*Worst college teacher*
Worst teacher on campus
Worst teacher I have ever had!! I think he is the devil.
He has a hard class but it is worth it. you get a lot out of it. He is also very helpful!
Interesting lectures but EXTREMELY hard. 89.99%=B. MUST attend class to do well.
Horrible experiance with this teacher! I learned a lot but he is EXTREMELY hard. Required us to read 5 novels and remember small details which had no relevance to the class. Must recite his lectures word for word for an A on the test.
Very funny guy. He has some great examples that really clarify things. I'd definately recommend taking his class.
This proffessor is very interesting and is great overall! Only bad part was he doesnt curve at ALL, and his tests can get pretty tricky (with questions) but he explains great and makes sure everyeone knows what to do.
HARD CLASS!! BEWARE! DO NOT TAKE!
Try to take another teacher for PLS. He isn't horrible if you pay attention, but other teachers are definately going to be easier. He has a very corny humor and it shows. He's not funny. Take someone else if you can.
He is a fun guy to listen to but his test are SO HARD. This class requires a ton of meticulous reading. He expects alot from a 100 level class
He is a really great teacher, he is quite interesting to listen to. However his tests are hard as hell and he doesn't grade on anything else.

This class is extremely hard. One of the most annoying things about the class is that you cannot blame him for not teaching. Everything that is teaches you is on the test. However, the tests are extremly hard. He is entertaining though.
HARD AS HELL
His class is very hard, but if you are going to become an attorney, you might want to take his class. For a 101 he teaches way overboard.
Only take him if you are Political Science MAJOR. This class was impossible. He is VERY crabby and treats the class like high schoolers.
I loved this class. have to go to every class but if you do everything is clear and his tests are 95% in class stuff. He does use court cases more so than others but it will help on the common final. He is a great fun teacher.
He's just plain mean. I am an A student and had to spend ridiculous amounts of hours studying to barely get a B. He keeps you awake with his evil jokes, Change professors.
This gut teaches the stuff, but his tests are super intense. Lots of court cases and be prepared to read every night
Save yourself NOW. This is the ablolute worst teacher your could ever take! No, I'm not kidding. He thinks he is teaching a coure in PLS for a masters degree, it is just a GEN ED! Long boring lectures too much info and jokes that r not funny!.
stop whining people. this is college. yea, pls is tough stuff but he explained it well enough for me to pull a b.
Beware of the Legislative Process class. Dr. Connor is the king of catching people cheating. He has a killer project that will take forever. I would reccommend staying away if you don't like work and a huge project.
Yeah some of us are NOT PLS people and yes it is a GEN and this guy's a big ****!!! if u do decide to drop out- do it on time! he's a **** about giving u an N. PS. seriosly if you're not a PLS person- don't take this class.
Very tough class, but very interesting and fun. You work for a good grade, but you learn a lot. I would recomend Dr. Connor to anyone who is up for a challange and wants to enjoy class. He is very hard, however.
Dr. Connor is a great professor if you are really interested in the political process. However, if you don't like politics and do like skipping class he should be the last professor you take for this course.
Excellent teacher. Picks on Greeks, difficult tests, lots of reading, lots of court cases, and he uses 3 books. He is an excellent teacher though. Take it if your up to an academic challenge!
He is a great teacher! He really teaches the entering freshman a lesson in how to study for college courses. I recommend him! He wants his students succeed and will help anyone out to succeed not only in his class but also college.
Makes a rather doable Gen Ed impossible. Teaches almost nothing related to the common final. Focuses too much on alternate texts, i.e. Gideon's Trumpet. Make sure to read the textbook explicitly if you plan to pass the common final.
If you really like Political Science it's a great course. If you can't stand it find a better teacher. He covers a LOT of material in a very short amount of time and his notes aren't the easiest to follow. We learned way more than necessary in this class.
He is not a very good teacher. Makes you feel like he wants you to fail. I had to drop cause thier was no way of bringing up my grade. Teaches as though we already know everything about PLS. Stay away from this teacher.
he is completely awful!!!
Don't listen to all these other people saying they had to drop a class and stuff. It's College, its supposed to be somewhat challenging. Even so, this class is EASY. He tells you exactly what is on the test. NO suprises at all. I recommend him, and his class was actually sorta fun.
If you are here for an education take him. It's worth it.
Dr. Connor is very animated in his lectures, but his notes are hard to follow and he covers a lot of stuff that doesn't relate to the common final. If you have a choice don't take him.
