George is a great guy. So helpful and caring towards all of his students. Would definitely take any class he teaches again!
George is the best option for section in POLS101. He genuinely cares about each and every student he has, and he tries to make all the information he presents relevant to students. He is the best. Would definitely recommend George Fields to any student at UT to fulfill their Political Science requirement. Offers a lot of extra credit as well.
George is an amazing TA. He makes discussion so fun, and he is hilarious. I didn't think discussing Political Science would be something I would enjoy, but because of George I looked forward to coming to class every Friday. He is also very knowledgable of the subject so he really aids in your understanding of the topics discussed in lecture.
George was an amazing TA. He's SO funny and made discussion enjoyable. He genuinely cares that his students do well and made things easier to understand. I definitely recommend him!
George is such a real one. He is hilarious. He absolutely does not waste your time; he knows the material and delivers it in a timely manner. He is super helpful and nice with literally everything. 100% the best TA I've had at UT.
George is the bomb dot com.
George is a great dude. His Friday sessions are always really chill, and you don't really have to do too much work. He's pretty easy-going and loves to crack jokes throughout the class period. He also understands that most of you aren't here to become master politicians, you just want the gen ed credit, and he acts accordingly. He's pretty bomb
George is an amazing teacher and even better person. He takes the stress completely out of an already interesting class. I found myself looking forward to my discussion section on Fridays. He will make you laugh as well as really prepare you for all course exams and assignments. Highly recommend to any and all.
George was the best TA I've had at UT. He keeps the disscussions interesting with engaging activities. I would recommend taking his class, you will not be dissappointed.
George is great at simplifying topics that can be tougher to understand. He is very knowledgeable on what he is instructing. As long as you go to his class and participate you will do well. He is open to accomodating to individual schedules. If you have a conflict with a class, just approach him and he is very understanding.
George is the best TA to have for poly sci 101. He is great at explaining things gone over in class and makes class fun. Highly recommend- he is very chill.
George is a genuine, caring guy. He provides great lectures. Be sure to show up to weekly discussion meetings or your grade will be impacted.
Very helpful, inspired me to learn more, created a comfortable learning environment.
George was a great TA for poli sci 101. He was hilarious and helpful in all of the discussions. All you have to do is show up and participate (which isn't hard with him) and you'll do great. He was very helpful and communicated well too. If you are taking Political Science 101, try to get George, you won't regret it.
George is a really great instructor, he does everything he can to keep you engaged and make the information pertinent to you. He is also extremely good about getting back to your emails quickly, if you have a burning question he will do all he can to get back to you. You definitely need to take advantage of having him as an instructor if you can.
He was my discussion instructor for 101 and it was 1x a week. In short he is amazing. You are required to talk about one current news event during the semester for your participation grade. Attendance is taken every class. Class was short and concise. He uploaded all his PowerPoints to canvas. Very friendly and funny and always glad to help.
George is my favorite TA that I've had. I took POLS 101 for a gen ed requirement and was quite wary about the discussion class. I am on the quieter side and do not speak up if I do not have too. George is easy to approach if need be. He isn't a TA that calls on you to often unless its time to present your news article that is required.
George is a gem of a TA. He is always looking for ways to get his students extra credit and really goes the extra mile to help us out.
George is a real one. Seriously, he is one of the most genuine TA's and genuinely cared so much about the well being of the students in his section. 100% the best TA choice ever!
George is an amazing TA! He was very understanding when I had a death in the family and had to miss class. He made sure that I did not fall behind at all. He also provides a lot of extra credit opportunities and makes the lectures very easy to understand.
Best TA for pols 101. Had to find one current event to get participation points for class. Always posts slides on canvas. Show up to class because attendance counts towards your grade. Won't find someone better than him.
He is so funny and cares a lot about his students. He makes the class fun and relates the material to realworld/current examples!
Awesome Professor!! I love this class and Prof Fields! He is great and really cares for his students and is super laid back and fun!
Professor Fields was great for a 101 class. He's a really nice guy who genuinely wants his students to succeed. His lectures are interesting and easy to understand. There is weekly textbook reading, but they're usually pretty short and actually interesting as it's not a traditional textbook. Also all tests and quizzes have extra credit opportunity!
Having professor Fields was a treat, he cares about his students and that means a lot to everyone in his class. He makes the political topics interesting and his students actually wanna discuss the topics. Theres no topic too political for the class cause everyone respects everyone else. Would recommend taking!
