Great teacher! Makes the dry subject of Accounting very interesting, since he always tells jokes or personal life stories.
He's funny patient and lovable. His tests are not difficult and sometimes he gave extension for assignment dateline. He's very flexible! =P love george!
George is a really nice & helpful prof! His tests arent hard. Uses pp slides for his lecture and textbook for exercises. He's a funny and engaging prof! Take his class you wont regret it!
George is great!! d best teacher ive had in accounting!! wil go dat extra mile 4u to understand. &wil get u well ready 4d exams! he loves all of his students &truly wants evry1 to succeed! i lukd 4ward 2evrythng to be learnd in class! i wish he'd teach more courses though.. highly recomnded! i love george!! made me love accounting too! =)
Excellent instructor. Clearly enjoys teaching. Very articulate. Extremely helful. Wants his students to succeed. Would definitely take another course with him again.
George is the best instructor i've ever had. He is interesting and easygoing. well prepare you for the term tests. very helpful!! Love you Geroge!!
George is great. Helpful, funny, cares for the students. Explains concepts well.George is great
George is very nice and good prof. He always can understand u and he is flexible in assignment. He is funny in some way (my frd thinks he is super humorous) and his quizs r easy. His explanation is not bad and he will prepare u for exams. Good marker, too. Take him!
This guy is halrious as well a very good teacher, prob my fav. but halirous he'll actully dance in class
da best teacher ever! "Accounting is fun"
Amazing prof. Has so much extensive experience within accounting and finance that he will tell you what you need to know and what you don't need to know. The structure of the course is very quick. You have to keep on top of things or you'll fall off. George however, does an admirable job in maintaining the equilibrium beteween speed and teaching.
his quizzes are pretty easy and his class lectures are easy to follow,BUT HE DOES NOT PREPARE YOU FOR THE FINAL!!!!!!...(could prepare ppl better for the final)the final is impossible and will bring down your GPA!!!!You will probably do well up until the final..because the material in everything else is relevant to what he teaches.BUT NOT THE FINAL
George is great teacher ever!!! he is very helpful, always on his phone and e-mail. he is glad to help u if u don't understand smth. go to his review sessions, midterm was almost the same. he is honestly nice, funny, and jokes a lot!!! LOVE HIM:)
ATTENTION:FINAL EXAM WAS RUTHLESS & BRUTAL,& when ppl addressed it he was UNSYMPATHETIC.,all i gotta say is.so bloody decieving..he seems nice, seems friends,SEEMS HELPFUL,but when u ask him a question he looks at u as if u jus asked him for his hand in marriage,he indirectly makes u feel so dumb 2 the point where you dont want to ask him anything
all of you in ACCT 1110 saying the final is brutal need to learn to pay attention and study, I took 1235 and ended up with an A- AND I didn't even study more than 2 days before the final. george prepares you well, provides many opportunities for practice. don't blame teacher for your lazyness ;)
I'm glad he knows he doesn't add value, because he doesn't. Spending 20 minutes for the class to do a question then another 10 to take it up? I can do that at home...the only funny thing about this guy is that he knows that and still wonders why people don't come to his class.
My advice: GO TO EVERY SINGLE CLASS! Class structure is he goes over a few power point slides & then makes you do a small problem from the book, after he continues with a few more slides and repeats. This guy really knows his stuff, & he gives very helpful tips. Always there to help u. Quizzes were simple but exams were above average in difficulty.
Funny guy - quick to respond to emails and very patient with phone calls. Hard course but he warns you right away that it will be hard. Don't miss any classes or homework assignments!
he doesn`t know the the material and give you the hard quiz for only 25 minites. He is trying to be helpful, but he will try to lower your grade for exams. Not a good teacher.
This course is easy to do well and easy to fail. Each chapter builds on the previous one so if you fall behind you'll never understand the later chapters and you're screwed for the rest of the semester. Prof knows the material, he is very helpful and throws easy marks everywhere to help you. Takes your best 3 out of 4 quizzes. Go to all classes
George is always there to help when you need it. The format and breakdown of the class was great!, would take him again :)
He's very helpful but the exams are pretty challenging. M/C is worth 2 marks each. Computations are okay if you do you all your HW. he usually includes 1 or 2 questions from the HW on the exams. Do all your HW and study the MAL HW's
The best instructor I ever had.Extrmely helpful , he explains eveything until you get it.The course is hard but he will do whatever it takes to help you learn .ASK HIM QUESTIONS- he will answer them and explain them until you got it.George takes the time to bring your morale up , adjust your studying techniques and set you for success.Do my acclab
George was an interesting professor. I had a very tough time in ACCT 2410, but since I only took it the one time with the one instructor, it's hard to judge whether my struggles were due to George or the subject matter. Very helpful when asked questions. Tends to ramble (a lot) during lectures. Clearly enjoys teaching.