Dropped his class within the first two weeks. Dont take him unless you have to.
Highly recommend finding a different teacher if possible. Seriously considering dropping the class. Dry sense of humor, puts trick questions on the test and admits it, and the average test grade was a 61%. Don't take him!
Worst teacher I have ever had! Only class that I have ever dropped in 4 years of college.
this class is not hard if you study the material and definitions, and he tells you that on the first day of class. it is an easy A or B. if you dont study, do not take the class!
dont take it. he requires u to know his notes, the books, another book with articles, and a book written by Plunkett (as like a side reading) he will not give ne leway AT ALL. he jokes about NOT givin xtra credit, dropping low grades, and curves. No matter what ppl say. HE'S AREALLY HARD TEACHER. I WAS 10 MIN LATE FOR TEST-GAVE ME ZERO. NO MAKE UP
Taking him was a terrible mistake. He thinks that he is hilarious. Tons of reading...tests are a nightmare. Take ANY other professor for pls 101.
I really enjoyed his class and he is helpful if you go in and ask him for help. If you don't read or study, then you may not want to take this class.
I graduated MSU with a Political Science major in 2003. He was far and away the worst professor in the department, and I have to assume he remains so. Beyond being an awful teacher, he's simply a prick. A smug prick. I challenge you to find a worse teacher.
Terrible teacher, does not care what happens to his students. Over half of my class dropped it and half of the others still in it are failing. Even if you read the book, take good notes, and go to class everyday it will get you nowhere! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
for those that whine that this is SO HARD! grow up you're in college. i highly recommend freshmand to take him, he gives you a proper way to study and is a role model to other teachers for sticking to the syllabus. you can say he's hard but you know exactly what he wants on the first day. read the book, memorize the key terms and study your notes.
Although he seems like a good guy, as a teacher he fails. I had way too many problems trying to even figure out what he was talking about or fallow anything that was going on, and his tests are way too hard. my advise dont take him at all costs
Please for the love of God everyone run and save yourself. I would write more but he is not worth it. Maybe if you are on the line of insane go for it.
He is a pretty difficult teacher...if you aren't good at staying focused THEN he's not a good teacher to have, but he is an amazing teacher. I would go as far as to say he is one of the best professors I've had...those people who don't like him are the ones who aren't willing to work for their grade. He works with you, but expects a lot from you. He is EXTREMELY entertaining and makes the class worthwhile. I highly recommend him as long as you are good at staying on top of things.
He does follow the syllabus. No extra credit, exams on time, etc. I got my only B so far in college in this class because I studied the glossory definitions instead of the actual chapter text definitions in the book. A lot of the reading is boring, but he did make it somewhat entertaining but still confusing of how it all flows together.
I had him last semester, and though it at first he seems that he is very difficult, it all matters on how much effort you put on it. It sucks that he doesn't offer any extra credit, but for those who like to earn their grades in a hardworking way, it all pays off in the end.
He's a great teacher, probably the best I've had so far. Extrememly entertaining in class. But you have to work for the grades, do all the reading. I knew very little about politics and even though it was hard he inspired me to change my major.
He even says on the first day that this class is hard and everyone hates him. You have to work very hard if you want to do well. I studied for the first test & thought I was ok and I ended up failing. After that I had to dig out of a hole & ended up getting a C which was almost a B. However, I worked really hard just to get that. Take someone else.
Dr. George Connor is the worst teacher I've ever had. Do not take him. You will either end up with a low grade, or morph into one of his lemmings that try to answer his off the topic questions like "What Beatles' song am I thinking of?" Most of what will be on the final was never taugh in class.
Worst teacher on the planet. His class is way harder than anyone else who teaches it. He doesn't go over stuff more than once. Way too much material on the tests. Absolutely no help. So sarcastic he's offensive!! Never take him!!
very straightforward....somewhat difficult...if you are looking for an easy class...this is NOT it.....you have to do the readings out of fiorna if you want to do well on tests
He is very sarcastic, but overall a good teacher.
This teacher does not care about his students!!
Dr. Conner is difficult, don't expect an easy A. You have to do the readings and pay attention. But if you really want to learn something, take Conner. One of the best teachers I've had. I changed my major to Political Science after his class.
This guy was horrible. He was great with understanding students but a very difficult teacher overall. Hard to understand and follow. I would take someone else.
