Nice professor, just wants his students to learn Accounting. Not particularly bad, but not an exceptional professor either.
the professor has very unclear teaching criteria, large portions of the assigned homework, quizzes, and tests are glossed over/not even addressed in class. he clearly has good intentions, but is simply not good at providing a sense of direction or certainty for students.
Super inexperienced professor. Book + Slides does not cover the exam. Tons of mistakes in the slides. Exams are totally not fair as it does not completely cover the things we learn. He's super unorganized. Does not give you anything to study off of. The book is absolutely horrible since it has 500 pages of useless information. Absolutely avoid.
studying doesn't affect your grade in this class???? prof sometimes doesn't understand what he's talking about, so I GUESS there's no correlation between attendance and your grade either. $200 textbook is rife with errors. enjoy :)
It's literally impossible to study for this class. The material is not difficult, but the professor literally doesn't teach half of the exam material. The overpriced textbook has so much irrelevant info that is never covered, and unlike in 280, hard work doesn't mean anything since test qs/answers are worded so specifically. You learn nothing.
Textbook is overpriced and has tons of errors, Prof. Braunegg never teaches the homework material before its due, so you self study everything in this class. AVOID
Nice guy but terrible Professor. He fails to explain anything and hardwork and attendance has no correlation with good grades. He admits that the tests are terrible yet he does nothing. A nice guy but maybe not the best Professor
He models his class after Rose Layton. That was his biggest mistake. This is his first semester teaching this class so he has a lot to improve on but he cares for his students! Hw and the midterms don't match up because it's not his midterms. Layout is 3 quizzes (easy), 2 midterms, 1 final, and a group project. Little hw. Give him a chance.
He is a very nice guy but I would not recommend to take him as an Accounting professor. This professor often cannot answer the questions you have for the course. He loses his train of thought frequently and could not provide a useful answer. I struggled to learn from him.
A genuinely nice guy. First semester teaching undergrad so he had to use another professor's tests (which were awful). Really does just want students to succeed. Pretty funny to boot.
Professor Braunegg is a really caring, super nice guy with great intentions. Hes a new professor, so hes still learning the ropes, but I would absolutely take his class again. Definitely recommend taking his class over other 281 professors. Prepare for exams, do the homework and youll be fine in the class. Hes a super helpful, lighthearted guy.
it's great that he's nice, funny, and caring. however, he is simply not a great professor and has trouble working out his own problems in class (especially later in the semester). he uses materials from prof. Layton, which would be useful if he taught his class exactly as she does, but unfortunately the sections aren't identical. textbook is awful.
Simply cannot verbally teach any material. Slides incoherent and unable to be followed. Textbook is not in sync with professor. Mistakes on literally every problem he makes. Does not admit fault because people still do well; however in reality this is because people are using tutors or teaching themselves. Such a valuable course, not a good prof.
Ive read the negative comments, yeah there were issues with the books problem solutions being incorrect but Professor Braunegg went out of his way to make sure we understood the material. He was always available via email to answer questions or during his office hours. Hes a great guy and really wants his students to understand the material.
Professor Braunegg is an amazing teacher and makes sure his students understand the material. The negative comments here are due to the difficulty of the course and the textbook NOT THE PROFESSOR. If anything, in every single lecture the textbook problems had errors in the solutions and Braunegg did his best to explain the correct solutions.
It was a tough course but Professor Braunegg and his TA were always available to answer my questions. If you attend class, do the homework and pay attention to the topics the Professor emphasizes in class you will do well. I learned today that I earned an A in the class.
While this class is NOT EASY, an A is definitely manageable IF you go outside of class for extra help. Professor brought jokes, humor, and passion to each of his lectures. While topics can be tricky to understand, he and his TA are EXTREMELY accessible outside class and are more than willing to help.
Do not bother buying a textbook. People are upset that they spent 200 dollars on a textbook that didn't give them an "A". If you go to Braunegg, he will go out of his way to call you to make sure you understand the material. Although he uses another teacher's tests, he is kind, cracks jokes in class, and is actually interested in you as a student
I attended every class. He and his TA are VERY accessible during office hours. Hell even talk to you about SLPs (for accounting majors) and accounting as a career. He also posts all the PowerPoint slides so if you have to miss class you can go back and review. The Marshall curve makes it hard but I got an A.
Professor Braunegg is a really nice guy whos passionate about accounting. The information he conveyed through lecture slides was easy to understand and the tests and quizzes were very straight forward. Good choice compared to other accounting professors
He was so caring and really wanted the students to understand. He did struggle a little, but the textbook used for this class makes it so hard for him to succeed. It often had wrong answers and did not make any sense. I think with proper course material, he would be an amazing professor. He really really cares about his students.
Professor Braunegg does his best to make 281 enjoyable and worthwhile. He is transitioning as a teacher after decades in industry, meaning he has insights into what material is actually applicable to business. Braunegg makes expectation clear and always offers support outside of lecture. Very manageable class.
Professor Braunegg is one of the most caring professors that understands the plight of students. He offers pragmatic insight into the field with his experience in accounting. Even though the book we used this year was terrible, Braunegg still tried his best to teach us and did a great job trying to compensate for textbook errors. Would recommend!
Braunegg is an amazing professor. He is extremely caring and funny! 281 is naturally confusing for some people but Braunegg makes the extra effort to help you understand. He's also extremely approachable and understanding. The tests are not too hard and Braunegg grades much better than any other profs. Highly recommended! Attendance not required.
Professor Braunegg really helped me understand 281 by making extra efforts both in and out of class. He tailored the class to focus on real world examples and made sure his tests reflected this focus. I had a great semester and would highly recommend his class to anyone taking 281.
One of the best professors I've had at USC. He's hilarious, clear & insightful during lectures and tells you everything you need to know for exams. No tricks. He truly cares about all his students, and provides additional help outside of class (even answering questions via phone). Go to office hours and get to know him! Can't recommend him enough.
One of the most genuine and caring accounting professors. Willing to go the extra mile to help you understand and feel prepared. Wide breath of industry knowledge. recommend reading the book and doing the homework because lectures were often too fast or not very cohesive. Sometimes he struggled to articulate material but zero tricks on the tests
Truly nice man, very willing to help with any issues or anything that supports your learning. Fast lectures but if you come prepared with the readings and homework done you will do just fine. New to teaching but seriously invested in your success and has a great depth of industry knowledge. if you're willing to do the work, this is the best teacher
This is a difficult class, but the professor really takes the time to help every student learn and get through it. If you go to office hours and put the time in, he will make the extra effort to make sure you succeed as well! Very caring and attentive.
Professor Braunegg is one of the most genuine, caring and accessible teachers I've had. I would definitely recommend him above any other professor for 281.
I've learned SO MUCH from Professor Braunegg and his class. He cuts down the irrelevant materials and always goes the extra mile to show students how the knowledge is applied in practice. He really helped me gain a deeper insight into the industry. Tests are very straightforward. If you pay attention to his lectures, you'll ace the tests.
