I would hang out with Captain George after class. He's that cool. And more importantly, he's a fantastic teacher.
took his microeconomics class, great teacher made things really simple. I would definitely recommened him, easy as long as you go to class. didnt order a book, notes were online, very informitive class
amazing teacher, funny clear, to the point. easy class would have had an easy A if i would have completed all my assignments on time. TA's are little to no help tho. but i definitely would recomend this class to anyone taking an economics. AMAZING CLASS.
george is a great teacher and tried very hard to help everyone succeed. great class! and TA's were awesome too!
A very good professor. Gave a lot of extra credit on make up quizzes, a make up exam, and random attendance points. I got a 50/50 on every in class exam because he goes over the written problems a lot in class. Read the book to study more of the small stuff that will be on the final exam multiple choice.
Keeps up the pace and uses good examples
George is a good professor, knows what he's talking about. Gives old exams for practice. Quizzes every week keep you updated in the class so you dont fall behind. With effort this class is an easy B, possible A.
Not worth your gpa. The first few weeks I had no idea what was going on and completely failed the quizes (he gives them out each weekend.) I stopped going to class and started to read out of the book, take my own notes, and used Aplia (an online program) I've aced every exam since. Moral of the Story: you can teach yourself.
Professor George is awesome. I didn't buy the textbook, I just made sure I went to lecture everyday. He really spells everything out in the powerpoints. Weekly quizzes help you stay on top of your game. He curves at the end, too. I did have to sit in the front so I could hear/understand him. I dreaded this class but Prof. George made it bearable.
George is great! He is a fair grader and really cares about his students. He has a thick Middle-Eastern accent so at first he is hard to understand but you get used to the way he says things quickly. His jokes are actually funny and he does a lot of examples which help a ton! Make sure you go to class every day, and actually pay attention!!
George is a good professor especially during an 8 am class. He knows what he's talking about and is easy to understand. He has good examples and wants his students to understand the material. Read the book as it's helpful for the quizzes every week, usually it's word for word in the textbook, and it's not a bad read. Old tests available too.
Prof. Chickladze is great for an 8am, especially an econ 8am. He makes these random little jokes and has horrible handwriting, but still likes to write things out. His graphs help a lot when explaining concepts. Sitting in the front row is an excellent idea -- otherwise it is much too tempting to FB. He obviously knows what he is talking about. :)
Dr. George is an amazing professorial. He makes everything extremely easy to understand. You don't need to read the text, his lectures are simple. Take the time to talk to him. he will help you out a lot. I've never understood how kids thought this class was difficult.
He is amazing! He really knows what he is talking about. Failed Sandy's class and retook with George. He is SO MUCH BETTER! I suggest taking his class! He has a dry sense of humor which makes class fun.
George is a great guy. Make sure you attend all of the classes and come to the Wednesday classes especially because that's where the journalism portion comes in. Google the quiz questions also, the answers are online. Do the practice tests and exams before exams. George has funny jokes. Don't sit on facebook or your phone during class.
He's a funny guy and a clear explainer. Class isn't necessary to attend but I'd recommend it to help on quizzes and extra credit. Medium hard exams...the final was a killer but I still walked away with an A-.
George is excellent person with sense of humor which makes this boring subject very interesting, he is always well prepared and knows what he is talking. Explains very clear and in details, I would take Econometric class of George but he did not teach it. Good bless you George:)
He's a great teacher and you get used to his accent really quickly. Received A's on almost every test
This professor is worthless. I emailed him multiple times and never got a response. And when I did finally get a response he called me by the WRONG name. Does not care about students at all and you can't even understand him. If he says the word GARMIN he is trying to say GOVERNMENT.
The class is very easy, and you could do well just reading the textbook as it covers all the information. George is a great lecturer, though, and he does a great job of explaining what the book doesn't do a great job of explaining, and of providing practical examples of the theories. By far the best Econ prof I've had
George is a very smart man and a good professor. Personally I'm not the economics type, but he made it tolerable. He has a cool accent and I see him playing basketball at the Rec on a daily basis.
Impossible to pass this class without attending almost each day. If good notes are taken, its not too hard to get by with a good grade without reading the textbook.
Such a helpful professor! He is awesome and funny and friendly and overall great! ECON 1051 is a easy class if you go to every class. DON'T SKIP. Because George's class explains everything you need to know in details. I feel bad for people who failed this class because it is so easy and useful. PS there are bunch of extra credits.