Professor Fields was amazing. He made this Gen Ed incredibly simple, and his lectures were always engaging and easy to follow. I would 100% take his class again!
He is so funny and he care's so much about his students! I really looked forward to his class and his humor really made the material fun and interesting!
He is very invested in his students and makes the course a breeze as long as you apply minimal effort. There is a quiz every Friday over 1 chapter from the book roughly 10 pages of skimmed reading and the book is very inexpensive. Exams are very straight forward you will not be caught by surprise. Allows excused absences, would take him again 100%
Professor Fields is a great professor and truly loves what he teaches! He is very helpful with questions. The main grades in his class consist of the weekly chapter quizes and the 4 tests throughout the semester.
I would highly recommend taking any class with Professor Fields. He is a so helpful, nice, & resourceful. He makes it easy to get in touch with him and is very approachable. He makes it know that he wants you to succeed and he helps. He makes the guidelines and structure the class clear from the beginning. He also is easy to follow and funny.
I have no complaints about Prof. Fields. He is lenient and flexible. Works to make sure you know course material. Made a boring class actually kinda fun.
It is super easy!! just go to class for attendance and read your weekly chapters. the tests are really easy, mostly definitions if you just study that you will do great.
Created a friendly environment for learning given that it get political. This is the professor you want, gives straight forward material that's on tests and quizzes and it's not that hard.
Such an easy A and an interesting class. He understands that people are busy and tries to give the least amount of homework possible. There were weekly quizzes and four exams throughout the semester. Would highly recommend for a really easy class!
His classes are pretty easy. 19 out of 40 students made a 100% on the first test. He sometimes cancels class with very little notice. He's generally slow to upload grades, respond to emails, or upload video lectures/content. Small stuff like that can be pretty frustrating, but it's an easy A class
He is overall a good professor. He doesn't offer many grades, but the few ones he offers, he grades very easy. He knows people are busy, especially with COVID, and has tried to make this class accessible to those affected by COVID. Very approachable. Takes a bit to post things and follow up with emails, but this is COVID, so it's understandable.
George is a good professor and a good option for 240. His class is mostly lecture-based, which can sometimes be dry. However, he tries to end class early and keep things moving. He offered a lot of extra credit, but his exams were not hard at all. This is an intro class, so it is kinda boring, but a good class overall.
Fields is honestly great. He genuinely cares that his students are learning, but doesn't want you to feel stressed or bogged down by his course work. Take him!!
He is an amazing professor, not only does he give great help with tests, he also offers very helpful review sessions and is a great Professor. I would take any of the classes he offers, he's very lecture heavy, but posts all of his PowerPoints.
Professor Fields is a prime example of how a professor should approach classes. He is very realistic with his expectations and is genuinely one of the nicest professors I've had yet. If you're interested in Political Science, he will engage you in the material. If you're not, the class is still worth the credit hours. Impossible to fail.
If you get the opportunity, take professor Fields. He is a great professor, super down to earth, and is always there when you need help. He values his students and it really shows. This class is lecture heavy, but all powerpoints are posted. He holds many review sessions to accommodate each student's schedule, & wants u to grasp the material.
George is an amazing professor. The class is mostly lectures with a fun three day project near the end. There was 2 major exams, two papers, and the project. Attendance is required but he is lenient if you're honest with him. He is a very good teacher, thorough, and intelligent. This class is very easy but you will see learn a lot.
George is very knowledgeable! His lectures are nice, and very informative. He is easy to reach, and is also very flexible with attendance. One of the best parts of the course is the Congressional Hearing! Gives an interesting insight to how policy is crafted and the innerworkings of Congress! Take this class if you're a political science major! :)
Fields is great and very knowledge. The material isnt all that exciting though. No hw, 2 easily graded papers and the exams are not hard either. Was never stressed about this class.
I would recommend this professor to anyone. Very approachable and understanding. He is very knowledgable about what he is teaching and he doesn't make things harder than they have to be.
Great teacher and very knowledgeable. Easy A if you come to class. Overall minimal work and fun/interesting Congressional hearing simulation.
One of my favorite professors. The course is 2 papers and 2 exams with plenty of extra credit opportunities. Lecture heavy, but he has to cover a lot of material for department standards. I will be taking his 300+ courses. Very smart and informed, yet he is extremely approachable.
