I've had him for both online and in class. Online he's a bit harder because he'll take your opinion and destroy you. In class he blabbers the whole time. His tests are very easy though, and he has a cool sense of humor. He is worth taking.

I had the third highest test average in the class and he gave me a C+ because he felt I was absent too many times to be able to get such a good grade. In other words, he inferred that I cheated!!! He's not at all helpful and only sees things his way!

Here is a case of one of the most brilliant in his field not being teaching well. Lectures are uninspiring. I love the subject but found it extremely hard to become engaged and participate in class. I never once exhanged with classmates. Terrible

Dorky dude with a bass. He is extremely organized, but very difficult and expects lots of discussions on bulletin board. I got a B, only because his tests are easy. Tip: get the answers for his practice tests write & print them out, same as mid & final.

Why say "blahhh"? I really liked this class a lot more than I thought I would. I realy questioned my belief system in this class. I wasn't sure how to think about the existence of God and how we all got here, etc. I did learn that it is acceptable to be confused and to question things.

This class was intense and extremely thorough. I enjoyed it in its entirety. What I loved the most was the power point presentations. They were so well put together and flow so easily. They made everything in the text readings come together. A great class!

there is lots of participating to do if you want an "A". he is very clear about instructions, i dont know why some students ask so many questions about assignments and grading..if you thoroughly review his site, everything you need is right there. its a lot of work but just hang on!

He gives so much work for this class. Two papers and three essays! If you take him online be prepared to be participating everyday. There are lots of opportunities for extra credit. The EC tests and essays really help your final grade.

Took PHR-101 online; isn't that great of a teacher-says one thing and does another. Must participate in discussions or you'll fail. Hard grader-tests are optional and are for extra credit. Isn't that nice, can be a jerk. If you can choose another prof, DO IT!

It was a difficult subject but taught me how to write with some logic and reason. The professor was excellect. This class seemed to be more than a first year 101 course. I do not think that he could have doen anything different, as it is a difficult subject.

A very hard class!Get a best friend to take the class with you then you have a chance of passing! I don't know how I got through this class it was one of the HARDEST in BCC. I did learn a lot of things and he seriously made me think!! I was sure I was going to fail but with determination I got an A??? It is hard but it is possible! Good Luck!

I have taken many online courses and enjoyed them all except for this class. I left the class knowing nothing. He is rude and arrogant, and very unprofessional. And you can not go to the department head about his conduct because he is the department head. I would quit school before I would ever take another class of his. DON"T DO IT!!!!

Professor Cronk was very specific about what he wanted from the students. I found this to be helpful rather than intimidating. It WAS a challenge to do well in the course, but not impossible by any means. I enjoyed the course very much.

I took this course because it met the diversity requirement but I enjoyed the course and learned much also. I logged in frequently and I worked hard and I got a B. I think I could have had an A if I put more effort into it. I think Professor Cronk is knowledgeable and I think he is very fair with his grading system.

As far as work load (reading, papers, discussions) this class is pretty much middle of the road. I've taken 6 on-line courses and this Prof. was the FIRST to keep a regularly updated grade book - so it was easy to track one's own progress (no surprises here). His teaching style is clear/objective/fair. Higly recommended.

At first glance I thought this would be extremely difficult as an online class, but Dr Cronk's syllabus and outlines were ordered and easy to follow. A lot of work, but liked the fact that there wasn't a cumulative exam at the end.

Being an online class, I never met Professor Cronk, but his online syllabus and web pages were quite outstanding; and we could even call him any time for help . He did everything an online teacher could do. Online classes are for students who motivate themselves; otherwise this course will seem very hard. Prof. Cronk is an outstanding instructor.

I took his online course, but it sucked. So i took his in person course next time. I was very surprised when the class was exactly the same. I could have never shown up, since the entire lesson plan was pulled from his online class and all his tests were online too. But attendance is mandatory, and i wanted to hang myself after day one. BORING!

I took Eastern Philosophy Online, which was a great class....the material is NOT easy, and to succeed in an on-line course you must be willing to WORK and be a self starter...The teacher is great and is always there if you need help-more than other teachers i've had --and he is very clear on what you need to do.Make sure you read material and ppts!