Professor Braunegg is one of the best professors at Marshall. He is very caring and approachable, and he is willing to help every student. The lectures are straightforward, and he posts all the slides for you to study. The slides are comprehensible and clear. The tests are easy as long as you follow what he teaches in class. High recommend him!
Professor Braunegg was by far one of the best professors I have had at USC. His lectures were informative and easy to understand. His power points were always to the point. In addition, he reviewed assigned homework and made sure that his students knew how to prepare for the exams. He genuinely cares about his students and always held office hours.
The course load for 281 is overall pretty heavy, but prof Braunegg helps make the class more clear on what needs to be completed, and makes sure you understand the homework step by step.
Professor Braunegg made BUAD 281 interesting and understandable. His lectures were both informative and entertaining which made it easier to attend the morning classes although it was not mandatory. Although the class has a decent amount of homework, it is extremely helpful and the professor is willing to assist at anytime in any way possible.
Professor Brauegg really tries to make class interesting and engaging, and overall, he's just a really good guy. Outside of class, he is very accessible. It is very clear that he cares a lot for his students and that he really wants everyone to succeed. You are going to have to put in the work, but he will help you as much as he can along the way.
Professor Braunegg is one of the best professors in all of Marshall. Actually interested in his students, he always tries his best to help. Very approachable and very accessible outside of class. He doesn't take attendance, but I would highly recommend going to every class. 281 is not an easy course and will require effort. Awesome professor!
Professor Braunegg is a very approachable, kind professor. The material itself can be challenging for some but Professor Braunegg is very considerate and willing to go the extra mile to help students who reach out to him. 2 midterms 1 group project and 1 final, all not too difficult as Professor Braunegg details the important topics to study.
Braunegg is a super nice guy, and he is very enthusiastic during class. I feel like at times, he was trying to solve problems during class while he was supposed to be explaining it to us, which made it seem like he didn't know what he was doing. He is a new teacher, so with time, he will be solid. If you study, the class is not hard honestly.
dear lord he must be on this website writing these reviews about himself LMAOO. worst teacher ive had at usc (and I got an A- so you know im not just mad about a grade) getting him to work out practice problems on the board was legit like pulling teeth . homework was insanely difficult and time consuming. learned everything from the book w out him
Professor Braunegg is an amazing teacher and makes Accounting really enjoyable and simple to understand. He places emphasis on the topics you need to know and common mistakes for you to avoid. Make sure to keep up with the readings and practice problem-solving questions a lot.
I really enjoyed Professor Brauneggs class. He was always willing to help with difficult homework problems and gave my group a lot of guidance in our group project. Managerial accounting can be a confusing subject but he made the transition from financial accounting very manageable.
Cares a lot about the class and the students and puts a lot of effort into teaching the course. Nothing unexpected or overly demanding as far as material - just stay on top of everything and you will do fine. 281 isn't overly complicated content and he does a good job of making it straightforward.
Great professor. George is reasonable, fair, his expectations are clear, and he doesn't try to trick students at all. Very personable and respectful, really cares about his students as he is always willing to listen to feedback and help students in any way he can. Learned a lot, he does a great job of covering a lot of material in a half semester.
Braunegg made the transition to online class as easy as possible for students and was incredibly open about what he expected of us for tests and the group project. I felt lucky to have him bc my friends' teachers weren't as communicative. He is genuine and cares a lot about not only the subject but also, how applicable the material is to life.
Professor Braunegg was my favorite Marshall professor! The course consisted of weekly homework, a group project, and exams so the work load was a bit heavy but the homework helped a lot with exams so it was useful. He cares a lot about his students and makes lectures as interesting. Tests are straightforward and based off of homework and lecture.
Professor Braunegg was a solid Professor for managerial accounting, he taught things in the most clear ways and made sure that his tests reflected that. I was never frustrated with the material even when it was a little challenging. He adapted to zoom class pretty well with a few technical hiccups, but hes definitely a great choice for BUAD 281!
Professor Braunegg is great! He is approachable, hilarious, and enthusiastic about accounting. He makes himself available to students outside of class, and takes a genuine interest in their career aspirations. Midterms/Final are based on homework and lectures. Straightforward grading criteria. Definitely recommend taking his BUAD 281 class!
I fortunately was able to receive an A, but thats because I worked ridiculously hard for it. I think hes really clear with his grading criteria and his tests come straight from the HW + slides, but going to class didnt seem as mandatory given it wasnt as engaging as I would have liked. Overall though, I still liked him a lot and would recommend
Braunegg is super connected and a great professor to have in your network. His slides are clear and reflect what is on the test. Great class!
Professor Braunegg is a great prof! He really cares about his students and making sure they understand what's going on. He offered his help even when he wasn't on campus. He was very accommodating when we transitioned to online classes because of COVID. Sometimes lectures can be boring if you're not interested in accounting, but overall great prof
Braunegg is a great accounting professor. Theres online connect hw (like all 281) and 3 exams. He takes the time to go through all the online homework IN CLASS and explains the material for us to know. His exams are very straightforward and I found them to be pretty easy as long as you pay attention/do the hw. I highly recommend him!!!
Professor Braunegg is a solid choice for 281! Tests are based on homework and he has slides & extra problems to help you prepared. He was very accommodating when we moved online and truly cares about students' success. Lectures were boring at first but he is willing to take students' comments to make changes. Overall not a hard class and take him!
He's a very kind man, though a bit scrambled at times. There were issues throughout the semester that showed that he wasn't on top of the technology, but it all worked out. The homework is pretty tedious and long but the tests are very similar to that. He's a beekeeper and invited students out to go see his bees!
Professor Braunegg is such a great man and professor. He explains everything very clearly, and you can tell he knows his stuff and has a lot of real-life experience. I worked hard for this class and he even reached out to me personally at the end of the semester congratulating me for scoring an A. There is no better professor for 281.
Great dude who makes an effort. all BUAD 281 sessions have lots of hws, impossible to avoid. But overall, his class is definitely manageable and possible to get an A.
Professor Braunegg serves as a great mentor and teacher for this course and for practical application of the curriculum. Very approachable and invested in the success of his students. He related course material to why and how it is significant in the business world and gave direct examples relating to his company. Recommend Braunegg !
Such a kind professor that truly cares about your success in the class. In addition to his support during class, he also was extremely willing to help me with schedule planning outside of class. Highly recommend as a class that teaches you a ton in a low stress, supportive environment.
Very genuine, honest, and helpful. the course design was straightforward, but was not easy. I still learned a lot and had a good experience.
Awesome professor. 281 is not easy but he does a good job of covering everything you need to know in order to succeed for this class. He is very caring and wants the best for his students. Always accessible and available for his students outside of class.
Professor Braunegg is very knowledgeable about anything related to accounting and makes the rather dry course material pretty interesting. Lectures are easy to follow, homework is directly related to tests, and exams aren't bad at all. Braunegg sets you up to succeed. Genuinely a great guy.