I love George, I have taken two classes with him so far, and I am signed up for a third next semester. Literally there is nothing bad to say about George.
Professor Fields is awesome. His lectures are informative and he does his best to make the material interesting. In his 240 class, we had 2 papers and 2 essays. As long as you attend class and pay attention, none of them should be that difficult to do well on. His 240 class also includes a mock Congressional hearing that was fun. Take his class!
He has a clear grading criteria and everything is from his lectures on exams. He is also very caring with students and understands if things comes up.
He's an incredibly easy but effective professor. His lectures are interesting and concise, and he is super easy to reach outside of class. He's one of the best professors I've had as he tries to keep the class fun but informative. The one downside is that there's very few assignments, but he makes up for it by helping you in any way you need.
Professor Fields is a great teacher. Public policy is not the most fun thing to learn about as it is aggravating and does not make sense that it is done the way it is much of the time. He takes the time to talk about it and a person feels like they can give their real opinion about policy without jeopardizing their success in the class.
Overall, Prof. Fields is a solid instructor. His teaching style is rather straightforward. So long as you show up and pay attention, you should do well in his POLS240 class
Professor Fields was great! The course content was taught very straightforward and George made sure students knew what content would be covered on the exams. He is very accessible outside of class and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He is willing to go the extra mile. Take him if you have the chance!!
Professor Fields is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is super accessible outside of class and truly cares about your mental, physical, and emotional well being. He wants to see you succeed in not only his class but life. He gives numerous opportunities for extra credit and as long as you pay attention in class you should be fine!
Professor Fields is one of the best political science teachers in the UT Polysci department. He's super easy to talk to, and his class isn't that difficult. The classes are primarily lectures, so as long as you pay attention you'll be fine. It's really easy to tell that he wants his students to succeed, even if you aren't a polysci major. Take him.
Professor Fields is a great teacher and I don't know anyone that would say differently. This is a very easy course, but he works really hard to make it interesting for everyone. He is very respectful of our time, and even let us leave 15 minutes early for the first couple of weeks of the semester (we're only a 50 minute course). Highly recommend!
Professor Fields is awesome! He is helpful and is realistic when it comes to lecturing! He uses real examples and relates them well to course content. The thing I appreciate the most is he is very upfront about due dates and assignments, he will never blindside you & is super understanding about any complications!!
Professor Fields was honestly so great. I really enjoyed 240 with him. If you don't pay attention or come to class you probably will really struggle but as long as you make an effort you'll do well and get a good grade. Would definitely take another class with him if given the chance.
George is a phenomenal teacher. He cares more about his student's success more than any other professor I've had. There's a reason his classes fill up fast every single semester.
This is the second class I've taken with George, and he did not disappoint. Interesting content, combined with interesting supplementary material and discussions. Your grade comes from a mini exam, small writing assignments, participation, and a simulation activity. Basically, if you show up and contribute you will pass. Take him if you can!!
Great course, really tries to make content relevant to what is happening. Flexible, easy grader, cares more about your learning than how much work you can turn in. Great personality, engaging and understanding. 3 excused absences, 1-2 assignments per week, fun simulation at the end of the semester. Only 2 tests, one is entirely multiple choice.
George is a great guy and a great professor. His class is super easy and fun. He has a really easy to understand class layout and is super accessible and easy to talk to. He's an easy grader and wants all of his students to succeed.
Mr. Fields is a great professor. He is so understanding and willing to work with you when things come up outside of class. The class is very straight-forward and the topics are very interesting and relevant. Go to class, participate in the discussions, turn in your assignments, and you will have a good grade.
Overall, George is a great professor. He is willing to work with you and honestly so long as you put in the necessary work, you will do just fine in this course.
One of the nicest instructors I have come across at Tennessee. While you see low ratings for difficulty, this class was really cool because I still felt like I learned so much without pulling my hair out from stress like every other class. If he can tell you care, he will work with you. A really cool person. 1000/10 recommend.
Literally best Professor Ive ever had. The class was so interesting and since hes such a lenient grader I got to focus on actually enjoying the material rather than stressing over trying to get a good grade. He is so willing to help his students and also is just a fun and enjoyable person to be around, definitely taking another one of his classes
I highly recommend him! All of the assignments were very easy and informing. The congressional simulation has to be my favorite part of the semester by far! He lets you split up the word count needed for the semester in 5 500 word reflection papers in whatever format you please. Take him if you can!
