Very confusing, the system is flawed. and must be considerate towards students.
regarding differential, you dont have to be young or old to teach a class just know enough but dude this guy is so unclear. and he goes in his own paste he goes so quick which is unnecessary skip steps and messes up while doing it. reads off his own notes, makes to many mistakes reminds me of wolf. i had to learn by myself, this class is once a we
The system is awful but problems in it are solvable.
He's a good teacher and will take the time to help if you ask. Sometimes he goes fast but will go back and go over things again until the class gets it. If you sit there and don't say anyting then don't complain about not getting it. He's more helpful than most teachers I've had and very accomodating but can't do the work for you.
Good professor, though he gets frustrated when students dont understand the simplest problems. he would come late for our lectures and put up practice tests later than expected. hes cool to get along with. also easy on the eyes. math with him is interesting. take his class. also, easy on the eyes. ;)
he is smart and knows his math but.. exams and homework were comprised 90% of proof problems, many of which were not even in the book and were not covered properly. he does move very fast but has a pro to video-record every lecture which is then posted online so you can come back to it. very strict grader! otherwise a nice and approachable guy.
I do not recommend this teacher to the students who are not interested in theory of math. His lectures and tests are mostly about theory.
I respect prof. Dekermenjian because he really wants his students to understand the subject. He gets angry sometimes if the simple concept is not understood by a student, however he is always open for a question. I would recommend him for math majors. Tnx for the class and "God Bless You" :))
George is a really good professor. his format helps people figure out how to do math problems on their own and helps most of those people realize the real potential they have for math! However, and his temper is fine, don't take his yelling or rough speaking personal thats just the way he is, oh and he's very cute hehe such a cutiie yummy...lol ;)
He explains the subject very clearly. He is really fair with the tests. Eventhough you get the wrong answer, he will give you parcial points on tests to those studenst who understand the material. DO NOT FORGET to show your work or he will not give you any parcial points. Take his notes. His notes are easier to understand than the book examples!
He used to be a tough teachre before, but now he doesn't give proof problems. :) Really a good teacher. The homeworks help you to practice at home.
Missed 2 lectures, tests are too easy for the subject learned. way behind on syllabus. worst mistake taking him. everyone will not do well on common final. dry humor, picks on students.doesnt explain clearly at all. i had to drop him. hw was terrible. If you want to keep your GPA, AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.
worst professor, will fail you if u dont do homework or fail any test, not apporcahable unprofessional, expects to know math at this level, impossiable to talk to
He is super helpful. if u r interested in math, take him. but if u expect an easy A on his class then don't. He gave out hard assignments but very interesting. If u r willing to learn, he will help you. My favorite teacher!!!!!!!!!
I do not recommend this professor. I took him last year 2011 and it was the worst experience ever. He does not teach and besides he is unhelpful to students. Stay away and look for a better professor. He does not follow the class syllabus. Stay away!
Well for a beginner course it was ok. Honestly, I really don't think he cared; i.e. what you did. However, he worked with everyone(when he came in?)who needed help. I believe he is just a really smart guy bored by people taking non university level classes. The bottom line is: I would take him again because he does give breaks, not many.
He's an ok teacher but gives false hopes of taking the common final. Had to goto another school to take this class in order to transfer..
He was a great professor! If you don't show up to class, don't study, and don't do the homework, then you'll obviously fail. His lectures are very clear and he answers all questions. I'd recommend him to anyone who actually takes their classes seriously. He's also pretty funny. Educational yet entertaining!
dont take this class unless Mathematic is your major. He asks to remember all formulas, how formula is made and how it works. he later gives class extra credit because average test score was so low RoFL Looks like hes heartless person but he isn't
This professor is awesome! I had to retake Statistics, and he made it very clear. He teaches through the computer using Excel, so if you don't like using computers much, don't take this class. Funny guy, easy to talk to, but don't get on his nerves. He'll tell you if you're passing or not. Best advice, do the exercises.
probably the one of the best math professors at lacc. he's really passionate about math and has a great personality. be warned; he is very difficult. he wants math to be your second language. he also drills proofs into your head.