Professor Braunegg made a clear effort to provide students with all they needed to succeed in the class. Lectures are accompanied by engaging slides and tests and quizzes were reflective of the homework. Overall a straight-forward class that I would recommend!
All HW is Connect. Before every single class, you have 1-2 HW due. Theyre really lengthy and dont translate to exams, except for formulas used. CompileAFormulaSheet! Class seems easy until multiple formulas and equations roll over into different ones and you gotta unscramble 4-5 bits and parts of formulas per prob and have to rush big time
I wish I had the opportunity to take his class in person because he was so kind, passionate, and helpful. He always put together nice PowerPoints with accounting fun facts and jokes. Really great guy, his reviews should be even better.
He is a super chill professor who loves teaching! He is a great person to talk to if you want to go into consulting or accounting!
Braunegg is a really cool guy. He clearly cares about his students, their understanding, and bees. Honestly, just keep current with the readings, do all the homework, and you should be fine. He does a great job of adding a deeper understanding to what you'll be reading/learning. Funny jokes sometimes, I'm sure his charm comes across more in person.
Prof. B is the man! Super chill guy. Exams are simple and based off of the homework. The Connect quizzes are a pain but nothing that other accounting profs don't dish out. His lectures are straightforward and have fun graphics and jokes. I bet he's a blast in person. His bow tie collection is a plus. Take him!!!
Prof. Braunegg is a great professor! He is extremely approachable outside of class and you can tell he loves to teach. The homework and projects as well as his lectures all related directly to the exams, and he included a lot of useful industry information in his lectures. Great class and I definitely recommend Prof. Braunegg!
Professor Braunegg is very straightforward and fair in his teaching. He has a lot of experience which he uses to share advice to students. The jokes of the day are not always funny but its nice that he includes them every class. HW is mainly Connect and then one group project. Wish I couldve taken this class in person!
Amazing professor. Very passionate about teaching, does it well, and has tons of relevant career experience. Extremely accessible outside of class, and really just wants to see his students do well. Take him if you get the chance.
Professor Braunegg is such a caring and supportive professor. He truly cares for his students and is willing to help his students. There are 3 tests, a final and a group project. He prepares you for the exams. Its a hard class but he makes it interesting!
I would highly recommend Prof. Braunegg over any other managerial accounting professor. He is extremely passionate and has a wide breadth of experience outside of the classroom as well. The lectures are very well organized and are reflective of tests. One of my favorite professors thus far.
Prof. Braunegg is a great choice for 281! He has very clear expectations on assignments, and his homework on Connect were similar questions to the exams. Braunegg is super knowledgeable in the subject and was very easy to approach and always available to help. I would definitely recommend taking his class for 281
Prof. Braunegg is an amazing professor, super genuine and a really down to earth guy. Very accessible outside of class and will make time outside office ours if you need help. 3 tests, a final, and a group project. Tests are tough but manageable if you review the practice problems. Project largely depends on the team. Overall highly recommend!
Great professor, really makes sure you understand the concepts and tries to make it interesting. There is a lot of homework which is how you get the hands on practice needed to pass the exams. The course has a lot of exams but he takes extra time to make sure you know what's going to be covered. I would definitely take Prof Braunegg again.
He is so caring and easy to reach outside of class. I did not do well in one of my midterm and he reached out to me to give out some advices for studying the final. His expectations of the class were clearly stated and himself, was highly organized in terms of handout, project rubrics, and lectures powerpoint.
Professor Braunegg is a great professor. His lectures are very thorough and makes BUAD 281 interesting. He's also very nice and goes out of his way to help you succeed. A great professor and an even greater person.
Professor Braunegg is super kind, thoughtful, and has a great sense of humor. His tests were reflective of his lectures and there were never any surprises. Hes always willing to provide support if you need it. Final was also similar to the previous midterms, so use those to study!
Professor Braunegg was a great accounting professor, especially for managerial accounting. I will note, make sure to pay close attention to lecture and partake in in-class exercises
Prof. Braunegg starts every class off with a joke and trivia question. Thats the kind of prof he is. He has a sense of humor and is a nice guy. He makes plenty of real life examples and has interesting experience/connections of his own. The exams really aren't difficult. Just put in effort (show up to class and do the work) and you will do well.
Professor Braunegg is a great professor! I did bad on the 1st midterm but Professor Braunegg went over it with me and gave me tips for the next one & I ended up getting an A- in the class. He cares about all of his students and is so nice. Take his class you wont regret it!!
Lectures were both informative and entertaining (joke of the day). Really great professor who cared about his students doing well. Always offered extra review sessions before midterms/final and was available for office hours.
Professor Braunegg is really nice and responsible for all the questions related to schoolwork.
Professor Braunegg is literally a gem! He's super accessible outside of class and really wants his students to succeed. He also draws on real-life examples to make the concepts easier to be understood. You'll get a good grade if you put in the time and Professor makes great exams that are not meant to trick you. Take him if you can!!!!
Professor Braunegg is an amazing professor. You can't really change the difficulty of this class but he teaches it in a very understanding way. He also makes sure to be accessible as much as possible at all times outside of class, and really cares about our performance and understanding of the content. Make sure to take him for 281
Professor Braunegg is one of the best professors I've had at USC. He really cares about his students and their feedbacks. He had put in so much effort trying to make the class both fun and useful. The class itself is challenging, but the professor tries his best to prepare you for the exams. Take him by all means!
He is very passionate to the field he is teaching. I could tell that he makes the effort and does a lot of preparation for both class materials and teaching style to trigger our interests in accounting. Class group project is interesting and practical. 2 midterms and the final were similar to the practice tests.
By attending one of his lectures, it is clear that Professor Braunegg really wants his students to learn AND get good grades at the same time. Straight-forward homework, midterm, team project, and final. If you attend at least 80% of the lectures and complete all the assignments, exams are straight-forward and will be no problem.
Goated Professor. Lectures are pretty easy to follow and made the class fairly interesting. Would avoid using the textbook and stick to his slides. Redoing slide examples, Connect HW, and assigned pre-exam questions are sure-fire ways of doing well. Pretty accessible outside of class and a really accomplished individual to learn from.
George is a fantastic professor and teaches a straightforward course. Attendance is not factored into grading, but if you pay attention each class and keep up with the homework there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A. Group project is pretty standard for a Marshall class. Textbook is helpful, but you can easily get away with not reading it.
Enjoyed his class was really helpful outside of class with any questions on test or homework. Great choice for taking BUAD 281!
Professor Braunegg is great! His lecture slides are super informative and he is great at breaking down concepts. He sometimes goes off on tangents, but he is very knowledgeable in his field of work and is generally pretty funny. Also, he is super nice and really cares about his students! Highly recommend him.
Prof. Braunegg is the best professor I have ever had! I really had a great time in his class. The lecture is intriguing and well-explained. He has a great passion in teaching and caring about students. Grading is pretty clear, work not too bad, mainly group projects with a few tests. He will help you out if you need it. Highly recommend!
