Very good teacher! He gets frustrated because people miss every other class and leave early, then when they dicide to show up they want him to stop in the middle of teaching us to explain to you things we did when you were not there! Try showing up once in a while. He's a good teacher and you could learn a thing or two from him!!
Great Teacher with a good attitude! Will work with your schedule, very flexible!
Mr. Coleman is a great teacher! I actually enjoyed his class only because its so structured.I know that sounds crazy, but in the beg. of class he goes over homework and then we take notes. He will go over any problems that you don't understand. I truly recommend this teacher.
I was very unhappy with Prof. Coleman. I had only A's before him and A's after him. I got a B in his class because he is very hard to understand. He is all over the board. He let the class get out of hand just about every day. I would not recomend taking him. Prof. Flax at south campus is AWESOME!!! Trust me.
Great teacher! Test are very challenging, but its not like we did not get these similar problems in the homework. He goes over Homework before start of class. If there is a problem you dont understand he will go over it in class before he starts his lectures. Flexible.
Prof. Coleman will get you through his class; however, you will end up doing alot of homework and methods which could be narrowed down and much more simple. Yeah, he's cool. But if you want someone profficient I suggest Louis Calavechio (last name spelling may be incorrect).
If do not do the homework, if you not read the chapters he has listed to be covered for the next class and if you do not take note on the problems he says is an important concept you will struggle through the entire class. So i suggest you consider it before taking him. He is a good teacher. Don't come late, leave early or miss classes.
great teacher, very helpful, and clear in his teaching. Just do your home work and your practice problems, attend each class and you should have no problem passing this course. This is a teacher that is down to earth and always to take time out of his day to help. You will enjoy him.
I really enjoyed this class. He is a great teacher. Test's are challenging, but I got an A. He gives you a chance to miss the final exam if you have a B average or above. I got to miss the final.
He gets frustrated when anyone has a question. If you tell him to just stop he continues trying to explain. He jumps to the conclusion about your questions.
Mr. Coleman would indeed get frustrated if you had questions. If you have not taken Beginning or Elementary Algebra before taking his class, you may have a hard time. Make sure you do practice problems and homework.
This class was definitely not one of the easiest I ever took, but as long as you do your homework, especially the practice problems you'll be okay. He was not the easiest teacher to ask for help, would often snap back at students when they were confused. I can't say he was the best of teachers, but he wasn't the worst either.
He is a hard teacher- he teaches very fast and doesn't explain the information clearly. If you ask questions he gets upset. The only good thing is that his tests are multiple choice. If you work well with fast paced teachers and can catch on quickly taske him, if not I don't recommend him.
This was my second time taking Prof. Coleman... No complaints.. Great teacher, highly recommend
He seems unsure of himself at times and isn't the best at explaining concepts. The practice problems and Homework will help you pass the class. When we are behind and he's rushing he will often get upset if you don't understand.Overall not the best teacher if u need things explained to you,but an easy A none the less if u have general math knowledge
If you can learn by examples this is the teacher for you. The work is very minimal and you choose if you want to do homework or not. He is not very clear and it seems hard for him to explain sometimes, if you strugle in math don't take him.
He is awesome, a lot of work though but he is very helpful and nice, he'll exempt you from the final exam if you have an A average!
Prof. Coleman was an all around good teacher. He was helpful but not to the point where its wasting everyone's time. DO ALL home work and ALL practice problems and pass the class with an A pretty much. Make a 90 average on the 4 tests and you don't have to take the final. DO ALL HOMEWORK. GET a graphing calc. ti-83 and use it to your advantage ;-)
he doesn't know how to explain things well if you have a question. he stays on his pace, and does not slow down to explain anything. if you have a question, good luck getting an answer that helps. if he tries explaining it, it will confuse you more..
He doesn't know what he is doing, very confusing. Class stays till last mint. You can only miss one class, the second time you miss his class, he'll take pnts off your grade :( I learned more from the CD in the back of the book than from him :(
Took in-class, not online. Good teacher. He knew the material he was teaching but sometimes it wouldn't come out as clear as he intended it to. There's no reason why someone shouldn't be able to pass his class. 4 tests, homework is optional, final is optional if you have a B average after the tests. He even drops your lowest test score.
Same teacher for MAT 1003 and MAC 1105. Easy A. He knew the material he was teaching but sometimes it wouldn't come out as clear as he intended it to. There's no reason why someone shouldn't be able to pass his class. 4 tests, homework is optional, final is optional if you have a B average after the tests. He even drops your lowest test score.