Hes a good teacher and knows what he is doing but I think he expects everyone to have the same passion in math as he does and pick up the new information as fast as he can. He explains well but goes a little fast. Doesnt do too many examples on the bored but when he does theyre easy and puts hards questions on the tests.
i took professor dekermenjian for math 115 he is a very fair teacher. very straight forward no extra credits or grading on a curve. he teaches you everything that is on the quiz and his quizzes are only a few problems each. just do the homework and dont be afraid to ask for him for help during office hours and you will be fine!
Doesn't really teach anything. Expects everyone to know everything beforehand.
george was a great teacher.. lots of homework on math xl but it helped with our tests
AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a great teacher. Very savy remarks but makes math easy to understand. I totally recomend him!
George is a very good teacher, take him if you really want to learn math.
He teaches the course in a way to make or break students. I threw up once after an exam because of how difficult it was. I stood up for a week straight just to get all that HW done; issues odd AND even problems. Gives Mathematica Projects for extra credit. I even fainted during the final exam because it was sooo hard.
where to start, he's absent a lot, his lectures are meaningless, I would always come home and youtube lessons, I paid online tutors for lessons--he's simply not good at teaching. The best lecture was when we had a sub, she was clear, quick and pleasant. He uses profanity in class, and his lectures are such a waste of time. never replies to emails.
He is the best
He's horrible! stay away
Hardest math class i ever took! Getting an A in the class is impossible, getting a B is highly unlikely and if you get a C you must be a genius. Unless you're a math major who really gets math stay away
he is a very good teach i passed his math 112 and math 113 class i cant even pass a math class i only passed when hes the teacher he is very good he is not so easy but he teaches you and makes you learn and he is really funny!
Has passion for math and has lots of pacience. Hilarious and very easy to talk to. DOes get into your brain. Amazing prof!!! Looking forward to more math with this guy. HE's THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!!!
I am not good at math, never have been and have always had difficulty understanding. He has a passion for teaching and is funny. He knows what he is doing and will help if you ask for it. Tests are hard but i understand the course more than I did when i started. Could have been easier if I took the class on a long semester but its going ok.
He doesn't really clarify what he wants on his tests. He expects you to know what he wants and hates when his students ask questions. His lectures aren't helpful but I had to do my own learning and my own pace because I couldn't keep up with him. He goes extremely fast
He is very helpful and cares about his students, he is also passionate about math. You can ask him questions during his office hours and he will take his time to show you how to do it until you get it. Don't judge him before hand give him a chance and you'll see how good of a person/teacher he is. :) :) :) :)
Prof. George was AMAZING! his teaching method makes me understand what i failed to understand in high school. math is a hard subject and we need effort to get good grades, professor George always explains in the best way possible!!! will be taking him again :)
He is seriously everything a teacher should be. His method is on point and easy to comprehend on all levels. He has a great sense of humor and keeps the class interested! He is a tough teacher but be reassured that if you pass his class with atleast a "B" you will do fine in the following math class. Two thumbs up for George!
George Dekermenjian is an awesome teacher, he is approachable and helpful and gives very clear study guides for the (many) tests. You will need to apply yourself, but if you do you will be successful and you'll find the course rewarding. The class is not easy, but who wants easy eh?
Mr. George is a great professor. I am not a fan of Math (calculators, HELLO!) but his class made it enjoyable. I actually understood everything and if I didn't he made sure I did. Take his class, you will not be sorry.
Totally reccomend him.
he is good but tough
He gives hw but you dont get any point or credit for it but if you do hw n sample test you will be fine. You need to study everyday at least 1hr and the whole day before the test if you want to pass it. It is statistics you need to study more than others math courses because each problems is different. George is the best math prof at LACC.
I am a math-hater, but this class puts its basis more on logical-thinking capacity. He makes the lecture fun and gladly replies to every single questions. He is pretty funny, and considerate, too. There were too many exams, about 6, which all affect your grade except for the lowest one. You need to become friendly with using excel. I got A intheend
great professor
he is such a goood teacher
Very good at what he does. Plus he's cute and hilarious so that never hurts. I just don't think I would take him again. Not very lenient on grading, even when averages are low. Tests are worth too much of your overall grade. Not everyone is a good test taker even if they know the material. Can come off slightly cold but other than that, very good.