Tough class, but he is very willing to help if you need it. Class average on everything was around 60% so be prepared
The course was hard but George legitimately cares about his students and wants them to do well. He's prompt when it comes to responding to emails and calls. Do the homework, it's free marks. His mid-terms are literally his quizzes plus a few more questions and some questions are copied word for word from the end of chapter questions.
The worst experience ever at Douglas College. He is sick.
George is easy to reach when you need help. You can call him or e-mail him and get a response the same day. I found him to be a difficult teacher though. Midterm, final exam and two group assignments will make up the most of your grade. Some homework and quizzes here and there. Also has a strange sense of humor.
All I can say is, "Study daily." This guy is tough and he even wrote his own text book. "try to get quiz from previous semesters." Make sure you attend at least 2 classes before the test to get the idea~ Best wishes!
Good instructor. There are no surprises on the exam so long as you do homework questions and practice textbook questions in the broad areas George specifies. He answers questions to the fullest. George is awesome. TAKE HIM! The only downside to George are his projects with inconvenient due dates (they should be due earlier in my opinion).
Recommend this instructor. Like said before, there aren't insane surprises in his exams. Pre-read if you want to get the most out of his lectures. The projects are kind of ridiculous though - they're important to do but the due dates, like the post before me said, should be due earlier. Still a great instructor - answers questions all the time.
He is a great instructor and above all he is a very nice person. He explains the course material and questions very clearly. I wish there were no project at all (specially other team members giving grades for it)& less mark for the hard multiple choice exam questions. I wish there were only 10% of mark for multiple choice and no project.
Great instructor - answers emails ASAP, gives advice on how to prepare for his exams, and doesn't surprise you. I did fairly well even though I didn't preread like he advised. In all honesty, if you're a decent student, the only chapter you have to cry about is the income tax section. Mother of god, I wish I preread that chapter.
If you want to do well in the course, he give you all the support you need. He is a very good instructor. He is well organized, good listener, down to earth and honest. He is very helpful and cares about students. You have to pre read before going to the class in order to succeed.
He is a smart guy no doubt about that but he lacks in teaching ability. Maybe he tough it for too long or he think we should understand all the accounting language he is used to? This is the hardest course I have taken so far here at the college and I think he enjoys that. Yes he will help if you ask, but makes you feel stupid so I don't ask.
Anyone who's giving George poor feedback likely either didn't attend classes or hates cheesy humor. George has been, hands down, my favorite prof at Douglas. He knows what he's talking about, and he's passionate about teaching. He actually cares about his students and not only wants them to succeed, but actually UNDERSTAND! Two thumbs up!
He is a funny guy (or he tries to be funny, some may find him weird). His grading system is pretty clear, so you basically know how to earn marks. Lots of online assignments and quizzes (thru myaccountinglab). Tougher than other accounting instructors I had (I got A to A+ in my other accounting classes, I only got B for him)
Had him for other classes, and he is consistently good throughout all of them. Responds to emails and questions in a timely manner and is willing to help you understand things you are having difficulty with. Advanced Financial's really hard without pre-reading, so do that, or his lectures will be useless for you. Would take him again.
He's a good Professor. He explains concepts well if you've already read the chapter you can understand him. Everything is great about him except his marking on the midterm and finals. It's usually out of the percentage assigned to the exam. 35 marks if 35%. It's extremely hard to get marks and if you lose 5 marks you can go down from 100 to 85.
Great Instructor,
Tough marker
The main difference between good instructor and bad instructor is, a good instructor finds the best way to help student UNDERSTAND the concept and ENCOURAGE student to PRACTICE. George Fisher is, by far, one of the best at this job. I was lucky I was one of his students before he retires. Thanks again George.
I found going to lectures entirely useless. You HAVE to pre-read and carefully study the textbook (he hasn't taught intro in 7 years and it shows) or you will fail. He's knowledgeable, however his way of teaching is very hard to follow. 2 midterms @25% each and a final @35%, homework weekly @15%. He's a good guy, but this class is designed to fail.
He's a pretty nice guy, but he isn't a good teacher. His background is finance and he hasn't taught accounting in a while. You have to work hard or you won't pass. Would avoid 12/10.
DO NOT take this instructor for non-accounting programs. If you are passionate about accounting, this is the instructor for you. If not, then this instructor will not stop emphasizing his career milestones. Extremely difficult exams. Every mark is worth 1% of your final grade. Any small error in a question results in 0 for that question. Good luck.