Mr. Fields is one of the best instructors I have had at this school. He is very understanding in that if you have to miss, you just have to let him know and you will be okay. I had to miss a lot of days this semester due to mental and emotional issues and he still treats me with the same respect that he does with someone who attended every class.
Professor Fields is the BEST!! Don't hesitate to take him. He is very kind and clearly cares about what he is teaching. He is beyond understanding and honestly just gets it. No stress, easy workload, and just a positive environment.
George is an excellent graduate instructor and one of the best in the Poli Sci department. I have really enjoyed this class and the fact the it was relevant to current issues. It really broadened my understanding of today's issues in public policy, and the public policy process. He is an excellent instructor, and I highly recommend his classes!
Professor Fields is a very nice man. I was going through something throughout the semester, and Professor Fields was very understanding and helped me to succeed throughout the course. His lectures are very interesting and his personality is very fun.
Prof. Fields is a great individual and instructor. He has a great sense of humor which breaks up the lectures. Provides his cell and email for easy access outside of class. He even helped me with outside matters related to grad school. I would 100% recommend Prof. Fields. He is a great resource and a professor who I will keep contact info for.
There is a reason George has 5/5 stars based on 70+ reviews. He is extremely passionate and accessible, and makes everything clear and concise. Take him.
Professor Fields is great. He 100% ensures you have everything you need to succeed in his class. He also cares about students. His 341 class was great; there was one case brief due a week, but it was nothing absurd. You can get away without reading the book, but it contains some interesting information. This class has three exams.
George is caring, not afraid to make a fool of himself to make you comfortable, and runs a good class. Class is mostly lecture, along with one weekly assignment that shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to do. The exams are pretty simple and he goes over everything in the slides, plus he offers review sessions before the exam for any questions.
Professor Fields is one of my all-time favorite professors at UT. His classes are always well organized, and he does really take the time to get to know his students. I think that he is one of the best in the political science department. Like other comments have said about him, he is not afraid to have fun with the class and be involved.
I would highly recommend taking Prof Fields. His lectures are interesting, and he post slides before class. He gives you 3 unexcused absences. If you surpass that, send him an email explaining why and it won't count it against you. There is one case brief due each Sunday and lowest two are dropped. Nice guy and an overall excellent teacher.
If you have a chance to take a class with Professor Fields, DO IT! Attendance is counted, however if you just let him know that something is going on he will work with you. As long as you go to class and pay attention, you'll be fine on the exams! He also hold Zoom study sessions before every exam.
He is good at not making learning so serious like many professors. Case briefs every week but simple. Tests are very doable if you study. He also doesn't waste your time by keeping you in class for the full time if he finishes the lecture for the day which I appreciate. It can be difficult to get him to respond to your emails, though.
I cannot recommend Professor Fields enough. He sets you up for success, with very organized classes, and genuinely cares about all his students. The classes are lecture based with one weekly case brief. Exams are simple and based off of the slides discussed in class. If you have the chance, take Professor Fields for pols 341!
Professor Fields is a good teacher that cares about his students and is always willing to help. He does have very short lectures and sometimes reads from the slides, but I have enjoyed the class.
Professor Fields aka George is a great professor. I took his 341 class in the last semester of my senior year and wish that I had taken more of his classes. The workload isn't that bad at all. Just go to the lectures and take good notes you'll be fine.
He is easily one of my favorite professors I have ever had. Super cool guy that understands that people have other things going on besides school. Lectures are helpful and sometimes he cancels class last minute but Im not mad about it. Super helpful and wants you to get an A. This guy is awesome.
Professor Fields is awesome! He wants you to learn and succeed. The workload was very manageable, and the tests are easy if you pay attention in class. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes.
Professor Fields is awesome! He wants to help you learn and succeed in his course. The workload was very manageable, and the tests are easy if you pay attention in class. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes.
I loved this class. If you are an experience-based learner, Professor Fields is the perfect professor for you. He does mock court experiences that are really fun, but they also helped me to grasp some of the denser concepts in the class. He is also just funny, and you can tell that he really cares about his students' success.
I really enjoyed Professor Fields' class. The Mock Supreme Court Experience was probably the most fun project I have done in college. I also loved how he made everyone feel very comfortable in class and had a good sense of humor. I highly recommend taking any class taught by him.
This class was fun to take! Professor Fields really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. Interesting classes and lectures too.
