I understood what was going on. the lessons were detailed and done in the appropriate order. His accent was a bit rough, but his knowledge and love of the subject was fine
I had him for mangement statistics, His accent makes it a little hard to understand. He's really smart and knows what he's teaching but doesn't know how to teach it. His test are hard and complicated. He never remembers what he has taught.
I had him for Management Stats. He has a short temper and doesn't really know how to explain what he should. His tests are complicated, although he allows a formula sheet, and the multiple choice are always very hard.
The worst economics course I have ever taken. Has trouble explaining concepts in English.
This guy is disorganized and it's impossible to understand what he's saying. He changes due dates regularly.
Avoid him at all costs. He's unreasonable and can't explain anything.
He is a great professor. He really knows the material and explains it well. Too many student whine because he has standards.
Gonpu has a difficult time conecting the work to good examples. He is a nice man but it is difficult to understand him sometimes. Managment stats is a tuff class to begin with so i do not recomend gonpu - but he is not so bad

He has a terrible grading curve. I had an A average and received a B+ in the class. I had him for both micro and stats. Almost everyone failed his stats class and I did not learn a thing. He sucks.

he would have been a good teacher had it not been for his tests, he never prepared us for them and so when we got them , even if we knew how to use all the formulas we never knew when to use what and he really doesnt give partial credit even for big probs
He is so smart, and explains everything so well. But you have to work in his class, he is committed to students learning the material.
Professor Gonpu is not someone I would recommend to take the two classes I took with him. He teaches it but he doesn't teach it for us to understand it well enough. He's slightly lenient in grading, but still...take my advice, take someone else.
I HATED this class!! So boring. He could not explain something to save his life. He told us he made the tests hard on purpose, to trick us. Nice, right?
You could no understand a word he spoke and his short fuse for anyone who had a question was horrible. To teach macro and not speak good english is not a good mix. Even the wording on his exams didn't always make sense. I would not recommend him at all.

Worst class I have ever took!!!! He was the worst professor I had. He even kicked me out of class for asking a question because I didn't understand what he was trying to teach. He can not explain things well at all and has a very short fuse. Horrilble!!!!
One of the worst Professors in this College. Avoid at all Costs!!, even the faculty want to get rid of him. You can not understand a word that comes out of his mouth. All he does is say "Okay" all the time. I was lucky because I took a stat class in H.S.

very easy. Only 2 frickin grades the whole class. No homework, no papers, no nothing. He gives you a review test for the three tests, which he drops one. So easy.
Good teacher. He gives you a practice midterm the class before and then takes like 10 of those questions and puts them on the midterm. No homework of papers. Drops the lowest of the two midterms. Alittle hard to understand, but is worth it.
Everyone complained about this guy but it wasnt so bad. His speech blows and class is really boring but he lets u have a formula sheet for the test (i made it work). Plus i went stoned all the time which made it much more bearable.
He has got to be the worst professor in this school. There is no point in asking any questions in class because he never answers them. He has no clue of what he is teaching. I learned nothing and that class ended up being a waste of time.
The worst professor I have ever had. Has a way of confusing you even more. Can not even grasp the english language thus putting unlear wording on test and homework problems he makes up. Has trouble explaining non mathmatical prinipals.

A good class in that you never have to show up or do any homework. However, if you suck at math, you Will fail the course. Very confusing teacher, a little lost. Not a bad guy tho, he is willing to help;unfortunately he just cant do it.

He is one of the worst teachers I have taken. His accent can at times be too strong to understand what he is saying. His final exam is completely different from all his other classes, it is much harder.
People make such a big deal about how hard this prof. is but he really does try to help you if you don't understand something AND he's flexible, if the class doesn't understand a topic he adjusts to the speed of the class - most prof won't do that.

gives two exams all semester. plenty of time to study the notes he gives. always has office hours for you to come by. has accent, not bad. always laughs and smiles. if u do poorly its only your own fault. recommended.
Gonpu is a good prof. The class is pretty easy to begin with. He has an accent, but nothing that bad. Just keep up with the material and study for the tests and the class won't be hard. He also ends 15 minutes early usually.