I enjoyed this class a lot, but don't take it if you're pretty soft skinned or get offended easily. Dr. Connor is extremely sarcastic, rude, and self-admittedly mean. He won't give you a break and you definitely have to work for your grade, but you will learn a lot.
He is a sucky teacher. Everything went right over my head. Don't expect a good grade unless you have 20 extra hours in your week to study because he will pick the tiniest example in the book and put it on a test. If you are in there, DROP!!! I wish I would have.
stop whining little kids, connor's class is not easy and he's no peice of cake, but this is COLLEGE people. i worked my a55 off and got a b when i usually get a's but i actually learned something which will help me in the real world, which is what COLLEGE is all about
Very sarcastic. And fun.
Hard teacher, but helps you learn a lot. Tests are hard, you have to study but class is entertaining!
INSANELY hard class. I am no fool, studied very hard, talked to him repeatedly, barely passed. Tedious, sarcastic, and worst of all, a ton of time studying for a subject that had little or nothing to do with my major. GET OUT NOW!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! If you notice the "smily face" comments, you will realize they all say "this is college, people," and that is because they have turned into one of Connor's clones. That is NOT how college should be. You should not have to dread going to every class because the teacher's an A**! NOT WORTH IT!
He is very nice and sarcastic…he tries to make the subject interesting. Overall he is not that difficult. He tells you in class exactly what he wants on the test. Just put on the test what he says in class and you are fine. So yes, you have to go to class. He isn’t boring and keeps you entertained.
If you have this guy in PLS 101, you need to drop NOW!!! There are so many other good ones that DON'T add an extra book and actually teach you what's on the common final. I truly wish I would have dropped. This class was the worst choice I've made in college.
I dont understand the ratings... he is AWESOME!. he is funny, easy to understand, and his tests are easy! people just dont want to read or study i guess...
This class is only bearable if you've had Political Science before, but if you're new to it, I would definitely get another teacher because this one makes you read an extra book, which is just stupid, and he is basically a mean sarcastic guy. NO THANKS! (Save yourself and get someone else!)
DROP! DROP! DROP! That's all I have to say...
No matte what people say about him for PLS 101, if you're one of us unlucky ones that has to take PLS 103, it's a piece of cake if you watch the videos. He doesn't make the tests hard because I think he already feels sorry for you that you have to take that class.
I spent approximately 18 full hours studying for the second exam in this class after getting a 60% on the first one, and managed a 68%. Department head: can you say egomaniac?
This class was the worst idea I have ever had at MSU. DO NOT TAKE. He has a thing against grade inflation and proves. He purposely gave me a lower score on the paper to screw me out of an A. He is a smart guy. I wish he would wise up about his methods. I didn't learn anything, except how to cram useless information.
Dr. Connor is the man. I was dreading Political Science, because it's hard for me to understand, but he made everything really comprehensible and interesting. He is so fun to listen to. Study hard for the tests and go to class. Beware the common final. Dr. Connor rules.
Most difficult class ever. No exaggeration. Do not take unless you're ok with a D. Got a 4.0? Not anymore. Impossible to get an A. Incredibly difficult to get a B. Study for 20 hours to get a low C on the test, if you're lucky and hit on the buzz words he finds fancy. His ego could feed Nigeria.
first test is alright, the 2nd test was killer. A on the first test, C on the 2nd test.ended up with a B, since its only 2 tests, better know the subject
This class is harder than I expected. Some of the questions on the tests are super vague things he mentions once, so you have to pay attention to every little thing he says. He's a funny/nice guy, but it kinda sucks that you only have two tests. By the time you see how his tests look, you've already screwed up half of your grade.
I took PLS 103 online and the video lectures are great. Dr. Connor teaches to a class that doesn't exist that almost makes you feel like you're there. Plus it can be entertaining. Content is not hard. Watch all the videos, take notes, and read the text (only 10 pages per test) and you will get an A.
If you are planning on taking Dr. Connor for PLS 103, DO NOT DO IT. Take it at a community college. He tests over the most irrelevant stuff, so lots of test questions are over things you wouldn't even think to study. There are only 100 points in the class so each question you miss drops you a percentage point.
Read the book, read the book, read the book. Did I mention that you should read the book? You really only need to read Congress Reconsidered, but you definitely need to read it. He expects a lot of detail on the tests. Be prepared to study hard, but the class is very interesting.
Online lectures and in class tests. There are only two tests that factor into your grade and they are tough. He doesn't curve and gives no extra credit.