He is a harsh grader, and when you go see him he is not helpful, and makes you feel dumb. Doesn't bump you up when you have a 79.6...
He's nice too look at and his accent makes lectures bearable. Class is pretty boring unless you're interested in economics.. but if you want a good grade go to class and pay attention as hard as it may be.
George is funny and is nice to students. He is also beautiful to look at. This may be bad, but I went to class to see him because he is just that beautiful.
I loved George! He is funny and has a great accent so you'll stay engaged. He is really good at what he teaches. He understands it well and can translate that to students well.
Dry lectures, and often notes are not so useful for the quiz, exercise or tests. Have to self-teaching by reading textbook. Tests are easier than the quiz or exercises. Generous curve after the final.
Awesome guy. Loved the class
Awesome teacher! Very intelligent but keeps everything on a college lecture hall level. Doesn't confuse you by trying to go over your head. The tests are worded clear and aren't that hard. Clicker points is an easy way to boost grade. Respect him fully!
Everyone says he's the best Econ professor. He wants you to do well and doesn't try to trick you or anything but if you don't study you won't. Weekend quizzes are easy to forget but they're also pretty easy. Lecture attendance is random and for extra credit but LAB ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. I've heard he's easier on his 8am class but idk
George is a nice guy and cares about the topic but I really couldn't listen in class just because he doesn't really make them interesting and especially because it's everyday. Tests can get hard sometimes so make sure you study more than just his practice tests.
George is a great Professor. If you come to class and listen you will mostly likely enjoy the class and get an easy A. The topic is dry at times, but George is an interesting guy. If he asks questions or needs help with something always go for it, as he hands out bits of extra credit to people that help him fix the projector etc
George is a great professor but the class can be tricky if you don't pay attention. It is not that difficult to get a good grade it just can be hard to go to 5 classes a week with long lectures on complex topics. Do ALL the extra credit he gives you.
George is a great teacher and makes Econ easy. The lectures can be long and it's easy to not pay attention, but if you put in the effort your grade will reflect that. He's very approachable for extra help, and offers lots of extra credit.
George is knowledgeable, friendly, approachable and absolutely dedicated to making Econ understandable for even the least-fluent journalism major. A phenomenal instructor for an otherwise off-putting class. Clicker questions are no longer mandatory, so you don't HAVE to attend every lecture, but you won't regret it one bit come exam time.
His class is difficult, but only if you do not pay attention or study. He gives former tests for you to study from and offers a review session before each class. Also he gives EC for attending class up to 20 points. The class is hard but with work an A is easy.
This class -YAWN. His lecture style is more like rambling and hard to follow. Clicker heavy. Be sure to keep up with the curriculum in the textbook. Tests will kick your butt. Take advantage of ALL extra credit opportunities. TAs mostly grade for completion.
George is a great guy, and when you go to his office hours he really helps you understand the material if you're confused. However, he does have a accent. (He's from Georgia) If you're going to struggle with it, choose a different class. While you don't really have to go to class, the topics are harder so attendance is highly suggested.
Highly recommend going to every class. He gives out extra credit for those who are in the top 25% of the class with clicker points. Class is super boring but he tries to make it more relatable to us with good examples in lecture. Don't wait till last minute to study for tests. Don't ever bother emailing him because he rarely ever answers back.
Doesn't respond to emails and isn't really accessible outside of class but is super knowledgeable. Hard to understand though, has a very heavy accent. Good sense of humor and is very attractive so easy to pay attention too. Have to work your ass off to get an A, though.
George is alright. Extra credit opportunities are nice, but there is no homework, which limits the learning in this class. Once, I walked all the way to class at 8am (20 minute walk for me) and he missed the class... When emailing him, be ready to forward it back to him several times before he decides to respond in the fewest words possible.
He really wants to make sure that we understand what's going on in class. Tons of extra credit opportunities. Always on time to class and always lets us out on time. I don't have to take anymore Econ classes, but I would definitely take his class again.
George is an okay professor I would say. The way he describes things isn't always the best but he tries. He's hot so that helps but he's overall meh..
