes, grade is based on exams, hw, and the final. He is a very good lecturer, and includes puns from time to time to lighten the mood. When the class went virtual, it became very tough with the online lectures having too many simple problems. He uses Cengage's WebAssign.
If you get his class, drop it now or else you will suffer. His lecture is great but his exams are extremely hard. There are T/F so you need to take pictures of his sketches and study it. I don't recommend take his class. If there are no other choices then good luck to you. You need to study hard.
Took this professor during virtual learning and it was not a pleasant experience. His lectures felt like a waste, his test were difficult, and he just was not the nicest guy. Prepare to work for your grade but he will curve according to the class performance.
took professor arthur through virtual learning and it was honestly one of the hardest math classes I've ever taken. although he doesn't take attendance, you must go to the lectures unless you want to fail the class. he also wasn't as understanding as most professors.
He was very good professor. Clear lecture, great help during office hours and was caring. Calculus II is difficult class, but given more effort I could have gotten A. It's really about the practice.
Homework allowed a weeks time to do, but exams are 60% of grade with no retakes (making up an exam is a paradox to him?) Rushes through course material and personally felt lack of understanding.
I really liked Mr. Arthur. His lectures are fast-paced and you definitely have to be able to take detailed notes and know how to study, but his exams are fair-almost exactly like the examples you go over in class. Doing homework is good prep for exams. He is very helpful in office hours. seems intense because of amount of material but good prof!
He is knowledgeable on the topics. Grade consists of homework and exams, thats it. Exams are similar to lecture and homework. Overall a good professor but the course is difficult. Show up to EVERY class and pay attention! Take notes on the lectures! Study problems from the notes and memorize the formulas and understand how they work.
Didnt pass because I missed 2 weeks for my honeymoon, but I wouldnt take any other math professor at CSUF
I hate this class so much. Even on exam days he continues to lecture and gives terrible breaks from 4 minutes to 10 for a two hour class. He is really old school. Not suited for the new generation of teaching.
Professor Arthur was probably one of the best calc 3 professors in this campus. He really knows the material and is always willing to go over any explanation to make sure you understand the concepts. His lectures do go by kinda fast so you will be writing at a rapid pace, but his explanation are always clear. His test are more than fair.
Lectures are fast-paced but if you show up to class everyday and take notes, you will be fine. The test questions are typically the easier practice problems he goes over in class. If you take notes, do the homework, and put in a bit of time outside of class, you will do good :) But there are only 2-3 "midterms" and 1 final so be prepared!
Not done with the course yet, but wanted to say that out of all math teachers, George Arthur has been the best so far. He is the first math professor where I haven't gotten super confused during lectures. He makes it clear exactly when he is applying prior calc 1 and 2 knowledge so I don't feel insane or lost when going over new concepts.
A pretty OK class overall. Lectures felt extremely fast-paced and I felt like I didn't retain the material well enough because of said fast lectures throughout the semester. He's also very picky with grading tests; All work done on tests must be done the way he shows it in his lectures. However, his test material is more than fair if you study.
No quizzes; grades are based on 3 exams and a final. My only complaint is his fast teaching and his exams are only 50 minutes long whereas most other teachers give you the entire class time, so many students do poorly because of that. Take the class if you are fast during exams, but other than that, I recommend someone else.
He's a good professor and he's clear about what he expects. He prohibited ipads from my lecture. Also, he doesn't accept the use of tabular integration which kinda sucks because I used it on my test and didn't get credit, but to be fair, I didn't ask him if I was allowed to use it beforehand. Other than that, he's a great professor.
Incredibly boring and old-school. Doesn't even give half of the time in class to complete an exam which results in the majority of the class failing.
Really terrible stay away from this guy. Does a bad job of engaging students, works of off the whiteboard but literally blocks the board every single time. He also is not respectful at all for students time, as he tends to hold class back for 3-5 minutes, but will complain if you leave a minute early. He is also super picky about how he grades.
Hw is from the online textbook. Can be very uptight and not easy to get along with if you get on his bad side. Lecture is breakneck-speed fast and heavy. Be prepared to put hours upon hours of studying for this class, if you never had calculus before.