Professor Fields was awesome, attendance is mandatory but often class would end early. He was understanding when needed to be excused from class and all his lecture slides were online. He was funny in class and wanted us all to do well, hoping to find another class to take that he teaches in the future!
Take Professor Fields if you can. Super caring Professor and is willing to work with students.
He's an amazing professor and truly wants to see everyone make an A. His exams are not hard, right from the lecture slides and all of the other grades are easy 100s. Super light-hearted and tries to make lectures less boring by adding in jokes and is always available to help!
The MSCE was really interesting and fun to do. Exams are very simple and straightforward just go to class it's fun but he cancels class often. Very hard to fail this class. Would definitely take him again!
If I could take this class a million times I would. If you need to miss class he is more than understanding, but I enjoyed attending this class regularly. His class is very interesting, and he wants you to succeed and enjoy what he is teaching. Take this class!
Highly enjoyed taking Field's class. His Supreme Court Mock experience assignment made the class very interesting, and he has a good sense of humor so his lectures aren't boring. Graded on a few things, but the bulk of it is from the mock experience which is very easy to get an A on.
George is a really fun professor that makes learning about Judicial Process enjoyable. He is lenient with absences as long as you send him an email. Tests are relatively easy and he includes extra credit sections on the exam.
He is super understanding and his assessments are very clear and he is willing to help if help is needed
Professor Fields is great. He makes his class interesting and is very understanding both with assignments, attendance, grades, etc. He's super accessible outside of class and cares about his students quite a bit. If you have a chance to take his class, do it. You won't regret it.
I loved taking this course! George was incredibly understanding and lenient on deadlines if you had any circumstances you could always reach out to him. The course had 2 exams that were multiple choice with a fair amount of bonus questions. The final exam was 2, 1000 word essay questions but you need no outside sources. The group project was great!
best professor possible!
best professor! so kind and caring, and 100% lenient with deadlines and such - you just have to ask. i would definitely take one of his classes again.
Fields is a great professor, he made the material very interesting and understandable. He is super reasonable with attendance and grading, and genuinely wants his students to succeed.
Amazing professor! He does his best to help all his students to ensure that everyone does well in the class.
One of the best classes I've taken! Highly recommend!
Literally so nice and helpful. I took this just to fill an elective and it was so easy. He's great and he has a great personality.
Best POLS teacher I have had. Did a mock supreme court trial and I learned so much out of it. He is very lenient on attendance and test make ups. My class started at 9:45 but if you emailed him by 10 he would excuse your absence. Great professor would definitely take again if he taught any other class.
love prof fields! he is one of the best professors in the poli sci dept here. 341 is super easy if you pay attention in class and submit all of your work. He is a very understanding professor and makes complex things easy to digest. I 100% recommend taking him for any class he offers. He does a mock Supreme Court trial that makes class super fun.
Prof Fields is honestly a great teacher. He cares about his students' wellbeing in and out of the classroom. His class is easy and is lecture based. His mock Supreme Court activity engages you with the decision making process of the court. He understands life is busy for students and is adaptable and flexible to ensure his class isn't stressful.
Mr. Fields made the class entertaining and made me want to attend class! His attendance policy is not bad as long as you email him before class starts otherwise you have two absences. Tests are in person and he has review sessions before which most of it is from slides but he there is any questions we had. I would totally recommend taking him.
Prof. Fields was my favorite professor that I have taken at UT so far. He is incredibly reasonable with his coursework and policies. His lectures were funny and engaging. This was my easiest class this semester, yet the class where I learned the most.
Professor Fields is AWESOME; I seriously recommend his class to anyone. He made me want to go to a morning class because his lectures are so entertaining. He lectures from slides that he posts to Canvas and makes purchasing the textbook optional. Exams aren't weighed that much and he provides review sessions and study guides before them.
Very passionate about the material but not snobby about it. Very approachable and happy to answer questions.
I have enjoyed Mr. Fields class so far this semester (Spring 2024). His lectures were very interesting and he made sure to emphasize the points that would be on the exam. It is pretty hard not to get an A in his class. If you have questions he is very approachable and easy to talk with! I would def recommend taking this class!
Fields is awesome so take him if you can! He is very funny and tries to engage the class as much as he can. He is pretty lecture heavy and there aren't many grades, but he gives good feedback and is a pretty generous grader.