Professor Braunegg was great! He had useful lectures and kept things interesting with trivia. The grading is super straight forward and he is always there to help out/answer questions if you need him. Take him for 281!
Great professor, really made an effort to make his lectures funny and interesting.
It's useless to go lectures... But at least he gave enough practice exams which you can self learn.
Professor Braunegg really cares for his students and conveys the material in engaging ways. I enjoyed going to class and hearing accounting question and joke of the day. While accounting is not my best subject, the Poll Everywhere in class, additional practice problems, and final review session were helpful when studying for exams. Rewarding class!
Professor Braunegg is a fantastic professor who truly cares about his students. He is always looking for feedback on how to make his lectures most productive. Financial Accounting can sometimes be tricky but he goes above and beyond to make sure his students succeed. Participate and attend lecture. I would most definitely take his class again!
Professor Braunegg is an outstanding professor. He approached teaching the concepts in multiple ways to ensure that students had the best understanding of the material. His lectures were constructed very well, and the lecture slides were easy to understand and a great resource to study. Overall, I highly recommend his class.
Professor Braunegg is an outstanding professor! The requirements for the class are very clear, and the concepts are always thoroughly explained in lectures. There are no surprises on tests and Professor Braunegg clearly articulates what to expect for exams. Overall, I highly recommend taking Professor Braunegg for BUAD 281!
Professor Braunegg is a gem for the accounting department!! His lectures while usually boring are well constructed and always a feature a joke of the day. Also his past experience running a firm was insightful for the real business world. He was also super accommodating when I got covid and always provides a practice problems before tests. A+++++
Professor Braunegg is definitely the best choice for BUAD 281. Made the expectations very clear early, and even when I had a question about my grade specifically, he was very open to talking to me 1 on 1 and explaining where and how I stood. Also gave a lot of practice guides and tests for his exams. Overall great experience.
Three tags are so limited to describe how excellent professor Braunegg is! He is literally one of the best professors I have ever taken at USC. His slides have all the information you need for exams. Interesting lectures. Super nice, approachable, and flexible. Extremely caring for his students. Overall, take his classes, you won't regret it!!
Like the last review said, he is not very kind or caring. Frankly, he is mean. If you email him for help or with a question, he will send a curt and aggressive response. He is condescending and makes rude comments. E.g., he said "if you can't solve this problem, you need to see a neurologist." Study guides for exams, but the exams are much harder.
All those 5 star ratings are clearly him writing reviews for himself. Notice they were all written within the same/a few days, and follow the same format. This guy is mean and unaccommodating.
I can't say Prof. Braunegg is my favorite prof ever, but considering he is teaching Accounting, he does a great job. Its not a glamorous subject but he does his best to keep lectures interesting. The class is well outlined/he and TAs are accessible. Exams are straightforward - just skim the book and do the connect hw
This guy's exam is extremely hard. The average is around 60%. Many students were even below 50%. He basically just read slides during whole class without teaching any calculations. But all his hw are calculations. And the exam is totally a different format compared to hw and practice exam.
I have found him to be a caring professor who genuinely wants to see his students succeed. This is not an easy class but it is doable. The material must be reviewed on your own on top of classes as there is a lot to know. provides study materials and if you do them a few times without errors, you should be solid for the exams!
Professor Braunegg is a caring professor who looks out for the best of his students. Although his exams are difficult, he provides many practice problems, homework, and preparation to help get you ready in every way possible. His classes always stay interesting with a "joke of the day" and you can see he has a genuine passion for teaching.
Professor Braunegg really cares about his students and does his best to make us laugh and enjoy an otherwise difficult course. If you are looking for an easy 1.5 credit elective with little work, then this class isn't for you. However if you do find yourself struggling, Prof Braunegg can help tailor your studying and help guide you to success.
He is an incredible teacher! The content is definitely challenging, but he does an amazing job of making it interesting and engaging. From my experience at USC, a lot of teachers don't care about their students, but when they do it changes your entire experience. Bruanegg is one of the few! I got a C+ and still really like him, which says a lot!!
The professor was clear on his expectations of the class. The class is similar to advanced accounting with a couple of new topics. The outside speakers he brought in were amazing and extremely knowledgeable. Although exams are challenging, as long as you study, you will do well in them. After taking thus class, I am more interested in M&A.
Fantastic professor. Easy to do well if you keep up with class.
Although the actual course content was difficult and I did not perform as well on exams as I wanted, Prof Braunegg is not only a great professor but an even better person. He went above and beyond in making sure we understood the content and was very accessible in and out of the class. I would highly encourage students to take Braunegg's class(es).
After taking the final, I feel like I have a better overall understanding of how this class is. I felt that all exams were hard BUT definitely doable. In order to do well, you must memorize the formulas and understand concepts since you will be piecing together about 3-4 different concepts and formulas in order to be able to solve one question.
Professor Braunegg has very clear expectations from his students and is extremely knowledgeable in the M&A field. He is always available for help and can guide you through difficult concepts during office hours and after class. In general, if you study the book, do practice problems, and listen to the lectures, the class is very manageable.
Professor Braunegg is a phenomenal teacher! By far the best prof I have had at Marshall. His lectures are engaging and humorous. He wants you to succeed in the class and gives you all the help you need. Lots of practice problems and tests to help you study. Would highly recommend this class to anyone!
Professor Braunegg was outstanding. While BUAD 281 can be challenging, Braunegg does his absolute best to help students succeed. Furthermore, his professional experience - both in consulting and his education at USC - adds a depth of insight that is rarely seen by others. Professor Braunegg is a class act. He genuinely cares about your success.
Professor Braunegg was amazing! His lectures were informational and the homework assignments helped to further practice the concepts and material. Exams are definitely doable if you put in the effort to study, review the slides, and also do the practice problems he provides. Definitely recommend taking his class!
The content is pretty difficult but he's a great professor. He teaches with a lot of passion and he is very accessible. You can tell from his lectures that he genuinely cares. He provides plenty of support to help you succeed as well.
Very clear expectations for exams. This class is difficult but so rewarding when you begin to understand. If you put in the work, you will see results! I would recommend this class to anyone and the practice exams he gives are super helpful!
If you get the chance, Professor Braunegg is definitely who you want to be taking buad281 with. George is a nice guy who has a funny sense of humor and ends all of his lectures with a joke of the day. The class is hard but that is just the nature of the course, no matter who you end up taking it with (may as well do it with someone enjoyable).
Great professor and makes accounting fun! If you take the time to really understand how concepts and equations intersect, lectures become even more helpful and rewarding. This is the key to doing well in this class. Prof also does everything he can to help students learn. Also tests are fair and manageable if you can do the above. Highly recommend!
Great professor! Classes were well organised and concepts were explained very well. There are 2 mid terms and a final. Professor has a lot of experience in the consulting industry and would genuinely recommend his class!
I never thought I would be writing a 5 star review for a professor in whose class I earned a C. Professor Braunegg did everything you expect of a 5 star professor. He was very knowledgeable, caring, accommodating, and accessible. I earned a C because circumstances outside the classroom prevented me from putting in my full efforts.