No absolute late homework. The class is super boring and sleepy, imagine listening to a radio for almost 2 hours. He's very unclear. No extra credit is given and you have only 50 minutes to finish 10 hard problems. Grading is hard for little things. Honestly, Cal 2 is not that crazy but this guy makes it so with his old style.
Attend all lectures so you can do the homework which will help your grade significantly. This will also help for the test, which he does grade tough except the final. Take advantage of the office hours he provides as this will help for tests and homework
Do not take this professor. You are better off taking this course with someone else or at a community college. He is awful, cannot teach to save his life. Spends the majority of class being unfunny, unhelpful, and blocks the board so students cannot copy the problems. Also tends to run late to class which is very unprofessional.
This professor is an unfair grader, he is a sticker for formatting and signs. He will give you points off if you use arrows instead of equal signs and if he does agree with your formatting. He gets upset if you tell him you are getting help outside of him because he sees it as "disrespectful" and only his way is the right way. He isn't on your side
hes good trust. exam questions were really fair and honestly the questions were pretty basic. just go to class and study the hw questions and the examples on the board and you'll be fine
The homework is harder than his exams, he gives very fair test questions that are easier than the homework. Pay attention in the lectures as that helps. For the final, study your previous exams and what you got wrong, that is the best way to prepare. No formula sheet allowed except for the final, which does help immensely. He is worth it.
He really knows Calculus 2 well and I'd say he teaches it well except for the fact that he blocks the whiteboard with his own body a lot of the time. A lot of professors now just annotate their paper/iPad on the projector, but oh well. The tests are slightly simpler than the problems on the online homework (paid).
Mr. Arthur was an excellent calculus professor. He did not assign any quizzes because he does not like quizzes. He was friendly. I was fortunate to have him for MATH 150B.
JUST AVOID HIM, your grade is based on exams and finals (they are super hard by the way) his notes are terrible and he doesn't help or reply to emails on time
Funny guy, terrible course structure. Exams are barley similar to the hw, very harsh grader. Curves and rounds up grades a pretty generous amount. You have to pay is heft mandatory fee for the online HW. If you really need this course but there aren't any better teachers just take business calculus instead.
He gives out a lot of homework and is pretty strict when it comes to taking the exams and doing them the same way he did them in class. He lectures during class the entire time, which can sometimes be a little boring. He is available after class and during office hours to help you with a homework problem. The Hw is harder than the Exams he gives.
This professor has a specific teaching style that can be challenging. Lectures move quickly, and tests are graded strictly. However, engaging with the textbook and using study tools like Unstuck study can help you succeed. Overall, a manageable but demanding course.
Class had 3 tests and 1 final exam that made up over 80% of the grade, with hw the rest. He is good at explaining concepts but goes fast sometimes. He gives one piece of homework for each part of the chapters covered in class. The tests were easier than the homework, but for sure take time with hw to do better on tests. Study old tests for final.
He is a great Professor, and the better the professor the more respect they demand. He has rules and any interference will get you publicly scolded. I've sent him multiple apology emails for different incidents (I am not a normally bad student). His class is hard. But so is every Calculus class. You will need to study, 4 hours a week for me.
Tests make up most of your grade and he doesn't do quizzes. His homework can be tough, but the test questions are easier than the homework. His lectures are done on a whiteboard which means that he will sometimes block your view. He is more lenient on the final test as it is cumulative. Figure out how he wants the questions answered on the test!!!
Great Prof, but his lectures can be abit boring and long sometimes. He gives all hw on webassign and can easily be ChapGPTed, though I wouldnt rec using AI for hw. The tests he gives are easier than the HW. If you can do the hw then you will ace the tests. He is a very tough grader so show ALL work on the tests. 3 tests and 1 final(combo of tests)
For our class he wasn't a tough grader but the math was still hard. Most of the information he covers over lecture are relevent towards his exams. ALSO this class is Exam heavy so you should be ready to really study. Overall you need to put in the effort to pass this class but it's not impossible.