Professor Fields is one of the best professors I've had a UT. He is a wonderful person. He makes class fun and interesting and really makes an effort to connect with this students. The main premise of 341 was a "mock supreme court" experience that was so fun/interesting. Exams are in-person but extremely easy if you study. 1000% Take this class!!!!
I took George Fields for POLS341. If you need this credit for your Polisci major, TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM! His tests are straight forward and there aren't any surprises. Pay attention to the PowerPoints he goes through in class, as that is exactly what is on the exam. Definitely one of the best professors at UT! Classes were fun!
This class was fun to take! Fields really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Gives interesting classes and lectures too.
Dr. Fields was an amazing professor! His lectures were engaging while also being informative. He allowed you to miss class as long as you emailed him before the class period started with no questions asked. He also held review sessions before the exams we had which prepared us all very well. I enjoyed his class and I would recommend him highly!
Professor Fields is awesome. While lectures mainly consist of going through slides, he is interesting and keeps students engaged. He is super personable, accessible, and willing to help if you need it. Make sure you study for exams. They are the only difficult part of this course, but with some studying, you will perform well. I recommend!
There was a mock trial experience with this class and it was super helpful and so much fun. This professor is exactly what you want a professor to be for your college experience. Overall 10/10!
Mr. Fields was such a caring and engaging professor! He was highly knowledgeable and translated his knowledge to hold a mock trial hearing in class. We got to see the behind-the-scenes of the SCOTUS which in turn is applicable to future careers. He is understanding with attendance and grading. Super funny and a great professor!!
There was a mock trial experience with this class and it was super helpful and fun! 10/10 would recommend!!
Professor Fields is an AMAZING Professor. He cares about the success of each student and is passionate about the content covered in his class. Classes are mainly lecture based, but very engaging. Class consists of a few assignments pertaining to the Mock Supreme Court Experience and two exams that aren't weighted much. I can't recommend him enough!
Professor Fields is awesome. His lectures are always entertaining and informational. He is chill on attendance. He has helpful lecture slides to help you know exactly what's important. He creates an environment where students want to participate. There's practically no homework, and you get to learn about the structure of the Judicial system.
Professor Fields is literally such an amazing professor. He is hilarious and his lectures are super easy to understand. The attendance policy is relaxed but I would show up for class and reviews because his lectures are fun and he makes sure you understand what you need to know for exams. Overall, great class!!!!
One of my favorite political scientist professors so far. Very organized, all lectures were given with a corresponding slideshow which were published. He is very funny, and gives great advice and support to his students. I enjoyed going to this class and would highly recommend anyone who has to take this class to take it with this professor.
George is an awesome professor. He cares very much that you understand the course content and are able to succeed. He has correlating slides to each lecture, all of which are posted. There are three exams, two in class and one take home. He also offers extra credit.
Dr. Fields is a very caring and knowledgeable professor. He is energetic and passionate about the material which motivates students to come and participate in class. The Mock Supreme Court Experience is very fun and engaging, allowing you to learn political science in an unorthodox way. I would highly recommend Dr. Fields as he cares about you.
Professor Fields is great, his lectures are easy to understand and he is engaging throughout! Attendance is mandatory but he understands we're people too but class is worth going to. Definitely the best poli sci professor I've had so far!
He is a very caring professor that makes sure you learn the material in the class.
In depth PowerPoints with a book as well. Always accessible outside of class. Helps you understand the reasons for the class
Professor Fields' POLS341 class is great - his engaging lectures and straightforward exams make it an easy A. unstuck AI was super helpful for quick study prep too.
Totally awesome teacher, super easy and his mock Supreme Court is so much fun.
Professor Fields is hands down my favorite professor on campus. His lectures are super easy to understand and usually pretty engaging/funny. Most of the course is built around the Mock Supreme Court Experience, which is really fun and easy. You have to put zero effort into the class in order to not get an A. He is veryyyyy lax on attendance.
Easiest and favorite class, the only teacher whose class I didn't have to pregame to show up too
Professor Fields was the best professor I've had at Tennessee. Would highly recommend
10/10 recommend. Lectures are actually interesting and the exams are not hard at all. He is super funny and overall a caring professor who wants you to do good in his class.
Easily one of my favorite professors that I have had at UT. Class goes by fast because lectures are not boring at all. Very funny and makes class enjoyable to go to.