He was very accessible, and wanted us to do well. By far one of my best professors in Marshall. 100% would take again.
Professor Braunegg was a great teacher. He was always caring and available outside of class for help. Great professor !
Professor Braunegg is a very kind and understanding professor. While I found the class very challenging, he was always accessible outside of class and encouraged everyone to do their best. Tests were fair based off of practice questions and what we had learned in class.
Professor Braunegg was great. He is very caring and supportive of his students and encourages us to ask any questions/or come to him outside of class for clarification. Throughout the lectures, he also told us many stories about his extensive consulting career. Overall, very solid professor for 281!
Professor Braunegg is the definition of a 'tough but fair' professor. If you work hard, and then extremely hard after that, you may just end up doing well in the course. Very much an attendance/lecture-heavy course, but he makes it all worthwhile with his passion, expertise, and willingness to share what he knows. Also a great feedback provider.
Amazing professor, great class. Provides incredible outside knowledge to show the applicability of the core concepts, allowing not only a better understanding of the material for coursework but enabling you to apply your learnings best. The class is difficult, but he is accessible prepares you best to understand a tough course.
Professor Braunegg sets very clear expectations from the start and the course is a bit test heavy, but you can perform well with adequate preparation. I recommend his extra review questions/practice tests and writing out the work in detail for the online homework. Ultimately, he's a caring instructor who likes to keep lectures lighthearted and fun.
Professor Braunegg is the best accounting professor that USC has to offer. This is definitely a tough class and you will need to work very hard. He provides FREE tutoring opportunities throughout the semester and they were extremely helpful. I think he's a great lecturer, and always finds ways to improve and be more engaging. He's very accessible!
I spoke to professor Braunegg at the beginning of the semester about how I felt intimidated by accounting. He listened to my concerns and encouraged me to ask for help when I did not understand a concept. So I did; I went to office hours and the TA's tutoring sessions. After much hard work, I was able to master the material and excel in the exams.
It was a good class but I found it harder than BUAD 280. I HIGHLY recommend reading/skimming the textbook before class because you'll get lost during his lectures which are pretty detailed and goes through a lot of content. Explanations of concepts can be wordy. Tons of office hours were super helpful! Exams are like practice problems.
Professor Braunegg is knowledgeable and teaches complex concepts with patience and lots of practice. He also provides multiple tutoring opportunities throughout the week in addition to his office hours. If you dedicate the time to going through practice problems and showing up to class ready to participate you will get the most out of his class.
Professor Braunegg was honestly one of the most motivating and respectable professors I have had at USC. Cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. You can tell he really is passionate about what he does and he lets that rub off on his students. I personally felt supported by him throughout the semester and would definitely recommend.
Professor Braunegg is straight forward, has clear set rules, and you will need to work very hard in this class to do great. But if you are looking to learn, there is no better professor. He understands the material is difficult and makes sure he is ALWAYS available for his students. Tip: Get to know him because he really cares about his students.
He's a really nice person - you can tell he cares a lot about the students but he's just not a great professor. He tries to explain things, but they get even more complicated, especially bc he approaches it from a trained accountant's perspective. He also gives a lot of class problems, but they're not like the exam problems, so it's hard to study.
Braunegg is a nice guy however his class was really difficult and fast. None of the class exercises or practice questions were like the midterm. I went into both midterms with lots of practice but the questions were completely different. Going to his office hours also isn't helpful because he doesn't explain the concepts differently than in class.
I do feel bad about the negative reviews, but I kind of see where they are coming from. Professor Braunegg is probably one of the nicest people, but as a professor, I often felt lost in lectures and surprised by the content of exams despite studying so much for them. I wish he was more receptive to student concerns, especially for the group project
I was disappointed going into this class after reading the good reviews. I had to spend so much of my own time teaching myself the material because of how poorly he would go over it in class. He is also just mean and unsympathetic if you are nervous about an exam. Definitely has an ego
Professor Braunegg is an incredible teacher who has a clear passion for accounting. While there is lots of content within the course, he is clear on what will be tested and provides plenty of practice questions and office hour availability. Professor Braunegg is very caring and supportive of all of his students and I would highly recommend him!
I think he is def a caring guy in general. I went to his OH when I fumbled my first midterm. He believes in students and expects from students to do well. But I get that people also argue he has an ego. I had a great experience in this class because his lecture slides and in-class problems are def helpful. That's how I studied for this class.
Professor Braunegg is a very nice and personable guy. He sets clear expectations at the beginning of the semester, and if you read the textbook before class, attend the lecture, and go to his/TA's office hours, you can definitely succeed. He also makes the class engaging by having jokes/questions of the day and practice problems.
Professor Braunegg is a very caring professor, he really looks out for his students and ensures that people give the best effort that they can in class. He can go on tangents which can confuse people but overall in order to be successful read the slides on your own time go to office hours and go to TA's study successions and you will be good.
He's very clear about what is expected in the course and is very passionate about the subject. There's no participation grade but attendance is mandatory to get 'professionalism points.' Tests are most of your grade but they're pretty easy and all you need are the slides and practice sets to do well on them. Overall great guy. Highly recommend.
I will say Professor Braunegg is a caring teacher if you reach out and go to office hours and communicate. He can come off with an ego at times, but probably one of my mot supportive Marshall teachers. Exams mimic the class practice.
Professor Braunegg was definitely the most supportive professor I had this semester. He always made himself available for office hours and genuinely wants students to succeed. He also puts in the effort to make lectures engaging with jokes and gifs. You definitely need to study hard to get an A, but it's possible if you do well on all of the exams.
Braunegg is overall a very good professor. Makes class enjoyable with accounting facts and jokes of the day. Content is tough and tests are hard, but he makes sure to prepare you. Take him if you can.
281 is one of the harder classes, and Braunegg did an amazing job of teaching and keeping everyone engaged it the class. Personally, accounting is a very hard and not the most exciting concept, but Braunegg did a great job of keeping everyone engaged. He is also a really good guy, and you can tell from the way he cares for his students.
Professor Braunegg is the BEST 281 professor at USC. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Slides are easy to read and digestible and he goes over the content in a way where everyone can understand it. If you can take him - do it. Its 100% worth it. Make sure to read, do the HW and study hard for midterms since those take chunk of your grade.
Professor Braunegg is one of the best professors Marshall has to offer. The man has real-world experience owning a company with a successful exit and teaching in academia because he wants to give back. He is a true professional in his craft and will give you candid feedback that goes further than the textbooks and class.
While the class is lecture heavy, professor does a good job compiling the information into the slides that are easy to look back at when reviewing. The class material is going to be hard no matter what, but the way this prof sets up the class materials makes it easy to know what you have to study.
Professor Braunegg is very nice and he's willing to spend a lot of time even not during his office hour. He made every grading clear and gave us helpful practice. He's the most caring professor I ever met at USC!! Definitely take him!