I read previous comments on him even though they were not good. I wanted to challenge myself, but it was not hard. He was clear and i learned a lot from his class. He would not drop the lowest grade and he is not easy for grading. only 3 tests for 97%!

Very tough to understand and slightly boring but otherwise well organized and cares very much about students' performance. Just show up and highlight in the book things he covered in class and there's your test. Stats is even easier - just write out formulas on the cheat sheet he allows you.
He is HORRIBLE, he LOST my 1st exam that I got a 97 on!!and therefore, he gave me a C. I had to email him hundreds of times to get my grade changed.He ignored my emails FOREVER.finally he changed the grade to a B, when i should have had an A!!!he is hard to understand and doesn't follow the syllabus

It is true that he can't spell and sometimes he writes the wrong formulas on the board, but basically the tests are on the formulas which he gives you with the test. if you can do the formulas you pass, he doesn't grade assignments only checks if you do them sometimes
Not bad,but not that easy. His english is very poor but he explains things as best he can. Doesn't curve,no matter how bad students do and his final is his hardest test of the 3. Reading was pointless,he went over everything needed for the tests. Most of his exam questions were directly from review.

The unfortunate part about college education is that it is generally thought that a PH.D in a particular subject gives you the ability to teach it. This is FALSE. Dr. Gonpu is a brilliant economist. this guy is the worst. i got an 85 and an 87 on the first two tests and got a d+ in the class. He rushed through the last 3 chapters and nobody understood what the hell he was talking about. I highly recommend not taking him.
His notes are very confusing and don't make any sense until he goes over a problem in the book. Only three exams make up your grade. First 2 weren't too bad, just study the problems he assigns. The final was a nightmare!! EXTREMELY hard!! Questions came from nowhere and caught the class offguard.
This guy is the worst teacher ever. He is unorganized. he does not know the correct information. he does not explain himself at all. Then he thinks your his friend after he gives you a D- in the class when you got a 95 and 80 on the first two tests. What an ****!
He is a good teacher and really likes what he does... he is not very personable, so most people dont like him, but i do. If you are willing to study and take notes the classes are always good.

Don't take him!!! I went for help at office hours all he did was talk down to me and acted like I should know what he was talking about. The first 2 tests are easy the third comes outta nowhere and is really difficult...the worst math teacher I've ever had!!!!

I was one of the few who previously gave this guy a decent rating and I am back to fix my mistake. He ended up totally screwing me over, no matter how great you think you're doing your final grade won't reflect it and you won't be able to do anything about it, it's total bs, lost my scholarship because of this jerk..not worth taking for ANY reason.

You CAN get an A in this class but you have to do two things. 1) Read the chapter and take notes on the topic before he teaches it in class (CRUCIAL)and 2) Take detailed notes from his lectures and review them that night. He actually tells you to do this, but almost nobody actuakky does.

Difficult to understand, but just pay attention and you will have no problem. Class isn't too difficult, but the tests are rediculous. Show up, do the paper, study, and you should do fine. Doesn't deserve a blue face, there are plenty of teachers worse than him.

Absolutely horrendous professor. He is VERY difficult to understand. Classwork is not easy and he is not helpful when you don't understand the material. Avoid this professor at all costs! His tests get harder as the class goes on and his final is worth 40% of total grade. HORRIBLE

A very nice guy, had him for microeconomics. He does care for his students but his test are a horrible indication on how much you know of the subject. I was one of the few people who understood everything fairly well, helped alot of people out and only wound up with a B! If your gpa is important I might advise taking another econ teacher.

I had him for macro. He's fair. Everything on the test was taught. The review before the test is a must. Heavy accent. Reading the book is a must if you want to get a good grade.
The course is difficult & he is not helpful at all. simply put, he is NOT an educator. Says he won't give you answers to problems, but then just provides worksheet & answer sheet. Gives a syllabus, but doesn't follow it --don't rely on it or HIM.