This professor does a good job of making the class interesting and engaging. The Supreme Court Experience is very fun, where you get to act as a justice, interest group, or attorney. The grading scale is clear, and overall class is not hard at all and very manageable. Fields is very accessible and is there if you have any questions.
Prof. Fields is what a teacher should be. This class was easy because he made learning easy, but you still have to participate and be present. The Supreme Court simulation was helpful to understand how courts make decisions. He used Slack for communication which usually means a very quick response. Two exams and an essay final. Take his class!
george is my goat
Professor Fields is one of the best professors I've had at UT. He's incredibly organized, making class smooth and low-stress. His clear, engaging, and often fun teaching style brings complex topics like judicial review to life. He uses real examples and current events to make material relatable and clearly cares about student understanding.
Dr. Fields rocks. He is endlessly funny, laid back, and considerate towards his students. He prioritizes his class taking something away from the course above being a harsh/strict grader. The mock supreme court experience is so enjoyable and you learn a lot about how attorneys and the courts operate.
Professor Fields is definitely one of the best professors I have had at this university. He is funny and there is never a dull moment in class. The Mock Supreme Court Experience was very fun and informative. Not only do you really learn about the courts, but you get to participate as a Judge, Attorney, etc. Take this class, you will not regret it!
This class was very interesting and enjoyable! The workload was manageable and never stressful. You have nothing to worry about as long as you pay attention during the lectures and submit all the assignments.
Professor Fields was amazing. You don't need to buy the book if you don't want and everything you need to know is covered in class. Attendance is required but he will excuse anything ahead of time. He is engaging in his lectures and knows how to keep the classroom alive. One of my favorite teachers I've had here.
Professor Fields made this class very enjoyable! He always came to class with a great attitude that made for a positive environment. He teaches through lectures that are detailed and give you all the information you need for exams. My favorite part of this class was the Mock Supreme Court Experience where you get to role play as the Supreme Court!
George is an amazing professor and passionate about what he teaches. He seeks to teach in a manner that is enjoyable for students to learn, and I would 100% take him again if I could. If you have the chance to have him as a professor take advantage of it!
He is constantly communicating to the class and is very flexible and understanding. He clearly knows the material well and enjoys what he is doing, I looked forward to going to his class and never worried once about my grade. As long as you do your work and put in genuine effort you will get an A.
Great Professor! Cares for the class and your wellbeing, has a great mock trial experience that'll be a big portion of your grade! Highly highly recommend!
Without a doubt one of the best professors I have ever had. He has a fantastic personality and makes classes far more fun than the subject matter should allow them to be. Attendance is extremely lenient, and it's easy to get an A as long as you put in minimal effort. Cannot recommend more.
Communicates great with students. Fun design to the course. Very understandable and lenient.
He is an excellent teacher who truly cares about his students' success. He's very understanding of those who struggle with tests and provides plenty of opportunities to do well. Despite not being a strong test taker, I'm still able to maintain an A in his class.
*Note: Professor Fields is at Clemson now! And also I'm actually taking him for Public Policy POSC 4210* George Fields has definitely been my favorite professor this year, and I'm super glad I decided to take his course. I really appreciate that I know what is expected of me in this class, and that he doesn't overcomplicate the material.
Don't use AI, he's younger and super funny just pay attention to lectures and tests shouldn't be hard. Big group project but it's split into little grades so it's fine.
He now works at Clemson University. He is a very caring teacher. Mock Policy Hearing which is majority of your grade. He is very lenient and wants you to do good on it as long as you participate you will do fine. 1 midterm and final. I am not a good test taker but his test were not challenging as long as you go to class.
I am taking two classes with Professor Fields at Clemson University: Public Policy (POSC 4210) and US Congress (POSC 4030). He is incredibly knowledgeable and readily available for any help you may need. You have a midterm and final with assignments in between. I extremely suggest you take his courses!
Dr. Fields is the GOAT. He is now at Clemson University. He is super entertaining and a really good teacher.
Dr. Fields is a great professor at Clemson university. Explains all concepts making them easy to understand and doesn't just read straight off a PowerPoint. Assignments are straight forward and don't take too much time to complete. Lectures can be entertaining and aren't boring.
Dr. Fields is literally awesome, the reviews don't lie. He is so understanding, and laid back. Attendance isn't mandatory but his class is so fun that I want to go. During lecture he genuinely wants you to understand the content. His tests are easy, for POSC 4210 we took a mid term and a final along with a class simulation. So much extra credit