I took Dr. Cronk's Eastern Philosophy online & I must say by the time I finished I felt absolute relief - the course didn't turn out as easy as I thought! At the same time though, I was sad because it was one of the few courses I actually enjoyed + Dr. Cronk always gave clear-cut instructions, that's one thing any online student ALWAYS appreciates.

I took Dr. Cronk's online Eastern Philosophy course. The class, though somewhat challenging at times, was still very enjoyable and interesting. Any instructions given were crystal clear. Dr. Cronk was very helpful in sorting out any confusion about the material, and gave many tips on how to succeed in the class. Definitely a class worth taking.

My third on-line class, and by far the best. The material was very well-organized, the instructions clear, the supplementary materials provided great support for the primary readings in the text. I especially found Prof. Cronk's Powerpoint slides helpful. Prof. Cronk was always available to the class by e-mail, phone, or during office hours.

This teacher is a genious, head of the philosophy department as well as the Relion department, and a lawyer. Any online class takes discipline. There is a lot of reading for sure, but each section is given adequate time. Professor Cronk is very helpful and knowledgeable on the subject. As for any class, you get what you put into it. But I think considering that it is an online class...it applies more here.

I found this professor to be very refreshing. He offered even his personal phone number and always asked us to call him if we needed help. It was not bad at all. THe openbook online test were a plus and the papers that needed to be written were fun because it was about your personal feelings on the issues of "God". Professor was definitely cool!

Cronk expected effort and graded very fairly. Tests were easy if you read material and papers were basically "student opinion." Material was somewhat dry at times, and he had trouble motivating the arrogant, disrespectful chowderheads in back of room. Not his fault really, but it didnt help the ones who wanted to learn. Rel of the World is an interesting class and I was amazed at the amount of info that Prof made avail online to us. This was a hybrid course and I enjoyed his lectures and gained new insights to the various religions and their goals. 2nd class w/Dr. Cronk, hybrid on-line one class/week, he provides a well-defined grading rubric, clear/thorough instructions/materials available on the class web-site, easy to reach with questions. It’s a pleasure to take a class in which students are expected to perform as if in college! Only grumble time spent re-and re-reviewing the syllabus.

Dr. Cronk is an absolute horror of a human being. I have vistited him in his office numerous times and he offers no assistance. His lectures are irrelevant to the course. There are presently 2 students (out of 30) in the class with B's, and the rest are in the C/D/F range. Cronk forgets that he is teaching a 101 course at a community college.

When you take an online class you should expect that the work load will be more than a regular class. I took Introduction to Philosophy with Dr. Cronk and yes it was hard, but there was nothing outrageous expected of anybody. I think everyone else needs to realize that education is not a free ride and you have to work for it.

I knew very little about Socrates, Aristotle, and all the other philosophers, similar to the other online students before I took this class. I met students through BBD discussions and we all helped one another through our discussions. The class wasn't particularly hard, but the textbook (Religions of the World by Huston Smith) is useless and inaccurate. If you openly disagree with the text on the boards (online) Prof. will delete your post. Accused me of having my husband (???) write my posts. I got an A but his ego problem is insufferable. Had him online for the fall semester. The Smith's book was hard and not always clear, but I particularly enjoyed the assignment "site visit"-it was fun and eyes opening experience. Took the online course in fall. Must say class is not easy, so if you're looking for an easy A or aren't serious about school, then don't take this class, because you will complain like the rest. I enjoyed the class. Surprisingly found myself applying the knowledge gained from the class, alittle more than i can say about some of my other courses.

I had him for Religions of the World online. Great professor, and super helpful in discussions. The class was intense to keep up with, but so well laid-out and easy to follow, so as long as you logged on about once a day, you were fine! I did really well and I was taking 3 other online courses and 2 on-campus!

I took Professor Cronk's philosophy and religion class and it was much harder than any honors class I have taken. His one word emails and nasty disposition is unbearable. Do not take his class, he offers no help and gives too much work, it's rediculous.