The class sucks, but George knows what he's talking about and teaches the content well . Lots of extra credit opportunities to save your grade. Pay attention, take good notes, go to the review sessions and you'll end up with a fine grade.
great teacher, after talking to other classmates im pretty sure he is the easiest teacher for this specific course. only "need" textbook for homework, teaches most everything in class... homework isnt to relevant a doesnt waste alot of time gong over irrelevant material that wont be on exam. putting off 4353 so i can take that with him too
George's lectures sparked an interest for Econ in my life. He covered the relevant material using real life examples, and he didn't waste time. The lectures were pretty lively given the subject matter. Make sure to look over the material in your free time and reach out when you need questions answered.
Not great, doesn't return emails. His tegrity videos were useless because of background noise. No real study guide for tests only practice tests. Made us subscribe to the Wall Street Journal for discussions, I didn't do it but still got 100's on discussions and all quiz answers are online in various quizlets.
Be sure to attend class because you can earn up to 12 bonus points at the end of the semester just by answering the clicker questions. Don't need to read the book.
Very hard to understand and follow because of his thick accent. I wouldn't take this again because even when I went to class and listened, I couldn't hear what he was saying. Definitely a set back to my learning.
I decided to double major in economics after taking this class. He truly sparked my interest in economics because of his thorough understanding of the subject. It's a difficult class, but there's a chance to earn up to 20 points of extra credit by clicker questions, small projects, papers, etc. which helped a lot.
If you come to class, focus and do weekly quizzes, you'll succeed. The class moves fast, so coming to class and listening is v important but kids who complain and say he's hard just come to class and mess around. If you don't get it, just go into his office hours if you're trying. Literally no reason you can't get an A especially with all the EC
Attendance isn't mandatory but there are clicker questions and he explains the material super well. I barely paid attention and did amazing in the class - our final score average was so high he didn't even curve the class, so I was not the only one. If you put in work, you'll get results. Also there are a bunch of quizlets to help you study for exa
The class was a mix of journalism and econ, but not conducted very relevantly. He was an okay lecturer, nothing special. The class was everyday, though, so that was excruciating. Attendance was taken by clicker.
Super chill professor. But this class in particular is very challenging. Way more difficult than micro and macro econ
Loved Dr. George! Kept lectures entertaining and exams aren't hard if you go over lectures beforehand. Book helps, but definitely isn't needed. Homework, quizzes, and exams are on a clear schedule so it's not hard to keep up with the class.
- Didnt respond to emails - Did not give a curve - So much work (quiz, homework, lectures, practice problems, discussion post) didnt help for exams.
Out of all the teachers I have had I would rate him at the bottom. His teaching is just downright awful. He doesn't properly prepare you for tests. His accent makes him hard to understand. The practice tests have incorrect answers and he barely gets back to his students when emailing him.
George gets a lot of hate about his accent, but it's not bad at all. As long as you don't sit in the back row in a large auditorium, you will be fine. Quiz and discussion every week, usually take no more than 30 minutes. Tests are a little difficult, but just look over the slideshows and you will be fine.
George is a teacher, his tests are not too difficult, and the weekly homework assignments do not take long to do either. There are lectures to watch before the discussions that will help you know the material before class. I never watched any of them and still found the discussions to prepare me for the tests. Would definitely take his class again.
Dr. George is great! The weekly quizzes and discussions can get tedious, but they did help me learn the material better. There are clicker questions every Friday, and they are a part of your grade, so if you're going to attend any of the classes, make sure it's the Friday classes. Textbook is helpful, but definitely not necessary (I didn't use it).
Great teacher overall. The class was very interesting, but the tests are super hard. He gives a good curve at the end of the year though.
Dr. Chikhladze is an incredibly knowledgable and charming professor. His lectures are detailed and he is liable to crack jokes often. Homeworks are never too hard, and a good bit of your grade is based on iClicker participation. Pay attention to the video lectures and you will be prepared for the workshops, though I seldom watched them beforehand.
Show up to lecture especially during the Friday clicker questions they will impact your grade. Overall, a great professor don't forget to ask questions if you need clarification, visit his office hours. He is there to help you, also loved the articles that related to the class that required critical thinking.
George was a great teacher. Show up to class everyday and pay attention to his notes. I liked to take notes of his lecture slides beforehand and take supplemental notes as he went. Write down the problems he does in class. Do the optional chapter problems provided as a way to study for the exam. Don't forget to study the articles for the exam too.