To be successful in this class, you HAVE to read and watch the lectures. They are important and you do not want to fail and you WILL FAIL if you don't use the material given. HE is the head of the department so he knows what he is talking about. He is a sweet and very helpful professor though, you just have to believe in yourself first.
Class isn't nearly as hard as people make it out to be. Problem is that there are no second chances in this class. Do bad on either of the tests, and you're stuck with a bad grade. However, the tests are NOT hard. None of the questions require any analysis - all fact based (ex: What does the treasurer do?). Watch lectures + read and you'll be fine
it is a level 100 class and it feels like a level 300. He is funny in his lectures, but rude if you ask a question about the answers on the test. possible superiority issue? Also make sure you look up in detail all cases and know it basically word for word for the test.
It's made clear from day 1 how to do well in the class: Pay attention in class, read the textbook, and do the online content. If you can do that, Connor is an amazing teacher with a great sense of humor!
Conner was a very cynical teacher, but sometimes made class fun, SOMETIMES! He is never available after class you have to make an appointment to talk to him. 4 tests, thats it. no other grades except dumb pretests worth 15 points that don't go with test material. Horrible experience would not recommend 1/10 made me wanna die. get out while you can.
Was a blast
Listen to him. First day he gives you how to pass class. In textbook, BOLD and ITALICS words, those definitions. Take good notes in lectures. Study that, you will pass. The online homework and quizzes, study those, also. Those are the three things I studied, got an A. Very straightforward, helpful when needed, this is an easy class.
Dr. Connor is an amazing instructor. His lectures are engaging, easy to understand, and very insightful. Beware: he only gives test grades. Tests are 50-50 lecture and textbook. You'll actually have to read and take notes over the textbook and be very engages in class to make it out of this class with a B. Very few students earn As.
He is a great teacher and wants to get you involved in the lectures, which you have to go to. His tests are hard but if you read the book and reread your notes you should do fine. I appreciate how he made me work for my grade in the class.
GO TO CLASS!!! This does not feel like 101 class! Not only is he degrading when someone answers his questions during the lecture but rude! His ego is so extremely high, he thinks he knows everything and during lectures he jumps from topic to topic. 10/10 don't recommend taking him I you want to maintain a good GPA!
Do not take Conner, its a trap. You are setting yourself and your grade up for failure. If you love lots of reading and confusing lectures go ahead and take him. Highly don't suggest if you want to come out with a B or above.
He tells you from day one what to expect. But still nothing like I thought. Lectures are confusing on everything. He can be funny in class but not to many think he is because everyone is just trying to figure out the lectures and not fail again. Dont recommend. Made my gpa drop a lot and I studied over a week for each test.
Although he was friendly and clear from the beginning, I was very disappointed in the level clarity on his lectures. I was confused and most of us were barely passing. He gives a long and unattainable list of things to do to pass his class. I recommend (for PLS 101), if you take him, study and memorize the terms more than reading.
Overall, this class should not be a level 100 class. I had friends taking PLS from different professors, and they said their class was fairly easy. With Dr. Connor, I found the class to be very difficult. It's a ton of reading, which he requires you to remember each flash card with 100+ terms for each test. The lectures are confusing as well.
Not going to lie, his 101 class is hard, but if you know how to study you'll do fine. In order to pass a test you need to know book terms and emphasized things from lectures. Most of the terms are fairly common sense, and the lectures are interesting enough to remember. MUST STUDY FOR TESTS!!!
Dr. Connor is a very nice man and he really wants his students to succeed, but this course was very difficult. You have to devote a lot of time outside of class or you will never get above a C on his tests. He does not provide study guides and doesn't use powerpoint, only writes a couple things on the board during lecture. Study Hard.
Be prepared to put in a lot of work. Your grades are comprised of 5 exams. Each exam has 50 questions in total. 25 from lecture, 25 from book, so attendance is mandatory. Very cynical and sarcastic when teaching. Unable to reach after lecture unless by appointment or email. Repeatedly told students he didnt care about us at all. (Not a vibe imo)
Worst teacher youll ever have. Must attend class or youre screwed for every test. All tests are 50 questions with half being from the lecture and the other half from the textbook. He doesnt even talk about the textbook in class. Avoid at all costs.
Dr. Connor apparently didnt get the memo that this is only a 100 class. He only puts in 5 grades the whole semester - all test grades. All he does is lecture so if you miss a class, youre done for. His tests are 50 questions - half from lecture & half from the textbook that he doesnt even talk about. His lectures are often unclear. Avoid.