THE BEST,MOST FUNNIEST,MOST DETAILED AND DOWN TO EARTH PROFESSOR.HE HELPED ME PASS MAT 0024 FOR THE SECOND TIME! MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN CLASS,AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
He was a very good teacher. He gets excited at times and ends up raising his voice a little but not cause he's angry. The homework is harder than the tests but the homework isn't really that hard. He usually lets class out bout five minutes early. (the evening class anyways)
Professor Coleman was absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. I taught myself everything through out the course. He seemed unsure of him self and made simple concepts hard to understand because he is horrible at explaing things. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He goes through things so quickly and with minimal/no questioning on the subject matter. It should be an easy course for someone who has a decent understanding of the algebra already but for me it was impossible. I studied my notes, did the homework and still failed each quiz. I took MAT1033 and still feel like I missed a course prior to this one.
Mr. Coleman is a horrible teacher.... Things are never explain and he doesn't answer the questions he is asked by students. He makes a excuse to move on.
Do not take Prof. Coleman if you get math even a little you will be teaching yourself. Everything he teach is straight from the book which is never any help. When he tries to make up his own problem he can never figure it out. The TI Cal isn't used for anything was a waist of money. He is ok personally, but horrible teacher!!!
G. Money Coles is a ballin' teacher. He is the true definiton of a brosky. He comes in hot wherever he goes. He teaches with reckless abandon. Never back down.
I took him for Precalculus. I honestly thought he was a great teacher. He truly cares about his students success, and is always willing to work with you in any situation. He is a brilliant mind, but is not very clear in his teaching. However you can stay after class, and he will go over things step by step with you. Very patient and understanding.
if ur planning on hating math take his class.i love math so much and he made me hate it.he doesn't explain,he always makes mistakes in teaching.not clear and not sure.he always use a calculater ,he doesn't have a math brain.his tests r hard comparing to his teaching.he is BAD
This dude does not explain anything!!!
completly awful.. do not take his class
hes unhelpful
I use to love math. But I have no interest what so ever for it. He makes the littlest things complicated. He also does not explain things when doing examples to well and moves to fast sometimes just to finish off the chapter. Other than that he is very laid back and down to earth, you get take home quizzes which he gives you a week to do.
He Loves the word "OK",every other word he says is "OK". Math is something I enjoy very much, but this class was a pain. I have taken his Hybrid class and it was way to much work. This is definitely a class that requires you to learn on your own.
This professor was awesome, funny, and very helpful. He takes his time to help you if you ask. I would take his class again. I got an A.The only way you could fail his class is if you don't try. Easy A.
IT TOOK SOME TIME FOR ME TO GET IT.. BUT PRF. COLEMAN MADE SURE I DID. IF YOU WORK FOR THE BEST YOU CAN DO PRF. COLEMAN WILL MAKE SURE YOU GET THERE AND FURTHER.. FROM NOTHING TO AN A.. TAKE NOTE AND DO THE WORK AND YOU HAVE IT MADE
Professor Coleman is an aswsome teacher. He helps you understand the material and will work with you until you get it. Take good note and do your work and attendance is mandatory. You will pass this class if you try and ask for help if you don't understand. He offers alot of encouragement to help you keep going. He is very funny. Great Personality.
This is a great professor. I am really diappointed by the bad ratings because this professor really take his time and help you. He really wanna see his students succeed. If you fail this class, you really didn't try. He is nice and very funny. He has a great personality. He is very patient.
Take this professor, you won't regret it. He really encourage his students to learn. He is very patient and funny. Awesome professor.
if you already know math and need an easy 3 credits, take mr. coleman for college algebra, if you need a little help, he is good at teaching but only in a 1 on 1 situation, he's really a funny guy and i enjoyed his class
I absolutely love this teacher. He works with you, even when you fail he continues to let you retake quizzes and test.
Unless you are coming from high school with prior knowledge of algebra/trig I do not recommend Coleman. Near the end of the semester he stops teaching completely and expects students to complete the rest of the course (3 chapters, 4 quizzes and 2 test) in just 2 weeks.
Professor Coleman was not helpful, did not teach, missed class frequently with no notification. He gets annoyed and agitated when you have question. He lets you know that there are tutors available but is unwilling to personally help. Do Not take him for Intermediate Algebra!!!
Coleman is a man that sits there and does nothing and wants to call himself a teacher. He gets paid to do nothing. He students hate him and the only way to get help in his class is if you have t&a.
Coleman likes to sit there and do nothing and call himself a teacher. He gets paid to refuse students help and get annoyed if they ask a question. The only way to get help in his class is if you have T&A.
Coleman likes to sit there and do nothing and call himself a teacher. He gets angry when you ask a question the only way to get help in this class is if your figure is 36 24 36.
This is a very bad teacher. He is not helpful, and could care less about his stundents. Please Dean stop wasting my time and money on a lazy worthless so called teacher.