Really not that difficult. Has an accent but not hard to understand. Gave no homework all semester. Tests all MC. Pay attention in class, take notes, outline key terms in the chapter and you should do fine. Very straightforward. I had zero knowledge on the subject prior to taking this class and got an A. Difficult to understand. Very unorganized..he lost my second test and asked me to email him for my grade..then claims he didn't get the email. His tests are from the book but his lectures are not. Mixes up equations a lot... I got a B+ but only because I'm a decent student. If you are successful in this class, it will not be because of Gonpu.

His review packets basically outline what's going to be on the tests, so they're easy. He only really gives one project that is fairly easy.
Hard to understand him. You can sleep in class if you really want. Gives a review packet before exam STUDY IT LIKE THE BIBLE.. curves every test 7-10 points. Easy prof.. just annoying in class

Okay so he is a nice teacher but bad at teaching the class. He rambles a lot and bounces around that its hard to follow him. Attendance are mandatory but can guarantee you will barely learn anything. The textbook is your savior. Homework is long even if it only shows 20 questions there's multiple parts in each so prepare yourself for 3 hours to do
I took Dr. Gonpu for a hybrid MGMT Stats course, and although I got a good grade, it was a headache. For our 1 hour and 10 minute class, it would take him 30 minutes to get there, take attendance and get settled. This sounds great at first, but once you get to actually needing class time to review and he continues to do this, it grows very old.
Even though I got an A and he's an extremely easy professor, he's literally the worst professor at ramapo. He basically shows up to get a pay check and does not care what the students learn. His online homework is easy but he gives no warning of when anything is due. He curves all exams by like 8 points it's a joke.
This guy is what is wrong with the tenure system today. He does not care about the students, school, or other faculty members. He seems to just be there for a check. I had him for this class and he was my advisor while at Ramapo. He is lazy and hard to understand during the few times he explains various things. Stay away.
lectures are boring, not a very good teacher in the sense of explaining things. only reason i understood some of it was because of my micro class. exams are fine if you study from the online hw (which he never warns about) i just wouldnt take him again bc he doesnt explain things well and when it gets difficult its on you to figure it out
Very bad professor. He's a nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach. I was left to teach myself basically the entire class based off textbook and online assignments. 3 major tests, including final worth 30% of your grade. Lectures are unbearable, but the workload isn't bad. Would not take if you're unable to teach yourself the entire course.
Do not take him. The homework is online and it took everyone in the class 3-6 hours a week, not exaggerating. In class I would have my book open and take notes from there, thats how bad his lectures are (the textbook was actually pretty funny, and very easy to understand). He had to regrade at least 3 questions on every exam.
Horrendous professor. He's lazy and does not plan out his lessons. You'd think this was his first semester teaching, but apparently he's been here since 2003. His lectures are confusing and he is terrible at explaining things. I tried paying attention in the beginning but by the end I just had to teach everything to myself (the book is amazing).
Professor Gonpu is a reasonable professor. He expects his students to learn the material and practice at home. Not a terrible professor, you just need to be proactive in your learning and do the homework assigned. He gives enough practice problems for you to understand the material, but it is up to you to decide if you want to do them or not.
Professor Gonpu is thus far my favorite professor in my college career. While the material is difficult, as long as you complete the chapter readings prior to the lecture you will have a full understanding. While there are few grades during the semester, everything is outlined in the syllabus and review guides are more than helpful for all exams.
Gonpu really tries. I mean that. He really tried his best to be a good professor. He is a brilliant mind and a nice guy, but not a good teacher. If you pay attention and do all the work, you should be fine in the class. He tried his best, but it really didn't help him that most students went in with a negative attitude to begin with.
He is just not good. He will ask a question and will wait 5 minutes before someone answers. not good, do not recommend.
One of the worst of professors I've ever had. His lectures were dreadful to say the least and he was awful at answering questions. All of his lessons were poorly planned. Also, the readings he assigns are insane but the textbook is amazing. The only positive is that he curves. Be sure to stay on top of hw b/c he doesn't disclose deadlines.
Hands down hardest class I've ever taken. He is lecture heavy, and a terrible lecturer, with a monotone voice that put me to sleep twice a week. Most ECON profs. aren't too good at RCNJ but please try to take anyone else as I would've dropped the class the first week if the textbook wasn't $300!
Professor Gonpu is very lecture heavy and does not make the information interesting. He does not answer emails, so if you have any questions, good luck getting an answer!! I relied heavily on the textbook and youtube videos to learn this semester, which was more effective than his teaching. He gives a lot of online homework that is easy.
Save yourself the time and do not take this professor. He takes forever to answer his emails and when he does he is not even helpful. I had to teach myself the material. He is a nice guy don't get me wrong he is just so dry when he speaks it makes it difficult to learn. The only good thing is the homework is online and are easy to get done.
You're probably better off taking an online class and teaching yourself. He doesn't teach, he reads out of the textbook. He doesn't relate the material to anything or try and make it more understandable. If you ask for clarification, he will simply repeat whatever he said last. He never checks his emails, so good luck reaching him outside of class.
Every class is a lecture, very monotone voice. Knows what he's talking about but isn't great at conveying it. 3 exams, 1 group paper, and LOTS of online homework. Exams were tough, but he does curve them. Ended up having to teach myself the material.
Everything is done through mylab economics which isn't bad except for the fact that the professor does not teach at all. I quite literally taught myself through youtube and google. You get the lecture slides beforehand and then during the class time he just reads word for word off the slides. Do not take him if you don't have to.

