This class is pure lecture and note taking. I barely used one of the textbooks and it cost me $80. His notes are everywhere and it's hard to know what information will be valuable for the next exam. You don't have to come to class but it's better if you do since it's pure lecture. Plus, he's a snazzy dresser for an old guy.

Germany was the first class i had ever taken at sf state, and he blew my expectations out of the water. He is a very kind man who cares about his subject and teaches history as if it was a story. only takes attendance the first day. there are 3 tests and a paper. overall a very easy class, i wish he taught other courses.

this guy makes us history interesting. i took it i the morning and i felt like it was a nice way to warm up my brain for the day. this teacher is easy if you attend(most of the time), take notes (although most of the notes he already has printed out for you), and do well with multiple choice tests (3 tests all multiple choice)

He honestly made history very interesting for me. I was glad I was able to have him as my professor. Notes were provided by him. You technically don't need to go to class, but he is very informative about his subject, front, back, left, and right. Take him and you'll never regret.

He is an awesome guy, however I still found it rather difficult. He's the grandpa I never had...with all the stories! He teaches his class as if he's telling stories about his past...but he's old enough that they can be his past. I enjoyed it...term paper was ridiculous...he curves the test grades.

Yes he knows a lot but that doesn't mean he teaches well. the info he gives in lectures does not match up with the textbook. I can't trust his lectures because he stutters and says one thing, drifts off, and then say something completely different. Its hard to keep up since he throws in info you don't need and mixes it with the few important info

Germany is awesome! He makes everything quite interesting and tells a lot of anecdotes. He has notes as hand outs which all you need for the exam. No book. 3 exams - pretty easy. Just come and listen to his stories and get an easy A. Got him few times after the class to discuss current issues, fascinating man! ps: He is incredibly stylish too lol!

A humorous, amiable and stylish old man. Every time he walks in classroom with a cane, dressing in suit and wearing a hat. No textbook but only a syllabus that you should download and print out. The content is easy to understand. Totally 3 exams with multiple choice & T or F. If you take every class and listen carefully, they are very easy.

He's a nice old man who answers any question with pleasure. No iLearn or emails though. He only checks attendance once a semester (at the end). Pretty easy class since he gives a reader (notes). However, attend and pay attention in class : not ALL exams questions can be answered with the reader. No homework, only 3 True/False exams. An easy A or B.

Prof Germany is the best teacher I have ever had. He teaches history by telling interesting stories. Stylish and extremely admirable. From his response to questions people ask in class you can tell he is very wise. You will respect him so much by listening to him. Learned so much from him and felt so sad wish I could take another class with him.

Easy A, doesn't take attendance HOWEVER he is SUPER CONSERVATIVE and may offend some people. Still refers to Native Americans as "Indians" because "that's what they've been called for so long" and hardly talks about slavery in US history (or anything related to race discrimination). Also, low-key praises Trump. Easy class, but I didn't like him.

There are only 3 exams. This includes the final (the final wasn't accumulative). Pay attention to his lectures because not all questions from the test can be answered from the print-out handout. Overall, he is a very passionate, and respected professor. Definitely take him! P.S He rarely takes roles

His class was completely based on the lecture with the exception of a term paper. He doesn't use slides, textbooks, study guides, or ilearn. You have to attend lecture and take good notes. Some of the questions on the exam are on things that he said in lecture that are very specific and seemingly unimportant. He canceled the final for my class.