Professor Braunegg is outstanding! He genuinely cares about his students' success and goes above and beyond to help. His teaching style is engaging and he effortlessly simplifies complex topics. Easily one of the best professors I've had. Highly recommended!
It is clear that Professor Braunegg cares deeply about giving students a satisfactory learning experience. His slides are very detailed, he provides good practice problems, and I always felt that I could ask questions and receive thoughtful responses. I was not a huge fan of the group project, but I otherwise greatly enjoyed this class!
Professor Braunegg was a great option for BUAD 281! The lectures were clear and well-prepared, and he did a great job in explaining the course concepts and helping students when it wasn't clear. He gave practice problems before exams that were very helpful, and was always accessible outside of class to help with concepts and the group project.
Best professor in Marshall. Very clear slides that simplify complex ideas and are easy to revise from when going through HW and practice exams. Braunegg genuinely cares about students, is accessible, and provides incredible TAs that help a ton for exams. Not only is he a great professor, but a charismatic, fun, and caring person - highly recommend!
You can tell Professor Braunegg puts a lot of time perfecting his lectures and trying to make it fun for students. He posted lecture recordings and gives many helpful in class activities. The group project I wasn't a fan of due to group problems, but Prof. Braunegg was very accessible and understanding. Overall good professor and would recommend.
I feel like Prof. Braunegg is overrated. He is good and I can tell he puts effort into his lectures, but the explanations are just not great. Most of the time you are going to be learning on your own as you work through the online problems. The group project is also very irrelevant to the class, and is frustrating if you are placed on a bad team.
I really enjoyed BUAD 281 with Professor Braunegg and his class / he convinced me to pursue a double major with accounting. The tests were straightforward; you will do well if you do the practice problems on the powerpoint and the homework problems. Professor Braunegg truly cares about his students and always tried to make class entertaining.
Professor George is one of the best professors I have taken at USC. Although the class is difficult and there is a lot of work, if you actually put in the work then this class will be amazing. I did not do as best as I could have but I have learned so much from this class and am grateful for professor George! Take his class for sure!
Great Professor! He always took the time to answer any questions students may have. His style of teaching made class interesting and he truly cares for his students. Make sure to review the PowerPoint slides for the tests.
Def recommend Prof Braunegg...he puts effort into his lectures, isn't boring and he's very accessible outside of class. 281 is a tough course, I had to retake it but he doesn't make it harder than it needs to be. Attendance isn't mandatory, slides are always uploaded and he wears a bowtie everyday. Submit work on time though bc no makeup points.
281 was def not an easy class, but Braunegg went out of his way to ensure that students succeeded by always being ready to answer questions. The practice exams and TA office hours were super helpful during the exam periods as well. Only thing I would change about this class is the group project as the grading is ambiguous
Braunegg is a great professor who cares a lot. Study with practice problems for the exams and the homework is fine too. He carefully plans out how he teaches each lecture and supports his students outside of class.
I had the pleasure of studying managerial accounting with Professor Braunegg this semester. His lectures are amazing! He presents the material in a clear and entertaining way. He is also very helpful when I go see him during his office hours, so take his class if you can!
Professor Braunegg is arguably one of the best teachers at Marshall/Leventhal. There are little to few more teachers that put more effort into their classes than he does. He makes accounting interesting, which is certainly not interesting to all, and is very fair. Class difficulty is what you would expect. Should easily be your first choice for 281
Professor Braunegg does a good job of covering not the most exciting material in an engaging way. The group project is a great grade booster and is a fun change of pace midway through the semester. Prof. Braunegg cares about his students and his lectures are very helpful with the practice problems he puts in them. Would recommend taking his class.
Professor Braunegg's lectures are important as he has all of the contents of the test in them. If you keep up with the course material, the lectures and practice problems in them are an easy way to learn. His tests are always straightforward and if you study the lecture slides and practice tests he provides you will get a good grade.
Professor Braunegg's teaching style was very straightforward, which I personally work well with. As long as you study his slides and do the homework you'll do fine on his class / the exams. He can definitely be blunt or move a bit fast but he's always happy to answer any questions you have. If given the choice he's a good prof!
The class is manageable if you dedicate yourself to learning the slides which are honestly pretty studyable. The group project is pretty hard tbh but he grades it generously and is genuinely pretty fair about everything. He's resourceful about a career in consulting, finance, or accounting.
Professor Braunegg is a great professor & a great person. He puts a lot of effort into the course- He starts the class by giving out $2 bills for answering the "Accounting Question of the Day" and ends it with the "Accounting Joke of the Day". Really caring; offers help with class, career, master's programs, etc during office hours. Just study.
Braunegg's class was my favorite class this semester! He kept students engaged with jokes, group classwork (not graded), and accounting facts. His tests were representative of the class content and not too hard. He was a good lecturer and broke down the concepts very well. You need the online textbook to submit hw. Totally recommend Braunegg!
Prof Braunegg is a great professor. I struggled in this class as accounting is not my strong suit, but he is understanding and is willing to work with you outside of class so long as you put forth the effort. His lecture slides are also informative and funny with his accounting related jokes!
Thought the class would be good after all the reviews. But, was unfortunately disappointed. Powerpoints were long and wordy, and the practice exams/problems don't relate to tests. Attendance is also mandatory but the lectures weren't helpful.
HE WRITES HIS OWN REVIEWS! CLASS IS HARD AND HE IS NOT A GOOD PROF. UNCLEAR DIRECTIONS AND NOT HELPFUL WHEN YOU TALK TO HIM. GROUP PROJECT WAS HORRIBLE AND SUCH A TIME CONSUMER FOR NO REASON. DOESNT WRITE HIS OWN TESTS, SO YOU CAN STUDY ALL YOU WANT AND BE TESTED ON SOMETHING SO MUCH MORE DIFFERENT. DO NOT TAKE HIIM
He is generous with homework but it makes a pretty small impact at the end -- the group project is much more time consuming than it needs to be, and he is impatient with questions and he doesn't really answer them well. his tests aren't very similar to the practice exams he gives, so it's key to genuinely understand not just memorize.
All of the positive reviews are scams. The lecture slides + the book are nothing like the actual exams or even the practice exams. He'll give you examples that are relatively straight forward and easy and then the actual exams are nightmares of trying to apply those topics to significantly harder and more complicated problems. RUNNNN
Really enjoyed his class! He truly cares and it shows. The lecture slides are always sprinkled with jokes of the days keeping it entertaining. He's super responsive and always wants to help. I was struggling during the beginning and made up for it in the final. Go to class. Go to the tutors, they're super helpful. And you'll be just fine.
Braunegg's RMP score is too high. He is a very nice and caring professor who puts a lot of effort into his lectures. In terms of personality/likingness he's a 5/5. However, in terms of being good at teaching content for exams, I would say he's a 3/5. Group project = useless, exams = questionable, lectures = boring. Great person, but bad professor.
Class was difficult at first but I suggest seeing Professor after your first midterm. He's always accessible outside of class and happy to help in any way possible, constantly keeps track of students who are struggling. Need to understand concepts conceptually in order to be prepared for the exams and do every practice problem he offers.