DO NOT take Professor Coleman, I repeat, DO NOT take Professor Coleman! I passed the class with a B but I struggled the WHOLE WAY thorugh the class. He does not answer questions, gets mad when you ask, when send you out to the learning center to get help. I learned nothing from this teacher. DO NOT TAKE!
I would under no circumstance EVER, EVER refer to this professor as a teacher at all. Do not assume that he will teach you, this is a teach yourself class and you will be constantly referred to the tutors in the Math-lab or to watch your videos in mathxl. Personal matters outside the classroom are of more interest to this professor.
ATTENTION: Do not take professor Coleman! He is a horrible math teacher! Very disrespectful and does not care to teach you ANYTHING! All he cares about is sitting on his butt and collecting a paycheck.
I took Intermediate Algebra 20 years ago and failed it, hadn't looked at it since. I took this class, Coleman was very helful and made sure you understood. You can miss class but you must keep up with the work. Also take the practice tests! I got an A in the class and finished it early.
I don't know what the other guys are talking about. Professor Coleman is very respectful and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. The only way to fail his class is to not show up. If you show up on time and pay attention, you will pass!
I heard great things about Professor Coleman before I started the class. I am deeply sorry I took this class and my GPA is going to suffer completely. His tests are no freaking joke, if you don't know the material inside and out - you will fail. I didn't learn a thing and has to teach myself the entire semester. Horrible professor.
Professor Coleman is very helpful if you have concerns and an all around nice guy! You do however need to attend class and do the study guides because they count for 7 points on your overall grade at the end of the semester. Since the work is online you have to be careful not to get behind
well I lost interest in class within a couple weeks. To be honest I did not learn a thing. But I suppose we are all suppose to be a wiz at math
Not an easy course, but he is very helpful. I struggled in the beginning and i knew i needed to get it together. i reached out to him and he told me to keep trying. I worked my butt off the last couple of weeks, and he saw i was really trying. He will help if u ask and only if you help yourself first. IF there is a will there is away!
Mr Coleman is not a very great teacher so good for anyone who isn't so good in math. He explains the material on a level as If we already know it. If we knew it already, we would NOT need the class right?? He makes you feel dumb when you ask questions for a better understanding. I would not recommend him unless you are already good in math
He is very hard. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone. He doesnt help you instead he makes you feel dumb for ot knowing. I regeret taking him and most likley have to take this class over again.
he is not helpful, he is also very confusing. He went 2 class session without a lecture and then moved to a new chapter on mathxl i would not take him.
He is an ok teacher/not the worst but I didn't like the fact he makes you do study guides outside of mathxl that goes in your notebook. I would have liked his class better if he didn't add this extra work that isn't needed. He is helpful and will explain things after class if needed. He does move pretty fast going through the material during class.
He was very easy to me. the program we used for assignments was sometimes easy if you know the subject well. in his lectures he will sometimes mess up and you will have to correct him. he does move on quickly. he allows you to retake quizzes, work etc. I didn't have to take the final because I had an A in the class, but overall i like the class.
I actually enjoyed Mr Colemans class. He is an awesome instructor. He DEFINATELY knows his stuff! You have to get to know him to appreciate his personality. If you have patience in yourself, you can handle him as well. Awesome teacher!
he isn't the best teacher but he will help when asked. he will make you come during his office hours and he will seat with you one on one. you can make up test. at the end of the semester if you had an A you could skip your final.
If you do assigned work you will pass. Easy A. Coleman is always available. If you get behind just email him and he will understand.
Self taught class, self motivated. Never lectures, will help if asked but usually the tutors are the ones to help. Must attend class (even though there's no point because you can do it from home&he doesn't lecture) he gets very upset when you don't attend & holds it over your head. Must do notes for each section & keep them in a binder.
I had taken Mr. Coleman for MAT1103 and MAC1105 and I enjoyed his class. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed in his class so he will do anything to help you. I would recommend him to anyone.
Professor Coleman isn't a very good teacher. He would lecture rarely on the current subject, and if he did lecture, it would be after we did the homework. He left the lecturing to our internet program which was essentially a YouTube video on math. Find another professor and take Coleman's class only if you have to.
He's always willing to help you and answer questions but however he cover too much criteria in one class setting. He moves extremely fast and teach as if students already know the material that's being taught. You will only pass the class if you study hard and work with the math tutors. His test isn't hard as long as you study.
Professor Coleman is a good teacher for kids who are motivated and willing to work. He constantly checks for understanding in class. He follows the book and covers all sections with no confusion. He also gives partial credit back on test questions and explains where you went wrong. The final exam in the class is optional. I definitely recommend.