Dr. Connor is a good lecturer but when it comes to his test they are very detailed. If you do not like reading textbook for class then I would not take him. As half of the test are over the book. The only points in the grade book is the exams that you take and the reading. If you are not a good test taker I would advise to take a different teacher
Dr. Connor has very interesting lectures, and you have to come to class or you won't pass. The tests are 1/2 book, 1/2 lecture. He offers no extra credit, so the tests are very important. While I enjoyed the material, the tests were very hard. He is willing to help if you go to office hours, & I used the bear claw tutors to get my grade up to a B.
5 exams and no final. No extra credit or late work allowed. You need to study a lot for the tests cause they can be tricky. Very few grades go in so it can be hard to raise grade if you do bad on a test. Lectures are not recorded/posted so make sure you attend class. Not the worst professor but not the easiest, Im sure there's way better ones.
Would avoid at all costs. Only get graded from 4 50 question exams. 25 questions from vocab over 4 chapters and 25 questions over what he talked about in separate lectures. Really hard to study for, no study guide. Hardest class I've ever taken.
LOVE Dr. Connor. He is a hardass, but he cares so much about his students. He gives great feedback, and is a great resource for career-related things. He has many contacts and is willing to help his students. His class is hard, but he is willing to help and give you honest feedback. I have taken his classes multiple times and would again.
Worst professor I've had in college. I had one conference with him and he was so mean to me. The tests are stupid and don't reflect actual comprehension of the material. If you miss a lecture have fun trying to do okay on the test. only was 5 tests and a few points of homework which saved my grade. Take literally anyone else.
DO NOT TAKE CONNOR you can get the credits from other classes and SHOULD. He is an bad teacher who expects blind regurgitation of useless information you will not need in life or political science field. He is often unavailable for office hours and does not respond to email. He is consistently rude and will bring up that he is a Dr. every 5 mins.
No extra credit, no late work, and no room for excuses or slacking. He is very test heavy and it will impact your grade tremendously. It is possible to pass the class but it will take a lot of work, time, and determination. The test will reflect what is talked about in class and the textbook but it is a lot of information.
I really enjoyed Dr. Connors lectures. He knows what he is talking about and teaches it in a great way. I thought his lectures were interesting and captivating, and I really did enjoy going to his class. However, the tests were unnecessarily hard for a gen ed class. The grades are very test-heavy, and you CANNOT skip class.
Not a fan
His lectures are genuinely painful to get through. He does not give any extra credit and does not provide a curve to your tests. He also does not accept any late work. Do not take his class.
Tests are 50% lecture and 50% vocab. If you truly want to do good, read the book. GO TO CLASS! Otherwise you won't do good on tests. He knows what he's talking about and if you take good lecture notes and know how to study them, you should do good. If you want quizlets to study the vocab @lyd_roth has good ones.
Took his class in Fall of 2023 and it wasn't the best class ever. Your grade consists of 4 tests and like 60 points of online "assignments". With all the test grades in, the assignments dont even matter tbh. Lectures were pretty fun, and he was funn. Overall, if you want to do good, try someone else
Have to go to class or you will not pass!
Horrible to listen to. Every sentence has a long pause and ends in a question. He wants super specific answers to his question and will let everyone guess over and over until he just finally says it. He had us guessing how his grandmother would wake him up... just SPIT IT OUT. SO intolerable to listen to. He thinks he is a preacher I swear.
Find a different professor!
If you show up and pay attention in this class, it is not the most difficult class. His lecture style is hard because he does not use any visual aids or PowerPoint. There are very few points and with no extra credit it is a little hard. If you take his class seriously exactly as he says to, you can pass but it will not be easy.
Lectures are so hard to get through... says material for quite sometime assumed to be significant but only to be followed by "DON'T WRITE THAT DOWN HAHA". Lectures are the most confusing and antagonizing hour and fifteen of the day due to his long pauses only to be followed with a question or a long awaited correct answer from a student.
Mr. Connor is highly intelligent & knows a lot about Political Science, but dumps all of that information onto the 101 class. The only grades are a few points for online work & then the majority from the 4 exams we are given. Half of the exams are content from his lectures, which he won't post any notes from so you must be at class or you'll fail.
Please do not take him. His lectures are based on his biases. If you get a bad grade on your exam, there is no coming back.
Professor Connor's lectures can be tough, but Unstuck ai was a gamechanger for prep. Attend class, use the textbook, and you can do well despite the challenging exams.