Professor Braunegg is one of the most caring and engaging instructors I have had a USC. I think the majority of the bad reviews he gets are simply because managerial accounting is HARD, no matter who you take. If you do bad in this course, it's your fault. I studied directly from his lectures and practice tests and ended the semester with an A.
He does an amazing job at something most accounting instructors simply omit: linking the class concepts to the business world. He is very caring and his tests are straightforward and similar to the practices. Taking this course with him is your best option from a grade-reward perspective (the curve benefits your work) and the learning experience.
I really enjoyed learning under Prof. Braunegg. While the content may be challenging at times, he does a great job to provide examples and in class exercises to help his students understand the material. He fosters a positive classroom environment by telling daily jokes at the start and end of class and encourages students to participate.
I strongly recommend taking his BUAD281 class. He is exceptionally caring and accessible. Whenever I reached out via email, he responded promptly and took the time to address any questions or issues. The course consists of three exams, which are quite manageable if you review the lecture slides diligently. Take him!
If you put effort into the class, it is very doable. Take notes in class and try on the in-class exercises and homework, you will learn a lot. If you actually understand the content rather than trying to memorize the practice problems, the exams are not that difficult, and some conceptual questions were the exact same as the practice.
Listen folks, BUAD 281 is NOT a fun class to begin with, but Professor Braunegg makes it bearable. He comes to class with high energy which I found to be motivating. Attendance is important in this class, but he gives you a pretty good safety net for allowed absences. The class material can be boring, but Professor Braunegg is a pleasure to have.
I struggled with exams, but improved grade from final and class project. I wish I would have sought out his help earlier, he is so kind and WANTS you to succeed! You REALLY have to put work in, but it felt rewarding doing well on the final after grinding. Not an easy A but amazing learning experience. Checks up on struggling students bc he cares:)
Prof Braunegg is very accessible outside of class and he does his best to make the material engaging, esp with his silly accounting jokes. The exams are difficult bc you really have to think about the answer, but there are literal sample questions on there as well. If you don't want to study and want someone to blame, take a different professor.
Such an amazing professor! He was always so helpful inside and outside of the classroom! Be sure to ask for advice on how to do better after first midterm and I promise you he will help you!
Tests don't reflect material on the powerpoint or practice exams. It is very difficult to properly study as you don't know what to expect. Group project had very little instructions. Overall a very confusing class even though it did not need to be.
Nice Professor but the powerpoints do not relate to exams!! Your grade is based on the exams and a big group project that didn't relate to the content. Changing your studying habit doesn't do much either. Average for exams were in 70s or high 60s.....
This class has its challenges, but if you put in the work, it's very rewarding. The professor is caring and wants you to succeed. Use Unstuck study alongside the textbook and practice exams to prepare effectively.
requires you to go to class and style of teaching is outdated. forces you to remember many of the equations for exams which is ridiculous. practice exams are barely similar to the actual one
He makes accounting seem fun!! Such cute daily jokes and such a caring professor. Attendance being mandatory is not that bad AT all... he lets you miss 5 classes which is literally 3 weeks of class and still get 100% on attendance. Totally recommend!
oversimplifies everything with his lecture slides, time consuming group project that didnt make up much of our grade, complicated exams that dont relate to lectures/hw, his rating is inflated take someone else
Prof. Braunegg is so incredibly sweet and kind. He truly cares about students' wellbeing and professional development. If you study and show up to class you'll be fine, tests are quite similar to practice tests. The group project is a bit annoying but standard across other classes so it is what it is. Would take again. Sweetest guy ever.
Professor Braunegg was amazing. Even though I didn't receive an A, I still wanted to share how much I liked having him this semester. He shows care for students early on. I'm not the best test taker so the midterms & final were okay, group project is way easier than expected, and homework was great for learning the material! Def recommend him!
I really enjoyed Professor Braunegg's class. He has a really good teacher puts a lot of effort to make sure his students know the material. His slides are really good and makes it easy to understand all the material
It was a pleasure taking Professor Braunegg's class. He paid a lot of attention to detail in his lectures and toward his students. This was demonstrated through the progress update emails he writes to all of his students after each midterm and being accessible through office hours. Study the lecture slides and practice test questions for success.
Just took him this semester and I think his class was very straightforward. Definitely what you look for out of a business class. Huge recommendation is participate in class and ask questions. Office hours were helpful too. Gives very clear feedback.
Braunegg truly cares about his students and the study of managerial accounting. This class taught me many transferrable skills, with a real-world group project. Braunegg was encouraging and easily accessible outside of class. While this class challenged me and required full dedication, it was a rewarding experience due to his obvious passion.
Professor Braunegg's expectations are very clear, and he cares about everyone's success. He has engaging lectures and is very helpful if you have any questions. The workload is manageable, and he more than adequately prepares you for exams. I highly recommend Professor Braunegg!
Kind professor who wants his students to succeed. At first, he may appear strict, but this is because he structures and organizes his class to ensure students know exactly what to expect. Make sure to stay on top of everything from day one: attendance is required, there is weekly Connect homework, three exams, and a group project.
Might appear strict/challenging at first but ride it out. Flexible in grading with make-up options and unexcused absences. It is a generally difficult course but he does well to simplify concepts. Teaches in a way that engages you and is interesting. IMO this class is important to success in your career so I love that he pushed us to do our best.
He's a very good prof. Super kind and caring, always down to help students. Not a harsh grader at all, also gives bonus questions in exams. Def recommend
Amazing Professor for 281! There are many many opportunities to earn points going to the grade, and you will do well as long as you go to the lectures and do the assignments. Prof Braunegg puts in best efforts to make the lectures engaging, and he will literally reply to your email immediately no matter when you send him, overall highly recommend.
Professor Braunegg is an amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students. The course can be challenging, but he's always available to help. His interactive lectures and fun accounting jokes made the class enjoyable. I highly recommend him for BUAD 281—if you're willing to work hard, you'll succeed!
Really caring and supportive professors
Definitely the best 281 professor. He seems strict at first but he genuinely cares and his rules are much more lenient than they seem- you can miss/be late to many classes before it even starts to affect your grade. Additionally, tests are much easier than in-class exercises and practice materials so as long as you do those you'll be fine.
As someone who struggled in accounting, I can say this professor wants the best for his students! His challenging exams and homework help reinforce key concepts. With thorough preparation, attending office hours, and building a good rapport, you can succeed!
Comes across as strict but does want the best for his students. If you put in the time and effort, then you will be successful. From what I've heard he is the best to take for 281.
Professor Braunegg is truly one of the most caring professors. This class is definitely not the easiest, but he does his best to help you out and meet with you during office hours. He will motivate and challenge you to your limits, but in a good way. This class will give you the practical knowledge and skillset required to succeed in the workplace.
a lot of positive reviews are fake, professor is rude to students and I would personally avoid him and take another prof over him
Take him. If you do what you're supposed to do, study his presentations & do the homework, you will be perfectly fine on the exams. He truly cares & is passionate about his students, is easily accessible outside of class, and wants each student to succeed. Again, do what you are expected to do (which he clearly outlines), and you will be 100% fine.