By far one of the best math professors out there. he really cares about his class and will explain the material to you so you are able to grasp the concept
He explained more at the beginning of the semester, but as we were getting close to the end of semester, he missed about 3 classes, and many times he was not in a good mood to teach. from chapter 5 to the next chapters, he skipped word problems and some other parts, and finally he skipped chapter 10 completely.
Really good professor. Use his own notes, you don't need use the book. Ask all the questions, help to stunts, very open person. Recommend.
I don't like math, but he made it very straightforward, even the complicated stuff. Understands student's POV very well.
Explains everything so well. I loved the fact that he uses his own examples instead of going by the textbook. He helps his students by making sure you are doing the work correctly, he encourages for you to ask questions and explains concepts in different ways to fit what style suits you! By far the best MATH Professor at lacc. Made me like Math
Awesome professor. He really strives to make you think logically. His system for tackling word problems helped so much. Highly recommend. Inspired love for math.
In my opinion he's the best math professor on campus. He knows what he's doing, and is always prepared for the lecture. Hilarious guy, would definitely take him again. But if you take him, only study the challenge and problems plus sections of the book because that's what his tests are on.
Without a doubt the best professor I had in my entire life, but I failed his class. I did not do my homework on time, didn't study enough... He is incredibly handsome so I could not focus in class. He always caught me staring at him. #embarrassing He cares for his students and has a YouTube channel for math. I'll never forget him. :) Peace*
it all comes down to the way he explains, math is not my forte and i passed easily with a b. helpful, funny, clear, and doesn't waste time. Take advantage of asking for help with ease! all tests are made up of hw problems. Just great, if you fail this class you're not asking for help or lazy.
He's very intelligent but manages to explain everything very well. Very organized, tests are things given for hw and gone over in lectures. You do need to show up to class and do the work, but he is available in his office if you are struggling. To the high achievers, if you get an A or higher on every test, you can skip (yes skip) the final.
Worst teacher ever
If you study, you will pass. Office hours are always good. Don't ever ever ever skip class. Ever. And participate. A lot. Do your HW and take advantage of the question time and just be memorable. He's usually very helpful and funny. And he assures us of his intentions of helping us all pass. But his tests aren't easy.
Don't take him! He's horrible. His tests aren't about what he teaches. They're are out of this world. If you really want to learn math stay away from him. Take Hentschel. He's the best.
I've taken his Cal. I class during summer, and it was great. I wasn't just good enough to understand the material back then. If I had studied harder, then I might have got an A.
the worst professor i ever had, i love maths but this professor make math more harder. he will makes u to hate maths. "DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS"
Great Professor. Definitely knows what he is talking about
Great professor. His lectures seem to go by fast and he does explain everything really well. This class is tough though! If you miss one class you'll miss an entire chapter. Good luck!
Great Prof. He is very clear in the lectures and explains everything to the bone. Very great and I look forward to take him again. If you do the homework, worksheets, and study then you should be fine.
He's an awesome professor but his tests can be really hard. be ready to study if you want to take his class. He is really passionate about helping his students pass his class though. He gets angry if students dont ask questions and will put in his personal time to help his students.
Possibly my favorite math teacher of all time. Granted, most people who take his class and hear me say that think I'm insane. He's hilarious and you'll never fall asleep, but his tests will take up half your life if you plan on getting a B or higher.
He's an excellent professor, if not one of the best. Might be a little weird but that fine.
The class itself is very difficult, but he's really good at explaining it in the simplest way possible. Naturally, the tests are difficult but they're fair. He's also kind of a riot, I find myself laughing almost every lecture.
If you want to really learn math take him. His very good prof . He doesn't even need a textbook to teach math aha his awesome :)
I love math, specially geometry, but this teacher made me hate geometry. He is not helpful and he seems like having fun when students struggle, every time he has chance , he mentions that the next exam is gonna be harder and final will be impossible. no partly credit on tests. If you care about your GPA and wanna keep loving math then DONT TAKE HIM
Do not take him!!!!
HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH. His lectures are heavy and he tends to explain everything fast. It seems like he doesn't care about students. He doesn't offer extra credit. If you really want to learn and understand math then STAY AWAY FROM HIM.!
he is a great teacher who administers fairly hard tests. If u keep up w the work & go through all of the practice problems in the book, u should be able to pass this class. His tests incl. problems taken straight out of txtbk. He says the word "marinate" a lot. he is pretty funny & if u want the most out of this class, be sure to participate
He's a good guy he knows what he's talking about I understand geometry because reading the book and listening to the lecture's I recommend this professor and also his test are very easy just read the book its all in there
He was good professor. Tough but fair and great lectures. He really cares for students to know the material. Hard test, but he curves.
It was easy A. He clearly explains every detail and always answers homework questions before lecture. Reviews before tests and final. No extra credit thou. If you do your homework and wont miss lecture, easy pass :) I would definitely take him again.
If i could i would give him 10 stars. He is the best professor in my numerous years of education. He knows his stuff, he cares about his students that they understand the subject. Get ready to work, but it will be worth it!
Accidentally ended up taking him when my math professor cancelled on us the 1st day of class! So glad I stayed in the class. He is a great professor! As long as you study, show up to class, take good notes and participate you will be fine! Definitely not an easy A, but you will learn a lot! After all it is college! He is also really funny!
Do you wanna learn calculus? he is your guy. His lectures are priceless; he goes in depth of every subject and makes it much easier to understand. Just pay attention, take good notes and stop day dreaming. On the other hand, his tests are difficult and getting an A in his class is a real challenge. I didn't get an A but I learned a lot.
This guy doesn't give a care to his students. He shows up late almost everyday and at every test he isn't there. He is very bland and your grade is strictly based off tests only. I passed but I do not recommend him. This was my only non-A grade I received at LACC.
As a person that struggles with math I can say he explains very well and makes learning math fun. I would definitely recommend him. He based his tests on lectures so make sure you note everything, do the homework and you'll do well.
I highly recommend him for math majors. He puts a lot of theory on his exams. Study from the old exams on his website. In order to get an A in his class you must spend a lot of time studying. Don't take his class with a load of difficult courses.
As good as it can possibly get for a Math professor. Crystal clear lectures, appropriate humor breaks, very fair grader. However, exams are HARD. Tests are based on assigned HW, lecture, past tests. For an A do: assigned book hw, past exams(his website),lecture problems. If u dont mind the hard work, u will learn a lot! He's one of the best @LACC!
If you struggle with math do not take him. Most of your understanding will come from your own research. He will explain vaguely give you a short time to ask questions and will run through a chapter very quickly. He expects you to study chapters before hand and doesnt really encourage questions no patience during office hours. DONT TAKE, DOSNT CARE
He doesn't care about his students. He was always late and never available during office hours. Stay away from this instructor!!!!!!!!!!
Do not take him!!!!!
I am just wondering what he is trying to prove to his students? To prove that he is so smarter than his students or what? It is obvious he should know more than us!! I think his main focus is just how we are thinking of him, and he wants us to think that he is very smart by teaching so fast expecting us to understand the whole book just like him.
Excellent professor for Geometry.I had him for a winter semester, so it was definitely a lot of information in a short amount of time, but if you read the book before class you should be fine. Really funny dude, but shows up late 90% of the time. Explains things clearly, takes the time to answer people's questions properly. Made me love geometry.
The only thing that is bad is that he writes and talks fast but I think he is a good teacher
I always struggled in math. This professor is amazing! His exams were very difficult but, his way of teaching is amazing. If you are not good at math take him ! He will prepare you for the next math level. I took math 125 with with another professor I ended up getting an A in the class because I used his concepts and applied it.
Really good professor. He takes the time to make sure everyone understands everything that is being taught. He is very realistic. If there is something he feels is pointless or you won't need, he won't review it. Does his best to make sure everyone does as well as they can.
Hard class. Practice all the material over and over to really understand the lecture he goes really fast.
This professor is extremely unprofessional. Simply the material is unrelated to everything else he teaches in class to tests. Worst professor I ever had. Professionalism needs to be examined. Jokes and comments made are highly offensive.