His class was all lectures, there wasn't any group work or group assignments. He does care about attendance. All work including homework and test was done through Pearson and were fairly easy. The hardest part about his class is sitting through his boring lectures. Reaching him through the mail is also impossible as he takes forever to respond.
Professor Gonpu is a very nice Professor. unfortunately, his teaching style is nearly impossible to learn from. he talks about the chapter for the whole class period and rarely shows examples. you should expect to teach yourself the work and spend many hours on long homework. he does give extensions for homework when needed.
I wouldn't take his course again if it was the last one I ever had to. He is snappy, rude, and overall a horrible teacher. I have an A because i'm working ridiculously hard yet learning nothing. Half the class dropped 2 weeks into the semester. He doesn't answer emails and assigns too much homework on topics he doesn't even teach.
This professor posted about 6 homework assignments all semester long. Up until the very last week of finals which he then gave us a final exam and 6 more 50+ question homework assignments, that he failed to email anyone in the class about. Less than 5 people in the class were aware there was this much homework the day before our final.
Overall, he is just a very bad professor and fails to teach the class. He also fails to say when homework is due and uses MyLab to post it. If you're looking for a professor that responds to emails, this isn't the one. It took him almost 2 weeks to respond about one of my exam scores that he messed up.
Every class is the same and his lectures go no where. He is knowledgeable in the subject but AWFUL at lecturing and getting to the point. Long homework assignments. Two exams and a final that both weigh HEAVY on overall grade. If you answer a question, and is not what he is looking for he will star blankly back at you like and give no feedback.
This professor is an overall bad professor who doesnt know how to teach. All his lectures are boring and do not teach you anything. You learn mostly from the textbook which is integrated into your tuition costs. He is not good at responding to emails and all assignments are posted on MyLab but he never mentions when they are due. 2 midterms 1 final
Professor Gonpu, is clearly smart. However, he does not really teach. He reads off the slides and talks very slowly. Only thing that is used for grades are the homework on Pearson, one group project, and 3 exams that are on Pearson as well. He talks really slowly which makes the class boring, and does not respond to emails at all. DO NOT MISS WORK
He is extremely boring, although I do not think he realizes it. Take his class if u want to just breeze by and do the online homework and fall asleep to his lectures. You will not learn anything at all!!!!! He is a nice man tho. Overall, not too terrible, except for his torturous ongoing lectures. Also his homework are like 100 questions for each.
His teaching skills are weak. Boring & ineffective lectures. Takes 20 min to get ready. HW is very long (average 70-200 questions). Textbook doesn't help. The 3 exams are take-home but difficult. Barely answers emails. If you didn't pay attention during freshman Stats and/or don't know how to use Excel, good luck. Overall, would NOT recommend him.
Prof. Gonpu is one of the worst professors I have ever experienced. His methods of teaching the material to his students do not work so you have to learn it on your own and teach yourself. The homework was always uploaded weeks late and was made due few days after it was posted. Overall would never take him again avoid him at all costs!
I have never been so bored. Gonpu seems like a very intelligent man but the guy has no clue how to teach. The class is pretty much an online course but you have to go rot away in a classroom and listen to him ramble on. If you really do not care about boring lectures to take up your day and having to teach yourself, Gonpu's perfect.
Prof. Gonpu's class can be a slog, as he tends to lecture straight from the slides. The workload is heavy, with numerous exams and online homework assignments. However, tools like Unstuck ai and the free textbook can help make this class more manageable.
Gonpu is a clearly well-educated man, but his teaching style is very ineffective. While you may learn from taking his courses, you will not actually be prepared for the exams, at least the Pearson ones you receive if you take a hybrid course, from any lecture given. He also is often hostile to students, and isn't very friendly or easy to talk to.
Just Awful. The class feels rushed, with chapters covered too quickly and little time spent on explaining key concepts. There's a heavy homework load, but it doesn't always help with understanding the material. Overall, it's difficult to learn effectively in this course.
At first, I was nervous to take his class because of his reviews, but all the tests were simple, and all the homework and most of the exams were online. You can just do all the homework, and you'll be fine. His lectures are very heavy and difficult to follow, but as long as you do the homework and go to class, you will be fine.
Honestly gonpu is good. He has a lot of homework online and all the exams are also online. I think it was a pretty easy course but the homework are long but we have like a week to complete it. I would take him again.