George is fantastic. He has high standards but is fair. Put in the work and he'll help you until you understand the material. Textbook is well written and he gives you everything you need to be successful in his class. He told us exactly what would be on the exams. If you fail it's because you put in no effort to study.
Discouraging to introductory accounting students. Encourages you to ask questions, but condescending with answers (office hours and lecture). Marking is very black and white. No half marks. Perfection, or 0. You will need to pre-read and memorize formats for statements and entries. He tells you EXACTLY what is on exams and drops hints in class!
All what i can say he is a tough marker, and as a lecturer like any other professors you have to teach yourself. if your taking accounting means dealing with numbers and in balance sheet or any any transaction if you put 1 instead of 2 the results will be wrong so he GIVES YOU zero. Be careful of this guy never take a course with him
George is a fantastic teacher, he knows his subject inside and out. Read the material, do the work, ask questions when you don't understand and you'll do fine. He is very clear about what will be on the exams and gives you everything to be successful. Textbook is very well written and useful.
Fantastic instructor, Plenty of time for you if you ask questions.
No tricks on the exams which are very similar to homework.
Will always answer questions wen asked
Never posted a review before but this professor is so degrading and so rude, I have no clue where he got any positive reviews from. He will yell at you after his midterm even though both sections failed, he will blame it on the students. Like hello Mr. Fisher if both of your class averages were 50 then that is not on the student. THAT IS ON YOU!
Tells you exactly what is going to be on the exam and exam questions are the same as homework and in class questions
no surprises on exams
Know's his stuff and provides good examples
Tells you exactly what will be on the exam
Beware of his class as he was really unhelpful and lowers grade without any marks on correct sections unless giving him his tabulated answer which is not the most practical testing method for Accounting.
Clear lectures Exam based on lectures and homework. Tells you what will be on exam
Knows his stuff. Wants you to succeed.
provides detailed list of what's on the exam
Exams are tough
Awesome!
tough marker but fair lets you know what he wants before the exam
Funny wantz you to succeed no surprizes on exams
tuff but fair nose his stuff
can allways reach to axe questions
good prof
knows his stuff
telz you xactly whars on exam
just some words of advice don't listen to the positive reviews this is how i got stuck. this guy needs to stop writing his own reviews
have to work
This is the worst prof ever, avoid him at all costs! His attitude towards his students is horrible. He does not care for his students success and is absolutley useless when it comes to questions and help . He blames everything on Kin and does not take any accountability of his failure. Needs to be reexamined before given the oppurtinity to teach!
Went Off-topic many times in class
We are studying in a Canadian Accounting classroom and at times he starts going on a rant about US politics and looks agitated in front of students at times while lecturing his class.
Not very helpful.
hard marker
marks hard
accessible 24/7
exams right outa lexure
funny guy
fair but tough grader
lots of time for you if you ask
Ok guy
nose his stuff
no surpizes on exams
tests what he talsk about in class
He knows his stuff and has had a great career. No doubt about that but he is not good at teaching. He speaks very slow and takes every opportunity to go off-topic to talk about random stuff. ACCT 3410 is a tough course and he intentionally makes it more difficult than it needs to be. Only take his course if you do not have a heavy course load.
He does not set students up for success. Does not really teach properly. Theres always going to be a story about his life and how smart he is every single class. Expects you to know everything. Just dont take him if you want to learn. But I f youre still going to, good luck.
I got a B+ in his class. Intermediate accounting is a hard class in general no surprises there. I got a decent grade because his exam questions matches with how I study: Step by Step process. When I study, I write down why this step happens etc. and added "What if" journal entries. The exam q's are from his practice questions. Do what I did.
Prof. Fisher makes accounting easier, inspires you to be an accountant. Since it's online, he was fair w/grades(bonus marks given); he helped most of us get into the next level. Also, we have free access to etext/MyLab he co-authored. The assign./HW(17%) were easy, but quizzes/exams(83%) required precision & extra time to do well (w/o bonus marks).
OMG, what was I thinking. I was told not to take him but George was the only professor teaching ACCT 3410. This is what I call GPA killer as he was off topic, rude at some times and it did not make sense. WORST TEACHER EVER. DO NOT AND I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Unless he is the only one for your courses that you need.
He surely has high standard when assessing student. Very tough course, but you can get comprehensive understanding in accounting.
Based on Online Class (please take it with a grain of salt): 1) Easy-going and accessible via email/Zoom 2) Exams were based on his notes (no surprises). 3) Understanding and empathetic Overall, I had a good experience with this instructor but it was online and open book so in-person class might be different.