This online course requires you to THINK, READ, PARTICIPATE and SUBMIT WORK ON TIME. Dr. Cronk will not "dumb down" subject matter. He expects instructions followed precisely, so the grade you receive is what YOU earn. If all the professors expected the same output from students as he does, there wouldn't be so many lazy students at this school.

Took his Religions of the World class online. One of the best professors at BCC. The class is well organized. It is not easy, but this is college. If you want to learn and are willing to work for it, then this class is for you. As long as you email assignments on time, post discussions and do all the readings you will do fine.

Dr. Cronk was not easy. But he was fair. If you did the work on time and put thought into what you were doing, you were rewarded. If you are looking to take an "easy" class, do not take him. However, if you are willing to actually earn a grade and learn something, do take him. He was always available and helpful when subject matter was unclear.

I have to disagree with many; i think Dr. Cronk was an excellent teacher. My course was online and it was an Honors philosophy course. Many say that it was a hard class but I just say that he wanted to bring out the best in all of us. He was very helpful; He gave you an opportunity to retake an exam and then he chose the highest grade. Great class

All the people who had negative things to say about Dr. Cronk are either lazy or ignorant. He is extremely knowledgeable. He is demanding and I did spend a lot of time on this course, but it paid off, I learned a great deal. Slackers should not take Dr. Cronk.

Dr. Cronk is probably the best professor at BCC. Actually, he should be teaching at Harvard, not BCC. His Religion course may be tough for some, but you WILL learn. Dr. Cronk designed the course to right where it should be. It is rewarding to those who put forth the effort. That's how life is supposed to be. Work toward an A and you'll get an A!

Dr. Cronk outlined his (online) course clearly, so no questions at all about instructions. Loves what he does & it shows in his intelligence and dedication to students. You have to expect a bit of work (esp. in an honors course) but if you want to learn-you will* learn, I did. Great prof., & he gave us advice I won't forget: read better books!

Prof. Cronk was crystal clear in what was expected of you and your performance in his class. Directions were spelled out clearly. The calendar for the online class was very concise and there was no question when assignments were due and what was required. Test were fair and followed the reading and online class discussions.

I really enjoyed this class and learned alot. This was not an easy class, but everything was laid out very clearly and Dr. Cronk was always there to answer any questions. I think people forget that this is college now. The work is contant, but worth it. I loved this class.

I had him for online Religions of the World class. It wasn't an easy A unless if you followed what you were supposed to do. Just check the calender often. Alot of reading, but nothing impossible. You were allowed to take the tests twice, can't get any better. I would Def. reccoment him. Take him online!

This class was so demanding it felt like Bio almost. The teacher is quite unfair and closes posts whenever he feels like it. It's a hard class considering it's an elective. We can't all be philosopher's and he is just soooooo demanding when it comes to papers and class discussions. His tests were okay...but the class was just miserable.

WORST PROFESSOR!!!!!! He is soo rude and doesn't care about you. He doesn't help you, I emailed him asking for help and he said, "you obvisouly have no idea about this course and you have no chance of getting a good grade, NO MAKEUPS. It says that in syllabus" . I wouldn't recommend him unless you want your grade ruined

Dr. Cronk was an incredible professor. I took his online class, Religions of the World last semester. It was very challenging, but he was incredibly engaging. The discussions were meaningful and in depth, and I feel I really learned something. You will definitely have to put in the work, but you will come out learning a lot! Definitely recommend!

Dr. Cronk is very knowledgeable. Take this class if you really enjoy the subject matter. Definitely not an easy A, but if you are disciplined you should get along just fine. He's the only online Prof I've had that has responded to emails and questions within discussion so you are not in the dark. Challenging, but worth it. You learn a lot!

Dr. Cronk is an excellent online instructor. He makes himself available 24/7 via email, phone, etc. Religions of the World was a difficult, challenging course, but worth the work that was required. There is an enormous amount of reading involved, so you have to be ready to put in the time required. Overall, I have never had a better online teacher

I took an online class with Dr. Cronk and loved it. It wasn?t an easy A, but all the work was fair and fully explained. Plan on putting a lot of effort into the class and pay attention to the calendar. Dr. Cronk is extremely knowledgeable and anyone can learn a lot by taking a class with him. If I have the opportunity I would take him again.