George is an amazing professor and lecturer. I took him for 1015 and decided to take him again for 3229. Lectures are very important in his class, and teach you everything you need for the exam. I wish he still put his lectures on panopto because when I slacked for a unit in 1015 I was able to watch every lecture and get an A on the exam.
George is kind of hilarious. People will ask questions and he replies "I dont know". One kid proved him wrong by pointing something out in the syllabus and then he changed the syllabus. Got mad at a student for "doordashing" a quesadilla... Anyway pretty easy class, go to lecture because iclicker points add up.
Dr. George is the man. I am sad that I can't take any more of his classes. He's funny, engaging, understanding, and he is a chad.
The tests were very easy to understand, he gives us past exams with practice problems for our "study guide", and these questions are similar to the exams. Quizzes don't take more than 20 mins to complete, also the weekly discussions are very strait forward and easy to complete but crucial to your grade. Also iClicker points are very weighted.
Really good teacher, he prepares you well for exams, content can be tricky sometimes tho
Very knowledgable prof. The class was fairly hard, but if you go to every class you will be fine. Exams aren't bad. He is very self aware and always knows the appropriate level of difficulty to test us on. A lot of assignments but not necessarily a bad thing because they keep your grade up. Taken his classes twice and would again.
Lecture heavy and is a decent amount of your grade. Exams were pretty easy and you don't need a cheat sheet. Pretty nice guy and understanding.
Second time taking one of George's classes and I wish I could take another. I ended with 17 extra credit points because of attendance/course evaluations. As long as you go to class and take some notes you should do good in this course.
Great professor. One time I saw him at the Chipotle and sat and talked with him for a few minutes on economics.
George is a class act at the University. His lectures are clear and understandable and he is clearly passionate about the subject matter. Ample extra credit as well.
(For context I was in 1015) - Uses iclicker: He drops 4 of your lowest iclicker grades - Drops your lowest test ( had 3 tests and a final ) - If you attend lectures and pay attention you will be fine. The way he teacher is clear and not hard to follow
The rating speaks for itself. George is an amazing professor.
as long as you attend the lectures, you will be good to go- it's hard not to understand the material as long as you show up. he does a lot of iclicker, but it applies really well. i recommend him to everyone who has an economics course to take.
George is dope. Class participation and discussion participation is very important, and his tests are easy to prepare for! He is fun and engaging despite the class being over an hour long too.
George is great! His accent keeps you engaged and his clicker mistakes keep you on your toes. He is fun to look at.
Although ECON is a tough subject for many, George is liked by so many students. If you have options on professors to take for ECON, take it with George. He is very thorough with lectures and funny/light hearted. He cares about students success as he makes sure to emphasize different resources and gives extra credit to classes as a whole.
W proffesor.
Go to class and do the iClicker. He's super understanding and willing to accommodate you if needed. His lectures are good and he truly only wants his students to succeed. You do have to put in some effort, but he does a good job of making it interesting and applying it to real-life examples.
Professor Chikhladze was a very nonchalant professor, but in the best way possible. He has a flipped classroom, meaning you write notes on the lecture at home, and work through problems during class time. If you forget to do the lecture at home, don't stress, he gives a pretty good summary during class. Also, you get to drop your lowest exam!
Professor Chikhladze was a great professor and is clearly passionate about the subject he's teaching. As someone who had a really hard time in microeconomics he made macroeconomics one of my favorite classes despite my dislike for math. I also really appreciated having readings and videos that helped my learning. Relatively difficult but engaging!
Good lectures, lots of extra credit opportunities, practice exams and review sessions to help you be prepared
I fw george geavy
George was my favorite professor for the semester. I am in no way good at economics but he made it so easy to understand and was good at explaining things. The class was def not easy but he was always ready to help and explain. he's also hilarious and such a diva, he was amazing. If you suck at economics, take his class, he is an amazing teacher.
George is one of my favorite professors at Mizzou. He does a very good job explaining things. I've taken two classes with him now, and he has been generous with bonus points in both. He's a super funny guy, and I enjoy going to his lectures.
He is very structured and helpful whenever you need help, great teacher
Clearly explains expectations and makes material easy to understand.
Great Professor, makes me want to major in economics, so many extra credit opportunities and really caring and you can tell he loves his job and is willing to help. I hope to take him again as he truly is great! Couldn't recommend enough!