Great teacher, he will work you hard and make you work for your grade but he covers all the material pretty thoroughly though he is a little fast. He's easy to get ahold of and is always willing to help if your willing to put forth the effort.
The class was self taught. This professor did not lecture after about the first 2 or 3 weeks of the semester. If you are not already good at math you will have a hard time passing his class. He expects the computer to teach you and you will be very dependent on tutors. He allows retakes but you have to have to learn on your own.
I was not good at algebra in highschool, but I would have to recommend George Coleman as an algebra professor! The homework is easy (But I found the software he used to be buggy), the tests are a bit of a challange, but he leaves good feedback, he'll show you what you did right and what you did wrong. Would totally recomend!
This teacher is the best math teacher i have ever had. If you prefer a teacher that is not always breathing down your neck and can be reasoned with. this is the teacher you need. if you have a busy schedule like me you need flexibility and he will give you just that. he truly is an amazing teacher and i would defiantly take him again.
I would not recommend this professor. If you are taking his class online, you will have a hard time passing his class. Does not respond in a timely matter if you need help. Also, addresses you by your last name and not using Miss, Mrs, or Mr. Regretfully, I have to take this course again.
Lectures weren't mandatory and even if you missed one, the online homework given has study tools. Easy professor.
The work is not super hard it's the weight of each assignment that fluctuates your grade so much. 50+ homework assignments and they only count for 11% of your grade. 18 quizzes that are 13%. 4 tests that are 70%. Mandatory attendance just to do your work online. Hardly ever lectures and makes you keep detailed notes of each lesson for no reason.
Nice guy, but this class has a terrible set up. There are 4 tests throughout the course which makes up 70% of your grade. Does not let you use notes on tests. Also, he hardly ever lectured and this was an in-class course. If I wanted to take an online class I would have. This class was self taught. I highly recommend you to NOT take this professor.
This was a hybrid course and quizzes and homework were all done in Mymathlab. He made his own exams; however, most problems are similar to the Practice Tests found at the end of the chapters. You really have to study outside of class because he does not cover everything during his lectures. He basically teaches the basics and the rest is up to you.
I've taken Coleman for my last three math courses (Algebra, Trig, Precal) because he is so caring, a great teacher, and always available either through office hours or email. I wish I could take all my math classes with him. Great professor who cares about his students!
Mr, Coleman is a wonderful professor , he cancels classes from time to time but very reasonable he doesn't give much work an he makes Learning math pretty easy ,' SERIOUSLY"
Amazing professor made learning math easy.
He is unorganized, we never know when we have an online class as he doesn't let us know prior to it. So i ended up waiting all the time for no class to begin. Really upsetting. He also posted the syllabus like the first day of class and i was rushing last minute to read it and know a few things. I struggled the whole semester.
Took his online regular academic session class. I would not take him if you struggle with math as he did not do a great job explaining anything, and you definitely have to teach yourself in this class, so if you are visual learner it can be difficult. Ive heard hes a better teacher in person so maybe my online experience was different
Not the best but not the worst
If you're not good with math I wouldnt suggest this professor. Doesn't teach well, although he is very caring. He is a genuinely nice person, just doesn't make sure his students understand the concept. In this class you must teach yourself. I am a straight A student and still received a C in this class :/ This was the reason I stressed in school
Doesn't teach you anything and gives you loads of work.
If you're not good with math I wouldn't suggest this professor. Doesn't teach well, although he does look out for you in a way. I had to use the tutors every single week to even barely pass. DO NOT TAKE! it is not worth the headache
I honestly liked Prof. Coleman, he's a very nice professor, cared about his students, and wanted to be sure you understood the material, he may not be for everyone when it comes to his lectures and material but I would take him again.
This is an easy class, clear grading process and online resources available to pass. Uses MyMathLab by Pearson. Sometimes the lectures were confusing so the mini videos by Pearson came in clutch. You can find the mini-videos by logging into MyMathLab>select etext Contents>select chapter/section> select "Watch the videos for this section"
He did not teach any material just had you read the online textbook. He also was unresponsive when emailed.
Love him. Great at explaining topics, dont be scared to ask questions. I took him for two classes and am registered for a third. Sometimes misses lectures but its not needed if you use khan academy as well. Proctered testing was easy and very similar to hw assignments. Dont be lazy and its an easy A. The tests are worth a lot.
DO NOT TAKE. He teaches pre calculus like a history class using slides. He is the worst math teacher i have ever had in my life. He will go through a slide and "be like this is how you do this, ok ok haha" and weirdly laugh. I have been to a total of 4 lectures he missed 2 and has done a total of 4 written out examples in 4 lectures.
Professor Coleman has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class can work well. The lectures are worth attending, and using resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can really help with study prep.
He's a very caring professor.