I didn't have much knowledge of other Religions before taking this course. I took it online. To do well in this class you need to keep up with the online discussions and read the book. Its not a reg. text which is great. Fast read! Dr. Cronk is more than qualified to teach this course and offers so much information and detailed instructions.

I took this class online. Despite my interest in the topic, I could see from the get-go that this was going to be a lot of work. Even though it was online, there are a lot of things you need to keep up to date on and hand in or you'll be locked out. Thought I was going to fail, ended up with an A. Also learned a ton. I'd say definitely worth it

Professor Cronk was a great teacher, a world of knowledge. He knows this subject and he teaches it thoroughly. He is not easy, he requires you to do the reading and the work and the tests are hard but if you participate and read what you're supposed to, you'll do ok. I would totally recommend him to friends. I learned so much from his class.

The philosophy side of it was boring and the Christianity segment not relevant to today,which the book also lacked. But he’s very responsive to students who do not understand something. Professor onis one of the best Professors that i have taken at Bergen Community College. I recieved As in all the online classes that i have tan from him. Dr. Cronk's Intro to Philosophy class was definitely challenging but very worth it if you are interested in the topic. It is quite a lot of work, but Dr. Cronk makes it easy to follow and interesting. I took his class online, and I feel like if it had been any other professor I wouldn't have done well at all since philosophy can be hard. Take it!

Did not like him what so ever. Bi weekly discussions where if you don't post more than 20 times, you'll get a bad grade. He responds to students with his sarcastic attitude and makes you feel like your thoughts and opinions are done. layout of the class was horrible. Would not take again ever

professor cronk was awesome. his tests were a little tricky but as long as you participate in the discussion and do the readings you should do fine. I got an A however, I did do the reading and I did participate in the discussions at least once a day. Definitely recommend him!

Professor Cronk offers students a chance to actually learn about Philosophy. This was not in any way an easy class, but if you work hard you will get a good grade. He offers many ways to reach out to him if you have any questions or anything is unclear, which was great for an online class. Overall wonderful professor.

Prof. Cronk was great. Took him for an online religion of the world class. He was extremely clear about what was expected of you - literally told you exactly what you needed to do, how to do it, and when to do it - in order to get a good grade. He also responds to emails quickly and seems to genuinely care about his class.

Prof. Cronk is a fair teacher. In order to succeed in his class you must participate. His assignments are creative and really allows for hands on experience. This is a religion class that doesnt even focus on religion. My main concern was to learn about other religions. This course is mostly philosophy which I have 0 interest in. Professor is actually rude, not helpful at all. He kept giving me 60/100 on discussions simply because I didnt spend 2 different weeks on it. Very useless doctor shameful.

Literally horrible... I completed all the work he asked but with slight mistakes. For example I didn't post a 2 discussion posts in 2 different weeks. I have a life too and other classes to handle. For the final paper I got a high score (B) but because I didn't double space between paragraphs, spacing between title and paragraph I got an F.

NEVER take this man or any of his classes. He expects you to devote your whole life to his course. Meanwhile, he grades ALL assignments on the very last day of term and grades harshly with no explanation of why or where you lost points. Never responded to my countless emails. I learned nothing. Honestly just a very disconnected class with minimal effort. Taking full-time online asynchronous classes, I have yet to see anything such as this. A lack of teaching from the professor himself is replaced with endless lectures and articles from tens of different websites. The tests are easy enough, as they are straight from Google.

This professor gives discussions and tests weekly. Tests are based on the readings given for each section. Professor has made several mistakes on Moodle but was fair and gave an extension to the whole class. I would not recommend if you do not have much time on your hands. The discussions were fun & engaging. I have plenty of obligations, yet managed to get all the work done without issue. If you are not interested in the big picture, about existence, knowledge, morality and all that stuff- the class will be a drag. The class requires actual critical thinking and analysis rather than simple memorization. He's great.