THE RATINGS ARE NOT JUST BITTER BOOTS, STAY FARRRRRRR AWAY! One of the absolute worst class experiences in my college career. Had to teach myself all of the material, lectures were worthless, and he also is aggressive towards students. Is aware of his generally low review scores and gaslights students about it.
The fact that he's been getting flamed since 2003 says it all. I am baffled how the campus is still letting him teach despite these numerous negative reviews/complaints over these 20+ years. Never seen a Ramapo professor get criticized this badly. He's very smart, I don't doubt that, but he's completely unfit for teaching.
If you have prior knowledge (ex. AP economics in HS) take him, if not don't. He is very smart but not good at teaching at all, only lectures and does practice quizzes (not graded). Homework is all online and easy, and exams are online in class. Only three exams all semester. Also, really bad at taking attendance.
Honestly easy A. All HW is online, just don't forget to do it. All exams are also online at home, again don't forget to do it. Hybrid class so attendance is pretty mandatory since it's once a week. Only thing that is hard is not wanting to skip.
Doesn't know how to teach a class. If you absolutely HAVE to take this with him make sure you READ the chapters and try your best to understand the material before he goes over it. He expects you to know it before coming in. He frequently makes class awkward when ppl don't know the material and will sit in silence until someone answers
Very easy class. Hes an alright guy, bit of an accent, people exxagerate it. Its just boring, all test fully online though.
The class is basically just lectures, with the only grades coming from homework and the 3 exams (and some participation grade I think). With that being said, the lectures were very boring and often times hard to really learn from without reading the textbook beforehand (if he remembered to post it). Homework was 25% of final grade. Easy but boring.
Honestly he was pretty clueless and wasted lots of time during lectures repeating himself or just silently staring at the class. He is very test heavy but does not teach the material well. Be prepared to learn everything on your own.