Prof. Braunegg is one of the best professors I've had at USC. Lectures are clear, well-organized, and easy to follow if you pay attention. The midterms and finals are manageable, and you can do well if you understand the materials, homework/practice problems. Highly recommended if looking for a professor who genuinely cares about students!
I don't know who is lying to you in these reviews. I repeat, do not take this class unless you want to teach yourself! Or get reprimanded if, God forbid, you don't know the correct answer when raising your hand. Additionally, the McGraw-Hill homework and practice tests are nothing like the actual test
Definitely not nice, gets angry. Outdated, overfilled slides, hard to follow, so much self-teaching. Barely reviews in-class practice problems (how can you learn?) not to mention practice exams are not at all like actual exams which were so much harder + more complicated. No matter how much I studied, didn't matter. Project pointless, time wasting.
Do not take.
Avoid this class. Studying, doing the homework, going through the lecture slides, practicing the in class-exercises, completing the practice exam will not help at all for his tests. Not sure how he has such a good RMP but he is not a good teacher at all. Hes is a good guy, not a good prof.
This Professor does not know how to teach at all. He talks the whole time during lectures instead of going through the work and the lecture slides do not help AT ALL. I have no clue how he has a good rating. I expected much better from this professor when I first selected him, but he greatly disappointed me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Def not the best teacher ever but not horrible. Watch out for the group project that is so much work. Lectures are pretty boring but you get points for attendance. Polleverywhere questions during class are pretty helpful and the practice tests are aswell. He can be sassy at times but I have seen worse.
Don't take
dont take, you'll end up teaching yourself this entire course. huge waste of time/energy/stress. nice guy but not a good teacher. apparently he writes his own reviews too which is why the rate is inflated...?
actually horrible. So confused how he has so many good reviews. Teaching is outdated, tests don't resemble practice tests given, not approachable. Please take someone else .
Professor Braunegg is a great 281 instructor. He is strict about attendance and getting to class on time, but his lectures are engaging, and he is very accommodating for students that need it. He gives practice exams for the midterms and finals that are great preparation, as they are typically harder than the actual exam.
professor is nice and poll questions are very helpful. Exams are difficult if you don't study and do the practice exams.
He is a great professor, but the class isn't easy so if you've struggled with 280 it might still be hard and you have to put in the work, he cares about his students, he reached out to me after every midterm to check in on what's holding me back from succeeding, and almost no one ever fails as long as you do the project, homework and attend lecture
Prof Braunegg was a great professor, I loved his class. Dont get me wrong, it was very difficult, but his guidance helped me grow so much. Take this class!
Professor Braunegg has to be one of my favorite professors at USC! His lecture presentations have always been very thorough and his explanations are very in-depth. The extra practice problems he provides mirror what the tests are like, ensuring you know exactly what to expect on the midterms/final. He also provides great advice outside of class.
This class is chill. Hardest parts are probably the tests but all you have to do is grind the practice problems until you understand them. If you get to that point, you'll be set for the midterms and finals.
Great professor and an even better person. Always willing to answer questions, great knowledge of subject matter, and he even helped me with consulting recruiting. You get out what you put in with this class and anyone who rates him low just doesn't know how to work hard. If you want a career in acct/finance, take him and ask questions.
Professor Braunegg has been one of the best professors I've taken in my time at Marshall. Managerial Accounting and the way he teaches the class has been one of the best/useful classes. I see myself applying these concepts throughout my career. This class is difficult, but if you do the practice tests and connect questions you will be fine!
Attendance is mandatory + lateness is penalized. He's SO RUDE and lowk outdated. Slides are congested, lectures are too basic, and exams are way too hard. Group project was okay. Wouldn't take again, please take someone else if you can for your sake don't listen to the others i'm pretty sure he writes his own reviews!!!!!!!!
Honestly great professor. Wants you to succeed in this class. Heavy curve.
I really enjoyed this class, the tests were not super difficult if you understand the material. I studied for exams by reading through the textbook, doing the practice problems he provided, and was all set. Braunegg is super motivating and has made the most effort to check in with individual students out of any prof I've had here. Rewarding class!
Professor Braunegg's class is tough but worth it if you're taking accounting. He's funny and moves fast, so review notes and in class problems after class(normal for accounting). Participation counts a little, so just show up on time. The group project's solid and you'll actually learn real-world stuff. Take it if you want useful accounting skills.
Professor is a supportive and caring instructor who regularly checked in with me and sent encouraging messages. He was accessible outside of class and provided plenty of in-class practice problems that really helped. Accounting is a tough subject, but he explains concepts clearly and gives you the tools to succeed if you put in the effort.
His lectures were lengthy and honestly would dive heavily into the concepts and definitions of things without actually showing how to apply them so then when you got to the homework you wouldn't no what to do despite the lectures. You'll learn the most doing the homework. This will help you on exams. Group project was way more work than necessary.
The grading criteria were clear and transparent. The course wasn't easy, but you get the grade you deserve. Professor Braunegg recognizes student effort, and the group project was graded generously. I feel fortunate to have taken this class with him. Highly recommend!
The exams were not difficult and matched the questions you'd see on our homework or practice exams. I wasn't a fan of the strict attendance policy since the classroom door would be closed to latecomers after class started, but the class itself and the material is very easy. You just need to do the homework and read the textbook a bit.
I simply do not get the hate that Braunegg is getting. He's a great guy to listen to although his lectures are pretty dense and it's unclear at times what he's talking about. Still, the exams are still pretty in-line with the practice material he gives out!
Professor Braunegg cares deeply about his students and genuinely wants them all to do well. As long as you show up to class and try your best you'll be fine.
Coming back after graduating to write. He asks students to write good reviews on here (asked me) and his lecture slides are horrible! had to study off of my other friends slides in different classes, and he pulls questions from different websites for his tests so using the textbook is pointless. take shelly li, all of my friends enjoyed. avoid!
Avoid at all costs. Tests are very difficult and different from practice problems. Does not teach well. Does not listen to the feedback given by students in the feedback form.
He's a great professor, you will learn a lot and he's very dedicated. However the tests can be different from the study guides.
Idk what all the bad ratings are about. Just look through the slides, complete the practice problems, and you'll easily ace this class. I took him last semester, and although the lectures were somewhat boring, the workload for the class was super manageable.
So, so easy. Notecard on exams + a TON of practice sets makes the three tests easy to get a good grade on. Hope that you get a good group for the project. Didn't do more than half the homework and still got an A
Overall speaking, I enjoyed taking his class a lot. He's always open to talk and I think I've learned a lot from it. Whether from the trivia accounting/accounting history knowledge or his teaking style, i enjoyed a lot.
he writes his own review. go behind to see the actual review. Exams are nothing like what we learned. Take another professor. Lectures don't make sense.
